– OK Preps Central: Brandon & Alex have brought you news throughout the week, be it here on the site and/or on Twitter, of what’s shaping up to be a rather OK Preps-centric weekend for the Sooners in terms of unofficial visitors. So we figured it made sense to quickly recap things here with a list of those expected to be in Norman.

– Marvin Terry: Caught up with a source yesterday on Dallas South Oak Cliff 2016 OLB Marvin Terry, who recently named a Top 5 that included: Miami, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas Tech & Georgia. For those that don’t remember, Terry picked up an offer from OU back in February at the Sooners’ first Jr. Day event back in the spring. The Bulldogs, however, have not offered at this point, but are a team Terry has always really liked. With that in mind, though, you have to think Georgia would be at the back end of that Top 5 until, or if, they extend an offer.
Terry is currently working on setting his official visits for the fall, and I was told that it is looking like the West Virginia game will be the best weekend for him to visit OU. Which makes sense considering the numerous other names that have also already scheduled official visits for that same weekend. Terry also said he has already decided on seeing the Hurricanes the weekend of September 19, when they host Nebraska. These were the only official visits that he has mentioned thus far.
Miami is trying to sell Terry on the fact they are bringing the talent/swagger back to The U, and Texas Tech is coming hard after him as well. The Hurricanes and Red Raiders sound like they are the Sooners toughest competition at this point. However, Terry has already visited Norman multiple times this year and, according to my source, the Sooners are sitting in a nice spot. – (Alex King)
– Ed Oliver: We brought you the news earlier this week about the possibility of elite 2016 DT Ed Oliver using one of his five official visits to check out Norman. I had a chance to follow up with Oliver again earlier this week, and it seems as though he and OU DL coach Diron Reynolds have developed quite the connection. “He (Reynolds) is a really good dude and you can tell he knows football,” Oliver said.
And while that may not necessarily sound like a ringing endorsement, what you need to know about Oliver is he isn’t exactly one to delve into his thoughts and emotions to people publicly. Oliver did however go on to say that OU was his first offer and that’s something which is not lost on him. He said the OU coaches have done a good job staying in touch throughout his recruitment, even after his commitment to Houston, and though he has not yet set an exact date, he maintained a visit to Norman will happen.
Oliver strikes me as a young man that committed early and is now simply continuing to weigh his options. There is certainly no denying his obvious connections to both the Houston staff and that area, so if OU has any chance there it will definitely be an uphill battle. But the first step in the process is getting a kid on campus, so we’ll see if they can make that happen and then let the chip fall where they may.
As we noted earlier this week, Ed Oliver’s teammate, Tyrie Cleveland let us know that he will take an official to OU. Oliver told me that he and Tyrie hope to make their official visit to Norman together. – (Brandon)

Rumor on campus is that on August 15th, Texas will still suck. Can you confirm this?
Texas sucks on days that end in Y. August 15th is a Saturday…So yes Texas will indeed suck on the 15th.
There was a recent potsherd excavated just outside of Tyre that seemed to read, in part “…and to the north of that place, the wind did always blow strongly, and that because that place, Texas, did, indeed, suck so hard.”
Scholars at Tel Aviv Institute of Archaeology are unclear regarding the connection between this ‘Texas’ and Tyre, but suggested that other recent finds point to a trade in ‘dancing girls’ and fertilizer from Texas in exchange for glass beads, small mirror fragments and cotton candy from Tyre.

At New York’s Kennedy airport today, a person later discovered to be a public school teacher, was arrested trying to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a drafting triangle, a compass, and a calculator.
During a press conference the Attorney General said he believed the man was a member of the notorious al-Gebra movement and the FBI intends to charge him with transporting weapons of math instruction.
“Al-Gebra is a fearsum, transverse cult,” the Attorney General said. “As a group they seek means of average solutions by extremes, and sometimes randomly go off on tangents in search of absolute values. A member of al-Gebra may use acute alias such as ‘x’ or ‘y’ and refer to himself as an unknown identity, but we have determined that he is likely to belong to a common denominator — the axis of medieval that coordinates in every country.” The Attorney General continued, “Al-Gebra functions as a bunch of standard deviations that have been tribal since the time of Noah’s arc,” a remark that struck a chord with the media. “They are inordinate in terrorism, of that I’m abscissaly sure.
They use degrees of irrational subtrahend to create differences and conditional inequalities among friendly, discriminant nations, leading to arguments and making us less functional and coefficient in attaining our goals. And they have the international mobility of a swarm of loci. Give them an air matrix to inflate and a plot to set it on, and they can live anywhere. If necessary, we will pursue them to the corners of this Earthly sphere.”

