referring to his song, “the boss.” as in, it pays the cost, to be the boss. I view him as a “boss.” lol but yes, definitely the “hardest working man in show business.”
I’m on Cox. Fox Sports 1 is a digital channel for set top boxes. If you are a Pay TV subscriber and and this channel is accessible at your home, just log into your cable account and you can stream the game.
Noticed that also. But Baylor exposes bad secondaries. And while I’m not saying OU plays “bad” defense, that #105 ranking is concerning heading into the game against a passing attack as prolific as Baylor’s
Oh, I agree. I’ve just seen too much of that stat thrown around on other boards without any context. It doesn’t reflect that we’ve forced other teams to play catch up through the air with big leads, which is one big reason Miss St has such bad passing defense statistics.
Still, just having a decent pass defense (which includes pass rush) isn’t going to cut it against Baylor.
Boomer! I’m most concerned about the surprise. What wrinkle will Baylor bring on O & how will OU adjust? I could see them throwing in some option w/Petty or something to that effect.
I think the good guys bring this home though. OU 38-24. I think we’ll have great success running the ball. Hoping for sustained drives from our O, not big plays early, give D plenty of rest.
Our KO returns have been great, but also think they’ve worked against us in losses & UT in that it put D right back out on field. Double edge sword for our D.
Enjoy the game folks. I am really starting to hate winter baseball here in California. If it isn’t a game it’s a practice…..at 9am here, 11am in Norman. Well at least I can use the DVR, but it isn’t the same. Hopefully the guys come out and punch Baylor in the mouth and never let up. BOOMER!!
Maybe I’ll have to eat my words after the game, but my sense is that OU may very well be much better on both sides of the ball that most folks are giving them credit for. If OU takes care of their own business, eliminates mistakes like forgetting that they went over a specific play on Thurs. and need to handle it the same way in the game, and takes care of the ball, it may not matter what Baylor does. Here’s hoping’…. Go Sooners!
Truthfully, I like to think you are right. But I think Julian Wilson may be a liability today. He never presses coverage because of his lack of speed. I am worried that Mike S will play more 8 man coverage as opposed to attacking Petty.
I like the look the new uniforms have. The reason I do like the helmet stripe is it is actually crimson, where the jersey looks like a Nebbish leftover.
And the helmet stripe is an awesome throwback! LOVE LOVE LOVE the new uni’s and wish we’d go to them full time, and wear traditional ones 2-4 games a year.. Though you’re right tex, crimson jersey could be a bit more crimson..
Lets Rock this place!!!
I think we win by 17, if we get pressure on Petty early and often, could be by a much larger split. With the wind gusting, is that a plus for us?
I get to watch the first half, then listen to the rest in the car while driving… got to go for now. Will try to check in later. Have a great game, y’all! Boomer!!
What does Stoops have against jamming the receivers at the line is scrimmage???? Jam the freakin receivers. Anyone can get open when the DB is playing 10 yards off of you.
Our run blocking may not have been as dominant this year as expected, but man are we spoiled right now by our awesome pass blocking. We are really going to miss Thompson and Williams. Our O line will be the big question mark next year on an otherwise mature team.
Trevor seems to be at his best when he is under pressure. His inconsistency is maddening though. He dropped two dimes on that drive that were things of beauty, but that easy throw to Bell was gawdawful
He missed one pass and you’re gonna call him inconsistent? Sorry, I’m not buying it. He should be 80% if they don’t drop the ones that him them in the hands.
He hasn’t been perfect but imho, he’s been waaay more accurate than most folks think. Virtually all of the missed throws have been drops or incorrect routes by the receivers. Or passes like the one to Quick where he was held after the ball was in the air and he ends up half a step short to get to the ball.
ain’t that harrington? maybe he doesn’t like us cause he knows we woulda beat his boys at their place if it wasn’t for ref collusion. that 3rd and 21 he said the kid has to make the catch to pick up the 1st….he was still fairly short and would have needed a pretty good push….all that to say this. yes he does need to
Long way to go, so I suppose it’s too early to rest my case…:) Keith Ford looks GREAT. Great blitz pickup. Trevor is outstanding! Vaulting, keeping, and has made some unbelievable throws, and now that the receivers are getting open and hanging on to the ball the pass game is rolling. Trevor’s got Toby delaying his call as to whether it’s a handoff or not, now. The defense is all over Petty. 2 scores into the wind! Pretty decent 1st Q.
I like our prospects here, but after that play I would just remind folks that everybody thought Baylor was out of the game by half when they played TCU. And we all know how that turned out. Gotta keep our foot on the gas.
Just need the offense to keep rolling now I trust mike to make some adjustments at halftime so if we go in with a lead then I expect we will see a victory.
We should employ a little person with a sawed-off broom handle about 2 feet long, and he should follow Mike Stoops around. Every time he calls for 3 rushing the passer, this person should whack Mike repeatedly in the shins until he apologizes.
Well, unfortunately this is Knights game and it will probably never change. He just doesn’t know how to read a defense and see the field. Also he needs to run with authority!
I’m ready to see a new QB, Trevor CAN be good, but for whatever reason he just cannot read defenses. He has not learned how to look of receivers and just isnt consistent enough to be the starting QB for a team like OU.
Based on what? Bell was extremely more consistent than Knight. The point is Knight is NOT good enough to be starting for OU and I’m not saying Bell is. But the season for argument sake is over as far as a NC, so lets see and start to develop these younger guys. Can’t be any worse than 2-3 guaranteed picks a game from Trevor.
I dont get it…maybe I’m just naive and dont realize how often linemen get away with holding. but to me, holding is just way too costly to even try to get with it. Why not just see if your back can get the yards without you holding?
That’s what’s so frustrating about Trevor, he picks who he’s gonna throw to before they line up. No matter what the coverage is like, he WILL eye that receiver down and throw him the ball.
it is beyond me why people don’t give Trevor as much grief as they gave Landry…Landry was way better than Knight and people acted like he was as bad as Bomar
That’s got to be close to 15 yards the Baylor wide receivers have between them and our DBs. I just don’t understand why Stoops plays our secondary soooo far off the receivers.
it’s like they don’t have specific packages they’re going with, just making it up as they go along… 10 men on the field? 12 men on the field? “OK, Jimmy, run out there and replace Johnny AND Stevie.”
way too many mistakes. But the refs are helping Baylor big time. That should have been a 5 ydf penalty instead of 15 on the kick. And their key play on that drive was an illegal formation, should have been our ball.
