Open Post | Weekend, Jan. 30 – Feb. 1 (UPDATE Sun., 4:08 pm)

Happy Friday y’all. Not a ton of new recruiting information, but maybe it’s the calm before the storm.

– Dahu Green and the Other ‘Secret’ Visitor: Just wanted to note that Dahu was one of the two ‘secret’ official visitors expected in Norman this weekend that we mentioned in yesterday’s Open Post. We then later released Dahu’s name only after he gave us the go ahead to do so. We haven’t, however, been given the green light to release the name of the other ‘secret’ visitor. But for those of you who pay attention to ratings and offers, he’s a highly rated recruit that OU offered last year but never really had much of a shot at…until now. We don’t know how it’s going to play out, but we’ll let you know more when we can.

– Josh Wariboko: Last night the one-time OU commit tweeted out that he will also be in Norman this weekend. Our guy Brandon has been in regular communication with the big guy much of the week, which leads me (K) to the following. As most of you know by now, there isn’t much guaranteed in recruiting. But based on how Brandon’s discussion with Wariboko have gone, I (K) am finally willing to concede that he may now be leaning towards OU.

About a month ago, Brandon predicted Josh would end up at OU. I, on the other hand, maintained that he would head out to UCLA. What seems pretty clear at this point is that although Josh was, for a brief time, very interested in Ohio State, that has passed. We again see this as an OU vs. UCLA battle, and the home team is definitely starting to build some momentum as things getting closer to Signing Day.

We’ll wait this one out with all of you, but Bill Bedenbaugh’s relentless efforts here have at least put the Sooners well within striking distance.

– Darrion Daniels: We included it in yesterday’s OP, but just in case anyone missed it one more reminder. OU target & 2015 DL Darrion Daniels will be announcing his commitment tonight (Friday) at 7pm on CBS Sports Network.

– The Numbers: It is our understanding that Oklahoma is looking to take 25 (maybe 26) recruits in this 2015 class. Including Overton, that puts the class as it stands today at 20. Thus obviously leaving five (maybe six) more spots. Here are some of the remaining targets that we consider realistic:

*Darrion Daniels

*Arthur McGinnis (visiting this weekend)

*Dahu Green (visiting this weekend)

*A.D. Miller (visiting this weekend)

*Josh Wariboko (visiting this weekend)

*Secret Possible Flip 1 (visiting this weekend)

*Secret Possible Flip 2

– UPDATE (Fri., 9:03 am): Positive news as Arthur McGinnis looks to be on his way to Norman.

– UPDATE (Fri., 11:33 am): Bovada has just put out their 2015 Heisman Trophy odds and there is one OU player included. That guy is Samaje Perine and Bovada has him currently at 14/1 odds. You probably don’t need us to remind you Trevor Knight was included on similar lists this time last year, and we all know how that worked out. For whatever it’s worth — considering it is January — tOSU running back Ezekiel Elliott is the betting favorite at 6/1.

– UPDATE (Fri., 7:26 pm): As most, if not all, of you are already aware, Darrion Daniels has committed to Ok. State.

UPDATE (Fri., 8:51 pm): Many of you have likely seen the note that Will Sunderland retweeted, indicating that he is, at the last minute, considering Ohio State. I (K) have some connections to the Ohio State program and I can tell you that they do not have room for Sunderland and would not take him at this point. I don’t know Will’s intent in putting out that note but I’m quite certain, if he believes Ohio State would take his commitment at this point, he is mistaken.

– UPDATE (Sat., 10:16 am): Suppose there are any number of ways you could read into this one.

– UPDATE (Sat., 11:14 am): It’s fairly obvious that Josh Wariboko and Dahu Green made it in, and Arthur McGinnis tweeted that he was on his way to Norman. So it’s not necessarily “news” that we’ve been able to confirm all three are in fact in town, but we can also confirm that A.D. Miller made it in as well. We can also confirm that the ‘secret’ visitor did make the trip to Norman as planned. No word yet if there are any surprise visitors, but we’re continuing to try and check to make sure.

– UPDATE (Sun., 12:54 pm): First real sign of life from AD Miller on his OU visit this weekend.

– UPDATE (Sun., 4:08 pm): 2015 WR A.D. Miller, who was just in Norman this weekend, has tweeted that he will be announcing his commitment later this evening.

Flip ’em, coaches. Or as Lou Holtz would say: “Fluhpths thlem, cloath-chesth”

  • Soonerfandave84 says:

Hoping for the unlikely tonight, Sooners could really use Darrion Daniels

    • vargo05 says:

Why do you think it’s unlikely? Word is it’s OU or OSU.

      • Soonerfandave84 says:

Read a couple places he really liked Iowa…Just cant see what Ferentz is selling but just what I’ve read

        • Jordan Esco says:

They also recently offered his little brother I believe

        • vargo05 says:

I heard he liked Iowa a bit too, but it didn’t sound like it was enough to change it from OU or OSU.

        • dd992emo says:

I’m beginning to think that some of these kids are a lot more marketing oriented that I realized. It looks to me that some of them think if they are the best player on a mediocre (but Power 5) team, that will serve them better on Draft Day. Big fish, small pond…

      • Jordan Esco says:

Some late steam for Iowa from what I’ve heard. But I honestly don’t believe anyone but the kid & his family have much of a clue what he’s going to do at this point.

  • vargo05 says:

    Maea Teuhema?

  • Doobie74OU says:

I’m feeling better about the close of this class seems like we are picking up momentum again

    • SCKSChief says:

I would really like to see a difference maker QB added sometime soon. Either that or they have to really be sure Mayfield or Hansen is that guy.

  • Chris White says:

I also thought Josh would be a sooner. He’s gonna be like Sooner Dave in the sense that he likes to travel on his breaks but he wants to be near family when it’s all said and done.

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

Wariboko might bring Lampkin with him(on NSD), I know they were pretty close at one time

  • vargo05 says:

Y’all didn’t include Daniels in your realistic targets. Oversight?

  • LongBomber says:

K, Jordan, just can’t tell you how much I enjoy the OP’s. Sure is a nice break from the normal day-to-day work-related tasks. Thank you for the incredible work you put in to make this site the best! Sure feels liike momentum is swinging in a positive direction as we draw closer to NSD. Looking forward to a few “BOOMS” over the weekend!

    • Jordan Esco says:

very cool to hear & we definitely appreciate you reading!

      • RocketCitySooner says:

You’re list Dahu Green as one of two secret official visitors at the top of the page. In “The Numbers” section you list Dahu, Secret Possible Flip 1, and Secret Possible Flip 2.

Does that imply that Dahu was one official (and formally secret) visitor, there is another second secret official visitor, and another secret visitor that is not an official visit?

        • boomersooner says:

My guess to what they’re saying is dahu + 1 this weekend plus another either they have a little knowledge of flipping or could be the annual mystery type flipper

          • RocketCitySooner says:

You maybe right. I was pointing out that it appears it’s Dahu plus two secret visitors so it had to be three secret visitors to begin with. I went back to an earlier post where Jordan first mentioned these secret visitors and he did say ‘at least two’.

          • boomersooner says:

Ooh nice good catch. The more the merrier this weekend

          • Fear The Magic says:

So bascially its one secret visitor who might flip plus one double secret flipper who might or might not flip plus one unsecret (now ) visitor who will probably flip and two flippers that arent so secret especially if they end up not flipping because one of the other flippers did flip.
            We all clear now?

          • RocketCitySooner says:

I do not know how anyone could have summed it up so succinctly as that. Question: what’s does one call a flipper who does not flip? Would that be a flapper or a flopper?

          • Fear The Magic says:

            I call it Kyler Murray
            and ty for the compliment.

          • boomersooner says:

            Sounds right

        • Jordan Esco says:

Dahu was a ‘secret’ visitor and a possible flip.

There is still another ‘secret’ visitor who is also a possible flip.

And another possible flip who is not visiting this wknd.

          • RocketCitySooner says:

Thanks. There were three secret possible flippers of whom only two are visiting this weekend. Got it.

        • steve says:

peat is a soft verbal @ ucla. maybe he’s one?

    • Doobie74OU says:

  • Maverick says:

What if Bob was one of us… Just a stranger in the fuss, trying to post his wayyyy home.

No but really, it would be awesome if Bob posted on here, I bet he’d be ignored for not knowing anything, lol.

  • Puma says:

I can only hope one of those secret flips is a linebacker

  • Lane Gilstrap says:

I’m thinking that the possible flips are DuVonte Lampkin and either Cam Townsend or Anthony Wheeler. No sources, just guessing.

  • Jordan Esco says:

    update added

    • Lane Gilstrap says:

Glad to see Wariboko is visiting. I still can’t remember where I saw it but it looks like it was right.

  • Puma says:

Not sure if TFB can say but is the secret visitor on an official or unofficial visit?

  • James D-Space says:

Good stuff today TFB. Thank you for the updates!
Here’s hoping for a strong close by the staff this weekend!

  • McKinzie says:

Am I the only one who sees a long weekend of checking Twitter and this site every 10 minutes?

    • Puma says:

Good thing it’s close to my phone data resetting for the month

      • McKinzie says:

Fortunately I am still grandfathered in on my provider’s unlimited data plan. Plus, I’m almost always on a WiFi connection on the weekends.

  • D'Brickashaw Ferguson says:

Got a good feeling that good news will come this weekend. #justwaitonit #hakunamatata

  • Jeff says:

Thought other sites said Green was visiting earlier this week?

    • Jordan Esco says:

They did not. Many might have assumed it, but TFB broke the news of it actually happening yesterday.

      • Indy_sooner says:

Missing a “get it right” there huh… Am ribbing ya there, TFB was the first to report this one #respect

  • Tim Wilson says:

    EJ Levenberry? <—-wishful thinking

    • F1at1ined says:

I would love that. It may be Teuhema, Pat Allen, Townsend or Feihoko.

    • Jordan Esco says:

Checked on this when word broke that he was leaving FSU, and for whatever reasons OU just isn’t looking to get involved (or at least weren’t at that time. I suppose that could have changed, but I haven’t heard anything to that effect).

  • D'Brickashaw Ferguson says:

“But for those of you who pay attention to ratings and offers, he’s a highly rated recruit that OU offered last year but never really had much of a shot at…until now.”

So you’re telling us Iman Marshall is visiting?!

  • OUZach says:

So the Secret Possible Flips are both committed to other schools right now, so that would rule out any transfers, correct?

    • Jordan Esco says:

I don’t know that we can rule it out as that’s not something we’ve really heard anything about, but I guess that does confirm that these possible flips are not transfers, yes.

  • F1at1ined says:

Dream scenario – all visitors (be it 5, 6, 7 etc) all bond and have such a great time they all agree to become the Fab Five, Sweet Six or Magnificent Seven Sooner commits. It is definitely encouraging that we can get these guys onto campus on the final recruiting weekend of the recruiting season.

  • SCKSChief says:

Any buzz on QBs? Or are they content to move forward, gag, with what they have? Some targets may have been discussed, but they’ve since slipped the old rusty steel trap. I’ve already moved on from BOTH QBs that played this year and am hoping that Mayfield or Hansen can be the guy…but not overly hopeful that a difference maker QB is on the current roster.

    • BoomerDave says:

You’ve moved on too fast, Chief. Who knows what a change in coaching, systems and a competitive spring and fall camp can do for our 4 QB’s. That includes Knight and Thomas.

      • SCKSChief says:

Meh. I’ve seen enough. I’m a Chiefs/Royals fan. I’m tired of the “they’ll better next year…just because” mantra.

      • soonerinks says:

I am going to give all of our QB’s a clean slate and hope that at least two of them thrive under a new OC and a defined system. I believe they will.

      • cpearc00 says:

        I hope you’re right….but I highly doubt you are 🙂

      • boomersooner says:

I would love a jimmy kimmel or some such that shows players actually going to people’s places of business and giving them the what for or booing them and saying they suck at their jobs. I think that would be hilarious

    • Jordan Esco says:

QB in this class just isn’t happening. Time to move on.

      • SCKSChief says:

        Welp…there goes my Friday! LOL

      • vargo05 says:

I’ve seen people mention that Connor McGinnis out of Heritage Hall OKC is likely to be a walk-on or preferred walk-on. Any truth to that?
Also, any other walk-ons you’ve heard of OU being likely to get that we’ve heard of?

        • Jordan Esco says:

I’ll be honest, that kind of stuff is pretty hard to track unless you’re trying really, really hard. And at this point, w/ NSD just days away, other things have taken a much higher priority. Maybe after next Wed we can try and dig up some names.

          • vargo05 says:

No problem Jordan. Just wanted to see what’s out there. I’m hoping LB Calieb Booze of Edmond North is another.

      • Fear The Magic says:

It makes sense that unless we hit one out of the park ( ie a top 5 QB ) that we don’t take a QB this year. This way next year we’ll be a very attractive option to top kids knowing there’s no one just a year up on them. Getting yet another mediocre QB was not the way to go.

Edit: Ok I just scrolled down and read where Soonerfandave said pretty much the same thing.

        • paganpink says:

I think there’s at least a 50/50 chance we get surprised at how good at least one of our present quarterbacks is with the new offense and coaches, as well. I really think we weren’t giving our guys the best chance and the best schemes to show what they can do. FWIW I don’t think it will be Trevor, although he’s a quality guy and very fast on his feet.

          • Fear The Magic says:

I completely agree. I think that between new and hopefully improved coaching and another year of experience a couple of out QBs will really show major improvement this coming year. To me it could be any of them including TK but I believe you’re right on the money here.

    • Jed says:

I Know I was interested in going after a stud QB. But that didn’t happen for whatever reasons. Taking stock, however, the sky isn’t falling. We’ve got a new system being put in place with new coaches. Hopefully that means we keep a strong run game and adjust our passing game to get guys open in places where our QBs can make the throws. If I had one gripe about Josh it’s that he simply never adapted/adjusted. Hopefully Riley will.
We know that Knight can move and that he can throw when he moves. We also know he’s not a drop back passer and that he’s seemingly got a glass jaw.
Thomas and Hansen may be more prototypical pocket passers…with some set of wheels. We simply don’t really know yet.
And Mayfield. Dunno really what he is, except he seems to ooze joy and wanna and ‘win’.
And, between the four, we’ve got upwards of 4 years of eligibility. So we need a guy next year, and he needs to be good, but we’re not urgent right this second. We don’t have a guy who’ll take us to the playoffs, probably. But, that’s as much due to the questions about the rest of the team. We’ve got ‘enough’ for the moment.

  • Daddy R says:

I know we knew this, but I wanted DEAN to be 100% correct, without a doubt!

  • BoomerDave says:

Kudos to Will Sunderland who comes up to OU each and every weekend to help with recruiting. This kid is so excited about being a Sooner and helping to build a great recruiting class!

    • vargo05 says:

To think there were clown posters over at SoonerScoop who said he doesn’t make the effort to recruit other guys. Some of those guys over there are looking for any reason to complain about anybody and everybody.

      • sooner8 says:

        Did you mean SoonerPoop?

        • vargo05 says:

The info Josh gives over there is top-notch. Outside of that the place can be rather nauseating.

      • Zack says:

I actually made comments like that over here because early on he wasn’t but I did give it up to him a couple months back for his efforts and for showing up every weekend. My complaint was that he was committed as soon as he was offered but he was wanting to wait until January to announce. When he announced back in September I was happy about it

    • Brian says:

Is Sunderland definitely in-town this weekend?

      • BoomerDave says:

He drives up every weekend to hang out with the guys and the recruits. He will be there tonight from what I’ve heard.

  • Brian says:

Other secret visitor – Prentice McKinney – It’s gotta be…

  • Exiled In Ohio says:

    HOUSTON!

  • Doobie74OU says:

Good news about the Hulk being on his way he has changed plans so many times I was worried a Hurricane would hit or something causing him to cancel his trip again!

