– Amonte Caban: First of all gotta give credit to one of our regular posters, Zack, who first brought Caban to our attention. Yesterday Oklahoma offered the 2015 LB out of Smiths, Alabama. We will try to get in touch with him and gauge his interest in OU. But again, credit to Zack. Great eye!
– Brian Bosworth: Just want to thank The Boz again for his contribution, both in the write-up itself and his impressive message in the comment section, to our site today. And if any of y’all missed the either the post itself or his comment, please be sure to check it out here. It’s very inspirational.
One of the coaches from Armwood (where Jordan Griffin plays, and Eric Striker once played) took the comment and actually posted on their board to inspire the other kids. The end of the comment was particularly inspirational and though it may have been directed at young athletes, it feels very applicable to all people at any stage in life:
So in the end all I ask of any young athlete is to look into their individual mirror and honestly ask themselves…What is “MY Gift”? What do I want to do with “My Gift”? What am I willing to sacrifice for “My Gift”? and most importantly, Who do I thank daily for “My Gift”? Answer those HONESTLY and live those answers with HONOR and you will exceed what ever your dream is!!
– Gabriel Campbell: With the commitment of both Kenneth Mann and Tyrell Jacobs, some of you may be wondering if OU is still pursuing Gabriel Campbell. Or if he is even interested in OU anymore. The answer to both questions is, yes. We spoke to Gabriel earlier this week, and he said that he has let coach Jerry Montgomery know he plans on taking an official visit for the Tennessee game. That weekend is shaping up to feature a pretty ridiculous number of top recruits!
– Jamal Danley: 2015 JUCO OL Jamal Danley intended to take a trip to Norman earlier this summer. Unfortunately, those plans did not pan out so he rescheduled for an undetermined time later in the summer. We caught up with him yesterday, and he said it doesn’t look like he’s going to be able to make it to Norman for an unofficial visit. However, he insisted that he does plan on taking an official visit for the…wait for it…wait for it… Tennessee game.
– Lio Lafaela: Another 2015 JUCO OL, Lio Lafaela, tweeted out yesterday that he received his “official letter” from Oklahoma. We checked with him and he meant that he received his official offer letter. While Lio is currently committed to Texas Tech, he said he is considering taking an official visit to Oklahoma. More specifically he said, “I’m still undecided.” He said he has a bye week in September that happens to also coincide with the Tennessee game, and he said “that’s actually the one (the game) I’m trying to catch.”
– Cody Ford: Also spoke to 2015 OL Cody Ford about his decision timeline. Ford holds offers from OU, Arkansas, Mississippi State among others and is currently committed to TCU. If you’ve spent any time here on TFB, you know Ford is high on Oklahoma. He hasn’t decided yet when he will announce his decision, but did say he may wait until after he takes an official visit to Oklahoma. He also hasn’t set a date for that official, but said he’s got his eyes on the Louisiana Tech game.
– Ryan Newsome: Oklahoma picked up a great commitment from one of the most explosive WRs in the country this past weekend in 2015 WR John Humphrey. It is our understanding that OU would be fine taking only one receiver in this class, but for the right guy they would take a second. Ryan Newsome seems to be the ‘right’ receiver. Ryan Bartow of 247sports.com reported yesterday that Ryan Newsome has selected his official visit dates. According to Bartow, Newsome will visit OU on Nov. 8th for the Baylor game. Also per Bartow, Newsome will take officials to Tennessee, UCLA, Oregon, and Texas.
– Clark Yarbrough: 2016 OT Clark Yarbrough already holds offers from schools like Oklahoma, Michigan, Florida, Tennessee, and others. Yarbrough is a mountain of a man and incredibly athletic. Scary thing is he’s only been playing organized football for one year! His upside is off the charts.
Yarbrough made an unofficial visit to Michigan earlier this summer. Clark, his father, and brother made their way down to Norman this past weekend. He really enjoyed his visit to Oklahoma saying, “OU was awesome.” He said the trip “stacked up very well” against his trip to Michigan, and he’s “looking to get back to OU for a game.” If Coach Bedenbaugh fields another great OL this year, and with two potential NFL draft picks at tackle this year, Clark is the kind of player that Bedenbaugh may just be able to land.
– Brian Bullock: 2016 CB Brian Bullock out of Round Rock, Texas was also in Norman this past weekend. Bullock does not yet hold an OU offer, but is hoping to earn one during his jr. season (he’s got great sophomore film). Bobby Jack Wright is the coach who initially reached out to Bullock, and then Jerry Montgomery stopped by to visit him back in the spring. We don’t expect an offer to happen this summer, but he’s a CB to keep an eye on.
– Secondary: There has been a lot of talk about the potential of this year’s Oklahoma defense. And despite all the returning starters, there are some questions marks in the secondary after the loss of Aaron Colvin and Gabe Lynn. We’ve been talking to people regularly about the secondary, trying to keep up with the battles and the position changes.
From everything we’ve heard, it sounds like the open CB position is Julian Wilson’s to lose. Among other things, he brings valuable experience to the field in being a fifth year senior and extensive time at nickel back. In case you missed it, we previously discussed the potential of Wilson at CB here.
Another guy we’ve heard who has really started to come on is Ahmad Thomas. In the past, we were very skeptical about his potential to see significant time at the safety position based on conversations we’ve had with folks in and around the program. The general concern has always been that he may be too stiff for safety. But it sounds like more recently he’s been looking very comfortable.
A young guy we’ve heard has surprised some folks is true freshman Marcus Green. He is a little unorthodox we’re told, but he’s been effective. They’ve actually had him taking reps at corner. And while it’s unlikely he will see any action this year, he’s been receiving some early praise.
There has been a lot of movement in general at the safety/nickel positions. A few days back, we were hearing that Quentin Hayes was taking most of his reps at nickel as well as some at the field safety position. While Byrd was taking most of the 1st team reps at the field safety spot. Which put Thomas and (another true freshman) Steven Parker taking reps at the boundary safety position.
The coaches are obviously trying to move people around and find the right combination of players in the right positions. More recently we’re hearing when OU shifts from the 3-4 to their nickel package, Q.Hayes has been playing the nickel with Thomas at the boundary and Byrd to the field. In the standard 3-4 package, however, Hayes has been shifting back to the boundary safety spot. But interestingly, Thomas then moves to the field safety position.
Again, this is clearly a process and there are a lot of reps still to take before the opener. This is something that will continue to evolve and develop. By the time this is all said and done the starters could be players we don’t expect at positions we don’t anticipate. Things are very much subject to change as the coaches work to find the best combination of players.

Again I repeat look out for Jordan Phillips at DE on some downs with Wade in the middle.
Don’t know if they’ll do it but have been told that they absolutely believe Phillips can play DE in this scheme.
The talent that we have at DE is pretty amazing. That might just be our deepest position talent wise. Between Tapper, Ndule, Dimon, Ward, Walker and the possibility of Phillips moving over its pretty unbelieable. All of those guys could start for many D1 teams.
And that is a major credit to his extreme athleticism for a big guy. Or, any guy for that matter.
As crazy as it sounds and I thought you were crazy when you said this 3 months back, but they want him around 325 so I could see him playing DE if he can be explosive against the OT.
Talk about overloading one side of the line!!! Bring Striker from the other side and that’s not fair.
Any word on how Jeffery Mead is doing?
Mead has been impressive, but he’s so slender I think they really need to RS him just so he can bulk up
Havent heard a single thing about Carson Meier, hows he doing out there?
Have heard good things multiple different times, but I think w/ the three guys ahead of him that he’ll also RS
I think Marcus green could surprise a lot of fans in a couple years. I think he often gets forgotten about and some may think he was on such a good team in high school that he wasn’t the best player out if the school. But if I remember correctly he’s another track guy that ran in the 10.3 range for 100 meters. Please let me know if that’s right or wrong, if anyone knows?