Their murky statisticians plan to inflict plane of new dimensions on every sphere of influence,” he added. “Under these circumferences, we must differentiate their roots, make our points, draw our lines, and proportionally intersect these people throughout whatever area of the domain they range. And, above all, we must make sure that they can’t get their hands on radii active materials. That is one thing you can secant you? What we need is a higher quotient of linguists embedded with our troops so that they can interpolate the gibberish that al-Gebra uses to communicate. If we had that capability, we could periodically reach new limits of success as easily as falling off a natural log. Anything short of that could lead to some real, not imaginary, complex circumstances.”
The Secretary of Homeland Security added, “As our Great Leader would say, ‘Read my ellipse.’ The one angle that I am uncertainty of is that although al-Gebra will probability try to continuously multiply in theorem, their days are numbered as we draw the hypotenuse ever tighter around their necks.”

By Monday Jordan my have a synopsis of how all the former Sooners did in the games. Now, it may not happen during the preseason, but he definitely did it during the regular season.
Just off hand, Grissom looked disruptive and was mentioned by commentators on more than one occasion. Ripkowski made a couple of tackles on special teams. Damien Williams looked good as usual. He actually knocked a db out of the game on a 17 yd swing pass. That’s all I got.

He was moving all around. Played some DE in a 3 man front, played some stand up LB on the edge, andeven moved inside to DT when they brought in a rush package on a 3rd and Long. He had 1 TFL
Not a worry per say…but Bundage is coming this weekend and if he commits, then I doubt we take Terry. But I have a feeling that Terry is the better prospect. So what does OU do? Because we STILL NEED to keep a spot open for Caleb Kelly.
Bundage has said he wants to wait until NSD. If that holds up then Terry will have every opportunity to grab that spot.
I wouldn’t wait til nsd for bundage. He’s good but I have him below terry and clearly below kelly.

I seriously doubt there will be a spot for anyone but Kelly come signing day….and in that vein I believe that Kelly will decide SOONER, rather than later. Spots are filling up and guys waiting until NSD could miss out.

We’ll take both he and Terry. However it would be in Bundage’s best interest to commit. Because he could be that NB i.e S/LB hybrid OU has been missing for a while similar to Keenan Clayton. Which would allow players like Steven Parker to stay at safety permanently.
Bundage is the missing piece to the 4-2-5 defense imo. We need to get him at all costs. I hope he doesn’t wait till signing day like he has said in the past and miss out on a great opportunity where he could play right away.

I like Oliver but like Daniels, and Southall just as much. Obviously though if you OU can land Oliver that means more of a chance with Cleveland and he is the BIG ONE.. Imo

Hey K, still gonna post the write up on the QB’s from the scrimmage?
practice notes went up and, fwiw, there really wasn’t a “scrimmage.” They kind of informally hold scrimmage sessions in most practices, but I believe their first ‘full on’ more formal scrimmage is being held tomorrow.
Not sure that anyone else really cares but we were excited and blessed to be a very small part of the upgrades (temporary fence). This is not an advertisement by the way, just thought it was cool to be a part of.