Exactly, force Petty to make a great throw 20-30 yards down field. He won’t hit them all. Give him a five yard, wide open throw and he’ll hit it 99 times out of 100.
I have trying NOT to say this the whole season because I have so much respect for both Stoops brothers but a lot of our problems this year is solely based on coaching. Our defensive scheme with this 10 yard cushion crap. Our horrible offensive play calling at times. Our inability to have right number of players on the field after a time out is nothing but BAD coaching. I have to say it but I am ready to see a new fresh leader co e to OU and do what the this talent ridden team is capable of.
did you expect to come to a game thread and not see people express their frustrations during a home game in which they’re losing? It’s part of it- same thing is going on in countless bars and even in the stands.
Let me just say….listening to Merv Johnson on the radio is classic. I think he is as pissed and disgusted as we are. You can just hear him sigh and breath when something goes wrong.
I agree. Merv gets very frustrated at the fundamental things being blown, including coaching. I picture Merv hitting the flask a few times (not that it happens, just a funny visual).
We are only down 10 at half. I think Mike will make some great adjustments for the second half and we come out rolling. Trevor gets the offense going and we end up on top.
Im with you there, however it may be that he doesn’t trust the corners to turn and cut quick enough on the receivers. Zack I think is able, but not sure about the other side. Could be why the backup CB was in?
Well then how about this: 14 of Baylor’s points were absolute gifts. TK9’s all-but-pick 6 and the atrocious(sorry if that’s too negative but it’s true) defensive play calls on the last drive. If OU adjusts and can get a stop to start the 3rd we can get back in this. Ford and Knight are averaging over 5 ypc running the ball. Pound the rock, give TK reasonable distances on 3rd and play tough on D and it’s possible. We can’t GIVE BU anymore points though.
Exactly, Jay. We are so deep at running back…..run the ball and control the clock. Defense stays rested and we keep the ball out of their hands. We’re not turning ball over by fumble. Diamond formation and option them to death to set up pass. Get our stud running backs out there together rolling down hill……play tough or go home! Boomer Sooner
I’m not worried about the defense. Mike and bob have a history of making adjustments at half time that’s how you become as successful as they’ve been.
On the other hand if heupel doesn’t call a read option keeper QB PA and hit someone on a slant or post then he really needs to be gone. The throw is there on the read option keeper since they’re spying knight.
Oh okay, you mean where he fake runs, but pulls up to throw. I think they ran them, but he didnt actually “fake run.” or maybe it was just a normal play action on the option. Either way, they’re open and we need to hit them!! lol
Just getting on here today. Not going to read through 500+ comments. I just want to say I am SICK of M.Stoops playing his guys 7-10 yards off the receivers when they need 5 or less yards for a 1st down. It’s especially aggravating when it’s 4th & 3!!!!!!!!! AAAHHHHHHHHH!!!
Well, I 100% disagree with you there. I love them. Certainly has nothing to do with performance.. these are coaching problems that show up no matter what uniform we wear!
This the bad thing about 11AM games. It can ruin the rest of the day of really good football games it you lose. Wonder what the recruits at the game are thinking? Would love to get the Allen QB ( Kyle is his name I think)
RE: Negative Comments/Feeling of the thread
We are passionate fan base for sure, you will get praised when you play with fire and passion, and you will raked over the coals when you play uninspired, mistake filled, passive, general terrible play. Time play ball…. BOOMER!
I actually think that might be the worst thing that could happen..players not believing in the coaches enough to openly question them is going to be BAD for recruiting
probably upset that he is getting chewed for not making plays, when they keep forcing him into soft coverage. Cant cover the quick pass from 7-10 yards off…
Baylor ran the same play straight down the field with corners playing off 7 to 10 yards ..why are we playing off in the red zone….this is easily the worst D play calling i can remember from M Stoops very very bad
Wont matter. No one will press him on any issue, everything will be execution related, and wait, the “fans suck.” What I’m starting to see is, that Sooner Nation can see the writing on the wall, but the coaches cannot.
What an embarrassing showing today. After all the good things they did last week against Iowa State why do you come out and run the same stuff that hasn’t been working. I was never part of the get rid of Stoops party but after today I am. He’s become to comfortable and is just resting on his laurels. Neither Bob or Mike should be here anymore, times have changed and they just can’t keep up. I feel bad for all the recruits that wasted a perfectly good Saturday coming down to Norman to watch this excuse of a team. This team disappoints year in and year out and this year has been the biggest of them all. This team can match up athlete wise with any team in the country and our head coach and coordinators don’t give them the opportunity to do that. I wouldn’t be surprised if every big name recruit we were in on crosses us off the list after this week. What has OU shown this year that would make you want to come here?
The OU Staff definately has a problem staying with certain players to long…Julian Wilson should of been pulled …although him pressing coverage is not his call…Mike Stoops has completely called a bad game
We had no answer for Baylor. We don’t have the their speed. End of story.
Losses to Baylor, tcu, and kst means:
Best win is WVU
4th in big 12
Losses 3 out of 4 to Baylor = Baylor program surpasses us.
We aren’t as good as we thought we were.
For the sixth straight year we have not finished in the top 4.( playoffs)
Our corners/safeties don’t have the speed to match Baylor wrs.
Mismatch we lose
But I would rather them press and get in their face and fight and get beat rather be passive and let them walk all over us.
The only time Heupel likes to run it is when it’s 3rd and 1, or 4th and 1, and the whole nation, including my 2 year old, know that it’s coming right straight up the freakin middle.
I agree he needs to go.
Great offensive coordinators don’t need to keep plays in their back pocket all year. To surprise teams.
Great coordinators every week create wrinkles to put their players in good position.
Josh doesn’t have that skill
I’m going to the history channel. It was fun following this thread, maybe the coaches could learn something if they followed it as well. Hope everyone has a good weekend.
KCsoonerfan……….yes & no… TK cratered on the big stage with the game-changing pick and hunnicut cratered on another chip shot FG.. That’s on the players. This team lacks playmaking leadership on the field and some coaches who believe in their players enough to play a challenging defensive scheme. THIS is why Stoops didn’t want any part of the SEC. He’d be facing this type of talent every week. And, to be fair, there isn’t near the TALENT on this team the fans have been led to believe there is. Because there is no margin for error, the team goes into a tailsin /funk when mistakes occur. The only question remaining is the final score but this game ended in the 2nd Q.