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

Can’t fault the kid for cancelling his visit because of a playoff game.

      • Doobie74OU says:

Definitely not faulting him was just sure the way LB recruiting has went this year something else would come up! Glad it didn’t!

  • soonerborn says:

Would the other secret visitor by Tim Settle??? I thought he and DeBerry were believed to be a Duo early on in recruiting……..

  • bjwalker82 says:

So glad this weekend filled up.

    • SCKSChief says:

Now I hope they all make it!

      • bjwalker82 says:

It is Super Bowl weekend. I would wanna get home before the big game too.

        • Daddy R says:

Really though, if youre not a “fan” of either team, is this going to be the most hated, but watched super bowl ever? If I dont have a team in the game, I always try and pick a team to root for, usually the underdogs, but I for the life of me cannot pick a team to root for outta these two..

          • SCKSChief says:

I wish they could both lose. On the bright side, I’ve heard DIsh is utilizing a new tool for Monday, the reverse auto hop. This will apparently allow one to rewatch the SB and watch ONLY the commercials. That could be fun.

          • bjwalker82 says:

I agree, it’s a battle between America’s two most insufferable cities.

I have a party every year but it’s mainly so people can get together watch the commercials and chill.

        • soonerinks says:

I must be the only football fanatic in the country that never watches a Super Bowl. The over-the-top hype soured me many, many years ago.

          • BleedCrimson says:

I pretty much tune in for the game, but skip all of the pre-game talking heads…

          • boomersooner says:

Yeah. Unless my bears are in it, ts just a bunch of blowhards taking up airspace

          • EasTex says:

I am here to assure you that you aren’t alone, but for different reasons.
Haven’t watched a SB since ’93. I always watch the Puppy Bowl, though.

          • Jed says:

Spot has some mad straight line speed, but Rover’s gonna cover him all afternoon.

          • soonerinks says:

            Well played.

          • Jed says:

I cheated: I play Frisbee with border collies and Irish setters. We OWN the passing game.

          • EasTex says:

I love the kittehs a lot.

          • Jed says:

Uber athletic, but no stamina or work ethic. Gimme a pup any day!

          • EasTex says:

I can train any dog to do exactly what I want it to do.
I can train any cat to do exactly what it wants to do.
Must be the Scots-Irish in me, I love that about the kittehs.

          • Jed says:

I like the kittehs, too. But you need to walk a sleety wheat field or hillside, engaged in mutual labor with one of those dogs to see the full engagement of minds that, in today’s world, are mostly bored to death and half neurotic.
Don’t leave your cell phone lying around. The setter will call out for pizza and the collie will be making some over aggressive trades with your 401(K)

          • paganpink says:

My old cat, Mrs. Stubbs, used to go on walks around the block with me. Not on a leash but following closely albeit in fits and starts. We found her as a stray with her tail hanging on only by the skin after some sort of accident. My wife cut it off with scissors. The amputation left her with a bobtail and she appreciated it so much she never left again. Super affectionatec cat that thought she was a dog or something and acted like one.

          • EasTex says:

I’ve had some great hound dogs over the years, but some of the finest people I’ve ever known were cats.

          • soonerinks says:

Me too, but that is probably because my wife is a huge fan.

          • EasTex says:

            What’s not to like?
They play their game with pure joy in their hearts with little fanfare or hype.

          • EasTex says:

I will be pulling for Team Ruff, they have BOOMER.

          • Clint Lenard says:

I’m glad they’re using shelter dogs now. Makes much more sense.

          • soonerinks says:

            Now you’ve hooked me!

          • Daddy R says:

I used to love the ‘bud bowl.”

          • Defend Colfax says:

Never watch the Super Bowl? So does that mean you’re just a college fan or are you like a Lions fan or something?

          • soonerinks says:

Hardly ever watch the Pro’s (occasionally watch the Chiefs). Just never found it very interesting.

          • Mysterio1 says:

I haven’t really cared about the SB for years. I’ll take a College game anyday.

  • Zack says:

But the highly rated guy we offered a long time ago is currently committed somewhere based on yesterday’s clues. McKinney is a good guess I think for those who mentioned him. I’m going with Cantrell though

    • Clint Lenard says:

The tight end? “highly rated’ doesn’t seem to match up in this case. Neither does McKinney.

      • Zack says:

4 star. Is that not high enough?

        • Clint Lenard says:

When I read “high ranking,” I’m assuming it’s someone ranked high, not just stars. The only place he’s even ranked is in 247, and that’s at like 230 something. They may have a different opinion on “high ranking,” but I’m assuming they meant based on a ranking system, such as Rivals’.

      • Zack says:

But I was looking at local-ish guys who may be victim of a numbers game. Arky has 3 committed TE right now according to 247.

        • Clint Lenard says:

Then again, I could be mistaking rated for ranking there. Oh well, I hope it’s someone a bit more useful and better than a local TE that has a few offers. No offense to the kid, but that just wouldn’t be a position of need as of now.

    • Mr. Jones says:

Based on those committed elsewhere who are highly rated: Deionte Thompson, Teuhema and Kendall Sheffield all seem to fit the criteria to me.

      • Zack says:

Sheffield is a good one. His dad is an OU fan right?

        • Mr. Jones says:

Not completely sure, but I thought there was some type of family connection. All three are from Tx which at least gives us a proximity advantage.

    • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

Cosgrove Shumway and Doink Ahanahue are my guesses.

    • Stephen says:

      Darrin Kirkland

    • Lane Gilstrap says:

Can we really say Whitfield is “highly rated”?

      • vargo05 says:

He wasn’t meaning McKinley Whitfield. He means Prentice McKinney, a DB from Texas.

        • Lane Gilstrap says:

Well after they told Darreyl Patterson they were done recruiting at this position this guess wouldn’t make sense.

  • steve says:

secret visitor? my guess is the te/de from kansas….josh moore

Disclosure: not a Pats fan, dislike the Hawks.

          • Daddy R says:

I bought a juicer a couple weeks ago to get more fruits and veggies in my diet, and I affectionately refer to myself as a “juicer.” So when I saw ‘juicehawks,’ for a second I was like, “wait, Seahawks are juicers too!?” ha!

          • rphokc says:

just curious……….have you found the juicer to be of benefit yet

          • Daddy R says:

absolutely! I’ve used it everyday for 2 weeks, twice a day. I’ve had more fruits and veggies in my body in the last 2 weeks, than easily the last 2-4 months! I enjoy working out, so I’m decently active, but the addition of all these nutrients have already given me more energy and my skin’s complexion looks healthier than ever. I’m excited to continue and see what happens.. I say its a great addition to any eating lifestyle.

          • MoJoOkie says:

            Brand?

          • Daddy R says:

I researched and researched on Amazon to compare prices, ability, reviews… etc. And I didnt want to spend much on my very first one.. Some guy bought the $100 Breville, and the $50 dollar hamilton beach big mouth. He did this to compare side by side, and came to conclusion that Hamilton Beach for 50, was every bit as comparable as the $100 Breville.

I found the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth juicer at Target for $50 and went with it. No regrets so far, as it has actually exceeded my expectations.

But then again, its only two weeks so far. Hopefully it lasts!

          • rphokc says:

interesting, congrats……….if you don’t mind, what brand name did you purchase……….I considered doing this a while back and got overwhelmed with the different types……….I’m big on personal recs but don’t know anyone who has one……respond if you’d like…….thxs

          • BleedCrimson says:

I have been using a Breville 800 for about 2 years, no problems and love the results. Worth every penny

          • Daddy R says:

Hamilton Beach, for $50* (*I responded to brand under MoJoOkie’s comment with explanation as to why I picked HB… would post again, but dont want to be redundant…) Good luck! But definitely worth it for health!

  • Zack says:

For McGinnis, if he leaves campus not committed then I feel like our chances drop significantly. If the other schools were up against are Arizona and tech, and we can’t sell him with our extreme need come 2016 then imo that’s a bad sign.
For those who have followed recruiting more the last several years, can you name guys we missed out on late or on nsd to tech?

    • vargo05 says:

Just looking over their commits, WR Devin Lauderdale, who ended up having to go JUCO, in 2013 is one. Over the last 5 years, he’s really about it. We rarely lose any guys to them, unless they are local guys who commit early. This year has been a real aberration as Fehoko, Akamnonu, Coutee, and Dyer are all guys we’ve offered who chose them. Stidham would have been one too, if he hadn’t flipped to Baylor. But

      • Zack says:

Yeah I know this has been a weird class where all those guys committed early and I figure we lose guys early all the time but late we are known for closing so it may come down to us and Arizona for mcginnis

    • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

Agreed on McGinnis. If this is Kish’s recruit, then he needs to get McGinnis. I like McGinnis’ potential.

  • Indy_sooner says:

Great news on getting AMG to campus. Just having him and the other recruits over on the final weekend is a HUGE win for us.

  • Jason Vos says:

Keep the Kish of death away from any recruits that will be in Norman, especially McGinnis and we will have a chance to get all

    • Zack says:

Some guy over on ss says there’s a story going around that kish was on the phone with Houston for 3 hours yesterday

      • Jordan Esco says:

It’s from OUI, originally, and it isn’t going to make any kind of difference. He is going to USC.

        • rphokc says:

……doubt it, what the hell would they have to talk about for 3 hrs

        • SoonerfanTU says:

Maybe. But if you are going to bash Kish, at least give him credit for trying and putting forth the effort, even when it’s a longshot. No way Houston stays on the phone that long if he isn’t into what Kish is saying.

          • EasTex says:

Smith and his Dad both stated a few weeks ago that they really liked Kish.

            EDIT: Houston not Smith

          • SCKSChief says:

            Have they met him?

          • EasTex says:

            Not certain.

          • Jordan Esco says:

We’ve heard time and time again how much kids (and really most people in general) like the guy, but at the end of the day it’s about closing them. And he has not proved capable of doing so.

          • SoonerfanTU says:

I believe there is more to it than that. No way THAT many LB’s like him THAT much, and yet he fails on all of them, only b/c of his own ability to close. Odds don’t work that way. But keep blindly hatin’.

          • Jordan Esco says:

Well, then what is it? You can tell me what you think it isn’t, but if you’re not offering any type of alternative theory other than “it can’t be that” then I’m afraid your stance doesn’t hold much water.

And not to be “that guy” but if you think knowing what I/we know that I’m just blindly hatin’ then I don’t really know what else to tell you.

The fact are the facts. The guy can’t land kids at LB. How in any way is that an unfair statement given the results he has, or hasn’t as it were, produced during his time in Norman?

          • Jeremy Phillips says:

The defense overall could have something to do with it.. Mike totally screwed him over when he took all of the LB’ers off the field for his spread defense experiment… Kish landed 3LB recruits just last year.. plus Andrews…

          • Josh says:

That’s something that would actually work as an advantage IMO, shows lack of talent at the position and chance at early playing time. No coach ever wants to play with 0 LBs but when Tom Wort is your best player at the position… you’re in terrible trouble.

          • Stephen says:

The term ‘Kished’ was not created out of blind hate. It was created over a long span of dry recruiting and only amplified by a miserable season.. Nobody said he’s a bad guy or doesn’t have character, he just doesn’t get it done as a coach, which is why I have created another moniker for the situation, ‘TK0’.

          • JTrain51 says:

Careful Jordan soonerfantu has a special kind of love for tim “the recruiter” Kish.

          • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

And you’ve had your torch out for some time now. Even if Kish were to get McGinnis you wouldn’t be able to see past your bias to give him credit. I dare you to try.

          • JTrain51 says:

You want me to give a guy credit for pulling a 3 star linebacker after missing on literally everyone else he’s recruited?! I hope we get McGinnis, we need him and in my opinion he’s better than a 3 star lb. But that doesn’t excuse the fact that Kish is a terrible recruiter. I don’t even see how you and soonerfantu and the 1 other guy on here that’s a Kish fan can’t admit that. We were sold a bill of goods that Kish was this great recruiter. He misses on everybody. Thank goodness we have Monty or we wouldn’t even have a lb in this class. After OU’s tradition at lb and the fact that we are in dire need of lb’s it should be easy to get high rated lb’s committed but we’re not. Why is that? You seem to think you know everything so why can’t Kish get any lb commits?

          • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

Your reading comprehension is poor, and you probably haven’t read everything I’ve posted.

I’ll state again very clearly. I’m underwhelmed by Kish. A lot of recruiters will miss on more recruits than they get.

However, the difference between you and me is that I actually don’t claim to know everything. That’s why I don’t have a torch out for him. I don’t know what players truly think about Kish or why they chose not to commit to OU. You seem to know these things because you’re convinced that Kish is awful, terrible, worthless, and should be fired.

I don’t get that inflammatory. You think (and stated) that OU should be able to get almost whoever they want at LB. It doesn’t work that way.

I’ve asked you and other Kish haters to explain why you don’t like him so much because I assume I must be missing something. Yet, most of you can’t really explain why. Many simply don’t even respond. You’ve tried and seem to have some reasonable thoughts. However, it’s clear you feel the need to explicitly express your distaste for him, and it’s old.

Don’t think of me as indignant if I ask you or anyone else to explain why you hate a coach so much and feel the need to, at every appropriate moment, to tell everyone about it.

I’ll continue to play fight with you because you’re just too much fun.

          • JTrain51 says:

Speaking of poor reading comprehension I never said they should be able to get “almost whoever they want at lb.” I stated they should be able to get some highly rated players at lb and they should. They can’t get everyone they want but they should be able to get some of them. I don’t know how to explain it any more simply for you. You keep asking why I don’t think Kish is right for the job (I never attacked his personality or character) I’ve stated that it’s because he cannot recruit. That’s not even debatable in my and most everyone else’s opinion. Recruiting is the lifeblood of a college football team. Want to argue that too then go argue with Switzer I don’t have time to explain it any more. I’m not sold on Kish’s coaching ability or development ability either but that’s more debatable than the recruiting aspect. Are there better lb coaches out there that OU could hire? I think most people would say yes. Are there better recruiting lb coaches out there that OU can hire? Again I believe most people would say yes. The thing about you commenting on my and other peoples posts is that you don’t even seem to have an opinion of your own about anything you just want to try and discount everyone else’s opinion. You can start arguments with me all you like, I’m game. But if you don’t have an opinion of your own don’t you have better stuff to do than argue something that you don’t even actually (apparently) care about one way or the other?

          • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

You’re too much fun. You actually stated “After OU’s tradition at lb and the fact that we are in dire need of lb’s it should be easy to get high rated lb’s committed”.

It’s my mistake that I took you comments farther than you stated. You didn’t say that OU should almost whoever they. Rather, you said it should be easy.

Let’s talk about why you think Kish is not a good coach. It’s “because he cannot recruit.” I think I’ve got it now.

Kish is not right for the job because he cannot recruit. This means that because he can’t recruit he’s not right for the job. This one’s a little tough. Circular, but I’m getting it. Still missing the details though.

At least you admit that there’s some room to debate about Kish’s coaching ability. Surely this means that you would have some information about Kish’s coaching techniques, drills, technical knowledge of the position and schemes. If you did, then we could debate the issues. When you have time please present that information so that we can debate the details.

Let’s now call out your comments about me not having an opinion. You like to quote people so quote what I wrote to you. Nah, I’ll do it. My opinion on Kish is “I’ll state again very clearly. I’m underwhelmed by Kish.” That’s my opinion on Kish. I’m underwhelmed by him. See it? It’s right there, my opinion on Kish. I’m underwhelmed by him. Underwhelmed. My opinion.

Also, please see below on what I said about Kish. I said that if McGinnis is Kish’s recruit, then he needs to get him. That’s also an opinion. It’s an implied opinion, meaning that due to his lack of getting gobs of LBs lately he needs to get one or we’ll all groan with disappointment.

