Defensive Line Recruiting: It’s been a busy offer week for coach Thibodeaux and the defensive line. And it sounds like the Sooners will have some of those big men on campus soon…

Dayo Odeyingbo: Earlier this week the Sooners offered 6’5 2017 DE, Dayo Odeyingbo (Carrolton, TX). Odeyinbo tells us that will try to make the visit up to Norman and noted it will “most likely” happen this summer.

Elijah Conliffe: Coach Thibodeaux made his way up to Virginia to visit 2017 DE/DT, Elijah Conliffe (Hampton, VA). Conliffe tells us that he will make a trip to Norman this summer and if he’s not able to then he will take an official visit to Oklahoma in the fall. Conliffe seems to be very enamored with OU.

Fred Hansard: Coach Thibodeaux was also in New Jersey earlier this week visiting 2017 DE/DT, Fred Hansard (Princeton, NJ). Hansard holds around thirty offers which includes all his regional schools as well as offers from the likes of Clemson and Alabama.

Hansard let us know that he too plans on taking a trip to Norman this summer.

Other Notable 2017 Dline Visitors: As we’ve already reported, OU will also host big time defensive line prospects Marvin Wilson (Houston, TX) and Greg Rogers (Las Vegas, NV) this summer as well.

Hard to recall such a star studded defensive line visitor list in one Sooner summer! – (Super K)

Isaiah Buggs: Last month top JUCO defensive lineman, Isaiah Buggs (Mississippi Gulf Coast CC Bulldogs) released a top 10 list. The Sooners made the cut…

Buggs did an interview (HERE) with our friend, Richard Davenport, over in the Arkansas market. Interestingly, towards the end of the interview he mentions a few specific schools and it really sounded like those were the primary schools he’s focused on. The schools he specifically mentions and talks about include Texas A&M, LSU (they appear to be back in the race) and Oklahoma.

–  Jalen Harris: Sooners have turned their attention to a new 2017 OLB/DE prospect out of Arizona named Jalen Harris.

Harris the son of former Chicago Bears linebacker, Sean Harris.

After watching Jalen’s film, I have to say emphatically that if everything checks out, this young man should sky rocket to the top of Oklahoma’s Jack/Sam LB board. At 6’4/6’5 he clearly has the frame to carry at least 250 lbs. He plays on both sides of the ball and has some of the best feet I’ve seen on a young man that tall and long. He is extremely sudden off the edge but has no notable stiffness that you normally expect in a taller athlete. Harris runs and bends well. And given his father’s NFL pedigree he obviously understands the game of football.

While young Harris’ father played at Arizona, it sounds like Jalen is very much open to the best opportunity and the best fit. In fact they recently returned from a visit to Iowa State.

This young man is exactly what a future first round pass rusher looks like in high school. I can’t say enough how impressive Harris is on film. He may be the best pass rusher I’ve seen live or on film in this class anywhere in country.

Enjoy…

Josh Proctor & Wayne Jones | Owasso: I was in Owasso yesterday to look at a couple Oklahoma 2018 DB targets in Josh Proctor and Wayne Jones.

I captured a little video of the two prospects. Both have great frames and both move extremely well. Both Proctor and Jones each already hold multiple FBS offers. The Sooners have had the good fortune of being able to build recruiting momentum with excellent in-state talent in the 2017 class. It doesn’t look like that’s going to change in 2018 which is obviously a good thing for OU. – (Brandon)

Owen Condon: Oklahoma already has one 2018 in-state offensive line prospect committed and it’s possible they may take a shot at another.

2018 OT, Owen Condon tells TFB that Sooners offensive line coach, Bill Bedenbaugh stopped by Bishop McGuiness to visit him earlier this week. Condon said the Sooners have invited him to camp and let him know they are very much interested in him.

The 6’7 prospect already holds offers from Texas Tech, Iowa State, SMU, Tulsa and Ohio. – (Super K)

BOOMER fellow TFBrainiacs!!! Early OP and maybe some updates. Make it a great day!

  • DR LEO MARVIN says:

So as I was saying Jordan needs to make some TFB decals for my bike————

  • CrimsonNative says:

Harris lined up as an outside receiver and caught a fade route. No Way! That kid is going to be good at multiple positions. Might as well list him as a freak athlete.

    • Super K says:

      Exactly. Body control!

