– Marvin Terry: Those of you who have been checking our spring game visitor list know that 2016 South Oak Cliff LB Marvin Terry will be in Norman this weekend. I caught up with Terry recently and things sounded very positive for the Sooners. OU had some late success last February when they picked up a commitment from a teammate of Terry’s in 2015 safety, Prentice McKinney. But with the head coach of South Oak Cliff moving on to Texas Tech, and with all the time Terry has spent in Lubbock, it started to seem like OU’s chances with the 2016 linebacker may have been slipping some.
However, Terry told TFB he’s still very high on OU and even alluded to the fact the Sooners may be his number one school right now. He went on to say he doesn’t have a time table on a commitment at the moment, “I just feel like God will let me know when it’s time.” – (Brandon)
– Red/White Game Visitor List: Speaking of that visitor list, here are all the names we’ve been able to gather as of Friday morning. But we’ll continue working things throughout the weekend, so be sure to keep checking the master list over on TOP.
2015
There will also be a number of OU’s 2015 signees in Norman this weekend.

2018
OL Brey Walker (Moore, OK) – OU offer
– Spring Game Holdouts: We also wanted to put together a quick list of the players not expected to take part in Saturday’s scrimmage. Whether it be due to purely precautionary reasons, injuries, or whatever, here are several names of those who will be limited and/or held out altogether*.
LB Dominique Alexander
RB Rodney Anderson
DE Matt Dimon
FB Dimitri Flowers – ADDED
DT Courtney Garnett
OG Nila Kasitati
RB Joe Mixon
LB Ogbonnia Okoronkwo
RB Samaje Perine
WR Michiah Quick
WR Sterling Shepard
WR Jordan Smallwood
CB Stanvon Taylor
DT Charles Walker – ADDED
(*There very well could be others, but those listed above are just the players we have heard about specifically. We also didn’t list them, but I’d expect upperclassmen like Ty Darlington, Eric Striker, Charles Tapper, etc. to be pretty limited in what Stoops has them do as well.)
– LaRon Stokes: A couple weeks ago we introduced you to Tulsa area 2016 DE LaRon Stokes (here). For those of you interested in the local athletes, Stokes is starting to pick up some interest from schools like Houston, Texas Tech and Texas A&M. He is also headed to the University of Houston today for a visit. – (Alex)
– Kendell Jones Jr: Things continue to be somewhat quiet with regards to OU’s new defensive line coach, but it appears Diron Reynolds has been communicating with 2016 DT Kendell Jones Jr., aka “The Hulk” (at the Dallas regional Opening event he measured in flat-footed at 6’5″ & 364 lbs). I chatted with Jones earlier this week, who said he had heard from Reynolds that very day. While he won’t be up Saturday for the spring game, Jones did say he’s going to try to make the trip up to Norman at some point this summer. – (Super K)
– Darnell Salomon: The 2016 Miami area wide receiver has offers from just about everyone in the country including Alabama, Florida State and Oklahoma just to name a few. Salomon tells me that Lincoln Riley has been recruiting him and it sounds as though the Sooners first-year OC has been doing a solid job thus far.
Salomon is still pretty open but did say he is focused mostly on six schools right now: Oklahoma, Alabama, LSU, Oregon, Texas & Auburn. Salomon told TFB he he preferred Oklahoma’s offense due to fact he anticipates they will throw the ball more than the Alabama and LSU. However, those other three schools among his favorites certainly have plenty to offer as well.
The talented Florida wideout said he plans on making a trip out to both Oklahoma and Texas later this summer. It’s probably worth mentioning Salomon does have some ties to the Longhorns after a couple of his friends from the Miami area signed with Texas last year. – (Super K)
– J.P. Urquidez: The stud 2016 offensive line prospect announced Thursday on Twitter that he will make his commitment this Monday (9am, central) at his high school. He will decide between OU, Baylor, Miami & Texas. Urquidez has visited Norman on more than one occasion, but his most recent visits were to Baylor and Miami.
We’ll leave the speculation up to you, but recent OU quarterback commit Austin Kendall is certainly trying to do his part to get Urquidez to join him in Norman.

– UPDATE (Sat., 10:12 am): Adding Charles Walker to the list of players not expected to take part/be limited today. Stoops said yesterday following the open practice that Walker has been dealing with a case of strep throat.
– UPDATE (Sat., 11:29 am): FB Dimitri Flowers just tweeted that he also won’t be playing today.