I can haz opinions and will use them.

          • JTrain51 says:

I’ll give you this you’re the master at typing a lot of words without actually saying anything. You ask the same questions over and over. You say your underwhelmed by Kish but you seem to defend him at the same time depending on what you are attempting to argue at that particular time. You seem to agree that he can’t recruit (without actually coming out and saying it) yet you seem to want him to be OU’s lb coach going forward (without actually coming out and saying it). You seem to like to speak in circles and argue for the sake of arguing while giving no actual opinion at worst to a ambigious opinion at best. So let’s just make this easier. Go back and read my last rebuttal then come up with the same “argument” you make over and over then go back and read my last rebuttal again and then come up with your next nonoppinionated argument and then go back and read my last rebuttal and so on. That way you can get your argument fix all while I go forward and do other things I want/need to do all while answering the same questions you ask over and over again and ignoring your personal jabs and not having to read your lack of opinion on the arguments subject matter. Sound good? Mmmmmkay.

          • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

I appreciate more candid and objective thoughts on this or that coach. Many ’round h’yah deride a coach and say he can’t recruit or coach, but have few actual thoughtful comments on the matter. I’ve asked some people ’round h’yah for their comments and few have made any kind of reasonable statements.

According to various site databases, Kish has gotten some recruits; Evans, Alexander, and Obo are listed. However, I’m not sure if he was really their main recruiter, the person who had the most influence on them.

      • MrBigsby says:

I think by Houston, they mean the city in TX. He was just on the phone with the Bud brewery placing he and Mike’s beer order for the semester.

      • STL Sooner says:

  • Rob Stover says:

I am guessing that the other secret visitor is the OT commit to LSU. Maea

  • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

Who is the main recruiter for McGinnis?

  • Fear The Magic says:

I just wanted to give a special shoutout to coach Bedenbaugh. He has gotten commitments from (Per Rivals ) four 4* and one 3* recruits and if Wariboko commits that would make FIVE 4*. Hes totally knocked it out of the park for us this year. Kudos to Coach B.

    • EasTex says:

Combine those recruits with the players he brought in last year and he is a Super Star.

    • Mysterio1 says:

I like him, look for his lineman to get stronger and nastier.

    • Defend Colfax says:

      Run the damn ball!

      • D Hunter Sanchez says:

You need to be multiple to score. Even Bama brought in Kiffin to upgrade their air attack. The Air Raid we’ll be running will put out backs in one on one match ups…We’ll be able to run the ball due to the threat of the passing game, but with more lanes.

        • ND52 says:

Bama won 3 titles just on running the ball and playing defense. OSU won this year by doing the same.

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

OSU was able to pass as well. Notice that Bama hired Kiffin to upgrade the passing game? OU won a title with Leach’s offense.

          • ND52 says:

OSU ran the ball down people’s throats with a power running game and a stout defense: #5 rushing offense & #19 total defense,

Bama Got knocked out in the semi-finals with that upgraded passing game.

OU did not win it all in 2000 because of it’s offense. Heupel was banged-up in the last part of the season and OU survived on special teams and defense alone.

Offense does not win championships. Never has.

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

OU scored a lot of points over that 3 game stretch remember? You need to score in this league. TCU did well with a new passing scheme and a good defense. I used to believe the premise about a great running game and stout d, but so many NFL teams have turned to an air attack (Steelers, Pats etc…). If the Pats win today, it’ll be because of their ability to score more than the opponent. Conversely, the Seahawks do play the type of game I think you are talking about.
Are you against the Riley hire then? I like the move, as long as he runs the ball too.

          • ND52 says:

            Which three game stretch @dhuntersanchez:disqus?

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Victories over Texas, K ST and Nebraska in 2000. Averaged over 30 points. Like BS says got to be multiple and get stops.

          • ND52 says:

I’m not talking about those games @dhuntersanchez:disqus. And FTR, the defense played tremendously in two of those three games.

No, I’m talking about the last few games of the 2000 season where the offense was lethargic.

            At best.

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

I gotcha. I think we both agree that whatever the scheme, we have to get three and outs and allow less than 20 points a game.

          • ND52 says:

Not all the time @dhuntersanchez:disqus but when you run an offense predicated on hurry-up/no-huddle and wearing out the other team’s defense, well…………that can backfire you in a hurry if your QB is having a bad day or he get’s hurt.

It just seems to me that the HUNH is something that teams who can’t find physical ball-players rely on. And heck, OU had the 2nd largest O-Line in the country last year, regardless of level and still seemed afraid to run the ball at times.

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Yeah I agree it got frustrating at times, until we had to run because Thomas couldn’t hit a Bull’s ass with a bass fiddle…I want to run as well…but the air raid will set up the run. I guess we saw that they were correct in holding Knight back from running. But JH imho was not balanced enough run to pass. Agree.

      • Fear The Magic says:

Im thinking we’ll be Baylor with a heavy dose of Perine & co.

      • MoJoOkie says:

247 has his speed as 4.75 ,, could have something to do with it ,,he’s clearly faster than that and has good hands . wish we had a scholarship available ..
looks like we could use him in three or four different ways ..kind of guy Snyder- KState and Patterson @ TCU have made a living off of the last few years now .

        • paganpink says:

He does show all sorts of raw talent and looks football fast at times. Reminds me a little of Dez in how he simply pulls the ball away from defenders if they both get their hands on it. Bryant, for all of his character problems, may have not only some of the best hands but the strongest hands in the NFL. It would be nice to find someone like him to say the least.

    • Clint Lenard says:

Very few dudes standing 6’4″ can run a 4.4…but someone who runs a 4.3 would have offers from all over the country. He’s a 4.5 guy at best, but probably not playing the right position.

      • Daddy R says:

From his video, I agree with the 4.5 assessment. Does move pretty well, but his delivery looks a little funky.. Might be best as a receiver..

      • Chris White says:

I have watched him get clocked at a 4.36, he’s a soccer player and track runner. I do agree with both that he may need development in his arm or a receiver but there have been plenty of good players that were different positions in High School. Thank You

        • Bob Edwards says:

I can believe he was clocked at 4.36. However, high school 40 times are notoriously inaccurate. They are usually hand timed and not electronically timed. Even the college times listed often fall into this category. Players often lose 0.2 seconds from their college times when they run at the Pro Combine which is electronically timed.

Just realize that, even if he is a legit 4.36, no one is going to believe it until they have clocked him with their own equipment. 6’5″ and 4.3 are far enough outside everyone’s experience that they won’t believe it until its proven to him.

    • Katyboomer says:

put 40 to 50 lbs on him and he would make one heck of a TE. Maybe he will walk on and earn a Ship down the road

But I say he’s a LB or Pat Allen.

  • Thomas Lenard says:

re secret visitor: Did OU ever Offer TE from Roland, OK: Austin Cantrell??

    • Thomas Lenard says:

I only ask because he seems to be a perfect TE fit for the Hot Rod Lincoln Offense and it seems Riley has reached out to a lot of OK talent since his arrival.

    • MrBigsby says:

I think with his family situation, there’s no chance he goes anywhere but Arkansas.

      • Thomas Lenard says:

I feel the same, but I didn’t know if Riley could persuade him fromt he dark side….at least for a visit. He lives a lot closer to UA than OU, just would have loved to have gotten him.

  • SoonerFan11 says:

Gotta say your posts are generating so much attention that every major ou site has a discussion about what TFB have reported. Your killing it!!!

Sorry if I missed it, but has this “secret visitor” visited OU already? Either official or unofficial visit?

  • Fear The Magic says:

One of the better videos on the Internet. I watch it from time to time

      • Double G says:

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqK9a_zox4c
This one is my favorite. I was a freshman in highschool when the Sooners won the national championship in 2000. My dad had just retired from the military after 22 1/2 years of service in the Air Force and I can remember watching every one of these games with him (wearing his #88 Sooners jersey)and my little brother. Dancing around the living room whooping and hollering like crazy every time they scored or made a big play. . . I’ve loved Sooner football ever since and I think this video captures the Bob Stoops era of Sooner football in a way that most other video don’t.

        • Zack says:

I was 11 and don’t remember much about that year but I’ve watched that season highlight probably 10 times a year over the last 10 years and it gets better each time.
I can’t believe how good thatcher was and no one talks about him.

          • Double G says:

That season was definitely special and I also had forgotten how good (Thatcher) was until I watched the video Josh posted. His name may not come up in most of the Sooners related articles that I read outside of this website, but that man certainly had some wheels and a knack for weaving through traffic on his way to the end zone.

          • Zack says:

I saw 5 return tds in that highlight from him. Which makes last season even more head scratching that stoops didn’t have a real punt returner

          • Double G says:

I know, why even bother putting Shepard or Sanchez back there to field the ball if a) no one was going to block for them to set up a return and b) if they were going to just signal fair catch every time? We had more than enough quality RBs on the roster to let Ross, Smith, or Brooks get some extra PT returning punts.

I think one thing that the video Josh posted and the one I posted remind me is just how blessed we’ve been in terms of the type of talent we have had pass through Norman over the last 16 years – whether it’s WRs, RBs, QBs, LBs, D-linemen, O-linemen, or FBs and TEs we’ve had a quite a streak. Makes me think of a quote one of the guys from FoxSports1 said regarding the Sooners during this past season when Alex Ross took one 82 yards to the house during the Tulsa game “I’m reminded of Star Wars storm troopers, you take one guy out and its the exact replica” [coming back the next play].

So just out of curiousity… Where did the Striker shirt go… I just bought two shirts but didn’t see that one available???

  • Stephen Dale says:

If the other ‘secret, potential flip’ is a LB , hopefully he will see a real need at his position..I’m thinking AJ Levenberry is the mystery man.

Speculation is fun for sure but I love watching the kids I know will be Sooners… PJ is a BEAST!!

    • SamSooner says:

I don’t think I’ve seen a DB who baits a receiver more than PJ before the ball is even snapped. The receivers are running the route PJ wants them to rung and they are not aware of it. It’s subtle, but it’s there if you look closely.

PJ is the player I’m most interested to see play next year.

I think having Will Sunderland is a great thing. All of you Sooner fans know that there’s nothing better than an Oklahoma kid being able to go play for Stoops and company. And if all of the scouts are right, Sunderland will be really good, too. Just love how outspoken he is on describing his love for the program. It’s definitely refreshing.

          • EasTex says:

I am, lived in the Philippines for two years. The closer I am to the equator the happier I am.
I thought it was fun and pretty when I was a kid and school got canceled. I loved blowing up snow drifts with Cherry Bombs.
As an adult it has been nothing but trouble.

          • Fear The Magic says:

I’m like pavlovs dog. When I wake up and see a lot of snow out my window I get all giddy and think great no work today! Then reality hits me.

          • EasTex says:

The one incident with snow that ended any fondness I once had for it came in 1975.
I arrived at the Air Force Academy in May. Where I lived in the Philippines was 100 feet below sea level, the AFA is 7200 feet above sea level. I hated the lack of oxygen and the lack of humidity, lips split open/skin dried out/couldn’t climb a flight of stairs. I was young and healthy and soldiered on. Then, in the middle of June, after unbolting the hard top from my Triumph Spitfire and putting it in storage, I came home late one night and didn’t want to mess with the convertible top. I just stretched the tonneau over it, snapped it down and went to bed
I woke up a few hours later with a chill, looked out the window and there was two feet of snow. In the middle of June!
It was then that I realized that it’s true there is no clear definition of pornography, but you know it when you see it.
I was only at the AFA for a few months on a special assignment. When I got to Pueblo, Co. and turned SE headed for the Panhandle I saw the Rockies in my mirror.
I rolled the window down, extended my left arm and gave a gesture of digit disdain, vowing to never return.

          • Fear The Magic says:

GREAT STORY! The only difference between you and me is that if I did that Id have unfortunately not noticed the highway patrol car right behind me.

I generally have good awareness of my surroundings.

          • Easton says:

I did a similar thing, in reverse order. Oklahoma to the city of the AFA.

          • EasTex says:

At least in CoSpgs you don’t have to climb that ridiculous mountain and live up there. 🙂

          • Easton says:

I can only gaze in that direction as a citizen civilian.

          • EasTex says:

If I were there, it would not be a gaze but a glare.
Don’t get me wrong, was honored to serve and to be selected for the special assignment, but it was either volunteer or no telling where you will get sent. This was after they rescinded my orders for Homestead Florida.
            /*sniff*

          • Easton says:

My dad pulled four aces in a card game to determine who among four would go to Oxnard, CA, as a radar specialist, while the losers went to three stations in Alaska. I am fond of these stories. Air Force, circa 1955.

          • OohRah Mama says:

SAC brat here. Four years, eight months, three weeks, four and half days at KI Sawyer froze a hard hatred of snow and winter into me. I can’t even look at a leaping rabbit without thinking of the UP and getting chillblains.

          • EasTex says:

I did, but I sure don’t recommend one for high altitudes or climbing mountain roads.
On beautiful days, when it was all shined up in a hospitable climate and the top was down it was fantastic.
I could turn a circle in 17 feet with that rascal. It was what they called Ermine Red(almost burgundy) with the tan interior.
Funny thing is, I sold it in Austin to a guy that was a Major in the USAF finishing up his Masters and was being sent to NORAD, right back where I had been. LOL!

          • JB says:

Wow. I’m 41 and I don’t believe I’ve ever heard anyone say they hated “the lack of humidity” in my entire lifetime…not even when I lived in the ever humid Ark-La-Tex or Birmingham. Heck, I’m looking to move to Seattle in the next year because I can’t stand the humidity and heat of the months of July and August in Oklahoma! If I had my way, I’d be in Colorado right now. I’ll take the snow and the mountains any day over the heat, humidity, and the hundred million bugs they bring. When I lived in Shreveport, I hated the drive to my sister’s house in Dallas because I’d have to stop at 3 gas stations along I-20 because of all the bug guts on my windshield. I wish I were exaggerating.

That is a great story. Sorry about the Triumph though…that had to suck. I’ll leave it to the rest to decide which one of us is the crazy one for our weather preferences.

          • JB says:

Also, didn’t realize you were an AFA graduate. I thank you sincerely for your service to this country, and I know what it takes to get into the AFA. Clearly, you are a very intelligent man.

I haven’t seen this kid mentioned by TFB so correct me if I’m wrong. Dwayne Haskins Jr. a 5* QB that Lincoln Riley likes. What do you guys think?

    • Maverick says:

Not that I’m an expert QB evaluator, but he looks pretty good to me! It’s so hard from a highlight tape though, you really need to see the whole film.

He has good feet, stands tall in the pocket. Good not great arm strength, hard to evaluate accuracy on highlights, but looks pretty accurate too.

      • Chris White says:

I agree, he squares his shoulders very well and I like that he can stay in the pocket or pass out of it. Not one demensional

    • Daddy R says:

Impressive video. Good footwork, good mechanics. Arm definitely good enough for college. Love his command in pocket. Reminds me a little of Jason White.

  • Bob Edwards says:

I get the feeling Lincoln Riley is like the kid who has just sat down at the “grown up” restaurant for the first time. It make take him a little while to realize that he can order a steak instead of hamburger and fries.

  • RBear says:

The commit I am most excited about. He’s going to be a stud under JM. I can’t wait!

    • Lane Gilstrap says:

I think I’m most excited about Kahill Haughton. His pass coverage is excellent and I’m getting tired of seeing our safeties and corners get burned.

      • RBear says:

I guess I’m aching for the types of players that will take peoples heads off and inspire their mates to do the same.

    • SamSooner says:

Oh, my goodness. I can’t wait.

    • Clint Lenard says:

I still can’t figure out if he’s playing against some Tim Horton’s, hockey playing, 5′ 4″ white RB’s, or if he’s just that fast. He honestly looks quicker and faster than the RB’s in the film I’ve watched, including this one. It’s a bit mind blowing, like Clowney’s HS film, but like Clowney’s film, I feel like the competition makes him look a bit faster than he is.

  • Scott says:

hearing more and more that these 2016 LBs love kish, any chance this means Bob keeps him? also any more news on coaching changes (not hires)

    • BoomerDave says:

I’m sure he is keeping him. What makes you think otherwise?

      • Katyboomer says:

Just think if CJM had some help getting some of these young men on D to come to OU. How good of a class we could/would have? I think Kish needs to go, so we can get some help for CJM

    • Zack says:

If kish closes on mcginnis then I really don’t see any way you fire him to be honest. Yeah maybe missing on wheeler is a huge failure but most don’t think wheeler is special except somehow he jumped something like 150+ spots on rivals to near 70th best player.

To bring in 2 highly rated guys that could play as freshman (although I think they will/should RS) would go a long way toward showing he’s improving.

Also getting mcginnis and deberry would maybe open the door to finally take a flier on Whitfield

  • RBear says:

Setting the over/under on the number of days after NSD it takes to name a new WR coach at 2. What say you?

  • Stephen says:

Is Dahu Green a Sooner yet?

  • Jeff says:

Williams, the LB, the other secret recruit??

  • Okie403 says:

Howdy Fellow Sooners! Been reading the comments and discussion for a while. Finally decided to join in!
    First of all. BOOMER!
Second… Thx to the guys for having a great site! The chalk talk back in the season reminded me a lot of Monday’s in the film room. Coach and that darn 16mm film. ( yes. I’m old). Able to see all screwup from Fri 1 glorious frame at a time. Forward backward several times!!! And the older I get, the better I was!
Third. About me. Probably in the sunshine pumper camp but also realist. Don’t mind calling a spade a spade but have no time for constant negativity and know it alls. Their is LT and other sites for that!

Now my question. What recruits etc would require the OU jet to make a round trip to Des Moines and St. louis today?

    SOONER!

  • Exiled In Ohio says:

Dang my bro @kp_projectt is really thinking about Ohio state! But we will see at national signing Day .. #sooners vs #buckeyes

      • Jordan Esco says:

I mean I don’t have any “inside info” but IMO they’re just f’ing around. Of all the guys I wouldn’t be worried about, Sunderland w/b at the top of the list. Plus his tweet I posted below, fwiw.

        • Soonerfandave84 says:

I agree, he’s all in about OU. Just was asking for reference, since I seen that was just a little before the post

  • JJSoona says:

I need some sunshine today and came here. All good now:-)

  • Brien Brown says:

Been following for awhile now first time to post. By the way this site and the work you guys do is amazing! Thanks for all the great FREE information. Throw a few names in the hat that, I think it could be visiting just speculation for the fun of it. Daylon Mack, Josh Sweat, Iman Marshall, John Houston Jr., Soso Jambo, Malik Jefferson, Justin Hilliard, or Martez Ivey. All high recruits that we offered, that are highly ranked. May be a dream idea for us to have even one of these guys on campus. But, Mack, Marshall, Houston Jr., Jambo and Ivey are all uncommitted still at least that I know of. Would be nice to snag one of those guys. Especially Houston Jr, considering the LB numbers this year.

    • EasTex says:

Forget about Soso from the git go.
      BTW, welcome!

      • Brien Brown says:

Like I said purely speculation for the fun of it. I know little about Soso, compared to the rest of the guys. Thanks it’s been a good way of passing the long work days reading up on what everyone thinks!

        • EasTex says:

According to Super K, something “unfortunate” happened during his recruiting.
Not worried, though, we got Rodney Anderson, almost a clone of Reynaldo Works, only faster and more elusive.
          http://youtu.be/-zMnb4G_zi4

        • KJ1123 says:

I was looking at the NSD times today and it looks like only Houston and Wariboko have OU in consideration. Having said that, it would be nice to get a secret squirrel surprise flip on that day from someone who hasn’t listed OU.

          • Brien Brown says:

Well, it was listed as someone we offered early but, didn’t have a chance until now. I feel we have been in top 5 with Houston and Wariboko for a long time. So I mean it could be a guy that we need that we as fans had no idea we was in the mix for!

    • SamSooner says:

Welcome, Brien. I hope you have a solid marriage and that she’s forgiving. This site will make you cheat from all of the sneak-peeks.

    • BleedCrimson says:

      Welcome aboard Brien

    • Sooner Ray says:

      Come on in…the water’s fine. 🙂

    • hOUligan says:

The more the merrier!! It’s a great site to show your ‘Soonerness’. My first thought on the mystery guest was Wheeler since he was soooo close to being a Sooner. Next thought was KLS, as he was blown away by his visit, or maybe McKee…same same.

      • Brien Brown says:

Yea but, see we where a realistic chance for Wheeler and KLS. The post said “We haven’t, however, been given the green light to release the name of the other ‘secret’ visitor. But for those of you who pay attention to ratings and offers, he’s a highly rated recruit that OU offered last year but never really had much of a shot at…until now. We don’t know how it’s going to play out, but we’ll let you know more when we can” so I don’t expect one of them to be it though would be nice all the same!

        • hOUligan says:

True. Never thought OU had much of a shot for KLS. Don’t think OU takes another RB. Of your guys think Marshall, Mack and Ivey best fits for the parameters offered.

          • Brien Brown says:

Well at least we had KLS on campus already this year. Mean so he had to think of us enough to visit in season. Marshall too me would be a fantastic get hell so would Mack. But I think if it’s one of those 2 guys they probably start day one or at least help from Day 1. I think if it was KLS they would use him as a LB.

  • RBear says:

Posted this below in response to another post but I think it’s a valuable enough tool, for some, to post on its own. State-by-state listing of the top kids from each state (in case we’re wondering what kids are being visited).

    • Maverick says:

You could make an argument that Center has been our most consistent position in Stoops era. Also, Gabe is awesome.

      • Jordan Esco says:

Off the top of my head I’d probably say RB, but center has also been quite strong.

        • RBear says:

IDK, 2 Heisman winners at QB

        • Maverick says:

For sure RB has to be it, that’s cheating though. There’s only ever like 2 centers on the team at once.

        • Brien Brown says:

Consistent, has been RB by far but, O-Line as a whole has been pretty solid. Yes a few rough years but even then when had 1-2 kids that where studs. QB White, Bradford, and JH where only QB’s fully embraced by OU fans as a whole, half loved or hated Landry, Thompson was ok, Bomar, Knight was loved in the Sugar Bowl, Bell was off and on.

      • hOUligan says:

RB, center next and could make a good argument for LB until BV left. All Conf. LB every year 2000 until 2010. THAT is why this whole LB thing is so frustrating. Great LB tradition at Oklahoma has been decimated since Mike’s return.

  • Maverick says:

Jordan, If all commits stay committed as they currently are, who are some of OU’s biggest “near misses” this cycle? Wheeler? Murray?

  • Skip Sanders says:

Talked with ESPN 300 OT Pat Allen and confirmed OU still in his top 3.

  • wolfbuilder says:

At this point we need to save 2 ships for early entry’s for judo LB’s for next year IMO

  • Birddawg says:

Whatever happened to recruiting Soso Jamabo?
    Was he not interested?

    • Boomer15 says:

I believe its as simple as Rodney Anderson happened. Soso was taking his time and Rodney took the lone RB spot first.

    • Zack says:

He only qualifies for votech I assume. Since his top 2 are univ of Phoenix and itt

  • Maverick says:

Jordan, or anyone else who cares to chime in- have you heard of this kid? He has a huge offer list (which excludes us) and is not committed to or “high” on anyone. Looks like he has good size and skills at the WR position. Wouldn’t want to be calling play-by-play on him though, got a name.

    • Brien Brown says:

I agree where as I think Daniels was on our board, think maybe coaches where sure he would go elsewhere. So I think that you hit it with the probably being just as important or even more important people on campus this weekend!

Ray, I’ve been through Norman 1980’s. But help me here, is Stillwater a larger city than Norman? Are there more coeds at Ok St? Is he going to get playing time?

      • Daddy R says:

        liked the campus? hahaha

Edit: it has been 15 years since I have seen their campus.. have things changed besides stadium?

        • Easton says:

It has been about five for me. Hope to never return. I heard Gundy say that he thinks his success with recruits in Texas is that Stillwater is like west, east, Texas.

        • Sooner Ray says:

It’s been at least that long since I’ve been there but I hear there have been new projects all around the campus.

          • James D-Space says:

When my son was going through the recruiting process, we went to an invite day camp there in Stooly. I’m not going to lie, the locker rooms, facilities, all that stuff was very impressive. Old Boone didn’t just give them a hand out, he gave them a hand up. Still, the color Orange is disgusting!

    • RBear says:

      That’s the $23 question!

    • Maverick says:

Some people enjoy Tyler Perry movies. Can’t use reason and logic to judge other people’s decisions, lol.

because he didn’t have a spot at OU

Finally! wish it would have happened 4 years ago. I’m hoping, but not sure manny has enough left.

      • RBear says:

I think Manny will get it done- should be a hell of a fight. I’ve fallen for the hype before though, strange sport that way.

        • Daddy R says:

oh yes. when Oscar fought floyd. hype. hype. hype. Oscar too old to beat him, even though he gave him fits at times..

        • paganpink says:

Still, Pacquiao is the real deal in every way. His punching power and conditioning are astonishing. I watch very little boxing because it is so corrupt and the judges are so crooked as well, and I refuse to be cheated. But Manny and Golovkin are amazing athletes and Manny has been all over the weight classes kicking butt for years now. I love how MMA often does not even go to the judges and those two boxers almost always do the same thing.

    • Maverick says:

Might as well do it at halftime of the super bowl. Unless Katy Perry has her boobs all the way out, 5, 3 minute rounds of this would be much better.

      • Daddy R says:

This needs to be a thing. MMA match or boxing match at halftime of all sporting events. Would liven up things i think..

    • RBear says:

Looking forward to Diaz Silva next weekend as well… need to find a seat at a local Buffalo Wild Wings or something. On second thought, is that this weekend?

      • j l says:

        Its tomorrow night, so yes.

Good thing you asked. Wouldnt want to miss diaz get separated from his consciousness, now would we? =)

        • RBear says:

          I don’t know, they’re both bad-asses. I’d never count Diaz out.

          • j l says:

Gsp wouldn’t fight silva because of the size difference, and Gsp thoroughly outclassed diaz. Silva gonna wreck nick Unless he’s not mentally over that broken leg. Diaz is tough, no doubt, but silvas on another level.

Still happy to pay to watch it 🙂

    • JD says:

Im with ya…curious if we’d take him Green and Miller…he’s a LOS wr type where as Miller and Green are both down the field threats

      • Zack says:

I think we would absolutely take Hughes and it sounds like green may want to stay close to home. So I think miller would be out but only because he chose to go some where with less receivers, I think they are all takes though

    • Clint Lenard says:

I did. It makes the most sense.

          • EasTex says:

Absolutely the aerial poundings had an effect.
I know many Kurds, good folks and tough. Saddam used to soil his thong if someone said “Peshmerga.”

          • paganpink says:

It was looking pretty grim for them at first and someone, it might have been Fox news, started broadcasting live from just outside the city and talking about ISIS had been moving in armored equipment for weeks with no response from the US or any allies (we wish!) as Syrian tanks sat idly by. After a few days of that and pressure on the White House it suddenly stepped up a LOT. It’s ironic because the Kurds have supported us for decades and are not an imaginary counter force that “might” be ready next year, if we can even pick people that won’t shoot us in the back. They are ready now and just need some minimal help from us! It really was great news.

          • EasTex says:

The Kurds love the U.S. and are our most reliable ally in that area after Israel.
A gentleman I know that is Kurdish from Erbil, he had to flee as a teenager because he refused to join the Iraqi Army, which was mandatory. Made it to Germany, then the U.S. Started with nothing and built a nice business.
At the age of 50 he was surprised to find out he was selected to be an interpreter with the U.S. military before the invasion of 2003. He was ecstatic that he was going to be a part of Saddam’s defeat and served with a Spec-Ops unit in the North. Because he was an American citizen he was a trusted and valuable asset, as he could speak and understand Arabic (and it’s many dialects) as well as Farsi.
When he would go on the night raids to find the foreign Fedayeen fighters he could tell where they from after they spoke a few words. He would use his Baghdad accent to fool them. He said one jihadi tried to kiss his feet while begging for him to not let the infidels hurt him.
He said he pushed the guy away and told him he nearly kissed the foot of an American citizen and a Christian.
Wish he had taken a picture of the guys face when he did that.

          • paganpink says:

Hah! He IS an infidel. What a great story and a great guy. No Dhimmitude with him.

  • MrBigsby says:

So by “realistic” you meant no shot at all on DD?

    • Jordan Esco says:

What are you trying to accomplish here?

      • Sooner Ray says:

You’re gonna have to go back to your “Come at me bro” avatar. 🙂

      • MrBigsby says:

Just pointing out that the sunshine pumping is getting a bit high around here.

        • Jordan Esco says:

Not entirely sure you’re using the right term here, but what I’m assuming you meant was too much tooting of our own horn?

And while I wouldn’t necessarily disagree w/ you, it’s incredibly frustrating to work as hard as K, Alex & Brandon do to get everyone here news and then not get the credit for it they deserve.

If these people are truly the professionals they continually tell us they are (and we aren’t), then they’d do the professional thing and cite those who report the news first. That’s all we’re asking for. And if they won’t do it, we have to remind them they need to. Otherwise nothing is going to change.

          • MrBigsby says:

No, I used it right. I wasn’t talking about not getting credit when it’s due. I appreciate all the work you guys do and love reading this site. I just think lately, you (the site) have gotten a little too optimistic with OU’s chances on certain recruits. It shouldn’t all be sunshine and roses. You listed 7 names that OU had a “realistic” shot at getting. I just think by using the term “realistic” it insinuates that chances are good. Of the 5 remaining names on that list, I think OU’s chances are less than 50% on each which doesn’t make them realistic at all. Maybe there’s more to the “secret” flip, but i have a bad feeling about Wariboko and Green both.

          • Jordan Esco says:

Oh, okay. Well my bad then for assuming what you meant when you clearly knew already 🙂

fwiw, I think their is a pretty clear distinction btwn ‘realistic’ and ‘good’ when describing OU’s chances. It’s why someone like John Houston wasn’t listed.

          • MrBigsby says:

Glad I was wrong about Green. Now I hope I’m wrong about Wariboko too!

    • Zack says:

It was realistic 12+ hours ago when OU was in his top 4. But the good news is that Overton is now going to be a part of this class and hopefully he gets everything worked out and he makes it to campus.
Also its now important to flip lampkin imo. I don’t think we will stay in a 3-4 and therefore I like that he will be a better fit in a 4 man front

    • Clint Lenard says:

When you say DD, are you referring to boobs size?

  • Lane Gilstrap says:

So if Ohio state doesn’t have room for Will Sunderland then would they have room for Josh Wariboko?

  • Mizuno44 says:

Good points Gil & Big, there can be consequences for dancing around too long, we have guys in this weekend who could change the availability of their offers

  • Zack says:

I just think will is trying to have some fun. Dudes been committed for awhile and I don’t see him changing his mind now.

  • Tim A says:

I will be disappointed if Sunderland de-commits – I thought he was a true Sooner thru and thru. Actually disappointed already that he ever sent his tweet – whether having fun or not. Not a way to endear yourself to Sooner fans…although I guess that is not a concern of his.

