Keith Ford Almost Ready?

Talked to a source earlier today who said that he believes Keith Ford will be ready to go for the Iowa State game. He also said that while he isn’t going through full practices yet, he is taking some reps and the staff is bringing him along gradually.

That would be huge – Makes you wonder what OU would have done against TCU and K-State if we had Ford…

Well, if you assume that his contribution would have been positive (and I do), then he almost certainly would have ‘won’ us at least one of the two….considering how close they both were.

Charles Walker being back is important too. We had no quality depth with he and Dimon out.

Reminds me, Dimon made a real nice play last week. Beat his man and was able to make the tackle. Unfortunately our DL overall didn’t have a great day.

    Good news.
    He has been missed.

Glad to hear he’s healing up and getting back into action, just hope they don’t rush him in until he is for sure 100%. I think he would be more important for the Baylor game.

I’m holding my breath on this a bit, cause I know how remarkable it would be if he sat out this many weeks and hadn’t lost a step, or slowed any in his ability to deal with the speed of the game. I was all in on him after seeing how he played in the first game or so, and hope he’ll be the same guy right away. It would be great! I’m also wanting to see more Ross, (yeah, I know they just alternate series) I think he’s really coming around on the things that were question marks, and he sure is exciting when he weaves thru the line and comes out on the back side.

We *should* be able to beat ISU without Ford, so if they decide to keep him out one more game, I wouldn’t have a problem with that decision (not that it matter what I think), I just want Ford at 100% when Baylor comes to Norman.

      SK,
As long as he is 100%, I would give him some carries in the ISU game so he can get the feel and test the ankle a little bit before he went full speed vs Baylor. I do see what you mean.

Good point. It would be nice to be in a position where he could play a few series and at least get a feel for where he is with his game speed. Stoops did make a comment in today’s press conference about not putting him out there unless he’s ready (or something to that effect).

        • Hotrod33 says:

I would put him in regardless just so he can get use to the speed of the game again. I would give him 25% of the plays no more, no less. I remember when I broke my ankle playing footballin 8th grade and I was able to start playing basketball, the coach brought me along at a pace I was able to be good and when I was finally ready, he let me loose and I was good to go.
