Could be incredible.
Next year OU adds DGB and Mixon. Those two plus the rest of the gang, could make for absolutely lethal team. Keep in mind OU will have 4 very versatile RB’s. OU also returns 3 OL starters, Sterling Sheppard, Durron Neal, Dimitri Flowers, etc. Add what we all think Quick and Trevor will be, and you’re looking at an offense with 2008 potential.
Also, OU’s defense has plenty of youth and the young guys are getting plenty of reps. The 2014 team has playoff/NC game potential, but 2015 looks like it could be THE team to beat. Obviously, this is just conjecture at this point, but it’s fun and exciting to think what OU has going for it in the future. Haven’t felt this good about OU’s future and direction in a while.

Not convinced DGB will stay here next year.
You aren’t alone there but I’m in the camp that says he stays. But regardless I think the 2015 team could be special. Some of the young guys are special. Steven Parker is the ice man. Rare to see a young dude look that calm and cool
Parker gas MASSIVE UPSIDE.
Do you think any juniors will leave for the NFL?
If any left it’d be Tapper. I think the rest are 4 year type guys.
He has volcanic farts?
I’m under the impression, from very reliable sources, that DGB’s mom is telling him he’s getting a degree. He needs to stay, too. His nfl stock has taken a major hit with all of his alleged stuff he was arrested for. We’ll see. February is a long ways away. I’m going to go 90% chance he stays.
Interesting. I had been told he made a commitment to stay an extra year but didn’t hear about the degree thing. Wouldn’t be surprised though.
I think Stoops et al have made a point of creating a culture that involves guys understanding that sticking around will be beneficial and that includes recruiting guys who are smart enough to understand it. I bet this consideration, including the notion of taking advantage of the opportunity to get a degree, played into the DGB move and because of that, I think he’ll stay, as well.
I would think this too. Kid needs to work on the character issues and develop his stock. He’s a first round talent. Where in the 1st he goes depends on his decision. And not playing D1 football for a year will hurt him.
We are losing a lot of beef on the O-line so I’ll wait to get excited about 2015 when I see who will replace the ones leaving.
Yup!
G – Shead, Savage, Evans, Feo Savage & Evans don’t start but are in rotation
OT – Williams, & Thompson. . Tackles are the concern for now but they have a year to work with the young OTs.
Yeah, it’s the interior oline next season that is the cause for concern. But there’s always some area of concern every year. Hoping OU will be working toward #9 and back-to-back.
Yep. Should be better everywhere in 2015 except Oline. Not sure we can replace that kind of experience in one year.
I’m 100% behind this. The only thing that is a concern is the schedule. D-line also could be a little bit of a concern if guys have banner years and leave for the League. But still giddy thinking about the upside.
Knock on wood that we don’t have a lot leave early (Striker/Tapper)Looking over the depth chart, the defense will be in terrific shape, probably even nastier than this year. Offensively, we lose 3 Sr.s off the OL. But with our depth, we should be fine there. Yes we will be absolutely loaded. If Stoops can pull it off this year, he’ll be in great shape to REPEAT. We could be looking at #8 and #9. AND that doesn;t include the next two recruiting classes.
Now…let’s not look too far ahead.
After reading this I am compelled to say: BOOMER!
Sooner!
Agree, the weak link will be ILB’ers as there is no depth. Bolton may help a bunch, but would sure be nice to
have a really good one to commit early (like right now) and get some momentum going.
Need a big-named JuCo LB to come in and fill the need. Anyone know of any JuCo LB’s that might fit the bill?
Baker Mayfield also adds a very reliable back up QB as well.
Anyone in the pipeline for punter? Barnett’s been ok, mostly, but no Tress Way, and I’m guessing he was brought in because Steed wasn’t setting anything on fire. What’s up for next year when Barnett’s gone?
Steed. He’ll have to improve, but he has the tools.
the O-line does worry me, need to blow guys out early to get some young guys experience.
