Open Post | Weekend, Apr. 8th – 10th (UPDATE Fri., 11:50 am)

We decided to go ahead and get the Weekend Open Post going. A quick note, we will be looking for a comment moderator. We apologize for some of the unsavory comments. They have been removed.

Boom Coming?: On the recruiting front, the Sooners are one of the hottest teams in the country. I spoke to a source earlier today and it sounds like Oklahoma could be expecting another commitment very soon.

In fact if the commitment happens, it could take place as early as Thursday evening. – (Super K)

Ceedee Lamb: I spoke to OU commit, Ceedee Lamb earlier today. He was expected to be in Norman this weekend but let me know that it doesn’t sound like he will be able to make it. Lamb’s birthday is this weekend and it sounds like his family has something planned for him. But he certainly wanted to make it back up to Norman. – (Super K)

– UPDATE (Thur., 8:42 pm): #boom.

– UPDATE (Fri., 11:46 am):

    Just waiting on the Boom.

  • DCinAZ says:

What comments? Did I miss something?

  • Lincoln Hawk says:

There were some hints to a boom on Twitter from some coaches, Gundy and Riley. My guess would be a WR.

  • Mizuno45 says:

Comment moderator, I thought Esco handled those duties? Anyways, bring on some of that boom boom.

  • ⚡️Electric Sooner⚡️ says:

A DT BOOM would make me very happy!

Maybe the TE from Cali or the Tre Sermon

        • ⚡️Electric Sooner⚡️ says:

No wonder we are getting closer to the number 1 class in the country!

          • Stephen Dale says:

hopefully these guys will play to their evaluations…recruiting titles didn’t mean much for Texas but have been a better barometer for Alabama…

        • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

Cooks is on another level. Viney is damn good, but Cooks is THAT dude. Loved seeing S Parker tweet a video of him and some other dbs having a BBQ at cooks house. His position players love him and will play their hearts out for him.

  • Stephen says:

So, assuming all current commits stay, are we done at WR/TE for this year?

  • Daryl says:

The 4 star streak is broken.

  • Will Narramore says:

So does this addition mean we are done at WR or since he is considered more of a TE do we still take Omar Manning as an outside WR? I would hope yes

  • DCinAZ says:

Write up on Calcaterra. Watch the sick clip at the top of what he does to that DB.

  • Thomas Lenard says:

As far as Moderator goes, I would put my name on the list as well. I am on TFB almost all the time mon-fri 8-4, and then some on weekends and evenings.

    • JB says:

I vote for Stephen Dale as a mod

      • SamSooner says:

Is there a white van parked outside your house?

        • metzker says:

          Should be for saying tntsnbm

          • SamSooner says:

            Yeah, that’s it.

          • JB says:

So, what was said (generically, not specifically) that is requiring the need for a mod?

The one thing I would like to see from the new mod is to instantly wipe out those posts that say, “My friend made $3,000 from home last month using this really weird trick…”

          • SamSooner says:

JB, I’m not quite sure what was said yesterday. I missed it. But I’m assuming it was in the realm of what “CasterTroyBoy”, “BloodRed” and “King” used to post. I believed all of the post were deleted; that’s how bad it was.

          • JB says:

I have no idea what they posted, so it’s probably better I remain in ignorant bliss. I’ve only zipped by a few times lately to see if anyone committed (Yay! Calcaterra!!) without reading many posts. I’ve been a bit depressed by that final Four game so I’ve tuned out sports for a while to exploit the “out of sight, out of mind” effect. I tend to do that after an OU loss..

          • SamSooner says:

Losses can be hard. But I’ve adopted the attitude of you can’t win it if you’re not in it.

          • metzker says:

            You nailed it Sam.

          • Drew says:

The usual things about sexual relations with posters, with posters’ wives/mothers, insults towards Christians, complete disrespect towards players/former players, mocking the mods, etc.

          • JB says:

Ah, the classy stuff! We need more of those people…to jump off a cliff

        • JB says:

Just a bit of sarcasm. I would no more vote for Stephen Dale as a mod than I would vote democrat in a political election.

          • SamSooner says:

I know. I hope I didn’t offend you. I apologize. I was trying to be funny, too.

          • JB says:

Not in the least offended, sir! I tdidnt see a white van, but there is a silver van parked outside!

          • SamSooner says:

Well, I guess you’re good. But, I’d keep an eye on that van. If it’s there for more than 24 hours, don’t go near it.

  • Jim Casy says:

Please be careful with the moderation. There are some people in here that expect everyone to think, speak, act exactly the same. Their idea of perfection is a nice little homogeneous community. They would be perfectly happy having only the same 5 or so posters on this board every morning. This is bad for society in general and it is, in my experience, bad for blogs/forums/whatever.

    • Jordan Esco says:

No plan to change anything in terms of moderation. All opinions have been and will remain welcome here. All we ask is for a respectful environment.

    • DCinAZ says:

Agreed. There are some people in here that definitely want their own little comfortable coffee shop full of stepford posters.

    • SamSooner says:

Jim, I’m not disagreeing with you. In fact, I agree with you. Diversity is good. But there are some people who come on here that have zero interest in a discussion, they just want to stir the pot. By discussion, I mean I want to hear your point of view. Okay, now, here’s my point of view. That’s good. It’s always good.

      Jordan summed it up below.

  • metzker says:

Hmmmmm kinda strange but ill open up BOOMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND
    its 7:23 and texsa sucks!

  • Jordan Esco says:

May have missed this if it has been out there previously, but first I can really recall of hearing it, fwiw.

  • SamSooner says:

ICYMI: there are some questions about McGuinnis, I believe. You can’t question his speed. On one of the plays he was able to keep up with Mixon on a route downfield.

    https://twitter.com/OU_Football/status/718422564188459010

    • metzker says:

Yep stayed with him fer sure.

    • hOUligan says:

Thanks for bringing that to my/OUr attention, Sam. I had missed it. And his coverage ability coming in was the area in which he needed the most improvement. Really hoping he is able to rise to the top of the depth charts by his play and start seeing some minutes.

      • SamSooner says:

Thanks, hOUligan. It becomes easy to look for faults. Not that you are. You’re a good person who happens to be a hooligan (Ha! I couldn’t resist). I don’t think you can discount this young man. Hurricane Katrina left a mark on this man. He’s had it very hard. I think he’s motivated.

        • metzker says:

Yep he is a bad@#$$%$$## er,he needs to get on the field!

        • hOUligan says:

Yeah. EasTex and I were on here the night ‘Hulk’ committed and we all went wild. Really wanted him. Kid started his own non-profit in hs, something like ‘The 55 Club’. Seems like a great young man. Now I want him to do great things on the field, too.

  • metzker says:

Sure is slow around here, but nice BOOM overnight.

impressive ! amazing what boxing in the endzone has done to change the stadium. Hopefully a new pressbox ( sometime in the future ) will change it more….This is going to be one , impressive structure when finished….

    • metzker says:

      Nice read Doc.

    • SamSooner says:

Doc, that’s just what the doctor ordered (sorry for the play of words. See my response to hOUligan).

What is more evident than anything, to me, is the marketing and branding that OU has going. I mean, “There’s Only One”, “OUDNA”, “SoonerSquad17”. I mean, that’s impressive and it’s paying off, BIG time.

      • DR LEO MARVIN says:

The kids helping recruit the kids has been a big help. Along with all of the new social media stuff they are pushing on other recruits. Sooner Squad 17 is alive and well. Our California recruit numbers since 2012 are impressive.

        • SamSooner says:

Yep. Hey, but did you notice that they pulled back on the “#OUDNA” once “SoonerSquad17” was having a bigger impact. That’s smart and better yet, great awareness.

SoonerSquad17: what a great group of guys. They really care. Can you imagine how close this team is going to be. I’m calling it right now, when OU wins it’s next championship, expect to see multiple repeat championships. Don’t be surprised to see three or four. It’s just a feeling.

          • hOUligan says:

Getting closer but IMHO it’s going to take a couple more classes to get to the ‘multiple’ level. SoonerSquad17 is rolling strong and the ’18 class is off to a great start w/ Brey Walker and a fav for OG Curtis Dunlap from IMG.

            Me playing next to @BreyWalker gone have oklahoma going crazy fr. #BoomerSooner #OUDNA #OU— Cj2k ○● (@CurtisDunlapJr) March 31, 2016

  • Jpsooner23 says:

    Recruiting strategy moving forward:
Stoops ensures current SS17 squad stays on board by staying in close contact until NSD (along with some intervention from their position coaches occasionally).
Cooks teams up with Tib and Mike/Kish and tells all the DL/LB kids, “Look fellas, we are gonna be on lock down on the back end and bringing the house up front all day. You wanna get some sack stats, highlight hits? Come with us.”
LR and Gundy team up with coach B. “Look big fellas, do you see these athletes behind and around you? These guys are going to make you look really good boys. You are the missing piece to this offense blowing up the record books.”

    • SamSooner says:

JP, I like where you’re going with this.

If it were me, given the depth at DL, I’d have two starting DL units: 1a and 1b. I would make wholesale rotation each possession and bring the house every time. Rotating two units keeps everyone fresh and eventually you would wear down any OL.

    • hOUligan says:

Agree. With the exception of Sermon or whichever RB, need to go balls to the wall recruiting the linemen and another LB or 2. Wanna hear some heavyweight booms!!

      • Jpsooner23 says:

Yea, the RB thing crossed my mind, but I think we’ll get what we need there. We always seem to.
And if we get big uglies then those RB’s don’t have to be 5 stars!

    • Scott says:

It would be awesome if Anthony Hines committed this weekend , but for Dline recruits I think Greg Rodgers & Deontae Watts are locks IMO.

  • GrandeBass says:

Kinda surprised ND would allow this. (Sunday is a day of rest and what have you)
But if true, religion be damned.

Had heard this was a possibility a couple months ago. Very interesting… https://t.co/gBkyw7YyxF— Jake Trotter (@Jake_Trotter) April 8, 2016

Update, its 12:24 and texsa still sucks! Can i get an Amen.

  • RobWild says:

I’ll moderate for free, I spend most of my time on here anyway and I’ve been a mod and community lead for over a half dozen web forums in my time.

    1. No more brigading. This website has a very real problem with its members attacking people just because they don’t mindlessly worship the common rhetoric point of view. You have a half dozen to a dozen members here who just gang up on everyone that disagrees with ANYTHING that isn’t mindless sunshine pumping and it is so stifling to any chance of having a real discussion. It’s important that people people understand that conflict and arguments are imperative for a healthy forum. Your beliefs are only strong when they can be challenged. Otherwise how do you know you are right? How are you ever going to be introduced to new talking points or ways of thinking if everyone is simply repeating the same thing over and over? Homogenization is the death knell of freedom of speech and freedom of thought.

    2. No more permanent bans right out of the gate. Users should be warned, then muted, then temporarily banned, then permanently banned. The way it is now this website is essentially one giant trigger free safe zone for bible throwers and country club sooner fans. Maybe that’s what you want, I don’t know, but that is not conducive to healthy site traffic. You want those big numbers then you need to take the training wheels off and let people be themselves. As far as I’m concerned the only things worth banning are outright racism, sexism, spam, or strong and consistent anti OU/Oklahoma feelings. @Jordan if you’re going to run a safe space for sunshine pumpers then it doesn’t make sense for you to get upset when you put a half days worth of great work in an OP and only gets 15 comments. People are not going to want to be apart of a forum where they can’t speak freely.

    3. The homogenized rhetoric spewers on this website are NEVER held accountable for their actions. Ever. That stops immediately. If you want to attack others it is nonsensical for you to cry for bans or start posting quippy banhammer memes when they attack you in return. There are way too many people on this board that deliberately provoke others then run to Jordan hoping he bans them and of course he obliges because he just wants the BS to stop. To me this where a mute really shines. The best way to solve a problem is to make it go away, and sometimes all you have to do is separate the unruly kids from one another.

    4. Or you could just promote one of the teacher’s pets and watch as this board slowly continues to de evolve into something resembling a robotic cult where free speech and free thought are non existent. Whatever. I lurk 90 percent of the time anyway.

    Toodles.

    • DR LEO MARVIN says:

Sounds like you KING you may go now.

    • paganpink says:

EVERYONE of the few banned from this site deserved no temporary bans or any other halfway measure. As far as “brigading”- if someone disagrees with someone else why shouldn’t they speak up? And if more disagree then agree with the statement so be it. Who are you? You sound like Toy Boy himself. Go away.

      • RobWild says:

People shouldn’t be banned for disagreeing, which is exactly what I said sweetie.

        • paganpink says:

Castor calls people “sweetie” too. Go to hell. We know who you are and I don’t need your anti-Christian nonsense or imaginary moderation now or any other time, loser!

          • RobWild says:

I’m not Castor. Jordan please ban this person for being disrespectful. I am not going to troll anymore, I’m just going to start asking for bans because that is apparently how it works here.

          • paganpink says:

Stick it troll! Your words show who you are.

          • SamSooner says:

            Pagan, let it go.

          • RobWild says:

Ban please, Jordan you said disrespectful behavior would not be tolerated and yet…….I rest my case. You can’t expect people to defend themselves if you’re only going to intervene when it escalates.

          • CrimsonNative says:

So, why escalate it? Why not just let it go?

          • RobWild says:

Am I the one being insulting here? Where is this “be the bigger person” logic when you all are ganging up on people like Stephen?

          • CrimsonNative says:

I didn’t say that you were being insulting, I just asked why continue to escalate the situation? I agree that SD gets the short end of the stick. He kind of antagonizes it at times too. SD is a good guy who gets people upset because he’s a little more of a realist than some of us crimson colored glasses are. To each their own for how they think and view they’re teams performance but, there’s no room for what you are trying to do here. It’s not the way to go about making a positive change…if that’s what you are looking for.

          • RobWild says:

He antagonizes it by not simply regurgitating what everyone else does? THAT IS MY POINT. I have never seen him say something that I felt warrant him being attacked (although I really don’t keep up with any of your posts besides Jordans).

Me? If you make things personal that’s my greenlight that you can handle the heat. If you can’t….

I agree that his negativity towards the program really sits on that devil’s advocate line but then again there’s a lot of Sooner fans out there that are going through championship withdrawal. We need to win. For so long Oklahoman’s were only able to validate their existence to the world through their football program and we HAVE to win. 16 years without a title is FARRRRRR too long. Every single of you knows that frustration, so you should understand that some of us feel it way worse than others and we just want it to stop. You can’t call yourself a fan of this school and not understand or empathize with this dichotomy of fanhood/fanhate.

Sunshine pumpers I can handle but fairweather fans would be scalped if I had my way

          • CrimsonNative says:

Now you’re just being absurd. What’s the point?

          • RobWild says:

I agree that its totally, completely, hilariously absurd how the ‘rules’ here are enforced. That is why I am throwing my hat in the ring.

I can help this community and so I am trying.

          • paganpink says:

As if what was posted 2 days ago was simply “disrespectful” That’s the giveaway that you’re the same psycho using yet another name. GO AWAY.

          • RobWild says:

Because two people in the world hurt your feelings we’re actually the same person and apparently psychotic?

This is where a mute would really come in handy. Or a ban.

      • CrimsonNative says:

I do agree that Castor, King and Himself deserved no less than the hammer.

        • SamSooner says:

Crimson, this is a slippery slope: Rob’s post. I’m not for censoring what people think. But the one’s I disagree with are those who never post anything until something negative happens. Then you see folks come out of the woodwork. Watch what happens when someone decommits. It’s not even close to what happens when someone commits.

          • CrimsonNative says:

Haha…yeah, you are definitely right about that. I guess it’s kind of like online reviews. Not that many people will take the time to make a positive review but they can’t wait to get to the computer so they can make a negative review.

I don’t agree with censoring what people think either but, I know JE has a life and can’t be babysitting this forum 24-7. It would be nice to have maybe, a mute option? That way if I don’t like what one person is saying or “advertising” I can just mute him/her and that’s it.

          • RobWild says:

Most forums have a mute/block option. I’m not saying I have always been a nice person, but I’ve only ever been not nice to people that attack me. Mute options work because if a person doesn’t play nice eventually they won’t have anyone to talk to.

Btw look at Paganpink below and tell me that his behavior is conducive to a healthy forum. Not at all. Yet if I were to defend myself to him what would happen? The board would gang up on me and I would eventually be banned.

Where is the common sense, logic, reason, and above all fairness in that?

          • paganpink says:

            WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE.

          • RobWild says:

And who am I? If I was banned then how am I here?

          • Malicong says:

Not saying you are “that person” but…
For one, you sure do know a lot about what has happened with people being banned for someone that just signed up today.
Second, you use the same tone and phrasing as the continual problem and post in nearly the exact same manner.
People are openly allowed to express any opinion they have here. No one has ever been banned for posting their sports opinions. But if you come in with something ridiculous or overtly negative just for the sake of starting an argument, you should be prepared to defend your position with fact and logic, not insults and threats. I have had both good and bad conversations with “that person” and he did bring up good points from time to time, but it always went to far.
If you are the one that has been banned before and are going to post without grandstanding, insults, and threats, most won’t have a problem with that. But If your only goal is to cause trouble, then please stop trying.
If you are indeed a new member, welcome, and It would be in everyone’s best interests if you tried not to emulate the people that have been banned previously.

          • RobWild says:

‘But if you come in with something ridiculous or overtly negative just for the sake of starting an argument you should be prepared to defend your position’

That is exactly what happens until one of you makes it personal, then it escalates, and eventually the entire board is crying until Jordan has to step in. I am putting forth a plan of action where his presence is no longer required to maintain lines of discussion that benefit the board as a whole, not just a select group of users.

          • Malicong says:

Yes and no. Many times the defense is to tell someone they are beneath you, are somehow physically inferior to you, aren’t as good of a fan as you, no one cares about you, etc.
I have never once insulted anyone on the is board, but you have tried to insult to me many many times. I don’t take offense because I really don’t care, but it isn’t conducive to a productive conversation.

          • RobWild says:

This board has a systemic problem, and I’m glad you’re not apart of it, but it still exists.

I have no idea what you’re talking about otherwise

          • Malicong says:

Touché. Let me rephrase, the insults came from Castor, King, Hard Target, etc or whatever his name was at the time.

          • Jpsooner23 says:

Dude, that’s who you are replying to right now. Same guy.

          • Malicong says:

I am well aware. But until he admits it, I can only go by his word.

          • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

YOU ARE SUCH A BAD PERSON, EXHIBITING ALL OF THESE UNHEALTHY FORUM BEHAVIORS.

          • Lincoln Hawk says:

Hey bud I think you have a lot of valid points and some good knowledge when it comes to our beloved football program. I hope that in the future you can tone it down a bit with the insults and profanity and we can actually have some very good civil debates about a lot of things. Just a thought and I understand if you don’t want to, I have seen some very good points that you have brought up about football etc. I’m not looking to start another argument between us. Thanks for any consideration and hopefully we can have some great thought provoking discussions in the future.

I don’t take anything seriously. I’ve lived through too much to let any of it get to me.

My great grand mother was the oldest living OU alumni when she died (100 years old) and she graduated from the U in 1918. Every generation of my family has gone since and I’ve spent more money on supporting my team than most people here will ever earn.

Say whatever you want about the type of person I am, but the type of fan I am is above reproach. There is only one person on this board who would kill for their program, and its none of you.

I wish I could say the same about you but I don’t know. Everyone starts at zero with me. Its up to you to earn your value.

          • Lincoln Hawk says:

I’ve never questioned your support for the Sooners, I think it is genuine. I think you can make your point without throwing in a backhanded insult at the rest of the board about how much money they do or don’t make. Sooner fans come from every demographic, and each one are passionate about their team, however I’m not sure any other would actually kill for OU football. Life, at least to me, is way more important than any football that can ever be played. And for the record, if you really are a veteran of our armed forces, I appreciate your service.

There’s the grandiosity. Fake piousness and superiority over all others. Check, check and check.

          • RobWild says:

Go away. What you’re doing is harassment.

          • SamSooner says:

It’s bad. I don’t know why people don’t like peace. You’d think hat if i’m not bothering anyone that no one would bother me.

          • CrimsonNative says:

I hear ya, I don’t get it either. This is supposed to be a fun place to come and talk sooner sports with like minded people.

          • SamSooner says:

I think I’m done for the day. It’s no wonder RBear doesn’t come around anymore. As for EasTex, I’m not sure, but I know he doesn’t like the constant negativity.

What some don’t seem to understand, with some of the volatile reaction, you could never have a face to face conversation with them. I’d be too afraid a fight would start.

If I can’t talk with you, cordially, on the web without it getting chippy, I’d never attempt to have a reasonable conversation face to face.

            I’m out. I’ll catch y’all tomorrow.

