– Jean Delance: I’m sure many Sooner fans assumed that things between Delance, the former OU commit, and the Sooners were done after the SAE incident and Delance’s very public decommitment.

However, it appears that may not be the case.

The talented 2016 offensive tackle actually reached out to TFB on Monday and shared that he is tentatively planning to use one of his five official visits for another trip to Norman. Delance also added that he is hoping to make it back to the OU camps for an unofficial visit later this summer. In talking with him, it was hard not to get the sense that things are far from dead between he and the Sooners.

The relationship between Delance and Bill Bedenbaugh has proved to be a lasting one and the OU offensive line coach has done anything but throw in the towel. – (Brandon)

– Nick McCann: As most of our readers know, one of our greatest joys is to introduce you all to unknown or ‘under the radar’ talent. Yesterday, we had the pleasure of introducing you all to Teton Saltes, who in the last 24 hours has heard from and/or expecting to be visited by Arizona State, Ohio State & Oklahoma.

A new 2016 defensive tackle prospect we want to introduce you all to is Nick McCann out of Texarkana, AR. Alex first came across McCann’s film then sent it over to me, and I was immediately intrigued. McCann is a 6’2″-6’3″ 290-pound defensive tackle with an absurd amount fluidity and athleticism to his game.

Most big guys can typically look awkward or off balance the further they are from the ball, especially when you line them up at a 5-tech or even a 7-tech and they simply don’t have the balance and/or the quickness play it effectively. Not, this kid though. It simply doesn’t matter where you line him up, he is explosive and balanced enough to beat the protection. And when he hits the ball carrier, they stay hit.

There is this wonderful combination of finesse and power to the way he plays that, as a future inside defensive lineman, I can imagine it will be very difficult for the slower offensive guards and/or centers to handle.

There are a number of incredibly impressive plays on his film, but among the many I like are those in which he manages to slow play the read-option and still make the play on the ball carrier. He’s 290 pounds but moves as fluidly as a true 240-pound defensive end!

I spoke with McCann’s coach yesterday, who simply raved about the young man. He said he’s been around a lot of ball players who have played at the next level and is absolutely convinced McCann has the ability to do the same.

One of the things I like to do when I’m evaluating talent is to speak to the coach and a parent in order to see what kind of support system the player has. And it was obvious right away in speaking to both McCann’s coach and his mother that he has wonderful people in his life who are supporting and pushing him to be the player he’s capable of being. All that, along with his God given talent and the development he’s already received, led me to believe McCann could have a really bright future as a high major D-I football player.

I have put McCann’s tape on multiple times over the past few days. When a player’s film gets me excited, I tend to do that. For your film lovers out there I’d strongly encourage you to take a look. Kudos again to Alex for finding this hidden gem of a prospect. – (Super K)

  • Ryan says:

Delance should focus on the schools in the SEC. No racism in those states.

    • Exiled In Ohio says:

Let’s cut the kid some slack … he’s only 17 and he’s getting a hard sell from a lot of coaches. If he is still interested in OU, we should be excited and support him.

  • Andrew Sundborg says:

That film on McCann is pretty impressive though that first play looks like there shoulda been a penalty for hit to the head

  • Borba22 says:

Also, we made the top 10/11 for the #30 overall player in the nation.

    • Eric Hoffpauir says:

That’s gotta be fun for Florida. WSU makes the list but he has a hard time deciding between Florida and Arizona State?

  • Cole says:

They need Austin Kendall to get on him also. I’ve been creeping on his Twitter to see who he’s been following. I really want them to land Duvernay and vaughns would just be icing on the top.

  • Lane Gilstrap says:

I feel a little torn on the Delance situation. Part of me wants to say hit the road Jean and go find a school without a single racist. However a small part of me wants to be the better person and say come back Jean and we will put 85,000 people in the stands that will support you.

  • bjwalker82 says:

Jean Delance used the SAE thing as an excuse to decommit (in my opinion), I’m not sure I’d trust what that guy says. February is a ways away so we’ll see.

  • Wilson says:

Watching the Longhorn Spring game…News Flash…Ridgeway (DT) is a freaking beast. I think the Big12 is going to be tougher this year. First one that can stop the other from scoring 40+ wins. Texas does have some athletes and the Strong Effect may be taking hold. Anticipation of this season for me is off the charts. If OU can pull it all together with the new coaches and schemes it will really be fun. TCU, Texas (pftt), OU, WVU, KSTATE, Baylor, OkieState (ugh)….this will get interesting…just my opinion though…

    • SoonerfanTU says:

KSU might be terrible. Their offense is going to be pretty mediocre.

      • Wilson says:

We seem to say that about every other year..rarely happens though.

      • SoonerGoneEast says:

That’s what the Wizard would have you believe.

      • Rick says:

KSU often will often under Snyder, average a 2 star team, on both sides of the ball and kick some serious a**. Overlooking them historically would be a major mistake in the past. That old man is a helluva coach and his players love and respect him. I’m a hard core Sooner fan and Coach S. has my full respect.