  • Lane Gilstrap says:

It seems we live by faith the substance of thing’s hoped for, the evidence of thing’s not seen. It feels like the Phoenix Rising. Why? When I first joined The Brainiacs wrote an article on how when Bob first arrived people where not playing to their strength’s. It is assumed that Bob may have found a new driver for his offence, waiting for some very important hires. Some are showing their hire’s already. If your going to beat your competition you must have better coaches to achieve that standard. Briles said you will have to take it from us with a seething vengeance. Little brother has brought his a game twice now, there will not be a third. Wisdom shall now come forth. Thanks again BRANIACS for everything. Watching highlights of OU’s great games in Coach Stoops’ era. So frustrated about 2008 still. With all the great moves BS has done, the decisions to use DeMarco on kickoffs cost us perhaps two national titles. 07 dislocated knee on kickoff Tacotech…and 08 injury against Missouri returning a kick. Stop using Shepard on punt returns. Train Ross or Brooks or…Westbrook…PLEASE!

    • james babcock says:

Agree with you we would have beaten florida if we had murray.

not to mention..I wonder if using Shep for that return aggravated his injury

While I see your point, a lot of teams use star RB’s and WR’s to return kicks. Pretty sure Reggie Bush returned kicks. OSU used Hill in that role. And I’m sure the list goes on and on.

What’s everyone’s gut feeling on the 4 visitors we know about this weekend. I know wariboko is waiting until nsd to decide but unless the secret visitor is a OL kid then I think wariboko ends up at OU.
I’m going to take a chance and say miller and mcginnis decide by Sunday night. Which to me leaves dahu in a tough spot unless he decides before them.

    • James D-Space says:

Man good question. I’m going to have defer to others, as every time I feel good about a kid, he pulls the rug out from under me.

      • Zack says:

Well I think there were good reasons to feel good about jefferson and Neal. And funny how just a few days after Bloody Sunday, they were open to looking at other schools Neal with Michigan and I’m not sure what the rumor was for jefferson Florida maybe?

        • James D-Space says:

The Jefferson loss left a nice bump on my head and bummed me out.

Well I know they saw Samia last night, but not sure if he was the only one. And I’m assuming w/ the time difference it was too early for them to have seen anyone this morning.

I was kinda hoping they sent the big dog after John Houston

        • Lincoln Hawk says:

          • Zack says:

that’s probably true and I’m not sure but I think monty was the secondary recruiter for sumia, well actually for most everyone but I think the cal poly kids are monty’s area

          • Lincoln Hawk says:

I appreciate the info Zach, maybe you should apply for a spot on the site. Seems like you keep up with all this pretty well! I hear the pay and benefits are outstanding:)

Plus, we can rip you, Zack, whenever a 17 yr old chooses another school. That way, ripping you, it will deflect a little criticism of the OU coaches. • SoonerfanTU says:

Give me McGinnis, Green, Miller, McKinney Jr., and Wariboko or Adam, or at least 4 of those guys and I’ll be pretty happy, all things considered.

Would love one more big name surprise. A guy like Houston, or another big time LB, maybe Lampkin, but 4 or 5 from the list above will make this a top 10 class in terms of average ranking per player, and it restocks both our lines.

    • Sooner Ray says:

I think most everyone will be pleased with this class when it’s all done, even the people who have had their toes hanging over the edge of the cliff.

      • Shelby is a Patriot says:

It is a great class so far: Mbanasor, Gallimore, Anderson, Haughton, DeBerry, Campbell, etc.

        • Zack says:

Can’t forget about that OL. Samia underrated when we landed him, and people forget about hearne but I think he’s raw and could develop into several different positions just that the coaches have to figure out what he is best at. I think they checked every box except linebacker and if the land mcginnis then it’s hard to say this class was missing anything.

    • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

Kish has to get McGinnis. Kish’s time might be running out if he can’t make a positive turn. McGinnis is a good-looking LB.

  • blaster1371 says:

With this kid who knows what that means? Since he is at OU right now one would think it means OU but he may have gotten a call or text from Mora or Meyer and got all mushy.

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Kind of frustrating for me. Can we get just a three of these guys to commit this weekend? McGinnis and this kid, along with Green or? would make my weekend. Let’s go here. Do you think Texass has a better class than us at this point?

      • blaster1371 says:

Texass did very well, that is if the current list holds up. They have had more commits and de-commits these last several weeks than I remember in years past. I think we are seeing the results of recruits committing to hold a spot and then evaluating you is going where and either move to join them or move to get better chances of early playing time. Texass is certainly loading up the defense but I have yet to see the offensive side really surge forward.

Unlike some here, I would be really surprised if we hear of any commits this weekend. I think the coaches will know but they will give the kids their day of drama on NSD. I think the black out span of no contact begins Sunday.

        • EasTex says:

I would be surprised if any commit this weekend, too.
In fact I really don’t care, as long as they fax that LOI in on Tuesday.

        • boomersooner says:

yeah can’t quite call it crawfishing because there’s no “deal” in place but there is a ton of waffling going on it seems

    • Sooner Ray says:

He sure leaves things open for interpretation.

      • blaster1371 says:

He does. I can’t begrudge him for waffling if its sincere. I like those kids that commit before the coach has the chance to finish his pitch. Recent guys like Matt Dimon (underused, but been hurt), the OG from Cali (Samia?) come to mind. But thats how I am, I know what I want before I even start shopping.

  • Jdizzle says:

Either the OU visit reaffirmed he wants to go to OU, or it reaffirmed he wants to get out of state. Best of luck either way!

  • OUhomer4life says:

I long for the days, when OU had players lining up to play for them.

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Exactly. What happened? OU still is a nice campus and haven’t fallen that far off right?

      • blaster1371 says:

85 scholly limit is a big reason. Along with every game for every team is on TV, even the weak sisters in every conference are putting together respectable programs and the NFL has quit looking at just the elite programs and is beating the bushes to finding those guys few have heard of. I think that last aspect has sent the message that the college of choice is not a determining factor of next level success. It seems all of the recruits think they have NFL futures despot the mathematical odds not even remotely being in their favor. Being a life-long Sooner fan, more so than any of the recruits, I just can’t fathom not going to OU.

      • RBear says:

Parity: Television coverage, Facilities, Uni’s and in some cases, Dolla, Dolla Bill$

      • OUhomer4life says:

I think things started changing after losing to Florida in NCG! IMO the coaches need to instill a attitude of winning. I have said before that I didn’t play football, but the man that coached our HS team took our team to 3 state championship games and won 2 his father instilled in him the fire to win. I think if you follow HS football in Okla you will recognize his dad’s name Kenneth Roof RIP Coach!

        • Zack says:

I think the problems were before that game. Yeah we were still an elite program in 2008 but we were not an elite defense then and haven’t been since. We need guys on defense that just make plays. Hopefully they can get these kids on defense motivated to play some football because there is enough experience for them to make significant improvement

          • BigJoeBrown says:

I just think the one weakness on the defense was linebacker. Curtis Loften left for the pro’s his Junior year, in 08 and ‘had Austin Box a redshirt freshman starting. Where did UF hurt us, right across the middle. I still think if OU had Curtis Lofton, OU would have won the ship’.

          • Zack says:

Or if Reynolds was healthy. That’s also where Texas hurt us when Reynolds went down

          • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

It seems that the demolition at the hands of USC was part of the change.

      • Tulsa Terry says:

Black Texas players had parents telling them OU was cool by them.

    • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

      When were those days?

    • Bob Edwards says:

I don’t think those days ever existed they way most people seem to think they did. Today you just have a lot more exposure to the inner workings. If a coach talks to a kid, it ends up on a dozen websites and now we “lost” a kid who we had a ten minute conversation with in March and decided that we did not want him because his first question was “how much you guys offering?” In the past no one would have ever known we had talked to him. Today it is plastered all over the Internet for everyone to track.

  • blaster1371 says:

Crimson and Cream has some interesting tweets posted concerning Wariboko. Jefferson and Runnels urging him to OU.

  • Mark slavin says:

Not knocking Rodney Anderson because I think he’s going to be good but weren’t we leading for Soso at one time why back off just because Rodney committed if you have a chance at a talent like Soso take them both and let all the backs fight it out and see who else can dominate?

    • thebigdroot says:

Perhaps they feel they got the RB they wanted.

      • Mark slavin says:

I understand that but with a talent like Soso I think you would take both if you can get em is all I’m saying.

        • thebigdroot says:

Gundy has a very good track record of getting the right RB’s that fit the system. Maybe there is more baggage with Soso. For them to back off like they did, they must feel very good about what they got.

          • Mark slavin says:

I guess your right if Soso is lacking in hard work or any kind of lack of qualities I’m glad we didn’t pursue him.

          • boomersooner says:

i get your entire argument or side of the discussion, but if you were gonna take one and only one, i think anderson is that one. i think soso is good, but if you had to take even a slightly little bit less talent, which anderson is not, to get the character to go along with the talent then you do it. i love the fact that bob goes after recruits that fit the mold he wants and not just star power. yes, he does give 2nd chances to guys but, to me, for the most part he goes after the character as well as much talent as that character holds

    • Zack says:

It was more of we wanted soso but we wanted him to decide early. I don’t think we were going to take 2 this year.
Also I think some stuff has come out about soso and it kind of attacks his leadership qualities so I’m ok with having a guy that I know is flying under the radar and a guy who is going to work his ass off to play football. Sounds like a guy we watched this year

      • Mark slavin says:

Didn’t know the stuff about his leadership qualities I would rather have a talented hard worker over a very talented not hard worker.

        • Zack says:

It was some rumor that I read and I don’t remember the details but it was something like not really participating in some functions with his teammates and being a me first kind of guy

        • CcrBoomer says:

Isnt Josh Wariboko and SoSo cousins? Josh decommited and SoSo kind of stopped contact with the coaches, so the coaches looked else where

      • Brien Brown says:

Exactly my thoughts! Perine ring a bell, he was a big back but, no one was really talking about him as much as they were Mixon and low and behold Perine was the man. Different situations I am sure but, point is still the same, want kids that display the right attitude and play to your system. Not a knock on Soso, seen some film on him he looks great and I wish him the best for sure!

        • Zack says:

I think soso is the closest I’ve seen to demarco not as fast right now but similar style and he’s very good as a receiver

          • Brien Brown says:

Ok but, that’s all I heard about Mixon last year was how close he looked to being a Murray/Bush type player. Plus Ross and Ford can surely catch out of the back field hell Perine had almost as many catches as most of our WR’s did, SMH. That’s a different subject!

          • Zack says:

I think soso is a little more than explosive than mixon. But mixon has better vision and more make you miss imo

      • BoomerDave says:

I’m more than happy with Anderson. He was the best RB in Texas, IMO and in the opinion of many others.

    • Sooner Ray says:

Something happened during the recruiting process that made everyone pull back on Soso, not sure about the details.

    • TY says:

Watch one of his games. He gets up and acts hurt every game. He’s also got a bad attitude he plays basketball and got a tech for unsportsmanlike conduct after only 2 mins. Trust me we don’t want or need him

      • Rofosu says:

My brother inlaw is an offensive coordinator for a local HS and every year goes back to Texas (his home state) to watch some HS playoff games and he said the same thing. Said the kid is soft and he wouldnt even offer him a ship cuz he is the kind of back that just drives you nuts. He acts hurt when he gets a few yards and then when he breaks a long run nothing seems to be wrong with the kid. I haven’t seen him play but that’s just what he said.

        • TY says:

Yeah. I graduated from trinity and they played him. Anytime he had a bad play he’d get up hurt. Whenever he wasn’t getting the ball he’d just stand there. Has no effort unless it’s his play, not a good team player.

    • Guest says:

Don’t know much about Jamabo, but I know Rodney Anderson appears to be the real deal.

If you consider Joe Mixon a new RB recruit (since this season will be his 1st eligible year), him and Anderson are an incredible haul by Cale Gundy.

  • Tucker says:

Pryzbolo said there is gonna be a big announcement in an hour?

  • Brien Brown says:

Just a thought. I have seen post about OU falling off with recruits and so on and so forth. I don’t know in my life time other than the 80’s when I was a wee lil lad that OU kind of “had their pick” of recruits. Mean in my thoughts OU has always kind of had their kids and those kids may be some big targets, but, OU still had to fight up to signing day to get said kids. Mean, Gresham, McCoy, Broyles, Quick, and either Stills or Jefferson came down to the final days. Plus when OU can still sign a top 25 class year in and year out. they aren’t doing to overly bad. Problems to me has been D-Line and O-Line recruits IMO, although feel that has changed in the last 2 seasons. I have always felt you don’t recruit the Stars, recruit the players that fit your system. I don’t care if a kid is 2 stars if he can fit what your doing and buys in recruit that kid, rather have him than a 5 star that thinks he already knows it all. That’s the difference between Stoops and when Mack Brown was coaching. That’s how I would run my team, and feel this is how Stoops has done it his way. 1 national championship, I know we are spoiled and want more but, we have won all 4 BCS bowls and a title and what 9 Big 12 championships under Stoops, it’s not broke we are just greedy!

    • DCinAZ says:

I think we can recruit just fine. I think we’ve had an effort problem overall in the past. Bedenbaugh and Monty have clearly shown that to be the case.

      • blaster1371 says:

That’s a good point. It takes a high degree of patience and relentlessness to recruit. I can see how it could get old.

      • Bob Edwards says:

Shipp was out playing golf, Monty is talking to mama and convincing her that he’s gonna take care of her boy.

        • DCinAZ says:

Yep. And Kittle was a lifelong loser who Bob hired because he played at Iowa with him that has either left or been fired from every job he had that required him to work past 5. So we hired him as a recruiting director and them made him OL and TE coach so he could fail again and not close a single recruit for 2 years. Foolishness like that sets a program back years when all the fail dust settles.

    • blaster1371 says:

I’m not sure recruiting has every been easy for OU since the seventies. If you time the Switzer stories for being the truth he had to work his butt off to get the guys that became OU superstars. I Also think back then that there was a lot of money changing hands between boosters and HS school coaches to keep opposing college coaches away from particular recruits and so on. The recruiting process has amped up the last decade or so because of the big money involved; coaches feel the pressure to be successful now and that intensifies the process. Social media makes us more aware of who is being recruited and what they think than ever before so we have our hand on that pulse unlike before we heard about a few players but didn’t know ho was coming to OU until NSD.

  • OUhomer4life says:

Rainy day, no football, I think a trip to casino is in order later folks!

  • Guest says:

So apparently on USC’s Rivals board there’s some “insiders” saying there’s “rumors” of interest in Bedenbaugh.

Just thought I’d put it out there. Don’t shoot the messenger.

    • Jordan Esco says:

Like they’d want to hire him? Do they even have an OL opening?

      • Guest says:

Honestly not sure. I consider their OL development to be excellent, so if their current OL coach gets a promotion (NFL job), then they might look at Bedenbaugh as a replacement.

    • blaster1371 says:

He’s been in CA enough I’m sure they are aware of him. Can’t see him fitting in well with that crowd; the alum are very snobby and the SC fans who never darkened the door of a college are about as ghetto/ classless as one can get.

  • soonerthunder says:

just went to Rivals. Saw we were #6 when it came to average. That was ahead of UT, LSU, Penn St, Ohio State. That’s not too bad. Also, they looked pretty full and didn’t look like they could take many more, whereas OU looks had only 20 or so and could add another half dozen. I bet those OU fans on the way down from jumping off the cliff now wish they had a parachute. I’d still like OU to get Viney as a DB coach. I think he’d help us in recruiting big-time like Monty and Bedenbaugh. Let MS and BS and whoever else might be new next yr do most of the scheming; they have the experience there.

    • blaster1371 says:

An equal recruiter to,Viney should be an easy find. I’d prefer someone with more DB coaching experience at the D1 level.

  • curt gomer says:

So it looks like Sunderland 12 hrs removed from maybe flipping to Ohio st is back to doing his best Montgomery impression as a recruiter and trying to get D. Green to commit while on his visit.