OK, tomorrow we are three Saturdays away from game day. Time to start putting together your Season Preparedness Plan. For those of you who live out of state and watch at home like me, let me recommend the following three week plan.
Week 1 – Review last season. How did your equipment work? Was the screen big enough? Was the sound clear enough? Did you have adequate grill capacity? Were the family members properly respectful of game time? Come up with a list of items to upgrade or replace. Come up with a list of family members to be upgraded or replaced.
Week 2 – Upgrades and replacements. Base on the list from Week 1, its time to go to Lowes, Bust Buy, and eHarmony for those upgrades/replacements. Spend the weekend installing and testing. Note installation of new family members can take awhile so you may want to start earlier in the week.
Week 3 – Dry run. Pick a pro game and pretend its an OU game. Run through your game day experience. Is all your equipment working? Did you forget charcoal for the grill? Does the family respect game time? Replace or fix any as needed. If you have new neighbors don’t forget to scream at the TV and yell at appropriate times, want to make sure they aren’t going to call the cops.
Remember proper preparation is the key to any successful venture.
May need an alarm clock or make sure you know how to do it on your phone as we may have a lot of 11am games.
Yeah you’re probably right although the last 3 games should be prime time games.
Who can sleep the night before a game?
It’s been getting harder and harder for me to drink all night as I get older, so I sometimes find myself awakening from a slumber, albeit unintended, due to that weakness in stamina. It’s just a matter of getting into “game shape” and maintaining that fine line between consciousness and my friends pulling me away from 7-11’s door at 4:00 am where I am intending to urinate on the front of their premises due to their refusal to sell me their watered down beer. That is because of my own lack of planning, I realize, but I apparently have a failing in my character when highly intoxicated, that attempts to blames others for my own lack of preparation. I shall address that failing forthwith and be a better man for it.
Get a SECOND fridge for beer! Stock up on Monday (just before watching game-film). While I usually have to stop due to being bloated rather than intoxicated, I still cannot run out of beer (or chips, salsa, smoked meat, peach cobbler, ice cream…well, all those things are necessary, right?)
Try Mekhong whisky and coke. Something in it keeps you awake. Perhaps the formaldehyde

Good advice! I can only grill before night games. Grilling after a game is too dangerous since I am distracted by joy or distressed beyond reason. At my age, my single live-in family member respects my football agenda and I have my viewing room to myself all day. As for equipment, I am surprised that I didn’t need new equipment due to viewer destruction during last season, but I think I was too shocked by some outcomes to brutalize the defenseless box or flatscreen.
I think I am READY. I will take your test-run advice on an upcoming pro game.

After 59 years of following Sooner football I have it all down.
The only thing I do differently each year is trade in my one year old dvr at the end of August so I don’t have any fears of a glitchy hard drive.
That’s a very good idea.

You are truly set. I’m beginning to wonder why after 24 years of going to games in frequently crappy weather why I didn’t follow your lead and watch big screen high def TV in comfortable chairs at home years ago?. No bathroom lines, no drunk’s beer farts wafting in the stands, cheaper food & drinks,, no rain or extreme summer heat, no annoying female s getting up to go to the bathroom every 10 minutes. I could have bought a number of 70″ TVs over the years for what I’ve spent on tickets.
JB, I get out for one home game a year. This year it’s the WVU game. Next year will be the Ohio State game with my family, one of my younger brothers and his wife that is a tOSU alumni. Other than that I am chilling at the house, on the edge of my seat, screaming like a banshee for the Sooners. A neighbor here in So. Cal is a big Tennessee fan, so he and his family are coming over to watch that game. And yes, when I show up at Memorial Stadium they do say….”Welcome Back Cotter.”

Question: Not counting those here who never drink (like EasTex) , am I the only one who does not and never (okay, once) has imbibed before or during games? I’ve never wanted my senses dulled in any way during games.
As a student, there were plenty of game days where I woke up hungover as hell, but I had my own game day ritual to clear that up. I always woke up in the morning, usually sixish, and I kept a gallon jug of ice water in my mini-fridge. I’d take 4 ibuprofen, drink that gallon of water over the course of a half hour. I would always be the only person awake in the fraternity house, so I’d jump in the shower and take about a 45 minute hot shower since I had a virtually limitless hot water supply. I’d get dressed, watch a little ESPN, eat lunch when family arrived, then walk to the stadium and cheer until I was hoarse.
I think the only time I ever consumed alcohol during a game was taking a small swig-not a gulp- from a frat brother’s flask at the cotton bowl in 1993 when we beat ut 38-17. I didn’t enjoy that swig either.
1st post. Learned the valuable lesson of watching games at home almost a decade ago. 55″ Led TV, tempurpedic bed, surround sound, case of guinness in beer fridge and bathroom 10 feet away, at halftime I walk out the backyard and play a par 5 and a par 3 before the second half starts. And the best….I don’t have to drive home.
It’s still better in person. Especially with all the upgrades coming.
I’m sure I’ll catch a game this year as I’ve always enjoyed the game atmosphere. But it was always a family affair for us which made it fun. Now, my father’s no longer with us, mom’s too old and physically unable to go to games, my brother works Saturdays (and his wife is an oSu fan), and my sister, the other OU grad in the family, lives in Dallas and works many, many hours, often through the weekend. It just isn’t as fun to go to the games as it used to be. Yeah, I’ve gone with friends but again, it isn’t the same. Enjoying the game with family was always the most fun.
I spend a lot of time on Amazon today, looking for upgrades. Sent my ascot and smoking robe to the dry cleaners. Placed an add for hired-help to verbalize loudly at the teli.