First homie!
So the running backs that we’ll see are Alex Ross and Daniel Brooks….k.
Flowers?
I’d expect there will be a walk-on or two that gets some carries, but yeah for the most part those are really the only two “name” guys available tomorrow.
Over/under on total number of passes goes up significantly. 200+?
I don’t think they’ll run anywhere near enough plays to come close to that number, plus I could totally see Bob cutting the scrimmage short if he gets the sense there’s little purpose in continuing.
Yeah, I was being a little facetious in my number of passes. I agree that Stoops will most likely call the scrimmage short. But I do expect much, much more passing than running.
I figured 😉
I do think you’ll see more passes than runs, but also don’t believe that’s purely a product of those RBs being out. I think OU will generally throw it more than they’ll run it this year. Not to the extreme some might believe, but prob something like 60/40
60/40 is ’bout right. Should be a good day for it weather-wise too.
Are there even any walk-on RBs on the roster? I couldn’t find any. I say throw the damn ball all day long. Get a better feel for your QB situation and give the DBs a ton of work.
I assume that we’ll be seeing Dimitri Flowers run the ball some as well.
Good stuff. Thanks TFB.
Kellen Diesch should be on commitment watch for this weekend. Same with Rowdy Fredrick if he gets an offer, which I think he will at some point. Maybe this weekend even
Matt Farniok would be a very nice pickup. Heard he is better than his bro
I heard he is much better than both of his older brothers.
he doesn’t have an offer does he ????
Noah Jones kid from Moore is very intriguing
Are you all expecting a good crowd tomorrow? Do you really even care what the number is (not the b.s. announced attendance they’ll be making up, er, releasing)?
Given all of what I’ve read since the season ended, I feel like there are so many of us disillusioned with the program right now it will be a pretty poor turnout. But that’s also assuming the OU fans who are online represent a majority of the fan base and I know that’s not the case, simply b/c OU fans don’t have anywhere near the online presence of many other top programs.
I won’t really care if the number is 10k or 30k, but if it’s on the lower side of that estimate it will be at least kind of a reinforcement of my opinion on things.
Attendance will be good imo, I think people are excited about the new offense.
I don’t disagree w/ that at all, just not sure it’s enough to get some people to go out given the way things went last year and the general sense of apathy I feel like many have w/ the program right now.
Jordan I feel bad for you that you aren’t feeling it for OU.
I can’t wait to see the game Saturday. To me, it doesn’t make any difference if we are coming off a winning season or the other I just plain love watching my Sooners. I try hard not to take offense with other people when they are negative towards my team and coaches. I hope you see something Saturday that will help you overcome your apathy towards the OU Sooners
I agree. Being exiled in Kentucky, I’m envious of the people who have the opportunity to go see some of the newer players, some glimpse of the new offense, and how the defense plays against it.
Agree. Except Ohio for me.
Ditto. these guys don’t know how good they have it 😉
Amen, stuck in Northern Iowa where we got snow last night. Oh, how I want to be in Norman Saturday.
Northern Iowa huh? I feel for you. At least you have those beautiful Waterloo sunsets, oh wrong place? Sorry nm. 🙂
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5J3gX47rHGg
I could use a whataburger and a sonic slushie today …simple things.
Amen. I get tired of hearing it. And it just opens the door and welcomes in all sorts of trash from others
So unless I’m ready to pump some sunshine just keep my mouth shut, is that how it’s supposed to work?
Dude, you do a ton here. We are very thankful of that. But when everything you say has a smarmy, negative connotation to it while sitting atop the throne this place has brought brings out the negatives in a lot of people. When people see someone in charge blowing stuff up, they’re probly gonna grab some grenades. If you guys didn’t put names to who typed what, I’d bet most people would still be able to pick out yours. I will never try to shut someone up, but anywhere from press conferences having the same ring to em for 15 yrs to now including the announced attendance just makes me not want to take anything you ever have to say seriously. I have no idea if its truth or some guys negative interpretation
..
Haha. Sit back, relax, and strap on your seatbelt
how’s the popcorn, you get butter or just salt
Butter. And lots of it. These arteries aren’t gonna clog themselves.
I completely respect your right to your opinion, but when you talk in such extremes I can’t help but feel it takes away from your point somewhat.
I mean I only need to point to what I wrote for the site yesterday to disprove your statement that EVERYTHING I say has a smarmy/negative connotation.
Am I one of those OU fans who is feeling a sense of apathy towards the program following last year? Hell yes. If expressing that fact however I see fit to do makes you choose to not take me seriously, then you have every right to that.
I am who I am as a fan, just as you are who you are. I’m not going to change that, much as some might prefer, simply b/c I have this forum with which to express myself. Nor am I going to apologize for that. But, again, I will absolutely respect anyone’s opinion to disagree with it or me.
With all due respect, I think you’re being a little bit dramatic with that last sentence. As I don’t feel it requires very much, if any, thought 99.9% of the time to determine whether I’m expressing my opinion on something or simply “reporting” the facts as they are. But, again, that’s JMO.
My whole point is take the press conferences for example. Thank you for bringing them to us. Ton of work. Very much appreciated. But the color commentary that comes with it could probly be skipped. I’m sure you do it because some of your followers think its funny, but when you pretty much ask “why do they continue to do these and why do I continue to put up these posts” gets a little stale in WK 12, when its a carbon copy of 1-11. Yes I overexaggerated to try to help my point which I think you get
I only do it to make light of sitting thru the same thing we’ve all sat thru time and time again. Add a little levity. Clearly that’s not how you’re taking it, so I can certainly make an effort to try and tone it down.
But if all we’re going to do here is offer the “news” exactly how it’s presented and can only comment on things if done so in a positive way, I think things will get pretty boring.