    • Jordan Esco says:

He was never ‘maybe flipping’ to Ohio State. K addressed it above and I’d done so way earlier in the comments much farther down below. There was never anything to it, at all.

      • curt gomer says:

Any thought on why he put that out there? If you have said below i apologize i didn’t find it.

        • Jordan Esco says:

I think he was just messing around and for whatever reason didn’t really expect it to make the “waves” that it did (for some).

          • curt gomer says:

probably right, i was thrown for a loop reading it because he seemed to be the most “proud to be a sooner” recruit we have in this class.

          • Brien Brown says:

I felt he was having fun. It was reported that he was on campus again this weekend so why post something like that other than to troll, and he did a fine job at it. I feel though Sunderland committed later than most would have liked, I think he wanted to be a Sooner for sure. Though I feel the Bucks where for sure in the mix in a big way.

          • paganpink says:

Yeah, but those helmets with the little marijuana plants. Too much. Better to be a Sooner! Besides, Woody Hayes used to run out and attack people passing by on the field like a small dog does. What kind of legacy is that!?

He has been reading that page for years, and never created a profile!

I don’t know if he followed Jordan here, like a lot of us did, but if he didn’t, it’s probably because he doesn’t know about TFB! I’ll have to reach out to him and get him the info. • JD says:

Is it first come first serve for Green and Miller

    • Stephen says:

I think they would take both.

      • blaster1371 says:

yep. scholly count seems to allow for some wiggle room. I looked at the list of WRs on the roster and I don’t see how OU doesn’t take at least two and three if the third is a good one. I watched the first half of the ECu-Florida game and I think ECU ran out of 4 wr sets 90% of the time.

        • Brien Brown says:

If they get Green and Miller, that would give the 4 WR’s for this class, after signing 4 last year including Quick who was listed as a ATH, and Meier was a TE so I don’t count him in that count, and by my understanding Andrews is going to move to TE this year! According to sites Andrews was listed as a TE to begin with but, understand he was told he would play WR at OU. They do lose, Shepard, Neal, and Woods this year so, in all likely hood take what you can get this year and next as well.

  • Mizuno44 says:

Recruits, we’re ready to move inside the 2015 top ten recruiting class threshold, so….

  • James D-Space says:

While we wait. A little something to silence these crickets.

  • bmrsnr says:

Any chance coach B would leave for a place like USC? Some on their board think its possible. He doesn’t strike me as a California type of guy though.

  • Brien Brown says:

I know that Neal and Woods have been well underwhelming in their time at OU, but, is it possible under a new system with a wide open passing game they could thrive? Mean they played what one season under a legit QB and Neal and Woods hardly played with Landry and then 2 season with questionable QB play at best. Maybe they breakout this year I think I like their chances

  • Brien Brown says:

A side note Green is WSU’s biggest Offensive recruit as of right now, they have other guys ranked higher but all on the defensive side would be a huge blow to WSU!

  • EasTex says:

Too bad the weather we had Wednesday couldn’t stick around for the weekend.
Sure hope cold and rainy doesn’t effect the recruits decisions.
Is there at least a Sooner BB game tonight they can attend?

  • Stephen says:

It’s Saturday, I had some good drinks last night, we’re at 1200 comments without a Boom. How’re you guys?

  • JJSoona says:

OK I have a question here. Are we going to stay with the 3-4 or go back to a 4-3? I ask because we lost Phillips and not sure of our depth to run a 3-4.

  • eastoksooner says:

Any chance the “secret visitor” is Kyler Murray? Maybe keeping it on the down low since his tweet with the Texsa uni created such an uproar. Just hit me, what do ya’ll think?

  • Daddy R says:

  • James D-Space says:

    I just wanna say….

  • Boomer4life says:

I predict at least one of the visitors from this weekend commits this weekend or on NSD. Deano is 100% with me on this. You heard it here first folks!

  • Borba22 says:

Apparently there’s rumors out there that Van Jefferson will be, again, switching his commitment, this time to Michigan.

  • Billy says:

    Is it Thursday yet?

  • Brien Brown says:

I think again that the secret visitor is not someone we where in on already. Think Reid had been in contact and us in contact with him, mean even if it is him clearly you can’t have enough DB talent look at last year. So kids that are coming in this year and the ones on campus already need to know that all jobs are open and that anyone needs to be ready at any point to go!

  • Hotrod33 says:

I had a dream this morning that I saw Wariboko’s name on an OU jersey. Don’t know where it came from but I liked it until I woke up and it was a dream. Now we all wait til Wednesday.

  • OkieRandolph says:

Someone told me he wants to go to a school that will let him have his name on the front AND Back of his jersey.

    • JJSoona says:

Ummm nope. We don’t need that kind of person here. Move on, cause no one will do that.

      • OkieRandolph says:

It pains me to feel that way about a gifted and talented kid, an in-state kid AND a legacy kid. But, to me he has sent ALL the wrong signals ever since we started recruiting him. Maybe THE light has come on and he’ll be a firestorm SOONER, but he doesn’t send those vibes so far.

    • Guest says:

Sorry for the dumb question, But which recruit are you referring to? Wariboko?

      • Daddy R says:

        Dahu..

      • OkieRandolph says:

Yeah, several folks commented after I posted. I hope this kid commits and I hope he’s a great player. I shouldn’t be so hard on these guys. They’re just 18 yrs old, so I’ve got to remember how I was at that age. But that WAS a long time ago for me.

    • MoJoOkie says:

Someone? Was it anyone important or just someone with a fictitious name on the internet like yourself?

  • Stephen says:

So, is Dahu Green a Sooner, yet?

    • OkieRandolph says:

Losing a Tx High School QB to Fresno, and losing an Okla High School WR to Wash State would be an all time low for OU recruiting. Not sure this old man could take it.

    • James D-Space says:

Don’t ask me. The only thing I’ve heard is these damn crickets.

  • Mike Reed says:

I’m pulling this one out of my rear. The secret visitor, who will flip to us is Daylon Mack.

    • OkieRandolph says:

Well. . . . .I’ll send a buddy over to help you pull, but he’d be a DANDY flip.

    • James D-Space says:

Good player, I like your choice. But, I don’t think so.
      Probably Lampkin.

        • OkieRandolph says:

Catch me up Linc, who’s McKinney?

          • Lincoln Hawk says:

Prentice McKinney. Check out the Jan. 26th open post. To me it fits the description of secret visitor. Hope that helps!

          • OkieRandolph says:

Thanks bub, I’ll look back for it.

          • OkieRandolph says:

Just read his Bio. . . .this kid sounds a bit like Jefferson when it comes to recruiting. Doing more flipping than a carp on a beach. Look like Notre Dame still wants him and have sent out the big boys to try and take him back from N. Carolina.

          • Lincoln Hawk says:

Yeah, I think K said there may be a hold up on ND due to some sort of academic deal

          • OkieRandolph says:

Being the TYPICAL OU fan, of course I hate Notre Dame, but. . . .I hope they’re losing him because of higher entrance requirement than him just changing his mind. When kids have been committed 10 months and change at the last minute, it hurts a school really bad as now they don’t have time to recover to get a kid at that level this late. But then again. . . .it is ND, , , , , ha Funny side note, N. Carolina has always acted like they have such a fine academic standard then they have the “no attendance required” classes and now maybe can get a kid in school that ND maybe has to pass on. Never good to proclaim yourself high and mighty but in reality you’re just another turd in the sewage plant.

    • Caleb Miller says:

He isn’t currently committed anywhere though is he?

Leavitt was the ILB coach for the 49ers under Harbaugh…I understood that his name has been mentioned as a replacement for Kish.

        • MoJoOkie says:

I figured he would be replaced at Frisco with the Harbaugh change. I’ll try to share your enthusiasm. Wonder why Harbaugh didn’t take him to Michigan? Really just wondering, nothing more than that.

        • OkieRandolph says:

Leavitt’s bio is A1. We’d have a hard time finding a better replacement for “you know who” than Leavitt. He’d be a big help not only to Mike S. but Bob S. as his ability to run a program is pretty unique

          • paganpink says:

Not “you know who” but; “He who’s name shall not be spoken”

          • OkieRandolph says:

“YKW” is a lot shorter than “HWNSNBS” !! ha

          • paganpink says:

Doesn’t convey the right amount of menace to the teams recruiting chances though! heh

          • OkieRandolph says:

Yeah, you’re probably right, but since the damage has already been done/felt, I was just trying to turn the page and go on. Hopefully Bob S. will “turn the page” as well.

    • JD says:

I don’t think he would be a coach that had to wait until after signing day per contract…any hires we will have will most likely be college guys…and imo it will be a db and wr hire only…not sure Mike and Kish will be Kish’d this year

Anyone else like the looks of this?

C&C is reporting (or has taken a report) that Zack Sanchez is hosting a recruit that isn’t one of the guys named in the post.

    • D'Brickashaw Ferguson says:

      Iman Marshall.

    • AlvinMack55 says:

I wonder if Zack is hosting a “Secret Visitor”

    • Jordan Esco says:

It’s amateur hour over there, per usual. They’re also claiming Bedenbaugh had an in-home w/ Wariboko even though both are in Norman. So…..yeah.

Dude just takes stuff from the Scoop board then “reports” it over there.

      • Stephen says:

Well they say home is where the heart is…so isn’t every visit to Norman an in-home visit? (-:

      • BoomerDave says:

So….Jordan. who is Sanchez hosting then? He just tweeted out that he has a recruit out tonight. I doubt if it’s Green, Wariboko or Miller.

        • Stephen says:

You know he can’t answer that.

          • BoomerDave says:

No he can’t because he has basically said it’s not true considering the source.

          • Jordan Esco says:

Again, never said it wasn’t true. Just said that place gets all of their info from Twitter or the Scoop board. So at best it’s third-hand information. All I’m trying to say is know who you can rely on for accurate information. It’s not for me to say who that should be, that’s up to the individual to decide.

        • Jordan Esco says:

I would presume it’s the ‘secret’ visitor, but I don’t know that for a fact.

      • BoomerDave says:

Why the constant busting on the other sites, Jordan. Looks like they got this right, per Sanchez.

        • Jordan Esco says:

I never said they were wrong.

As to the “busting”, I just don’t like when people who don’t know what they’re talking about try and pass off otherwise and people who don’t know any better listen to them. It’s a personal issue, but I can try and work on keeping it to myself going forward.

          • Stephen says:

FWIW, I think you have the right to criticize others that work in your field.

          • Jordan Esco says:

Many don’t seem to agree. And on some level they’re right, I can definitely do a better job of keeping it to myself. If they want to believe these people, they certainly have that right.

          • JB says:

I prefer your honest opinion, Jordan. Don’t change or hold back. You weren’t being discourteous or unprofessional.

    • BoomerDave says:

Can’t be true! Jordan says its amateur hour over there!

    • blaster1371 says:

C and C still does some good write ups.

  • AlvinMack55 says:

Apparently Zack Sanchez is hosting a recruit tonight.

@DJ_DreSongz aightt , ima prolly come through wit my recruit— Zack Sanchez (@ZSanchez15)

    • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

That can’t hurt. Sanchez has charisma. Confidence. And dreadlocks.

    • hOUligan says:

Lends more credence to the secret recruit being a DB. McKinney sounds the moist reasonable.

    • Fear The Magic says:

Well anyway at least now we know its probably a DB……..narrowing it down.

      • Jordan Esco says:

I realize it makes the most sense and I can’t say it isn’t, but I wouldn’t just assume it’s a DB simply b/c Sanchez is hosting them. He is one of OU’s best recruiters, they don’t pair these guys strictly by position alone.

Again, I’m not saying it’s not a DB. Just saying there’s a chance it might not be.

    • blaster1371 says:

Is it safe to assume Sanchez isn’t an English major?

  • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

My refresh has lost its freshness.

  • oumike23 says:

Just saw John Humphrey tweet about @ KDs…must be the place to be tonight with all the recruits.

  • SoonerFan16 says:

Any possibility the younger Wariboko could be a visitor? Max & Josh usually go together and he is a recruit.

  • Jdizzle says:

Not asking for any names, but does anyone “in the know” know if the mystery recruit is someone who fills a position of need?

    • Stephen says:

So almost every position on defense other than the line? Yes.

      • Stephen says:

Let’s just say if this highly rated recruit who is commited elsewhere is taking a visit with about 4 days left in recruiting, he sees and probably has been told there is an opportunity to play immediately.

    • Brien Brown says:

I would say, whoever it is regardless of position fills a need. Especially if they say he was an early one that we thought we had no chance at!

  • Zack says:

Why doesn’t anyone here work at KDs? They take all the recruits there

  • Easton says:

    Bedlam in 10 minutes.

  • Boomer4life says:

Can I get a list of all the recruits that are at OU this weekend?

  • Lane Gilstrap says:

Who is Cael Staton DB from mustang?

  • Easton says:

    Ahem, ahem. Game time.

  • Lane Gilstrap says:

Whoever Cael Staton is, he’s with Zack Sanchez.

  • Zack says:

We’re going to need another weekend post if there is more news

  • blaster1371 says:

I know we all want a boom but dang if I wouldn’t be happy with just a pop.

  • blaster1371 says:

Here is another log onto the speculation fire: I was watching the replay of the OU-TT game and I thought I remembered the d-line coach was the brother of a recruit that OU was high on, even gave him an offer. Somoan or Hawaiian kid, DT. He is a TT commit….maybe him?

  • JD says:

    Damnnnnnnn…that’s an ugly blazer!!!

  • Lane Gilstrap says:

    Could it be amonte caban

  • EasTex says:

This game is about to peg my “sucks” meter.

    • JD says:

Don’t forget the Kansas game…we were down a lot and almost pulled the upset

      • EasTex says:

I understand that. Just the way it feels and looks. Slipping down, missed shots, weird calls/non-calls…etc…etc…

        • Easton says:

Cousins came into the game as if he had the flu. D. Walker still needs time. Their play has hurt bad.

          • Hotrod33 says:

I was pissed with Cousins when he didn’t hustle for the ball. With games like this you have to go all out and be the best team. They are going through the motions at times I believe.

          • Easton says:

            Yup.

          • EasTex says:

That is part of the suckage I’m seeing.

          • Hotrod33 says:

Yep, yep. If they would just be a little more patient, the cowgirls will implode themselves and we will cruise also. When shorty forty rushed that 3, they had no one underneath to get the rebound. It looks like OU is starting to warm up now. I hope it continues.

    • RBear says:

      We’ll come back.

  • Easton says:

We are still in it. But points aren’t coming from Buddy. Feed Spangler and Thomas in the second half, I hope.

    • Hotrod33 says:

I agree. We need to get the ball into them. They are doing alright when they get time. Their bigs are horrible and don’t play worth a f***. The only reason they are leading is because we are shooting very poorly. If we can get hot in the second half, I believe it would be lights out for them. Then they can go back to trick and treating at Booger’s house.

      • Easton says:

Their success is random, like a cold hard cookie in a trick or treat bag. We win if we don’t turn it over, and make shots.

        • Hotrod33 says:

The problem I have with this team is that they go on long stretches of not scoring. They did that last year and for the most part they weren’t doing that a whole lot this year. I like what Lon is doing, but we are missing a couple of players of being really good. I think with the kids coming in next year, we should have a really good team.

          • Easton says:

Thats right, I think we are missing two players who can score, and move the ball. Two good players off the bench away from being a contender.

  • SeaSooner says:

So, anyone figure out who the secret visitor is?

  • KatyOUdad says:

Congratulations to Demarco Murray as NFL Offensive Player of the Year.

  • Justin Pence says:

    Dunning……

  • Zack says:

I don’t get too caught up in basketball for OU and it’s not because of OU it’s because of college basketball in general. Until they drop the shot clock to at least 30 seconds I won’t be interested.

    • Hotrod33 says:

I’m surprised they haven’t yet. I don’t know why either.

