– Du’Vonta Lampkin: I’ve been in communication with someone close to Du’Vonta Lampkin and if all goes according to plan, OU fans should be receiving some good news as soon as today, or early next week at the latest.
I’ve been asked not to say too much at the moment, though, I suspect you all can probably connect the dots on your own. We’ll have more on this once everything is official. #JustWaitOnIt – (Super K)
– Amani Bledsoe: 2016 DT Amani Bledsoe (Lawrence, KS) released his Top 6 yesterday and, as expected, OU made the cut along with: Oregon, Kansas, Missouri, NC State, and UCLA.
You will recall that Bledsoe recently visited Oklahoma for a fall camp practice. And while I have not had a chance to catch up with Bledsoe yet, I did speak with someone who was at practice that day and was told Mike Stoops spent a good amount of time talking to Bledsoe, “saying all the right things.”
You may also recall Bledsoe visited both OU and OSU on that same day, yet the Cowboys were noticeably absent from the earlier referenced Top 6. – (Super K)
– Teton Saltes: I caught up with 2016 DE Teton Saltes (Albuquerque, NM) earlier this week to see where things currently stand with regards to his recruitment.
For those of you who may not remember Saltes, he is a tall athletic defensive end who only starting playing football last year. He started picking up interest and offers from power five schools last spring. Saltes’ mother is originally from Oklahoma, and Mike Stoops made an in-person visit with Saltes this past spring.
Teton said he still continues to have regular communication with Stoops. He does not have his official visits lined up yet and still hasn’t received an offer from OU, but Saltes said, “they are hinting at offering and want me to come out on a visit.” – (Super K)
– Caleb Kelly: I caught up with Caleb Kelly this week to check in, and we spoke briefly about his official visit plans. Given that he has already been to Norman multiple times now, some may have thought there would be a chance the Sooners may not receive one of Kelly’s five official visits. Kelly quickly put that to rest, however, confirming he does plan to take an official visit to OU at some point this season. – (Super K)
– Scrimmage Notes: The Sooners held their final scrimmage of fall camp yesterday and will wrap up camp altogether today with one final practice before breaking for the weekend. After speaking with a few sources, here are a few notes on yesterday’s scrimmage:
* As we mentioned earlier in the week, the defense has been dominatant most of the week. That continued yesterday with the defense winning the day fairly decisively. However, as I’ll note below, there are a number things to keep in mind with respect to the defense’s ‘dominance’ yesterday.
* I was told that both Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine played sparingly during the scrimmage. Not an injury issue, just precautionary.
* Dede Westbrook did not go yesterday as he has been dealing with a personal issue (based on a tweet from yesterday it sounds like it has been taken care of, though).
* Sterling Shepard only took part in the offense’s first series yesterday.
* I’m also told that three or four offensive linemen played little or not at all yesterday. Some guys dinged up but nothing serious Again, I’m told their being held out was primarily precautionary.
* With four of your primary weapons playing little to none and a number of offensive linemen also held out, I don’t reckon too much can be taken from yesterday’s scrimmage. Although it’s certainly encouraging to see the development of depth.
* Was told Cody Thomas struggled yesterday throwing two interceptions. One was a tipped ball by a receiver — which I believe you can see on the scrimmage highlights OU released — and the other was just a bad read on a route. Definitely not one of Thomas’ strongest performances as I was also told he had trouble with accuracy yesterday, overthrowing a number of passes.
* Baker Mayfield and Trevor Knight had the best day among the QBs, though it sounds like a slight edge would probably go to Mayfield. I was actually told Knight may have received a few more reps, but I was led to believe not to read too much into that.
* It sounds like Mayfield did a great job of taking care the ball yesterday. Which seems to be a trend for this week of practices as we noted yesterday. It’s clear he has done a good job of remedying some of the turnover issues he had earlier in fall camp.
* Was told the offensive line was dominated by the defensive line but was cautioned, again, that some offensive linemen sat out (and of course OU’s top two RBs as well).
* Even taking the note above into account, one source said with respect to the front seven, “the defensive line could be something really special and the linebackers are finally being physical again.”
* Another good day for Jeffrey Mead with “two crazy catches” though apparently one was ruled incomplete.
* Defensively, I’m told Steven Parker had a great day and a great camp overall. Parker is really emerging as a leader in the secondary. The freshman safeties still need to work on is being vocal and making calls, but that is something Parker has gone out of his way to try and help them with.
* I was also told that PJ Mbanasor tooks some reps with the 1’s and held his own. He did make a mistake or two, apparently tried to get a little too physical with a receiver and got beat. But overall it sounds like he had a good day.
* I’m told the team did tackle to the ground yesterday, however, they were told to take it easy (to be mindful of injuries).
– UPDATE (Fri., 1:01 pm): As we said above, Du’Vonta Lampkin confirms he will be attending OU.

OP before 7…. priceless

Boomer
Sounds like if we don’t get bledsoe then saltes will be the next in line.
I am hoping Saltes is a OLB prospect. Want both.
On some of the otber sites one was lead to believe that the QB play by Knight and Thomas was awful with multiple INTs. Between the Sooner Sports replay and the previous OP info, makes me think maybe nothing between the 3 QBs has changed much. I was encouraged with the improvement of the D.
Was told Trevor threw one INT. Last week it sounded like CT and TK had the best week. This week it sounds like Baker and Trevor had the best week with a slight nod perhaps to BM. But you have to remember these are the opinions of observers. It’ll come down, of course, to Stoops and Riley’s opinion 🙂
One has to take into consideration the agenda of whomever is passing along info. For example, these guys like to hand out info for free and get guys names out there to help them find a place to play. They may end up saying something like “Knight by far had the best day and best week for that matter and he even helped an old lady cross the street”. By the end of the day, somewhere else, this will read “per brainiacs:Trevor Knight will not only start but will win Heisman”.
For some reason, people wanna smear someone. Which really pisses me off when it’s one of the kids. Some waste of space wants to pop off about a 20 yr old and demand perfection from him when he himself fails at 50% of life is beyond hypocritical
I often wonder how some of these folks would do if they had to do their job in front of 90,000+ people. Of course, it’s hard to crowd that many people into a MacDonalds.
I’ve written software for the world’s largest retailer with billions of customers. Does that count?
Were they looking over your shoulder as you wrote it, and yelling at you when you put the { at the end of the line instead of at the start of the next one?
The customers weren’t, but the bosses were! 🙂
That’s why you should always place your screen facing away from the door.
No. …..but yet impressive!
Negative
Mead could have a break-out kind of season. This will be fun to watch!
Just heard from the radio that miciah quick (butchered that name) could be moved to defense. Does anybody know if there’s any truth to that?
I have not heard that. Do know he didn’t have the best day yesterday but was also told he took very limited reps. Wouldn’t think one bad day where he took a limited number of snaps would send him to the defensive side.
That’s what I thought too. I hadn’t heard anything about that here and so was just curious. Really feel like he can be a good player if he puts it all together
I have watched some replays from last year and he gave flashes of what he is capable of as a WR. Also, he has added fourteen pounds in the current roster from the last one, 170 to 184. At 6’0″ that gives him a solid body to play inside WR.
Remember our new WR coach saying that we need to recruit more players like Quick? I do.
This seems like a system in which Quick could be quite effective at slot. He’s only a sophomore.
That’s where alot of people projected him out of high school though it sounds like he’s been coming on really strong in the last week or two
I think he could be a star on defense. But the coaches know best where he should be.
If anyone should me moved to the other side it’s Stanvon Taylor to WR. Michiah Quick actually looks good at receiver, and he is explosive. He just needs to get consistent with catching the ball
Yeah, cause catching the ball is rather important for, you know, a receiver.
When he came here he did say he wanted to play both sides.
That was nothing more than the same talk that took place during his recruitment in which many believed he could potentially have a brighter future at CB than at WR. But he didn’t want to play CB and I suspect that hasn’t changed. Now maybe something changes in the future, but any talk of it happening now is very much premature.
Heard some noise that Orso may be moved to OT for next year. You hearing anything like this. thanks Jordan.
They tried to get him to move to the OL last year, he didn’t want to. Maybe he changes his mind at some point, but I don’t believe that is the case as of now.
Cool, thanks
September 5th can’t get here fast enough

You may also recall Bledsoe visited both OU and OSU on that same day, yet the Cowboys were noticeably absent from the earlier referenced Top 6. – (Super K)
Sorry, I like when this happens. I had a little brother fan telling me that it was bad news for OU that he was visiting both schools back to back.
Gotta love ’em. Heard one on the radio talking about how OSU has as much if not more clout than OU now. And he thinks the SEC wants then more than OU.
The SEC probably does want OSU more. They need more teams to dominate.
Sounds like some more of Matty Meyer’s garbage being spewed on the airwaves, does the SEC even know osu is located.
“uhhh, somewhere in Oklahoma?”–general SEC fans
There’re a team on the rise! (For the 20th year in a row.)
The SEC must’ve thought they meant Ohio State
Drugs are bad mmmkay!
….right…
He must have really impressed with all the osu championship banners.
In Cross Country and Wrestling.
An OP this early, sound like you have big weekend plans Super K.
Thanks for all that you do for us here.
After reading this, all the Cody Thomas supporters are like

No that’s when somebody mentions Trevor Knight
Yep, one bad practice or scrimmage and it’s over for him.
Yep, put a fork in him, he’s done.
My reply to Soonerfandave is sarcastic, just so everyone knows….just like his post is. No harm meant.
Nah, right on man. Sarcasm is great unless someone misses that it’s sarcasm
Exactly….that’s why I put a disclaimer on mine. Too bad there isn’t an icon you can type at the end of a sarcastic remark so that everyone realizes it’s sarcastic and not meant to be taken literally.
I agree, a sarcasm font or something would be nice. I just leave it for those smart enough to figure it out 🙂
How’s this:
Burn it down…down to the ground!!!
/s
I was about to say, dang SD went and stole your account info 😉
Sarcasm and wit elude him.
heh
That’s why we have actors! Someone to interpret the sarcasm.
Yeah, it’s so sad to see these eighteen, nineteen year old guys who are never going to get better at anything ever again.
Might as well pack up and go home.
Or transfer to a school in Texas.
True, even as terrible as he obviously is right now..he’d still be the #1 option in Austin TX
^Sarcasm^ for those that don’t get it. Dogging on UT, not Cody Thomas. I got your back Soonerfandave. 🙂
This is how I have done it for years, post it underneath.
/s
I’ll remember that EasTex…though most of you guys know sarcasm when you see it 🙂
Most of the time, better not to assume, though.
When in doubt…/s. 😀
will do
Most, that’s the operative word..