      • CrimsonNative says:

I’ll be honest, I watch every film you guys post and this guy is something I haven’t seen before. He is so fluid, fast and big. I’m not sure how a team is going to be able to determine where he plays. He’s very gifted to say the least.

        • Matt says:

and from what I can find, only Scout even has him ranked currently and that’s as a 3 star WR…what an under the radar prospect. I love to hear the Sooners are finding guys like this early. Good scouting!

          • CrimsonNative says:

Yeah, I don’t see him sticking at WR. TE would be his best bet on offense but he looks like he could be a heck of an NFL ILB.

          • cush creekmont says:

Depending on his speed, the new hybrid TE or H could be it as well. For his future earnings, edge rusher will probably pay the most. Ultimately, his best play and best money will depend on how much he excels at “whatever” position. His/the coaches’ choices will have a big impact.

          • ⚡️Electric Sooner⚡️ says:

He’ll probably be a 4 star before its all said and done.

          • metzker says:

If bama offers he goes straight to 5 star

          • ⚡️Electric Sooner⚡️ says:

Now that we are on him, Alabama will offer him tomorrow.

          • Scott says:

Don’t forget all the Texas schools.

    • hOUligan says:

Just finished watching. Leapin’ lizards, the kid is quick and fast. 6’4 and looks heavier than the listed 210. Listed as a WR by the sites so obviously is athletic enough. And great dna w/ Sean Harris. Wonder if there’s some OUDNA there, too?

great stuff as always Super K….earlier this week when you mentioned the camp they are holding and trying to get the big names like Wilson to come to, are Hines and Okudah going to be on campus that weekend also?

      • Boom says:

Proctor floats. Looks like B. Pool at S back in the day.

      • cush creekmont says:

Yes – beefy AND tasty too. Thanks for digging things out for us. Harris has sooooo many possible positions (depending on final strength and speed) that it will take some visionary coaching to optimally place him.

      • DCinAZ says:

No but I bet all of the guys above eat at Wendys a lot.

      • Boom says:

BTW – with all of this talent coming to OU’s camp, will NFL scouts be allowed? ; )

Yep. A lot of meat to chew in this edition. But it’s got to hold us through the weekend.

  • Cav66 says:

Thanks for the update on the DLine visitors (and the whole solid report) K! A lot of us have been hoping to see some good news on that front, and it sounds like coach Thibs is scouring the country to make that happen. He has an impressive group looking to visit, and hopefully that bodes well for big DLine class this year.

    • soonerguy421 says:

these recruits are BIG in terms of size too, which I love

      • Cav66 says:

Nice to see us moving toward some of the bigger and longer athletes to help us compete better on a national level.

  • Tony B says:

They should throw the kitchen sink, recruiting wise, at Harris. This kid is going to be freakishly good.

    • Cav66 says:

Heck of a good looking recruit (size, speed, agility, football background). Hope the coaches can reel him in.

  • metzker says:

Um the owasso vid liked it.The start and end with TFB Rocked.

  • SoonerMagic76 says:

Thanks for all the updates! Love seeing the recruiting continue to roll

  • Birddawg says:

    Condon on the OP!
Coach Pierce is going to create him another future sooner.
    Go Irish!

  • Ryan says:

Taylor Hamm predicted Ondario Robinson, Kenneth Murray, and Ceedee Lamb to A&M today. That blows. We just offered the D guys. The swagcopter is down come on guys…They can have Lamb tho.

  • cush creekmont says:

Besides Jalen Harris being some athletic dude, he has a little brother that might be better –

“Harris’ brother, Jason, is a 6-6, 190-pound eighth-grader, who could end up being an even bigger prospect. He is one of the top basketball players in the nation already. Jason is a true defensive end and a wide receiver.”

  • Daryl says:

Harris can be offered as the Mark Andrews or Jack LB. I prefer the Jack of course. That spin move on his highlight was so legit. Maybe the Mike and Tim Kish Arizona connections payoff.

  • Jeremy Phillips says:

On LT someone is saying one of the coaches was out in Buford, GA yesterday checking out ’17 athlete Joshua Blackwell..

  • ouwooferman says:

Super K and Brandon – Great OP. Thanks for a great friday post!!!!!!

  • Randy says:

Love the DL prospects.. Buggs is the most important one. A JC early enrollee that can play every position on the line will be incredibly important in ’17 with the 3 SRs and more than likely Charles Walker declaring.

    • RDC212 says:

We definitely need to take at least two high quality DT’s this cycle. Glad to see this much emphasis being put on it. I have a feeling once one domino starts to fall the others will too just like other positions have this cycle.

  • Lincoln Hawk says:

K, next time you come to Owasso feel free to stop in and buy me lunch. LOL

First Post of the day on OP! Yeah me!!! FIRST FIRST FIRST!!!

  • Sooner Ray says:

Great OP, looks like I’ve got some film to watch. I will watch Proctor’s but really don’t need to, he’s the real deal and everyone from this part of the state knows it.

    • hOUligan says:

Ever make it to any hs games and see some of these kids play? Proctor looks like a very fluid athlete. Could play a lot of positions at any school. Hope he ends up a Sooner.

      • Sooner Ray says:

I try to make some, I’ll see Draper this year and Owasso is just down the road. I always either watch a stream or all the highlight film on Friday night from all the local schools.

  • metzker says:

Any body see the gun bed?I gotta have one.

  • Sooner Ray says:

Yep, we need Harris. Love his film.

  • Daryl says:

Ok just just listened to the Buggs interview. It didn’t give me a ton of hope but we are in the mix.

The host though had to be hitting him up to go wherever his almamater was because man he was kissing up to him like no other. I mean if it was the fox Oklahoma guy I would want him to do the same but hopefully it wouldn’t be quite so obvious.

  • ccmosaic says:

I love seeing so much talent in state and Texas. Obviously Texas always has talent but seeing so many Oklahoma kids getting a look is wonderful. I am also very impressed with the DL talent we have looking at us. If we can pull in some of those 4 * kids and just maybe get that nasty 5* to Norman this D will be awesome for a few years.

  • j l says:

Great OP! Keep these good ones coming

  • Robert Boone says:

I love my Sooners and my school, but damn, what had happened to the state government. A long way from the days of Carl Albert and Boren. Really embarrassed to see them in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. What ever happened to love and tolerance?

    • Matt S. says:

What’s your definition of love and/or tolerance?

    • cush creekmont says:

You weren’t embarrassed by Carl Albert being seen drunk all over DC?

    • connie usa says:

I guess in your mind, love + tolerance = an aborted BABY.

      • Walter Sobcek says:

Not appropriate. In my mind discussing that subject on this board = tasteless.

        • connie usa says:

Walter. I assume you are referring to the person WHO BROUGHT THIS UP IN THE FIRST PLACE. That would be Robert Boone. Do you recall reading this?
I love my Sooners and my school, but damn, what had happened to the state government. A long way from the days of Carl Albert and Boren. Really embarrassed to see them in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. What ever happened to love and tolerance?

        • Lincoln Hawk says:

I think you directed that to the wrong person.

    • Soonerfan24 says:

Not the place for political discussions

    • Ryan says:

Liberals preach love and tolerance then get angry when people have different opinions than them. Every. Freaking. Time.

      • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

Let me add to that. They also call a Field Slam Dogs 3 blitz when they should have called a Cover 3 Fire Zone blitz. I mean, the nerve of these people.

    • Lincoln Hawk says:

Love and tolerance does not equal murdering a child. End of story.

      • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

But it does have everything to do with leaving a player who has limited agility and top end speed at the single high safety spot in a Cover 1 vs a Cover 2 to give your CBs a bit of aggressiveness to “cover” the safeties.

        I mean I’m just sayin’.

      • diablodejalisco says:

haha, murder is legal in america, if you call that murder. i remember when it was illegal. didn’t stop anything but killed a lot of young women. if it doesn’t breath, its not a child. should we be saving the lives of sperm too? they are alive you know. let the woman and her doctor make their decisions, then you dont look stupid like so many evangelicals and conservatives.

I met Carl Albert once when I was in college. This is a good story.

Once when Mr. Albert was Speaker of the House of Representatives, he visited OU to give a speech. Since he was an alumni of my fraternity, a few of the brothers brought him to the house to show him the newest renovations.

I was unaware of his visit to the house and was sitting on the toilet when Speaker Albert walked in. There I sat with my pants around my ankles and feeling embarassed and at a loss for what to do next. That’s when I learned to appreciate Mr. Albert’s political instincts. He didn’t miss a beat. He stepped right up to me and stuck out his hand. We shook hands and I told him my name. Speaker Albert then said: “If you’re feeling embarrassed about this, you need to know this. I’ve meet two hundred people tonight, shook all their hands, and won’t remember a one of them tomorrow. You, I will remember.”

