I don’t think it would take a rocket scientist to figure out why I worded the title of this post the way I did, but for posterity’s sake allow me to briefly explain. Through some combination of the injuries OU is currently dealing with, the players they’ve said and/or I’m expecting them to hold out (not necessarily due to an injury), and Bob Stoops’ long-standing policy of being deathly afraid of giving even the slightest of glimpses into what they’re working on with either side of the ball, I’m expecting to see very little in the way of substance on Saturday.
Therefore, I’ll be paying much closer attention to some of the individual performances. Whether it be guys we’ve heard have been performing well thus far and/or those I’ve just been personally interested to see on the actual field. And I even say that, of course, with the caveat of it still being a spring game and well aware of the history in said spring games of guys standing out only to never be heard from again. But I think most of us here are certainly well-versed enough to be able to distinguish the difference between someone like that and say a Dede Westbrook or Mark Andrews, for example.
And now with all of that out of the way, here are some of the guys I’ll be keeping my eye on.
* Baker Mayfield & Trevor Knight – I can fully appreciate I’m not breaking any news here, but it seems pretty disingenuous on my part to start anywhere else. We all know these two are the odds on favorites for the QB1 spot, just as we all know Mayfield is supposedly in the lead (or so we’ve been led to believe). And while I have no reason to doubt what I’ve been told or what I’ve read, I still feel like the coaches are going to give Knight every opportunity to win the job.
And not for any kind of favoritism reasons or the fact he was the starter for most of last year, but because it’s a genuine competition and they’re going to give the job to the guy who they believe gives them the best chance to win games.
Could that be Knight even after the inconsistencies we’ve seen the previous two years now? Sure, why the hell not? Now am I rooting for that? I wouldn’t go that far, but I think it would be foolish to just write off any chances Knight has of winning the job. Granted, I think most rational OU fans are intelligent enough to realize the coaches take a much different approach to things than some of us as fans would. So there isn’t anywhere near the disdain for some of what we’ve seen from Knight in the coaches offices as their is amongst Sooner Nation.
However, by all accounts Lincoln Riley’s system is MUCH less convoluted than what OU was previously running under Josh Heupel. So it’s not out of the question that a more simplified approach frees Knight up to stop over-thinking everything and look like a much improved QB, right?
All that said, if I had to put money on it right now I’d be betting on Mayfield. So in other words I just wasted your time with those previous three paragraphs, you’re welcome.
* Mark Andrews – Allow me to quote, well, myself from a post I wrote for TFB back in late February regarding:
“If you’re asking me to push all of my proverbial chips in to the middle of the table on one redshirt freshman “breaking out” next year, Andrews is that guy for me.”
So, yeah, I’m feeling pretty good about that one. Admittedly, I’m sure there were many others who felt that way at the time and probably even before I posted that around the end of February. However if we’re to believe what we are hearing out of spring practices, Andrews has been every bit the matchup nightmare we’re all hoping he will be in this revamped OU offense.
Working this kid out of the slot and getting him matched up with LBs on a consistent basis should be an near automatic moving of the chains, at a minimum.
* Offensive Tackles – I know we’ve heard they have been doing well — but I’ve been burned buying into that kind of talk before — and I know they’re far from short on talent, but if the season were starting today (and it’s obviously not, but such things are irrelevant when trying to illustrate your point) you’d be looking at a pair of OTs with a combined zero career starts and virtually very little, if any, playing experience at this level.
And whether it’s throwing the ball 50 times a game like I know some people still fear they’ll do or debunking that particular OU fan theory and maintaining more of the balance we’ve become accustomed to, either way there will be quite a bit asked of this offense line in 2015.
To be fair, OU has more than decent amount of talent in their front seven so if the OL struggles somewhat on Saturday I certainly won’t be sprinting to sound the alarms. But given that it will be our first, and only, chance to get a real sense of things with our own eyes, both OT spots will be something to keep an eye on.
* Steven Parker – With all due respect to guys like Eric Striker and Charles Tapper, in my book there may not be a more important player on this entire defense for the coming season than Parker. The fact Mike Stoops has already been quoted as saying how much they’re counting on the three 2015 safety signees who will be arriving later this summer should tell you pretty much all you need to know about where things stand on the back end of this defense right now.
Everyone believes Parker is a future star, but will he have the benefit of time to develop into that type of a player or be asked to do so as just a true sophomore. Based on what we’ve heard so far, me thinks it’s the latter.