I agree on Hunnicut, that is inexcusable, but we seem to abandon the one thing we do well and that is run. TK isn’t a passing QB, he needs a solid running game. To me that is on the coaches. JH hasn’t proven to be able to call a game consistently. The fact he is still calling plays is on Bob Stoops.
I think we all ended last season thinking since we beat Alabama a corner had been turned. Fact is Alabama didn’t care about that game as much as we did.
Yea, always royally sux when I feel like I’ve completely wasted my time, watching our game. Guess thats one me though…could always turn it off. But I dont.
He was playing tight on a big pass play on Baylor’s last drive. Nearly cost us a TD. I like him, but his mind’s not right. Coaches called a horrible game, and now he’s pissed. Hard to play mad.
Rough afternoon for the whole Stoops family. Baylor overwhelming OU up front on both sides. Just like last year.— Chris Fowler (@cbfowler) November 8, 2014
And to all that ask “who would you choose to replace Stoops?” I say, does it matter? Can’t tell me there isn’t some one out there like Stoops 1998 style.
Ok so BS revamped the assistant coached etc a bit ago, and now we have this ….. I truly do not know how far the program has to fall before a change is made at the top…..
No we don’t have much more talent.
We won’t dominate the big 12 like we have in years past.
Coaching has improved drastically. Art briles, snyder (retirement???), Patterson has his offense finally.
Not sure you’ve been watching this game Ed, I know you mentioned baseball stuff, but this has been horrible man. Can’t vouch for others and their comments, but this has been a bad game, and unfortunately, it looks as if its coaching. again.
Just got back from practice and saw the last offensive series, but have been checking in on my phone. OU was up 14-3 and then the Baylor flood gates opened…WTF happened?
Not trying to argue here. I’m really interested in your response. What, exactly, should we be positive about here? Baylor is not a more talented team here. We have been straight up out coached all game long.
Ed C………….the performance today has warrented every negative comment made and that still doesn’t describe the ‘stink’ eminating from the OU sideline today. The staff lost confidence in their defense, the team has lost confidence in the staff, and the team quit. Let that sink in a moment : this team quit today.
Ed, correct it was all around loss by everyone today. The staff and players are at odds (re: wilson back and forth MS/BS today). Think the fans here are expecting the usual platitudes from the staff, and kind of forsee the same product on the field for upcoming games. That kind of apathy is a cancer
Let’s be realistic here guys. B Stoops has built up years and years of goodwill and benefit-of-the-doubt. He’s not leaving unless he wants to. He obviously sees what he wants in JH, and M Stoops isn’t going anywhere either. This is the coaching staff we have. This is what is going to happen until B Stoops decides there needs to be a change.
People are going to vent, and be unhappy, but ultimately it will come down to Bob’s decisions. Would not put it past him to move forward without JH next year. Losing like this at home is extremely disappointing, but it’s players and coaches, not just the coaches.
Yeah, he’s bought himself a year or two of good will. That said, to make the millions of $$$ worth of stadium upgrades requires donor money. The checkbook speaks loudest. This kind of losing will get you fired in a year or two.
You know what OU has become? Nebraska. Top 25 team that isn’t really a contender. Will occasionally beat someone better than them but you can count on them to lose to most teams of equal or greater talent. Living on past success at this point.
The sad part is OU still has great access to Texas and California, while NU is struggling to break new recruiting ground. This is very much the 2005 Orange Bowl, where lots of talent is lollygagging around after being put in bad positions and apparently taking a relaxation nap during half time.
Harrington keeps mentioning Baylor being under-ranked due to perception and maybe this is the game that breaks that. Conversely I think this might be the game where OU quits being over-ranked due to past perception.
I played college ball and it gets frustrating when fans start saying that players committed to the school should decommit. Makes me question the fans commitment. Take it as you will, but I will support the team, players and coaches through thick and thin. I just don’t need to put down the team and school because I am upset with a loss. Having been a player I know they are pissed about how this is going.
Unless I’m a huge ou fan I’m not going to this team.
I’m in Baylor offense or tcu defense .
Texas a&m in sec will always be a factor. ( I know they suck but sec)
First time Ive ever said this. But its time for some new blood in the OU program. This team has become stale, predictable, and soft. Ive never been on the fire Bob train, but this is sad. This team looks lost out there.
End of 3rd qtr. 17 rush attempts between Ross Ford and Perine. Apparently Heupel is not a history fan. Does he not remember last year?
Once again, he got away from our strength. I thought we looked good when running. Then next thing you know he would call 4 straight passes and we would punt.
Face facts, OU is the old guard, and the old gaurd d is getting hosed trying to rely on past accomplishments as a program will render OUr team mediocre at best
RBear……………….a total team effort. most likely will be laughing, listening to their MP3’s , and Bob will bemoan execution errors and how everything will improve next week .
Do you really think so? I don’t see it- I’m seeing some frustration on the part of the players- wouldn’t doubt the beginnings of a polarized team unless something big changes and I just don’t see it.
Interested to see how the players rebound from this game. The next few weeks will speak to the character of these young men. Hoping for a positive ending to this season.
So, I mean this in all seriousness. But, do we have to give C. Thomas a shot at QB now? Knight is apparently not going to be the answer.. Though as long as JH is calling plays not sure it will matter..
With the season being nearly over, it would take Knight getting hurt. I think the coaches are banking on Justice Hansen to be the QB of the future, so I don’t see them making any desperation move in inserting Thomas.
I don’t think so. My guess is they’ll stay with knight, unless Hansen completely blows them away. Really can’t see them burning his redshirt this late in the season. Of course, if Trevor’s injury is serious, they might have to.
Daddy R………………..it won’t matter as long as JH is OC…..Obviously he doesn’t have an offensive scheme that will work on top clubs who are motivated ( TCU/KST/Baylor). And M Stoops apparantly doesn’t have a defensive answer either nor does he apparantly believe in his CB’s to play press coverage well enough to make it work like WV did. OU is a sitting duck against any QB who is halfway accurate and has made national stars out of Boykin & Petty….
It would be kind of cool to see the new guys do something. I think they have the more complete team over KSU, but dang that Bill Snyder and his lucky windbreakers.
What will it take for this team/coaching staff to realize what they have been doing the last few years is not going to win you championships or games against good teams?
Of who realistically? The only one I can see them firing is Kish. The rest are either good recruiters (Montgomery, Bedenbaugh) or have been around forever and Stoops will be loyal to. Or he’s related to them.