    • Jed says:

What? You expect our governor and attorney general to have more than a nodding acquaintance with the law?
      Silly Boy.
So, bottom line? Oklahoma spends money we don’t have defending a childishly unconstitutional statute. Ultimately, we’re slapped down like a pack of mentally challenged yokels. And, meantime? Those who need to terminate a pregnancy, for good reasons or Ill, either leave the state to do so (if they are at least modestly financially fixed) or, if poor, use a more dangerous method without benefit of medical advice.
      Yay. Well done Oklahoma Legislature.

Jalen Harris is a beast. He’s flying low-lowkey, less than 1k views on hull. Hope they move him up their proirity list.

      • metzker says:

So true, lock this guy in fast.

        • T. Rob says:

You got to be optimistic about our chances of signing a good D line class for 17. Seems slow because we have so many other positions half way filled. But out of the 5 or 6 top lineman were targeting we have to come away with at least 3 of them.

          • metzker says:

So true and im so happy we are back at getting the best guys

          • Lincoln Hawk says:

Only thing I worry about is the a lot of the relationships with this class and their position coaches already being established. Thibs has to play catch up with some of the others. Time to earn his keep!

            Kish is happy!

It would be interesting to know what the recruits are thinking/saying about Baylor behind the scenes.

          • metzker says:

            Well your the twitter master

          • Lincoln Hawk says:

Or T.Rob could just drop some knowledge on us…

          • T. Rob says:

Its training going on this weekend ill ask them what they think about Baylor. I told G. Little the other week I understand if he is cautious about going to Ole Miss now and that I’m sure Stoops could find a scholarship for you. You might not want to be stuck in your spot if the shhhh..hits the fan. Smell my drift. He was like its all good they’ll be alright. But with these major schools having PR nightmares it can only help our recruiting. Now is the time to go after their commits hard to flip, after all you have kryptonite ammunition now.

          • Lincoln Hawk says:

I have a feeling our coaches and the SS17 are like sharks smelling blood in the water right now.

I’m surprised Creed hasn’t joined up yet but I think he said he is committing next month, hopefully it’s with the good guys. Would give us a good foundation on the inside of the line for sure.

          • T. Rob says:

I agree. We need him at cebter, Ty at guard and another bigtime tackle. If that’s accomplished Coach B will get have A for his portion of the class.

          • Lincoln Hawk says:

I’d go ahead and give him an A+. He always seems to pull in a guy or two totally off the radar.

          • Daryl says:

T Rob you make my day when you hit the TFB up. Thanks for all the thoughts and info.

” I think I want to decommit from Rape U”

          • metzker says:

T.rob whats the word on Baylor kids looking there?

          • T. Rob says:

That’s another reason why I liked coach B. He said it from the start. You send a 17 year old kid off to college, he stills needs to mentored into a man. Parents can’t do that from over the phone. Coaches is who you invest that trust into that they will make that happen
I couldn’t see myself having faith in their staff to get the job done. Their track record is not helping whatever pitch is coming out their mouths

          • Lincoln Hawk says:

Is that a direct quote? Amazing if it is. I couldn’t imagine sending my child there right now. I feel bad for last years class that just signed.

          • T. Rob says:

No its not. But I’m sure some recruit has said that for giggles. But any respectable parent wouldn’t allow their kid to play at school and for a coaching staff like that. You have to remember, coaches are like father figures to some kids who come from single parent families. So you want to make sure morally, your son is being coached and mentored into a man by respectable coaches.

          • Lincoln Hawk says:

Yea I can see that, I think that’s one reason I will forever stand up for Bob. He seems like he genuinely cares for his players and coaches. Just an all around good man.

    • Lincoln Hawk says:

Hey man any way you can get the rain turned off here in Tulsa? I’d love for us to get some work done around here.

      • metzker says:

Geez if I can I would. First day in Lubbock in a week I have seen the sun.

        • Lincoln Hawk says:

Brutal. I bet your owners are asking why nothing is getting done too.

          • metzker says:

No it could not have been a better time for there visit. They were like wow its impressive the amount of work done, however how are we going to catch up grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

          • Lincoln Hawk says:

Well hopefully you guys have plenty of rain days figured in the schedule and the owners are understanding in the end.