I’d like to believe everyone here as a whole, both us as staff and all of you as are loyal readers, can get something from the collective, diverse community we/you have helped to establish. Is it going to suit your fancy 100% of the time? Probably not, but our personalities are what help to create something different and, frankly, something I think a lot of people have connected with.
If I may chime in for a minute…….
As far as the press conferences are concerned, I’m with ya. I don’t see the point anymore. Same BS questions from the pathetic Oklahoma media. Same rehearsed answered from the Head Coach. Week after week, after week, after week. If I had to cover those things, I believe I would have the same attitude as you.
That’s all I needed to hear. I completely understand the trepidation that last season has brought. For you to say that some of what you bring is “tongue in cheekish” makes me want to believe you. So I’ll try to take it that way while trying to get to learn your “mannerisms” so to speak. The conversation above about not stealing someone’s journalistic thunder is pretty cool of you, so I’m glad to know that you’re not bipolar 🙂 And maybe you don’t need to tone it down. Maybe I just need to get used to your “tone”. And yeah tthere’s a lot of good people here and different views are cool, but the ones who have not even a good word to say are the ones I could live without…no you’re not in that crew 🙂
Good talk 🙂
Just to put things in perspective allow me to offer something really depressing. The Central Valley in California is being destroyed. This has been America’s breadbasket, but due to stupid polices, farmers are cutting down fruit and almond trees by the tens of thousands and plowing under other crops. The impact on our food prices and quality will be felt for years. The impact on framers and farm workers has been devastating, all to protect a tiny fish.
So, compared to that or the genocide of Christians and Jews in the Middle East and Africa, last season was insignificant. The good news, last season is behind us and me can look forward to a much improved team this year. If we had water today, it would take a decade to recover from the damage done to the Central Valley’s crop production.
Yes, Jordan, please oblige the weak-minded who cannot handle anything but rainbows and lollipops. Apparently they can’t afford the $10 a month to read James Hales’ endless sunshine pumping so they want you to be the “No-Charge James Hale.”
Here are some pointers for how to please the perpetually offended here:
1. In every article, be sure to mention the beating of Alabama in the Sugar Bowl.
2. Always find a way to work in the number of Big12 conference titles we’ve won.
3. Always note that Bob Stoops’ position in the wins-since-1999 rankings.
4. Inclusion of the number of Heisman winners and finalists over Bob Stoops’ tenure seems to soothe them.
5. If you must mention last season’s results, be sure to note that in 3 of the 5 losses, we were just a few plays away from winning those games so it was really more of an Eleven-ish and Two-ish season than 8-5.
Sorry my weak mind is confused. I have to ask, Are you a Sooner fan?
Hell yeah I’m a Sooner fan. 3rd generation Sooner fan with a daughter graduating from OU next month, another that’s a Soph at OU and 3rd who is finishing her freshman year in high school who will be attending (hopefully on a basketball scholarship though she has a lot of work to do to have a shot at the scholarship part).
I have been a Sooner fan since I listened to my first OU football game in my dad’s truck in 1975. I went to school with J.C. daughter; my mom worked with Scott Case’s wife, Connie, when he played here. We’ve been season ticket holders since 1999. We are a single income family due to a 6 year old special needs child so we don’t have a lot financially. But we’ve managed to hold onto our 4 seats because OU athletics are our escape.
The thing is, and I know this seems to be a difficult concept for several of you… but it is possible to be a fan AND recognize the shortcomings of your team. It doesn’t lessen the enjoyment of the team for me to acknowledge that we may not have had the best defense the last few years. I still support them with my money; I still show up and yell my damn head from the moment the announcer says “It’s football time in Oklahoma,” until the Ruff Necks fire the shotguns 4 times when it’s over.
I played football. I’ve coached football (though certainly not at this level). I know football. So when things are good I see it; when something isn’t good, I notice it. It would be disingenuous of me to pretend like we went 11-2 last year when I watched us go 8-5. If I tried to pretend like our secondary was a lock-down, second coming of Seattle’s defense, it wouldn’t change what we all saw actually happen. There is nothing wrong with acknowledging the truth.
You, and a good many like you, seem to be really bothered by anyone who can accept the reality of our program, good AND bad. That is fine. It’s your prerogative to be annoyed by whatever you like and generally speaking, it doesn’t bother me at all. But, when people are constantly complaining about what they are reading on a FREE blog, that they voluntarily visit… I will feel equally free to point out the absurdity of their complaint.
Today’s version of ‘Whining About the Free Content I’m Voluntarily Reading’ including someone pointing out that Esco’s
“slant” on things just gets old when they have to read it through 12 or 13 weeks of being live tweeted the press conferences. I thought to myself “REALLY?! You’re complaining to a guy who put forth the herculean effort to tweet 12 or 13 live weekly press conferences because you don’t like the tone of his coverage? Well, nobody made you follow his coverage and if it’s such a bother, why did you read it for 13 weeks? Attend the damn presser yourself… Ohhhh you can’t? THEN BE GRATEFUL SOMEONE DOES AND QUIT BITCHING ABOUT HOW HE DOES IT!” I know, I know… how dare Esco put in all that effort for us and then dare to not do it exactly as you want it done. The nerve of that Esco!
The especially idiotic part of the whining about Esco’s coverage is the fact that if you don’t like his take on things and want everything reported with crimson colored glasses… HELLO! His name is James Hale. The web address is http://www.Oklahoma.247sports.com. He’ll pump all the sunshine you could ever want. Why are you here bitching about the free coverage you get here when you can get what you say you’re looking there? And James is good. I like James. I listen to his radio show 3 or 4 days a week. I’m a paying member of his website and have been since about ’97 or ’98. So I’m not saying James is bad… I’m saying that based on what y’all are bitching about, you can get that from James. Why ask Jordan to be someone other than himself when what you want is already available elsewhere?
