– Visitor List: If you haven’t been keeping track, we’ve made a number of additions to this weekend’s visitor list throughout the week. It’s shaping up to be one of the busiest recruiting weekends OU’s had in recent memory.

Brandon Stephens: Just a quick note on 2016 RB and Stanford commit, Brandon Stephens (Plano, TX). Stephens told me that his trip to OU this weekend will be for an unofficial visit. This makes sense because of the proximity of Plano to Norman, however it also seems to indicate Stephens’ interest in taking additional visits following this weeked.

Stephens has been talking about taking a visit to Oklahoma for quite a while, so the fact that it’s finally happening is a big thing. Although the Sooners offered Stephens just this fall, Jay Boulware has been recruiting Stephens for quite some time so a relationship had been established. This will actually be a return trip to Norman for Stephens, as he camped at OU about three years ago. – (Alex & Super K)

Josh Proctor: On Wednesday evening Oklahoma offered 2018 defensive back, Josh Proctor (Owasso, OK). When the offer happened I spoke to Proctor about it being his first, and a big one at that. Proctor said he called Sooners defensive backs coach Kerry Cooks before church. At that time he spoke with Cooks but also said, “I spoke to about five different coaches. They passed the phone around. I even spoke with Bob Stoops.”

“I was speechless. I don’t even remember what coach actually offered me,” the talented OK Preps prospect said. Needless to say the offer meant a great deal and Proctor is wasting no time in getting over to Norman, as he plans to be in attendance for this weekend’s TCU game.

For Oklahoma to offer Proctor so early says something about his upside. He is very much like another OK Preps standout, early OU offer, and current star safety, Steven Parker. Proctor has a lot of similar aspects in his game to that of Parker, both being rangy, long athletes who can cover better than you’d think a safety their size would be able to do. Even being a 2018 kid, Proctor is already quite polished for someone his age. This is a great offer by OU and will be the first of many for Proctor.

While it’s still early in the process, Proctor is clearly someone to keep an eye on as Kerry Cooks has already shown he can seal up recruits much earlier than OU has done in previous classes. – (Brandon)

Tight End Position | JC Chalk: Oklahoma had been recently recruiting TE/H-back Blake Williams (Mustang, OK). We were told by Williams’ family that Oklahoma’s recruitment of the talented athlete has slowed significantly all of a sudden. We had been told by a source that Clemson commit JC Chalk (Argyle, TX) was OU’s top target, and they continued to recruit him despite his commitment.

Although we have not been able to confirm how interested Chalk is in the Sooners, with OU slowing their recruitment of Williams it may very well be they feel like they’re making progress with Chalk. There were rumors this past summer that Chalk wanted to visit OU, however, as most of you know Clemson has a very strict policy on current commits visiting other schools. So even if Chalk plans on visiting, he likely won’t say anything. Just something to keep an eye on. – (Super K)

Trystan Castillo: Missouri 2016 offensive line commit Trystan Castillo (Webb City, MO) will make his way down to Norman this weekend to visit Oklahoma. I caught up with Castillo who said OU has not yet offered him but, “he (Bedenbaugh) told me he sees me as a offer guy…he just wants to meet me in person.”

Castillo says that he’s picking up a lot of interest these days from Big 10 schools like Wisconsin and Minnesota (the latter of whom offered on Monday). He’s certainly a guy who is hoping to come away with an offer this weekend and should it happen, I get the sense the Sooners would have a real chance at flipping him. – (Brandon)

Blake Hickey: Another offensive lineman committed elsewhere (Kansas State) that will be in Norman this weekend is Blake Hickey (Godley, TX). Hickey says he and Bedenbaugh speak regularly and feels like the fact he hasn’t been seen in person may be holding Oklahoma back from offering. He’s hoping this weekend will remedy that. I asked Hickey what an OU offer would mean to which he said, “if I did get an offer, I would definitely think about it. It would take some time to make the right decision.” – (Brandon)

Jackson Winrow: I recently came across an under the radar 2016 in-state WR that I think deserves some attention. His name is Jackson Winrow out of Shawnee, Oklahoma. Winrow is a 6’2 WR/CB who really just started playing WR last year. He didn’t play his sophomore year and prior to that had always played QB/RB, so he just started learning the position. But he’s absolutely a D-I player on film, in my opinion.

As far as I know, none of the in-state programs know about Winrow. But I suspect they will soon. – (Super K)
