Super K’s Recruiting Summary

We’ve been dropping recruiting information on y’all in various posts so we figured it would make things easier for readers if we periodically did a recruiting summary to bring some of it together in one convenient place. These are some thoughts on Oklahoma’s chances at some of their targets based on the most recent information we’ve acquired from our sources:

Ainuu Taua – this one is a long shot. No confidence OU lands him. I know OU wants him at the NG position and quite frankly I don’t see it. We’re hearing OU hasn’t decided if they’re going to take another DL in this class. They feel good about what the guys committed and about the young guys they have on campus. But we’ve also heard they’ve got a player or two they are intrigued by so we’ll wait and see.

Dwight Williams and Adoree Jackson – I put these two together because I’ve been told by someone who knows them well that there is a good chance Dwight ends up where Adoree goes and Oklahoma isn’t going to get either of them.

Miciah Quick – Feel very good about Oklahoma’s chances here. Based on what I’ve heard I’d be very surprised if he ended up somewhere else.

New CB offer out of Miami, Cornelius Floyd – unsure about this one. I believe Coach BJW will be down in Miami in the next week or two to visit him. I hear OU LOVES this kid. They recently came across him and they really want him.

Trai Mosley – this is a tough one because if Coach Pelini stays and the status quo remains then OU is not going to flip Trai. But if Coach Pellini leaves then it definitely opens the door. From what I gather OU is only taking two more CBs and a safety but I’m not sure how Quick fits into those numbers because he’s definitely a Coach Norvell guy right now.

Kenyon Frison – Coach Montgomery is recruiting Kenyon and I’d say it’s about 50/50 right now. From what we gather OU feels good about where they stand with Frison but it’s still too early, in my opinion, to say one way or another. But OU is definitely in the mix here.

Joe Mixon – No one I talk to gives me any confidence whatsoever that Oklahoma is in this one. Not sure if Oklahoma knows that but people who know Joe don’t seem to think OU has a chance.

Jordan Sims – the fact that Jordan is interested Oklahoma was a surprise to folks because he always felt like a kid who was going to stay in the SEC. I know he loves Alabama and at one time it seems he had an offer but their OL class is full. Bama did lose a lineman to USC this past week. If Bama wants Sims then OU has no chance. If Bama is indeed done, and I’ve heard they are, then Jordan probably would have ended up at a nearby SEC school like Ole Miss. If it comes down to Oklahoma and Ole Miss (which I believe is where a lot of folks figured he’d end up) then it’s still tough. But again, the Orso commitment definitely gave Oklahoma an opening here where there was absolutely none. Not that it necessarily means much but he retweeted our post about from the other day about him really considering OU now 🙂

Sebastian Tretola – JY did a write up on him last week before his visit and based on his tape assumed he’d be a guard instead of a tackle. It appears that has been confirmed. We don’t know Sebastian well enough to comment too much here. You’ve got to wonder if him seeing that neither of the JUCO guards have really contributed much if at all (Feo and Savage) will scare him away.

Trey Carter – We’re a little limited in what we can say here. We will simply say that while Coach Montgomery loves Trey as an athlete and a ball player there are other issues that have to be dealt with before there is any chance that Oklahoma and Trey workout. This one is looking more and more unlikely.

Dwayne Orso – As y’all know OU received a commitment from Howewood, Alabama native, Dwayne Orso. Coach’s are really happy with this one. Something a lot of folks don’t know is that Dwayne did not have an official offer when he visited. Coach Montgomery had visited him in Alabama and was very impressed but we believe the offer didn’t happen right then because Coach Stoops wanted to see him up close. And obviously Dwayne did not disappoint and the offer and commitment were promptly made. Dwayne has incredible size.

Jovan Pruitt – Oklahoma definitely has a chance here. The biggest selling point Arkansas has with Jovan right now is that they can legitimately offer him a shot to start as a true freshman. If it weren’t for that I’d give this one to Oklahoma all the way. But I know being able to play right away is a big draw for Jovan so we’re still waiting on this one.

Steven Parker – I feel very good about where Oklahoma is with Parker right now. We will let you know if anything changes but right now I just don’t see a legitimate threat to OU. If, for some reason, Parker didn’t end up at OU I’d be surprised but also intrigued because a safety prospect from down in SEC territory that I’ve liked for a many months might be next on the board. But we’ll cross that bridge if we get there. And I don’t think we will.