The posters over at BC are asking the very same questions we are asking, albeit with a lot more glee. They are calling a big recruiting gain from this as well. Not really that important, just found it interesting that we aren’t making this stuff up. Everyone is watching.
I understand why some people lose their avid allegiance to sports as they age. Too much heartache that ruins too many weekends in the context of clearly more important priorities. I’ll always be a Sooner but time for a little perspective 🙂
I agree with the age aspect, losses don’t bother me as much as they used to. I haven’t been angry watching a game for a long time until today. It makes me angry that the players look like they quit, the coaches simply gave up and looked like they quit. This is an EMBARRASSING loss. Very frustrating.
I have the same feelings Kyle. I didn’t get to watch the first half, so I would probably be more angered than I am. That last drive by Baylor was horrible from an OU defensive standpoint. But yes, there are more important things in life than an OU loss.
Sports provides us an outlet for pent up frustrations in our day-to-day lives, a chance to cheer or vent but we have to guard against becoming too emotionally invested for sure. Keep things in perspective and attend to what truly deserves our attention.
I’m wondering if that was part disciplinary for yelling at coaches though. He played some after that but they deserved it. Wilson had a good view of their terrible scheme to start the second half. He should’ve been more physical and pressed but the scheme wasn’t set up for anything but allowing Baylor to score.
I f-ing hate the unis. We are OU, NOT Oregon and certainly not OSU. We have tradition, if that isn’t good enough for the players then coaches aren’t doing enough to sell the brand!
Rashad…………1.) this staff and its head coach is stale and coasting on past laurels ; 2.) way too much ‘dead wood’ suited up on the Sooner sideline. If they are worse than what played today, they don’t merit a scholarship ; 3.) find another kicker to use the final three games. Honeycutt is no longer dependable ; 4.) give C Thomas more time the remainder of the season. What could it hurt ? Knight is not the answer and simply fails in the big, important games. No crime in it but OU needs a QB who excels in the big games. Knight isn’t that guy.; 5.) give Norvell a chance as OC the final three games. Maybe he would be an improvement over JH ; 6.) keep this team home during the holidays and no bowl game.
I wear OU stuff around on Saturday even after losses, proud to be a Sooner. I’m going to change today before going to the grocery store. I don’t want anyone to mention this one.
So far today Stoops lost the home crowd, lost his team(not saying for good, but he certainly lost their effort today), lost his starting QB, probably lost some recruits, lost the mystique of the OU home field advantage, and gave up 45 unanswered points. Did I miss anything?
Merv Johnson just said it……running game averaging over 6 yards a carry in this game. Something really smells. What kind of offensive game plan was this!
Yea it would, for me anyway. I always come into season expecting greatness. and unfortunately since the year 2000, I’ve always been disappointed. lol (though smashing Saban was nice!!)
Nah. TT sux. Perine, Ford, Ross, Smith. (How the hell we not see smith today in a blowout? after last weeks breakout in mop up?? man this staff is perplexing sometimes.)
I will have to kill myself if Tech beats us! We are just very inconsistent and we have some coaching problems that may even be affecting morale- which is an even bigger problem then young players of course.
Time for new offensive coordinator. We have way too much offensive talent not to be killing teams we play. After this home loss the second this year, I hope for change. We have got to put a better product on the field.
Agreed. Which is why they need to promote Josh to another opportunity somewhere else. The kids are not being put in the best position to win. This has become a trend …no bueno…
There is no 1st or 2nd rd NFL talent on this 2014 roster.
No tape-ability.
Need nfl talent to win championships.
Ksu synder doesn’t have nfl talent either but wins games b/c he is phenomenal at putting his players in position to win and they don’t beat themselves but ksu won’t win a natty either.
Shepard might be a late 2nd round player right now. There are players that might be there in a year or two. I don’t disagree with your point though. There isn’t enough talent. We are all kidding ourselves thinking we get 10+ diamond in the rough recruits each year.
three bad plays, and then offense and defense couldnt do anything good enough in second half. Strangely, he sounded at peace. Maybe he’s happy we’re out of it?
I just dont get it!! We let their 3/4 WR have a lifetime game against us, we showed no adjustments after halftime still playing way to soft on the corners
it’s discouraging to see our coaches do the same thing over and over and over again and expecting something different to happen. is it too tough to see that you can’t play 10 yards off the receiver and only send 3 guys at the QB? get up on the receiver, hit him off the line and send our pass rushing specialists and get them out of a rhythm. we started of doing so well….why go away from it?
This is what I don’t get, maybe someone has an answer for it, but if we are rushing 3 and they have five in the pattern, that means we could double 3 of their receivers and man up the other 2. how are they getting so wide open???
ou plays a zone d so they sit off wr 8-12 yards so they wont get burned on the deep ball. In playing a zone basically your telling the other team you dont have any confidence whatsoever in your one on on man press. i had thought we switched to a 3-4 D but today i think it was more like a 3-1-7
Wow. I wanted to stop watching. Has Mike lost this defense? I was shocked to see Wilson jawing with Mike….but I don’t blame him. Defense has been awful at key moments and 3rd downs this season.
That was also the drive where the DB’s played 10 yards off and they picked up 5 yards on the edge at least 5 times in a row. I would be very angry too. I would have just played up on the line myself… If I had any talent at all. Haha.
2nd game ive turned off in the stoops era, 1st being the loss to USC for the title. Not because we were losing, but because we quit. Cant believe after the effort they showed last year they would be capable of it, but alas.
Disastrous game and season, but as long as knight is ok, thats all that matters now. Good kid, and hate to see him hurt.
I agree. And he’s a great guy. I continue to have doubts about whether he is physically tough enough to play at this level, however. And that might be a possible explanation why they were so worried about him running earlier in the year and kept him handing off for so long into the season rather then running. He continues to improve as a quarterback, but he still makes some very bad decisions and appears to have a problem seeing defensive players and open receivers alike in the heat of the game, and is badly affected by pressure making him an inconsistent player all season. I wonder if we should move on to another QB even this late in the season, or attribute most of the blame to coaching and a lot of drops from receivers who are supposed to be much better themselves at this point.
he definitely has trouble seeing defenders at times, and it really bites him bad.
He could stand to add a little to his frame, but I think hes tough enough to play the way we need. Hes still got 2 years, and should continue to improve. But theres got to be competition for the job, and the best man should play.
I don’t know having too many men on the field after a TO seems like 94-98 all over again. But no we really haven’t gotten quite that bad. Though we don’t have four eligible QB’s to play in the same game, so there is that.