Cindy, I agree. His constant negativism gets very old, at least for me.
Yep. The bitching about anything…even the freaking announced attendance is Stephen Dale-ish in my book
You guys make me laugh. Constant negativism, huh? Okay 🙂
Amen brother.
Jordan………possibly because people remember OU could not beat Florida or LSU with the ‘run & shoot’ offense ….many may question whether OU can / will have any more success today with admittedly less talent…..and possibly other reasons as well…….maybe us fans need to see Riley’s offense in action to get that feeling again……..
Had Manny Johnson not been hit before the ball arrived and some guy named DeMarco Murray played there’s a goof chance that the game would of ended differently.
6 years later and I’m still screaming for a play action to Gresham.
I was playing highschool ball at the time I literally couldn’t handle the stubbornness of using Gresham as a distraction a lot of the game.
Lol at “us fans”…
I think lots of people will want to see the Lincoln experiment.
Its football in the off season. I will show up (albeit virtually)
I live in Rogers, Ark. My next door neighbor is OU alum and is driving down with her husband for the game. I will watch from my couch. I will say 10-15k and they will announce 40k
I think somewhere between 30 & 40k..
20-25k. About par for the course. If Mixon were participating, I would guess upwards of 40k.
While it would help if they had some stars playing, namely Mixon, I think there will still be a moderate turnout. I wouldn’t say people are excited as much as saying they are intrigued by how much the different the offense will look. if I had to guess, I’d say around 15k, not a number I’d feel comfortable with seeing that there will be some big time recruits in but due to the lack of success the game will probably only pull in “hardcore” fans.
I have been to the last several Spring Games and the announced attendance numbers seemed spot in my observation. I expect 30,000 or so.
The feel of a semblance of a gameday again in Norman – enough for me to be there. ONLY ONE!!! BOOOOOMERRRRRR
I am sure it has been posted and I missed it BUT what is status if Frank Shannon?
Stoops has said he’s expected back this summer (possibly even in May if memory serves). But have still yet to see even a peep from Shannon himself indicating as much, fwiw.
After what Boren did to him, I’m amazed he’d even consider coming back.
I think he’ll come back for him. He needs to go out and make a future for himself. Does he have one or two years left Jordan? I’m thinking one.
Over/under receptions from Andrews and Meier tomorrow? I say 14.5
21st… again.
I keep thinking how good offense would have been if DGB had stayed
DGB, Andrews, Shepard, Westbrook oh my
This!!! ^^^^
On the other hand, the positive is that the younger guys get more playing time and we except for Shep we have them for at least 1 more year in Riley’s system
We could lose Westbrook as well I believe. Isnt he a Jr?
Yup.. Technically he could skip after a year if he has a massive year. Dude needs to bulk a little though, IMO.
Although he came from the Juco rout, I believe he has 3 years left. Don’t remember how that works because I thought you had to play 2 years J.c.. I could be wrong though! It happens with age…
I was under the impression that you can go pro after playing for two years which after this year he will have done. I could be wrong as well though.
Pretty sure it’s three years out of HS you can go pro.
Correct. Two years on the field if you’ve redshirted, of course. But the general rule is three years out of h.s. as you stated.
I think you just have to be out of high school for 3 years. It doesn’t matter if you actually play or not.
DGB was not going to be a huge help. He would not have helped that much and many offensive players were not impressed with him.
That’s from players, not lulzer, so yell at them.
Like who?
A couple of WRs and a RB after the practices last season. Where he was now and what he might have done this year is all speculation. Andrews>DGB in this offense.
@lulzer:disqus A player who has yet to play a down of college ball over a future first-round draft pick and former consensus #1 player in the nation coming outta high school?
Now I’ve heard it all……………
When DGB got to OU and practiced with the guys you cheer for on Saturdays, those guys were not impressed. What DGB did while at Springfield and Mizzou doesn’t matter…he wasn’t better than Shep. Described as “go route” only.
Now, you’ve heard it all. Have a great weekend.
That’s not what the DBs said when facing the scout team.
Actually it was, but what did you expect them to say publicly?
@lulzer:disqus
NFL scouts and GM’s would say otherwise. Playing in live games in the SEC counts for just a tad bit more than what he did (or didn’t do) on OU’s scout team.
I’m only telling you what was said as he practiced with Shep, Neal, Quick, etc. The words were – not impressed, and he is a “go/deep route only”. I’m sure you are right, and I was surprised to hear the words. But, I know for a fact that is what was said.
That’s just heresay.
And even if it is true, the same thing was said about Randy Moss.
It’s hearsay for you, because you were not present. It’s not hearsay for me. Now, you don’t know me and I could just be some internet idiot looking for acceptance. Take it how you will, Sir.
Just idiotic. The guy may be a 2nd round pick in the league and he would not be a force in this O? Glad whoever thinks that is not making OU football decisions.
Not making decisions, just playing for OU and starting.
Does anyone have a clearer picture on what’s going on with Matt Dimon?
Does Kendell Jones Jr. have an OU offer yet? Kid is huge and could for sure anchor the middle of that Dline and just eat up double teams
Yes. He’s one of the Top 10 (or so) DTs in the country. Plenty of competition for his signature.
Is Rowdy Frederick going to get a Bedenbaugh offer?
If he does, I would guess it won’t be until the fall.
another site’s posters are indicating Texas or Baylor for urqidez……
Surprise Surprise Surprise.
Yeah, but I don’t trust a lot of reporting, especially reporting on recruiting outside of TFB and handful of other sites. They could say anything for the sake of views.
would agree with you. nobody probably knows for certain—not even the recruit……
I bet a big grin came to your face when you read that eh?
not at all…………just a resigning ‘sigh’ of acceptance if true….who knows, maybe that poster will be wrong.
lol uh huh….sure thing.
WOW!! First of a kind try on being a positive poster Mr Dale. BRAVO!