  • T. Rob says:

Ok so we have the #2 recruiting class currently with more top level recruits to come. Our recruits are recruiters. A&m, Baylor and Texas are tearing it up on recruiting trail “literally”. The 2016 team is ranked top 3 starting off the season. Not forgetting a top 5 offense and top 10 defense. Looks to be another hell of year to be a SOONER.

    • Sooner Ray says:

      Now and in the future.

      • T. Rob says:

Best of both worlds. Another playoff run or NC will kick into another level. When you get to the level of NC or bust season, you know you made it back to the top.

        • Sooner Ray says:

          Absolutely.

        • Rick says:

I do remember the old days when young dudes in Ok and Tx would simply say OU early in their career, and not even consider another school….period! And walk ons would come to OU when offered schollys at other schools. Back in the day they were referred to as “Blue Chip” recruits, but OUr roster was full of them. BOOMER!!!!

Yep, but that was a very well placed ball. Not too many pitchers out there that could have made that play.

    • StL Sooner says:

They called that a bunt, but it wasn’t. The girl swag away and that’s as far as she could hiring. More of a full swing tip, but definitely not a bunt.

  • UGA Sooner says:

I don’t know if this has been mentioned, but with the news of Tre Brown not being sure about his commitment, does anyone think we should worry about the fact that he doesn’t have Oklahoma mentioned in his twitter bio? Everyone else has “OU Commit”, for example, but he has nothing. I’m almost positive that he had Oklahoma mentioned earlier, but this reminds me of Lamb. Anyone think we should worry?

      • UGA Sooner says:

Yes, I saw that, but I’m 21. I sort of understand the way recruits think purely due to age. I dislike social media, but the fact that he doesn’t even have OU mentioned is worrisome. Lamb took off his affiliation to OU and look what happened. I hope I am wrong, but I am not sold on his rumors being put to bed. It’s probably just me over thinking it, but there is rarely a good sign when a commit takes the “OU Commit” off their twitter bio. Like i said, he could’ve never had that, but I am almost positive he did. I guess we’ll see, but I am not sold at all

        • Fear The Magic says:

I happen to agree with you. Right now its 50/50 if he stays committed IMO.

          • UGA Sooner says:

I’m around 50/50 also. I think the only thing keeping him is Broiles and the camaraderie of SS17. Which completely flabbergasts me because I would immediately go to Oklahoma, but not everyone is die hard like we all are. I hate to be Stephen Dale-esque with my negative thought of him potentially de-committing, but it just would not surprise me

          • Fear The Magic says:

You’re not being Stephen Dale-esque at all. I get where you’re coming from. If his commitment was that wobbly to begin with and he hasnt put the OU stuff back on his twitter I can see why your skeptical that all is well. I am too.
Anyway as has been mentioned its a long way till NSD so we shall see.

          • Boom says:

I think Tre would be a great addition and don’t want to lose him. However, if he chooses to move on I will wish him well but I know there are some other talented players who want that spot.

          • metzker says:

You guys have spoken the ntsnbn we are doomed!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Bob, I remembered reading that, just couldn’t remember where. I went through earlier today and waved. I pray you and your wife are doing well. Blessings friend!

    • Jed says:

It is what it is. Odds are we ‘lose’ at least one or two. Facts of life. All the coaches, fans and most of all players and recruits can do is stay positive. We’ve got an excellent program and an excellent class aborning. The future is blindingly bright but it’s not for everyone.

      • UGA Sooner says:

Oh, I know. I completely expect one or two of these current players to not end up with us. Maybe even more. But everyone is all for the fact that his rumors were put to sleep. This is not a jab at the TFB crew, but I don’t believe that he’s alright now. But like I told Bob, I guess we’ll see. I just seem to be the only one not agreeing with the fact that he’s alright now. I have never met this kid, but something just doesn’t feel right. I could easily be completely wrong. But I was just sending out a feeler to see if I have any one thinking this way, too

        • kt-raida says:

ironically I was thinking this the other day. I saw that ge didnt have that OU committ on twitter and thought ” I know i seen that there”. If we lose him it’ll sting for 5 mins then we will go back to the awesome guys who want to play for this top 5 blue blooded program.

          • UGA Sooner says:

I completely agree. I just hate to potentially lose a home grown talent. We’ve let enough slide throughout the years

    • kt-raida says:

It really blows my mind that Texas wouldn’t fold the LHN into a Big 12 network, still taking home the same amount of money, but ONLY if they move to another conference. So you’re saying the only way you’ll do it is for other schools who you have no relationships or history with, and if you loss your tremendous power that you wield in the Big 12?

