Baylor Releases: As many of you surely know by now, Baylor announced Thursday evening they had granted a release to all five 2016 signees who had requested out of their respective NLIs. Those players included: Parrish Cobb, Patrick Hudson, JP Urquidez, Dovovan Duvernay & Kam Martin.

The Sooners are interested in/would take Hudson, Cobb & Urquidez. However, it is our understanding Hudson is not considering Oklahoma at this time. – (Super K)

Parrish Cobb: We’ve spoken with a few folks regarding Cobb’s situation, including both his mother and father. In terms of a decision timeline, Cobb’s father tells TFB, “maybe next week.” Cobb’s mother added they are “just celebrating the release right now, but hopefully he (Cobb) will be enrolled for next semester (meaning the second summer session).” She also went on to say, “we’re confident by next week the news (of his decision) will be out.”

As far as where he is headed, we’ve been told the top three schools under consideration are Oklahoma, TCU & Texas. We’ve also been told by sources on each respective side Cobb would be a take for all three schools, although there is a bit of a qualifier with one of those.

One source on the Texas side of things told TFB they certainly would like to add Cobb, but it could likely come down to a ‘first come, first serve’ type of situation simply due to the Horns’ scholarship numbers. Texas is believed to be a legit contender for each of the five players, but does not have room to take them all.

TFB has heard from some people around Cobb’s family that believe the talented 2016 cornerback wants to go to Texas. However the sense we get is that Cobb’s father is very interested in both Oklahoma and TCU.

We can tell you that in speaking to sources on all sides of this, the Cobb’s have not let any of the three schools know where they are headed just yet. – (Super K)

Jeffrey Okudah: You may have also seen on Thursday that elite 2017 DB Jeffrey Okudah, along with OU commits Robert Barnes & Chris Robison, were in Norman for yet another unofficial visit. TFB has learned the three stayed the night in Norman and will be on campus again on Friday.

We hope to catch up with Okudah later this weekend, but for now just wanted to reiterate the importance of this visit. Okudah has probably visited OU more than any other school and hasn’t been shy about the feeling of home he gets when in Norman. One source also shared with TFB that Okudah initiated this most recent trip, calling other OU commits to let them know his plans and see if they wanted to tag along.

Okudah is not only exceedingly talented but he is also scheduled to graduate in December. With the Sooners possibly losing the majority of the secondary to graduation and/or the draft, only increasing the importance of landing a talent like Okudah who would have the benefit of coming in early with a legitimate shot at early playing time. – (Super K)

Adrian Ealy: Back in May (here) we spoke with 2017 OL Adrian Ealy (Gonzales, LA), who said at the time he planned on visiting OU in early June. However, that time has come and gone with Ealy unable to make it up to Norman.

So TFB caught up with Ealy earlier this week to get an update on where things stand and if a visit was still forthcoming. Ealy said the plan as of right now is to use one of his five official visits to check out OU and has his sights set on the weekend of the Ohio State game.

Ealy is extremely high on OU, but comes with the always necessary caveat for any player from ‘the boot’ that he does have an LSU offer in-hand. That said, LSU does currently have three top offensive linemen committed already, so it will be interesting to see whether a spot will remain open for Ealy. If not, the Sooners may get a steal. – (Super K)

– Adrian Hardy: As evidenced by the comments section, many of you are aware of multiple reports stating 2016 WR signee Adrian Hardy has asked for and been granted a release by HC Bob Stoops. We have yet to confirm this independently, but have no reason to doubt the other reports out there.

And while losing now three — if you’re counting Michiah Quick’s move to CB — wide receivers before the start of fall camp certainly isn’t ideal, the Sooners already have a number of other options at WR on campus. So there should be no shortage of options despite these other personnel losses. – (TFB)

UPDATE (11:50 am): Last night there was quite a bit of debate about whether Patrick Hudson would visit Texas or Texas A&M this weekend. In an interesting plot twist, it appears he is visiting Oklahoma today.

– UPDATE: (Sat. 1:35 pm): One down, two to go.

– UPDATE: (Sun. 7:41 am):

– UPDATE: (Sun. 11:31 am): Well, alrighty then.

UPDATE (Sun., 1:53 pm): I have spoken to a few people regarding the Parrish Cobb situation. This is what I have been told. Cobb was scheduled to meet with Texas HC, Charlie Strong yesterday. Cobb was hours late. In the evening Strong let Parrish know that he would be able to meet with him in the morning. Cobb did not meet with Strong.

Why? I can’t answer that definitively. However, I have been told that Parrish favors Texas but Parrish’s father favors OU. This was a theme towards the end of his recruitment back in January and February. Cobb ended up at Baylor, I’m told, as a sort of compromise. Additionally, his mother preferred Baylor.

One source joked saying, maybe this time TCU will end up winning by default. I have been told that the Cobb’s would like to make a decision very soon, ideally this evening, but based on how this thing has played out so far, there is no way I would stand by any timeline.

Cobb has ties at both OU and Texas. At OU there is a support staff member who Parrish has known for quite some time. Also he is close to OU players Dede Westbrook and Kahlil Haughton. Cobb’s older sister graduated from Texas and his family member, Eric Cuffee is a freshmen DB at Texas. – (Super K)