K Jones is the most important recruit in this class at least that is my opinion
Hey guys long time lurker 1st time poster. will there be any coverage of the open practice today?
Like televised?
update made to the visitor list
That’s a terrible update.. Bring better news next time…
sorry
lol
Wow.
https://twitter.com/billmooneyhan/status/586519009463504897
thanks Jordan. Now I realize just how disgusting I am by how badly I want/need that cake.
Hey, everything in moderation, right? Gotta live life to its fullest while we can I always say.
‘Murica!!!!
nice looking woman, pass on the food
https://twitter.com/catchingdesign/status/586552458043727872
Sweet poster. The way Nila’s hair is, made me think there was someone standing behind him, holding a helmet, that wasn’t important enough to get in the picture.
Notice that Trevor Knight is not on the poster. hmmmmm….
He’s not a senior.
ahhhhh… I won’t read anything into it, then.
No Casey Thompson visit to the Spring Game? Where is he this weekend?
Is Nila Kasitati injury prone. Seems he always hurt.
I don’t know about injury prone necessarily, but even if he weren’t dinged up I doubt he’d have played much regardless. You know how Stoops is w/ upperclassmen in stuff like this.
He’s been in practice videos..
I haven’t seen him in any recent practice videos.
Whaley commit yet?
I look for this question every day.
Tomorrow.
😉
How ironic would it be if OU snagged Max Warilbo?
Marlboro?
Haha
It would be a good laugh, he wouldn’t be a big get in my opinion though.
This guy?
http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/wario/images/c/cb/Wario2.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20110920232757
Okay, so I cannot type… Max Wariboko
https://twitter.com/DamonSayles/status/586566337364828161
B/R……
I know, I know, but Sayles is legit. Just so happens to work for an outfit that isn’t. And since it was “exclusive” I wasn’t about to take that from him and present it as my info or otherwise. There are plenty of people on the internet who do that type of s#$%, but I will not be one of them.
Think we’ll get a visit?
We’ll see. At this rate they may fill up on LBs before that happens.
How many LBs are they gonna take this year? 3? I think Kelly and Bundage will be Sooners. Do you see Bundage definitely growing into a LB?
Yeah, I think three is probably the number
Over/under 1 commit tomorrow?
I’ll take the over
Easy on the optimism. 😉
Trying to turn over a new leaf 🙂
The world isn’t ready.
I’ll make them ready.
I don’t want a facade, I want the real Jordan Esco. Besides, people will be able to tell if your being disingenuous.
I’m going for broke on this prediction.
Kelly, Diesch, Bundage, and Whaley all commit this weekend.
Also, Draper gets his offer.
Go big or go home, right?
Exactly
I realize Baccus won’t be at the game but pulling for him to get an offer.
I’m usually highly skeptical of JUCO guys, but if he’s the real deal, I think a JUCO LB fits perfectly into the roster. Obo would be the only Jr. LB next year and the only senior in ’17.
It’s a condition commonly referred to as ‘Mike Reed-itis’
I got excited about J.R. Bryant, also.
definitely looked that part
More like Torrance Marshalness. He blazed that trail. Although I don’t think he actuially played in juco.
He was a JUCO guy and certainly a great OU LB, but outside of him they haven’t heard anywhere near that type of success again at that position (from a JUCO, unless I’m just completely blanking on someone)
I agree. I vaguely remember an outside guy that did pretty good. Might be Bryant yhay Dustin mentioned below.
Lance Mitchell and Pasha Jackson
Jackson. Couldn’t remember.
I get it. Seemed like Mike had off the field challenges that required his attention more than football.
If not OU, then I hope he has continued success.
+100
Not to mention the NCAA doing their best to screw up his life.
If memory serves, they only hate USC.
Also, I think ESPN reached out to the NCAA and said, we will shut you down if you put any SEC on probation.
For some reason, that conversation seems highly likely to me.
NCAA goes through ESPN to get their approval on players, sanctions, etc.
This also makes sense to me.
Hey! I resemble that remark! 😉
A plethora of telephones.
This may be a better solution:
Got it covered
You may end up in a food line but I like your gambling style.
Hangin’ in a chow line? Good times.
That’s what I like to hear. I’m leaning over as well. Would say Terry and Whaley if I were betting on two.
I was thinking Terry & Deisch.
And Urquidez on Monday!!! Please!!!
Anyway that Windham could play safety? If our safeties continue to struggle could they spin him to safety until the freshman show up? Or could he possibly be a starter? Or is he too stiff or anything? I’m really worried about the safety play.
Too small
What if he can cover and doesn’t have busted coverages though?
then he s/b one of your top corners, not safeties
Just had to stomp on my hopes that maybe we could patch up the back end of our secondary.
He would be a good corner. And still too small for safety.
Safeties normally average around 6’1 and weigh in the 200’s, Windham falls short in both catagories.
One name we heard a little of last fall was Marcus Green. To date, haven’t heard a peep about him. Curious about his ability at S since he’s 6’1. Again, I know nothing about his abilities.
Marcus Green is an interesting player. He seems to be a guy that could play either corner or safety, just based on his size. If memory serves, I think he played both in HS. He’s kinda buried on a depth chart that includes no seniors. He’ll have to seriously show out to see significant PT.
There is a lot of talk about Marcus Green this spring, just not on here. By all accounts, he is having an excellent spring.
Cool and thx. I know K said he worked with a trainer in Dallas who is well known so hope he shows out.
They talked about having him at S when he first arrived, but then he was on the depth chart at Right CB behind Julian Wilson and J Thomas last fall.
I like seeing Will Johnson at NB, because I think a CB is better able to cover a slot receiver than a S, but that’s just me.
The reason I ask is due to the lack of S depth. Not sure if this OU’s point of view or just mine/fans. However, with Byrd, Thomas, Parker and a 3 incoming freshmen, that doesn’t bode well for next year. Lack of experience really hurt us last year so don’t want to put unreal expectations on the incoming guys but thought Green might move into the nickle for free.
At 5’9″ 172, probably not.
If he can cover and not blow assignments though could you not take a look at him?
Texass think the Hulk is a lock for them
They think everybody is a lock for them 😉
What are the chances JP commits to OU on Monday?