I think that was Tito Windham he clocked a 4.3 at the SEC combine. Another great DB with great ball skills but got dinged due to his height.
Any talk about Bond?
All I’ve heard is he has been everything they expected him to be.
The word is that Bond is the reason for the Stryker move. More size and same speed.
The game with the Vols is already creating a level of excitement similar to the ND game in 2012.
I can’t imagine how this site would erupt if all the recruits planning on attending this game committed before they left town on Sunday.
I’m starting to wonder if we have TOO many big time recruits for one game. How can you host all of them for one game and give them all the best trip possible? Seems like there would be very little one on one time.
There is always a chance that can happen but my feeling has always been this is a team game and these other recruits are your possible future teammates, your brothers. I want kids that are excited about being with the other recruits and feed off that energy and excitement. The coaches make sure kids get one on one time but personally, if a recruit is turned off by not getting enough attention or spot light, I’m not sure that the kind of kid I want as a coach.
It will be game day. There won’t be much one on one time with recruits and coaches regardless of how many recruits attend. Before and during the game that will be up to their individual hosts.
After the game there will be time to visit with the coaches. Hopefully the excitement from the game and the smell of the pyro smoke will convince many/most/all of them to commit.
They have over 80,000 host! The atmosphere will make your skin tingle!
24 Days Till Football Time In Oklahoma! Another All Time Great Sooner today…
2 Time National Champion 1974 & 75
2 Time All American 1974 & 75
1974 NCAA Player of the Year
The man behind Sooner Magic in Mizzou “GO JOE!!”
The man with the Silver Shoes
Little Joe Washington
Boomer Sooner!!!
Had to be Joe.
My most favorite ankle-breaker of all-time.
/thanks soonerscott…wherever you are
He is one of my favorite RBs to watch of all time, he is just so pretty when he runs!
In an interview with The King about Joe, coach said Joe learned to cut and run at full speed from growing up in a house with a long narrow hallway. He would run down the hall cutting in and out of the open doors along the way.
Accroches-toi a ton reve…indeed.
The King, Little Joe and ELO!!
A gathering of champions.
Lovely story!
Here is a pic I took in college of Joe scoring without his helmet against OSU
That is an AWESOME picture!!!
My absolute all-time fave also. His ability to disappear under a pile of defenders and then, just when you were sure he was down, squirt out the other side and continue running was just incredible to behold. He was the kind of runner who could turn folks who didn’t like football particularly into fans. Spectacular.
Smoke through a keyhole, baby! He should have won that stiff arm trophy. Definitely on my all time Sooner favorite list. Boomer!
This season is coming up fast, I can’t wait!
Archie, you are a great RB, but it is time to hand over those ’74 & ’75 Heisman Trophies to their true owner, Joe.
Keke coutee or Ryan newsome? Who should they push for hardest? Or Kirk.
Kirk, but that won’t happen so Newsome…or Dahu Green. 🙂
I don’t think Kirk is totally out of the question. One thing that will always give ou a shot at these receivers is norvell and his résumé. I think keke is flying under the radar by some fans. If no newsome or Kirk then keke would be the next guy I would want for a slot guy. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like we currently want dahu but I like the kid a lot and think he could be special in college reminds me of Malcolm Kelly.
We did not make Kirks top 6. I guess we are out.
He released a top 6? I missed that but last I heard he wanted an official visit to ou.
It was just released on his twitter today
Our safeties last year Lynn and Hayes were a weak link. Hope we are better this year especially in tackling.
I am worried about the secondary!! Too much moving around, doesn’t look like the coaches even know where these guys fit best.
Practice just started, there are a lot of guys getting moved around, the secondary is just the one that is easiest to shuffle around.
Its all about getting the best 11 on the field and then creating the best match ups. Versatility is the key and you have to know what players can do what so you can put them in the best position to be successful. I love that they are moving guys around to find out who fits where best. Last thing you need is a coach who repeatedly tries to put the round peg in the square hole.
Nice illustration: “Last thing you need is a coach who repeatedly tries to put the round peg in the square hole.”- A well constructed sentence to express your point. Josh, keep up the good work. Your like a graduate assistant earning his way to be a part of the TFB staff. Nice contribution lately.
I think Freshman that contribute immediately shack things up this time of year! We hear about certain guys in certain places through spring & summer but then Freshman show up maybe Parker/Thomas comes in and is just a little better than Hayes/Byrd at Safety but Parker/Hayes/Byrd is just a little better Nickleback than the guy that is projected there. Not saying those guys specifically but when freshman come in and impresses it can sahack it up and move some folks around!
Any info regarding DGB and the paperwork OU was waiting on from Mizzou? Seems like Mizzou is dragging this out some.
Dear TFB,
I would like to renew my subscription for the next year. The amazing, unbeatable, and high quality content provided on a regular basis at an unbelievable price is simply too good to pass up on.
I will gladly pay the full subscription price.
Regards,
Loyal Sooner Reader
*pssst*…wait for the promo price.
I would but scared they’d sellout before I’d get a chance at the promo price! 🙂
<a href="“>LOL!
Tex you are still king of the one liners!
You mean it? For true?
Dear TFB,
What Sooner8494 said.
Sincerely,
D.
Hah….nice 🙂
I say the more, the merrier for the Tennessee game – Just hope we take care of business! I want as many guys as possible seeing us take care of an SEC team 🙂
Just curious if anything has been mentioned about Dwayne Orso. Will probably be a RS this year, but wanted to know if there has been any mention of him.
I think it was reported on here that hes up to around 300 pounds and may be moving inside to DT. Still think a redshirt year is likely due to all the depth we have up front
Yeah, but that was well before they put the pads on. Just wondering how he is looking now and if he got his shot at the Oklahoma drill.
The news on Thomas is why I pointed out what I did a week or two ago when you all posted he was out of the race. Never take 18-22 year old players opinions to serious. They often can’t see the forest for the trees due to their friendships.
One question though. What linebacker are they removing when going to their 3-3-5? I would assume an inside guy so that they still have pass rushers….but I am hesitant to assume such things with Mike.
Good note Paul in RE Thomas. I can tell you that it was an opinion even held by staff members. In fact there was talk of him moving to LB. But to your point…from what we’ve heard he’s fought his way back. And I think a lot of it is that he’s comfortable in the scheme which can sometimes compensate for a potential lack of flexibility or foot speed. And of course technique and flexibility development. Too early to tell what’ll happen but definitely getting the sense that based on how they’re using Thomas that the staff is much higher on him at the moment. In RE the LB question…haven’t heard the latest on that but last time we checked they were moving Geneo down to the 4i and Striker would move back to the Jack which would pull a DL off. But with the word that Geneo is working exclusively with the LBs that makes me wonder. Should get a better idea once they start scrimmaging.
Is there any new news about Missouri sending paperwork for DGB? Or the status of Mayfield?
Not sure on either yet but we’ve got some folks that will let us know early if those things get approved.
The idea of them shuffling players around in the secondary doesn’t sit well with me.
Especially with three weeks to go into the season and you don’t have guys locked into their positions.
Huh??? That’s the way John Blake’s staff did things. This is the time too be getting kids reps and find the right combinations. That’s what camp is for. No staff ” locks down ” anything this early in the game. We don’t “lock” anything down until the first game week. You reach your player most potential when they are competing for reps and starting slots.
Julian Wilson just got back from being absent all spring and (summer?) and they gave him the open corner spot.
The open safety spot has had these 3-4 guys competing all summer and spring and not only has no one emerged. Coaches are moving them around.
Coaches don’t know where to play them…
I see things differently.
Wilson has been “given” nothing, he is competing for that spot just like the other CBs.
If he missed spring and summer, this is the first I’ve heard of it.