He’s done take him off scholarship
Why don’t you contribute something meaningful, rather than condemn one player and his supporters? Just because of one practice where a player struggled due to the absence of SEVERAL playmakers does not erase all the positive things he did throughout fall camp.
I don’t wish to be preachy, but the comments about the QBs and the comments about the posters commenting about the QBs need to be toned down here.
Not calling you out, James Paul or Jason Vos, just speaking in general that it’s gotten out of hand lately.
Please be respectful to the players, coaches, and each other. It’s ok to criticize, just be specific about what you are criticizing and have examples to support your post.
1000+
I would like to comment on posters who comment on posters who comment. …Well,……………………ok, no comment at this time.
I would like to comment on MY comment. “Really Oscar? Too much commenting. Please stop”
Don’t forget to up vote yourself.
I agree with Sooner 76. Cody Thomas is still a Sooner and probably a good kid. Regardless, if he doesn’t start or not, why are we stting here bashing the kid and saying he should get the heck out of town? One bad practice and the kid sucks and shouldn’t ever wear a Sooner jersey again? Heaven forbid, but Baker could have an injury, Trevor could go out there and throw 5 picks and I bet people would be screaming to throw Cody out there. I remember all the screams for Bell when Landry threw a couple picks against K-State and Notre Dame in 2012. We need to support all the kids on our team, because you never know when you need him.
INTs happen, especially if the defense is playing well and the offense is minus its 4 best players
James I think he was just having fun brother :-). He’s been pulling for Cody himself
Pay them no mind K, too many over sensitive people out there. This isn’t the end all be all, it’s just football. If you can’t have fun with it then some ppl might want try something else
Especially this close to the first game. I am so impatient at this point, but a good laugh here and there always helps. Football is football, and I know Stoops and co will play whichever QB give OU the best chance of winning.
Over sensitive? Did you see the whole thread about the hallmark channel. Next up why I love Oprah.
Exactly. That graphic is hysterical.
FYI: No real Sooner ever pulls for any teammate to fail.
Condemn? Don’t see where I condemned anyone
I’m one of those Cody Thomas supporters btw, if you didn’t know
The language and graphic, implied ridicule, at the very least.
Not toward Cody Thomas.
Ya Mayfield has had a weak camp overall but should start because of a good scrimmage. Cody has a bad scrimmage and probably should transfer to East Popcorn State.
Who said Mayfield has had a weak camp?
All three quarterbacks have turned in their stinkers this camp.
That said, I upvoted because Homer Simpson.
OP, When you get to work. :-0 Thanks Guys!! Another reason “It’s always a great day to be a SOONER”!!!!
Marvin Terry set up a OU visit how much of a priority is he right now ?
Brandon told me that they want Kelly, Terry and Bundage and would take them all
Man so would they back off anyone they already have or do they see JMT and bundage as hybrid players, therefore they don’t consider them LB prospects?
I think both would be ILBs.
Zack, based on your posts, you like to recruit players who play that position in HS. Nothing wrong with that. However, Evans played S and he will be our best ILB. Bundage has the ability to do the same in time. I focus more on ability and instincts. Some of our best LBs didn’t play LB in HS.
I like it. We do lose 3 LBs this year and Alexander and Evans will be SRs next year so makes sense. I do wish they would get Saltes on board and start him at OLB always can be moved to DE.
Id love to get Kelly and Terry but what EasTex said about Bundage has me concerned about him some.
Wow, that would be an impressive haul for 2016 backers. If they are good, take them, I like it.
It’s a great day to be a Sooner! And tomorrow will be even better.
Really want to see Lampkin here; he probably play the position on D at which OU has the least depth–the 3-technique tackle. Just wait on it. 🙂
I’m pumped about getting another high quality DT but I can’t see Lampkin coming in having missed all summer and fall camp and not getting a redshirt considering all the guys who are having trouble getting on the field having been here for the summer and all of camp. From what I understand about the situation it sounds like Lampkin is “something down the road to be excited for” thing.
Yes, very likely he will redshirt.
almost all DTs redshirt…even Gerald McCoy
that’s why everyone is so excited about Que Overton
yeah Jamarcus escaped a redshirt right? didn’t do him a ton of good though :/
I don’t remember on him, but he never seemed to achieve the level of play his ability suggested he could
Tommie Harris didn’t redshirt, but he was one of the great ones.
He will absolutely redshirt, IMO.
Right on! First day of school and have an OP before I head out here in Cali. RENEW MY SUBSCRIPTION! TFB is the best.
just send me your credit card information and I will make sure Super K and Esco get the necessary funding
or at least what they are asking!
is the game against Ohio State next year in Norman or Columbus?
Norman
Norman, and it will be the grand unveiling of the first round of renovations since OU plays in Houston the first game
Who is the game in Houston with?
/can’t recall
Houston, though this link lists ULM second game (at home)
http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa-16/2016-oklahoma-sooners-football-schedule.php
Thanks.
You’re welcome
sweeeet, I am pumped about that game..finally one of the big time programs that OU schedules is actually going to be BIG TIME when they play! They’ve done a great job scheduling big programs but they have all been off everybody’s radar when OU has played them so far. Except for FSU but they were way overranked at the time anyway.
I can’t wait for that game either. CGD will be there, a national Saturday night game, and tons of recruits most likely
Matt : the game is in Norman and, to get you prepared, try to find some film or a retrospective about the ND/OU game in Norman in 1966…..the 2016 game will be eerily similar in that both ND/ tOSU was / is immensely talented and the Sooners of 1966 faced a team with far superior talent at most every position as will the 2016 Sooners.. the 66 ND had a superior coach ( Parseghian ) and there is none better than tOSU’s Urban Meyer…. …..the 1966 game was 38-0 for ND ; the 2016 game results ? Sitting in Owen Field 50 yrs ago, I could not believe the difference in the athletes ND trotted on the field with compared to what Jim Mckenzie had at his disposal…..the differences will probably be as great when Urban & Bob square off a year henceforth………….
so I take it you’d rather just see OUr boys play cupcakes? You don’t think OU can play with anyone at any time? After the Sugar bowl two years ago, I do.
Matt : just saying I think tOSU has superior talent on both sides of the LOS and throughout its team and , very possibly, the result next fall will be similar to the ND/OU game of 1966 when an undefeated ND team faced an undefeated OU team and proceeded to embarrass the Sooners 38-0 ( and me sitting in the stands having to watch it )……I think the talent level difference is THAT great. But we’ll see next year…
The likelyhood of the result of next falls OU/ OSU game being simialr to the ND/ OU drubbing of 38-0 is as likely as me joining the Stephen Dale fan club.
In other words, not a chance in hell.
welllllllllllllll okay.
Living in Cincinnati, Ohio. I know way to much about tOSU with a bunch of family and friends from this area being Buckeye fans. I think you are wayyyyy to complementary of tOSU talent level. We have just as good of talent. Plus they will be losing some key component next year. i.e. Ezekiel Elliott (junior that will leave early), Joey Bosa (junior that will leave early), 1 WR, 2 QB, 3 OL, 2 DT, 1 LB. Secondary is the only part that will stay in tact.
Forgot one, Meyer will leave too if there isn’t enough talent
its too early to know with certainty which , if any, juniors will leave early…Bosa’s brother from Ft Lauderdale St Thomas Aquinas will arrive next fall so Bosa might stay an extra year to play with baby brother….
I’m glad the boys don’t piss their pants when they’re faced with adversity
so I guess in your view, OU has been signing nothing but 2 star recruits?
Don’t waste your time
Matt : didn’t say anything about OU’s talent other than I think it is vastly inferior to tOSU…….but again, that assessment is in the eye of the viewer ……
Judging by the last NFL draft OU is right there with the Buckeyes. I would argue that OU has better O linemen and RBs.
Sanchez : tOSU was an insanely YOUNG team last year with numerous rs/fr & sophs dotting its 3-deep roster……other than Doran Grant ( Db/ to NFL Steelers ), tOSU didn’t lose anything of note…..
My point is throwing out the inaccurate 4 and 5 * speculation, OU has equal talent with the Buckeyes, just as we did with Meyer’s Gators.
I attended the 1966 ND game. They were MNC that year. One of their best teams ever. OU was in the first year rebuilding under Jim MacKenzie, who would have been a great coach had he lived. OU finished #2 the following year. If you examine the story, you will see many similarities b/t the hiring of MacKenzie, his staff, and the situation before they arrived with that of Bob.
I think it will be a close game and OU will have a chance to win. Certainly will be a challenge.
lots of similarities.indeed……
Upon request. Figured this morning was as good as any before we launch into the final two weeks before we get our football on. The final installment of the “Who is Stephen Dale?” saga. Thanks to Stephen for being a good sport. Pardon any typos.
After receiving the hint from the mysterious priest, our Faniac travels to what was the Oklahoma Mordor before Lawton became Lawton: Stillwater. Once there, the Faniac surrenders to the Orange Guard and is tortured with those goofy frat paddles. When he shouts, “Stephen Dale!” the torture ceases. The Orange Guard then release the Faniac and escort him to a royal hall. Down the middle of the hall is an orange carpet. Opposite the Faniac is a throne and above the throne a large dollar bill with T. Boone’s face. The bill reads at its corners “bajillion”.
On the throne is the Pistol Pete mascot and in the mascot’s lap sits a porcupine with an OSUcks visor. The mascot gently pets the porcupine’s stomach.
Orange Guard: “Coach, you have a visitor.”
Gundy’s voice: “A visitor. A visitor of what sort?”
Orange Guard: “He is one of the crimsonites.”
[Pause].
Gundy’s voice: “Leave us.”
[Orange Guard exits].
Gundy’s voice: “What is your business here, crimsonite? Speak while I am willing to listen.”
Faniac: “Hi, Coach. My name is…”
Gundy’s voice: “I did not ask your name.”
Faniac: “Right. I’m here to seek answers. But, uh. Where are you?”
Gundy’s voice: “Approach my throne.”
[Faniac begins to walk]
Gundy’s voice: “It’s a fabulous throne, is it not?”
Faniac: “Yeah, sure. It’s, uh…”
Gundy’s voice: “Daddy gave it to me.”
Faniac: “Who?”
Gundy’s voice: “Daddy, you twit. He’s only a bajillionaire. Are you a bajillionaire? No, you’re not, but I am because Daddy made me one, not you. Pete darling, would you please point out Daddy to the crimsonite? I’m much too tired.”
[Mascot points to T. Boon portrait].
Faniac: [Stops before the throne]. “I’m sorry, but are you…”
Gundy: “I am a man.”
Faniac: “But you’re a…”
Gundy: “I said I am a man!”
[Quills shoot from the Gundy porcupine, hitting the mascot. The mascot bleeds from the neck, gurgles, and slumps. The Orange Guard scramble out from behind a curtain. One member picks up Gundy. One pulls the limp body away behind the curtain, and another drags a new mascot to the throne.]
New mascot: “Please, no. No, I’m sorry. Please let me go. I’ll sign with UTEP, and you’ll never see me again, I promise. I’ll sign with UTEP!”
[New mascot is forced onto throne. Gundy is replaced on his lap. Guard exits.]
Gundy: [To new mascot] “Oh, hello, Pete darling. I’ve missed you. Please pet me, will you? For I am cold on the belly.”
Faniac: “Look, Coach. This is all getting weird. I just want to know who is Stephen Dale.”
Gundy: “Listen. [Cups porcupine ear]. Do you hear that?”
Faniac: “Am I supposed to hear something?”
Gundy: “It is the sound of Daddy laughing. [Speaks to the T. Boone portrait]. Why are you laughing, Daddy? Oh, I know. Because you and I are wealthy, and the poor crimsonite is not us.”
Faniac: “I really just want…”
Gundy: “Silence!”
[Quills flare. Mascot yelps].
Gundy: “You have asked your question. But I have not given my answer. Pete dear?”
Mascot: [Shaking] “Yes, Cuh-coach. I mean, your…your royal coach majesty man sir. That. I mean, uh. Gah!”
Gundy: “Retrieve the chalice Daddy gave to me.”
[Frantic, the mascot reaches to one side of the throne and retrieves a chalice.]
Gundy: “Hold it to the crimsonite.”
[Mascot holds out chalice to the Faniac].
Faniac: “No. No, thank you.”
Gundy: “I did not ask you to drink. I wouldn’t want your poor lips to stick to the wealth. Look inside.”
Faniac: [Looks inside]. “I see nothing.”
Gundy: “Stop shaking, Pete!”
[Mascot steadies shaking hand with other hand].
Faniac: “Still nothing.”
Gundy: “He is in there.”
Faniac: “In the nothing?”
Gundy: “What? No, in you, stupid! You’re supposed to see your reflection. Like Rafiki I brain-fu your expectations. So I speak with the ancient wisdom of baboons. Now look inside and be amazed and make it quick. I’d like to talk about me some more.”
Faniac: “But it’s an empty cup.”
Gundy: “Empty? Why, Pete, you clumsy…!”
[Mascot screams. Tosses porcupine and runs for the door. Gundy shoots quails and hits the mascot in the back. Mascot falls dead and is dragged away. Another mascot takes his place. Gundy is returned to new mascot’s lap. The Orange Guard fill the chalice with Sunny Delight.]
Gundy: “Look inside yourself, Simba. And try not to breathe in it.”
Faniac: “No, I get it.”
Gundy: “Do not tell me no, crimsonite. Look and be surprised. Go on before I become bored or angry.”
Mascot: [Blurts] “Please, just do it, man! Come on!”
Faniac: “Okay, okay.” [Looks briefly]. “There. Every fan has a skeptical side and this skeptical side has become its own person. I get it, I get it. I’m the Sooners’ biggest fan and the Sooners’ biggest critic, and so Stephen Dale lives inside us all.”
Gundy: “Yes! You see how I have tabled the turns? And yet my mind power spares your un-wealthy life. Now make yourself useful and compliment me.”
Faniac: “Whatever. No, I’m out of here. Is there a side exit this way?”
[Faniac walks past throne towards curtain].
Gundy: “No, wait. Come back, crimsonite. Don’t…”
[Faniac pulls back curtain. Sitting at a computer is Brent Venables].
Venables: [Speaking while typing]. “…and Mike Stoops will fail as advertised. Hatey hate hate. Hate on you, EasTex. Hate on Jordan. Hate on JY. Hate on the Open Post. Or more like it, Open Roast. Buh-huh.”
Faniac: “Are you…?”
Venables: [Turns to Faniac] “………………………………………………..”
Robertson………………..you should be in Hollywood writing TV scripts….yours is better than some actual dialogue I’ve seen on Bravo , DIY, Hallmark ,etc lately………enjoyed it…………
LOL! I appreciate that, Stephen. This is what happens when you become bored easily. Thanks for being a good sport and keep doing your thang. Boomer!
Whoa Whoa Whoa, you’ve taken it too far knocking on my Hallmark movies!!! 🙂
Lincoln : how many of these ‘sweet, adorable loves stories centered around a widowed dad / mom and small child can one stand ? they people are always so level-headed, never smoke, curse, get abusive, etc etc——————–its almost too much to process and the Christmas movies haven’t even started yet —they start Nov 1 – Dec 31 !!!!!
They are great aren’t they? I don’t have to worry about what my sweet little girls are watching or hearing. It’s almost like these movies are about real people and real life situations and not some made up fantasy of soft core porn with the neighbors. To each their own I guess. I hope you have a blessed day sir.
Lincoln : Actually I enjoy them as well………….Some I watch every time they reappear…..’12 men of Christmas’, “Christmas in Caanan’ , ‘9 Lives of Christmas’, ‘Christmas Card’ are just 4 of those I try never to miss even though I’ve seen them several times….when one dissects them, there are lots of good story lines to reflect upon.
Agreed, Christmas Card is a personal favorite. Looking forward to see what they come out with this year.
http://i510.photobucket.com/albums/s343/wgman21/mancard.jpg
HaHa no doubt!
Bob : you are being too harsh !!! Hallmark Channel is where men go to find their ‘more gentle, inner self’…….its where we see sweet, personable women who are looking for a lifelong relationships, actually have jobs, and will be true to that man and vice versa. !!!!! You’ll only find this type of woman on the Hallmark Channel . They are as ‘rare as hens teeth’ in the real world… Guess the ‘more gentle, inner self’ guy doesn’t exist anywhere else, either…….
Check out farmers only dot com
Boomer: have never heard of this site… farmersonly.com did you say ?
Yeah they have talking dogs and whatnot on their commercials
A blue merle Australian shepherd at that.
For you it’s farmersonly………………………com. Sorry, couldn’t resist.
First off, it was obviously a joke playing off certain stereotypes.
As for the rest. I’ve been married to the same woman for thirty-seven years. She hasn’t worked outside the home for the last twenty or so, but she has managed a household that, at its peak, contained fifteen people, ten of whom were teenagers. Easily as difficult as managing your own business. Didn’t find her on the Hallmark Channel. Maybe those kind of women are looking for a different kind of man than the “more gentle, inner self” guy.
Wow, Bob. You must have the patience of Job (or an OSU fan!) to handle all of that – along with an awesome woman! Very impressed.
It’s the awesome woman that has the patience and handles me. I definitely married up.
I would agree.
October xmas
“…they start Nov 1 – Dec 31 !!!”
I was totally talking about this the other day in the office. Two dates marked on my calendar: Sept 5th and Nov 1st. And yes, I lost my “man card” a long, long time ago.
Cool, starts on my Birthday. Although some say I could have been born ON Halloween.
Heck yeah. Looks like Hallmark has a full day of birthday fun planned out for you.
Yeppers. I enjoyed the Good Witch series. Hopefully it will be on the calendar again this year.
I love the one about the kid that gets his first AK-47 under the tree. SO adorable! Arrrrrrrrr ! (Patty Heaton plays the Mom)
okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay !!!!!! be nice to ‘adopt’ patricia heaton !!
Come on Robertson, everyone knows Stephen Dale is the evil ego of Jordan Esco. Please change the ending to reflect that fact.
An addendum, you say? 🙂
FM : shush !!! you are not supposed to make this information public… have you noticed how much board activity increases when I make my appearances ? eliciting board hits increases visibillty , doncha know ?
bajillionaires!!!!
HAHAHAHA!!!!
Was crying because I was laughing…then the tears shifted to those of the sad variety when I realized that this was the final installment…
Epic storytelling! Thanks RR.
Glad to share the silly nonsense with my Sooner brethren. 🙂
Awesome was well worth the wait.. Now, TFB bring on the shirts. Would be your best sellers. :-0
Just watched the Party At Stoops House on soonersports. I think Gabriel Campbell can be a OLB.. Has the look, if he has a pass rush please move him there along with Austin Roberts..
I was thinking that Bob needs to plant some more trees. Doesn’t look anything like Youngstown.
Looking at Mayfield’s upper body I’m curious as to how he has managed to avoid Smitty and his staff all this time. :-0
Also, the piano bench must be made of military grade material.
Thanks Super K, Esco and all at TFB. I may not tell you every day, but I am thankful every day when I come to this site. I’ve been a Sooner fan for a long time, and this has been my favorite place I’ve ever gone to.
I also like the readers who comment on this site better than any other site. I especially like EasTex, Bob Edwards (he looks friendly enough from his picture!). L’Caretron Dookmarriot (I’m afraid to ever met that guy; his picture scares me and I’ve become a carrier b/c of it), Zack, K1123 and many others I know I’m overlooking.
Can’t wait for this season. I think OU’s going to be very good this year. I think we’ll get our first real idea of where we might be stronger and weaker in areas at Tenn, so looking forward to that game especially.
You ain’t so bad your own self. :->
I’m not even an OU fan, I just come here for the entertainment.
Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moon light?
No, but I have been in a fiddle contest down in Georgia…
I told you once you son of a gun, I’m the best theres ever been.
edited version eh? lol
Yeah, i try not to swear on MBs.
You ever been to Meridian?
So tell us how your pokes are going to do this year. BTW, how much is Pickens paying Ubben?
I have no idea.
Saw a post from you that said “go Pokes”. I’m sure you have an idea.
If I am making a prediction, I would say 9-4…
Welcome!!!
Well bye someone post curly bill pick
must be the guy from Pistols misfiring blog or sad cowboys ride alone….either way, I like to troll those sites for fun from time to time. Welcome Kyle!
Thanks Kelly!
here’s my question. how does carson cunningham write for a fanboy site and still pretend he has an ounce of credibility as a member of the media?
haha, he doesn’t actually write for the site. He just chimes in on uniform discussions and round table predictions
oh yes, the important stuff. He’s still not very good at his job imo… I’ll still read your site though, it’s fun, and it’s not texas…
well thanks! I am from Tulsa so I actually don’t get to see his work much.
hello
I am! TFB is the best place to get my sooner scoop.
You have to pay for the sooner scoop elsewhere
yeah I don’t really like to pay for sites. I get all I want on this site. I like the recruiting scoops and the inside info about practices
Yeah…more info here than those other sites anyway
Sweet! I do my best to watch the walls without trolling 🙂 there is some genuinely good content in here
Yes there is, and good folks too
you all aren’t so bad soonerfandave. 😉
Anybody
here read the article about the comparisons to Trevon Boykin and Trevor Knight?
It is funny because a week or two before that article came out I talked to my
buddy about exactly what the article said. Not as in depth but I knew TCU went
from 4-8 in 2013 to 12-1 in 2014 because they changed OC and went to “air raid”
system. OU is doing the exact same thing this year and I believe OU has more
and/or better playmakers than TCU. Do you guys not think Trevor could excel in
this system? I think he will start, based on his undeniable athleticism and
leadership and also, he has been consistent from what I have read on the OP. I
think most “reasonable” fans – not the bleacher addicts that yell or boo the
coaches and players, and claims he can do a better job – will agree or can at
least see why the coaches will give TK the starting position. I just don’t like
our fans treating TK the way they do. The man was the only reason why we beat
Bama. I would not trade the way last year went for what OU accomplished in 2013
because of Knight. Years from now when they talk about Bama’s dominance and
when it started to descend, they will bring up TK and OU. Also, I think 2014
was a wake-up call for Bob and a blessing in disguise. Judging from what I saw
in the spring game, videos and press conferences. Lincoln has the “it” factor.
OU needed this guy and if we won the KSU, TCU, OSU games do you guys think
Heupel and Norvel wouldn’t have gotten let go? I believe a team has the
advantage and gains momentum when they can move the chains consistently (that
did not happen last year, obviously) – that rests the defense and either puts
points on the board, takes time off the clock, possessions away from the
opposing team’s offense and gains field position. Whoever Lincoln choses I
think will excel and move the chains. Will he make mistakes – umm yes! Even
Bradford made mistakes people. All I am saying is don’t count out TK and please
don’t hate on him if he gets the starting position. I have full confidence in
whoever the coaches chose. And I will be excited for any of the three because I
know that player won and earned the job in a tight battle. Sorry for the novel,
I am just extremely excited for this season! Boomer!
I am pro Cody Thomas…mainly due to his size but I will be ok with whoever the coaches choose. And if that player starts stinking it up and OU is down 17-7 or something to Tennessee and the offense isn’t doing much..time to bring in someone else
I wouldn’t
argue with that decision either. I think that could happen and judging from the
OP it appears all three could make this OU offense run well. I am so amped up
for this season and very optimistic. But at least you agree with me that
whoever they chose of the three, that player earned it and you won’t bash on
the guy or coaches.
I’ll be ok with whoever wins as long as they aren’t turning the ball over and OU is winning games. I’d be ok with 21-9 type of games(meaning the D is improved)
Ohh absolutely! I would be a happy camper if every game was a nail bitter but only if we get the W haha. Like I said, if we can move the chains consistently then I believe we will win all our games this year. I like our defense too – I think they will be much better. We will see!
I honestly think it’s going to come down to can the OL make holes to run through on 3rd and short and keep the QB somewhat clean for the game.
Yes, the old Red Zone problem with spread teams is what I’m worried about. Hopefully, the power run game along with exceptional TE play and tall outside WR’s will help us overcome the Achilles Heel RZ problem of the Aid Raid. The OL talent and quick learning could really help us here. BB will have to earn his salary this year.
I think Mead/Andrews/Meier will help the redzone offense
Yes, play action fake and have one of the TE’s release and/or have Mead do a crossing route against smaller CB. That should help quite a bit.
and for 4th and goals from one yard out of the end zone theres always the Overtondozer.
I think we will, if the OL is good. I am curious to see how Lincoln will utilize Flowers. I haven’t heard much about him. Maybe the coaches are keeping him a secret haha. But I think Flowers, Mead, Quick, Andrews and obviously Mixon and Perine are all our next sooner stars offensively.
Let’s hope Perine and Mixon emerge as the two best RB’s in the country. But I will agree with you, if the OL doesn’t gel then it could be a long year for them two and the QB. I am optimistic though – so optimistic that I am going to Knoxville! Let’s hope I have tears of joy instead of sadness on my way back home haha
I think we’re going to be better on both sides of the ball, however I’m most concerned with the defensive backfield out of the entire team.
But but but but but but we paid for a ticket. It gives us the right to be douchebags and boo if we want to
I don’t have a problem with fans booing and being emotional. They want to be heard and that’s their job, to be emotional.
I do. We’ll just leave it at that
I understand where you are coming from but I see it as directed at the coaching decisions on the field not the kids. either way, I can see both sides of the argument.
I have been a season ticket holder for decades. That does not mean I have bought the right to boo kids on the field.
I agree with you on this. Sounds like you are a huge TK fan. As am I. But his performance last year was bad enough to justify the criticism he is getting from fans. I cursed him every time he through a game changing/clinching pick 6. But I love his athleticism, class, and Sooner spirit. But that doesn’t win games. As for who gets the start this year? I hope its him. I have absolutely know idea but I trust LR and Stoops to pick the guy that puts us in the best position to win games and that’s all that matters. This is my first comment on here BTW. Been following for about a year now. love this sight, they do a bang up job and the regulars on here make that much better. Ready for some football!! See yall in Norman on the 5th! BOOMER!!!!!!
You could say I am a fan. But I wouldn’t be sad if he doesn’t start. I am just stating the comparisons between him and Boykin and what happened in just one year for TCU. Why can’t that happen for OU? And why can’t TK have a year like Boykin? All I am saying is don’t be angry if he gets the job because there will be fans that will be upset if he does. I think whoever the coaches chose that player will get the job done. And yes! I will see you on the 5th.
I agree. No reason Knight couldn’t excel in this offense. And for the record, I would never boo one of our players on the field. But watching the away games on TV. That’s a different story… 🙂
I really believed that TK could have a Boykin turnaround. Then Berry Tramel wrote an article saying it could happen and now I doubt myself for thinking that haha.
For this OU offense to succeed the QB will need accuracy and poise. We haven’t seen much accuracy from them yet. We will find out about the poise when the new OL goes up against Tenn.
To avoid another Sam Bradford/BYU situation, we may want to name the number 3 guy as the starter.
There’s that positive thinking again
Haha.
Well, I really didn’t mean it to sound as negative as it does. It was more of a joke.
Haha. I know. I like giving ya a hard time since all i got is printed words to work with. With the history of stuff like Bradford it makes people trepidacious about certain aspects. Thing is, I think we’ll have 3 serviceable to awesome fellas back there
We really need a distributor manager type. We have an over abundance of prime time weapons. Just get the ball in their hands and let the team do the work. Even if we don’t gun it down the field I think this O can be successful.
Yep. Someone mentioned TK missing a wide open Shep in the spring game. This is my worry…that we don’t have enough accuracy from our QBs to distribute.
I think we may have a QB or two that is more accurate than TK, but they will need time from the new OL to deliver.
Gonna be an interesting year.
I don’t think he needs as dramatic turn-around as Trevon. Eliminate 80% of the mental errors and that will be more than enough. Until shown other wise, I will trust that LR will pick the best guy for his system
A lot of players were responsible for the Bama win. Saunders sick double move for the TD was the play of the game, along with the Grissom sack.
I was typing up a (much) longer answer that completely agrees with what you said about this, but the work phone rang. Not meaning to steal your thunder!
Striker….
That’s true. But TK9 had a fantastic game and we didn’t win by much. So he deserves a lot of the credit. Defense and Sterling were pretty great too though. That was just an unbelievably great game. And, I called it. For real. This was my mantra, BRING ON BAMA! People thought I was crazy.
I agree with just about everything you said here. While TK has had his struggles, I think a lot of the hate directed his way is unjust, and much like some of his struggles, beyond his control. The guy is a class act, plain and simple, and has handled a pretty cruddy hand fairly well.
However, I do think your statement that, “The man was the only reason why we beat Bama,” may be a little bit of an exaggeration. Undoubtedly, Trevor played above any level we’ve seen from him before or since. But giving him sole credit for that night just takes away from so many others that stepped up that night and made that a special night for the Sooners as a whole. Jalen and Shep put on freakishly awesome performances as well, and they had been the most consistent on that side of the ball all season. Bester had some drive-saving catches that set TK, Shep and Jalen up for the success they had, as well as a couple of TD catches. The entire offensive line did a rather remarkable job of keeping that vaunted SEC defense out of Trevor’s face most of the night. And in no way can we understate what OUr defense did that night. Striker had as many sacks that night as Bama had given up ALL FREAKIN’ YEAR. OUr defense was disruptive from early on, and kept the pressure on the whole game. Geneo played like a madman, harassing any Tidesman he came across.
While TK played the game of his life, up to this point, Bama was beat, first and foremost, by a total team effort. I also like to think (right or wrong) that the entire Sooner Nation had something to do with that result. Even the violent Alabama Mom in the stands ended up losing that night, without so much as an aggressive action sent her way in retaliation.
I know that is a long winded, lecture-like recap. Sorry for that. As I stated up front, I agree with almost everything you said, but I felt like I needed to point out that while he played an amazing game, Trevor was not solely responsible for the Sugar Bowl victory. There were many gears that turned in order to secure that win. Trevor was a big, huge, key part of that, but not the only one.
Ah, Bell engineered the Bedlam win.
Hearing the depth chart is getting finalized today. It’ll be interesting if the QB will be established too. Not sure if they’ll announce anything this soon though. Also just saw the crap thats going on at Baylor, dont like them even more now.
What is going on at Baylor?
.
I got your back son!
Oh, yeah, I thought you meant something about their depth chart. Yep, that’s a bad story.
http://deadspin.com/baylor-s-investigation-of-sam-ukwuachu-was-shameful-1725434717
Called cheating! In my opinion when you get that good that Quick something is not right! Especially when you were as bad as baylor was! Now There paying for it.
Cant wait
I agree. Can’t stand Baylor!
Remember, nothing good ever comes in Green and Gold!
Well……except cash …and I guess gold.
I guess DGB coming to OU was ok though?
Yes
if you can’t distinguish between admitting a person with a record of misdemeanor pot possession and a simple assault charge (who’d been punished, including dismissal) on the one hand, and admitting a person with a record of a much more serious assault…and then committing arguably felonious obstruction of justice, along wiith clear violations of Title IX to cover up a major felony sexual assault, then I’m not sure we share enough common understanding to have a meaningful conversation on the point.
I am glad you call violence against women a “simple assault charge”.
These discussions never end well…
You should be a journalist. So far as I know, he shoved a woman who stumbled down three steps leading from a living room into a bedroom.
I am sooooo glad you find that equivalent to forcible rape.
This is a big deal. My daughter had to leave OU due to an OU athlete physically hurting her. The athlete is still there and on his team.
what process was followed to prosecute him? When you’re assaulted, police involvement is advised.
further: my sister was punched up by her boy friend. We ignored the campus yokels and went straight to New Orleans PD…and to the local women’s center. By the time the two of them were done, he was out of school, out of state and, last report, out of work.
Didn’t like it at all…I can see, supporting Mixon but bringing in trouble is just to much
It will say something like, T. Knight or B. Mayfield or C. Thomas and not name anybody a starter yet.