Tren’Davian Dickson write-up by Jamie Uyeyama. Love this guy’s work.
Link: http://sonofacoach.com/trendavian-dickson/
Good read. Thanx for sharing. Understand TFB is trying to lasso this guy. He’d be a weclomed addition.
K mentioned it, not sure what they’re trying get together but I’m excited for. However, if it doesn’t work out his site is worth checking daily with the amount of evals he’s been putting out.
Yes. The site is among my favorites and is part of my morning coffee ritual. Hope TFB gets lucky.
He was one of my favorite players to watch in the tejas hs playoffs this past year. Hated seeing that ‘Baylor’ towel he wore and was very happy when he took it off and decommitted. Would love watching him wear an OU towel and making those catches in the future.

Who is #10 on defense or is that last spring ?
Believe it is Steven Parker’s new number.
Ok.. Got it. Thank you
It’s Steven Parker, he changed his number (wore No. 10 in h.s.) now that Q.Hayes has moved on.
Given the number of players available at different positions on D, I expect to see mostly a 3- or 4-man front, with 5 DBs. So 3 linemen with their hands in the dirt (Walker, Romar, Tap) (Orso, J Wade, DJ Ward), Striker or Bond as the standup DE or 3rd LBer, 2 safeties and 3 CBs, one as the NB.
On offense, I expect to see mostly 4 WR sets, often with a TE in one slot (Andrews or Meier) and a shorter WR in the other slot (Shep to play only 1 series) (Quick, Bennett, Humphrey, and Bothum). Dede Westbrook, KJ Young, D Neal, Jeff Meade, and Dallis Todd at outside receiver.
OL: St John, Danley, Darlington, Dalton, Farniok; 2nd team: Brown, Hartsook or Hardaway, Wren, Alvarez, Frison).
Going to see lots of walkons play tomorrow.
I don’t want to see Farniok on 1st team RT. Frison is better.
And this comment is based on how many practices have you been too? Curious.
I do not know much about Frison, other than what is reported, but unless DF has greatly improved, I stand by my comment. By the way this is not just my view. DF has slow feet.
Farniok has been a contributor to the OL since he was a R-Fr and has done pretty well at times. If the coaches believe he belongs there I’m all for it.
Geez, I’m not so sure the spring game is worth watching as a predictor of things to come. Particularly the secondary since brother Mike has made it clear he’s counting heavily on the 3 new DBs coming in August. The OL will be worth watching. Especially how well we run the ball in the new scheme when we run. Spring games on TV = very vanilla.
It probably isn’t a good predictor of the fall, just fun to watch a little football and see how the younger players are progressing.
Should be very vanilla on both sides of the ball.
3 new safeties and 2 CBs coming for the fall. If they play, they will have a learning curve like Parker and Thomas did this past fall. In the long term, they should be outstanding additions to the D.
The secondary, not the OL, is the key to our success this season I think. LR’s offense is going to kick ass. But we may have to score in the high 40’s or mid 50’s to beat opponents.
That’s the general feeling I have but I’m hoping the coaching changes/ moves will create some kind of spark on defense. Call me Mr. crimson I guess. 🙂
Me too. The new coaches and the new DBs.
Perdiction of fall out after Spring game: OU shows potential of awesome passing game, but secondary a big concern.
Which leaves the question: was the offense actually good, or was the defense that bad?
Unless there are a good number of drops I’d still give the wrs a thumbs up for that fact alone
It’s great if Westbrook and Andrews make some plays against the D. I just don’t want to see uncontested catches like we saw so much at the end of last year.
yeah hopefully they’re contested or at least not busts. Andrews should be hard to cover and the word on Westbrook is he really spreads the field with his speed and cuts…that’ll be hard for anybody to defend…pressure on qb would prob be the best compressor
..curious what happened to the poster, zack………he would normally be on here eating this recruiting etc up
Been quiet lately and he added good stuff.
He’s still around. He actually posted in this OP. Not as busy in the offseason.
If we can believe some of his past tweets re: love Norman, don’t want to leave…Urquidez seemed very high on OU. Gonna dream of a future oline that has him, Diesch and Boudreaux. C’mon, J.P.. Don’t crush that dream!!!
I hope that you’re right but you know when these kids visit a school they’re totally in love until they visit the next school the following week.
Anyway we should find out soon enough.
How can anybody really watch for stuff in the spring game or have expectations? The coaches will be hiding everything. Gonna be very vanilla.
That’s why I’m only watching throws and catches. Everything else will happen in the fall.
Correct. It’s footballish, and I will be watching.
Ladies leading the whorns 3-0 in the fifth.
Awesome!! I hope they pound them.
It’s now 5-0. We have made the whorns throw over 140 pitches so far.
It’s now 6-0 in the 6th with runners at second and third.
K, Jordan, or anyone who knows – how much “setting up” is there in these scrimmages? By that, I mean will M Stoops talk to Riley before a given series & say “we’re going to be in a 3-man front, nickel package, give us a heavy dose of interior runs to see how my guys respond.” Or vice versa where Riley wants to test one of his young WR’s. Or is it pretty straight-up?
The vibe I get is that bob just wants to get through the day with no injuries. For them, the game is just to get fans excited. I’m sure they will play straight up for a little while but by the second half it should be all third team guys and a running clock.
Exactly.
8-0 in the 7th, OU bats wearing the whorn’s pitchers out.
Is this game one or game two?
I came in late but I think it’s the one that was scheduled for 4 pm. Been a lot of time outs to work on the field.
Has Chamberlain homered?
I don’t think she did in the first game, the second should be underway but it’s not televised live….watching game stats on Sooner Sports.
Game two is in the bottom of the first right now.
She has homered in game two. Ou up 2-1 in the 5th.
Great! She’s one away from tying and two from breaking the record.
Men’s gymnastics championships about to get underway. Here’s the link to the live scoring.