As JK said, this is fall camp, this is where you find the best players for each position, as well as their depth.
There will be no game planning for La. Tech for about three weeks, and the roster is still subject to change after that game.
The Wilson to corner thing has been in the works for awhile. https://thefootballbrainiacs.com/ou-oklahoma-sooners-football-2014-julian-wilson-cornerback-dakota-austin-stanvon-taylor-mike-stoops
He had a shoulder injury for the spring game. It’s not like he just disappeared or something.
His shoulder injury only prevented him from tackling but he was still working his coverage on his own. And was working all summer. Having said that, it’s not necessarily a done deal but he is running with the 1s right now.
Jordan Phillips is by far our best NG but they are playing him some at DE right now. Eric stricker was defensive MVP of the Sugar Bowl and was disruptive all year as a OLB and they are playing him at Nickleback a lot right now. Geno Grissom had the game of his life as a DE in the Sugar Bowl and they are trying him at OLB for the most part. This is what camp is about, trying combinations and experimenting! If they are still moving people around in 3 weeks then we can start worrying IMO! And on Julian Wilson he started (11) and/or played in all games last year and has been a big part of our defense for 3 years so he didn’t just walk off in off the street, the coaches have a real good idea of what he can do. Almost everybody he is competting with has little to no playing experience at all! As far as Safties i think TFB have said for a bit that Hayes will more than likely start at one spot while Byrd was leading for the other spot but two freshman just got on campus and they are impressing people. Very Fluid time of year but all will be settled by Aug 30th at 6 pm!
Definitely……and the same process every single year because every season you have to competitively start from scratch. Mixing up the rotation also establishes who collectively plays with each other the best. This is pretty much considered establishing a starting line up 101.
Wilson has been here long enough. I think he may be more natural at corner. Either way, Byrd and Thomas at safety is good with me. Throw in Wilson depending on whether we are in the Nickel, and I think we will be strong.
What is funny is in hatari’s quotes from the other day he seemed to say he wasn’t being shuffled as much and it was making things much easier for him to just make plays and not think. He also seemed very confident in his words as though he felt like he was going to play quite a bit.
I think they just feel they have so many playmakers that they’re just experimenting with ways to get them on the field.
I think Mike wants to be able to keep a lot of the same personal on the feild and still be very mutiple in his formations so probably just seeing who can play where! I don’t think it is not because nobody can the hold the job but more about experaminting with options! IMO
Would love to see “tackling” made a focus in the secondary this year. 🙂
I hope sanchez has gotten better at that. AND not biting on the double move.
Word around OU is that the contract for the Bull Fighter they brought in to teach “OLE Tackling” on Derrick Henry for the Sugar bowl has not been retained for this year!
lol
Totally off topic, but will we ever hear from Yost and/or Ace? Just curious since they are identified as contributors in their bios. On that same note, I totally think it’s time for Jordan to get a caricature “TFB” avatar.
He has one. Word is they won’t use it because he has a good face for radio. 🙂
I nominate this for comment of the day.
Our illustrator made him one but he preferred the Zach Morris avi 🙂
All I have to say is he should have taken the one the illustrator made for him……and I don’t even have to see the new avatar to make that determination. LOL!
how dare you
That was risky of me. But heck, I want better for you Jordan.
He is just dreaming and wishing Kelly Kapowski was drapped over his shoulders!
Ace and Yost actually help us evaluate and gather info but we tend to write it. Having said that, Ace has an eval on Kenneth Mann coming soon.
wariboko and barnett……….are they in the ‘cone of silence’……….
Sooner fans shouldn’t worry about Barnett. Wariboko is going to find himself in a very interesting situation soon. His options aren’t as wide open as his offer list may indicate. He’s a guard…not a tackle.
Something coming soon for Barnett?
re Barnett….fwiw…..on the hog site, there is a poster on a Barnett thread stating there is an article on an ou site (I haven’t seen one though it might be one on scoop and I’m not a member) where Barnett says ou/hogs are dead heat…….has tfb talked with him lately?……….thxs
For it to be a dead heat I wonder if Arkansas is recruiting him to play right tackle where we want him as a guard?
