– Mark Jackson: Heard a bit of good news recently and wanted to pass it along. Caught up with 2016 DE/OLB Mark Jackson (6’3″ 215 – Cibolo, TX). It’s starting to sound as though Diron Reynolds has made quite the impression, and the Sooners are a very serious player for the Cibolo product. Jackson let me know he’s actually considering a commitment decision at the beginning of the summer, which is obviously just a few weeks away.

In addition to OU, it sounds like the other schools he is considering are Baylor, Texas, and Texas A&M. However, after talking with a couple sources I get the sense OU is very high on that short list. In fact one of the sources I spoke with told me the Sooners may be in Jackson’s top two schools at the moment. But again, Jackson has yet to make anything like that official.

I hope to speak to Mark again in the next few days and hopefully have more from him. Right now he’s definitely a prospect Sooner fans are going to want to keep their eye on. – (Super K)

– Devin White: OU extended an offer today to the 2016 athlete (6’0″ 253) out of Spring Hill, LA. We’re hoping to have more soon with regards to where the Sooners may stand now with offer in hand. – (Alex)

– UPDATE (2:17 pm):

UPDATE (5:40 pm): 2015 Notre Dame signee, Bo Wallace out of New Orleans tweeted out the following:

We found this interesting because OU was in hot pursuit of Wallace for a while. Wallace is academically qualified by NCAA standards but we’ve been told by a source that there was a particular requirement at Notre Dame that was the sticking point. I did ask the source if Oklahoma would be in the mix and he said that he did not believe so. He said he expects Wallace to end up at UCLA. I haven’t communicated with Wallace to confirm anything but just passing along info from a source that knows Wallace – (Super K)

    Second!!!

  • Sooner 4Ever says:

So, is OU looking at White as Samaje Perine 2.0? Or, at least physically, do they see him as the second coming of Ronnell Lewis? That’s the two players that came to mind while watching his video.

Initially when I thought of where they would play him, I dismissed offense because most Air Raid attacks look for smaller jitterbug backs. And, several of the offers we’ve seen for RB in the class of 17 have been those smaller backs. But, White looks to have great hands and really good vision (granted, it’s a highlight video; not like they’re going to show him passing up a hole to run head-on into the nose tackle or dropping passes).

    • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

I like him at LB. He can run (even jumped a tackler), has power, is relatively nasty, but lacks the “ideal” size.

      • Boom says:

Instinct comes in different packages. Doesn’t have to be 6’4. Lot of those guys around who can’t play.

      • SoonerMGB56 says:

I’m with Boom….lot’s of great football players who don’t/didn’t have the “measureables”. And from what I saw, this guy is a FOOTBALL PLAYER!

  • Soonerfandave84 says:

6′ 0″ is a bit short at LB/DE but I like his size, no one will mistake him as a FS playing LB

  • WYOSOONER says:

I really enjoy watching the tape you guys put up for recruits but this….dude…is..a.beast.
I had a smile on my face the whole time

  • Stephen says:

We’re offering White as a RB, not as a LB/DE, right?

  • Boom says:

    ILB Please. Lofton only bigger

  • Rick Stansel says:

He does have very good vision. What I was impressed with is his quickness, balance and wheels for such a big guy.

  • Jordan Esco says:

    update added

  • hushnpa says:

He looks like a cross between Samaje Perine and Trey Millard to me . And when was the last time anyone but a QB had a highlight reel anywhere near this long ? In fact , how many QB’s have a highlight video anywhere near this long ?

  • Brian says:

    That punt return though…

  • hushnpa says:

I can’t keep track of all these great kids and their film; its starting to all run together in my head ,, like ham salad .. in my head ,, now I’m getting hungry .. uh

  • Stephen says:

    Hitting Louisiana hard lately.

  • Stephen says:

    Also, this Everett Golson guy…

    • SoonerinLondon says:

Already proven he can win big games on Owen Field.

Man, I really, really hate that I said that. I’m sorry. I didn’t know I was going to say it. It just came out.

      • John Garner says:

Well, for the record, you didn’t “say” it. You “typed” it.

  • EasTex says:

It appears to me his high school coaches utilize White correctly.
    He never leaves the field.

    • Boom says:

      cornerstone on both sides.

    • soonerthunder says:

Sometimes coaches get it like that. I know a guy in HS 4A school who was on the kickoff, kick return, punt (snapper, but he was also backup punter), punt return, FG (the holder, but also the backup kicker), offense (QB/WR/TE), defense (DB/LB/DE). He told me, funny, one time, “When I’m pooped I walk off the field to rest a couple of plays.” He was so tired he didn’t tell the coaches why is was walking off, he just signaled–get someone in there and would go and sit down. He told me one time he was playing DE at/against Ardmore and he walked off. Exhausted. Ardmore ran the next two plays at his position for 7 yds and 8 yds. They told him they needed him back in and he played every other play of that game and at DE against a college bound OT. They beat Ardmore; he threw for 4 TDs and intercepted a pass at the end of the game when they were up 8 to seal the deal.

      • Defend Colfax says:

That’s the opposite of utilize correctly. Iron man football at its finest. Shout out to all the 160 lb lineman.

