– Bryce Youngquist: We know there hasn’t been a ton of things to get excited about as of late, but some potentially promising news is starting the percolate. We noted yesterday that Oklahoma is very much in the thick of things with 2016 OLB/DE Mark Jackson, who is hoping to make a decision soon. And while 2016 linebacker Bryce Youngquist (6’2″ 210 – Rancho Cucamonga, CA) isn’t necessarily planning to make his decision right away, he’s definitely giving the Sooners a serious look.
When OU first offered Youngquist, he told us that with that offer the Sooners immediately jumped into his Top 5 along with Oregon, Arizona State, Utah & Wash. State. I had a chance to catch up with him earlier this week to see if he had any summer plans solidified. Youngquist let me know that he and his parents will visit Illinois, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Tennessee and…yes…Oklahoma this summer.
One of the things that stands out to me about Youngquist is that he’s consistently spoken highly of Oklahoma and this planned summer visit should only further solidify their position with the talented linebacker. – (Super K)
– Breon Dixon & Chad Clay: If you weren’t already aware, OU has made multiple offers to prospects in Georgia this past week. Two of those players are 2017 LB Breon Dixon and 2016 CB Chad Clay, both out of Peachtree Ridge High School in Suwanee, Georgia.
Dixon and Clay are also teammates with talented 2017 DB, Deangelo Gibbs. And that’s important because Gibbs has family, an uncle, in Dallas and visits this part of the country on a fairly regular basis. In fact, Gibbs trains with Clay Mack when he’s in Dallas. All three players are also on 2017 DB Jeffrey Okudah’s (Grand Praire, Texas) 7-on-7 team.
Dixon and Clay both told TFB they are hoping to make it out this way, with Gibbs, later this summer. So while it may seem a tad odd that OU would make so many offers in a state they don’t normally recruit, it sounds like there is a good chance OU will at least have the opportunity to host these talented teammates. And, at the same time, potentially expand their relationship with Okudah as well.
Interestingly, when we asked Clay what he thought of Oklahoma he said, “I’ve always liked them as a football team growing up due to the history and tradition, but I’ve never really had the reality of getting a chance to play for them…now that I do, I have to look more into it.”
Gotta love seeing a young man who is so articulate and cognizant of tradition in a time when uniforms grabs headlines. – (Brandon & Super K)
– Jamyest Williams: Oklahoma also recently offered 2017 ATH Jamyest Williams (5’9″ 180 – Lawrenceville, GA). While Williams doesn’t go to Peachtree Ridge with the guys we were just talking about above, he does play on the same 7-on-7 team as Okudah, Dixon, Clay & Gibbs. So again, while it may seem random that OU has offered all these players out of Georgia, there is an obvious connection between the group.
Williams told TFB he is considering a visit to Norman with his teammates later this summer. – (Super K)
– Brendon Evers: A 2017 OK Preps player to keep an eye on is Bixby defensive tackle Brendon Evers (6’3″ 285). He’s still young and I expect him to continue to grow and develop, but as just a sophomore he’s already 6’2+ and 280 lbs +. For you film junkies or OK Preps fans, take a look at his film.
Again, be mindful of the fact Evers is still just a sophomore. The jump that young guys make while they’re high school is tremendous, and Evers already shows nice quickness and power as well as the ability to close, plus the flexibility to get skinny. – (Alex)
– UPDATE (Fri., 12:43 pm): Some of you may recall highly recruited DB Nick Harvey from the 2014 recruiting class who signed with Texas A&M. Harvey was recruited by schools like LSU, Notre Dame, Texas and, yes, Oklahoma.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-7mvKkzZqE
A source tells us that Harvey may be looking to transfer. In fact, we have been told Harvey was recently in Norman for a visit. A transfer has not happened yet and we could not confirm what other schools, if any, he is considering or whether it is even certain he will transfer at all. But the report of said visit certainly does add some intrigue to the situation.