* Dimitri Flowers – I feel like this name might be somewhat of a surprise, but you need think no farther back than this time last year. Remember Flowers standing out in last year’s spring game and then virtually never being used as a part of the offense during the season? Yeah, me too. I feel like it was also in the spring game (although I could be wrong), before he got hurt, where he caught a ball and at the time I was like “damn, that was a great catch, which wide receiver was that?” only to realize a second or two later it was actually Flowers.
I’m really curious to see how Riley plans to utilize Flowers in this offense. Based on what little we’ve seen of him during that first year, Flowers sure seems to me like the type of players who can create problems for an opposing defense.
There are almost assuredly a number of players higher on your own respective lists, but this is a kid I thought was really talented and I hope will flourish with a fresh start under a new OC.

I could go on, but then I’d probably name everyone else you’re thinking about and leave you with nothing to talk about. So comment below and give me some of the names you’re looking forward to seeing on Saturday.

I would include all safeties.. & all receivers…
I want to see Byrd and Thomas at Safety. We all saw how weak the safety position was last year. I want to see if it has improved. Honestly I want to see Byrd most of all. I felt like every time he made a mistake last year he was immediately pulled and never got another chance, but for some reason when Thomas made mistake he was allowed to keep playing. I hope they actually give Byrd a chance.
My surprise player to look for is Daniel Brooks he shined last year at spring game but in this offense it might actually fit him even better.
Brooks will certainly get plenty of touches on Saturday given that he and Alex Ross are the only RBs we know of that will be taking part in the scrimmage.
Did I miss something? I know Mixon is “suspended” from the spring game (initial deal or not, I think it’s ridiculous), but Perine? Is it precautionary or does he have some sort of nagging injury? Anderson is injured too, correct?
It’s so rediculous that they don’t let Joe Mixon play. He’s done his time. Let him play. Don’t forget about Alex Ross.
I agree that he’s done his time, that part is ridiculous. But I’m okay with him not playing. the farther he and others get away from the incident the better for him, IMO.
100% precautionary re: Perine. But, yes, Anderson is hurt (sprained MCL, no surgery req’d)
Such a shame too… would have been a great time to get to see the new young buck show his stuff with Mix & Perine out 🙁
While we/you may not like the fact that Mix won’t be playing it was part of the original agreement hashed out when discussing his future in the program. I would love to see him play as much as anyone but the fact is he has not yet served his full punishment until after this scrimmage. I did watch this sick highlight tape to get my “Mix-Fix” and suggest you do the same…Boomer!

I got the same feeling myself last season I think Thomas should play closer to the line of scrimmage seen him get beat in space to much
I want to see what Westbrook looks like and how the DBs do in covering him and Andrews. Should be fun…..I hope.
This is where I always get torn during spring games.
First thought: “WOW!! The offense looks fantastic. I can’t wait to see these guys tearing up defenses next year!!!:
30 seconds later…”But what if it’s just that our defense is that bad? We are gonna suck!!!”
Our defense looked so putrid against Baylor’s offense the past few years, if our offense makes our defense look just as bad, maybe we can at least score some points in turn to perhaps outscore Baylor haha.
Knight over thinking? I’m not sure that is the issue with him.
I’d suspect there are one or two theories out there amongst fans.
Knight doesn’t have any poise in the pocket. Might be his biggest downfall along with his lack of accuracy.
For someone with no poise in the pocket, hes only been sacked 11 times in 18 games. For reference, mayfield was sacked 24 times in 8 games for tech.
Really good offensive line at OU. Considered one of the best in the nation. That sure helps.
Some other names to add – Curtis Bolton and the Evans duo at LB; Tito at slot CB; whoever is the punt returner; Romar at DT; Dede of course.
Westbrook likely to be returning punts this year
of course, I doubt he actually returns any in the spring game. I can’t remember the last time they actually fielded one for a return.
True.
That can be said for actual games last year as well!
Yeah, I read that here and am very excited. I just thought perhaps we’d see our first glimpse in this game. However, per OUWade, it doesnt sound like they set up and execute punt returns so I guess we will have to wait a little longer.
Yeah, that’s not typically something Bob lets them do for fear (presumably) of an unnecessary injury. They’ll let the guys punt it to get them practice, but typically don’t allow returns.