        • soonerthunder says:

Ha. I know what you are saying. I don’t know if you were talking about some 160 lber above or not, but the kid I’m talking about was 6’2, 215 and played JC then small college as a QB. His dad had taken him to a personal trainer from NFL since he was in elementary and could out lift most of the OL/DL linemen at JC. His 4A school had no bench to compete with 5A Ardmore. Very few guys on the bench, and only sophomores usually who could n/compete 5A very large school. They’d have lost w/o playing every available good player. But, if you are talking about White above, I bet you could call his HS coach and tell him he’s not utilizing him correctly. I don’t know.

      • Sooner Ray says:

I just thought that was a normal thing when I played. I was the Tailback, Corner, kick returner, punt returner, kickoff, FG, etc. Couldn’t even tell you what happens on a sideline.

        • BleedCrimson says:

The sideline is for half-time and time-outs. Played small school football myself. At 6ft flat, 140lbs, played QB, center, NG, DE. NG was my favorite, got to crash and burn with pure animalistic ferocity. SEE BALL, GET BALL

        • soonerthunder says:

I was the opposite. I just wanted to get on the field! I’ve known some like u and this kid. Some have played at schools like union and jenks, too. Woods from McAlester sounds like he did the same. Knew another kid played everything. Went to tcu and started on defense at tcu as true fr.tcu top 5 team too. kid I was referring to had OL at 4a school weighing 190. He weighed more than some OL.

          • Sooner Ray says:

LOL, My O linemen only outweighed me by about 10 to 20 pounds…..my body still hurts to this day.

          • soonerthunder says:

My cousin won played both ways until he got to HS. RB in HS. Won state 6A and were best team in state both JR/SR years. He’s in his early 50s and he walks like an old man. All football related.

          • Sooner Ray says:

            I know that walk. :-0

          • J J says:

Me too…. And mine is football related sort of…

        • J J says:

          Sideline….. Lol… What’s that?

      • EasTex says:

That’s the way it used to be done.

  • OceanDescender says:

Cool name on that new offer, I like it haha.

    • EasTex says:

Says the man that knows about splashing. 🙂

    • Jeremy Phillips says:

I miss Bob Barry, if only for his butchering of players names…

      • OceanDescender says:

Bob Barry was so entertaining for that reason. You could always see it coming, when he would start calling the play faster than he was processing what was actually happening. I was at his farewell game (tech in 2010) and the send off was great.

  • Defend Colfax says:

Devin White is a grown man. Hopefully we can stand out in his sea of offers.

  • Jordan Esco says:

Former highly sought after OU LB target….

  • Daryl says:

Not to Brag but i called it

  • Caleb Miller says:

Can’t see the Bo Wallace update, can anybody else?

  • Matt says:

Any word on Q Hayes signing as a free agent anywhere? I felt like his momentum was heading up into his senior year, was surprised he fell all the way to undrafted.

    • Jordan Esco says:

He agreed to a UDFA deal w/ Seattle.

      • Matt says:

oh great! Maybe I’m alone in this but I felt like he took some unnecessary heat for last year. Feel like he could be a decent safety somewhere

        • Jordan Esco says:

Actually, just found on Twitter he apparently is going to Cleveland, not Seattle, fwiw.

  • Jason Vos says:

Bo Wallace was recruited and committed to Kerry Cooks. Not buying UCLA as an option. I think he is OU or ASU bound

    • SamSooner says:

      Is Bo a 2015 recruit?

    • Lane Gilstrap says:

Do you think that he could be so disappointed that Coach Cooks left that he doesn’t even consider coming here because of him?

  • Jeff says:

Looks like LNC will get a make over

  • Sooner born, Sooner bred says:

Devin White…..This is in response to Crimson & Cream article. Alabama I understand, even though we’ve won the last three meetings. But LSU? The kids from Louisiana, I get it. As a Sooner fan I don’t understand the thinking in that we can’t recruit any athlete from anywhere. OU has an football tradition that is second to none, and as Sooners that’s what we should present, and represent all the time. Devin White looks awesome…….maybe we should look at Perine at linebacker. Just kidding, we’ve got some great looking linebackers already. If your going to be No.1, you’ve got to look, play and believe your the best. There is only ONE!

    • Sooner Ray says:

I’m with you on that lead in paragraph, just not sure the rest of that stuff was needed. 🙂

      • Sooner born, Sooner bred says:

Yeah, I know….too many monsters today. I’m liable to get a little wound up ” carried away “. Just too passionate about OU football sometimes. I’m chillin now. Boomer!

      • Sooner born, Sooner bred says:

Just think of me as defensive Coach Wally Rig in Necessary Roughness. He takes over for head Coach Ed Gennero who’s in the hospital…….half time speech he gets a little wound up and starts cursing and saying how they are gonna rip their heads off and shi* down their wind pipes and then says….”let’s pray”. Classic football movie.

  • Lane Gilstrap says:

Would we really need Bo Wallace if we landed Caleb Kelly, Mark Jackson, Jon-Michael Terry, Marvin Terry, and Dontavious Jackson? Or at least 4 of those guys? I don’t think so.

    • kokevo says:

We might land 3 of these guys and that’s including terry. So yes we want and need him.

  • #1¢WW2 says:

Just imagine what a good coach could do with the amount of talent that is so enamored with UCLA which I don’t get. I do know one NCAA record that UCLA holds and that is punt returns given up for TD in one game.

    • SavageSoonerEsq says:

I was there! I accidentally broke a new front-bumper OU plate and a new pair of sunglasses when he ran the 3rd one back.