– UPDATE (3:31 pm): Coach Boulware stopped by Arlington Martin to see 2016 LB Hunter Donnelly. Donnelly told me that he is expecting coach Kish to come by next week. Donnelly is someone to keep an eye on. OU has been recruiting him for a while now. If an offer happens it would certainly be well deserved. Donnelly is talented and don’t be surprised if his offer list grows significantly in the future. – (Alex)

We were blessed to have an OP this early in the morning. Lol thank you so much for my making my day off better!
Dude, you were first and didn’t call it? LOL!!
Dang it! Lol I was too happy to have the OP. Lol
I feel like things on the recruiting front are going to start heating up a lot. Its been slow, but I personally feel a lot of kids are looking at OU very seriously.
I also like that OU is getting in early with a lot of defensive players, especially LBs. Also nice that Coach Reynolds seems to be heating it up on the recruiting trail, after a slow start. Finally got settled and now making his connections.
Yeah, the new coaches have come in and been able to jump in and get the recruiting spun right back up. Generally you see a gigantic drop off that first season or two because they haven’t built a good enough rep or network but that doesn’t seem to be the case with these guys.
It really does seem like they’re in good position for some quality players. It’s been so slow it’s almost exciting when a kid just announces a top 5 or something of the sort.
You know it’s slow when that can be the highlight of a month. Lol
I think the biggest thing there is that they are offering kids earlier…where the last few years we were going, why aren’t they offering him? And why aren’t they pursuing him, etc, and it didn’t help that they used to offer a kid and communication would drop off it would sound like. With Stoops much more involved, I think the accountability is much greater than before.
True. There have been a ton of 2017 offers go out lately which should give them plenty of time to build relationships and hopefully keep the staff from reaching on players at the end of the cycle.
If they are offering more kids that is a good thing. I would rather go a little deeper in the pool and get the kid with maybe not quite as much talent but has a real desire to play for Oklahoma. A lot of time desire can make up for a little less talent.
Do you just have feeling or do you have some info bro.
I can neither confirm or deny this.
I’m glad OU is recruiting GA, that’s a state with a lot of players and UGA can’t get all of them. Grabbing a couple players there each year would be nice as well as a couple from Fla.
My imaginary recruiting numbers by state breakdown of annual players would be nice at 8-10 Texas, 3-4 Oklahoma, 3-4 California, 2-4 Florida, 2-3 Georgia, 2-3 Louisiana that is 20-28 players then find a few guys nationally(or internationally, thank you Neville Gallimore) to fill out any left available.
I was born and raised in Georgia. There is a lot of talent. So much talent, that Auburn, Alabama, FSU, Miami, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia and Georgia Tech aren’t competing for the same players.
Now, Lawrenceville is in the metro Atlanta area. That’s somewhere between downtown Atlanta, Georgia Tech, and Athens where UGA is located.
But the best place in Georgia to recruit is South Georgia. Those are some big ole, grain fed, fellas. That’s mostly rural living down there where agricultural work is still a huge occupation. This is labor intensive work and the fellas down there can handle themselves well with lifting and pulling. We call that “country strong.”
I agree…we’ve neglected GA far too long. I disagree on breakdown, though. I’d want 8-10 from OK, 4-6 Cali, 4-6 FL, 2-3 LA, 2-3 GA, the rest from around the country (TX, MD, D.C., TN, VA, etc). We still need the largest block of players per class from in state. OU has NEVER won a national championship without a majority of Oklahomans on the roster and in the starting lineup. Bob won it in 2000 with a ton of Okies on the roster and in the lineup. Then he started recruiting mostly Texans while largely ignoring in-state talent. We’ve played in 3 title games since that change and lost all 3.
BOOM!
I hate to be Debbie Downer but has there been any new developments on player suspensions?
I’m curious too.
Can OU even talk to a kid who is thinking about transferring?
update added
Curious, is he better than some of the people we have today and also why he’s leaving ATM.
Playing time, or a lack thereof, is the reason for looking around. As to whether he’s better, hard to say. But safety doesn’t appear to be a position, outside of Steven Parker, in which OU would appear to be able to use all the help they can get.
He showed as a corner when I looked him up. Is he a safety?
Also, is A&M’s secondary really better than ours. They gave up 40 ypg less, in a league that passes substantially less. And he can’t get PT in their defense? Is he really better than what we’ve got?