I was certainly part of it. And I wouldnt take it back, because the style Venebles played was what is Mike is playing now. IF I had known Mike wouldnt play an attacking defense, I would have wished for a different hire. But yea, I wanted Venebles gone and Mike back… Man.. I thought Mike was the “fire” of the team when he left, and I thought he’d bring it back.
I personally don’t see a huge difference between the 2. After Mike left, the Big 12 got more pass happy and tougher to defend, and his defenses at Arizona mostly sucked. Right now there really isn’t any defense that is stopping the spread – not consistently anyway. Not in the SEC. Not anywhere.
Venebles needed to go. Mike had been part of the gooD times and him being able to bring the mojo was plausible. Not so much now. Either this defense had been propped up by talented players making up for a bad scheme or OU has not so good players that cannot carry out the scheme. Judging by the body language of the players I thinks the DC keeps switching things up to the point his players are freaking running circles.
I went outside to do some chores. Only the second time in my life I’ve ever done so. Down 41-14 and virtually no changes from halftime. Too painful to watch. Can’t imagine this game helped us recruiting wise either.
My main issue is I don’t see the improvement in play, because of the inconsistencies in coaching. Maybe Mike should go back to the defense he knows and feels confident with. We need an offensive coordinator who is aggressive and unafraid.
Rough afternoon for the whole Stoops family. Baylor overwhelming OU up front on both sides. Just like last year.— Chris Fowler (@cbfowler) November 8, 2014
I have to disagree with this statement. OU was not overwhelmed upfront on either side of the ball!! Fowler is becoming a douche. The back end of the D got torched. 5-10 yard cushion got us killed. We smashed it down their throat in the 1st quarter and it was successful. Then FUJH, as he always does when things work, went away from it!!! Where was the QB counter we ran last week?? We didn’t run anything we did last week. We out rushed then, and if we would have stuck with it, it would have been by a wider margin. This one is all on the coaches and the position they out their players in!! If this is the product we get from 3 weeks prep, I’ll take 4 days prep over this crap any day!!
Think Fowler could do better? If we were in the SEC it would be about how many players are young, and how the expectations for us were too high this year, and that we will still be ina bowl like the other wonderful teams in our great conference, and the wonderful team that we will have next year with all of this great game experience “under our belts.” He IS a D-bag isn’t he?
Terrific news RT @john_shinn: Durron Neal just said Knight was up and walking around in the locker room. #sooners— Brandon Chatmon (@BChatmon) November 8, 2014
Before the game ou was 105th in pass defence, that coach needs the boot!! osu was 109 now after this game were prob the last in the big 12 with tt and osu to go.
Wilson…………..think you can add two more losses to Ou ( TT/OKie ST) and one win ( Kansas) = 7-5 and a minor bowl bid if the team wishes to accept such… OU wins the national trophy for the most most disappointing team in D-1 football for 2014.
Although Georgia and South Carolina gave us a run early for that title. This teams problem is its QB and his coordinator. They are not in sync. Coordinator needs to stop asking him to do things he has shown so far he can’t do at this point in his career. Will the light ever come on? The question is will the coaches have the courage to bench him? Will they let him start next year if the other quarterbacks are better? Maybe he will get better, but other QBs may just have the moxie and field general ship TK is lacking at this point in his career.
Really? what a great attitude our coach has. Why not just man-up. thats almost a disgusting remark by him. And its not the first time I’ve heard something like that from him.
Geez. Is Bob indulging in a pity party now? That’s not like him. Probably just snapping at reporters. There are certainly things he can change and putting his little brother on the carpet is one of them. Or just overriding his defense on the field when he see’s it isn’t working. I know it’s not the end of the world but we were aggressive on defense in the first quarter and winning, and passive and soft from then on and losing! Come on coaches! Make it happen!
just listened to the audio of the above remark………….it was a po’d response to a hoover question ……..the above is not the full give-and-take and does not give the context
It just hurts to lose like this. I remember seeing John Blake running over to hug someone who had just fumbled our chances away again and I realized I was done with him as a coach. You can have all the concern about your players in the world but still not act like you’re praising them for screwing up! Bob needs to take a hard look at what we are accomplishing with our game plans, OC, and DC and make some changes of some sort, that’s for damn sure. And now Hunnicutt’s problems have resurfaced as well. Worse then that our entire team seemed to lose faith in our chances because of a missed field goal! It should have been a chip shot but that was sure as heck not going to be the deciding factor in the game unless you MADE IT the deciding factor in the game by turtling up! Geez.
The point is that I am used to O.U. teams that go through that little setback with the absolute conviction that they can still win. And that early in the game you not only can win – we have done it almost too many times to count over the years! Are they doubting the coaching, or themselves, is what one has to wonder.
The entire staff is tired, worn out, and without the energy or enthusiasm to ‘right the ship’ . Need to follow Texas lead and jettison the entire group, hire a younger staff with ‘some get up & go’, cull out the ‘deadwood’ on the team, and try to do better next year.
I keep hearing this spouted, but never any backed-up logical ideas on replacements who will do better. It’s easy to yell for firings, but not so easy to actually suggest who would be the solution.
It looks like they’re going to have to have some serious team meetings. It also looks like Mike has lost the faith of some of the players, as well as the fans.
Best part of the game after the first quarter. I loved the confidence and swagger his defenses had before he left for AZ. But now, the D is a hot mess. I hope this leads to measurable change.
today i lost faith in Mike Stoops..to play off of WR’s and just allow catch n throw first downs was deplorable ..he let down his Defense..and today a serious look needs to be looked at and acknowledged..and to hear him say “u need to try and make the qb make an accurate throw ” is common sense
Stayed away from the game thread, not happy with what I watched. Trevor isn’t very accurate, can’t see LB’s in coverage. Kicker has a case of kickeritis. O line is big but not mean enough to whip a determined opponent. The defense is a total mess, we have no secondary other than Sanchez the gambler and Parker who is just young but wants to be a star. All we can do now is hope to win against weaker teams down the stretch and convince some good recruits that playing time will come early.
I’m sorry I’ve been keeping my mouth shut and thinking the coaches know better and if they say the kids aren’t playing good then that’s what I had thought until now. The zone coverage and defense break down was on Mike. Now there was some poor execution on offense but it’s you are running good then why stop. Even though we were down it wasn’t to bad until the end on 3rd quarter. The play calling on both side of ball was bad and has been the death of this team for a couple years. Mike was good in the past but not now. We need a coach that can bring the swagger back in the D. We need attacking styles all around. No guts No glory.