Damme it, no more!
Jordan, are you planning on doing the “Sooners in the NFL” again this year? It is awesome and much appreciated.
yessir
Any chance of adding video of Sooners making plays in the NFL to your report? That would make it even MORE awesome!
Sure, if you know a way around the NFL licensing restrictions 🙂
I suggest getting your own private server.
I have a private server. His name is Jeeves.
So let’s here it TFB Staff…who is your pick at QB? I like Knight. While BM had the best spring I think it would have been crazy for one of the other 2 guys to be better right away due to Baker’s familiarity with the O. It sounds like the most consistent this fall has been Trevor and the added run threat he brings is what puts him over the top for me. Let TK be TK and I think he could thrive in this O and the coaches should feel good knowing if he gets hurt they have capable players behind him… Thoughts?
Yeah, I can’t help but think the obvious limits that were place upon what TK was allowed to do for much of the season would not be conducive to bringing out his best play. Not trying to reopen that discussion, as I think the limits had very good reason, but I do think a by product of it would be less than optimal qb performance.
A look at the enemy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7v8unEs1gr0
They have had 2 back to back Top 5 recruiting classes. I think this team is a team that may win the East. We are going to have our hands full. They have size, speed, and talent. We will need to bring it.
Well, I’m bringing the beer and chips. They’ll have to take care of the rest.
Is winning the SEC east hard?
we should definitely have our hands full. The level of raw talent that we saw last year was remarkable, and it should be more this year, not to mention the seasoning of those who were around last year..
These guys make me very nervous. Would be fine if they were coming to Norman again. But I was at Neyland once, and it was ridiculously loud. I hope OU can get a quick lead, and control the game and the crowd.
Grab the lead, use Perine and Mixon to control the clock and the crowd
Hell yeah. I’d like to keep my heart rate below 120 this early in the season.
Me too. I like intense games, but only the kind that result in W’s
Oh yee of little faith. We will dominate them.
Hope so. But that Neyland crowd scares me. Especially at night.
They’re going to be a pretty solid team this season, we’ll know very quickly where OU stands because if OUr boys can win this game they’re going to scare the rest of the B12.
Good to see you on here, brother. Hope all is good on your end.
IF? Don’t you mean when!
I certainly hope so. I’d love to see that all the problems from the last couple of years are over and done with. The vols are going to be nasty this year if they can stay relatively healthy.
So far two starting Linemen out for the OU game. Point spread has dropped to Vols by 1 according to Teddy Lehman.
When TK won the qb job over Bell, one of the things I noticed were the consistent reports, over time, of the players raving about him. “Inside reports” of comments about how electric he was, etc. This time around neither of the newcomers are generating that kind of buzz, except for the reports of how likable Mayfield is, although all three seem to be getting folks excited. (Mixon seems to have the buzz this time around)
If I’m reading tea leaves from way outside the circle, I see TK’s name coming up fairly consistently as the other two seem to weave in and out of the top spots.
The reality check for me is that everyone outside of the OU fan group seems to view OU only as a dark horse contender for even the Big 12 championship, and certainly not the lock for national contender that one might think from our pre=season optimism. I, of course, can’t help but feel that we are a bit like the insider traders who have access to info that the others don’t.
So while I’m trying to temper my enthusiasm, it’s difficult, because I think that the games in which we saw QB woes, were also the games in which those around the qb didn’t play well, and this year looks like it will be very different in that department. We often hear positive reports this time of year about both o and d, but we usually hear more about question marks and not so many specifics about improvements.
It will be fascinating to see who gets selected to start, and how the second guessers will react. As before, I can’t wait for the season to start. Go Sooners!!!
You’re right about TK being the consistent name and he obviously has the physical tools to be a very good QB, now if only Lincoln Riley can program him in between the ears to make the right reads etc…. to me, all three of these guys have a clean slate at the moment.
It will be interesting to see how the new “system” plays into that, and whether it does in fact make the reading appear easier and more accurate.
I think the improvements to the offense will help showcase the improvements to the defense, giving them a chance to be more rested, and I think that side of the ball will make a dramatic leap this year, primarily due to experience, and also not having to play as much. Stopping the opponents and giving the offense multiple chances to work its new magic is gonna make a huge difference.
I couldn’t more agree with that thought. It was obvious, to me at least, that the D would get very discouraged with the turnovers and 3 and outs by the offense last season. It looked to me like they gave up in the Baylor and Clemson games.
We have so many playmakers on offense, that if the QB, whoever it is, will just protect the ball and move the chains, that the defense will be rested and motivated. And, of course, the O will put points on the board.
Don’t understand the double post, sorry.
Double post? One receiver goes skinny, the other hard. Let’s run that sucker!
Works for me, my friend. All of our QBs should be able to throw that route. It’s the cross the field quick outs and bubble screens that concern me, as those require a strong arm.

I also agree but this is where leadership needs to happen. How many years was the Baltimore a raven offense terrible but Ray Lewis never held his head low he looked at his guys and made them believe they were going to make the stop they needed. We need Tapper and Striker and Sanchez to be that guy. Having an offense play well helps players have confidence but leadership it will not.

I dont really follow recruits on the twitter…who is that?
Yeah, it would be nice if names were given, but I think it’s Lampkin.
It is Lampkin.
Lampkin
Cherry bomb in place…..match lit….
#waitingonit
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkA-L3mK7q8
Yes, sorry, this is Du’Vonta Lampkin
Bring the BOOM
to your knowledge, has lampkin ever had any contact a/o met with reynolds
The fact that he is treating this like his initial recruitment is a little annoying to me, just make your choice and keep it low key.
Annoying to me as well. Call the coaches, tell them your on your way, get your a** to practice, go after some QB’s….
So according to 247 OU had the #15 recruiting class, with the additions of the Juco wr and Lampkin I wonder where OU would be now. Also with all the guys who left Texas this offseason I wonder where they’d really be (they were 9th)
We be fast and they be slow. 🙂
That’s why we’re sooner?
yeah. interesting. I would like to see recruiting services do class rankings based on the student athletes contribution the following year.
Yeah, but they never do that. They never pay attention to how a team fits together, or who sticks around after signing day. A team that has solid 3 to 5 stars throughout their class, with balance between offense and defense and line and skill players, will have a lower rating than a team that takes a lot of no line players, but gets mostly 4 and 5 stars for skill players.
I’ve visited Coach Tiff’s twitter page before, she is a h00t.

Who is the little guy in the long sleeve white shirt?
Naje Bissoon
cool, thanks. Never heard of him.
Walk-On I believe sir. If my memory serves me correct. Who is the guy right behind him though dang, and is that Shepard to his right?
Shep with the baseballs. Looks like Campbell behind Bissoon
Watched Shep his Junior year in HS, even with him being teammates with Sanders Jr. I felt he wad the best player on the field, especially that night though they lost.
Walkon safety. Played in the spring game.
Tapper is gettin faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaatttttt…..
Is Gundy in a dunk tank? And if so, how did the QBs do?
Dunk tank, food trucks, food and snow cones.
Qbs made coach wet.
Sounds like some up-and-down play by the QBs. One day they look lik Aaron Rodgers, the next day they look like Mr. Rogers. But I will choose to BELIEVE!
I think Lincoln Riley will recant his “one quarterback” statement. He has an all-star backfield AND receiving corps, with the best coaching in the world. The offensive line is much more than adequate as has been advertised, and the defense will astonish everyone this season. Riley should hang half a hundred before halftime in pretty much every game, with the possible exceptions of BU and TCU. All three QBs will play in every game. IMHO.
Sounds like some up-and-down play by the QBs. One day they look lik Aaron Rodgers, the next day they look like Mr. Rogers. But I will choose to BELIEVE!
Still waiting on seeing my man Rodgers (I’m a huge Packers fan) wear some Sooner gear. He is dating a former Sooner great Miss Lisa Munn!
I caught a Packers practice last week. Rodgers is razor sharp!
I was really hoping we’d sign Gresham, Ted Thompson took a long hard look at him.
LOL think he is a CAL guy, and no hate there it could be USC, but, I wouldn’t be mad by any means if he rocked the Crimson and Cream
Date of birth: December 2, 1983 (age 31)
Place of birth: Chico, California
Height:6 ft 2 in Weight: 225 lb
High school: Chico (CA) Pleasant Valley
College: California
Bro I know and think we all know who Rodgers is, and he played for Cal, just making a statement I wouldn’t be mad if he rocked the OU gear. But way to wiki his info.
Friends don’t let friends live in Chico.
does he like long walks on the beach or would he rather stay in with a good book?
He prefers to read a book while lounging on the beach. 😉
Oh yea, I knew he was a Cal guy but I also know how good Olivia Munn looks….so…he can be influenced.
I had no idea his squeeze was an OU grad. Score another for the Sooners!
Will Lampkin redshirt or is it anyone’s guess?
Might as well. He missed all of fall camp.
He doesn’t have to. But he’s missed all of fall camp and probably at least a week’s worth of practice after that. I don’t think anyone believes he is just that good that he can play. The only reason he would play would be if we started getting short of bodies.
Maybe he will be held out to make his debut at the Texas State Fair in October. But that’s not Stoop’s style.
Only in the universe where Kansas wins the B-12 and Spock has a beard.
Yeah, I’d guess even if he were all world, he’d need some strength and conditioning work. And typically most of that work has already been put in by the other guys. Be better off RSing.
Getting him now rather than January is a plus, and he should be really comfortable and motivated for 12 months from now, like what’s his name, the new RB to help Perine.
KU played in the Orange bowl a few years back and Leonard Nimoy actually rocked a beard so close enough :-O
LOL!
KU has won the B12 like 10 years in a row
football?
hoops of course
Well played Sir, but let’s stick to Football!
think if he played in that game he’d really have to watch out for his knees
Getting into “football shape”, catching up to “college speed”, and learning how to make Smitty smile, might take a year now.
probably orange shirt to try and stick to it to UT
OK K, Jordan Brandon, or any of the main faces on here. Back to recruiting really fast, outside of, Whaley, Bledsoe, and C. Kelly, Claeb Kelly, Kelly, Kelly Kelly, who are some kids to keep an eye on, and with us at 10 we looking at 17,18, or 19 kids this year, thanks in advance guys and gals. BOOMER!!!
An alumni said Lampkin reminded him of Dewey Selmon from the 70s’. I said, “You mean Lee Roy?” He said, “No, I was ‘kinda’ with a scout who went to Eufaula to watch all three of them, and he reminds me of Dewey.” He was talking over my head already so I said, “Oh”.
That is quite a complement to be referred in the same sentence as any of the three. Not many people get compared to hall of famers.
That’s what I came away with. I thought, “I guess he’s pretty good”. But I know high school success doesn’t always translate into college success. I assumed he was talking about body mechanics or something like that. I thought they only had run-defenses back then, like 5-2, or something. So I’m not a guru.
Dewey was about 6’1″ and 250 as I remember, very fast, for a big LB and tough as nails. I don’t know if any HS player could easily fill his shoes. Dewey and his bros were absolutely awesome.
AA Defensive End, not LB
DE at OU, MLB in the NFL. In those days, a very big MLB. Dewey also eventually earned a Ph.D. in Philosophy. We all talk about Lee Roy, but Dewey wasn’t a chopped liver sort of AA either.

My favorite back in the day was Lucious. The battles he had as NT with the Nebraska center were epic.
All three Dewey, Lucious, and Lee Roy where some bad dudes I was born in 80 but, seen enough film and old game to know that was about as “BAD” as 3 brothers could be and as talented, not knocking the Gronk brothers now, they are all pretty impressive to just the Offensive side.
Thank God for Mrs. Selmon

Charley doesn’t look very good in this no matter how you slice it.
Very true Bob
slice it … I see what you did there
Oops, messed that up. I saw the Chucky Cheese comment above and thought you were referring to that.
Boom!!
Am i wrong or was Lampkin there only dline commit this year Jordan?Anyone
Overton and Gallimore.
Campbell and Roberts at DE.
Cam i ment the only dline commit for the whorns
Only DT, think they have a couple of DEs
Thanks thought so
http://texas.247sports.com/Season/2015-Football/Commits
we also had Overton, Gallimore, Cambell, Mann and Roberts
only DT for UT
Guess the whorns depth just got worse
Yep, another year without DTs and they will be in really bad shape
Yes, he was their only DT commit. They had a couple DE’s, but he was their only DT.
only DT commit, as was said below
Thanks
UT buddy of mine just advised lampkin is enrolled.
Confirm/deny?
Edit: nevermind, i hadnt refreshed the page. Confirmed!
Does Lampkin have to sit out a year?
no
He doesn’t HAVE to, because he was denied by texsa, so his LOI is void.
No. He was never admitted so his NLI became invalid. So not a transfer.
No but a redshirt is likely in order
As long as he stayed in football shape and picks up the play book he will slide in and provide dept at the 3 tech
I don’t see any chance he plays, unless we suffer a major injury (or two) on the dline this year.
Redshirting will also help spread this class out some, since it’s so large.