      • Zack says:

It should be less than that really. If it was a 24 second like the nba it would be well worth watching

        • OkieRandolph says:

You’re really missing a good chance to see a great player in Buddy Hield. He’s terrific.

          • Zack says:

I like the team and I like most of the players and Kruger is great but it’s hard to watch college when they are allowed to hold the ball for 25 seconds then run a play.

  • JrsySooner says:

  • JrsySooner says:

I am predicting and OU super commit weekend, If not I wont come back until Sunday, wait it is Sunday, In Turkey!

  • OkieRandolph says:

Put Cousins BACK on the bench.

  • Hotrod33 says:

Lon needs to tell his guys that Nash has 3 fouls and get him in foul trouble along with Cobbins.

  • Hotrod33 says:

In that drought again. Give it to Buddy.

  • OkieRandolph says:

    Terrible call…….but I like it !!!

  • Hotrod33 says:

Give them time and they will implode. LOL!!!!

  • Shawn Cummings says:

There is nothing that sounds dumber than hearing “ORANGE” “POWER”

    • SeaSooner says:

Except maybe that ugly, loud jacket Ford was wearing…it was so ugly it hurt my ears as well as my eyes.

      • Easton says:

The Stillwater scene-vibe-style really gets under my skin.

      • Martin says:

I thought it was just me. Do you get a free one with your cheese fries order at Eskimo Joes?

        • JB says:

I think it was one of the rejects from Ricky Fowler’s hideous wardrobe, Eskimo Joe’s tried giving it away with the cheese fries but still no takers…but Travis Ford probably said, “Heck yeah, that’s my style!’

I hope Bob had all the recruits at his house watching that game. Great win in Stillwater! We love our sports here in Sooner land. BOOMER SOONER

  • RocketCitySooner says:

A couple more knob creeks and I’ll feel really good.

  • Tom Turman says:

There’s supposedly some big happenings over at Soonerscoop, in case anyone is a subscriber. I’m not, so I don’t know what’s supposedly happened.

    • SoonerRich8 says:

      Named the secret visitor

      • Dlee914 says:

        Who did they name?

        • Zack says:

I guess they decided to throw a bone to their subscribers but the kid still didn’t want his name out there. I just think they want to say they had it first when I comes out over night and tomorrow. Even though we know who had the name all along.
Nothing against the pay site guys because I think they have a lot good info but they have been getting beat to stories and recruitng news over the past year+

        • SoonerRich8 says:

I’ll let TFB decide if it needs released here. I know they have been trying to protect the kid

          • Zack says:

I don’t think it should be released to the sites that anyone has access since the kid wanted his name to remain quiet.
His name is out there if you look hard enough

          • Super K says:

Thanks. Yeah let’s keep the name off here please. Thanks for the assist!

          • Tom Turman says:

I didn’t mean to start a discussion about the mystery recruit. I just saw the tweet about some sort of news and I was hoping a Boom was about to happen…

          • paganpink says:

Dang right. At least someone respects his wishes. What a crappy way to treat a recruit. Pisses me off.

    • Patvan says:

There running a sale on there sight, but imo it’s not with it

    • ccmosaic says:

I don’t see anything over there.

  • James D-Space says:

I’ve been drinking for a couple of hours, but two things remain true. I love the SOONERS and the color orange sux!

  • Jonesy says:

To me it sounds like soonerscoop needs to have the sooner off the front of their name taken away. First a week before NSD they try and say the stadium upgrades have been put on hold. Now they release a kids name that asked not to be mentioned when other people could respect his wishes.

  • Austin says:

Looks like someone at soonerscoop has uncovered the “mystery recruit” and released his name. I’m
not a member so idk who it is. As much as I want to know I was willing to wait until this visit was over and NSD was complete or either he flipped to ou. Kind of doing the kid wrong if you ask me. Just let him enjoy his visit and focus on this important decision.

    • ccmosaic says:

Kind of crappy how they did it. Give the name and then tell people not to let it get past their board until they have talked to the kid. Crappy.

      • OkieRandolph says:

Just so they can say, “WELL, YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST”. Yep, never ever let the right thing to do get in the way of being first to ruin something. Reminds me of Dean “THE PERCENTAGE MAN” Blevins, and BBJ. They both have bad shoulders from patting themselves on the back.

        • ccmosaic says:

The thing is why does it matter who broke it first in this day and age of social media. If it comes out on one site it will be out in the next second on Twitter. It is not like it means anything.

          • OkieRandolph says:

You know what? I don’t get it either. I guess they do it so they can use it on promo’s saying how their station is better, yada, yada, yada.

What are you trying to post, the embed code or the link location?

Congrats to Murray for OPOY and to Cale for being the only coach to have two of em…#AD & #Murray

Just to be up to speed here, we’re keeping the kids name off the site, correct?

  • SoonerFan16 says:

Am I the only one who still doesn’t know who the visitor is….

  • soonerbear52 says:

Considering OU’s AD dept has as many holes as the secondary, I’m not sure how long anyone can keep the secret visitor a secret. We are still upgrading the stadium this decade, right?

  • Stephen says:

Can we agree as a community to not post the name of the ‘secret recruit’ on here until TFB decides to update the post or create a post for him (if they eventually choose to).

    • Clint Lenard says:

I can agree once I know the recruit’s name…just in case I accidentally mention him. Let me know the name so I don’t do that by accident.

    • OkieRandolph says:

So, how will we know what the TFB’s consider a mystery visitor is the same guy that Soonerpoop is calling a mystery visitor?

    • EasTex says:

      No problem for me.
      If TFB ain’t telling, I ain’t listening.

    • Lane Gilstrap says:

anybody want to answer the question on Sooner Faithful on FB?

    • Jordan Esco says:

Pretty damn cool of you to even suggest, and equally as so for the rest of you to agree to.

You all never cease to amaze. Incredibly fortunate to be a part of this TFB community.

      • JD says:

What’s the word man…can we spill it

      • Hotrod33 says:

        Jordan,
You have gained my trust and respect as well as some others on here that will do anything to keep this site the best. Whenever the time is right I know you guys will put it out there for all of us to see. Thanks for all the info

        • Jordan Esco says:

Appreciate the kind words. Although I don’t know that I’ve done anything to earn anyone’s respect, especially considering some of the things being said about me elsewhere 😉

          • Hotrod33 says:

Who cares what those other sites want to say about you. You have done an outstanding job of feeding us info on recruiting and making sure you have the go ahead and give us that news. Screw the rest of the sties and keep feeding the monsters on here with what we want, names, names and names. LOL!!!! Just kidding.

          • Lincoln Hawk says:

I would be willing to bet that this secret visitor would be willing to talk more to you guys than to them at this point, as well as any other recruits that know the situation

          • SoonerGoneEast says:

If you are willing to exchange your principles for expedience, then the principles you claimed to possess, indeed never existed.

As is evidenced by the 1700+ comments and counting on this thread, the collective ethics of the TFB contributors have served this site quite well. Continue on, my friend.

    • Brien Brown says:

I’m totally down with that shitty of whoever let it out. Love this site so glad to be a part of it. Bring on the filthy Jordan and keep doing the good work.

    • boomersooner says:

well let me just ask. what did i miss? i don’t care who it is until the due time, but wha hapeen?

      • Stephen says:

The ‘secret visitor’ who didn’t want his name being passed around that he was on a visit this weekend had his name published on a pay site this evening, which goes against the recruits wishes. The pay site got their info from someone on twitter, IMO.

        • boomersooner says:

thank you sir. so some colostomy bag wanted to be “first”? and should lose some teeth if that were the penalty for such an offense?

          • Stephen says:

You nailed it. However, boomersooner, should you send $12.99 my way I’ll tell you the name with 65% certainty, because I enjoy and appreciate your humor.

          • boomersooner says:

well my princely friend from nigeria, i am between funds right now and will get back with thee shortly

          • Stephen says:

Well I promise to repay you ten-fold once I reach the Americas, should that change your mind.

          • boomersooner says:

hmmm. whence shalt thou be in this land called the americas? shalt thou be a fortnight?

ps i have no idea what that says. i just know wankahs speak like this

          • Stephen says:

Umm, that additional information is for ultra premium member which you can become one for $18.99 a day.

          • boomersooner says:

wow! its been 20 minutes and you raised prices 6 bucks already?

          • Stephen says:

I’m just a small business owner trying to make money so I can blow it at the bar.

  • blaster1371 says:

I say keep the name they are saying off here until he gives the green light. I wouldn’t put it above them over there to pull some name out their butt and blast it out there. They’ve been trolling here and see we are all foaming at the mouth for news and they think they can get our $$$ by waiving that nugget outs there.

  • SoonerFan16 says:

So I’m assuming the secret possible flip that isn’t visiting this weekend already took his official?

  • boomersooner says:

so if you were a visitor and were visiting and while on said visit you were to be noticed on the visit would you make a sound?

  • RBear says:

    Silva wins, boring fight.

    • Shelby is a Patriot says:

Both main fights were pretty disappointing. The other fights were good, though. Diaz wasted his time taunting, not that that’s surprising.

      • RBear says:

yeah, he wanted to bait Silva into coming in so that he could counter, didn’t work.

        • Shelby is a Patriot says:

Silva’s done plenty of his own taunting in the past, he knows what’s up. Poor strategy by Diaz for thinking that would work.

          • RBear says:

I think he was planning on using the 5th round to do his work- still didn’t work I do want to see someone take Silva out though.

          • Shelby is a Patriot says:

Maybe he’ll work his way back up to Weidman again. People don’t give Weidman much credit for the first fight against Silva, but he was winning their second fight before Silva broke his leg (even if it was only a couple of rounds). I’m not the biggest Weidman fan because his style of fighting isn’t my favorite, but he’s American so I cheered for him in both fights and would likely do so again. So I’d second you on seeing someone take Silva out, particularly a likable American unlike Diaz.

          • Borba22 says:

I feel like I’m the only person who actually likes Silva lol. Been my favorite fighter since I started watching UFC (back before he was the middleweight champion)

          • Shelby is a Patriot says:

I like Silva; a lot of people do. I just like America more. So, unless I dislike the American or opponent he’s fighting- which happens plenty of times- I’ll root against him. That goes for most fighters. He’s undeniably the best, though.

          • paganpink says:

And his leg break was a LEG BREAK. It’s right up there with one of the grossest breaks you’ll see. I am surprised he came back from it!

          • Shelby is a Patriot says:

Yup. He was pretty emotional after his win, and understandably so. I bet his leg is stronger than ever now.

  • Lane Gilstrap says:

I wish that this secret visitor hadn’t been revealed because now some know who it is, and some don’t. That’s a little frustrating but whatever I understand the respect some are showing the recruit. It just kindof sucks being in the dark. I’m sure it will come out more in the next few days.

  • EasTex says:

    Good night and Sweet Dreams.

    • paganpink says:

It’s been removed but I saw that it was Roy Buchanen! Awesome. I was actually thinking of that exact clip when you posted the SRV song the other day! Amazing guitarist with a completely unique style. And faster then anyone else when he felt like it as well. Have you ever seen the pictures of his fingers tied into little knots? It’s sort of bizarre, Roy claimed it loosened them up. He was dexterous in every sense of the word. Better then those Austin folks deserved.

      • EasTex says:

It hasn’t been removed, you have to click on the “youtube” icon at the bottom and see it there.
Having seen some of the greats live like Hendrix, SRV, Clapton, I still believe Roy was the best overall. He could coax sounds out of a guitar that I have never seen matched. He also had fun and a sense of humor about himself. He would be playing a song then with one hand would continue to play while smoking a cigarette and drinking beer with the other and the song never changed.
As MoJo said, he died far too early and tragically.

    • MoJoOkie says:

Funny thing. I almost asked you one day last week if you were familiar with Roy, but didn’t. Hell of a player; died too soon. I’ve got his boxed set, and all of his instrumentals are phenomenal.

      • EasTex says:

Saw him live many times and was mesmerized by his talent.
He didn’t use any pedals or reverbs, made those sounds the old school way.

        • MoJoOkie says:

Never saw him live, but would have liked to. Saw the Allman Brothers, but after Duane died. My timing is off a bit.

        • paganpink says:

From what I gather he pretty much invented the old school way, right? He was twirling the tone and volume buttons with his fingers while playing the guitar as well as anyone NOT doing that! It was like a Waah Waah pedal without the pedal, and he could make slide steel sounds by moving the controls without using anything but his hands. Pretty amazing and I would have loved to see him “live.” He drank too much at the end, unfortunately. He lived on his own from the age of 14 which affected him for life, but no one was perhaps ever more completely dedicated to the guitar then he was.

          • paganpink says:

Oh, and his version of “Hey Joe” is my favorite of anyone’s. He makes the guitar cry and it doesn’t seem like a trick or a distraction. Amazing.

          • EasTex says:

            He was amazing.
What’s funny about his playing HEY JOE is he thought Hendrix was a “phony” for using so many gadgets to create his sound. LOL!

          • EasTex says:

He created his sounds from learning from people he worked with and those he studied. Les Paul being one of those he studied and copied most.

    • Boom says:

Looks like meathead from Archie Bunker but his music is great.

  • Stephen says:

Usually I enjoy reading through LT threads and seeing what the posters have to say, but recently it’s just been bashing TFB and the comments section. Apparently, we’re all Jordan’s sheep.

  • Jeremy Phillips says:

Jordan & everyone else that contributes to this site on the regular.. Plus all of the readers & posters.. This incident highlights the major difference between a “pay” site & a fan site.. You guys all do what you’re doing for the love & fandom of the OU program.. So if a kid wants to be inconspicuous over the weekend & we have a chance to get him, you guys will honor what’s best for the kid & the program.. The “pay” sites don’t really give 2 shits about the program.. They’re about the clicks & the scripts.. I say this as a previous subscriber & one that didn’t care for this site in particular because i just didn’t see a fan site getting the info a reputable pay site could get.. & I’ve been converted by not only the information you provide but the manner in which you provide it.. You want the program to succeed as much as I do & if that means keeping a recruit or coaches name off the board for a period of time then fine.. I say that to say this, I appreciate what you guys do & how you do it.. Keep fighting the good fight.. & Boomer Sooner!!!

  • Steve Cooke says:

    This is the secret recruit!

  • Steve Cooke says:

247’s Ryan Bartow is reporting Kerry Cooks ND DB coach is in the running for a staff position.

    • Jeremy Phillips says:

From Texas, played at Iowa & the NFL, GA’d at KState… He checks all the boxes of a Bob Stoops hire.. Except he is listed as a co-dc at Notre Dame presently.. so, he wouldn’t have to necessarily, but he would likely need a similar title to come here..

    • oumike23 says:

2012-13 he was co-DC/db’s…2014 was just DB’s. Why was he demoted? Maybe that is why he would want to go to another school.

      • Jeremy Phillips says:

The other co-dc left for an HC job at Uconn that year.. Did they bring in someone from the outside for the DC job..? Could be why he got the “co” stripped…?

        • oumike23 says:

So he was the co-DC on nc team and when the other co-DC left, he got a demotion instead of a bump up. I would prob be upset, too.

    • HanzBrix says:

      link?

  • madbrad says:

    Jordan,

I’m sick of reading nothing but nice comments about you so I’m switching it up. I hope your super bowl food gives you a case of mud butt.

  • Perry Dickey says:

Prior to TFB I’ve never seen recruiting this closely. My question is, is the ‘secret recruit’ a common occurrence?

    • ToatsMcGoats says:

I’m not a contributor…just a fan, but I have seen them mention it on here several times, so I would assume this is a regular thing. Especially this late in the recruiting game.

      • Perry Dickey says:

I guess my question would be more along the lines of was/is it common from years past?

        • Jeremy Phillips says:

Yes it is.. Committed kids sometimes want one last peak without upsetting somebody they are currently committed to..