Being married to a Razorback (she’s alumna)…I can definitely relate to the respectfulness of family members portion of this.

This is fantastic advice! TV – check. Sound – It will do. Cable – changing to better provider this weekend. Family member replacement can be tricky though. Its like recruiting, it takes time and commitment (pun intended). However, I don’t think I can replace the spousal unit as she has purchased tickets for my son and I to attend the TCU game. So as much as I get annoyed when she yells at me for yelling at the TV, I think I am going to keep her around.
Well sounds like Duct Tape might not work in her situation. In such cases sending her shopping is often the best tactic.
actually replacing a worn out unit with a newer, younger model is the best call to make. a person is usually happier and can sleep better.

Crimson blackout drapes and Creme walls. 70 inch Samsung TV with surround sound. Reclining theater seating for four. OU stadium rug and several OU fatheads. Bar with two bar stools. She does get a little loud when screaming at the TV though.

No kidding. In fact just last week he reported that there are rumors that OU might be upgrading the stadium and some of the facilities.
Are you sure he is in Norman? According to everything I heard ( except for what was posted on here last night) he has been in contact with Coach Bowlware and Coach Gundy and has preliminarily enrolled, but was still in McAlester as of last night. I’ve heard he hasn’t yet talked with Stoops about rejoining the team.

I think there could be a good chance to get Moore and hopefully Little just because of the state of the OL right now. Next year, NIla, Ty, Farniok, St. John, all gone. The competition in my opinion will be more wide open than this year. Orlando will probably be the only guy to hold down the LT spot. We’re losing OLs almost as fast as we’re gaining them.

I’ll be leaving for basic and AIT in just one week from Tuesday. So if Super K or anyone else has any big news for me, Tuesday would be the day to do it since I’ll be having to turn my phone off till December when I come back!! I’ve watched OU games my whole life and this is going to be difficult!! I made the mistake of telling my sister that missing OU football was going to be the hardest thing for me while I’m gone. I forgot that my girlfriend was sitting next to me and also that my sister is getting married the weekend of Thanksgiving. Needless to say I got blasted by both of them! ha Boomer!!!

Army National Guard. 45th infantry division. I’ll be a basic rifle infantryman. I’ve already graduated college, just looking to get out of my comfort zone and make myself a better person. Short term sacrifice leads to long-term gain. I’ll have to watch the games on YouTube when I get back December 10th.

In basic you will learn team building, if one member of your squad fails you all fail. Cooperation is crucial. I couldn’t shine boots/shoes to the high luster like some did. I found another guy that had the same issue, but we were bunk dressing SOBs, so we did the bunks for the guys that would shine our boots/shoes. Always a solution to a problem.

Best of luck to you. My grandfather was an infantryman in the 45th during WWII. Landed at Anzio, fought the Nazi’s, received 3 purple hearts. He had some incredible stories. That guy was greatness!

I love bringing in all Okies at once like this with no out of staters. Start building the relationships between these guys. Get the majority to commit and they will put heavy pressure on the others to come along. Bring back some of that Okie fire we have been missing.
How ironic is it that not more than 7 months ago a large portion of the fan base was up in arms about the state of our future at LB. Now we are debating about who we want to jump first at the last open spot(s) in this cycle before the season even begins.

Yeah ironic I don’t think is the word but it has done a 180 degree turn recently with signing DeBerry & McGinnis last year and Jon-Michael Terry, Bryce Youngquist, and Pernell Jefferson verbal commits this year and still sitting in a good place with Caleb Kelly, Jordan Carmouche, Dontavious Jackson, and Michael Divinity is sure differnet that it has been at OU in a long time at LB

There’s definitely a lot be optimistic about with the most recent guys. I think there was a lot of criticism outside of just here about the LB’s and the defense in general and it lit a fire under some of the coaching staff. I don’t know how many more LB’s will commit, maybe Divinity and Kelly. I’m not expecting Carmouche or Jackson at this time, to be honest. It should be exciting to see the LB core grow this season though.
I agree with this statement, last real good recruiting class at LB was when Wort, R. Lewis, G, Jones, and J, Bird all came in and statistically speaking it was our highest rated class, but really none of them where great, let’s be honest and that was BV recruits. It’s just a matter of finding the right kid to play for you, Travis Lewis was a RB became a hell of a LB. Exciting to be in on some great kids this year. Think OU fans want all LB’s to be Lehman, Calmus, Marshall, Lofton, Dan Codyor the Boz lol, not likely but we have been blessed at the LB position. Hope that all these kids are what we need them to be.

Agree. DeBerry and McGinnis got OU moving in the right direction and early word is DeBerry is going to be as good as hoped. Still have to get these ‘verbals’ signed, but with the current verbals and hopefuly Kelly and still looking at taking Terry and having to turn away some kids that were at the top of the board…yeah.
I actually liked the class of Bolton, Evans, and Bond the year before…McQuinnie (sp) as well but he didn’t qualify…Bond is going to make plays for us this year..Evans and Bolton both add some decent depth inside was well…we took inside guys that year (besides Bond) and OLBs the next cycle

I might just be a little salty but… When harbaugh went Michigan I thought it was great! Great for college football in general to have him and Meyer renewing that rivalry and I always kinda liked as a coach and his personality. But did you guys hear about them switching to Jordan brand? Like I said I might just be salty but he is really getting on my nerves with the stunts he is pulling… I know he sent like lil Wayne a Michigan jersey and I think some other celebs. Sending letters to recruits girlfriends… There has been other stunts he has pulled too that I can’t think of off the top of my head too. It just seems he is trying to persuade recruits with anything except football and school, and feel like he is kinda making a joke of college football. I just not too many kids make decisions based off these things and realize they made a mistake and screw up their future because of it I guess.

It is fascinating that he is being very successful at it yet no one else wants to try it. I was thinking earlier today after watching some of our old clips how stunningly effective a pitch can be when the person is already coming at full speed, unblocked, to receive the ball, and how we ought to have it in our tool bag for a few special occasions with the amazing talent we have at running back. No one is going to outrun Ross, get a hand on Mixon or even think about stopping Perine with a simple tackle when they’re already full out heading up field. Maybe it is just a fantasy but it would sure burn some people if we did pull it. Not the whole triple option- just a well done, quick lateral preplanned up the sideline…

From my Friday beer drinking point of view, the wishbone option is risky but a thing of beauty when practiced and properly executed. The forward pass was once considered risky but when practiced and executed is very rewarding. Combining the two with a catch and pitch as an offensive game plan as opposed to a trick play is crazy and brilliant. If practiced enough I could see it working for a while.

As the article mentioned, trick plays usually work well because they are unexpected.
Now everyone and their mother knows whats coming when he yells rugby.
1- They know its a pass
2- They know its going to be a short route, dont have to worry about flags, posts, go routes, etc.
3- they know the guy is looking to pitch as soon as he catches it
Gaining possessions by not punting/onside kicks is fairly easy to calculate the risk vs reward.
Basing your offense around trick plays all the time has entirely too many variables to draw an accurate conclusion, unless he has some sort of complex algorithm that takes all those variables into account, which i kinda doubt.
I agree with exiled, drawing conclusions off statistics can be a dangerous thing. If your interpretation is wrong, your conclusion will be too.
I’m not pumping this coach, don’t know or follow him, but every crazy hair brained idea he has tried so far has worked regardless of the ridicule. I’m just curious to see if this next experiment of his produces anything. LOL.