I’m kind of surprised he hasn’t updated his twitter since the move
Hope Lampkin has stayed in some kind of shape since he is way behind. Might be looking at redshirt. There aren’t exactly scrubs in front of him.
Is he really majoring in Spanish?
????
Nada. I feel for him somewhat because when I attended OU in the mid 70’s they had a language requirement as well, and I struggled mightily with Spanish 1. The next semester, with Spanish 2, they were asking us to ask write short stories within a couple of weeks after starting. OMG! The Immersion technique might have helped but at my dorm we were only learning how to drink for free by attending the free Budweiser giveaways they had going in tents on campus! I barely survived that class.
Boom (-:
Is anyone keeping track, adding all of the late recruits, I would guess the 2015 class is probably a top ten class when all is said and done, or using Stoops speak “at the end of the day”.
No one really keeps track of those things. If they did, there would be a lot of shake up in the ranks. Lots of players don’t end up at the schools they sign with. A common one is a player signs but then is not eligible and goes JUCO. In fact, some schools seem to sign those kinds of players just so they can get their ratings up.
I think it would be interesting Bob to find out what really happens to all of the grey shirts, like at bama, where they end up, and how many players really get screwed up by the grey shirt. All that said, I think we wound up with a really good class.
Some schools just seem to cut them loose. I know sometimes Bama labels them as unable to play medically and gives them a scholly. The just can’t play after that so they often transfer.
Man, even with the news coming out of camp, so many sooner fans are still doubting the defense is going to turn around this year…C&C machine is doubting the secondary big
time…
but they have reason to by looking at the results that count. I don’t disagree with the optimism but I’m not going to bash the doubters either. hopefully things got corrected under Coach Cooks.
I have no problem with doubters as long as they don’t say an eighteen year old kid will never get any better. Being cautious or even pessimistic at this point is reasonable. Thinking that is all a kid will ever do is unreasonable.
Exactly. And by all accounts some of those 18 year olds from last year are, in fact, coming around and are impressive. If they’re not, I would be the first one to call for sitting them on the bench. But you’re also right to point out that the defense was horrendous at times and in fact was flat out embarrassing in a few games. If they had been trying hard regardless of the score then it is one thing. But some looked like they gave up at times, and THAT is pretty much inexcusable. I don’t think we will see that this year and we do have a chance to surprise people and with enough talent to make a big jump if they play together as a team and have leaders pushing and helping.
It seems to me OU always has “enough” talent to be in the nation’s top five every year, but its the other ‘stuff’ that disrupts a championship run and messes up the season; (1) rumors that a coach or player is leaving, (2) personality clashes, (3) no team work/unity, (4) grades, (5) legal problems, (6) ego, (7) deaths in family, (8) homesick, (9) injuries, (10) alcohol/drugs/girls/guns. They have motivated coaching this year at every position, a new offensive system, a defensive system they are comfortable with and superstar play-makers even 2-deep. So you see, I feel optimistic.
I’m optimistic. I think we are going to be better than what most people think. But I can see the reasons why people would be pessimistic and I can certainly see why someone would have a wait and see attitude.
there’s talk every yr at this time……..many fans want to see it play out for real
Yep. We could be significantly better in the secondary and still not be good.
Well we could move up 50 places in pass defense and not be in the top half.
Can OU stop the 1,000 lb Baylor TE?
not even with 22 guys on defense. Mike Stoops is that bad
/s
Yeah it seems everyone has forgotten who wanted him first, after his stint at Arizona. Mike was Urban Meyer’s first choice at Ohio State. He easily could have coached in that NCG last year.
wow – was not aware – interesting and good for Mike
Give everyone a Krispy Kreme and have them drop it right before the play starts. Take him right out of the play.
ROFL!
Better throw a few cake donuts down as well. Can’t take any chances.

YESSIR!! Welcome Mr. Lampkin
The Big 12 felt a tremor in the Force Field!
So 2015 D-line class stands as
Neville Gallimore (DT)
Marquis Overton (DT)
Du’Vonta Lampkin (DT)
Kenneth Mann (DE)
Gabriel Campbell (DE)
Austin Roberts (DE)
Thanks Monty
Amen to that!
You betcha. That’s a good group of guys, and maybe a few great ones as well.
Best Dline class on paper since when? That is a ton of potential right there.
Since 2001? Tommie Harris, Dusty Dvoracek, and Jonathan Jackson?
Plus our best secondary class ever, and 2 stud LB’s. Not too shabby.
Holy cats that is impressive!
Meanwhile in Texas….crickets
Lampkins Senior Hudl video is one of the most impressive highlight video’s I’ve ever seen. He’s a man.
Can someone translate Twitter please? Is @DeeChillin Lampkin? Is so, why would he be having a convo with Jerry Montgomery?
Friends
Yes, that’s Lampkin, and they’re having a conversation because Monty recruited Lampkin and they developed a relationship.
Shouldn’t Monty have a GB twitter by now?
I was thinking that too, but you see the guy tweeting Kerry Cooks, Cale Gundy still, he has a love for OU imo. I wouldn’t be surprised if, somewhere down the road, he circles back to Norman.
I had an odd thought about that a couple of months ago. Is it possible that Monty took the GB job to gain a better perspective on running a pro-style defense in anticipation of taking over for Mike Stoops after this season or next? That sounds very tin-foil-hat but it would be cool.
LT poster……”Interesting reading the Texsa boards. Somehow Lampkin went from being a “beast” to being a “fatass”.”
“Lampkin says “Muy beuno” and “adios” to Texas. “
So does this mean he is eligible, or just a student? Did Texas release him from his scholly? I just have a feeling the saga isn’t over.
He hasn’t been released according to their boards and isn’t allowed to play for another school on scholarship.
Then he was admitted to UT, because if they don’t admit him its like he never signed a letter. My guess is their boards don’t know what they are talking about.
This^^^^^^^
Not sure how admittance relates to schollys to be honest. No idea how that works.
http://www.nationalletter.org/nliProvisions/nullAndVoid.html
b. Eligibility Requirements. This NLI shall be declared null and void if, by the opening day of classes in fall 2015, I have not met NCAA initial eligibility requirements; NCAA, conference or institution’s requirements for athletics financial aid; or two-year college transfer requirements, provided I have submitted all necessary documents for eligibility determination.
Good info. But what about a scholly? Even if his NLI is void, he was awarded a scholly.
The NLI requires him to go to a specific school. If its void he can go wherever he wants, and they can give him a scholly within scholarship limits. I don’t know where we stand regarding that, he may not get one until another one frees up.
If he’s not admitted to Texas, he doesn’t really have a scholarship there.
Ding, ding, ding we have a winner.
Now, Texas could go the route of claiming failure of notice, failure on lampkins part to file paperwork etc, but one gets the impression they’ll let it go at this point having cost him the year (red shirt).
At worst he has to dick around getting his paperwork straight and loses the fall academic semester as well.
Woops wrong paragraph.
http://www.nationalletter.org/nliProvisions/nullAndVoid.html
a. Admissions Requirement. This NLI shall be declared null and void if the institution named in this document notifies me in writing that I have been denied admission or, by the opening day of classes in fall 2015, has failed to provide me with written notice of admission, provided I have submitted a complete admission application. It is my obligation to provide, by request, my academic records and an application for admission to the signing institution. If I fail to submit the necessary academic credentials and/or application to determine an admission decision prior to September 1, the NLI office per its review with the institution will determine the status of the NLI.
If I am eligible for admission, but the institution named in this document defers my admission to a subsequent term, the NLI will be declared null and void; however, this NLI remains binding if I defer my admission.
Ding ding ding!
That information is not correct. Clearly he’s been released. He’s admitted to OU.
Not to fuss over it, but just to clarify. He doesn’t have to be released. If they don’t admit him, his NLI becomes invalid. The point being is that a release requires Texas or NCAA to do something. In this case, he was not notified by opening day of classes (today) that he was admitted. So the NLI becomes void.
Thanks Bob. Just want you to know that I’m tracking – I think you’ve only had to explain it a bazillion times. 🙂
Yeah, I don’t know much about football, but I have spent a lot of my career doing government contracting. I know how to read mindless documents.
I do a considerable amount of contract work in my job as well. They like to use a lot of fancy words in them docs.
Dere’s a reezn dey utlize doze fanci wordings w’in dem kontracks, yu know?
how are you at insurance
UT fans are hoping against hope that he loses a year of eligibility over this
They have no choice. If they don’t admit him his NLI is void. He is free to do what he wants at that point. No restrictions.
I guess I’ll believe it when I see him trot out on the field (most likely in 2016).
I won’t disagree with that. Just discussing what the rules are not how long the drama will continue.
They CANNOT stop him from enrolling at OU, obviously, since he is already enrolled.
All the NLI does is not let us put him on scholarship until its dealt with.
Hence my “trot out on the field” comment.
Yes, he’s an eligible freshman – just obviously has missed all of practice due to the red tape. This, as previously mentioned by TFB, most assuredly makes him a red shirt.
Thanks, but I’ll wait for the NCAA to clear him or for OU to announce he’s clear. NCAA rules are too cloudy for the average fan to interpret.
So I guess you just wanted to answer your own question?
Actually was hoping someone had confirmation from OU or the NCAA, but thanks for being a dick today.
No need for that language here.
Was actually hoping someone had confirmation from OU or NCAA, but thanks for being a dick today.
Reading comprehension?
LOL Internet fight! Push him again! You going to let him talk to you like that. 🙁
I would have totally won too if TFB wouldn’t delete my comments!

That’s great news. Imagine how relieved the kid must feel!

He should feel fortunate that he got out of there. The house that Charlie Strong built is falling apart. If only his code of conduct included recruiting techniques: “Credits shmedits, Du’Vonta, you’ll be fine. Just come to Austin and sign-in. No biggie.”
Funny post from LT:
“Look at the bright side – he’ll get to see what it feels like to have his $#@! pushed in every October in Dallas.”

I don’t normally comment, but I thought some of the fans of this page may or may not appreciate the following:
Tag Spikes hmm, did anybody notice that the o-line was makeshift (several starters out), the starting RB’s played sparingly, and the majority of the WR’s weren’t the projected starters, either??? nice story…too bad it wasn’t provided any relevant context…but, hey, whatever fills out an article, right?

Tag Spikes btw, y’all keep spouting that nonsense, too…need I remind you that that other site wasn’t even up and running @ the time??? tsk, tsk…
The saga continues:
Crimson And Cream Machine No crying at all here. Just stating the fact that I wouldn’t put any stock at all into a report from a group that went all in on Saban to Texas and Baker Mayfield having a torn rotor. There’s no credibility there so, I’ll be sticking with the information I get from trusted sources.
Like · Reply · 3 mins
Tag Spikes sounds like crying…again, that page wasn’t even up and running when UT was after a HC, so your “trusted sources” are letting you down there…further, “shoulder soreness” is a far cry from “torn rotator cuff”…you stick to yours, I’ll stick to mine…
now, back to the topic of this story – their sources are right…and, you’re feeling the load of an eggy face right now…it’s okay…it happens…but, now that you know better, do better.
What’s a torn rotor? Did Baker’s breaks go out?
dude from C’n’C was so mad he was struggling w/ his comments…notice how he continues to bash TFB for some made up comment about Satan, I mean Saban…
CnC Machine isn’t as bad as Bleacher Report, I’ll give them that.
that’s not much of a compliment…most of Bleacher Report’s contributors are volunteers…this particular article was one spent bashing OU’s offense because of the “bad scrimmage”…
http://www.crimsonandcreammachine.com/2015/8/20/9184161/oklahoma-sooners-football-practice-notes-offense-was-sloppy-in-second-knight-mayfield
I don’t think CnC has paid writers, either.
And yeah, I’m aware that I’m giving them a backhanded compliment. I actively loathe BR. CnC, I’m indifferent to. I used to read them regularly until Jordan moved on from them to here, and the quality of posts and comments are so much better here, it’s not even funny.
CnC’s podcasts are dreadful. Couldn’t make it through even one.
TFB did predict saban to UT, thats how i found this site. It was one of their very 1st posts.
At least if im remembering correctly.
https://thefootballbrainiacs.com/nick-saban-to-texas-appears-to-be-a-done-deal
Yep, thats what i thought i remembered. Thanks for the lookup.
Yeah that’s where I first heard about them. To be fair to them, I have read a number of articles that suggest they may have been right. Basically, Saban had agreed but Texas screwed it up at the last minute.
Ya it wasn’t a dig, just making sure the correct info was out there. UT screwed up? Shocker lol
Wasn’t there an SI, or maybe even ESecPN, article recently linked to in the Sooner News Daily confirming this? I seem to remember that, though I’m far too laz…busy at work to go digging it up right now.
I’ve read several. Don’t remember if I saw any linked here.
I remember that too, however, my memory was that it was given as an opinion, not a fact. I’ve noticed also the opinions on TFB have been given much more cautiously since the Saban thing. I also used to read C and C before, not so much now, because of the mess with Jordan, when C and C booted him. I kinda dropped them then. I remember all the ugly that went on those few days.
That’s about when I moved
I like how they will only post stuff they can vet on the main site, and have a sub section for rumors they cant vet. Thats just solid and responsible reporting there.
So glad i found TFB, never read any of the pay sites.
They did actually get some bad info on the Saban deal. They were up and running. But that’s about the only thing they’ve missed on. Everything else is pretty much spot on…..and very much free
I still can’t help but think that the Saban deal was very close to being a real thing until something behind the scenes (read Steve Patterson’s fat mouth) unraveled it all. I won’t fault TFB for Patterson being an idiot. Plus, they owned it and probably shouldn’t have. They probably knew all about why the deal fell through but decided against telling everyone because TFB has class. That’s something CnC will probably never find again.
Exactly. Hope it didn’t come across as me trying to smear em. These guys do yeomans work for crickets and love every minute of it. If someone deserves blame, I agree, it ain’t these fellas
Oh, I didn’t mean to imply that you were! I re-read and can see how you would take it that way…my bad…didn’t mean it that way at all.
No worries. Same here. I reread mine and didn’t wanna look a gift horse in the mouth
and, some more:
Crimson And Cream Machine LOL!!! The only sources they have that are right are the ones they steal from pay content. I’m giving you the opportunity to prove it by posting a link from somewhere else that says the same thing. Otherwise, Saban is still at Bama and Mayfield’s rotator was never torn.
Like · Reply · 4 mins
Tag Spikes even better, I’ll give you the opportunity, as a paid source, to verify their info…otherwise, you should let it go…you’re embarrassing yourself @ this point…it’s definitely laughable, but not like you think…
Here is where the brainiacs predicted Saban to Texas:
https://thefootballbrainiacs.com/nick-saban-to-texas-appears-to-be-a-done-deal
Oops
Yep, we (and I say we even though I wasn’t a part of this site at the time) were wrong on Saban. K came out and owned that….two years ago. But if that’s your (and by ‘your’ I mean their) one bullet then I guess you gotta fire it, right?.
What’s funny is the agenda becomes so transparently clear with the pathetic accusation of TFB reporting Mayfield had a torn rotator cuff. When, in reality, that was never report, nor ever implied. But again, why let something silly like facts get in the way.
And I can’t even begin to tell you how much enjoyment I get from them desperately clinging to this belief that all we do here is steal content from pay sites.
The idea that after two or so years, conveniently choosing to ignore the plethora of things TFB was either right about and/or broke before anybody else, but yeah, we just steal pay content and post it here for free.
What you see in those responses is someone who used to run an OU website people actually cared to read, however, that is no longer the case. As is evidenced by the 500+ and counting comments we have i in this single weekend OP, whereas I’m guessing you’d probably have to add up six months or more worth of posts on their site to equal that same number of comments.
And I say I’m guessing b/c I quit reading that site when I left, just like everybody else did.
Yeah, I was wrong, very, very wrong about the Saban deal…and, technically, they were also right about Mayfield’s injury claim, if we are to believe OU’s PR department (although, as you state, it was never quite as cut and dry as they want it to seem)…nonetheless, I stand by TFB, because, as your post (I seem to remember reading that post, or something very, very similar, in the comments section of another post, now…where does the mind go as one ages???) says, TFB has been absolutely tearing it up when making prognostications…Further, the site is tearing it up in general…No other site gives player/team input, put together by former players, better than TFB…For that, I am incredibly grateful…And, the price for this intel is absolutely, positively the best deal in town…The recruiting info, alone, is tops…I should know…I’m kicking butt and takin’ names in a recruiting contest we hold on a social site’s conference board, and it’s all, every bit of it, due to TFB’s intel…
By the by, when I first saw you were a contributor for TFB, the name rang a bell…But, I was only able to place it a couple of weeks ago…So, I say this as an avid TFB fan, and as somebody that’s had it w/ the pay sites and NewsOK, give ’em hell!!!
OU’s Twitter account said Mayfield had “shoulder fatigue.” They never said the cause of said “fatigue.” To this day no one, be it OU, other media, or anyone has offered comment or evidence it wasn’t related to his rotator cuff (which, again we never reported or even implied was torn).
In fact, not a single person, including those who make a living covering the team on a daily basis, was even aware Mayfield had a shoulder issue at all until we reported as such.
Nevertheless, we appreciate the kind words AND you being a loyal TFB reader!
And, to pile on, I was blown away by the continuation of the conversation on their part…I’m not one to usually go after C’n’C, because, as you so eloquently put it, their site has been on a downward trajectory for a while now, and I don’t usually put much stock into it…In fact, I only felt compelled to comment, because I was annoyed w/ the insinuation that the offense lacks any real consistency, when the scrimmage had already been put into relevant context by TFB…
And, once they (C’n’C) started to respond in almost comical fashion, I couldn’t help but clip it and bring the comments over here for perusal…Again, I’m not an avid poster, but I am an avid reader, so just know that I am circling overhead reading every snippet y’all put out there…Boomer!
“circling overhead reading every snippet”
love it
It’s called being bitter. Not a good look 🙂
I went and looked. Appears they are well under 30 comments per week. Advertising money must be a shared package deal through SBN because there would be no incentive for anyone to advertise on the site alone.
It is, kind of, but even then it’s peanuts, believe me. That doesn’t apply across the board mind you, but there are only a handful of the college sites pulling in any kind of actual $$$ and I can assure you CCM isn’t one of them. Either now or back in my day.
I followed you here, and saying that I’m glad I did would be a gross understatement. That site has bottomed out in the past two years, and with the comments posted above, I couldn’t be happier that it did. I honestly hate to say it because I used to be such a big fan, but they just can’t compete with TFB in the slightest way and being classless towards TFB (or any other site) just shows the lack of professionalism anyway.
Appreciate the kind words, more than you know. Even with how unprofessional things were in my parting from CCM, I have always tried to avoid an ‘us or them’ type of pettiness.
I would never begrudge anyone from getting OU info from wherever they’d prefer. I check a lot of sites, mainly b/c I have a problem, haha.
But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t know that’s what that place would turn into when I left. I said it at the time, after I left no one there was willing to dedicate the time necessary to make that place what it could have (and IMO was on the way to being) become. And I think the results vindicate those feelings on my part.
CCM of all people accuses TFB of ripping content from other sites??? Now that’s about as rich as it gets. Oh the stories I could tell and screen shots I could post.
It always makes me laugh. This was a popular theory back when TFB first started, but after two or so years you would think one might let it go considering how incredibly stupid it makes them look by continuing to perpetuate this myth. But hey, to each their own I guess 🙂
I don’t normally comment either, but when I do I drink Dos Equis.