          • RobWild says:

In a face to face situation none of you would ever attack me so there would be no volatile reaction. If you’re really that sensitive to disagreement then you shouldn’t be attacking anyone at all.

Not calling you out or saying you’ve done anything wrong, just pointing out that courtesy doesn’t magically start and magically end with one person.

          • metzker says:

            Later Sam.

          • DR LEO MARVIN says:

            Later Sam keep it real.

    • CrimsonNative says:

You do make valid points. Can’t say I disagree with you.

      • paganpink says:

Nahh. He’s mad about “bible throwers” because one member responded to streams of obscenities and threats to rape his wife by offering Christian kindness and an admonition to follow the lord?! That’s ridiculous.

    • MoJoOkie says:

I think perhaps what you have labeled “brigading” might actually be majority rule. This board is pretty tame most of the time and there is reasonable exchange of thought. Bold/rash statements are generally challenged, but if one can substantiate the basis for such, then reasoning generally rules.

Now if you’re defending someone who wants to come in and sling crap on the walls to foster their ego, I (for one) am not a big fan.

As for ban length, I don’t have a dog in the fight. I think this is the best board I’ve been on and I’ve been on pretty much all of them (all the way back to the weather boys).

Edit: Just realized you are you. Please disregard my post.

      • RobWild says:

Majority rule is nonsense. If the majority says 2+2 = 5 does it become true? Logic and reason transcend populist opinion, and the people here instigating trouble are the ones who are here and never punished.

I want to talk football. I am done defending myself to people that are not a threat to me.

    • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

I nominate that you don’t moderate this board. We’re big boys and girls and can communicate effectively and respectfully. We don’t need a babysitter.

      • RobWild says:

I wish that were true, and for the most part I think that it is. The exceptions to the rule always manifest to the detriment to the board though.

      • RobWild says:

How so? What did I say that is wrong? Any chance of some actual debate or is personal attacks (that you clearly won’t be punished for) all I can I expect?

Point out where I was wrong specifically.

    • Jordan Esco says:

You make a lot of good and fair points, but if I may quickly address a few.

      1. I’ve never, nor will I ever, just outright blindly ban someone. In every instance, I’ve given not one, but multiple warnings/requests for the b.s. to stop. If it doesn’t then, yeah, you’re gone. You get one and only one warning, I feel I’ve made that abundantly clear. Whether or not that’s fair, frankly I don’t really care. The expectations of those who comment here have been made pretty clear IMO and in place for sometime. I’m not here to babysit people.

      2. Dissenting opinions may be the minority here, but as far as I’m concerned there are not disallowed or muted, at least in terms of moderation. You need look no further than one particular person who comments here regularly and tends to rub some people the wrong way (THIS IS NOT ME CALLING THAT PERSON OUT, RATHER SIMPLY UTILIZING THEM AS AN EXAMPLE TO MAKE A POINT). You don’t have to drink the Kool-Aid just to be accepted here. I’m proof enough of that.

      3. Unfortunately, there is no ‘mute’ function available thru this comment system, be it for an admin or otherwise. Or at least not one that I’m aware of, though if that is not the case I’m happy to be proved incorrect.

      4. Respectfully, the notion that free speech and/or thought are not tolerated here, let alone welcome/encouraged, is laughable to me.

  • RobWild says:

I guess Grant isn’t taking us that seriously if he’s going to commit and take an unofficial visit 2 days later. OU is not a spot holder.

    • Stephen Dale says:

i’d keep Robinson and Manning on speed dial if this occurs..I agree with you….Cut bait and move on.

    • Greenlantern Otis says:

id take visits and committ still it happens all the time

      • RobWild says:

To me that’s a soft commit. I know coaches do this a lot, but if Ausbon or Manning comes along and wants to play for us Grant’s offer is the first one getting pulled.

Broiles, Brown, Bandy, Draper, Reagor, and Chris Robinson haven’t taken any visits since they committed and every single of them is a higher rated player than Grant. Just saying.

        • Greenlantern Otis says:

yea i see u rpoint but id take em if i was a 3 star that was finaly getting some shine. plus isnt he in cali it would be diff if he committed tyhen was like off to florida i go to see the gators or fsu

    • Jdizzle says:

That listing has been there forever (minus the ou commitment). That may be outdated information…

    • DCinAZ says:

On his commitment thread in LT, I told everybody that we got in on him early and that the Cali schools were using his senior year to further “evaluate him” and that as soon as he committed to OU, they would all come after him. Have confidence in SoonerSquad17 and the relationship we built with him early.

    • DCinAZ says:

    • Dave Wilkins says:

I’ve noticed the list of visitors fro the Red/White game has been updated all week. If Grant shows up tomorrow with the other guys that would be cool. Maybe he committed last night due to the amount of visitors tomorrow?

    • Brian says:

Good for him – Not sure we had a spot for him anyway

Jeff Okudah, Kary Vincent Jr, Ambry Thomas, Grant Delpit, and Deangelo Gibbs are the short-list

        Not real well in waco.

      • RobWild says:

I agree. While I do think he is definitely capable of doing something like this, false rape accusations at colleges are at an all time high (as well as the title IX lawsuits against the schools from the falsely accused) and it seems really suspicious to me that someone would drop this right before Shawn is about to get paid and not when it happened.

I feel like someone is trying to take advantage of the scrutiny the program is under right now. Even if Shawn didn’t do anything I could see the university paying to shut her up just to get this out of the public eye.

