Tennessee isn’t bringing their band this weekend, so no constant playing of ‘Rocky Top.’ Just sweet, sweet ‘Boomer Sooner.’

Sorry for the Texas overload today, but this was too good not to share. So refeshing to read a Texas fan that isn’t just chugging the Kool-Aid. Though if you’ve ever read Scip, you know he’s never been that guy. Easily the best guy out there writing about the Horns, IMO. (Barking Carnival)

Really long read (fair warning), but being a KC resident and having grown up in the Midwest not near any oceans, this story on water parks sucked me right in. (Grantland)
Am I alone in never having heard of a slugburger?
Love Bill Hader.

Wolf is young but he’s going to be a really good TE for Tennessee down the road. Already looks good as a true freshman.
I agree. Looks like OU will not take a te for 2015. Have read articles and comments about our QB (Knight) not being Mr. Everything. Look at Texas for a real problem. Thanks for the early morning articles,Jordan.
How does he compare to Jace Amaro? I think OU managed him quite well last season…should we be worried about Wolf?
The breakdown of Texas suckage in the Barking Carnival article was a great way to start the day off right!
I would have suspected possum playing….but I watched them and they are godawful. It is possible (Kansas, as always, is a security blanket; but if ever there was a year for Weis to pull out some magic…) that they will lose out this season.
We should at least pipe in Rocky Top for when they get that cheap TD late in the third quarter.
OU is going to uncap some moonshine on “Rocky Top Tennnessee” and send them Vols back to their home sweet home-empty handed.
Rocky Top is the only song I have ever done karaoke….true story…
Ok, you can sing it at the game, but just this one time.
Sorry babe. That won’t happen. I did it once. When Peyton beat Dpurrier at the swamp. OU got their asses kicked earlier & we deviated toward the TVs lol.
In spite of the hazing the song gets due to extreme over exposure in some quarters, it’s a great song, written by a couple of the greats–Boudleaux Bryant and his wife, who also wrote “Love Hurts” and numerous Everly Brothers hits. So you get some points for song selection. On the other hand, about doing karaoke in the first place…
LOL!
I also giggle & enjoy it when it comes on at work. Patients love it..
Do you Karaoke in the Tulsa area? I have so much fun with Karaoke.
I don’t live in Tulsa…. Nor am I good singer
How does Willie Martinez keep getting good gigs? He seems to be the Lane Kiffin of assistant coaches.
No kidding. I just lost a degree of curiosity about the Tennessee defense when I heard this news. His players will be confused and tentative. Remember that clip from the ESPN series on OUs fall camp in 2011? Martinez was explaining coverage when presented certain formations and Tony Jefferson and I believe Fleming are totally confused by his explanation.
Norvel was on the staff then too, wasn’t he? So he knows how he thinks, and how confused their DBs will be. That’s another huge advantage that we really didn’t need, but I’ll take it!
Stoops to the NFL…. Why? I know the nfl job is all about football and not the other stuff that is exclusive to college and recruiting. He gets paid big bucks already, gets some of the best players in the nation, has a state and university that “love” him, has some of the best facilities and staff a coach could hope for…… And the NFL offers….? The ESPN article on Jim Mora says a lot about coaching in the upper tiers of CFB. I personally don’t like the NFL one bit. It has a slime about it that puts me off. Not saying free agency ruined the NFL but that is when the team hopping began and I lost interest. Remember the days of the Steel Curtain, Doomsday Defense, Purple People Eaters, the Hogs?
I’m with you, blaster. I haven’t watched an NFL game in probably 20 years. In fact, I gave up on professional baseball, basketball and hockey too. Love the college sports.
I just recently got back into fantasy football…this is the only reason I am interested in the NFL this early in the season. I usually get more interested after the usual October loss by our beloved Sooners, but I’m guessing that’s not going to happen this season.
That Hader/Kasem bit was hilarious!
Love Bill Hader! Good to see an Okie in the big times!
Love the game in Houston! Have you guys seen this?
That OU video is just epic. Those are the kind of things you can watch over and over and it’s like the first time.
Agree! Loved it both times that I watched it.
Honestly, while these guys keep seeing Stoops leaving for the NFL, I’m finding it harder and harder to believe. Not impossible by any means, but Stoops just doesn’t seem like a guy who wants to go anywhere else. I guess I’m not really sure what to think; these guys keep sounding so confident like it’s going to happen, and I just keep not seeing any indication of it at all. Weird.
He’s slowly approaching the age when you don’t want to start over or rebuild especially with what happened to his dad
I am sorry but I am just not sold on Baylor. Yeah, I know I am an odd man out. Let me put it this way…I am not on Baylor when it counts. Yes, they beat OU last year. But the one time when they are on the big stage and make it to a BCS game, they get rolled by UCF. Furthering the case for the Big 12 being a weak conference. (Thankfully Stoops did some redemption in the eyes of college football)
And here we have Baylor once again going through a sorry excuse for a OCC schedule then into familiar territory with conference scheduling. So really the next time we see Baylor with even a remote chance of playing out of the box or something out of their comfort zone will be their bowl game.
Their OOC scheduling has always been a joke. I’ve seen it said that they have tried but don’t get positive responses from other schools. That’s a joke – if OU can continue to get big time OOC matchups year after year, then I’m sure folks aren’t exactly running away from Baylor. If they want to be considered a top-flight program, they better start scheduling like one.
Petty has significant issues right now. It will be interesting to see this shake out, how they use him & push him…
I’m pretty sure Norman will be outside their comfort zone.
A recruiters dream come true this coming weekend in Shreveport.
Battle of the Border
They can watch fourteen teams from Ala. Ark. La. and Texas, in the span of three days.
Stoops “flirted with Cleveland,” sorta like Kate Upton flirted with some guys on TFB…
Don’t get it twisted, she and I had something special.
I did not actually see the unedited footage, but a source told me that she may have said, “this is for you, Jordan” just before the ice bucket pour…
You should see the pics I have on my phone 😉
Between her and Ms. Kapowski, I’m willing to pay for the viewing of those pics…
Are you guys coming with a final update on all the recruiting visitors?