IMO, keep the scholly and recruit a HS kid, coach what we’ve got. JMHO.
I think he could play either for OU, fwiw.
Great Job TFB fulfill my daily “fix”. What is the latest on the Austin Quillen kid from Jenks?
He’s committed to Vandy I believe.
Darn it but thank you Cole!
update added
A lot of 2017 offers going out. None to any homegrown talent. Bummer. Kind of hoping that Draper would get the call from Bob.
Agree. Can’t say they neglect OK kids when they make an offer to a virtual unknown like Terry, but a lot of P5s looking at Draper so he must have the goods to draw their attention as a 2017 prospect.
Oh! Forgot about Terry! Duh! Louisville has offered Draper. Hope that and interest from other P5 schools raises his profile with the coaches in Norman.
Washington offered Draper today.
Hey, Jordan…you or any of the hardcore TFB recruiting geeks keeping track of #s? Such as total offers and by position group? If you guys added an accessible data base that would be great. If not, I will track them next cycle. Anyway… OU has made a ton of LB offers: Kelly, D. Jackson, M. Jackson, Jefferson, Youngquist, White, Donnelly….and more I’m forgetting at the moment. Nothing would make this guy more excited about OU football right now than getting a sonic BOOM from one or 2 of those high value LB targets.

Dear Bab Stoops,
Firstly, Boomer. Secondly:
Rocky Calmus – b. Tulsa, OK
Teddy Lehman – b. Tulsa, OK
Bill Goldberg – b. Tulsa, OK*
Have you seen Levi Draper’s film? The kid could chew the panel off a U-boat. The only reason I can think to not put him in a Sooners jersey is because you and the staff are afraid he’ll take your wives. This is understandable. But if not, the delay better be because you’re planning to offer him with a parade and a state holiday.
Do it. Or I will wag my finger at your image.
Kind Regards,
Okiedom
*Not a Sooner, but hey – he’s Bill Goldberg.
Curtis Lofton maybe?
Not a Tulsa kid, but yes!
how about Dom
Gah! That’s a good catch. Quick – write a follow-up letter!
Couldnt agree with you more. The kids a heat seeking missle

Nice write up TFB. Reading this makes me forget some of this bad weather we are getting. My yard is like a pond right now. You gotta love Oklahoma weather.
If you get tired of the rain, you can send some our way.
We have plenty to send to almost everybody. We have had almost 20 inches of rain this month so far. We have severe weather tomorrow also. This weekend is not a fun one. I’m kinda enjoying it.
I’d enjoy 20 inches as well.
That’s what she said
BoomerSooner, there you are. And you brought your humor with you. Welcome back!
See, I avoided that one like the plaque. 🙂
the plaque on my teeth or in my arteries 🙂
Yes, but mostly like the bubonic.
LOL!
You only live in Oklahoma if Oklahoma allows it.
True statement if there ever was one. Tigerquakenado season.
The invariable tornado exchange when traveling:
Stranger: “Where you from?”
Me: “Oklahoma.”
Stranger: “Oh, okay. You get tornadoes there, huh?”
Me: “Every year. It’s expected.”
Stranger: “Ever see one?”
Me: “One?”
I really want to say, “Let me put it this way, sir/ma’am: I’ve seen a tornado more times the past ten years than I’ve seen my gooch in a lifetime.”
I had been living in Wichita for less than a month in an old house near downtown.
It was May and sirens were going off. I didn’t know what the fuss was all about( we didn’t have those in East Texas or NW La back then) so I sat on the front porch steps and just watched and listened. A police car came by running code 3, saw me, slammed on the brakes, backed up and yelled for me to get to the storm cellar. Seventeen tornadoes had been spotted all around the city. I said “yessir,” and went to look for the storm cellar. I found it, pried the door open and it was stuffed with old furniture, so I went back to the front porch.
Not one of those twisters touched down.
I’ve lived in Oklahoma for 39.5 of my 41 years. The only tornado I’ve ever seen was the May 20, 2013 tornado because I had to flee from it! I’ve been near tornados multiple times in my life but it took until 39 before I actually saw one. One is plenty.