I recall Jordan’s observation at Bob’s October 27 press conference – Bob showed up in a yellow polo shirt.
Now, why would that matter?
If your job was, say, a uniformed police officer – and you showed up for work in a bright casual shirt – would that not indicate a lack of interest in being a uniformed police officer?
Part of any job is to “look the part”.
Bob easily could have worn any number of OU crimson gear to his job at that 10/27 press conference.
Now we see loads of talent regressing weekly towards a Kansas-level of play.
I wonder if Bob has mentally quit. I hope I’m wrong – I think he could win the big one at least once more.
haha – yep, amateur psychology is not an accurate thing. But it just looks like the coaching staff has checked out – the lights are on but nobody is home.
A couple of games back, one of our best D players said they had no idea what to do with wide splits.
I agree on most points and adamantly agree that is time to end the Trevor Knight experiment because we have failed to development him or he just isn’t much of a QB. He seems critical errors that hurt you inclose games
Kendall’s knee buckled while throwing a deep pass. I didn’t see the game but found an article: http://collegefootball.ap.org/indexjournal/article/utah-qb-thompson-out-leg-injury
Terrible shame – Kendall had earned the starting job, pulled the triggers on the Ute’s opening drive TD. KT might have upset the Ducks if he’d QB’d all 4 quarters.
Best wishes to him for quick 100% recovery.
Something seems different here. I can’t explain it, but I just wouldn’t be surprised if Bob called it quits after this season. Just a feeling I have that maybe he’s finally burned out.
Agreed. Sometimes it seems by his facial demeanor, like he almost despises the fans, the media, and maybe even OK itself.. Just finally had his fill of the Sooners?

Yessir, good and ready.
I hope OU wins with a score of 100-fart.
Heading out to the game with my dad. I’m gonna be so loud people are going to think something is wrong with me.
And they would be right, you got the Victory Fever.

James Brown = “The Boss.”
Dude that’s Bruce Springsteen. James Brown was, The Hardest Working Man in Show Business.
referring to his song, “the boss.” as in, it pays the cost, to be the boss. I view him as a “boss.” lol but yes, definitely the “hardest working man in show business.”
That is how it is done.
I’m not home. I will be at a swim meet all day. Where can I stream the game? I have an iPad.
I’m on Cox. Fox Sports 1 is a digital channel for set top boxes. If you are a Pay TV subscriber and and this channel is accessible at your home, just log into your cable account and you can stream the game.
Thanks, JJ. I’m in Ohio. League restrictions. I can’t get the game.
Game is a lock for YouTube replay and one can get the audio stream via Sooner Sports TV membership.

Read this morning that OU’s secondary is #105 in the country in passing yards allowed per game. Link: http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/695/p3
So hopefully Mike Stoops unleashes Striker and tries to confuse Petty, because Baylor has plenty of weapons to expose our secondary
You know who ranks even worse than us? The #1 team in the country.
Noticed that also. But Baylor exposes bad secondaries. And while I’m not saying OU plays “bad” defense, that #105 ranking is concerning heading into the game against a passing attack as prolific as Baylor’s
You have to take into consider that the teams with the most passing success against us had a running QB to deal with as well.
Good point.
Bryce Petty has run the ball effectively in the past, including against us last year. Is he still running the ball much?
52 carries for 111 yards and 3 td’s over 7 games. Plus the fact he has some sort of spinal injury and they don’t want him running the rock.
******News FLASH………There’s an open season on Bears in Cleveland County today only with a “No-Limit” clause”!!******
BOOM!!!!
Think Shep being productive for 4 quarters will be big in this game to help keep baylor’s O off the field as much as possible.
BOOMER!!
Man, that sucks!
Go Sooners!
They are better than their record indicates.
Truthfully, I like to think you are right. But I think Julian Wilson may be a liability today. He never presses coverage because of his lack of speed. I am worried that Mike S will play more 8 man coverage as opposed to attacking Petty.
Let’s eat some Bear meat today!!!!
Soccer last night, step 1; Football this morning, step 2; Volleyball tonight, step 3.
BOOMER!!!
Good morning, TFB. I’m ready to for OU to beat up on Baylor, Boomer!
SOONER!
For those out of the state, the game will be on Sirius 119 and XM 199, as per Oklahoma Football tweet.

I think we play solid, DOMINATING, Sooner football today. Baylor gets treated like Baylor of old..
Sooners 38, Bears 17
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JATdOXA771A
Alt Uniforms look a lot better now that they’re actually wearing them. Except for the helmet stripe, I really hate that stripe.
Ha see the stripe reminds me of Nebraska.
See, that is the generational thing. When I first fell in love with OU football in the 50’s that’s what they wore.
True, Stoops has been OU’s Coach almost my whole life. Lol
Here’s to Quick breakin out!! BOOM!
http://i.imgur.com/z6GTGLz.jpg
I actually like the early kick off. With this being the 4th in a row for OU, I wonder if BU has kicked off this early all season.
Anyone else know when the Fox Sports Go live stream begins?
Probably when the game starts. On the channel right now and there’s an NFL show on.
They literally only have one ad running on here and I’m too hung over for it.
wind will be a big factor…ugh…
Lets Rock this place!!!
I think we win by 17, if we get pressure on Petty early and often, could be by a much larger split. With the wind gusting, is that a plus for us?
For the past four days my mind has been stuck on OU by 24.
Either a premonition or a brain tumor.
Lets go with the premonition thing… I definitely like your way of thinking.
I get to watch the first half, then listen to the rest in the car while driving… got to go for now. Will try to check in later. Have a great game, y’all! Boomer!!
Sooner!!
S0000Ner!!
Are there enough BU fans at the game to sing their team’s theme song?
No Shep today
🙁
yeah, just heard. that is not good news
Did pretty well w/o last week, we’ll see if the younger guys can step up again
SHOOT NO SHEP
DANG!
Next man up.
youngsters gotta catch everything in their vicinity
Dangit
eye exam this morning, just wanted to say boomer!!!!!
eyes dikated cant read grrrrr
Sooner!!!
On the bright side, you can be a Big 12 ref.
And an award winning replay ref in the Pac12.
Damn. Bell miss got us on this drive. Lets go D!
Go Sooners! Defense!
I want an INT
There we go! Nice stop!
man these uni’s look damn good!
I was thinking the exact opposite
Haha!
Petty didn’t seem fond of being squashed by Phillips.
