FOOTBALL

And here I thought yesterday’s Alabama article had some butthurt. But this one blows that completely out of the water. (Fox Sports)

I assume there is an explanation, but was certainly disappointing to see this news yesterday on Lane Johnson. (USA Today)

I find it kind of funny how much attention they pay to what the OU staff is saying/doing. I also think the Big 12 gets no respect, it’s not as good as it was a few years ago, but it wasn’t too long ago that the SEC was considered the 3rd best conference by many with the Big 12 sitting on top. College football is cyclic and the Big 12 is on the upswing as a whole.

    • Rees Bear says:

I wouldn’t be surprised if they eventually break it down to Saban making more money per inch of height than any other College Football coach in the country.

    • leatherneck1061 says:

Agreed. The average SEC fan today seems to think the SEC has ALWAYS been the top league in the country. This last season with the top 2 SEC teams losing was reminiscent of previous years like when 1995 Nebraska took top-ranked Florida and spanked em to the tune of 62-24….ditto against Tennessee 2 years later 42-17. And eventually some bright SEC fan might just realize Alabama has a serious OU problem, or at least a Bob Stoops problem anyway….that makes 0-3 Tide fans….just saying.

      • shawn says:

That’s because the average SEC fan is just that, a fan of the SEC, not of a certain school. Unless they’re in the NC game then they are suddenly that schools biggest fan but can’t name a single player and just recite what they heard on ESPN.

  • Tom says:

I can’t believe that article was posted on what is supposed to be a major network website. Did they rip that off Nick Saban’s personal blog?

  • Sooner Ray says:

These player and pump up videos are going to come in handy during this two week dead period. 2 months now baby!

  • SoonerPhins says:

    Butthurt? Why not Zoidberg!

  • lovethemsooners says:

Josh Parcell = Proof it takes absolutely zero talent and objectivity to be a sportswriter today. That read more like a message board post than a professionally written article.

    • Eric Hoffpauir says:

Yeah, to be fair, it’s a writer associated with Clay Travis on Outkick the Coverage, who is an SEC-centric blogger who moved his blog to Fox Sports a while back. Travis is a million times worse than this guy.

    • Rees Bear says:

The off-season gives folks a lot of time to relive the past and in doing so, they tend to “justify” things by citing things other than what the scoreboard documented.

  • Big Higg says:

Wow. Josh Parcell needs to slide on over to espn with that kind of writing.

  • Rees Bear says:

I’m gonna miss Brennan Clay. Dude had a huge heart and came up BIG for us when we needed him to one more than one occasion. Best of luck in Denver.

    • EasTex says:

      Me too.
I checked his career stats a little while back, he never fumbled in four years.
Clay was a rock, he was the starter in the ’11 season and then Whaley burst on the scene. Whaley goes down and Clay is still there. Clay started the 2012 season and then Williams burst on the scene. Clay was always there contributing no matter who came along to take carries away and he was steady all the way to the end. I don’t care how many stars he had behind his name, he was diamond crusted to me.

      • soonermusic says:

I absolutely second that sentiment. And don’t forget that Clay spent most of his college career fighting thru and playing thru debilitating injuries. Assignment sound, ball security sound, and when we needed it most, on returns or plays from scrimmage: Mr. Clutch.

    • DCinAZ says:

I think you’ll be seeing him play in Denver this season. He’s impressing in his camps and they think he’s a “stud out in space!”

  • Jared William Reininger says:

I am betting that writer could check Sabans tonsils as far up his ass as he is. Saban is a great coach and I respect that, but so is Bob Stoops. Bob is not making anywhere near what Saban is anyways. 5.25 compared to 7.6 million or something. So get off that horse buddy. That was a more biased article than Fox News could ever hope of writing.

  • DCinAZ says:

    LOL!!

“Oh…what’s that, coach? YOU WANT TO POKE THE BEAR?!”

We’ll poke that bear all day long and that bear can’t do anything about it.

  • leatherneck1061 says:

Good Lord….the fox sports guy wants to talk about people being obsessed? Who’s the clown with nothing better to do than wait for the next tweet from the RUNNING BACKS coach? And seriously, how long can these Saban sycophants continue to lick his ass without feeling at least somewhat embarrassed? Dignity, people. Get some.

  • soonermusic says:

“Poke the bear…?” Sounded more like poke the whiny donkey (to use the polite form) to me…

  • I like Boomer Sooner says:

On the Brennan Clay video: That has to be the most unenthused announcing I have ever heard for a 60+ yard TD run in an evenly scored top 25 match up. I hope we stay with Gus Johnson (He did the TTU game IIRC) for all of our FS1 games.