You didn’t call me. Are you still wanting to watch the game?
Yes! And from the world’s most interesting man.
Thanks, saved that for the second week in October. Living here 30 miles from enemy territory I need all of the ammo I can get!
So assuming Lampkin gets a scholly, does anyone know how many that puts us at? I ask because I was wondering if that might explain some of the Dalton Wood saga. “Hey dude, nice of you to show up. We hadn’t heard from you so we promised your scholly to this Lampkin dude.”
I was thinking we had one or two left after attrition. Nothing solid. Just my bad memory.
I know we are close. Didn’t know if Wood was being counted as part of the attrition. If so, that could be part of what was going on. He showed up and, since he had not communicated with the coaching staff, they gave away his scholly.
Woods issue is just odd.
Well it’s just like everything else, if you know all the facts it makes sense. Problem is we never know all the facts.
True.
TBDR is one with the scholly
Shhh, holding on to it for DTG.
LMAO
I thought we had 4, before we gave one to hodgson. Didnt we give the punter one as well?
I was thinking after lampkin, we had 1.
I knew we were in the range. Wasn’t sure if we maybe gave one to the new JUCO WR or someone else.
If memory serves me, the new WR can play into a scholly by spring, so that one should still be open. I think he came as a preferred walk on.
I think that is what I heard, which suggests they may have them all allocated.
Baxter is hoping to get one next semester, but dosent have one as of yet
I read somewhere the limit being approached is the amount of players, including walkons …. 105?
Hmm, from what I am finding the 105 is a preseason practice limit. However, there is no limit for roster size during the season. That could explain him being on campus as some have suggested, but not practicing. Will be interesting to see if he “appears” once that limit is no longer in place. That could also explain OU’s response. Trying to make sure no one classified him as being on the roster.
115 is the final roster size for the regular season, starting the first day of classes, I believe.
What I have read, is that 115 is the size during the offseason. During the season there are no limits. Here is one example:
http://www.ask.com/sports-active-lifestyle/many-players-college-football-team-df4ac1a80d13e08e
That’s very interesting. I didn’t know that. I believe the official roster has 115 on it. 81 scholly and 34 walkons.
And OU may run it in such a way that they keep it at 115 so they don’t have people there during the season then have to kick them off outside of the season. Don’t know, just find the whole thing interesting.
Lampkin and Roberts put OU at 83 scholarships for the fall semester. That’s NOT counting Wood.

If I am eligible for admission, but the institution named in this document defers my admission to a subsequent term, the NLI will be declared null and void; however, this NLI remains binding if I defer my admission.
(1) This NLI shall be rendered null and void if I become a nonqualifier per the NCAA Eligibility Center. This NLI remains valid if I am a partial qualifier per NCAA Division II rules unless I do not meet the institution’s policies for receipt of athletics aid.
(2) It is my obligation to register with and provide information to the NCAA Eligibility Center. If I fail to submit the necessary documentation for an initial-eligibility decision and have not attended classes at the signing institution, the NLI office per its review with the institution will determine the status of the NLI.
(3) This NLI shall be rendered null and void if I am a midyear football two-year college transfer and I fail to graduate from two-year college at midyear, if required per NCAA, conference or institutional rules. The NLI remains binding for the following fall term if I graduated, was eligible for admission and financial aid and met the two-year college transfer requirements for competition for the winter or spring term, but chose to delay my admission.
c. One-Year Absence. This NLI shall be declared null and void if I have not attended any institution (two-year or four-year) for at least one academic year, provided my request for athletics financial aid for a subsequent fall term is denied by the signing institution. Service in active duty with the U.S. armed forces or an official church mission for at least 12 months can use the One-Year Absence to null and void the NLI. I may still apply this provision if I initially enrolled in an NLI member institution but have been absent for at least one academic year. To apply this provision, I must file with the appropriate conference office a statement from the director of athletics that such athletics financial aid will not be available for the requested fall term.
d. Discontinued Sport This NLI shall be declared null and void if the institution named in the document discontinues my sport.
e. Recruiting Rules Violation. If eligibility reinstatement by the NCAA student-athlete reinstatement staff is necessary due to NCAA and/or conference recruiting rules violations, the institution must notify me that I have an option to have the NLI declared null and void due to the rules violation. It is my decision to have the NLI remain valid or to have the NLI declared null and void, permitting me to be recruited and not be subject to NLI penalties.

Which one does he fall under?
Paragraph a)
Thanks. That was my first thought, but then the eligibility parts through me off.
Down below, I actually posted that part and then corrected myself to a). From what I have heard, Lampkin was eligible according to everyone but UT. They have a language requirement that he didn’t meet. He was supposed to finish that up this summer. He wasn’t able to complete that (or some would say didn’t want to) and so was ineligible.
Bob is correct.
I just had an odd thought: does anyone here personally know any UT grad who actually speaks a language other than English? And here I mean a native born American and not an international student who had to learn English to get admitted in the first place. I’ve worked with a number of horns over the years and can’t remember a single one who could so much as stumble around in anything other than tejas engles.
Strange. You’d think their academic reqs would have had more impact than that. Still, I shouldn’t fault aspiring and dreaming.
You would think that of a Texsa grad wouldn’t you.
what is a texas grad?
a.) A hippie
b.) Someone with no self respect.
c.) Someone who drives a Lincoln.
I hate hippies.
The respect I show others refutes that.
I hate that Lincoln driving sob and I hate his home town.
Notice I said “someone” and chose not to say “everyone”. 🙂
Now I do. 🙂
texsa grad.

I worked with and know a bunch that talk jibberish.
Welcome to Sooner nation, Mr. Lampkin.
Hope the trials and tribulations you are experiencing become motivating factors.

‘Officially admitted at Oklahoma University’. Like the sound of that. He can pack up all of his baby diaper surprise colored stuff and put on THE crimson and cream!!

BANHAMMER
LOL, Jed!
No “prescriptoin” needed? Sure. I can trust people who can’t even spell a simple word correctly to give me what they say. Doesn’t everyone?
might be warmer than usual in waco this weekend………..

This may be fun to watch.
sr………were you the poster that watched the reality series ‘alone’ on the hist channel?
That was me. Good show. Anticlimactic ending. Not enough extras. They had a couple of extras shows but they were brutal
I think it was someone else, but that’s ok. I watched the last episode last nite and was pleased that guy from ga won it. He was low key but quite intelligent and resourceful, as were several others……also, hilarious at times. I think his humor got him thru some rough patches. However, it appeared that some had close encounters with the resident predators and others didn’t. Anyway, it was an interesting series.
Yeah it was cool. The cop, the 1st to go, was unlucky getting dropped less than a click from a bear den. Sucks they even made him stay the night. The guy from GA was awesome. My wife and I both hoped he’d win. The one dude cried all the time and the tree hugger with he dreads reminded me of Dale. Hope they do another. 500k is a nice chunk of change for a month and a half of work
On a similar note, have you ever watched ‘naked and afraid’
No. Any good?
on discovery channel…….they have reruns during the week and think the new a/o continuing episodes are on sun nite……..no money involved, just can they take it…….you might find it interesting……..
Cool. Thank you brother
He got 180 days plus 10 years probation?
Unbelievable.
This was forcible rape evidently. Hard to imagine such a light sentence as far as incarceration. The 10 years probation and requirement to register as a sex offender are the norm I believe.
All the other stuff, probation/comm svc/registration…fine.
But 6 months in county?
Where does the young lady go to get her innocence back?
Let me just add I will make it a point to throw as much trash as I can on I-35 whenever I drive through Wacko, Tx, just for him to clean up.
I’ve read the jury recommended the entire sentence behind bars and the Baylor Alum judge made the call for lighter punishment. I have no facts to state this as fact, just doing some reading.
I wonder if Briles will welcome him back in 6 months. Still has eligibility.
LOL!
Kind of like the sooners welcomed back Mixon, DGB, and Shannon?
Hey Baylor fan. Go troll your own board
Did he really just compare 3 players who were never convicted or sentenced to any time by a court of law to a convicted rapist? Worst troll in the world.
Yes he did.
Probably one of those goof ball freshmen that run on the field.
LOL
He has a right to defend his school. If he is an alum, wouldn’t you do the same. Just saying before you call him a troll shouldn’t we have an adult convo.
oh my goodness. really. do we have to have our feelings hurt ALL the time?
No. What I’m saying is shouldn’t we be better than that. Just calling him a troll as soon as he posts something defending Baylor?
its an oklahoma message board. and my opinion. every single post the clown made has been deleted. who gives a rats red ass what someone on a different schools board says? i didn’t realize i had to attach disclaimers to my posts
Sorry, I guess I just like being civil until someone proves to be an a$$ before I act like one. There is some good people who are fans of other schools. And you shouldn’t act like a martyr.
so i’m a martyr and an ass? cool. i’ll take it. do i give a damn what someone on a message board thinks about me? negative. do i give any more damns what a baylor fan thinks about me and what he might infer about other OU fans because i called him a troll prematurely or not? bigger negative. what’s your address? i’ll be sure to send you an apology with the christmas card
It’s all cool brother, the dude wasn’t here to be civil because he threw DGB, Mixon, and Frank in our face. That’s an attack move and likely why his comments were deleted.
But he wasn’t just defending Baylor. He accused another school’s coach of being a liar and tried to compare some of our guys to the Baylor guy. He was a troll. And he’s been deleted.
troll. deleted. thank you. much nicer way of putting it but i don’t like questions going unanswered 🙂
Now wait a minute. The cub troll got deleted but not that obnoxious drug spam down below?
haha. they’re just waiting in case some feelings get hurt and need “prescriptoins” and if not they’ll shut her down
Feelings? FEELINGS?!!?
Not again.

Here we go again…
c’mon. its not my fault people start catching feelings
But you keep using that word…
http://media2.giphy.com/media/33v890JipTurC/200.gif
man its so difficult because i don’t like “butt hurt”, that one’s freaking tired. as well as “dumpster fire”(tired) and some others i can’t think of at the present moment.
c’mon. its not my fault people keep shedding tears. better?
thebigdroot is a good guy.
It just struck a bad chord for him.
no worries here. you must be some sort of elephant cause i suck at names and whatnot. i don’t remember many here unless they are uber friendly or doucherific
That’s one of the things about me, I don’t forget s*~t and I have hypersensitive hearing. Which is really remarkable considering the well over a million rounds I have fired, many explosions and countless rock concerts. 🙂
How’s the Momma oven? About two weeks, depending on the little one’s schedule, right?
dang. nice memory. not too shabby. she’s about ready to pop. waiting on the little fella is right. any day now. my hearing is ok but i feel like ted williams with the eyesight. i think i could see enemy fighters before they hit the horizon
Told ya’, I don’t forget nuttin’. I don’t wear corrective lenses, either.
What you need to do is cook up some hot tater tots and give Momma a big kiss after each one. Little guy will be eager to get out and join you.
I didn’t know elephants liked tater tots. 🙂
oh yeah. peanuts and tots. that’s what elephants does
And burgers with tots….

whoa nellie. where’s the bacon? only thing it seems to be missing
Just got two packs of bacon out of the freezer to thaw for tomorrow, they would go perfect with that masterpiece.
Got to be in there somewhere.
I flagged that because is was spam…..guess the flags don’t work.
15 yds. unsportsmanlike. still 1st down tho
I’ll wave the flag, too. May need to be like an aircraft carrier signal man.
LOL!
Butt nugget.
Briles was going to do any & everything to make that program the best. He was playing with fire and now it’s blazing out of control. He’s going to get roasted from women’s groups. Talk about bad timing as this is going to be a distraction for them all year.
There are very devout Baptist alums that will not appreciate him lying and besmirching their school. Will they be forgiving if Briles continues to win football games?
Jiffy Pop time.
Just read on CBS Sports that Baylor President Ken Starr has requested a formal inquiry into the circumstances of the case. A BU law professor will lead the inquiry. Once completed, Starr will determine if further action is needed.
that ought to clear it up. the own schools professor is gonna look into it. straight shooter we hope
Uh…now?
Where was this approach about two years ago?
Wow……Thats really big if Briles knew ahead of time which apparently he did. Why would Chris Peterson make that up.
This could get really ugly before its all said and done.
Your facts are wrong, Briles has proof Peterson did not give him all the info and sooner fans been to be thankful DGB didn’t screw up and hope that Shannon doesn’t.
They’re not my facts theyre facts taken from the link above. Go check it out. Apparently Chris Peterson told Briles about this idiot.
Assuming thats correct do you really believe that Peterson would just make that up?
That’s what I don’t get. Why would Peterson lie since he ain’t there no more. You save face while throwing another coach under the bus? Don’t make sense
Baylor just released documented proof from Boise St Compliance that stated the truth just as Briles said. Peterson lied. The sad thing is that so much violence happens with these athletes and all anyone cares about is blaming someone else.
Briles is lying.
Yeah Chris Peterson is really going to lie about this. Are you serious?
Add this into the equation from the kid himself
“The Baylor coaches knew EVERYTHING and were really supportive so I appreciate that,” Ukwuachu said in 2013 after his transfer became official.”
I suppose hes lying as well.
Neither DGB nor Shannon were ever charged with a crime I don’t believe.
neither was the Baylor player while at Boise St. Once he has accused at Baylor, he was released from the team
Now he is convicted and soon to be a registered sex offender.
They have a LOT of questions they should be answering. His original problems in Oregon appear to have been misrepresented and that associate Dean that ruled she didn’t have sufficient evidence didn’t talk with the woman involved or read the police report. That girl should light them up in a civil suit!
I wonder what Drayton McLane has to say about this whiplash, after all the crap he had to deal with after the basketball player’s murder.
Sorry, won’t touch that rag.
/the second one
Okay, so I understand it is Friday…and after 5:00, so some of us might be taking the edge off of the week with a drink or two – But, I think we should still be able to get a “BOOM” from Denzel on this? I am going to wait for it………
Premature. My understanding is he is enrolled as a student but not yet a scholarship player. texsa may not release him from the loi until Monday.
Did we get a Boom! for Lampkin? I think he is Boomworthy.
Yes. He starts class at OU on Monday and will begin practice shortly thereafter. So IMO, a Boom is a safe bet.
Listened to Mead in a post scrimmage interview on soonersports… really impressed with that young man. Judging from the couple times I’ve heard him talk he comes across as intelligent and mature for his age. Definitely going to be pulling hard for this kid to have early success this season.
I agree.
There are many current Sooners that are articulate and bright like Mead, besides being good athletes.
I like this team.
I like Parker and Striker leading the defense and Shep/Knight/Perine/Darlington on the offensive side. Some stand up guys leading this team for sure.
I left out Tapper on my list… shame on me.
Darlington is turning into one of my all time favorites. His graduation speech was priceless
As articulate and bright as the ’66 golden domers? That’s the true measuring stick. Lol.
Golden Domers?
Is that another description for the Fightin’ Frenchies or the Hunchback Leprechauns?
You’ve heard that one before, right? That’s what my Dad always called them.
I’ve used those terms and numerous other…colorful adjectives…to describe them since 1957.
I assumed as much.
Watching the Astros vs Dodgers. Astros have a no hitter going through 8 innings.
great. you jinxed it. way to go 🙂
Yeah, I know.
Go ‘Stros!
No hitter in the books.
awesome shot of nolan looking on
suck it dodgers
We used to get on Tommy Lasorda something fierce at the old Astrodome.
Miss going to a game in the dome. They had the coldest foam in the dome.
I loved that place.
My oldest brother was a freshman QB for the Coogs when the Dome first opened and we went to many UH games during his time there. Went to many, many Astro games there from the 60’s to the 90’s. Those monster HRs the big bopper Glen Davis hit were awesome.
Was there to see my old high school win the 1990 State Championship.
Lots of great memories.
Nice! I grew up going to the dome. Minute Maid Park is really nice, but great memories made at the Astrodome.
I haven’t made it to the juice box, yet. Haven’t been to Htown in many years and it was winter the last time I was there.
Maybe next season you can make a return trip. Remember, OU plays UH at nrg stadium in Sept 2016.
You have an excellent point. Labor Day weekend, at that.
/hmmm
My daughter (OU grad) and I will be there. Neighbors across the street have season tickets to UH and have already invited us to join their tailgate for the game. It will be a good time.
Excellent.
I might even be able to convince my big bruh the ex-Coog(and big Sooner fan, too) to come with.
I have a cousin there with a 7200sq.ft. palace that I haven’t seen, too.
Sounds like you just made plans.
I can dream. So much could happen before then.
/*sigh*
Tommy’s not a bad dude. I got on an elevator in Seoul, Korea years ago and found him already on it. He was on a scouting trip. Invited me to join him for a pop and picked up the tab. Didn’t know crap about sooner football, however.
Excellent.
Baylor president emails ‘Baylor Nation’ in wake of scandal
http://247sports.com/Bolt/Baylor-president-emails-Baylor-Nation-in-wake-of-scandal-38879098
I would love to see some of the email replies he has received.
Nothing will come of this inquiry, but they have to appease the alumni and others by officially looking into this. Once done, they will say they are implementing more stringent guidelines, etc, and then go beat up on the local high school team impersonating as a non-conference opponent. All is well in Wacko, TX.
Exactly. I’m thinking the law prof. drinks with the judge that laid down the harsh punishment.
Knowing how strange that town is, those two they may drink and lay down together.
EYE BURN! EYE BURN! LOL.
What an odd place with so many hypocrites.
An old high school friend went there. I stopped by to see him one weekend, I saw more drugs, alcohol and sex with underage girls in that one weekend than I thought possible anywhere. Needless to say I declined any further visits. BTW, that guy, our class valedictorian, has spent more than half his adult life in federal prison on drug trafficking charges.
i’m southern baptist, but the ol’ joke is how do you keep a mormon or baptist from drinking all your beer on a fishing trip?
Throw’em out of the boat. 🙂
invite another’n
yours works too tho
I grew up Baptist so I can say this….The only place two Baptists don’t know each other is in the liquor store.
My family was a sort of Methodist/Baptist hybrid.
Drinking and dancing were not frowned upon, until Sunday service.
My parents don’t drink but my dad loved his beer batter fish so he always hid a few cans in his closet ( yes I was a snoopy teen) but he would go at least two towns away to buy it so that he wouldn’t run into someone he knew. lol.
Funny.
My dad loved his beer and he didn’t care who knew. Momma was more discreet, when she did drink it was always in doors.
Our town was dry, but there was this little unincorporated area a few miles out of town that all they had was some farms, houses and a couple of “package” stores. My dad and the people that worked there knew each other well.
First I have heard this. Another of Briles’ players was convicted to 20 years for rape in January 2014.
http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/columnists/kevin-sherrington/20150821-sherrington-if-baylor-s-art-briles-is-lying-about-sam-ukwuachu-he-needs-to-go.ece
briles sounds like a fella you can trust… like so…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMSpFkvPOAM
He seems a bit more snake-like, to me.
I wonder what kind of questions the Moms of recruits will have for him?
yes. r lee is a pg13 example of ol’ boy
Ol’Gunny. I watch his tv show Gunnytime. He gets to shoot the best guns in the world and blow up lots of stuff with artillery.
Remember ‘Apocalypse Now?’ In the scene where they are attacking a VC village to go surfing, R. Lee is the helicopter pilot of Duval’s helo.
he is one of my favorites. and he was just a helper on full metal jacket i believe it was and he was so convincing they made him a part. he’s a beauty
I still use that line today…”what is your major malfunction.”
Classic.
What about “there’s only two things that come from texas”? LOL!
Never cared much for that one.
The reason I use that “major malfunction” line is I have a witty come back if someone asks me what my problem is. I say “why, are you a doctor?”
In those rare instances that they say they are a doctor, I grab my crotch and ask them to look at my rash.
I was blessed with 3 daughters before eventually having a son a few years later. One day when my oldest was about 7, without really thinking about what I was saying to whom, jokingly asked her the full quote when she had made some boneheaded error.
Me: What is your major malfunction, numbnuts?
Daughter: umm, dad, I’m a girl. Wouldn’t it be more accurate to ask “what is your major malfunction, no nuts?”
Absolutely incredible movie!
“Charlie don’t surf.”
That phrase, so memorable.
I went to a “Tool” concert back in the 90’s at the old Bronco Bowl here in Dallas. I was standing there in the lobby waiting for my friends when this kid comes walking by wearing a tee shirt with Charlie Manson’s face on the front. Couldn’t believe what I was seeing and observed the kid until he walked by and on the back of the tee shirt it said “Charlie don’t surf.”
I about busted my gut laughing and thought to myself, “no he doesn’t and he never will.”
Briles, to me, seems like a narcissist who can never accept blame and always has a big finger pointed at others for his problems.
yes. i coulda put video of creflo dollar on here but that seemed too easy
I don’t like Briles now, but I am still sympathetic to the horrific heartache he has endured. Lost his folks first, his grandparents and the Aunt that raised him in a car wreck on the way to the Cotton Bowl to see him play, then lost his only brother about a year ago.
Can’t help but think his mind has become warped from all that has happened to him. Mine would.
I sympathize with his tough times in life and would never call him a bad coach, I just think he does a lot of whining and blaming others when he could just step up and face the music. You could be right though about his past affecting his thought process.
One thing could prove Petersen called him, Petersen’s phone records.
Doubt anyone will ask, but it sure looks like Briles is lying to me.
What is even more disturbing is how the entire university worked to hush this all up and make it go away.
Lots of blame to go around, not just Briles’ lies.
They both have said today that the phone call took place, the difference is what was disclosed in that call. Briles and the University, along with statements made by the convicted kid, appear to be on the deceptive side of the argument.
Okay.
Well, I’m out. Flat wore out.
Fletch “probably will stay home and do some Robes”
The Full Metal Jacket drill instructor looks surprising like Joel Olsteen in this clip. 🙂
Hahaha. We’ll done
I can sacrifice winning for the s**t storm that’s about to hit Baylor. With Briles, Strong, and the handsome huckleberry at TT running amok, Stoops is looking better all the time (tongue in cheek). Sometimes there’s a hefty price to pay for winning. Stoops is not willing to pay that price. We should be proud of that.
Bon jour, mon ami.
I agree. He has built something that he, the players and fans can be proud of.
Morning, sir!
When does the official “pump-up” video usually come out??
Last year, after it was shown at the stadium. 🙁
darn.. Somehow this is texsa’s fault.
You must be new here… it’s Kish’s fault. Everything is Kish’s fault. FIRE KISH!!!
You have now been educated on the ways of the board. Please try not to stray from the path of righteousness in the future. 🙂