        • metzker says:

Apparently, they have done it before,i mean payed someone off.

        • Dick Bump says:

I think the alleged rape happened early Sunday morning based on the report I read.

          • RobWild says:

Honestly that only makes it worse. It’s impossible for me to believe that Oakman is stupid enough to rape a girl when he is on the verge of making millions and the university is already being attacked on all sides.

They met at a nightclub and she went home with him. I don’t buy that rape BS at all.

          • Malicong says:

Oakman isn’t known for his intelligence, though.

      • DR LEO MARVIN says:

Nah they will pay someone off.

  • metzker says:

Hey everybody i just got an email from scout saying we got a new commit,Grant
    LMAO.

  • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

“Hardware don’t lie” you say? Go compare that to UGA and TU, combined.

  • metzker says:

I see on the visitors list Hines does not say possible anymore,so i take it he is going to be here now?

  • Matt says:

has Hines put a timeline on his recruiting? has he said he’s waiting until NSD to commit?

    • metzker says:

Not sure of timeline, ill be happy if he makes it in SaturdayThe 17 will reel him in..

      • Matt says:

it sounds like he’s been around the program a lot the past couple years and been around the commits also. It sounds like he knows what he has at OU. He must still be looking around making sure he’s not missing something elsewhere so I wouldn’t think a commit would happen to OU anytime soon.

Ok, here we go. First off let me say “It is always a great day to be a SOONER”, With that being said let me continue and please if anyone disagrees with my trademark statement let me know. I have not posted in two weeks now but i have been lurking in the shadows for that time. Life is definitely a two way street and everyone has disagreements from time to time but everyone is entitled to their opinion. Does this make either one of them wrong and or right of course not. This is the only social media sight that i use and would love to continue to be here with the TFB Family, but if things continue to go the way that they are then it may be the end for all of us not just one or two. When this site first started it was unlike anything out there and to a degree it is still the TOP NOTCH PLACE TO GO FOR EVERYTHING OU. I will be the first to say i dont agree with some comments but who am i to say that they are wrong. But there is such a thing as respect for one another. When you start talking about ones spouse, religion, race, financial status, sexual innuendos,etc.,etc. that is where everyone should draw the line. This site was made for something that most everyone here cares about and that is “OUR BELOVED SOONERS” Please feel free to respond with your feelings on this it is what it is and you are free to have your own feelings on this situation just as I am.

    • Stephen says:

Except 4 out of the 5, P5 conferences voted to shut down satellite camps.

      • SamSooner says:

I know. But the votes are self-serving. The $EC has made it clear that they don’t want Harbaugh or Franklin in their neck of the woods. The Big XII (Texas schools) was stupid to give this the nod, considering the SEC is in your back yard. If you think the $EC needs to set up camps to have a presence, that’s stupid. The only reason the ACC gave it the nod was to not tip the balance toward the $EC.

The most recognizable brand out there is the $EC. By voting “yes” the $EC got everyone to do their work for them. The obvious choice was to say “no.” But apparently it wasn’t clear that they were being hoodwinked. They just got stronger.

        • RobWild says:

Also consider this really punishes recruits who don’t have the money to travel to camp outside their geographical area. It’s definitely intended to give schools an advantage over kids in their area (specifically the SEC as you said)

    • hOUligan says:

So…. maybe he was on to something way back then ….

    • RobWild says:

Amateurism went out the window when they started limiting OVs and transfers. That has absolutely no basis other than maintaining a competitive imbalance.

Do regular students have to limit the schools they can visit before applying? Do regular students have transfer restrictions?

      I rest my case.

      • 47 Straight OU Know says:

Being a new college student i can answer this. Yes i could visit as many schools as i wanted. But i believe it is different for athletes, is it not. Because OV’s are paid for by the college and UOV’s are paid by the student and/or family?

        • RobWild says:

Ok lets go back a bit though. The foundation of amateurism (athletes playing with no financial compensation) is that student athletes are students *first* and athletes second.

When you limit things like a players ability to transfer, or impose an transfer penalty on them, you are putting the game above the kid, and at that point you need to start talking compensation.

Drumm’s going HAM on these bitches because he’s pissed that it’s getting more and more obvious that this amateurist nonsense is getting out of control.

          • 47 Straight OU Know says:

Dont get me wrong i believe totally that a student should have the right to choose where he/she wants to get their education. But then again the athlete should think about life after sports before going to a college that is only supportive of his/her athleticism.

          • Jpsooner23 says:

Just FYI, you posted a very long and intuitive post earlier and are having a convo with the main culprit.

          • RobWild says:

            When?

          • RobWild says:

Well the big issue here is that a lot of kids, even some of the best in the nation, depend on these camps. That’s where they get their brand out. That’s where they get noticed.

It really punishes kids who don’t have the ability to travel outside of their immediate geographic area.

          • RobWild says:

I wonder, with all this talk about the Moderator and the objectionable content put on by some readers, if anybody ever uses the vote down button (v) under the comments. Seems like the site could be set up to automatically remove comment after 20(random number) down votes of a comment. Likewise if it kept track of who all had comments removed then after a total of say 10 (again random number) comments are removed then that person gets the ever dreaded “Ban Hammer!” I agree with 47 below in that there has to be a way to disagree without getting personal or overly aggressive! An example for me is our very own Jordan Esco. He is what I consider a Debbie Downer(said with all the love in the world) and I am what he considers a Little Mary Sunshine. LOL! We even had a couple of comments early on that I don’t think we each appreciated very much. But I will tell you that hands down he is my favorite poster and article writer on this site now! If you are here very long you can feel the passion he has for OU and that is the same passion that I have. Sometimes we express it differently but at the end of the day WE BOTH LOVE ALL THINGS OU! I sincerely hope a resolution can come to this small problems by a few people. This is hands down the best fan site for OU there ever has been or ever will be! Thanks again to Jordon Super K and the guys for everything you do!

The problem is not identifying someone who is using objectionable content. That is usually dealt with quickly, very easy to see. Problem here is the same guy keeps coming back. This time he is not giving a direct reason to be banned (whereas before it was pretty simple). He is just redirecting the board from its purpose. It’s the same person just a different MO this time.

But there are some who come here expecting to change other’s opinion 100%: you must put aside your own beliefs and take up theirs. We all know that’s not reasonable and it’s reasonable to expect the obvious to happen: WWIII.

Earlier this week one poster very cordially raised some concerns about the gifs. What happened? Nothing: no one took offense; those gifs ceased. I respect that person more than before because he didn’t say anything. He was simply respectful and understood that his point of view was not unanimous and not accepted by everyone. I don’t think so, at least I haven’t seen one. I’ll be there with my grandsons. Are you going?

    • BleedCrimson says:

      I will be there.

    • Kevin Moore says:

My son and I will be there. I guess I need to update my pic, since he’s 5’10 and 230 now! ; )

    • 47 Straight OU Know says:

Won’t be able to attend this year. Sad to say.

  • 47 Straight OU Know says:

    Anyone lurking?

    • SWoods says:

      Yessir

    • paganpink says:

      How’s it going? Nice weather!

      • 47 Straight OU Know says:

        Beautiful

      • 47 Straight OU Know says:

Going good pink how are you?

        • paganpink says:

Good. Still getting over my rotator cuff surgery and my wife is sick so I guess I’ll watch the game on Fox Sports. Really cool that I even have that option! They do a pretty fair job of commentating it but the main thing is that you get to watch it even when you can’t get down to Norman.

          • metzker says:

            rotator?

          • paganpink says:

Yeah. You know there’s like 3 tendons running over the top of your upper armbone- the acromium I think it’s called- and attaching to the bones in your shoulder. The shoulders a complex joint because it has to go in every direction, unlike the rest of them in your body. If you tear them lose from the bone it’s real slow to heal because there’s so little bloodflow to tendons and ligaments.

          • metzker says:

            BIKE crash from past?

          • paganpink says:

No – that gave me a titanium knee, LOL! I jammed my arm into a wall snatching at my keys I started to drop right beside it and tore it pretty badly. Weird deal but it’s getting much better.

          • metzker says:

wow, sorry, shoulders are bad news.On that note titanium aluminum alloy, sorry had a T 2 moment.

          • paganpink says:

They work damn well although they don’t flow into a liquid and reassemble themselves or anything. It’s a high dollar piece of hardware. Modern medicine is awesome. They used to just fuse it all together and give you a peg leg! Which was better then it giving out on you all the time.

          • metzker says:

I agree, my shoulder was so bad it would pop out in my sleep, used to freak my x out. ID hop outta bed scream, push against the wall, relax back in place.

          • paganpink says:

            LETHAL WEAPON! LOL

          • metzker says:

I blew the front of my shoulder, missed a gear, missed the double.

          • Sooner Ray says:

I’m busy and may have to record it. Will watch one way or the other.

      • metzker says:

nice in Lubbock cloudy and 70 it might actually rain

        • paganpink says:

We were 73 and NO WIND after a couple of days of ridiculous 40-45 MPH air that makes it aggravating to even go outside! It is so beautiful outside right now. I always look at French Cafe’s and think “no way that’s happening around OKC!” It wouldn’t be little stuff like napkins on most days either- it would be your food and drink flying off the plate from some danged huge gust of wind, LOL!

    • OklaSooner says:

      Yep

    • Sooner Ray says:

Not really lurking, more getting things done and checking the page now and then…..so lurking I guess. 🙂

    • metzker says:

      Just signed in 47

    • kt-raida says:

      I’ve been fir a while

  • Zack says:

I would like to know the cons of having satellite camps. Seems like there can’t be very many valid arguments against them. I think the problem is that there’s only about 20-30 universities that have a profitable football program so more than 75% of the teams do not have the funds or the clout to host camps in Texas, California, Florida, etc. therefore they want a more level playing field in recruiting.

    • Sooner Ray says:

You about answered your own question, I think there have been a lot cries of unfair.

      • metzker says:

I know now why you cry!

      • Zack says:

It’s not going to make the small schools like Iowa state or Indiana any more competitive. The more kids uncovered by schools like OU and Michigan the more kids the small schools no longer have to dig for. OU and Michigan can’t offer every kid that attends their camps. It would be wise for the conferences to set up camps sort of like college/job fairs. Then they can host around 1000 kids and each one can be introduced to each program if interested.

        • metzker says:

          Job fair, that’s it!

        • RobWild says:

          That’s actually brilliant.

I don’t care about competitive balance, the bottom line is there are thousands of kids whose only real shot at college is ball and the majority of them can not afford to go to every camp. I could only afford to go to one a year when I was a kid and of course it was OUs

        • Sooner Ray says:

          Doesn’t sound bad to me.

      • Bob Edwards says:

It’s always going to be unfair. Some schools just have more money than others. They will find somewhere to spend it. Right now the NCAA makes sure as little as possible goes to the players and potential players. So where does the money go? Coaches salaries, more administrators, big expensive facilities. I would much rather that money go to the young people that are risking their health and to a small extent their life. Whether that is a stipend or camps where kids can get training and a chance to play somewhere or some other way I don’t care.

        • Sooner Ray says:

Me too. I view the NCAA about the same way I view the mofia, except the mofia accomplished things.

        • paganpink says:

I think they should be given 1500-2500 a month in a stipend. And crack down big time on the “bag men” in the SEC and elsewhere that give out money and jobs to relatives as well as players. Take that temptation away as much as possible. The NCAA takes in billions so they could afford it.

        • Hollerback says:

I wish more of the money stayed in the fans pockets.

    • paganpink says:

      Yep. Sour grapes.

  • metzker says:

If a BOOM comes tomorrow, whom might be that BOOM?

    • Sooner Ray says:

Would be nice if the next one was over 290 lb’s.

      • Bob Edwards says:

Yeah right now are average number of stars is great. Our average number of pounds is below 200.

        • metzker says:

Yep lets get Marvin, pretty sure we got the ot from img.Glad we are getting all these bad ass cbs cuz if we don’t have a push they can cover!

  • Matt says:

Finally rewatch ing the second half of the Orange Bowl. Defensively OU wasn’t that far off. Charles Tapper had a heck of a game. The defense just got worn down and it looked like the linebackers struggled much more than the D-line. Offense, the problems were obvious. Hopefully the line takes a big step up next year.

  • BleedCrimson says:

Sydney Romero gets OU softball on the board first with a long HR. 1-0 top of the 4th

  • metzker says:

Ok so yall tomorrow, I have to work so I hope im home in time for game —–

    • BleedCrimson says:

If you see a an old guy jumping around like a 20 year old, that could be me. lol

  • BleedCrimson says:

WooooHooooo 2 run HR by Erin Miller.

  • BleedCrimson says:

We need the Baseball team to get hot in the final 3 innings and bring home the win.

  • Dustin says:

Don’t forget Buddy getting the Wooden Award tonight. It’s on ESPN2 right now.

  • Dustin says:

Congratulations, Buddy Hield! 2016 John Wooden Award winner!!!

    • Stephen Dale says:

absolutely deserved the award. great pub for the Sooner program………..

  • Lane Gilstrap says:

Congrats Buddy and Thank you for all you’ve done.

  • SamSooner says:

    Buddy Buckets!!! Congratulations, Buddy!

  • BleedCrimson says:

Tori Nirschl hits a 2 run HR to stretch the lead to 5-0.

    • Sooner Ray says:

      It was beautiful!

    • Dustin says:

When she transferred in, I thought she would play a much larger role than she has.

    • Stephen Dale says:

honestly surprised the Baylor pitcher looked so ordinary tonight……Baylor looks shell shocked right now…..

      • BleedCrimson says:

You obviously have not been watching OU softball. OUr team is batting has an average of over .360, that is scary good hitting for such a young team.

        • Stephen Dale says:

actually I have seen several games….Baylor’s pitcher was not the commanding presence I figured she would be…3 Sooner HR’s tonight…..

      • BleedCrimson says:

Also, please note on your screen. Do not reply to BC! Do not reply to BC! Thank you.

  • BleedCrimson says:

I am curious what the voting was. I would be surprised to see if the vote was even close. I thought Buddy was a lock for a while. But, I am a bit of a homer that way.

    • BleedCrimson says:

Sweet Buddy Buckets!!! I do not watch much NBA, but I may beginning next year. I pray that he goes to a team that I can follow. Mavs, Spurs, or OKC would be most excellent!!!

    • Slim Sooner says:

BUDDY!! BUDDY!! BUDDY!! Proud to be a SOONER for life!

For those of you who can’t get the Spring Game on local TV:

    https://twitter.com/SoonerSportsTV/status/718816986357039108

    • Sooner Ray says:

Nice of them to offer it up free, Dustin may appreciate this if he’s still in a hotel.

    • Dustin says:

How much will they charge me after I forget to cancel next week?

      • Dustin says:

I see it in the fine print now. $9.99/mo

      • blaster1371 says:

It just rolls over and charges you for the next month. The site give you a heads up that the period yiu are paying for is about to end and asks what do you want to do. No answer, they charge you for the new month. I didn’t check the site in August as I bought the year subscription along with the one pay per view game the year before. The charged me for the next year right before the Akron game, which was legitimate on their part – nothing shady. I emailed them and they gave me an immediate refund no hassles at all. I the turned around and bought just the Akron game.

    • hOUligan says:

Happy happy joy joy… Fox Sports Central carrying the game….

  • blaster1371 says:

Watching the South Carolina spring game……… They are in for another longgggggggg season. Brown is one of the commentators. He has to be one of the most positive people I’ve ever heard talk. He is almost likable now that he no longer coaches the texass cows .

  • Oscar says:

I’m happy to read that Manyang was back with the team during the presentation at the game today.