      • Indy_sooner says:

Yet we’ve lost 2 out of the last three years to them… 🙁

        • SoonerfanTU says:

I didn’t say they were bad last year. Or two years ago. I’m saying they shouldn’t be very good next year. Maybe terrible wasn’t a very good choice of words, but they are replacing a LOT of talent on the offensive side of the ball. QB. Best two WR’s. They looked pretty bad this spring. They probably aren’t a top 5 team in the Big 12 next year.

          • Indy_sooner says:

Gotcha. Lockett brings bad memories. Somehow, KSU is a thorn in stoops a$s. They play fundamentally sound defense, even with the lack of talent.

    • Indy_sooner says:

Strong is a defensive guy… but I doubt that they would repplace Malcolm Brown’s experience. If they do, we’ll go all air raid

    • Stephen Dale says:

If TCU doesn’t win the Little 12-2 this year , Texas might……

    • OceanDescender says:

Played with Ridge back at Mansfield HS a few years back when he was pretty raw and new to it all. Based off of just pure athleticism, nobody on the team could move him back off the ball. He’s a big dude that OU might just need to call plays away from if this is the year that he starts dominating college ball.

  • Wilson says:

    Nick McCann – uh…dang! That is all….

  • Reuben63 says:

if Mcann came we’d have him and Gallimore, Debarry and Overton that would be freaking scary ! through in Hulkahoma oh man. Im really getting excited to see the pass rush finally getting pin your ear back type defenders. were gonna need them when Styker goes Pro.

  • Boom says:

little late to the party but watching him was enjoyable and makes you grin.

  • TheFuerte says:

So on my way to class today, I catch Joe Wickline in our fieldhouse. He is apparently recruiting the fort worth area today. Gave the horns down. Juvenile of me?

    • Kody K. says:

Not juvenile at all. You just made me your friend!

    • Sooner 4Ever says:

Juvenile? No. Hell, he’s a former stoolwater aggie who’s now a whorn. If I had been there, he’d have been lucky if I only flashed the horns down instead of giving him the double middle finger. LOL

    • EasTex says:

It’s occasions like that where having the “Boomer Sooner” ringtone comes in handy. I always seem to check my ringtone volume level whenever I encounter an obvious Texsa fan.

  • dallassooner says:

You guys need to quit hating on Delance. Dude committed early then got huge offers (Texas, Ohio State, etc) got cold feet about his early commitment and yeah I think the SAE thing gave him an easy out.

Now he’s back to looking at us and ya’ll are still whining about his decommitment. It’s the way the recruiting game goes.

  • Doobie74OU says:

McCann seems like a perfect player for the “Multiple” looks the OU defense wants to give. He looks incredible hard to block as a 3-Tech but has the ability to slid out in a odd front (for OU) and not look lost or get beat on the edge. Great Athlete!

  • Kody K. says:

It’s obvious that McCann loves the game of football with his enthusiastic “coming to get you” energy. His high octane rush is explosive. I’d love to see how this kid does in the future.

  • ccmosaic says:

Nick McCann is a beat. I have never seen a true DT play the DE and TE spot with such athletic ability. I love this kid. Whoever gets this kid will get a winner. If he has the right head on his shoulders and does not get bit by the major injury in college he could have a career in the NFL. Love what I saw.
By the way, Super K or any Brainiac, do you all forward any of this info to the OU coaches? Do you know if they know about this kid and if OU is willing to give him a look?

  • Mr. Jones says:

Does McCann have any offers right now?

    • Super K says:

No, by the time we found him his hudl highlights had like 43 views. So not many coaches knew about him

      • thill says:

Any idea why? Texarkana is not really off the radar in terms of football talent. Curious why everyone is so late on him. Looks like a beast.

        • Doobie74OU says:

Looks like his sophomore year he played at 6’2″ 245lbs. Coaches probably overlooked him as a undersized DE at 6’2″ and his athleticism not as outstanding at 245lb. But at 290lb, he seems Crazy Athletic!

  • Indy_sooner says:

I am optimistic as anyone, but I feel like Delance will end up being next year’s Lampkin. DejaVu all over with all the early commits. I’m glad Coach B doesn’t share that mindset.

    • hOUligan says:

Or Wariboko. Not going to get caught up in what some 16-17 yr old has to say. Either you want to be a Sooner or you don’t. If you don’t, good luck to you.

  • hOUligan says:

Thanks, K. I like hearing about the linemen out there. WR and DBs, too, and with OUr O and playing in the B12, guess those are the positions that we are going to hear about most as they will occupy the majority of roster slots. Saltes yesterday and McCann today. Would love seeing either or both playing for OU. And I for one hope Delance ends up at OU.

  • Slim Sooner says:

Whoa. I’m no great evaluator of film, but McCann looks nasty! I would allow an offer. Thanks, K.

  • TheFuerte says:

The big man is on campus! Bill Bedenbaugh doing the rounds in North Fort Worth area.

  • CS says:

So, McCann seems to be be whipping the b*tts of some kids in Orange! I will gladly take him and put a Crimson jersey on him to make this look even better!!