He probably needs a rs even though he’s a solid player and already pretty big. But he’s had no college workout regiment so there’s no way he would be able to contribute at a high level this season.
That’s exactly the reason I think texsa is screwing themselves by slow playing this thing. In the end it’s really not going to matter this year.
I don’t have a problem with texsa on this issue. I think strong has to take a hard stance with where their program is. If he gets walked all over by one recruit who felt misled, who happens to have made it known OU is a very possible destination, then what will stop the next kid from doing the same thing.
Stoops is at a point in his career where he can and should be more PC.

I just wish the person who told TFB he was at practice had a photo to let TFB post and clear the air. Especially since it seems the OU football Twitter account has been trying to refute TFB reports.
This is why I questioned this report earlier this morning. I found it rather doubtful that he was at an early morning practice when a reporter supposedly spoke with him last night at his girlfriends house in McAlester.
I will repeat what I’ve heard. He has spoken with coaches Gundy and Boulware, but that’s it. Reports of his return are premature IMO.
There is a skunk in the chicken house when it’s reported that he was at practice then a statement comes out that he was not……someone is being played here.
With the addition of lampkin this class is going to be one of the deepest in recent memory no weekness at any position.

Edit: Second attempt fails for Landry as well. Had a nice 3rd down conversion for 17 yards, then 3 straight incompletions and a sack on 4th down. Finishes 24-46, 200 yds, 1 TD. Man needs a big game next time out, or this might be it in Pittsburgh for him.

I think TCU or BU would have done just fine last yr if picked for the ball. It’s a toss up every yr, IMO, on who will win out of 4 teams picked. It could have been them as well as OSU.
As a truck driver, I listen to a lot of college football talk siriusxm. Yesterday had a program on with SI Andy Staples, he picked OU over baylor and tcu to win Big12
I can definitely see that happening if all the pieces come together but… that really depends on a lot of players that have never even played in crimson and cream. I hope he’s right though.
I don’t know, the O-line seems to be tight with all players with some experience to previous starters, receivers getting much better, the D being improved and Cody seemingly moving up in the QB battle, I like the similarities of this team to the 2008 and the 2000 teams. Staples pointed to Stoops history after down years as his basis along with superior talent and incredible attitude that is leaking out of fall camp with the players.
The experience at LB gets overlooked by some. If our secondary is as improved as we all hope then we will wreck havoc on defense.
So can I, for the same reasons you mentioned. We do seem to have our DBs back, plus the backups (hardly any at S) and some talented new backups who may be playing full time by BU/TCU. I see a big jump in the DBs b/c they have a year under their belt of seeing B12 Os, more pressure on QB this yr (rushing 4 instead of 3 pretty much playing contain the QB). LBs better than we’ve been in a while, plus depth, DL I think will be improved w/Walker and Tapper. Tapper had health issues I see fixed for this year, plus we have much better depth at all positions across the front. I see 3 QBs who can play in this system and look good, and the best RBs in the nation, plus depth there, and better WRs than we’ve had in a long time. I see a big improvement over last yr and we weren’t that far off last yr.

Where do we stand on scholly numbers for 2016? For the sake of this question lets assume Dalton Wood either doesn’t show or doesn’t stay.
OU currently has 12 seniors on scholarship and 81 total scholarship holders.
That does NOT count anyone who is NOT here (Roberts, Wood, Lampkin) and anyone not currently on scholarship (Baxter).
Doing the simple math, if all 4 of these players end up here and on scholly, that’s 85.
Usually you have 6-10 schollies open a year due to attrition (leaving early for NFL, dismissal, transfers, quitting football), so expect a class of 20+-2.
Don’t forget Nick Hodgson. I know that won’t affect next years numbers as he is a SR, but apparently Stoops said he would put him on scholarship.
He’s counted; so is the punter Jack Steed.
The 12 seniors are: Neal, Shepard, St John, Darlington, Kasitati, Farniok, Tapper, Striker, Bond, Lindley, Shannon, and Hodgson.

I’m not good at the draft, but certainly Shep, Darlington, Kasitati, Tapper and Striker are draft possibilities. That’s 5. Bond and Shannon are possible for late round or free agent signings.. Hodgson should get signed as a free agent.

