Character is what you do when no one is watching.
Holding is what you do when everyone is watching, but not watching you.

Oklahoma Finalists
Baker Mayfield: Maxwell Trophy (Nation’s Top Player)
Baker Mayfield: Davey O’Brien Award (Nation’s Top QB)
Orlando Brown: Outland Trophy (Best Interior Lineman)
Connor McGinnis: Mortell Award (Best Holder)
This speaks well to the quality on the field that the Sooners can boast.
While several National Awards are difficult to quantify, some can be viewed under comparisons. The John Mackey Award, which Mark Andrews is up for, is one of those. Below is a comparison of the three finalists.
Tops in a category are highlighted
As shown, Andrews is doing some special things this year. That YPC number is insane, and he’s gone for over 300 more yards than the other two on the season.
Another easy one to draw comparisons for is the Davey O’Brien Award. Below is a comparison of the three finalists for that Trophy.
While Rudolph has slightly more yards, Mayfield is absolutely destroying the other two in efficiency stats. Completion percent? Check. YPC? Check. YPA? Check. TD:INT ratio? Check. And the passer rating… that’s not even close.
Needless to say, this is a special Sooners team with a lot of talent.