      • blaster1371 says:

Yep. You nailed it. Texass is such a prima Donna that no conference would take thier snobbish attitude no matter what they might bring to the table. The SEC has achieved its desire to invade Texas with the addition of A and M and the Midwest with the addition of Mizzou. No way the west coast types would accept Texass. Texass is pissing in the only pool they can swim in and still be Texass.

        • RocketCitySooner says:

Completely agree. Would greatly prefer that OU and UT wind up in separate conferences.

      • Oscar says:

Robert “the blob” Allen was on the radio saying that both OSU and OU are heading to SEC if uterus doesn’t work with the conference. Would the SEC take the aggots?????

        • Defend Colfax says:

As much as I hate on OK State I think the SEC would enjoy having their Baseball, Football, and Basketball. Not to mention the agriculture affiliate.

        • Defend Colfax says:

As much as I hate on OK State I think the SEC would enjoy having their Baseball, Football, and Basketball. Not to mention the agriculture affiliate.

      • RocketCitySooner says:

As long as the LHN exists, Texas has the option of going independent.

Texas might fold the LHN into a conference network as long as they receive their $15M off the top and then equally shares all remaining revenue.

        • kt-raida says:

Independence: With this 13th data point making leagues consider adding teams it seems independence will not be the way to go if a school has playoff goals. And the Big 12 already said if they folded the network they would get the biggest chunk and it would be 15mil minimum. and thats when they made the ” not for the current conference” statement.

          • RocketCitySooner says:

Perhaps, except if you are Texas, you fully expect special treatment. You know, little things like only 12 data points.

Or, other little things, like getting the “biggest chunk”.

Texas and their “little things” are why the South West conference broke up and why the Big XII only has ten members.

If Texas wants to keep the Big XII together, then Texas will have to accept being treated as an equal and not entitled to “little things”.

      • Oscar says:

This is a good blurb from the Scout board:

mrlord4455 – “I started this thread with the idea that “Boren must be getting us out”. This thought was an attempt to predict or explain what was happening based upon the apparent facts.

This supposition was grounded on the basic given that Boren wasn’t an idiot, if fact he was smartest guy in the room.

        Those apparent facts were:

In the span of one year, all propaganda from OU did a 180 degree turn. From everything is great to doomsday. Boren himself taking a vocal lead.

The only thing to cause this 180 was the revelation that SEC and BIG10 revenues were leaving us behind in unacceptable amounts.

If it was money, none of the proposed changes would appreciably close the gap.

The proposed changes would not be implemented. Especially, if linked, as Boren said they must.

The GOR must be broken IF we wanted to leave. Therefore, this must be a part of the strategy, if that’s the case.

If these ideas are facts, what is his game?

        Questions:

If, the GOR is as iron clad as some say, or if we have no intention of leaving, WHAT IS HE DOING? This campaign was doomed from the start.

If, nothing happens, as many think, WHAT DOES HE TELL US? Sorry, I tried, but we’re stuck in an “unacceptable” money gap and we’re permanently “psychologically disadvantaged”.

Does it seem plausible that he would take this seemingly unwinnable position, so publically, just to get blown out?

Is he smart but just bungling this whole affair going back to 2011? Or, is his vision of Oklahoma not necessarily the best thing for the football team?

        • Mark_in_VA says:

  • cush creekmont says:

I wondered about the texas AG saying Baylor “sorta had to comply” with the new texas law on information even from private institutions. Then I read the following in a Waco paper – the AG is a Baylor graduate…

“Baylor sought to evade state law by insisting that these documents aren’t just law enforcement reports covered by the Public Information Act but materials used by Baylor’s Judicial Affairs Office and Title IX office and thus off limits. This rationale is so utterly absurd it ought to stand as a supreme embarrassment to the very eminent scholars at Baylor Law School who we presume see through this legal argument.

The fact the attorney general’s office has now made vague a new and very straightforward law feeds one more damaging narrative, casually noted by a lawmaker’s staffer who remarked to us that Attorney General Ken Paxton is a Baylor grad. As this scandal spreads like a toxic cloud beyond Baylor, it is gradually and surely claiming many others as complicit in this ill-advised strategy, regardless of whether they truly are.”