The one in 2013 destroyed our house and my wife and daughter were in the storm shelter in the garage as it was shreading it. This stuff happens and you just have to keep moving forward or you will just be stuck doing the what if this or that. It does bring back memories when certain things happen in the weather but it’s just part of living in Oklahoma.
Julian Wilson breaks leg, out for season. That sucks.
I’m not sure but it feels like our guys are cursed once they go pro lately.
Actually for quite a while. calm us and Lehman both plagued by injury, Dan Cody, Murray (until this year)
Dvoracek had a season ending surgery every year in the pros. You left off Bradford and a TFB guy too
Wasn’t Tommie Harris also injured once or twice for a good length of time?
Griffin, torn ACL. It’s Schmitty’s fault.
Wrong it’s Kish’s fault.
After reviewing more evidence, I concur. It was Tim’s fault. And add to that Tim didn’t even land a single LB for OU from 1895 to 2012. Is Stoops going to allow over 100 years of not producing before he fires Tim? I mean, like, you know, gahh!
The worst may have been Trent Smith, who I think would have excelled with the Ravens. Smart, tough, and a decent blocker… his ability to get open from both the traditional tight end spot and as a flexed TE would have made him a key cog in the Ravens O.
How did he break his leg? These are non contact drills, correct? I could understand acl injuries(#3 pick Dante Fowler) but broken leg is crazy. Anybody know what happened?
Hambone has been putting in the work with (to my knowledge) the first Sooner pump up video for 2015.
https://youtu.be/ZAyJX1PK-BY
Thanks for sharing. Sure do like the highlight/pump up videos. Course I’ll watch anything over and over that involves Sooners and a football.
Hambone does good work.
I like this pump up, shows the agony and the ecstasy of the past season with an eye toward the next one.
BS pass by Knight at the end. We let them jump out 14-0…and that freakin cb/s beaten by 15 yards for a TD? Where’s the topper of Knight’s pick six? Disgusting if you ask me.
Yea, all Knight’s fault. Team game but one guys at fault for a loss. That makes sense.
C’mon man. At least I mentioned the lousy D back coverage. Yes, just as at times, a FG kicker costs a game, so do QB’s.
You have railed on Trevor at every chance you get. I don’t know Trevor but I’m pulling for our best QB to win the job. My point is, not ONE person causes a loss. It’s a team game.
My son is a QB and the lesson’s I’ve learned have helped me with this position and how to deal with fans like you. I know you are passionate for OU football, now imagine Trevor is your son.
No one goes for the “what if that was your son” although Im one of the few who does. If Trevor is the best qb next fall then I’m all in with Trevor. If it’s close though I think they have to give baker the first shot next year or Cody/justice if they show they can run this offense
Thx, doesn’t have to be “your son”, could be a friend of your son/daughter or played at the same HS as you. You tend to ease up a little and not go for the jugular day after day.
Same here, I don’t just write off any kid unless he has obviously just quit.
That’s fair. May the best kid win. But there is a grading curve in the BS era…even Paul Thompson threw 60%. I’m only being a fan holding up the expectations of OU quarterbacking. I have not personally attacked Knight, only his play.
OK, then rail on LT for not blocking and getting Trevor hurt. Or, rail on a WR when he drops another ball which goes to the low % for Knight. Thompson had a different OC to help him through that year too. Trevor goes 14 – 35 for 309 and has 13 runs of 60+ yards. Not great at all but Perine had 25 carries for 87 so why not rail on the OL. Bottom line is you always when given a chance go for the QB. My point is, it’s a team game and there are factors for why someone may not be averaging 60% of his throws.
He has already written off Knight and Ahmad Thomas, nothing you can say will dissuade him.
I know and lose it at times. I’m done preaching. Back to my regular stations.
You ain’t lost nothing.
Stay excellent.
From what I’ve read on TFB, my opinion about Knight and A Thomas is the majority opinion. So there’s that.
Sounds like selective reading.
If you’ve spent any time on TFB since the Bowl game, you’d know that what I’m saying is accurate. Most OU fans have seen enough of Trevor. Thomas may be another question. We’ll see.