Devante Bond – big time commitment. You’ll recall that we let y’all know a week before the commitment happened that Oklahoma was going to get the commitment. *bows*

Isaac Ijalana – OU received a commitment from TE Isaac Ijalana. We don’t have much information on Isaac. Our general sense is Isaac can potentially come in and help out at that position. We don’t feel he has the ceiling of a guy like Carson Meier but he’s a pretty good prospect that certainly fills a need. We’re interested in getting a look at him in offseason practice and we hope to report back to y’all.

Jonathan Thomas – If it were not for Jonathan’s grade issues this one might have already been a done deal. It’s too bad because he’s an incredible athlete. He’s also a smart kid who just wasn’t taking care of business early on in HS. We’ve been told that he’s done much better in school as of late and it will come down to what his grades look like at semester.

ADDED: Greg Miclisse – Forgot to mention something we noted earlier this week. We are pretty sure Greg Miclisse does not have a committable offer, if he has one at all.

Have a great day y’all!

Thanks for the full recap! Fahn Cooper, IMR, and Denzel Ward are guys I’d love to hear a little more about when you get the chance!

    • Super K says:

No problem bud! And we will ask around on the three you mentioned. Last time we checked fahn was down to ttech and ou.

      • Nathan Brenneman says:

hopefully with tech falling on its face the last few weeks has helped us, seems like good timing for our part…now to NOT fall on our faces!

        • Super K says:

          Lol indeed 🙂

Thanks for the information. Question, do you really think we take Starks? Mike

          • Super K says:

Right I’m not sure where OU thinks they stand with Mixon. They might feel confident but we feel pretty strongly that it isn’t going to happen. We have a pretty solid link to mixon. So I don’t know where all that leaves things with Starks

    Super K

Once again, great report. Have you any updates on Hayes? I really want that burner.

    • Super K says:

Good question. He told us he loved the trip last week; it was in a note earlier this week and I probably should have added it here. We’ll see how things go after his ASU trip this weekend.

  • Cary Newman says:

If I were OU, I tell Hayes you’re our final take at tailback and go to the house.

    • Super K says:

I think they want him and another hs rb. On a somewhat related note I’m very curious to see if Ross gets many touches Saturday

      • Billy Jackson says:

Yeah, if Mixon is truly out, then look for a full court press for Starks, even if Hayes commits.

      • Cary Newman says:

        Super K
I believe that’s been OU’s plan all along, taking four backs (I’m including Flowers), but it really makes me wonder just how confident they are with what they now have in Ford, Ross and Smith. I’m with you, I want to see Ross and even Smith with touches on Saturday.

        • Super K says:

Flowers is a very intriguing prospect. A true hybrid player. I did wrote a post about him a few weeks back but never put it up. He’s very rare in that he actually looks like a wr when lined up as a wr and looks like an rb when lined up as an rb. And he has size. If he can block he’s very intriguing

      • bmrsnr says:

You’d think he’d get around 3-5 with only Finch and Clay available.

        • Super K says:

shoot I stopped trying to guess what the offensive staff would do/call a while back 🙂

          • bmrsnr says:

Lol, I hear ya, but there does seem to be consistency in play calling when Knight is in as opposed to Bell.

  • CS says:

Sorry, I didn’t read the posts on these guys, Dwight Williams, Adoree Jackson and Ainuu Taua, what are their respective positions on the field?

Also, wasn’t Trey Carter the kid you guys raved about? Long shot, sigh!!!

  • Billy Jackson says:

By the way, have you heard of Mixon’s new favorite?

  • Travis Tyra says:

Do y’all believe there is anyway OU offers Evitt or Warren at running back? I love the speed they bring especially Evitt but grades could be a concern.

    • Super K says:

Really like Warren and my guess right now is once he gets his ACT/SAT taken care of OU will get involved.

      • CoachStauder says:

He should have gotten his ACT scores back last week. No movement there to me is telling…

  • bjwalker82 says:

Too bad about Carter and Mixon. Had really hoped to get one or both of those guys.

  • Travis Coyle says:

That’s to bad on Mixon. I like he size, speed, and cuts. Bond is a huge get.
Heard anything on Nathan Starks? I figure he might be off the grid since being suspended from BG.

  • CoachStauder says:

    Natrell Curtis?

    • Super K says:

Checked with a couple folks today and they didn’t have anything to report. But hopefully something from another source. If so, I’ll be sure to pass it along.