I’ve been posting like 2 weeks.. Long enough to know better, it’ll never happen again I swear! Ha 🙂
Watching the Spring game again for OL play and QB mechanics. I just don’t understand. On the fourth play of the game, at 6:24, Shep is running free down the middle and Knight rushes the throw off his back foot over shooting him. The Ints are one thing, but missed opportunities are another. Whoever Riley picks cannot leave points on the damn field.
You know OU is in a serious time right now, this could be one of the most critical decisions as far as choosing a QB we have had to make since Bradford. We are a fore gone conclusion in the eyes of college football. I just don’t know what to make of this team, Andrews is down field all by himself, almost scores drags three guys with him you don’t think that’s study material, teams are going to be throwing every down on us, we look like we didn’t learn anything in one year. I’m telling you in the back of my mind I am thinking Mike Stoops is gone after this year, hope I am wrong.
That is laughable. Were you going for dramatic effect with the – “foregone conclusion” – remark? If so, it failed. That is completely ludicrous and 100% false.
Right and where were you last year when you thought we were going to go 12 and 0 and beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl
That is even dumber than your initial post.
Name calling is not what this board is about…it’s about having an opinion..please give the pc back to your mom and go do your homework…see real fans don’t turn on one another..
They dont get personal …. being 12 years old you don’t understand that you just don’t get it….
I never called you a name. Just commented your post was ludicrous. On the other hand, you called me a 12 yr old. So in fact, the accusatory (you) is the only party guilty of name calling. FYI, I am fully aware of board etiquette.
Not saying you are, but when a person who claims to be a fan does nothing but spout off at the mouth about how bad everything and everybody in and around the program are, I’m gonna call him out to his “face”. Just the way it is. If that makes me not “a real fan” then so be it. I will not sit idly by and let some nameless faceless internetter run his mouth about people I have a lot in common with and an enormous amount of respect for
Jrsy, I sort of, kind of, agree. But when you have talent the competition really picks up. The receiver won’t always win and the DB won’t always lose. I don’t think we will need to worry about the secondary this year. The secondary is going to be lock-down good for years to come.
‘foregone’ as in top 15? or as in out of the top 25? the polls don’t seem to know and they are, kind of, a synthesis of ‘the eyes of college football’.
OK OU on paper using Mayfield will go all the way or lose to Baylor in a shoot out…
you cannot deny Mixon…I don’t care if he hasn’t produced a goats fart he’s special. I’ve seen him as a little kid. He’s a damn grown man now bigger faster stronger…Perine is Hers walkers lost embryo dede was cloned from Shep in the off season Andrews is Gresham on steroids…. what’s it all mean basil ? Well most people use paper to smoke something with….. so all we have is past production maybe a couple of spring games
When your dbs are consistently getting beat in practice by a suspect quarterback group There’s cause for concern that’s the reality of this team… so basically we’re foregone conclusion in our own eyes as well as the college football world… I like paper I like Lincoln Riley and I love Bob Stoops my mentor and idol so I am just holding my breath
Jrsy,
Of course no one can say anything for sure until we see performance in games. What we have heard from practice and seen from various players, and coaches, in years past, however, is enough to justify optimism. You’re free to hold your own opinion; mine is that it’s way to early to run around, waving our hands, and shrieking that the sky is falling. And ‘the football world’ doesn’t appear to be doing so.
Jed Thanks for taking it easy on me I wish I could articulate better because that’s not exactly what I mean…. I believe this Oklahoma team to be three players away from greatness cornerback defensive line and linebacker….
I dont know how good our dbs will be but I can pretty much guarantee they’ll be quite improved from last year. Theyre all a year more experienced. Coach Cooks has them communicating better. Jordan Thomas by all we’ve heard is doing way better ( and even if he wasnt he;d be an upgrade from Wilson at cb ) and with a bunch of new and talented freshman up and coming I think that we might actually be pretty decent.
Wow. You dressed it up with so much drama. Do you think Spielberg will make it into a movie?
You want drama?
http://media1.giphy.com/media/NoPaJCDiGdybm/200.gif
Not sure if I’ve mentioned this before, but we are QB-challenged.
Well, I think they’ve probably come a long way under Riley since the 4th play of the spring game. Takes awhile to learn new tricks and maybe more importantly, to unlearn the old.
Computer giving me trouble! Windows 10? If they haven’t then we have all been wrong about Riley. But everyone seems not only impressed but the players seem happier under him so far. And to say he is young and hands on as a coach would be an understatement.
Simplified the system.

Still think it’s going to be CM. I’d love for it to be TK just b/c I admire him so much and I think all three will run this O just fine, but I’ve seen a lot of their plays (going back and rewinding interceptions esp. time and again) in games (CM going back to TT) and I think CM very accurate and is very good in this O.
Cody Mayfield!!?? Might be the best one out there!! Has the height, the arm, and the MOVES.
If only we could combine our qb’s….ahhhh, dreaming.
Chris Matthews?
/NO00OO
Tingles! LOL
whoops. probably meant bm (thinking cody w/cody thomas), but think about it, it’s hedging. cody, mayfield, but want it to be tk. that should do it
Josh Heupel taught Trevor to throw off his back foot. (sarcasm alert)
It’s the new thing all qb’s are doing these days… sort of like the bball move KD does where he does the step back jumper off one foot… (Except it works in Basketball.)
Is Lampkin the player that we all thought wanted to go to OU, but his mother was pulling to stay in Texas?
His Mom wanted him at OU as well- he shied away after the Fraternity racist bus song saga, not to mention Jerry Montgomery leaving.
Oh yes, thats right. I had almost forgotten about the Frat bus.
It was a nothing thing made big by the liberal media trying to push their meme that fraternities, the state of Oklahoma (and football) are evil and bad. It was made far worse by David Boren’s agreeing with them. For a while there I thought he might ban all Greek fraternities and sororities based on a teen guys drunken song. It would have only been fair, don’t you know, when encountering such incredibly widespread and violent racism!
Agree 100%.
Sans the violent part, you essentially just described a sizable portion of OU Greek life. It (wrongly) reflected extraordinarily poorly on the entire university, not just football.
I don’t think that’s correct. That was Delance.
Only one I know of that specifically mentioned the frat brats.
Look at what I found. I’m grilling out today. We need to cook them brats: teach’em a lesson.
I like the beer ones I have for today, too! Haven’t tried the hot and spicy. Just scared I guess!
You have frat brats? LOL!
Wrap some bacon around those bad boys!
More pork, that’s right!
He didn’t specifically mention the frat brats but alluded to the race issue on campus.
Anyone offended by a drunken frat guy’s idiocy isn’t nearly tough enough to play at OU, ANYWAY. It was just an excuse.
Where did he (Delance) end up?
He’s 2016.
For some reason, I thought his mother wanted him at OU. Or was that the guy at UCLA (wariboko?)
It was both mothers who wanted their sons at OU.
ALL mothers want their sons at OU!!!! lol
Mommas don’t let your babies grow up to be Cowboys!
OU is likely to get an official visit from offensive lineman Denzel Okafor.
Source. ..?
I saw it on LandThieves. Sorry, I did not mean to post without the source.
I am so ready to see Joe Mixon play. I believe this kid is going be electrifying. And if Riley’s offense takes off like we all believe, it’s possible that we will have two Heisman candidates in the same backfield. I don’t think that has ever happened before.
Only 14 more days to go…before I get to hear it on the radio.
I saw where the vols just lost another OLman for the season yesterday. So happy we haven’t had any significant injuries so far.
I’m rapping on my head right now.
Edit: as in know on wood, rapping.
Rapping? Okay, then…
http://www.reactiongifs.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/whoop-there-it-is.gif
Ha! Ha!
You mean since we had Jason White and AD in the same backfield?
I think he means two heisman running backs.
And that didn’t work out too well; they split the vote.
It’s obviously been a while, but in ’52 OU’s entire backfield was comprised of All-Americans (Crowder, McPhail, & Vessels) &Vessels won the Heisman that year.
Especially nowadays, if you have two Heisman contenders in the backfield you really have none. Awards don’t matter though, we’re gonna be stacked with those two!
Well not since Army in the 1940’s. Doc Blanchard and Davis. They both won the Heisman.
My uncle was wearing this last weekend. He has not idea what he’s wearing. I can assure you, his focus is the play on words. But the color of the shirt and the mighty resemblance of that damn cow jumped out at me. I’m in Ohio, mind you. If it a tOSU fan gear, it’s Meechigan fan gear.
That being said, this is how tamed the short horns will be when OU handles texsa, again. Need I say more?
Wonder if we’ll get to see Striker, Walker, Tapper, Bond on the line in pass rush situations this season?
SO DOES EVERY TEAM WE PLAY!
When we go to a 2-4-4 alignment
If we are in a 2-4-4 then we need to call a timeout.
I know it sounds crazy but k touched on it earlier this week with tapper and walker up front bond and striker as de essentially making it look like a 4-2-4
My comment was in reference to the fact the 2+4+4=10 players. Its a 2-4-5.
Oh wow! yeah gotta have 11 out there sorry coffee hasn’t kicked in yet lol
That is a scary group and wait til it’s an obvious passing down and we unleash obo as well
Yeah, it would be nice situationally against an immobile quarterback.
That’s only 10 players….
With Lampkin and the 2 jucos, our final recruiting ranking for 2015 should be well into the top 10. I wonder if any of the services ever re-rank according to who shows up and is enrolled?
Not that it matters, but Lampkin is/was a 3 star so it wouldn’t change the value only the number of signees.
I don’t completely understand how the rankings work. Seems to me, that Lampkin should have been a 4* In all of the ranking systems.
Lampkin is rated a 3* but you’d have to be blind not to see a 4* – 5* in his senior hudl. Unless there is some unknown quanitity like he takes plays off or an attitude problem then his superior talent is blatantly obvious.
I still laugh at the recruiting services for down grading Courtney Garnett from a 4 to 3 stars a day after he dropped his commitment to Texsa.
Yeah so much of it is political that you have to take some of these rankings with a grain of salt.
The butthurt and the sheer number of threads about this kid on the texas sites is ridiculous. One guy said Lampkin better get used to getting, well, somethng pushed in for the next four years. Even more reason to grind the horns into the turf for at least the next ten.
Yes, his video is sick. Looks like Suh playing little kids.
I would have to respectively disgree. We already had a top 10 regarding in value in star ranking. It would add 3 minus 1 (Wood) in total numbers. And yes, he was a 4 star..,
Meh…doesn’t matter, either way.
Agreed! The reason I ask is because of some people on this site that say recruiting has dropped off and we have lost our edge. You saw it before Silvie and the recent roll and we will see it again before signing day. We will always get ours!
I agree that it only matters in the context of National impressions of the program. The play on the field will raise the recruiting too and that is all that matters – except to counter the spin Dr’s @ ESPiN.
Some may have been bored or wanted attention or something but it was extremely weird for so many to overreact in freaking June and July about recruiting. And we were only behind by 1 or 2 commits from the normal amount. Not no mo
I think he was a 3 star composite & maybe 4 star on 247.
Lampkin is ranked about the same as Kenneth Mann on rivals. Both are 5.7 and Mann is our 20th ranked prospect, rivals only ranks based on top 20 prospects. This is why fsu was a top 3 class with only 20 signees. I don’t think it would make a huge difference. I do agree with others that lampkin should have been a 4 star. I think he won the Houston area defensive player of the year for his class.
A little inside info…someone’s getting pounded tonight compliments of The US Air Force…

nope F 16’s from Turkey… if you don’t know the fire power of the F 16 you better go ask somebody and they are unleashing holy hell right now
I’m a USAF vet from the Great Asian Vacation.
Love those Falcons.
I flew a desk in USAF back in the ’80’s. Electronic communications.
I was law enforcement(a.k.a. MP). Was in Saigon for the evac in 1975.
Must have been quite an adventure ET. I can still visualize that last Helicopter leaving Saigon.
That was the Marines in the choppers.
It was an adventure, though. Made my last trip in there a few days before Tan Son Nhut AB was shut down by the commie bastidges moving in.
Well glad you made it out of that God forsaken hell hole safely.
Way too many didnt.
Yessir, some good ones never came home.
Back a few years ago on New Year’s Eve, after the grandbabies had gone to bed, I was standing on the patio of my daughter and SIL’s home in Cedar Park, Tx.
We were standing on this dimly lit patch of concrete with total darkness all around. We could hear firecrackers going off and other fireworks exploding all around us. I stood there and had a deja vu, and told them this reminded me of being in Saigon surrounded by small arms fire and exploding ordnance. They were silent and I could tell they were trying to imagine the experience.
My daughter finally said, in a halting voice, that she never realized I was in that dangerous of a situation. I just laughed and told her I was never worried, that I knew I would be alright because I wasn’t thinking about ME, I was only thinking about all the people I loved back home.
very cool ET. Im sorry that I could only give you one upvote.
Nah…it was a great adventure for a young man who only recently learned he wouldn’t live forever. 🙂
We dont live forever?…wait…what?
I know, right?
Duuude. this is news to me as well. When
did
this
Had to drop a guy inside the airport when I was coming home. He yelled at me and called me an effing baby killer. I was just walking to my terminal to leave. Got up in my face. When it was over, security told me to proceed to my flight. He was booked for inciting to riot and assault. True story.
That’s the truth! Family, friends, and the future little ones are what kept me goin.. Close call after close call and they are the first thing on my mind everytime! That and Sooner football! Actually had one close call in 2011 the same day the beloved Sooners put it to Florida State! Haha
God Bless you, brother!
Thanks for your service.
And a million deaths followed because we had “lost Cronkite” the idiot. FUBAR
I really liked Cronkite but that post broadcast speech really did a lot of harm
I believe It drove the government to withdraw just as the VC had exhausted themselves and we had won. There was enormous pressure to withdraw from the hell hole created by the Democrats but it’s a President’s job to do what is right once you’re in there and have lost so many.
If the country was 50/50 before Cronkites speech it went downhill exponentially by the next day.
He was a traitor
I work with a woman who was a little girl at the time and her parents got her out of there just in nick of time. She has some harrowing tales of her experience, and unfortunate experience of her relatives who were left behind. Let’s just say it wasn’t good. We won the lottery in life to be born in USA.
We earned it because of our system of government and our freedom.
I was involved in both Operation New Life and Operation Babylift. Quite proud of my participation in both, but especially the latter.
http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ops/new_life.htm
For all of you that served in that time I would just like to say your awesome. That was a rough time to be a soldier. So many issues at that time and it is barely talked about.
Yeah. Troops getting spit on and whatnot. They were just doing what they were told. Of the videos I’ve seen and stories I’ve been told those pissed me off
I rotated back to the states in Dec of 67. Was never spat on. Was always treated with respect, especially from my own Native people who hold vets in high regard. We were getting bumped from a flight coming through LA from San Fran. It was Dec 23rd. Some businessmen asked if we were coming back from Nam and we said “yes”. They told the agent “there’s no way in hell we’re going to bump these Marines” and we got back on the plane. Good people. Even bikers bought us beers. We couldn’t pay for anything back then in most places.
That’s pretty cool. Thanks for sharing that. Always good to hear about people like that and thank you putting your life on the line for us
My brother served from ’69 to ’71. The U.S. Military men and women deserve our support. Who would put their lives on the line to serve those whom they don’t know. This country means that much to them.
A big SALUTE to all on TFB who have served and are serving. I thank you, my family thanks you. We love you for your continuous display of selflessness.
I blogged about this guy on three different blogs six years ago. His Dad(U.S.Army) and Mom married, his Dad was KIA and he never met him. He lanquished in Viet Nam, the commies referred to children like him as “the dust of life” and were worthless, non-citizens.
He finally got to the U.S. because of his being the son of a U.S. citizen, served in the Army, got his degree, reenlisted and got his Masters. He made this walk to thank America, taking a sabbatical from his PHD work.
Attitude, it makes all the difference.