On offense, the most important needs clearly are 1 more OG, 1 OC, & 1 RB. On defense, the more important needs are at least 1 3-technique DT (Lampkin would fit here), 1 inside LBer, and 1 more OLBer (Kelly). That’s 6. Even if Jarvis Baxter earns a schollie, they probably will take 1 more WR, 1 OT, 1 DE, 1 more 3DT, 1 NT, & 1 more CB. That’s another 6 for a total of 12 for a class of 22, which would require attrition of 9.

No body wants to touch this. No matter what is reported Dalton is going to make you look like a fool. The problem obviously has not been with the reporting but rather with Dalton. Reporters have to begin to ask themselves if they can take Dalton at his word. Can you believe anything Dalton says he is going to do?
Not sure I follow. I believe the question Lane Gilstrap and others have been asking is whether Dalton Woods is in Norman as TFB reported he was, or is he not, as everyone else is saying? Did Dalton attend yesterday’s practice as reported by TFB, or did he not? As you are aware, OU Football put out a statement saying Dalton was not at practice and has not reported to Norman. It is hard for me to imagine the football team putting out that info if it were not true.
I just wish TFB would address this issue in some manner. Either say that they stand by their story and explain why, or say that their information or sources may have been wrong. Lots of people are wanting to know what is going on.

I still have no problem with how they handled draper. I was more concerned about the 2016 class which if everyone stays on board and if they add Kelly and possibly another (not bundage) then they can turn their focus to 2017.
Oh, I didn’t have a problem with how they handled Draper either. Rather, I’m saying I really want Brown, and I can’t understand why they haven’t offered him yet.
And fwiw he tweeted out that he had a productive day so I take it an offer might have been made or should be expected soon.
I share the same concern. We need to bring in the best in-state talent. It’s great to get highly rated players but your core should still be strong with in-state guys who’ve lived and breathed OU football and understand the rivalries like OU-Texas on a level beyond just, “Oh yeah, it’s a big game.” I hope they put the full court press on Levi and Tre

TFBers, how is your season preparedness planning going? Have you come up
with your list of items/relationships that need to be upgraded or replaced?
One item you may want to consider is your emergency treatment
kit. Remember there are three kinds of emergencies that your kit may need
to treat.
1) Medical emergencies. Keep in mind that the goal of your
medical emergency kit is to keep anyone having a medical emergency stable and
pain free until after the game is over. You don’t want to have to deal
with ambulances and police sirens in the middle of the game. We recommend at
least three pints of blood per family member cross matched with their blood type.
Sufficient sedatives for all family members is recommended. These
can also come in handy if a family member is being disruptive during the game.
2) Tailgating emergencies. We recommend purchasing a spare
refrigerator and or freezer for keeping tailgating supplies on hand. As a
good Sooner fan, it’s important to be an ambassador for the world’s greatest
football team. We also need to be prepared to perform intervention for
those people that have become addicted to dangerous substances such as ESPN or
SEC. Inviting them to watch a Sooner game can be the first step in their
recovery and that means being able to feed them right. So stock up.
3) Football emergencies. Unfortunately there is
little we can do as fans to prevent football emergencies. All we can do
is treat them after the fact. The best treatment for a football emergency
is copious quantities of ethyl alcohol. Make sure and label it properly,
you don’t want to drink the isopropyl alcohol in the medical kit. You may
want to try one of the various forms of flavored ethanol since large quantities
may need to be consumed.
Finally don’t forget the Duct Tape.

I did see KU, ISU, OSU and KState in there as well… a definite, deliberate snub but who really gives a s#it about espn anyway? Amateurs.
Well from a marketing perspective, which is what I do, it’s not good. ESPN has a very broad reach, especially with recruits. So you want to win and win big when you’re on a nationally televised channel. It’s all about getting that brand awareness, my friend.
The next 3 weeks is going to be excruciating. Having to wait to see this new offense open a can of Whoop-A$$ on Akron. If the D plays half as well as I hope they do, it will be a laugher by half. Would love to see the “Hang half a hunerd by halftime”.

Just as I remember it. Zone read worked some, Tenn goofed up several reads on D. OU Receivers did make catches. The Tenn 1st half TD (made it 13-7 at the time) came after a third and 10+ was successful on a 4 yd pass and missed CB tackle followed by a safety turned around for a long TD – a snippet of problems all season.
On the bright side, that WAS then and this is a different team.
Very exciting times ahead.