/i like it
Yup he’s full grown:-)
lets hit Petty early and often.
I like the 4 screen view on Soonersports.tv! looks great
Quick! Heck yeah!
Too much early toe-stubbing going on here
Nice fake
Not sure what Trevor saw there…
Not much
I know what he didn’t see… linebacker
Target fixation.
yeah, the the throw was good, but gotta spot that green guy in the lane
Knight really is a terrible thrower
Disagree.
not
He was just pumped up.
He can be accurate, he just makes bad decisions at times.
Stares down receivers a bit much but throws a pretty good ball
needs some rhythm. a few swing passes, and some short outs/slants should do it. and what you already said, Run the ball, will help.
Need to run the dang ball
Dayuum, these receivers need to make some catches! Stickum??
Folks keep in mind they’re having to throw into the wind right now
Pity the Petty
me no likey
What in the world…
Good morning gentlemen… the temperature is 110 degrees…
what!? where?
top gun reference
Nice! I dont remember that line. been a while since I’ve allowed myself a watch though..
Howdy!
Bend and break defense… interesting choice Mike.
Must be nice to have an accurate QB.
OU is about to get a INT
maybe a fumble?
Not with the cushion the DBs are giving
Neither team is executing. Good for us.
Why do we play so far off?
Ebola is only reason I can think of.
Thing about BU is you make an adjustment, so do they.
Need a better push on the D line.
Sometimes OU seems to have too much respect for the opponent. I say play fast and with aggression until they prove they can beat you.
This.
Could be big early to get a stop here
Could someone throw their shoe and hit Stoops in the back of the head! Rushing only 3 isn’t working!
Guessing they come out with FG attempt. Offense really shouldnt have subbed if they wanted that quick-hitter. sure am glad the game lets D sub too..
true, gotta watch the fake or the play action here.
Why are we still rushing 3 and dropping 8????? Petty has ALL day!!!
I’d hit him until he spit up blood
Right??????
no idea why we play 7 yards off , seriously
What does Stoops have against jamming the receivers at the line is scrimmage???? Jam the freakin receivers. Anyone can get open when the DB is playing 10 yards off of you.
how do we do that coming out of a timeout…un freaking real
…
Noooo!
grrrr
ok changed the zoom can read now…12 men on the field after a TO ! damn
bush-league mistakes attributed to… once again, coaching- Have your freakin’ guys ready!!!!!
Who should be fired for that?
LOL!
D fence
tweak that spine…
Jeeeeezebus! That was an egregious hold!
what a stinking blitz!!!
We couldn’t do that when they were at midfield?
Yeah buddy! Block it
Great stop D.
Gotta go back to the too many men on the field (AFTER A TO) play… WTF? I mean, seriously??????
Nice blitz. We seem to be getting inside Petty’s head a bit.
The D seems confident and unrattled.
Need the O to do the same thing.
preach on brother man!
OK O your turn….
Time for A. Ross return for TD!
Our run blocking may not have been as dominant this year as expected, but man are we spoiled right now by our awesome pass blocking. We are really going to miss Thompson and Williams. Our O line will be the big question mark next year on an otherwise mature team.
Is Petty just the type of confident kid that you like to have running your O or is he a tad on the too cocky side?
We really need another CB. I would pick on Wilson all day
Special teams effort today… Nice. You could see the hustle in that field goal block attempt.
Time to run the rock hard
Great return, time for Offense to step up!
Petty went fetal before the blitz even got there. We should send pressure all day long.
am I missing something here………bu won the toss, deferred, AND got the wind?
Ford! yay
Ford and Perine available, nice..hey JH make note of it
Great to see 21 handle the rock
lets get Ford going, he’s our best back
Perine is helluva 1A back 🙂
Hell, run it all day long if they’re gonna give it… milk that clock.
Running working…lets stop
Dont start the Run Run Run Run….Incomplete, Incomplete, Run crap
whoa nellie
Whoa!
I’d like that comment 8 times if I could
Never. Again. Ever.
holy hell nice play TK9, now do not do that again 🙂
nows hes here, now hes not
Holy crap Trevor …damn
I dont have the channel….WHAT HAPPENED
TK9 leapfrogged a defender
like Trey Millard leap frogged?
Dude was standing up
SWEET…..no one has ever doubted his ability to run
Guarantee he can dunk. Two handed.
Sterling Shep more like.
not exactly as forcelull 🙂
Baylor getting run over!
that is 2 big penalties that didn’t get called
maybe it’s my idea , but i think Perine gets tripped too easy at times on hits below the knees
Knight tried to fly. Let’s not do that too much
quick!!!
Beautiful catch!
awesome throw awesomer grab
I love that word
Boom
Soon
BOOMER
SOONER!!!
Sooner!
BIG catch for that kid- maybe it’ll shake the question marks bouncing around in his head-
And we have a new Sooner star. Cant teach his separation skills, Quick. What a career he will have.
That TK Hurdle. Damn.
This the game that Quick turns into a star?
Quick is good. That is all
nice job gastellum
Good coverage.
We really need Quick the rest of the year
Gastellum is one of my favorite Sooners
throw them turds around
Heck yeah! Let’s go D!
anyone like these uni’s?
They look nice.
love the helmet to be honest, and i like the Oklahoma on the jersey
Bring the pain
x10000
the wood
wind messing up shotgun snaps! hahahahah how about pressure my man. lol jeez. Glad other commentator called him on it..
quit cheating
pick route!!!!
There we go!
OU d showing some swagger.
smart by zack. go hit the guy that’s trying to pick to make sure you get the call
Not getting away with those this time, Baylor.
Briles pissed about that call, but man, wr was just blocking. so obvious.
Briles already going ape and OU is just getting warmed up.
2nd TO by BU? hmmm taking notes from OUr staff from earlier in the year?
It’s early but I’m liking the trend I’m seeing.
Does anyone else get the willys when we drop 8 ??!?
everytime
YES…… I sit on the edge of my seat
knuckle up!
dadgum ankle tackles
Gahh so close to breaking free!
that is a BAADDDDD man
Ford has such a quick cut. Barely saw that he did.
Awesome catch!
Neal has Jaz Reynolds in him, great catches, but can drop the ez ones
who was saying he can’t throw?
depends on the game 🙂 he has been shaky at times to be honest
i’ll give you that, but getting him comfy on the run out of the pocket he’s $
agreed
Tweren’t me.
Blake Bell time
BEAUTIFUL throw!
OLine is dominating right now
Dang, they are dropping fast for BU.