Looking back at it now, some 40 years later, I just remember the fun and good things. Like the friends I made for life and for the most excellent ride I have ever had. A night time combat landing in a C-130 has made all the amusement rides a ho-hum event for me.

and the one falling of the roof
I was up near the DMZ for all of ’67. I am one jarhead that appreciated the Air Force on many, many occasions. 🙂
Those flyboys, both USAF and USMC, had some large brass one’s.
God Bless you and Welcome Home!
My ex wife wanted to name our son SAM…….I said…thats not happening.
Better than Lemay; one of my Dad’s friends on a B52 crew did. That poor dang kid.
Thanks, sir! And, that ain’t no lie. I saw them do lots of stuff that we were thinking, “F that”. Watching the smaller planes come in ahead of the B52’s and actually decoy the SAMs was some stuff to see. But, we were all thankful for all of the pilots, regardless of aircraft. Even for the f’ng Navy. lol
LOL!
You know what the battle stance for the USN is, right?
1)Adopt an aggressive off-shore posture
2)Send in the Marines
3)Drink coffee
LOL
im a 1958 model missed nam but would have proudly gone
As an ex-Navy guy, we loved the Marines so much we were more than willing to pick them up and drop them on some of the most beautiful beaches in all the world. Of course, how the natives received them was purely by chance.
And then you drank coffee. LOL!
Our coffee pots were 100 cup sized. Now that is what you may call “Super Size it”.
Chow hall may be optional, coffee was not! LOL
Uhhh… beg your pardon. Fire Control Tech here, USN has some bad-ass ordnance. And, Naval Aviator’s are the best in world! 🙂
Yessir, and the biggest coffee urns in the Armed Forces. 🙂
That’s just intelligence.
Absolutely!
As an ex-Navy guy that now works for the Air Force training pilots, I do have to remind the young men that any body can land on a 2 mile long runway. Try that landing on a moving 1000 ft landing strip and see how that works for you. LOL
thank you sir
That’s amazing. The fact they were defeated makes it even tougher to swallow. Kissinger a real great negotiator in Paris/sarc. What a cluster.
We won the battles and lost the war
total crap.
Ironically, Ho Chi Minh’s first choice was to ally with us at the end of WW2. All we had to do was tell the French they weren’t getting their colony back.
Things could’ve been different.
Yeah, and the back stabbing Congress that refused to send the aid promised or return troops when the commies didn’t keep their word.
… or the French.
I’ve seen Top Gun.
Yes. Goose hits his head. Kelly Mcgillis is a lesbian.
lmao Kelly went down hill huh
Thank you for your service sir and god bless
Yeah baby…

Ummmm be somewhere else. I’ve seen these in live action up close. The F 22 and F 35 are even more bada$$.
Amen to that! First time I watched the vectored thrust in action, I was absolutely speechless. Could hardly believe science fiction had become reality.

Hopefully one of those, “Pull your people way back, Big Duke, this’s gonna be a big one.”
Per recent tweets, Strong does not intend to release Lampkin from scholarship. Not sure how you can be on scholarship to attend a university if you don’t meet the admittance requirements for said university. Looks like this saga isn’t over yet.
Looks like strong believes lampkin failed the class on purpose which I wouldn’t disagree. I’m just not sure why strong is letting all the Florida kids reconsider but is hard balling an instate kid. Hopefully the negativity around texsa and Baylor will help us land some more top talent from Texas.
Strong was already treading water with the Texas High School Coaches Association, he may be under the water after this.
I hope he drowns.
I’ll provide a couple of cinder blocks.
He can always recruit Florida.
/s
I am dumbfounded by Strong. I thought he would bring Texa$$ back to prominence. Why is he trying to dig his own grave?
Must be afraid many of his current players might be looking for an out. LOL!
Considering that this group supposedly sets up roadside shrines to venerate Art Briles’ used undies, I’m not really anyone should care much what they think.
It doesn’t appear he has any choice.
My take is that can delay things…but only so long. So lampkins likely loses this year to a RS.
Yeah but that really doesn’t do any harm because he will probably RS anyway after missing all of fall camp. It’ll work out in the end.
Lampkin has officially enrolled at OU. If he has signed letter of denial of admission it doesn’t matter one bit what Strong says. The LOI is null and void with signed letter.
He’s not listed on ou.edu student search for whatever that’s worth. I know once you’re admitted, you show up there.
https://twitter.com/DeeChilllin/status/634787049585807360
I saw that and am definitely excited. Just was surprised he’s not on ou.edu, thus I posted as much.
I’m not sure being admitted and being enrolled is the same. He said he was admitted?
Correct. Maybe has to enroll prior to being on student search site. Good point.
I believe he has to have some documentation from Texsa stating his admission is denied.
If they don’t provide that, he can sue them for some of the considerable wealth they are always telling us about.
Yeah, that’s the million dollar question – does he have signed denial of admission letter from Uterus?
They either do or don’t admit him, either way the admissions office must produce documentation. Not up to the HC.
If the above is true then this is the most important part and requires no texsa action…. or, by the opening day of classes in fall 2015, has failed to provide me with written notice of admission, provided I have submitted a complete admission application.”
I agree, having now read that paragraph.
“a. Admissions Requirement. This NLI shall be declared null and void if the institution named in this document notifies me in writing that I have been denied admission or, by the opening day of classes in fall 2015, has failed to provide me with written notice of admission, provided I have submitted a complete admission application.”
Even if he has no signed letter of denial, if UT failed to admit him by opening day, then he is released.
It doesn’t really matter at this point what Strong wants, we have already determined what the rules say, so let him blubber. That is just the arrogance of Texsa.
Someone earlier posted on the QB situation: “Still think it’s going to be CM.”
Dang, Curtis Mayfield ??
Curtis is good. But, whoever it is, “It’s alright.”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Du9pCalSCU
Better than Jeremy Mayfield.
trevor Mayfield
I was referencing Jeremy Mayfield… Nascar driver who was kicked out after testing positive for meth. Which makes Trevor Mayfield a nice pairing… two guys who can go really fast and both get jittery and hyper thus missing the mark too often. LOL
lmao good one
How scary is it that there is a possibility Mayfield raced on meth?
Can you imagine being in a 3500 pound car going 200 miles an hour in a pack of 43 cars all within 10″ of each other… and one of the other guys is hopped up on meth? That would pucker your pooper.
Man, you look away for 1 second and there’s 40+ new comments. That’s a nice problem to have, TFB.
Yes but it takes forever to get caught up lol
Ive really gotta stay of here for the rest of the day so much to do wait hit refresh dam no updates tfb are slacking j/k

So, that’s all it takes to have a “solid” practice? Meh…
Dang guys! Maybe we should just forfeit right now, he caught that ball in mid air!!! I heard that their kicker hit an extra point at the SAME practice! #Solid
Anyone know if Bradford and Murray are going to play tonight?
Supposedly Sammy B is going to get some time. I think DM is sitting this one out.
They both played a few series. Sammy took a few hits (1 high and 1 low), and took them just fine.
Pretty exciting watching 3 Sooners.
Yes – both playing
Yes – they are both playing tonight.
Thanks. I’m looking forward to watching the Eagles this year…first time in a long time.
Yes – so am I. Sam could thrive in this offense. I live in St Louis and he didn’t have a fighting chance here – but his talent/ability is undeniable and respected throughout the league. Hope he has a great year to shut up some of the STL “fans” that don’t have a clue. I bought an Eagles hat last week after never rooting for them ever before!
It was pretty ridiculous watching him getting all the blame when he had no protection and nobody to throw it to. Amendola had been cut twice before Bradford made him a favorite target, for example.
Luck is a good QB, but he also had the good fortune to land on a team with good receivers and a decent line.
Here in The Lou too – and outside my family (All OU fans, all the time), I’ve heard four people who haven’t blamed Sammy for the Rams’ lack of Super Bowl trips. Four.
A bunch of dipsticks here.

I will never understand why the music for all highlight videos has to be horrible. Who decided that?
Things I miss, slip screens, reverses, shovel passes and break your neck speed players. Sure hope we see some of that in LR’s Offense this year!!! I would rephrase it as 13 days and a wake up away!
Ooo! Shovel pass Heupel to Q!! I remember those!
They where quite effective also, with the speed we have at RB those would be a lot of fun in this O, or slip Shep or Westbrook down and let them catch a few soooooooo many options!!!!
I have no doubt that the shovel will be seen in abundance with this offense.
I certainly hope so!

Anyone else besides me dumb enough to expect the OU premium site to provide any insight into OU football?
August 21st the only premium content is a 10 second fast speed video of two cranes taking down the light pole in the SE corner of the stadium WhooHoo what a thrilling video. And for watching this 10 second video you get to watch a jillion time rerun of the same ole OU OUtreach commercial.
The only value is that you get give OU AD’s office another $100 dollars a year gift.
Plus, you get to hunt the site for the log in dialog box, then you click on log on and you get to hunt for the sign in box again.
Makes me think we hired a bunch of osu fans as our internet website gurus.
I don’t mind giving OU money, but I do mind them not even trying to give you something that doesn’t make you feel stupid for trying to finding some decent information on that site.
Don’t forget the videos don’t work half the time.
That and the big Friday “Soonerscoop” is basically everything that happened during the week just regurgitated into one big article. I bought into it for a year until I found this site. The only reason I revisit theirs is to see the star rankings of our incoming class on the homepage. If we had something similar to that here, that site would be dead to me all together.
In all fairness, not much has come out of this site in the past 4-5 days either. Just saying….
Hi-O !!!

Not very classy.
texas sucks
The correct quote should have been “As far as I know OU didnt tamper” but by all means keep it open for speculation Charlie…
unbelievable.
I don’t think Strong was implying he thinks OU did anything.
But since he was the guy that played the game, it’s messed up that he’s making it seem like he wasn’t at fault, but maybe OU was…
The classy response would have been to imply that theres no reason to believe OU tampered rather than leaving it open for speculation.. At least thats how I believe Bob Stoops would have handled it.
Oh what an endearing coach the horns have found.
It seems like he’s the perfect fit for the crap fest that is UT.
You got that right.
I once had great respect for Charlie Strong as a coach and a man. Not anymore. I feel nothing but disdain. Looking forward to the RRR.
In my opinion your hate for Charlie is unjust. The man answered a question. Said he didn’t know. Does’t seem the slightest bit accusatory to me.
I dont think youre getting the subtlety of it.
Whose hate? I think you are assuming quite a bit there Mr. Moore!
All this finger-pointing at assumed “haters” doesn’t work with me- go play that s#it elsewhere.
Here’s a link to a quick write-up on Sammy B. and how he did tonight. He def took some big shots (one looked a bit cheap…), and got up okay! Welcome back Sammy! here’s to a healthy year!
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/25277892/sam-bradford-marches-eagles-to-td-takes-a-couple-big-shots-in-debut
I agree that Sam looked good. The cheap shot was Suggs took a cheap shot late on the knees of Bradford. Luckily, Bradford turned and took it more as a back of the leg. Definitely made me cringe when I watched it live.
Heading to Haiti early in the morning. All prayers for our team are much appreciated. Don’t get too rowdy while I’m gone. God Bless!
I’ll promise the prayers for you and your team…won’t promise that I won’t get too rowdy. Fair enough?
Definitely fair knowing my bud Stephen Dale will be lurking around————
Now you did it. He-who-must-not-be-named will be in full bloom tomorrow.
Be safe, do good works and get your hindey home.

Carolina Panthers defensive end Frank Alexander suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in the first quarter. Alexander was battling with Kony Ealy for the every down end spot opposite Charles Johnson. Alexander was suspended for 14 games last season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. He was looking at this season as his last chance.
unreal. another achilles
Dang.
Geez that’s painful to read. Don’t give up, big frank!
Schmitty, am I right?

The language? Negatory.
Don’t ask me. I only know what I read. That sounds like inside info and I don’t read the 247 site much.
It was an attempt at humor- as JS ages, his vertical will degrade to the point to where his face will “bump” into…. you get the idea.
That’s pretty funny after you look at the picture.
When he ruptures his Achilles…..
LOL!
Or one of the players.
How can you blame the strength coach for an achilles injury two years removed? Doesn’t make sense. OU has had a lot of injuries of the years but they aren’t Schmitty’s fault.
um. its a joke…
I know we are all in on Whaley, but this kid(4.4 forty) is going to be a good player for someone.