No, I haven’t seen that. There is a huge difference between people being critical of a player and just writing them off forever, like you have Knight and A. Thomas. You couldn’t bring yourself to praise Thomas’ excellent play intercepting Knight in the Spring game because of the fact that you have written him off, so you just ignore that and instead heap even more of your contempt for Knight.
You must be very insecure if you have to use the “most people/fans” to bolster your rigid position.
I didn’t ask.
Thanx Hambone. You too EastTex for posting. Awesome job! I never get tired of seeing Samaje blow up defenders or of Shep being wide open. Good stuff! Thanx.
We got some play makers to look forward to, just need to put it all together.
Copy that. Somehow I always believe we will. Over 60+ years I’ve been disappointed seems like a lot but happy a helluva lot more times.
Wow, that was really well done! Great find!
Julian Wilson broke his leg during minicamp, so unlucky man…
The Hulk has become a Monster! @amg_arthur: Went from 225 to 245 in less than 3 months without the use of protein or any other muscle mass… https://instagram.com/p/2d9ijFN_lV/
And he isn’t even full grown yet.
/dang
This kid could be the next Ronnel Lewis. I can see him being a defensive end more than I can a linebacker. He already seems to be a freak of nature in a Perine sense of that word. I look forward to him knocking the Bevo snot out of Texass ball carriers and making thier momma a cry.
Hope that is GOOD weight!
Nice catch, Steve. Law-zee, that young man must be eatin’ peanut butter samiches or something to gain 20#s since the end of the season. And agree w/ blaster below…likely headed to DE. @ 6’2 and yet to get in a top ST program, he could be a solid 260+ in a couple of years.
found this tramel comment interesting on the ooc sched of the favorites for the ’15 big 12-2……..
“If the Big 12 doesn’t want to play a championship game, it has to upgrade its non-conference schedules. And that message isn’t getting across. The three conference favorites in 2015 — Baylor, TCU and OSU — combined will play just one fellow major-conference foe. TCU plays Minnesota. Minnesota won’t help get the Big 12 into the Football Four.”
We have a bunch of pansies in our league. The “favorites” going into next year are the worst of them all. If they did go undefeated and don’t get in they will whine and moan saying that they did all they needed too. I’m sorry if I was on the committee I would not vote for one Big 12 team except the ones that play tough ooc games. i.e. OU, texass. The rest of the teams are a bunch of pussies.
the majority of Litte 12-2 schools schedule non conference schools according to the level of talent each conference school possesses ; unfortunately, the majority of Little 12-2 schools can’t schedule 3 Div 2 teams because that is truly the level of talent residing on several campuses in this league. OU –and to an extent Texas & WV–does schedule some legitimate D-1 opponents
K or Jordan or any Brainiac….. Please look into the Sooners checking out a stud RB/LB out of Alabama BJ Edmonds…. State champ 5A in Bama, same school as AJ McCarron (I coach him, I know, what’s a Sooner doing in Bama..) great power and motor, amazing competitor…. I would post his HUDL, but I’m an idiot… Someone get the word to a Sooner coach! Please! love to see him wear the Crimson and Cream!
There you go
http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1760952/highlights/215980375/v2
Thank you!!!
Actually watched his film awhile back, seems like they have quite the duo at RB down there.
BJ and Ostin are both great RBs! BJ is also a LB
So are the coaches checking him out or do you want the coaches to check him out….as his coach you should be able to get in contact with the coaches andor send film to them…that’s the quickest way to get noticed ..then of course attending the summer camp is another option
Add offer number 8 for 2017 Collinsville, OK LB Levi Draper : https://twitter.com/BrandonTFB/status/597106432194924545?s=09
That boys offer list will be too long to read by the time he’s a Senior.
That boy’s offer list will be too long to read by the time he gets a Sooner offer.
no kidding !!!! he won’t get the offer before he has committed elsewhere. OU likes to poach from other programs…………….
Just for today, as a Mother’s Day wish – would you please just stop posting negativity? Please? It would be such a blessing to hear happy things from you for a change. Can you take me up on the challenge?
Please?
whats so special about today other than it is a bonanza for the cardmakers and florists of America..Mothers are expected to work today just like the other 364 on the calendar……..