Baseball taking on those damned longhorns.
For those without LHN

Looks like we’re going to be busy tonight, good thing I made it by the beer store.
Hope you got something good this time
You wouldn’t like it. 🙂
Shame on you
Nice double play there.
Those 5-4-3 DPs are always pretty
Pendley gave up a home run…..texsa leads 1-0.
Only the good news, please.
Ok, texsa sucks.
That’s better.
LOL.
Chamberlain!!!
HOME RUN!! Tie game.
Bases loaded with Casey at the plate.
Time for her second career grand slam.
Well, that was quick, bases still loaded 2-1.
Casey hit by a pitch, Sooners up 2-1.
Meanwhile, the men just tied it up 2-2 in the 7th.
Yep, got that on the tube and the ladies on the laptop.
Same here, except I’m on the pc.
Dang, bases loaded with one out and got nuttin’, that hurts.
Chamberlain is one HR away from tying the record…what a career.
She’s a champ.
Damn. That inning could have been HUGE.
Yep, sucks to leave those on base.
For those who are unable to attend, but want to watch anyways, here is the information directly from SoonerSports:
“Watch Live: Sooner Sports TV will broadcast the OU Spring Game live on FOX Sports Southwest and FOX College Sports, while the game will also be live streamed on SoonerSports.tv. Chad McKee and Joel Klatt will call the contest with commentary and analysis from Chuck Long, J.D. Runnels and Tony Casillas. The coverage begins with a pregame shot at Noon from the Big Boomer BBQ.”
I can’t promise the announcers won’t call the game like they’re watching 3 year olds on a playground.
DVR and snacks standing by.
All day we’ll hear negative thoughts from Klatt. Buffalo head.
Also, has anyone been to Spring Sale at the McCasland Fieldhouse? What can I expect?
Fair warning. It’s going to be crazy busy. It has been every year I was able to get down there. It could be a little down just because of expectations being low, but better to be over prepared in this situation I think.
Yeah, we planned and getting there fairly early. What are the sales like and is it a cash only type of thing?
The sales have always varied from year to year. As far as I remember they except the big 3 (cash, check or credit card)
Archie Bradley makes his MLB debut tomorrow against the Dodgers. The opposing pitcher? Just so happens to be Clayton Kershaw.

Just watched the Samaje interview on SoonerSports. One word: CLASS!
Mens gymnasts are one rotation away from title number 9! Come on guys!!
Hope they git’r done.
Fingers-crossed.
Interesting approach by the Texsa coaches/pitcher, walk Chamberlain and Pendley with no outs.
Things that make you go hmmm.
Ladies up 3-1, I’ll take it.
Yeah, buddy.
OU Men’s Gymnastics
2015 National Champions!!!!
–HOO!
Another addition to the trophy case coming soon.
It’s shaping up to be a great night for sooner nation now if only mens baseball can win in extra innings and mens tennis wins in waco.
And that does it! Your oklahoma sooners are the 2015 national champs!!
WHOO–
BOOMER!
S000NER!
Great showing by the Sooners, ice water in the veins!
Ball Game!
Good job, ladies. 3-1 in the second game for the sweep.
Nice win to clinch the series. Get that sweep tomorrow!!
Need the big broom for tomorrow.
I told you dustin last week i thought Shelby Pendley was the right move to put as our number two pitcher it payed of tonight.
how many seniors on the OU girls team : Pendley, Chamberlain, Vest and ??????? anybody.?…thought they played very well in Austin and could have ended game #1 early with a couple of hits in the early innings . lots of baserunners left stranded…… two quality wins…well done……nice surprise victory from Hughes BB team after the blowout loss to the Pukes earlier in the week….
Whoopin texsa twice in the same night is sweet.
Indeed.
https://twitter.com/ou_mgymnastics
What a finish. The look on his face is excellent.
The 16.45 from Squires was the turning point. Up until then, we were a little bit flat.
Looks like the football team was watching. Stoops, Mayfield, Knight, and Sanchez tweeting fast.
That’s great to see.
Yes. They should have the Gym and Tennis teams make a showing at the spring game for some love.
The night just keeps getting better.. Mens tennis takes down Baylor in Waco, 4-3!!
I feel like if I look outside….I’ll see a crimson moon. 🙂
Best night for sooner nation in a long time.