If it’s the article I’ve read, he does not say that they are in a dead heat. He says those are his top two, doesn’t say either leads or nothing of the sort, just that those are the top 2.
If this is over the line or allowable info, please let me know. It’s basically just generalizations of what everybody already knows though.
If TFB says it you can take it to the bank.
I love Barnett! what a mauler and yes he’s ours to loose. I find it strange that Wariboko’s offer list is more impressive than Barnett’s. K, I find your last statement very interesting concerning Wariboko “His options aren’t as wide open as his offer list may indicate.” I realize elite tackles are much less prevalent than guards. So I guess your implying spots are going to fill up on him removing many of the offers. Is this correct? If so, wouldn’t the same reasoning apply to Barnett? I am very curious if you are insinuating something else. Thanks.
It may also have something to do with the Max stipulation. Only a few select teams are probably willing to offer and take a commit from a corner who right now is not projected as a starter quality corner…plus some may be turned off completely but the idea. Where as Barnett is projected as a guard but some scouts may say he can play right tackle, I only say that because some sites still show him as a tackle (which is what he’s played in HS)
That’s right, It totally slipped my mind about the Max situation. I believe you are correct concerning Barnett as well.
I think also a few of the teams that he was interested in like UCLA has got commitments from 3 OL and 2 of those are guards, LSU has 5 OL commitments and 2 are OGs,Lousiville has received commitments from 3 OL with 1 being a OG, and Clemson has a commitment from 4 OL and at least 1 is a OG. As he waits spots are getting taken everyday! He is very talented so I’m not saying he won’t find a spot but some schools may be full before he is ready to choose!
Updates on Devante Bond?
Bump
Last we heard he and Obo were rotating in behind Geneo. Bond has all the athleticism but they have to bring him along in terms of being able to allow him to do more things on the field
Secret Visitor last weekend = Kahlil Haughton
I think so also. Guess we will know one way or the other on Friday.
I’m not getting my hopes up on this one. I think tech has probably made the biggest impression on him. It seems like he’s always giving them s/o on twitter.
I don’t know guys…the silence is potentially telling to me.
Amonte Caban is probably in my top 5 of uncommitted prospects that we need to go get. Although I think an Alabama offer might come sometime during this season so that could be the game changer.
Loved the hits he laid and he seemed to read the offense fairly well. But I agree, you’ve got to think he ends up at Alabama or Auburn.
D-Backs will be an interesting position this year. Have to think it will be Sanchez, Wilson, Byrd and Parker with NB being Hayes…Thomas can come in as well and play.
I have to think with all these DBs fighting for starting positions and all the WRs doing the same, Boulware should be able to feild some pretty good special team units this year!
Can Byrd add on enough weight to play the Nic Harris position?
weighs a little over 200 so what are you thinking a DB should weigh.
Not too mention he supposedly has the build of a Greek God.
It appears that Christian Kirk has eliminated OU from contention. That’s okay…he’s been A&M, ASU, or UCLA the whole time anyway.
Shout out to my boy Zack on the Amonte Caban discovery. Your turning into an awesome online talent scout.
Thanks. I just came across the kid and wondered why he hadn’t committed to the great Alabama or auburn and saw his crystal ball for msu. And I was like we can go get this kid. Also I think 247 is higher on him than everyone else.
Good thinking buddy.
three questions: 1. If Julian Wilson wins the starting job at corner, will he mostly play press coverage? 2. Is Charles Walker playing nose or DE? 3. What is the latest with Cortez Johnson/ why don’t they try him at safety?
Yea, it seems like Cortez could turn into a great NB.
K- What was the point of teasing us with a secret visitor if you were never going to disclose the person? Maybe you were just so excited you had to say something, even if it was a tease.
Who ever said you’d never find out?
My guess is we find out in about 2 days?