Even though I think it’s a long shot, this is the type of offense that I thought Daniel Brooks’ skill set would be ideal for. I don’t really know much about Brooks since he was in HS, but with Anderson and Perine (limited, I think) and Mixon being out, I picture him being the “star” of the spring game at the position. I’m just hopeful that if he is, it doesn’t become the type of thing that Jordan was talking about with a guy in the spring who you never see during the season.
I think TFB said he would be used a lot on Saturday for the reasons you mentioned but I agree, looking at LR’s offense, he used more running backs like Brooks and I think he will have a good role this Fall
I think there was a recent interview with Stoops in which he mentioned using Brooks more this season.
Me too. I think this O is a good one for someone like Brooks. Lots of people will play in this O, even in the fall. Brooks should get some touches; it will be interesting to see what he can do. This O puts people in space and tells them to make the play. That’s to Brooks’ advantage.
Brooks will look like a star and not see the field in the fall
Last year, I would agree with you, but thankfully, Heupel is gone.
Really rooting for the kid.. great post
JT is one I’m interested in. Reports from practice have been positive.
The other guy I want to see is Haughton … only he won’t be there! Bummer!
Look out for Jeffrey Mead! No inside info to back this I just thought he was awesome in High School and he didn’t really catch anything noteworthy last year but I certainly made note of his route running speed and ability to get open last year. I just hope Cale Gundy and Dennis Simmons can help this receiving core
Mead was really a non-factor last year…even when he saw the field. I hope he, like EVERYONE on this team, has a breakout year this year. I was underwhelmed with what I saw last year. Never even really had a glimpse of “oh, wow!”
I want to see Michiah Quick and how he looks in this offense. He is someone that has been forgotten so far in spring. I remember last year, everyone was all over this guy and how good he could be.
I think he shows up in the spring game in a big way. Also im curious if Quick has been practicing inside or outside?
Wasnt Quick battling some injury? I didnt think he was able to practice that much yet.
I thought he was battling a hammy.
It’s his groin, I believe. And based on how limited we’ve heard he has been in practices, I’ll be kind of surprised if he plays Saturday.
Honest question here. Has he been “forgotten” or just not showing anything? Big difference. If, as others are saying, he’s been injured then it is a moot point. OU has had plenty of those “forgotten” guys in the past that, for whatever reason, were just never good enough to get on the field. I’m not saying Quick is “that guy”, mind you, just wanting to clarify. I haven’t followed spring as closely as I would have liked so I’m honestly curious.
I don’t see OU running but about 25% of the off and the def really not showing anything.
Great job! You just defined a scrimmage!
I know the offensive schemes will be plain vanilla, but I still want to watch basic principles and formations, along with the routes they run. I am really curious to see how well we can execute it against a plain defensive alignment. If the O falls flat on its face, I will be a bit concerned. On the other hand, if they light it up I will most likely be concerned with the play of the secondary.
I have a hunch Baker Mayfield – Mark Andrews tandem light up the place. After that, not so much. Just a hunch though.
Everybody scream WE WANT JOE at the game Saturday.
Please don’t
It would be nice to see Joe Washington
I heard the crowd scream that…at a Hendrix concert. 🙂
Did you make the one in Norman? It was one of the last before his death – really great show.
No, it was in Shreveport, summer of ’68. Magical night.
I was there. Hendrix broke a string during the first song and I guess they didn’t travel with lots of guitars, or at least didn’t have one ready, so Mitch Mitchell played a drum solo, very unusual to start the show with that, until the tech replaced the string and handed the guitar back up to Jimi on stage.. Of course someone was there with a tape recorder, so you tube verifies my memory! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVMt4PWY9S0
Any buzz about Dallis Todd? Hearing about a lot of other guys and haven’t heard much about him.
We’ve had a couple positive reports about him this spring. Will definitely be in the rotation amongst the outside WRs
I’d rather Joe Mixon didnt play. Would not like him to pick up any type of injury. Same ith Samaje Perine
Perine almost assuredly won’t be playing, believe Stoops said as much earlier this week, fwiw.
Absolutely no reason to the human wrecking ball. Outside the new line, I see this as a test of the WRs vs. our so-so backfield.
I believe the coaching staff & administration have confirmed Mixon isn’t playing as part of his suspension agreement.
It’s going to be interesting to see how Jordan Evans plays with the additional 20 lbs. Also, hopefully we get to see what all the DJ Ward hype is about.
Heard something this morning that seemed to suggest Obo might be held out as well, fwiw.
Injury related?
yes
Will the Spring Game be televised this year?
FSSW
Thank you much
You’re welcome Sir!
Which includes a one hour Soonersports pre-game show that begins at 1p.m. Central.
I really enjoy this site, it has great insight. My son LOVES OU football and I’ve been talking with him about Dallis Todd, Jeffrey Mead and Mark Andrews for the past year. KJ Young was one of the only kids who really did anything last year. But the three mentioned have the size I think Riley is looking for. I also believe they could have made an impact last year but Norvell and Heupel didn’t know what to do with them. So I hope those guys can step up, along with Carson Meier and maybe AD Miller can surprise us. Thanks.
thanks for reading!
I guess it is not any player in particular on the Defense but it will be interesting to see if there are any changes in the defensive alignments! Defense usually has a hard time showing much in Spring Games but with the talk of the 40 front being practiced and used and also running more press coverage from the DB it will be interesting for me to see how these changes look even in the Spring Game!
Individual players I’ll keep an eye…Jordan Evans and Dom Alexander, both guys need to improve in pass coverage(same goes for the safeties) on offense really excited to see the new WRs
You’re right. If theres one single area we need to improve its pass coverage. Both the LBs and DBs need to be better big time. I have a very good feeling about our offense and our ability to stop the run but Im still haunted by the Baylor and Clemson games and in the end if we can’t stop the 3rd and 20s like we couldnt do last year, we’re in big time trouble.
I watched the RRSO yesterday, Swoopes picked apart the middle of the field…Tyrone Freakin Swoopes!!!
Isn’t Dom still out with a wrist injury or something?
Oh IDK
all good stuff, JE.
In my fan (ignorant) assessment, Knight has been mismanaged for most of his OU career. For this reason, I am pulling for him to be the starter. It seems to me that the only time Knight’s talents were used correctly was during the Sugar Bowl. We never saw that offense again in 2014. I can’t remember, but I believe that was Knight’s best game ever. Looking forward to seeing how it shakes out! I have complete faith the coaches will play the best QB!
Correction – We saw that offense against KSU last year. Knight was awesome…tons of play-action.
Yes. Bama and KSU games. I’d love to see him used in the same fashion in the future. The kid was horribly mismanaged. But that may have had a lot to do with the lack of depth at QB. The coaches were afraid of him getting injured which he does. But yes. Used IAW his talents and TK is a winner.
Exactly. I think they didn’t use his abilities to TK’s advantage b/c they thought they could still win w/o running him, therefore, lessening his chances of getting injured.
As I was reading this I was thinking of Sam Bradfords career in the Pros.
I agree with you. I think the O was not an O that was to his advantage. I looked at the games AFTER the 1st one his FR year, and he had a great % of drives for scores until the OSU game where he was injured. I examined the ones he didn’t lead the team to a score and it was usually b/c we’d start 1st and 25 or lost fumble or something that was difficult for anyone to overcome. Pretty impressive a/f the 1st game. Then great game against bama. That’s what impressed me–how many times does a QB orchestrate scoring drives. I thought he did pretty well his FR yr. Last yr I thought Stoops really thought he had a chance to take the team to the final 4, so he wanted to win w/o opening up the O w/Knight’s running knowing he didn’t have a backup QB ready to take them to Final 4. It backfired, obviously. Plus, Knight didn’t have a bunch of good WRs. I think more than anything it was an uncreative O that didn’t put a lot of pressure on the D, just called on the QB/WRs to make plays w/o giving them a great advantage (confuse the D w/motion, lineup all over the place, hurry up and don’t give the D much time to think about whether they are lined up correctly, etc.). Look at the critical interceptions he threw last yr–not seeing underneath coverage. That is extremely hard to see in the heat of battle. Non-QB people don’t get how hard that is. I was at someone’s house on a Sunday last season and they were watching NFL games and I saw 3 such interceptions by great NFL QBs (one being Manning w/more yrs of experience playing QB than Knight’s been alive) w/in about 30 seconds. I blame that more on Heupel than a young guy w/limited experience playing QB.
Imho, Yyour comment about Knight’s play in general is right on the money, I think. I tend to blame it on the lack of production and medium quality play from the receivers and not on JH, but I completely agree that Knight did well when put in favorable down and distance drives on a regular basis. I also couldn’t agree more with your comment about the “linebacker dropping into the window” play. I was wondering when someone would mention how often you see that play result in interceptions against top level quarterbacks. Nice post.
Oh heavenly father, please let the announcers and broadcast do a better job than they have the last couple of years. Please don’t let them miss plays because they are showing me the dorms. In Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN
Yeah, this is going to come off as pretty insincere, but the announcers for OU and most on Fox Sports really take you out of the game with all their tangents. The women’s soccer team having the best cumulative GPA in the Midwest region (not sure this is true, just an example) is a great accomplishment and should be recognized, but there’s a time and place for that, which in my opinion shouldn’t be DURING a football game. Several times during the LA Tech game the announcers were off talking to Joe C. about some other activities in the athletics department and Perine was ripping off big runs, so frustrating.
You mean like ignoring the game to interview people on the sidelines?
like last year when they were interviewing Blake, and didn’t show Mayfield’s TD throw…
Excited to see John Humphrey!
On a completely non-football related note (maybe it is a little related to recruiting), I hope the DJ/MC at the spring game this year plays some better music suited for recruits visiting/the team. I’m thinking more or less the music they play for the team when they are warming up during home games to get them fired up. In recent years I recall hearing things like the hokey pokey and the macarena (may be exaggerating a bit). It seems like it would have little effect in the grand scheme of things, but it really does make the difference.
I want to see whatever cornerback the coaches put opposite of Sanchez play lockdown and have a short memory when he’s not so lockdown. Other than that, I’ll echo the offensive line sentiment.
Anyone know if the game will be streamed?
Not 100% sure but I think I read it will be on SoonerSports.TV or Fox Sports Oklahoma.
Thanks
Fat lotta good it will do us here in MO Tigger country. They’ll replay it here 5 to 7…stupid ESSSEECEE homering.
SoonerSports has a streaming app. Not sure if they will stream it though. If you can’t tune in, SoonerSports will have the replay later on, as will (in most likelihood) Huff99 on YouTube. HolaKyle (YouTube as well) always has quality highlights.
How the defence plays as a unit it’s no secret the backend of the secondary is struggling from some reports match that with a sceme change in the front 7 just being able to line up and be where they are supposed to be and not give up the big play
QB reads and how quick the ball is out of their hands. WR cuts and separation (this also ties in with the QB release times). With relation to Trevor, I had a feeling last season that some of his problems were because of play calling and having his hands tied because of the fear of injury. I also didn’t see a lot of the aforementioned WR separation to help him out. Lincoln and Baker can alleviate both of those albatrosses so that maybe he can just play the game. We will see. On D, who is the other corner? Do the safeties/corners/LB still look lost. About it. I’ll be watching from the house.
Really looking forward to watching Westbrook play. Also, I think I read somewhere that Jordan Thomas is actually out performing Sanchez right now. It’ll be interesting to see where everything stands.
Both will start. No drama here.
Didn’t imply that there was. I was just referring to the notion that the CB opposite of Sanchez is open and that JT was more than likely the person to fill it.
Yeah, I was a Westbrook fan as soon as he committed. Plus he and Shapard are made for Riley’s offensive schemes. Having them both should cause some mayhem for Ds.
Granted that there was a lack of separation. However, even when Knight was able to run, he threw pick sixes. In addition, when TCU fumbled twice at midfield in the closing minutes, Knight couldn’t get us 6.
I’m not saying he will be the man, but I think with Riley’s offense, another quality/experienced QB available, and possibly WRs who can cut/separate, he MAY get much better results. And I’m not picking, but to say Knight couldn’t get us six is a little short sighted.
We’ll see. Want the best for the job. But over two years now Knight has been inconsistent.
So…
No Shep
No Perine
No Mixon
No Obo
No Quick (maybe)
No punt returns from Westbrook
No sacking from Tapper or Striker
I can’t wait to watch the scrimmage. Really, I’ll be busy doing other things. Knight, Mayfield, Safeties, and CBs are the players I will watch…later.
Honey Do List?
Maybe someone said this in the comments already, but I’m really looking forward to FINALLY seeing Dallis Todd. Last season, I was certain he would be the first of the “big 3” to see the field, however I was mistaken and a little disappointed to see Mead out there.
So our Safeties look that bad huh?
Besides watching the defense to see how they hold up. I will be watching the coaches chemistry with each other. Just to see if Mike has really calmed down any. But when things are not going well that is when the true colors will come out. So it will be interesting to see how they act towards each other and the players. And also the team chemistry is another thing I will be watching.
no problem……
……..http://i.imgur.com/GFpnKCd.gif
LOL. Guy’s gonna stroke out one of these days.
….it’s like he’s barefoot on hot pavement….appears kish doesn’t have the same sense of urgency
Is Joseph Paul still on this team? Never hear about him
Careful. I got reprimanded for asking about him a couple of days ago.
I’ll be watching to see what new talent the cheerleading squad has brought in.
I really hope Riley runs the QB option game, it can really change a so-so offense in to a scoring machine. Hopefully someone on our staff can teach the read option cause Knight never learned.
I was under the impression we brought in Hot Rod (Lincoln) to veer (see what I did there?) away from the QB option; though I am with you on not running it correctly before, whatever the reasons..
Back to Air-Raid…remember? No more read or perhaps only as a goal line play.
Actually Riley ran some zone read plays at East Carolina. Especially zone read with a pass option when they were backed up on the goal line
I want to see two things, crisp accurate throws and solid catches. Not worried about the run game right now.
This
Agree, even without the top guys playing there will be alot to watch. Looking forward to seeing them hit the field.
Does anyone remember a player who did wonderfully well in the spring game and then become an impact player? With regards to impact during the season – the spring games serves as a non-indicator/factor.
Edit: After last yr, I thought Flowers and Brooks will be stars – I am still waiting, same case with Bell (QB) after year before spring game.
Carter Whitson
Never understood why he kept kicking the ball that spring game.
Dom Whaley
Yup, he did. I give you that one.
Sucks how everything worked out for him. He had a lot of “want to”
Adron Tennell
No slight on Tennell but he was never an impact player.
I remember him being highly recruited and had a pretty good spring then never translated his spring game to the fall.
Mr hands of stone.
Two years ago Striker looked pretty dang good doing what he does…on the flip side Favors looked pretty good as well but didn’t see the field…Striker looked even better last year in the spring game
I think my point is more towards how the game is setup. Its not meant to be an audition for the job. More of a showcase for the lesser known talents in the team. These kids are great players in their own right but for reason (maybe not afforded? – not sure on this but after seeing Brooks run well and getting single digit carries, I am not sure anymore) never get to beat out the 1s to get the job.
Fair enough…two years ago everybody thought Shannon and Nelson would be our backers…I said we’ll have Striker on the field as well…did you not see him in the SG (I said)… before that he was relatively unknown outside the program…that said I’m sure the game (and leading up to it) this year will have a little more meaning since we have a new system and so many young guys getting reps and it will pay off come fall camp leading up to the season
Murray had his welcome to the national scene moment in the spring game.
I’m with ya..the OP’er is mainly getting at the SG not being import on the season with nobody that plays has and impact on the season unless they are already known about…I’m sure we’ll have quite a few this year that haven’t made an impact getting some nice plays in the SG
Seems like Broyles had a nice SG before he became a starter as well..unless injured there will be a few “future stars” that play in the SG…I’m counting on a few wrs showing up saturday with the reps they’ll get
True, the starters/stars are the starters regardless. Definitely a good way to see how the 2nd and 3rd stringers are developing.
Pretty well sums it up. Every year a couple of guys, esp at RB it seems, look great and are seldom heard from again. It’s a chance to see some base alignments and watch some guys run into each other in a semblance of ‘football’. That said, if I was within 100 miles and the weather was decent, I’d gladly be there to watch! ; )
Dom Whaley comes to mind.
Demarco Murray.
Not spring game related but quality afternoon viewing.

Greatness
Clotheslined by his coach. Only person to ever bring him down like that. Last time.
240p?? SMH….
On a real note, I miss Bob Barry.
Yep. THE Voice of the Sooners. Even in later years when he started getting a bit less correct with players’ names and plays, I loved the heck out of every call he made. The excitement & pride he felt in the team & program stayed clear as a bell. Listening to his play-by-play on games we couldn’t see while living in Florida made me less homesick and more connected to my team. Keep on R.I.P., BB Senior. You are truly missed.
Back in the day, when televised games were a rare treat, OU fans never felt cheated because Bob would make you feel like you were actually there. “Touchdown, Oklahoma!!!!”