  • C.A. says:

just watched the film of this kid and was beyond impressed. whoever lands this kid gets a “tommie harris” type of player just dominant.

  • rphokc says:

would be nice to hear something about reynolds on the recruiting trail at some point…..

  • Sooner Ray says:

Been deep in the mud this evening, had my arm elbow deep down the throat of a horse opening an airway so it’s nice to sit down and see all this impressive player film before hitting the sack.

    • EasTex says:

At least you were working on the intake and not the exhaust pipe.

      • Sooner Ray says:

Yes sir, lol. I’ve spent time on both ends of equine and bovine. The eating end is always easier.

        • JD says:

          Dang..poor horse…what happened…gonna make it…you might be my new best friend..lol…love horses!

          • EasTex says:

Probably burglarized the tack room and got into a barrel of feed.
Hate it when they do that.

          • JD says:

Yeah I got one that eats too fast…he use to be so bad that he’d start slobbering because it would get jammed up…I’d massage it a bit to help him digest it …I quit using that feed after it was all gone…put a small salt block in the feed to try and slow him down too lol..it helped

          • Sooner Ray says:

I’m gonna put water on this one’s feed tomorrow just to be safe.

          • JD says:

Is it one of those blends of feed…I forgot what it was called …came from MAC…but it had three or four diff textures and the way mine ate it just lodged up…had to slow him down and quit using that mixture

          • Sooner Ray says:

I’ve been on small pellet feed for years, even with a clog they tend Ito dissolve quickly with a little assistance.

          • Sooner Ray says:

Ate too fast and went down choking. Horses can’t puke so you’ve got to dig the clog. Just went out and spot lighted the pasture…he’s walking around so should be good.

          • JD says:

I had trouble with a blend one time with one of my fast eaters…fortunately I was able to massage it down from the outside and try and get him to eat slower with a small salt block in his feeder

          • EasTex says:

Had one burgle the tack room and ate almost an entire 30 gallon can of feed. He was all bloated and had to stay up with him almost all night in the cold walking him so he wouldn’t flounder.
            Danged thief.

          • JD says:

I was getting ready to say…lucky he didn’t founder…I have a nice container that holds 20 sacks at a time with a latch..I’d don’t think Mr. Ed could get in there

          • EasTex says:

That old pony was a master thief, I had to double padlock the door. He ripped one lock and latch off the building.

          • JD says:

            Dang…master thief indeed!

          • Sooner Ray says:

I’ve also done the block in the feeder trick. This wasn’t a feed issue, it was a new horse in the adjacent stall and some nervous energy that created the problem.

          • JD says:

how do you use the horses

          • Sooner Ray says:

Mine is a roping horse, my wife and her daughter do everything from barrels to jumping and they all have done trails, parades, etc.

          • JD says:

That’s cool..I did some of that (not barrels) when I was younger…race racers now..but I get to be around them every day and this is that time of year when they foal

Yes she has, my wife is a big fan.

          • EasTex says:

Went to many an event out at her ranch.

  • EasTex says:

This just in, James Harden is a baaad man.

  • EasTex says:

McCann sure looks good on video.
Might be difficult to convince him not to keep the same helmet logo and mascot name.

    • Sooner Ray says:

      That got my attention also.

      • EasTex says:

You familiar with the battle of the border?
You’ve got a Texarkana high in Texas and Arkansas and they have an annual grudge match. They call themselves Arkansas High and use the Hogs image and name, while what is called Texas High uses orange, but goes by the Tigers.
Back when Arkie and Texsa were SWC rivals it got really heated in Texarkana.
        https://youtu.be/9hXBW-wPeic

        • Sooner Ray says:

That sounds like an opportunity for a good BBQ.

        • Sooner 4Ever says:

My wife’s former boss (who is now a good family friend) was a stud DB at Texas High in the late 70’s and he has told us a few stories about the intracity/ interstate rivalry. Got pretty heated back in the day.

          • EasTex says:

            LOL!
            Sure did.
Not quite as bad as it was between Marshall and Longview, but pretty intense.

  • EasTex says:

I sure don’t understand what is going on with the baseball team unless their coach being in the hospital is messing with their heads.

  • J J says:

I mean somebody’s gotta speak up he’s got 2 strikes in orange already & in the middle of a little cat fight between Boone & texsa… Lol, what a hot mess

  • EasTex says:

I saw a tweet that said OU stopped by to visit Bubba Hall in Sulphur Springs. I for one am not impressed with this young man’s game and don’t understand what it is the coaches may find interesting about him. I’ve watched his video and since my old high school is in the same district his name has never come up in any discussion on forums or in sports story lines.
    http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Bubba-Hall-169555

    • JD says:

With our limited spots I doubt he ever gets an offer (hope not) unless he really puts it together his senior year or we miss on a lot of guys

      • EasTex says:

I don’t see him as offer worthy at all.
His video only shows him making good plays against poor teams, and I know the teams they played.

  • Wilson says:
