– Parker Boudreaux: As we warned you about last week, stud 2016 offensive lineman Parker Boudreaux committed to Notre Dame earlier this afternoon. And while the news will definitely be met with a certain amount of disappointment, there remains no doubt the OU offensive line is in good hands with Bill Bedenbaugh. We’ll reassess things now that Boudreaux is off the board, but you now may see the Sooners extend an offer to OK Preps product Rowdy Frederick. But again, we’ll work some sources to try and get a sense where OU will turn from here following today’s news. – (Super K)

– Tre Jackson: Earlier this week I had a chance to catch up with 2016 cornerback Tre Jackson (5’10” 178 – Baton Rouge, LA), who originally intended to visit Norman last month. However, he was not able to actually make that trip. Although he did visit and camp at the University of South Carolina, where picked up an offer from the Gamecocks.

Jackson’s father actually played wide receiver for Steve Spurrier when he was at Florida, so there is an obvious connection there. In speaking with Jackson, he did tell TFB that he still intends on visiting OU and hopes to do so this month, following the dead period. He did say, though, that South Carolina will be tough to beat. But there is little doubt if Jackson does indeed make it Norman, the OU staff will have a great opportunity to make a strong impression.

As a side note, I did ask Jackson if his father played for the Gators during that same time Bob Stoops was in Gainesville, but Jackson said he did not believe that was the case. – (Super K)

– Gary Overshown: Yesterday Oklahoma offered 2016 defensive end Gary Overshown (6’5″ 215 – Mesquite, TX), who is also a recent TCU commit. But shortly prior to his commitment, Overshown had actually camped with OU during their Dallas area satellite camp.

It’s also worth mentioning, for those who may not have already been aware, Overshown is teammates with recent OU commit and 2017 QB, Chris Robison. Alex tells me that Robison and Overshown actually visited OU together earlier this summer. We haven’t had a chance to catch up with Overshown just yet, but Alex should be in touch with him shortly to find out where things stand following this OU offer. – (Super K)

– Team Notes | Sterling Shepard Showing Leadership: I was talking to a friend recently who told me something that happened a week or two ago. As most of you know, OU and other teams do player led 7-on-7 each week during the offseason. Apparently one of the freshman at OU was having a rough day, dropping a lot of passes. I was told that Sterling Shepard and a couple other upper classmen went up to the freshman after practice and insisted that he stay after to catch some extra balls. But they didn’t just tell him to stay after and then go on about their way. They stayed after with him to get some extra work in.

Those are teammates. Those are the kind of guys you want around and within your program. – (Super K)

– Team Notes | Joe Mixon: You’ll probably recall that a rumor recently surfaced that Joe Mixon had suffered some type of an injury. You may also recall that I checked with my sources on the matter and, last weekend, reported Mixon had in fact suffered a high ankle sprain (here in the 6:16 pm update towards the bottom). Yesterday, Scout.com’s Bob Przybylo confirmed our report via SoonerSportsRadio.com.

I have since been told that Mixon had not yet returned participating in 7-on-7 workouts this past week. He is, however, walking around fine and the expectation is this won’t be something that lingers on too long.

I will also say that prior to this occurrence, I had been told Mixon and Dede Westbrook were essentially taking turns scoring touchdowns in 7-on-7. – (Super K)

– UPDATE (Fri., 1:53 pm): Couple of tough back-to-back days for OU on the recruiting trail. Yesterday is was missing out on Parker Boudreaux (even though we tried to prepare you for that one), and today it’s the commitment of 2016 DT Mike Williams to Stanford.

Williams was easily one of the top 2016 defensive line targets on OU’s board. Congrats to the young man on his commitment.