          • Perry Dickey says:

Ok, thanks. There are even more aspects of recruiting learned here I’d never known. For one big one, I never knew someone other than a coach ever spoke with a recruit. Like the conversations the Brainiacs have with them. I guess if I knew one personally I would have encouraged them to go to OU but not to seek one out. Has there ever been a notable time where an outsider caused a big blowup of a big recruit?

    • Jordan Esco says:

Somewhat. There will always be kids who visit that don’t, for whatever reasons, want it to get out. Sometimes we (and by ‘we’ I mean recruiting services in general) know about it, sometimes you only find out afterwards, and of course sometimes nobody ever knows at all.

      • Perry Dickey says:

Thanks, I guess even though I always considered myself a fan, the fact there were ‘recruiting services’ out had escaped me. It has been the most fun I’ve had watching to ‘goings on’ here as a fan.

        • Jordan Esco says:

          we appreciate you reading!

        • James D-Space says:

I know what you mean. About four years ago, when my son was getting looks in his Jr. year in HS, I really started following recruiting.
Not so much the kids nationally, but within Oklahoma HS sports. I wanted and needed to learn if or how I could “champion” his recruitment. Get his name out there to the in state schools, as well as, nationally. Then at what level (e.g. D1 or D2, etc.). I didn’t want to just rely on his Coaches to get him recruited. It was interesting and the best 2 years of my life.
I’m certainly not an expert or follow it like most posters here do, but I have an appreciation for recruiting process, the kids and the parents.

  • Zack says:

    No news is…

  • Jordan Esco says:

I’ve lost track of how many times this would make for a decommitment from Jamile Johnson (who, as many of you probably remember was an OU commit at one point)

    https://twitter.com/MilJohnson/status/561894918407208962

  • eastoksooner says:

    Man…we need a BOOM!

  • Rich says:

So we haven’t heard anything new. Did the secret visitor show up? Any word on who it is and how the other visits went?

  • curt gomer says:

    yes everyone is there.

  • soonerinks says:

Congrats to the Sooner basketball team on sweeping the cowboys! Absolutely love watching Spangler play.

  • curt gomer says:

Anyone have any info on how good of a recruiter Kerry Cooks @ ND is?

    • Jeremy Phillips says:

He recruited Texas for them.. That’s all i know… You can check the 247 site & search under his name to see what guys he’s recruited.

      • curt gomer says:

Cool, didn’t know they had that on the site. Says hes is ranked as the 20th best recruiter nationally. Also says he is co/dc at ND. Think it was mentioned below that isn’t it highly unlikely he would leave a co/dc job to be a db coach?

  • OUhomer4life says:

Yesterday I made a statement about recruiting that I need to change, I realize now even Barry had trouble with recruits. I didn’t realize he had to hide Billy Sims until he could get the papers signed

  • rphokc says:

……this is amusing…….pushing 2k posts of speculation and filler……..this probably exceeds actual game griping

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

At least there hasn’t been any bad news.

      • Stephen says:

        I’m out of toilet paper…

        • rphokc says:

……..might want to stock up for nsd, staff changes……just in case

          • Stephen says:

I have all morning classes on NSD. I’m probably going to miss the exciting parts.

          • Zack says:

I think there will be plenty of excitement after noon. We didn’t find out about brown last year until later I think

          • EasTex says:

            That sucks!
I’ll be working and will have to rely on my smart-aleck phone, which I hate to do. Like the speed and lack of clunkiness of the PC.

          • Doobie74OU says:

I will be working as well but got a 1/2 gal of Forty Creek, a 12 pack of Coke, chips, and Mointian Trail Mix all set up at my desk. I will be ready for the festivities to begin early and the celebration will begin at Noon and last throughout the afternoon!

          • EasTex says:

            I’ll be out and about.
People will wonder about my mental state at traffic lights when I see a BOOM.

          • Stephen says:

Good thing I have a laptop I can bring to class. 🙂

    • soonerinks says:

Hey, if it’s something about the Sooners I am good to go!

  • james babcock says:

Can someone please create a new post this is getting to be out of control with 2000 come on let’s get serious there’s no news.

    • BoomerDave says:

Only about 100 or so football related posts. Mostly just crap you have to wade through to get to the supposed purpose of this site….Sooner Football. Seroiusly, we need a social site for those of you that want to fill up this post with talk of guns, movies, UFC and church this morning.

      • james babcock says:

I don’t have a problem talking about God and guns and the the Sooners but all the other riff raff I agree with you 100 percent

        • Daddy R says:

Hey, beggars cant be choosy! lol This site’s free!

          • james babcock says:

Okay but when we talk about God and guns in the sooners I don’t want to hear people like you bitching.

          • Daddy R says:

People talk about it already! lol. I find it easier to move past things that dont interest me or if what I would say wouldn’t add to others’ conversations..

      • Daddy R says:

Maybe we could split into two open post threads: Open Post A. (recruiting info and Football talk only) and Open Post B. (fluff!) lol

    • Daddy R says:

Two words might apply here: “Open Post”

      • james babcock says:

Yeah but the problem is there’s no news.

        • Daddy R says:

It seems as though the “open posts” gravitate back and forth between news and fluff. When there is an update added, and there is news, that’s all almost anyone comments about (for a few minutes anyway..) And then when it goes for some time without updates, it just turns to all fluff to keep people interested until there is news again. Open Posts really have become more of a social EVENT I think. But your point does make sense. Maybe only scroll down to read when an update is added?

        • Jeremy Phillips says:

If you’re worried about news.. Just don’t open it until an update has been added..

  • curt gomer says:

DeVonte’ Fields is going to Louisville

  • Jeremy Phillips says:

& now 247 has a free story on this weekends surprise visitor..

  • Daddy R says:

With all this talk about fluff!

  • EasTex says:

    WHOO-HOO!
Kitten bowl is on Hallmark channel.

  • Mizuno44 says:

Some habits never go out of style..especially when NSD is still a few days away

  • Sooner Ray says:

I’ve got nothing new to add so I’ll just leave that here. 🙂

  • SamSooner says:

Just finished snow blowing and shoveling snow. I did not hear or feel the quake of a BOOM! so I’m guessing nothing has happened yet. However, did I miss anything?

    • Daddy R says:

Where you at Sam? We got 7-8 inches overnight here in Denver..

      • Easton says:

Wow man. That is a lot.

      • curt gomer says:

IM in Ricky DeBerry country and have 8-9 inches on the ground and more coming today

        • Easton says:

          Whoa dude!

        • Shelby is a Patriot says:

Everybody is getting snow and it’s only 71 degrees where I live. I miss living somewhere that got snow! Even if it’s a pain a lot of the time.

          • SamSooner says:

I do enjoy it. Makes you feel alive.

          • EasTex says:

            LOL.
            Different strokes for different folks.
I hate snow…hate it. Just seeing it on the TV makes me want to go to a biker bar and start a fight.

          • soonerinks says:

Easy Tex, I had a friend that was in a bar in Topeka and a bunch of biker guys mouthing off at him. When he left the bar, he got in his 4 wheel drive farm truck and drove right over most of the bikes parked in a convenient line. Key word here is “most”. Got hung up on some of the bikes and was high centered. Needless to say, they came swarming out of the bar after hearing the noise and things were not pretty after that. When I saw him a couple of days later he looked like (as the song goes) a jigsaw puzzle with a couple of pieces gone. He ate a lot of soft food for a while.

          • EasTex says:

And if I see snow that could be me, too. LOL.

          • Daddy R says:

me too! Especially after being a lifelong Okie for 31 years

          • james babcock says:

Yeah don’t give me that fake I love the snow attitude everybody wishes they lived in the Sun in 80 degree temperatures like we do here in Miami in the winter.

      • SamSooner says:

Ohio. We are expecting 18″ by tomorrow morning.

  • Mustvid says:

I wonder if Prentice McKinney is the secret visitor?

  • Soonerboyz says:

Anyone hearing any DB/LB coach rumblings?

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Any updates on visits? Are the recruits staying for a Super bowl party? For 24 hours nothing but crickets.

    • Zack says:

To be fair no one else (pay sites) have any info either. The only thing SS did was release the name tfb already had

      • D Hunter Sanchez says:

I wan’t talking down TFB. Just throwing out a general question. No one is more up to date and ahead of the game than TFB. Sorry, if I didn’t clarify. Just want a boom at some point before Wed…

        • Zack says:

Ah gotcha I agree. I’m thinking at least one tonight

        • Jordan Esco says:

We want news just as much as you all do. But, sadly, we can’t make it happen. And we’re not going to bother kids while they’re on a visit just to try and get stuff up.

We’re hoping to have something new up here in a little bit, and of course with kids getting ready to head home as soon as we hear back on how things went we’ll get that up as well.

I guess we’ve kind of created a monster here and it’s demanding to be fed. Which is a good problem to have in a way, but at the same time I think we all need to manage our expectations just a little bit (but in a good way).

          • Easton says:

Yes. The good news has created this monstrous expectation, bordering on an obsession/addiction. I admit for myself as well. I’ll deal with my side of the street, you guys should do everything in your power to not feel that pressure from our (the readers) side. Thank you for doing the work. It must be heavy.

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Appreciate the integrity about reporting news, rather than inventing it. Love TFB. I suppose my reaction is out of frustration with other CFB sites like ESPN that headlines everything Texas, Baylor, TCU does in recruiting, and seemingly only highlights OU’s recruiting losses.

          • Easton says:

The ESPN dis-integrity does, really does, get me fired angry. I agree.

          • curt gomer says:

We might as well enjoy the process because after NSD its gonna be real quiet till spring.

          • SamSooner says:

Sure it will. We said that about the off-season and WHAM! LOL!

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Possibly. But the Spring off and def questions and competition will make up for it!

          • Katyboomer says:

I hope TFB do something like a in-depth story on each new player. Something like one player a day. Ask them about the process they went though, why they picked OU, were there any funny stories durning the process either with our coaches or others. When does TFB see them seeing the field. Who the players HS coaches and player parents liked and didn’t like. That would give us 25 days of stuff . Then maybe mix in some of the players that didn’t come to ou and why they didn’t come. Just a few few things I would like to see before we move onto 2016

          • EasTex says:

I’m with you on everything but what those who didn’t choose OU. Clearly their judgment is impaired. 🙂

          • Katyboomer says:

            Lol

          • SamSooner says:

We know you all are working hard. We know you’ll post as soon as you hear “confirmed” information. I’ve got a fire going here. I will spend the next two hours writing and checking in.

            Thanks for all you do!

          • OUn8v says:

We’ll all be fine. After about 60 years of being a Sooner fan, this is my first time that I have paid somewhat close attention to recruiting. It’s been interesting, fun, and a better way to get through the off season.
TFB has provided so much info to us. We should be grateful. And I like the way that you guys don’t interfere in these young men’s lives, unless they’re willing to disclose info to you. Thanks again.

          • Daddy R says:

Oh I know, just a few years ago I had to listen to Murdock updates on the morning animal for my recruiting info! SO glad those days are over!

          • Defend Colfax says:

I guess we’ve kind of created a monster here and it’s demanding to be fed. Which is a good problem to have in a way, but at the same time I think we all need to manage our expectations just a little bit (but in a good way).

            – Bob Stoops

          • John Garner says:

You have created a monster. A good monster. The paysites with their Crystal Balls, and VIP reports, and Scoops truly suck. JMHO. Keep up the good work.

    • BoomerDave says:

Usually, they are starting to head home by now, depending on flight schedules and such. Bob has probably met with all of them by now. Word of any commitments, if any, should be leaking out soon I would suspect. Not expecting any commitments today, except for possibly Miller. JMO.

  • D'Brickashaw Ferguson says:

Since it’s all fluff lately, who are 3 recruits you’re most excited about so far?

For me, it’s Gallimore, Haughton, and PJ.

    • Shelby is a Patriot says:

I would probably go with the same 3 as you.

      • D'Brickashaw Ferguson says:

For the record, I think OU has tremendous quality this class. And huge props to the coaches for keeping everyone committed after a disappointing season.

Those 3 I listed are those who immediately came to mind. You could make a case for any recruit, IMO.

        • Shelby is a Patriot says:

No doubt. It’s really great class! I’m glad Mbanasor has stayed committed despite what appears to be issues in the coaching of our secondary.

    • SoonerFan16 says:

      Haughton, Deberry, Humphrey

    • curt gomer says:

DeBerry,Gallimore, and anyone who can stop the pain i feel when the opposing QB drops back to pass!

    • CrimsonGhost says:

I hope all of the following can make early impacts: Campbell, Gallimore, DeBerry, Cody Ford, and Wariboko (if we land him).

    • Fear The Magic says:

Almost impossible to just pick 3 but if I had to Id ssay Gallimore, Deberry and Westbrook who I think will add so much to our passing game. But others like Mann, Campbell, Samia, Ford, PJ….well everyone really.

      Edit: Forgot about Austin Seibert

    • curt gomer says:

Something about Gallimore when i watched him really makes me feel that with JM coaching him up he could possibly approach what Tommy Harris and Gerald McCoy did here.

    • Zack says:

Great question. It’s tough to say just 3

    • KellyB says:

I’m really excited to see Anderson, Ricky and Siebert

      • boomersooner says:

Nice list. I’d like to add Mann to it but he said only 3. Seems like its gonna be an awesome class

    • hOUligan says:

Concensus pick: Gallimore. Guy could be an absolute nightmare. DeBerry ’cause I long for the days of a LB other teams have to game plan for. Going with Sunderland. Kid brings some violence ala Brandon Everage. Seeing a pattern here.

    • BigJoeBrown says:

      Samia, DeBerry, Westbrook

  • D'Brickashaw Ferguson says:

Also seen some rumors that Kerry Cooks (ND’s CB coach) might be a possibility for OU.

This would be a fantastic hire, IMO.

  • curt gomer says:

    holly crap!! nice update added!!

  • Stephen says:

    I’ll give it a Boom.

  • JB says:

Off topic… Anyone watching Michigan-Mich State game? Why does Tom Izzo always look like he’s in a permanent state of constipation? Take a laxative already!

  • Carl Carter says:

The lack of updates the past 24 hours have made me curious.. How did the official visits go?? I’m not seeing anything on Twitter either

  • Daddy R says:

    Must. Get. To. 2000.

Can we share an opinion on the “secret visitor” yet?

    • Easton says:

      Please do, feel free.

      • D'Brickashaw Ferguson says:

Just didn’t want to say anything since others haven’t mentioned his name

        • Easton says:

You have the liberty as a poster.

          • D'Brickashaw Ferguson says:

Cool. While I like his hard-hitting nature and love that he flies all over the field, I don’t believe he’s a better prospect than Justin Reid or the other two safeties in this class.

Nothing against him personally, but I was hoping the “secret visitor” was a better prospect at a position of need (like LB). Again, just my opinion

          • Easton says:

Interesting. Brandon Everage hit you hard don’t come over the middle type hitter?

          • D'Brickashaw Ferguson says:

Again, love that he lowers the boom (similar to Brandon Everage.) But that doesn’t mean he will be an Everage-type player at OU or UNC.

Then again I’m high on Kerry Cooks. If Cooks likes him, then bring him in!

          • Kody K. says:

I was hoping it was a LBer as well. But hey, we definitely need to tighten up the back end and it’s hard to tell which of these recruits are going to turn out to be the real deal. I sure hope McG comes on board with Deberry because only one LB commit will be a failure. Otherwise, I think this years coup is looking very promising.

          • JB says:

Without AT LEAST 1 more LB and a (quality) QB, I would say it’s been more failure than success this year

          • SoonerfanTU says:

lol, so it’s the kid that switched from ND to NC?

          • JB says:

            LB or a QB

        • Easton says:

But I would hesitate if I knew, probably would wait just so the right guys got the credit. But that’s me.
