The state Supreme Court has upheld the university’s decision to suspend Oklahoma linebacker Frank Shannon for one year. More details to come as they’re available.

– UPDATE: Shannon has been removed from OU’s online roster as of 9.9.14, which would seem to indicate the suspension is clearly now in effect.

I was thinking he might be a redshirt junior. So he is suspended from the team and school also? Still lots of questions to be answered.
He probably won’t even be allowed on campus until the end of this school year.

I believe that is the case. He’d be a senior next year whether here or at OU.

I guess a fair trial doesn’t exist inside the fence line of a major University. Hope he can take it to a real court.
I think we can say so long to Jefferson and wheeler with this news. I know it’s not final but this one is a head scratcher.
I don’t even have the words to explain how someone’s education and possible football career could be thrown into the trash based on he said/she said with no evidence, no criminal prosecution, and lack of basic legal rights. I hope this goes bigger so maybe this won’t happen to others. I’m not even saying who’s innocent or guilty, just don’t like the process.
I will say I’m glad the university “appears” to have done their due diligence because we wouldn’t want the federal investigation going on here like at fsu. However I bet you that investigation turns up little to nothing and fsu will face minimal penalty. So is it worth it? I guess we will have to see if players think we aren’t looking out for them but I do believe the suspensions we’ve made will mean a lot to the parents.
I don’t understand. Are you saying Jefferson and Wheeler aren’t going to go to OU b/c a linebacker got in trouble with the law, and maybe, possibly, it could be said that he wasn’t treated fairly (though I’d argue this with you)?
Or am I misunderstanding?
I’m saying both of them have a connection to shannon and may consider him a friend/mentor (jefferson and shannon are cousins). I do think his punishment does not fit the crime (no crime according to the DA) and I don’t think he should have been made an example.