Now let’s hope the women’s gymnastics team win’s down in texas next weekend.
Men take the lead 3-2.
Big time 2-out knock from O’Brien. Needed that one.
It was beautiful.
Wish I’d seen it.
My TV has NEVER been on the LHN this long, hope it doesn’t burn up.
I..uh..just realized I have never had this channel on.
I only tune in for things like this or if I notice a classic Red River Replay.
They only show RRS games where the wHorns win, so I never watch.
I won’t watch it
Still got a runner in scoring position. Need to bring him home.
Yes!
Austin O’Brien with a huge hit! Sooners 3 outs away from getting the dub!
Need a little defense here.
LHN must have a limited amount of commercials they show.. If I see that commercial about the grand ball room one more time I may gouge my eyes out. I swear I’ve seen it 20 times in the past few hours.
They have limited commercials because they have limited viewers.
What do you expect from them, their school color is that of ‘diaper surprise.’
Baseball wins 3-2!!
What a great day!
And we get to see our football team strut their (limited) stuff tomorrow.
This is turning out to be a great weekend! The best weekend for ou in a really long time!
Yessir!
Personally, I needed this day. Was celebrating my oldest brother’s birthday yesterday and got a phone call that my middle brother died from a massive heart attack.
Still feel kind of weird, but today has given me a big boost.
Sorry to hear about your bro… I know the feeling.
Losing a sib, it sure hits close to home…don’t it?
Yes it does. Hard to imagine it, until it happens. Blessings and prayers to your family.
Salamat po.
Walang anuman.
Aw man I hate to hear that! My prayers are definitely with your and your family!
Appreciate it.
Very sorry to hear that. My prayers are with you and your family.
Sorry to hear about your loss EasTex. My sincere condolences.
I pray for you EasTex and the family of your brother.
May God hold you and yours gently in the palms of His loving hands. Sending comfort, peace and support.
Thanks for the kind words, y’all.
My condolences EasTex. Never lost a sibling, but lost my mom my senior year of h.s.. God’s plans work in mysterious ways and may your brother rest in peace.
So sorry for your loss Tex, sending prayers.
Tex, sorry for the loss of your brother. My four brothers and I met in Houston, Tx two weeks ago and spent 5 days together. Oldest is 84 and I am the youngest at 67.
My sincerest condolences EasTex to you and your family. Prayers sent your way. May you see him in Paradise!
Tex- sorry for your loss.
sorry to hear this news brother. take care
All my thought E-Tex. Sorry is the best we can do and it’s pretty thin.
Yep, Softball beats texsa, Twice!!!
Baseball beats texsa.
Mens Gymnastics wins Natty…
OHHH SOOOOOO GOOD!!!
Don’t forget about the #1 Men’s Tennis beating BU.
yes, and W_Tennis getting back on the winning track against K-State
OU takes #1 over the whorns!
Great day for Sooner Nation. Gonna call it a night. Big day tomorrow.
Boomer Sooner!!!
Hasta!
I hope the football team pulls out a win tomorrow. 🙂
Is there a spread? :-0
I’ve got my money on the blue jersey staying clean. 🙂
That depends on how nasty Strike is feeling… 🙂
You won’t see a strike fest in the spring game…..sorry.
Especially if he were to touch one of those blue jerseys… I am not dis-illusioned on what to expect tomorrow. Main characters will be on limited display. But, I did love the show he put on last year.
Perrine and Shep will both play today but with Blue Jerseys. Like they did AD in the Spring game his sophomore year.
BC—-agreed . Not very much of the offense will be showcased. Don’t expect to see any passes directed towards the TE’s and few to the RBs’..this should be a very ‘vanilla’ scrimmage….
Yep, gotta hit the hay myself. Gotta get up early to drive the 2 hours to Norman. Wanna be there to do some tailgating… uhhhh, huuuhh
I hear the Vodka waffles are pretty good.
As are the Tater Tot Waffles.
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2J_m5XCNIlg/UhfLFrRnKZI/AAAAAAAAJ0g/EZlTppGIQvE/s1600/tatertotwaffle3.jpg
HOLY AWESOME!!!
mmmmm, sounds good. I will be doing sausage, eggs, and plenty of hot salsa… would be good made into sandwich with the Vodka waffles… dipped in beer?
Changed the channel because for some reason the texsa band was playing “I’ve been working on the railroad”.
…all the danged long day…
You know, the silly shorthorns could finish that stupid railroad if they knew what they were doing – Mac must be the chief design engineer.
I am off to a marriage workshop our church is hosting then prom for my HS son, and lastly tonight I preach at a drug rehab center at 7 pm. Not sure I will have time to tune into the Spring game today. Please keep this board updated with all the noted info and your incredible opinions. Blessings,
No rest for the wicked=no rest for the righteous.
Glad you are working for the good guys.
Noble way to spend the weekend. We’ll have notes ready
If you have fox SW you might be able to record it. Just a heads up!
Good work ahead !! Hope it’s a different audience at each event!

Folks, Folks…..
Its Football Day!!!!!!
Booooomer!
Only 147 days until the 2015 season starts.
S000NER!
I will be there, SOONER!!
I think Stoops might make it more like flag football with all the guys who are out.
Sadly I am not in the right region to get the game on TV. 🙁 Debating right now whether it’s worth paying the $20 to watch it live or just wait until someone posts it on YouTube.
JMO, but I’d save your money. As you said, it will be available online probably even later tonight I’d imagine
I’m kinda leaning that direction. Thanks! I’ll just amuse myself with replays of the 2013 Sugar Bowl in the meantime. 😉
Just FYI Kevin. The spring special offer at Soonersports.com is coverage for the next six months. I don’t know if that would include that one game every year that tends to be PPV. Like most here I watch replays on YouTube very often as well as other games. The Soonersports site has game replays but it’s sped up to so that each play picks up at the line of scrimmage and cuts out all that dead time. A full game replay is condensed to about 55 minutes.
Thanks blaster.

No surprise, but for the sake of full disclosure.

SC & ND are always tough to beat out on guys like Kelly, hopefully the relationship we’ve had wins out…
USC has been making serious inroads with the Schools in the Cali Central Valley. Kelly remains me a lot of Matthews his last year at SC.

This should be a good 7 on 7 game. 🙁
Get the secondary plenty of reps.
No kidding. Might be easier to make a list of who is playing today.

So no commit(s) thus far this weekend?
Nice video on Archie Bradley’s debut last night. Not only did he beat Kershaw, he singled in his first major league AB. Kid is gonna be something special.

Baseball team closes out a nice weekend, beating texsa 3-2, to take the series.
Been a great weekend for sooner nation.
Greg Eisworth committed to Ole Miss. Apparently, “He couldn’t see himself going anywhere else.” This, after a great visit to OU earlier this year that had OU in a big lead. What a huge slap in the face to our program. Apparently Ole Miss is so much better than OU guys!
OK Prep Austin Quillen to Vandy.