I’m not saying Perine is like Peterson but they confidence and swag Adrian had his sophomore season as a result of a great Freshman season, I can see that happening with Perine.
Everyone on this list and Westbrook, Jaxon Uhles, and the young LBs. That’s assuming TFB or another source will post the replay. If not, I ain’t watchin’ nuffin this year. Traveling Saturday.
I’m sure FSSW will have a replay
Shweet. All else fails, I’m sure TFB and my fellow faniacs will bring me back up to speed.
Second on the ” huff99 “. Dude does an awesome job getting the games on YouTube pretty quickly.
Thank you. I’ll keep an eye out for it.
This, and the YouTube channels “HolaKyle” and “Huff99” usually have the highlights and games uploaded in a timely manner.
I’ve given up on HolaKyle since he gave up on the Sooners this past year.
Did I miss something? Or did he just stop posting highlights during the season?
Well, in his defense, the highlights kinda quit coming.
Exactly what I was thinking.
Dude has skills, though.
He did and I often praised him for it.
I removed him from my subscription list.
Probably a good move. I have it on good authority that the guy is a wimp.

To me the only defense he has is being a wimp.
He quit posting highlights just because they have a bad year.
If he’s that much of a wimp I don’t need him.
The last game he posted highlights for was Iowa St.
Gotcha.
I recognize the family name Uhles; I guess he’s the possible nephew of Rick Uhles? I’ve seen him on the roster, but never a photo and never any real sightings on the field.
..
?..?
Jaxon Uhles
Yeah, I think I read a family member of his played at OU. He’s a Pitt State transfer. He looks the part in the few appearances I’ve seen of him. But really, I should say I’ll be looking at the new crop of FBs: Flowers, Palange, and Uhles.
excellent article Jordan…..I;m going to try to watch the QB’s and then realize who/ what we see in the Spring game may not be who / what we see come September…..it should be an interesting scrimmage…..
I read all of your “contributions” in Dale Gribble’s voice. Stephen Dale Gribble. I advise any and all to do the same.
what ??? explain please..
I’ll tell you what man don’t you go dragging ol’ Jordan’s name through the mud man, EastTex the one who said it man you know, dang ol’ leave ol’ Jordan alone man.
I go with Boomhauer.
That was funny!
Really hope its on soonersports otherwise there is no hope for us California Sooners. I’d like to see Tay Evans in quite a bit, he’s getting rather large.
It will be, but I believe you’ll have to pay to watch it live. You may try the Fox Sports app though, may be available to stream on there. Otherwise, it will be replayed countless times though that won’t help anything if you have your heart set on watching it live, of course.
Great idea. Appreciate it sir!
Bolton too..I’m sure both will get a lot of reps
Find a friend with dish network & you can use their log in to watch from their box at home. That’s what I’ve been doing for Thunder games that aren’t televised in SD & what I will be doing on Saturday. Not sure if other cable providers offer the same thing but it would be it may be worth looking in to. Good Luck
We should a lot of Flowers running the ball on Saturday. Probably doesn’t mean much, but at least Perine will not be put in harm’s way. On second thought, I should say the defensive players will not be put in harm’s way. Stoops should just use Brooks, Ross, and Flowers and the other FBS to run the ball during the Spring game.
Agreed on QB’s being the norm of focus, but I’m much more interested in WR’s.
I’ve been a staunch advocate of giving TK a chance last year, especially with Baker not available. He had a tough year, no doubt. Baker may very well be better.
But the biggest difference between Sugar TK & 2014 reg season was in fact WR’s.
Losing Saunders was huge, we didn’t come close to replacing him or production. Sterling was basically on his own…..& hurt. There were many other good contributors @ WR at end of 2014 too.
The rest of WR’s were every bit as disappointing as TK for the year.
Dede & Andrews combo have potential to give either QB the opportunity to go from managing O to excelling.
Anyway Tito could play safety? Or is he too stiff,or big,or slow? I’ve read he’s a hard hitter and good in coverage? Just thinking out loud. If the rumors are true that are safeties are struggling again the d has to try something until the freshman safeties get on campus.
Will be looking to see how the dline is playing under Reynolds. Get a chance to see Orso and if Wade is stepping up. Also get a look at Bolton.
I was watching the running backs and I saw a play with a full back as a lead blocker…great to see with the field so spread out that we are using a power run as well as the fact that we are using a Full back
