You know what sucks? Waking up at 4 am WIDE AWAKE, and having to WAIT for Sooner News Daily.

I’ll be rooting for Josh Shaw this season…that’s for sure!

      Amen.

It’s funny. I told my wife about Shaw’s “awesome” story. She just looked at me and said – “He’s lying, Do you believe that? He hurt himself in some other way and is covering it up.” A day later…the truth comes out.

It sure seems like Cowlishaw hasn’t taken a look at OU’s out of conference foes over the next decade.

    • Coach_AElliott says:

It’s not like Tennessee is a powerhouse in the SEC right now, but to compare OU and Baylor’s OOC isn’t right.

    • paganpink says:

We scheduled Tennessee in 2005. They were 10-3 in 2004, ranked #13, and lost in the SEC championship game to Auburn 38-28 who went on to play in the National Championship. They then beat Texas A&M in the Cotton bowl. We were scheduling a team one game away from playing in the NC, which he dismisses in this article as “Tennessee hasn’t played for the NC in 16 years” Wait a minute! He isn’t using playing in the NC as the basis for his predictions ranking the Big 12 on strength of schedule- he is basing it on where opponents are rated, preseason, and an extra point if your opponent played in a bowl last year. Tennessee replaced not only their head coach but EVERY Coach last year so they were struggling, but these schedules are done almost a decade ahead and Cowlishaw knows it! What a doofus.

I couldn’t even read the entire thing, when he mentioned texass having a tough non con, I tapped out. The last 10 years they have had the softest non con of anyone in the big12.

    • Eric Hoffpauir says:

Looks like he had a conclusion, then set about finding the “evidence” to support it. Is Texas’ schedule stronger than OU’s this season? Marginally at best, but a lot closer in strength to OU than OU’s to Baylor’s.

Just read the Pat Forde article and predicitons on the upcoming season. Somehow he thinks Ames is a “tough place to play”. He also implies OU is going to lose on the road to either Iowa St or West Virginia and be left out of the playoff.

Very inspiring story about Shaw. Always great to see a young man with such clear character and conviction. No hesitation whatsoever….wow.

Baylor’s ppg goes sky high because of the non con cream puffs that they schedule to come in and be sacrificial lambs!!

    Awesome story about Shaw!

  • Jeremy Phillips says:

The Shaw story may be bunk… USC is investigating after getting conflicting reports from other sources..

  • SoonerSpock says:

In defense of Cowlinshaw he noted that Texas’ strength of schedule is somewhat a matter of luck. However UCLA and BYU are annually respectable football schools. Likewise, OU was somewhat unlucky regarding SOS. Tennessee is a traditional power but have been down for a decade. Furthermore Tulsa has been a respectable football program for the last 10 years until 2013. In 2014 both project to be mediocre at best.

SOS is not determined by who you have played the last ten years or the upcoming ten years. It is based upon who you are playing this year. Not good for OU’s strength of schedule but excellent for the opportunity to 12-0.

Cowlishaw’s target market is the University of Texas, aTm, the B12 and SMU. His article was germane for his targeted market just not apropos to OU fans reading through crimson colored glasses.