Don’t lump all mothers into the same category as yours having to walk down the basement stairs every few hours to wipe the drool off your face and feed you. The majority of us give our mothers, wives a true day off as they well deserve it.
You really are an internet troll, aren’t you? If my sons behaved this way reaching adulthood, I cannot fathom how disappointed in and ashamed of their behavior I’d be. Thank God they aren’t anything like this.
Okay, guys, you are right and I was wrong. He really is, isn’t he? I will never read anything of his again. I vow, he will never get another sympathetic thought or a second’s notice from me.
Yessum.
We(admin) notice your constant trolling. Just to let you know, you’re on thin ice. Keep it up and you’ll be banned man.
nobody has a sense of humor anymore….
You have no humor. You sound like a man who needs to be talked down from a ledge. Divorce, recently?
Ain’t happening.
Bless his heart.
You mean by the time he’s a Sooner 😉
I’m not saying he won’t be a Sooner, but Clemson,Stanford, Washington and Michigan are the leaders in the clubhouse right now. He grew up a Sooner fan, but OU’s lack of interest isn’t lost on him and his family.
Don’t make me thumbs down you …er Kish 😀
Interesting that Clemson. Stanford and Michigan have yet to offer him either, to the best of my knowledge. Is that not lost on him and his family as well?
They haven’t. Has the best relationships with those staffs. Clemson and Stanford will offer, as we have reported, earlier.
I’m beginning to wonder if OU administrators just don’t like Oklahomans . . . it’s not just FB recruiting . . . did anyone see the list of graduates from the engine’ college . . . I’m talking Petroleum Engineering . . . in-state kids should fill that program . . . let’s just say I don’t see any obviously Choctaw or Cherokee or even Czech names on that list . . . WTH is going on with this school that’s supposed to serve the people that support it . . . ?
Why do we have a lack of interest? I just do not understand why we would slow play a kid who will have offers from all over the country.
I don’t know. Maybe the OU staff is higher on other 2017 LB’s. They have offered 2017 LB’s so that just may be the case.
He will be a 30+er before his Sr year.
Wish it read OUFootball. Who is UW? Washington or Wisconsin?
Washington
Anyone alive here?
No
Let’s face unless we get a boom or a update nobody is going to show up on this site today.
Can we hold you to your promise?
Not a chance and miss all the fun eas tex also happy Mother’s Day to all those in your family
Eas tex and to all the ladies on this site.
Figures.
Look on the bright side at least you have somebody to talk to on this site or you could end up with only you and stephen dale now that would be bad eas tex.
….not bad, kinda funny
With you and your soul mate SD present, there is no bright or upside.
🙂 + well played!
Happy Mother’s Day to all Mother’s who come to this site. Also, to the community posters of TFB, enjoy the day and let your mom/wife/grandmother know how much you love them.
Call your MOMMA!!!
Don’t call my momma!
Ok, then. :-0
I’d give anything to be able to ‘call’ my momma. So if you can…DO IT!!
Me too.
Loved that sweet old girl.
So do we know the players that are in trouble yet? It’s been over a week now so I’m sure somebody has got to know something.
I don’t know, and please don’t blame the messenger because this is total rumor, but I heard as many and 10 and the problem was roids.
No idea if it is true.
Well the women’s team got hosed by the ncaa a 11 seed come on.hate go say it but ha ing to go to Alabama for the Super Regionals don’t think this team is going to make it to Oklahoma City.with pagie Parker only a freshman and no number 2 pitcher it’s going to be difficult to go to Alabama.no doubt the team got screwed by the ncaa another example of the bias towards the SEC and the hatred towards Oklahoma.
Whut?
How doesn’t a top 5 team get a top national seed ncaa eas tex that’s it out for this Oklahoma team they don’t want us to make it to Oklahoma City.

I completely agree they got screwed! However, bama isn’t quite as good as recent years and their regional isn’t exactly a walk in the park. USC upstate and Washington are both good teams. I’m hoping one of those teams will knock Bama off that way Ou can host the supers as well.
I agree my big concerns though is the pitching we aren’t has dominating as recent years.