Now that I’ve taken a shower and bleached my eyes, I can report that I went to BON to see what they were saying about Lampkin.
After wading through the typical derogatory comments about Oklahoma, there was one bit of useful information I could extract. The final day for registration at Texsa is Thursday, so until at least that day Lampkin will be an OU student only.
To add to that, I found this tweet From an ESPN dude on ESPN…
“Max OlsonESPN Staff Writer
Why won’t Texas release DT signee Du’Vonta Lampkin from his letter of intent to help him join Oklahoma? Simple. Charlie Strong doesn’t want to set a precedent that signees can back out on a letter of intent by simply skipping courses required to gain admission at UT. “He understood what it took to get into school here,” Strong said. Lampkin, a three-star recruit, has already enrolled at OU and plans to join the Sooners as soon as his letter of intent is voided.”
I mean, for the most part I agree with Strong. Not that I dont want Lampkin here, but Strong is under no obligation to “release” him from his LOI. Lampkin DID know what it took to get into UT, and he DID decide to go there anyway. In a way, its kind of a dick move by the kid, who probably just changed his mind, and used the system (smart kid) to get him out of UT.
Once he is denied admission by UT (which might be this Thursday according to E.Tex’s research above…), then his LOI will be voided, and he can join the team.
Quick question though, if Lampkin is already enrolled at OU, did he even attempt to enroll at UT? I’m under the impression that the recruits’ LOI is only void if he is DENIED enrollment. But to be denied, you must first attempt to enroll.. Anyone know if Lampkin actually was denied by UT? or did he just not enroll, and enrolled at OU instead. IF (and that’s a big IF) the latter is the case, then would his LOI actually be voided? If he was never denied enrollment?
I think you have to be admitted before you can enroll. From what I’ve read, he hasn’t been admitted yet.
Thank you, I believe you are correct and I edited my above post. I sometimes use admittance and enrollment interchangeably, even though I know one comes before the other, lol.
This whole thing is convoluted. I guess it’ll all get worked out fairly soon. Texas has to say yea or nay this week, I would think.
Lampkin’s tweet above says that he has been officially admitted at OU.
I was referring to UT. I don’t think they’ve admitted him yet. I guess you can be admitted to a number of schools for the same semester. The whole thing is kind of confusing.
They can’t admit him – that’s the whole issue. He doesn’t meet the requirements.
For the record, you can apply to and be admitted to any number of universities. Nationally, there’s a pretty fierce competition for top students just as there are for football recruits. Typically even elite schools send out several acceptance letters for each spot they have in their freshman class.
I have no way of knowing, but at this point I think it unlikely that Lampkin or his family advisors would have failed to apply at Texsa, knowing that was a linch pin to the whole ordeal.
Momma Lampkin had this to say:
http://www.oudaily.com/sports/oklahoma-football-du-vonta-lampkin-s-mother-says-her-son/article_a8fc9d82-4865-11e5-9a5c-ab6e1d79b56e.html
From our position as fans and readers we can speculate only about who did what to whom. The kid may have pursued a loophole, and Texsa may have jacked with the young man’s future.
In any event, he is not going to Texsa, he is
enrolledadmitted to OU and the LOI will be null and void soon enough. I can only wish him a successful career at OU and hope that he is a solid contributor to Sooner football. Also, the crowd building on the DL has grown larger. Time for one Chris Daniels to go ahead and get on board before all slots are taken.
From what I’ve seen of online high school courses, it shouldn’t be too hard to pass them in the time given, if motivated. (especially if there’s a tutor). Sounds to me like everyone is gaming everyone here.
According to previous information back in May, Lampkin had failed a semester of Spanish in high school. Not everyone can pick up a new language or at least easily.
His concern was that if he failed at least one of the online courses he would be forced to go juco, which he did not want to do.
This has already grown tiresome. Geez, mystery of the missing wood and now this. I am soooooo ready for the games to begin.
FWIW, the application deadline for UT, per their admissions website, is December 1. So he must have at least applied back in the fall.
Thanks!
It’s all moot imo, he doesn’t get admitted at UT, he’s going to sit out regardless for 1 year, he hasn’t been in a training program all summer so even if he could play this year he probably would end up redshirting, he’ll be an OU student for a year and come in and be a force for 2016.
How’s that bleach working for you? Just wanted to know, so I could improve my day if possible.
It helped, now I need to get some brain bleach. 🙂
I wound up in Tulsa for the W/E, I haven’t seen my wife since 1st of June. She is driving up to spend the day with me, gonna need some bleach to remove the road accumulation before she gets here I think.
LOL!
Well, we won’t be seeing you around here for a while.
Just some Sunday pic fun! How bout our old ball coach putting it to our Sooners!?
Or this one when he attempts to tackle B. Sims. haha
Great one here! It looks like one knows he will be a badass leader one day, and the other looks like he’s destined to work for (his brother?) lol, not that that is necessarily a bad thing. Could be great! Seems to be for Mikey..
Mike looked like his was in his 40s even back then.
I don’t have anything against MS, but he looks like Biff from Back to the Future.
Always number 2
I imagine the hawkeyes and sooners both, got a good laugh at this one in film session.. How funny to think the Sooners would have been laughing at their future top 3 coach of all time.
Well, he’s not going to catch him from up there!
Charlie Strong is another low-life HC. Hiding behind the idea that he doesn’t want to start a trend of recruits backing out. Won’t release Lumpkin. So, the whorns join taco tech.
I’m not sure man, this one seems like its more on Lampkin than anyone else. I mean, of course I’m glad he’s switching to the good guys, but the kid knew the drill, he knew what was required of him, and HE decided to back out of his commitment to whorns. Makes me laugh at whorns, but I don’t blame them one bit for not releasing him. I wouldn’t be shocked in the slightest if Bob didnt release a kid under the EXACT same circumstances…
Pretty sure bob has always let a kid loose
AFAIK, Bob has always let a kid go without restrictions.
How many times has a kid committed to OU (under Bob), and intentionally (up for debate I know, but thats my opinion) not been admitted? I would say that number is zero. So, until we see this happen, a kid backing out totally based on his integrity, then I’ll say that could very well be Bob’s fist denial… But you are right, he has yet to not release a kid. But, he hasnt faced this circumstance either, at least that I am aware of.
He realized that he cannot pass the second-year language course. Language courses are difficult. He didn’t realize it. Yes, that’s on him. But you should have the right to go to another school if the problem is purely an academic one. Strong should release him in order for the kid to complete his education in a timely manner.
But that is the thing. He can complete his education in a timely manner. He is already admitted to OU, and will be enrolled soon, starting classes this fall. Strong has in no way hindered the kid from education (okay, except for the scholarship part, which is understandably HUGE for some kids). But the NCAA allows for the LOI to be null and void in the event of academic circumstances, allowing the kid to get another scholarship from another school. This just is not on Strong in my opinion. Now, some of your (all the tfb posters’) points are very well taken. If the kid doesnt want to be there, than let him go. But, thats another matter for debate..
I guess it’s not on Strong in the sense that perhaps his bosses’ don’t want to release Lumpkin. But he was credits short, BEFORE he signed his LOI. I think this is on them, in that Lumpkin may have some academic struggles.
You are absolutely right there. The kid is and was always those two credits short..
Is there a reason you call him “Lumpkin”?
He’s kind of round isn’t he?
A lot of people are. I’m big on names. Must be my journalism background. Plus, a person’s name is important to them. It’s disrespectful to intentionally mispronounce someone’s name.
Joking. How do you spell his name?
Lamp not Lump
Hey Sam, I have been perusing Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine for the past few weeks. They voted Aaron Sims the 3A Player of the Year for 2014.
Wow! I can’t wait for him to get things in order. He will put the special in special teams. OU is going to be hard to handle, real soon.
Kid may be small in stature, but he has the heart of a Champion.
As founder and President of the Aaron Sims fan club, when he gets to join the Sooners I may not be able to contain my enthusiasm.
I know. You’ve always been enthusiastic about Sims. I will be watching. And, my mood is improving because the season is right around the corner.
Yessir, the excitement is palpable.
Love that kid’s game and his toughness.
He has to grad juco right…DeDe will be gone…but surely he will still want to be a Sooner if he gets the opportunity
I think that is how it works, not sure. If he is a walk on at juco and not on a grant in aid, would he have to stay two?
If he didn’t qualify he would have to do that. That might mean graduation from juco
Hey, EasTex, do you know where I can find some film on the kid? His Hudl is private, and there’s not much on Youtube as far as I can tell.
No sir, not since they went private at hudl.
The full state championship game is available and Sims was amazing in that game with 3TDs.
That’s disappointing. Which state championship was it?
For the most part, students are going to be a few credits short of graduation and/or the courses they need to gain entrance into university as of signing day, because it’s in the middle of senior year of high school.
On the flip-side, the whorns knew he was 2 credits short of their admission requirements when they let him sign a letter of intent. They should not allow a kid to sign if there’s a real possibility he won’t be accepted. If they choose to sign him, they should have tutors or whomever every step of the way with them to make sure they get courses completed. That way, they can document if a kid “intentionally failed” to meet the requirements, instead of making assumptions about a 17 year olds character and crucifying them in the media.
True story! But, I have no idea if Tejas was willing to have tutors for him, but knowing how many college programs work, and the desire for the coaches to have players eligible, I would say Lampkin would have most certainly had tutors available to him.
That, to me, is the crux of this entire issue. The Texsa compliance department didn’t perform their duties prior to NSD.
Really the heart of the matter is this. Charlie Strong told Lampkin that his defensive line coach will not be leaving UT and THATS why Lampkin committed in the first place. Charlie Strong flat out lied about that and now is being completely hypocritical by being upset with Lampkin for not honoring his LOI. Where is the honor in lying to a high school recruit just to get his name on a LOI???
To me this speaks volumes on Charlies whole program of discipline and honesty that hes touting down in Austin.
Its really pretty disgusting.
http://collegespun.com/big-12/texas-big-12/texas-commit-duvonta-lampkin-after-chris-rumph-leaves-for-florida-guess-i-was-lied-to-in-my-face
Oh yes. I completely forgot about that. And Lampkin was displeased with that immediately. Douchebag move by strong, but what is it these coaches say “you commit to the university, not the coach.” even though we all know that rarely happens like it used to.
According to the Texsa apologist at BON Strong was shocked…SHOCKED…when he was told his DL coach was leaving.
Yeah Shocked that it took him 2 days to leave after Lampkin signed. He was expecting it to be 1 day.
They went for tacos the day after NSD.

This IS where it seemed to start to all unravel.
kid and family were also high on mont and he’s gone…..has he even met a/o had contact with reynolds…………asked tfb several times w/o response
Hes communicated w Monty on Twiiter….he can’t have contact w Reynolds or anyone associated w OU…that would be tampering
of course, thxs, just find it a little strange to transfer and have never met his position coach since he had close ties with the others…….kinda sounds like he’s boxed in and ou is an out for him………perhaps it will work out great for all involved
By all account Reynolds is well liked by the players. Ive even seen them compare him to Monty. Throw in the fact that he has a lot more experience working w nfl linemen and I see Lampkin being in a better position than his was even w Monty as his coach…plus he will be surrounded by a coach with better moral fiber. Stoops is second to none when it comes to life outside of football for these guys and their families
I can understand Strongs thinking. But in the end, if a kid doesnt want to be there. LET HIM GO. No used keeping him and trying to force him to like your program.
I was under the impression from earlier TFB posts that it didn’t matter, that he was free since he didn’t meet ut’s qualifications
Does anyone know if a depth chart for the Akron game has been released?
Yea, starters, and then backups. HA! I know, not really that funny…
Not as of Friday. Maybe something more this week. But with two weeks left I can see the staff holding out until next Monday.
Question, seeing how we lost Hansen, is there any chance that say a Thomas or Knight will seek a transfer if they don’t get the starting nod?
I could see Thomas maybe, or he could go back to baseball. I dont see Knight ever transferring. Seems to “loyal” of a sooner.
I don’t think so, Hansen never got to play. All these guys have played and quite honestly the clock is ticking for them. I dont see the value in them transferring now especially since no one other than Trevor has really played a good amount of games consistently.
What would Mayfield do in this scenario, would he walk on some place else?
lol, sarcasm? or for real? cuz thats kind of funny. “Now the starting quarterback for your S.H.S. Bearkats , Baker “the walk on” MAYFIELD!!! lol
Quick trivia question, who is the last OU quarterback to transfer and play with the Bearkats? Hint, it almost rhymes with fubar.
Bomar?
Ding Ding Ding. Show him what he’s won Bob….Why, it’s a Rhett Bomar autographed Upper Deck card!!! Congratulations!
That ought to be worth 2 cents…
More than my card is worth! lol
Was it “Johnny Paycheck”?
/*snort**chuckle*
I see what you did there. HA.
I left off Mayfield because he can’t walk on to a third team. I don’t think he would be accepted. Not saying he is winning the job, only that it would be a real negative for him to walk on elsewhere.
No.
IMO if Mayfield starts and does well all year, and somehow receives the year he lost back.. Which is quite a stretch! I would have to assume Thomas would transfer because he has put everything into football.. But that scenario is on a bunch of ifs!
I predicted before that CT will ultimately transfer.
So sorry for Frank Alexander. Tore his Achilles Tendon. Done for the year. Dang it:-(
Wow. That’s two.
That sucks for Frank. Man!
Over 1000 comments in a weekend open post!! Woo hoo! Welcome back to football ladies and gentlemen!
yep you can tell the best time of year is upon us!
Where you been?
he was probably hiding in the doldrums of summer..
Poof…and he’s gone.
Ive been slammed busy at work. The Dallas location i took over has proven to need way more attention than the Shreveport one. But I’m back, what do you think of the Lampkin thing? glad we got a dt prospect but its something about the decommit, cant make it into Texas so I’LL go to OU thing that doesnt sit right with me. Stoops is cool with it then so am I but…
Good to see your nic.
As I always say, the alternative to being busy isn’t very pleasant, either.
I have had my doubts about the Lampkin situation from the first time I heard about it. Regardless, if the coaches and team welcome him aboard(which hasn’t actually happened) then I’m all for it.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fF1YGYzlxB8
Something to pass the time.
This is sweet. Except it reminds me that we lost what? 4 games at home over the last two years.
Just think about the good times.
Hey now. Let us not speak what must never be spoken.
Thank you. If you don’t wanna get up and run thru a wall or something, you may need to check to see if you have a pulse. lol
It got the blood going.
Awesome stuff!!! I still remember that Nebraska game like it was yesterday. My wife thought I was going to bring the cops to my house with all my screaming and yelling!
AP Top 25 released….Oklahoma starting at #19
http://247sports.com/Bolt/BREAKING-Preseason-AP-Top-25-Poll-released-38902613
Interesting, we travelled down this road fifteen years ago.
It will be interesting to see if Bobs move with Mike will work.
That is the least of what interests me about this season. So much talent and potential.
I want our D back to something dominate for an entire season.
You mean besides dominating the 10 yard cushion?
A tired meme.
Every team in every game does the same thing based on the defenses call, not just OU last year.
I know, I know. Just thought it was funny.
I would like that, as well.
I think we could be that way against teams that aren’t HUNH oriented.
NSFW:
http://www.moviewavs.com/php/sounds/?id=gog&media=WAVS&type=Movies&movie=48_Hrs"e=brave.txt&file=brave.wav
I will remind everyone that the D in 2000 wasn’t really dominating per say, but, made plays when they had too and was great at creating TO’s and then had the knack for the big play. Not saying they wasn’t good but, in 2000 we had the perfect balance of everything O and D and Special Teams where in fact SPECIAL, Ferguson taking the Safety in the Orange Bowl was such a heads up play that’s how you know we where meant for great things! I do agree with EasTex Soooooooooo much talent and potential this year!
I beg to differ, sir. That 2000 defense was absolutely dominant. You don’t finish 7th in scoring D (most important stat of all), 8th in Total D, #2 in Pass Efficiency D, 9th in Pass D, 23rd in Rush D, and have 2 Thorpe Award winners and 2 Butkus Award winners if you aren’t a dominant defense. That was Stoops’ best defense in his tenure even though statistically it would have been 2nd or 3rd in Stoops’ tenure. But none of Stoops’ other teams played as difficult a conference schedule as the 2000 team.
It’s ok to differ we only gave up 194 points in the midst of the landscape of college football changing. Nebraska and KSU where the cream of the crop don’t dare argue Texas was, they where on the rise like us, and just cause it was a rival game is only reason people put stock in it. The Non Conference slate was easy peasy, the stretch of Texas, KSU and Nebraska was amazing but, we almost lost at A&M which the D had the play of the day with the Marshall pick and the D kept us in the OSU game. Just saying everyone says one of the greatest D’s to play I say they where a top 10 D of all time at OU top 3 in Stoops time. We have had just as talented D’s since then if not better, statistically they seem worse cause of the spread O’s and quick scoring O that we played. 2001 and 2009 D’s where stout, the 09 team lost 5 games with a very rocky O, that was playing learn as you go with Landry 3 shutout wins that year and still only gave up like 189 points. Not shabby considering our D probably was the saving grace that year. I am just playing Devils advocate. I get what your saying but, be mindful I take the changes in the game in account also though! No hate just making a statement was all though really!
(dominant)
One-Game-At-A-Time
That’s the best attitude, no looking backward or forward.
From a track perspective, it’s easier to run from behind than from the front where you can’t see what’s coming. I also like having two high ranked conference opponents who would boost our rankings at a good time of the year.
Two excellent analogies.
BTW, your bride might like this piece.

Yes, she actually rides in a Josey saddle that isn’t made any longer, one of the early models.
You might want to consider rewording that.
haha, no kidding. whats in that link!? lol
I stand by my statement. 🙂
Martha Josey is quite a gal.
Yeah, too bad Tenn starts lower than us.
No worries. If they win game 1 they will shoot up past us! SEC SEC SEC
Agreed
I was at the t. tech game that year when everyone was throwing oranges onto the field.. that was cool to see! Helluva feeling that season was!
I remember the fans doing the “jump around” and how Leach was flinching and clinching on the side line.
I was at that game too, but that was a later game against tech.. like 2008. When tech was miraculously ranked #2. haha The one I was referring to with the oranges was the 2000 season.
Aaah, okay. I was thinking the 2008 game when Taco Tech was #2.
My favorite video of that game, with only natural sound…no announcers.
https://youtu.be/Dae_iScT27M
Ah, 08′ and number 2. Edited my post. Wow, still, number 2? lol
One of the top home atmospheres in under Stoops. That and the 2000 Nebraska game will probably be two of my favorite home games for a long time.
RIP Austin Box
Agreed gut punch when seeing him…
I drive by the Enid stadium most days and always the first thing that crosses my mind is the memories of Austin.
Just drove by his folks house yesterday, and saw his little memorial area. Still hard to believe.
Finishing is a mindset… enjoy!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L971-MaGlqM
What I love about that video is the number of defensive plays that were ” game over” type plays. If we can do some of that this year…I like our chances.
Yes, Sir! I could watch these highlight videos all dang day! Love me some more of THIS in 2015. It’s gonna happen.
Some great memories there! BOOMER!
Pretty good day for Landry Jones. Of course, I saw an ESPN headline that went with “Jones struggles early.”
That he did. 10-19, 172 yards, 2 TD’s, 1 Int Not bad, not bad at all! Probably his best game as a pro.
Some dropped passes as well.
At one point I counted 3 drops in a row. So he was better than 10-19.
Sunday, and no BOOM! *sigh*
be an interesting battle for this guy………http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2550982-4-star-rb-devwah-whaley-taking-his-time-finalizing-big-12-sec-official-visits
I’m assuming (maybe from wishful thinking) that we are already a pre-silent commit.
I’m wishful also. I have to think it’s between us and Geeeoorrgia.
run heavy might favor arkie esp if they make some noise this yr…..surprises me lsu/bama aren’t in the mix
That immediate playing time might get us. If that’s the catch then good luck to him. I want guys who want to fight for playing time.
Immediate playing time is a big reason we, not Bama, got Perine though. Just sayin’.
with ou I think it’s a wait-and-see thru the season since there’s a new o, jmo
Should we expect a QB announcement this week?
It could be, but wouldn’t expect it. From what I have read probably mid week. But no time frame has been announced.
Would that be after this weeks taco Tuesday and before next weeks taco Tuesday? ?
I think they should name the starter this week. To me it’s a bad sign not to name one. They need the team to rally around the person they choose. I think knight should be the choice but at the same time he would probably give us the best chance to win a game if he had to come in due to ineffectiveness or injury to one of the other 2 guys. So maybe they go win potential (Thomas) and let knight be the veteran cool hand who can come in and win a game if needed.
What, 1,000+ comments and no update since Friday? Get a life, faniacs! 🙂
R/R – I was gone Friday until this evening (Sun) – short Vaca w/ wife, so I already HAD my life for this weekend and can now post.
BOOMER / SOONER – that is all; carry on TFBers!
Heck yeah, Cush. One more Saturday and then: “O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!”
Perfect weather to gyre and gimble in the wabe…
Jabberwocky…
This is our Fall practice mister……you think you can just show up anytime you feel like it? You owe us extra wind sprints and some stadium steps for slacking off! 🙂
Yep. Should have showed up for two a-days.
Fifteen minutes of gassers after each session until game day.
LOL! I’m so excited I can’t feel my face!
The more I hear about other big-time programs’ coaches (Sarkisian), the happier I am with our guy. Sheesh…
It is nice having a coach not make a drunken ass of himself. On the flip side, I just watched news9 sports and he just had to bring up the Sugar Bowl win…again. Ugh!
It’s also nice not having a coach and a school that doesn’t botch a rape investigation and clear a rapist of wrongdoing. Way to go, baylor
“bring up the Sugar Bowl win…again. Ugh!” If that’s the worst thing he does, I’ll live with it.
Yes, we need some new wins!!! I’ll take all of those we can get.
agreed.
I’m going to keep saying this: if everyone wants Bob to stop mentioning the Sugar Bowl, we (all of us) need to stop reminding him of his past failures. If we want Stoops to stop living in the past, we need to stop living in the past.
Agree, you said that better than me!
Thanks, Slim. I’m sure Stoops is hearing about the team’s poor performance. I can’t blame him for getting defensive. If someone is going to remind him of his failure, I’m sure he’s going to remind you of his success.
Me, too. I’d like to order up about 14 for this season alone. That would certainly silence the doubters and put us back on track.
Yeah, I don’t mind so much him talking about it in an interview with Deano. It was a good win and just as much a part of our recent history as the bad losses.
Different sport, but could you ever imagine Lon Kruger getting 3 sheets to the wind and dropping F bombs in front of alumni? Yeah, me neither. I can’t imagine any Sooner coach doing that…Coach Gasso, Coach Williams, Coach Roddick,Coach Coale…I just don’t see it.
I think that’s the whole point. With Stoops (and the others as well) you just can’t imagine it. With some of the other guys like Sark, (by no means all of them, btw, )you think, well of course something like that happened…
What did Sarkisian do?
……….http://www.pacifictakes.com/usc-trojans/2015/8/23/9193283/usc-trojans-head-coach-sark-salute-to-troy-drunk-rumors-inebriated-turn-up
Hope he’s able to straighten his life out.
Is there a bigger dork in Oklahoma sports TV than Bryan Keating? I guess you could throw Traber in there since he appears on Fox 25 Sunday…but even then I think Keating’s a bigger dork.
Deano, Holcomb- Legends in their own minds.
Over 1200 comments, WOW!! BOOMER!!!