This guy remains ignorant and indifferent.
My impetus was to evoke a response from K. Thus, as readers I think the more time that expires without an answer, the less significant it becomes to us. Meaning the excitement elapses as we forget and move on to other concerns.
Or we could start a pool like “Saving Private Ryan” to increase the desire to know who.
That’s a good idea. Your in charge Terry.
get back w/ me on this over the weekend
I know what that means 😉
As mentioned in the post I figured y’all would rather know there was another top recruit on campus without the name than know nothing at all. But I’ve learned my lesson lol
My bad K. My inner child got loose. The information you did give was stimulating as an OU fan. I know you try hard and I really appreciate that. That goes for you too Jordan, even if I don’t like your avatar. I truly appreciate all the hard work you guys put in and so does everyone here. The site is getting better all the time……….so my apologies.
Naw bro no need to apologize. It was something I hesitated to do initially and just thought that if I was in y’all’s situation would I want to know nothing or know at least something. I leaned towards the latter and maybe I shouldn’t have. Trust me I don’t blame you for wanting to know 🙂
I’ve asked a couple of times, did he enjoy the trip? You could tell us that much without revealing his identity, right?
Actually, it’s been fun listening to everyone guess who they think it is. You did the right thing, plus you have maintained your integrity.
Super K is going to start doing that every few weeks just to watch us squirm in our posts! LOL!
It came out on one of the pay sites. It was Leon Sandcastle.
I hope you didn’t over pay for that.
Any ideas on who will be the punt/kick return people this season?
I would guess that Quick would be in the mix. Beyond that, I’m not sure.
Perine had some experience and success in high school from watching his HUDL video. He would be hard to slow down.
Daniel Brooks has a little Roy Finch jitterbug style to his game and Roy did pretty well last year on returns. Not sure if he has any experience but he is just a little bigger than finch and it will be hard for him to get a ton of carries in OUr crowded backfeild. I also would have said Mixon but that is on hold till everything is resolved!
What’s a good estimate on the number of LB’s we plan to take this year?
2 ILBs and 2 OLBs I’d say

Jason if you don’t mind me jumping in on this, Ndulue (so?) on the other end. DAMN!!! Excuse my language but that just got the blood pumping. That would be devastating.
People are tAlking about who will be on punt return and kickoff return and I’m not sure but I know that Tito Windham should get a shot at punt return. Dude is elusive and can flat out fly!! I would even suggest Daniel Brooks or David Smith getting shots at kickoff return but punt return is a whole different mindset and position and you have to be hungry and play with a chip. Tito fits that mold in my opinion to a T
…..fwiw…….for pr……..so far, shep most mentioned………..for ko, combo of rbs
I hope Quick gets a look.
….agree……..first gotta’ have trust in making the catch and ball security after, but after that I would like the most dangerous in terms of breaking the play
He showed flashes of being an elusive and exciting return man in this video.
I like shepherd and he’s a sure handed guy back there but if you want a guy to flip field position then I don’t know if he’s going to be that guy. However I can see him getting a steady 10-15 yards most times to keep the offense out of holes. Another thing I just don’t want him taking extra hits when he’s our most experienced offensive player.
Yeah hard to say till we see these guys try to feild the ball! All the guys from last year are gone! Stoops doesn’t care if you can return it 25 yards everytime if you put the ball on the ground once “YOU GONE!”
Michiah Quick might be a sleeper to handle punt returns. Good hands and elusive moves.
I think they will try to redshirt Tito though.
I agree wityh Zack about redshirting Tito and I also think Brooks & Smith will get a shot on Kick Off returns. They have similarities to Clay & Finch from last year. I also said below in a comment that it will be hard to get those guys carries in a very crowded backfeild.
Yes I know Shepard is favored to be the PR guy but once he gets hurt it will be the same argument we hear every year about “Why does Bob put our important players on special teams” Tito is just as fast if not faster than Shep and won’t be the starting Corner
Good stuff guys!
