Steven Parker In-Home Visit Notes

As we told y’all yesterday Coach Mike and Coach Bob had an in-home visit with Steven Parker last night. And I can tell you it went REALLY REALLY well. The family was very happy with the visit. The family absolutely raved about it. We’ve been saying all along that he’s Oklahoma’s to lose. I know there have been rumors that his father may have been dissuading him from committing to Oklahoma but those rumors are, and always were, unfounded and untrue. It sounds like everything is looking really great and the parents are completely on board with OU.

We are starting to get the feeling that a commitment could come soon. Not certain but it wouldn’t surprise us to see one happen in the next 2-3 weeks. Not ready to tell y’all to take it to the bank yet…but it’s getting there.

Thanks for the update and good news indeed!

He is a special kid and regardless of the situation, no one can say the coaches are not putting in the effort. I have taken special liking to all the in-state kids and we have had very, very good success with those we have reeled in. Extremely pleased with the likes of Irwin, Colvin and all the other local seniors in this team… here’s to hoping we keep it up!

Agree. Love the in-state kids. And they tend to be good at the next level more often than not.

I had this conversation last year with Little Joe. You need to lock down your borders as OK kids just seem to play harder and with a chip on their shoulders. We have a few OK kids who will help us next year too. Keeping the pipeline going strong is very very important. Getting Parker is MOST important for he’s going to be a great DB under Mike and he’s instate. Just so important on so many fronts. All my Jenks friends feel he’s going to be their teammate at OU too.

Don’t forget in state Ikard…He’s having a heck of a year…not bad for a 3 star tight end converted to center

I did not pick those two specifically, just an example of local guys that have done really, really well having been unheralded when they came in. I had forgotten that Gabe was a local (Bishop McGuinness) though, so thanks for the reminder. He’s an excellent center… definitely a sleeper 1st round pick IMO.

Are there any other impending commitments coming down the pike anytime soon?

Someone posted on OUInsider that one aggie board has pretty much conceded Parker to OU but aren’t giving up all hope till their in home visit which is up coming soon.

TAMU is recruiter Parker to mess with OU as much as anything else. But we’ve felt confident for a while that OU will get him. They’ve just got to wait it out and the time is getting close.