BU confidence waning, both sides of the ball
Yessir.
Trevor gets so danged excited…
WAS>WIDE>OPEN…..smh
i jinxed him….sorry
Made up for it. There are bad throws but he’s adjusting right after the series. I like the kids drive to shake that
fade
awesome blitz pickup
You type everything I say. It’s uncanny.
these guys have taught us well. look for things you might not normally see on 1st viewing…and great minds and stuff
^^This. I’ve learned SO much more about football than I ever thought possible.
wow… bullet
Heck yeah! Neal is stepping up! Great throw by Trev, too!
THIS.IS.OKLAHOMA
SCREW BAYLOR
We finally look excited.
SCREW PETTY
Trevor seems to be at his best when he is under pressure. His inconsistency is maddening though. He dropped two dimes on that drive that were things of beauty, but that easy throw to Bell was gawdawful
INTO the wind
OUr team plays in Oklahoma there is always wind….
just one of those kids that you can’t give a wide open 3 to. too much time to think about and miss instead of read and react
and that’s not necessarily a bad thing
He missed one pass and you’re gonna call him inconsistent? Sorry, I’m not buying it. He should be 80% if they don’t drop the ones that him them in the hands.
It’s not like he’s been nails all year. He’s shown his inconsistency through several outings.
He hasn’t been perfect but imho, he’s been waaay more accurate than most folks think. Virtually all of the missed throws have been drops or incorrect routes by the receivers. Or passes like the one to Quick where he was held after the ball was in the air and he ends up half a step short to get to the ball.
Certainly possible. The point I really wanted to make was how nicely he threw balls when under pressure.
That was just brain dead.
well, except for the interceptions.
SCREW SHAWN OAKMAN
I guess he isn’t ready for OU.
HA!
As he will ever be.
Am I the only one who wants the color guy to just stfu??
Yes, please!
ain’t that harrington? maybe he doesn’t like us cause he knows we woulda beat his boys at their place if it wasn’t for ref collusion. that 3rd and 21 he said the kid has to make the catch to pick up the 1st….he was still fairly short and would have needed a pretty good push….all that to say this. yes he does need to
Mute it and listen to the radio
I hear you….thought the same thing….but this game is pathetic
Total Yards 76 to 130 OU
Long way to go, so I suppose it’s too early to rest my case…:) Keith Ford looks GREAT. Great blitz pickup. Trevor is outstanding! Vaulting, keeping, and has made some unbelievable throws, and now that the receivers are getting open and hanging on to the ball the pass game is rolling. Trevor’s got Toby delaying his call as to whether it’s a handoff or not, now. The defense is all over Petty. 2 scores into the wind! Pretty decent 1st Q.
Running up the middle should be productive for us today.
Come on D!
Grrr…
Something’s wrong. We’re 17 minutes into the game and haven’t used a TO yet. Not even on defense.
Shhhh!!! 🙂
We should have used one instead of 12 men on the field
Each TO is only worth 8 quatloos, I use them.
thats alright. You know what. I think both teams should do this today. Go for 4th downs all game. why not. Damn bears. lol
Shooting ourselves in the foot…
too easy…
How does deep coverage get beat deep?
no rush….
Against crossing routes and comebacks, yeah. Not an excuse for a guy just running straight down the field.
secondary does not hold up well for > 3 seconds
A free release.
busted assignment, keep your feet Hayes
beware the onside kick
Never expected a shutout.
Need to answer.
I like our prospects here, but after that play I would just remind folks that everybody thought Baylor was out of the game by half when they played TCU. And we all know how that turned out. Gotta keep our foot on the gas.
yep, just like Dusty said (or was it Teddy?)
for the O and the D…
No press coverage. 2 blown coverages on successive plays = 6.
I guess that is why we play corners so far off.
getting beat while playing aggressive D is somewhat ok, but while playing passive no excuse
HAVE to get a pass rush! Can’t let him get comfortable
Just need the offense to keep rolling now I trust mike to make some adjustments at halftime so if we go in with a lead then I expect we will see a victory.
Run it down their throats
We should employ a little person with a sawed-off broom handle about 2 feet long, and he should follow Mike Stoops around. Every time he calls for 3 rushing the passer, this person should whack Mike repeatedly in the shins until he apologizes.
Im picturing this and cracking up. thank you. lol
Quick is going to be a stud!
Baylor starting to stunt on D, bringing backers up the middle- hope we can adjust w/o resorting to poorly spent TO’s
or holding.
time for some play action
or not….
who is #2? injured
J. Wilson.
I hope Wilson didn’t break his hand..
Man, Knight. Got. Swallowed.
welp…..
Trevor…
Bad Trevor that time, that was just bad….
suck
Brain. Dead. Throw. Happens at LEAST once a game.
Well, unfortunately this is Knights game and it will probably never change. He just doesn’t know how to read a defense and see the field. Also he needs to run with authority!
I m going need more coffee…err rum….er pirate coffee?
sounds tasty
Thanks a lot Knight.
uhhhhh
Ross to the house
Linebacker literally never moved….
not agression is the hallmark of LB corps,,,striker excluded
Well now. Got to get some rhythm back. Lets go O!
Well, I spoke to soon. Everything right to everything wrong… Come on Sooners settle down.
Seriously why don’t they use Knights athleticism? I would tell him to run like HELL every 2-3 plays!
they’re stopping that play. He was tackled for a loss the last couple of times.
they have. play action seems to be working though, just got to connect.
And theres the play action!! nice throw there.
just having the option to
Highs and lows…
THIS TEAM IS SO FRUSTRATING!
Interception = Suck. But, its not like Baylor is a slouch..
I just don’t know if I can bear the roller coaster ride today
drink
RUM!
OK TK9 on crossing routes over the middle look for LB… now knuckle up!
YES! There’s good Trevor!
Ford please
QUICKER!!!!!!
NO LINEBACKER THERE!!!
LOL Nice!
Good throw and that’s a TD
that was caught in stride
What? No it wasn’t Quick had to slow down to catch that.
No int and + yards i’ll take it right now
I hate the pistol offense.
seems to slow everything down..or is that JH?
A power running team needs to be under center., Unfortunately high schools don’t do that anymore.
I’m ready to see a new QB, Trevor CAN be good, but for whatever reason he just cannot read defenses. He has not learned how to look of receivers and just isnt consistent enough to be the starting QB for a team like OU.
Blake Bell is not better and I don’t know who else we have
Based on what? Bell was extremely more consistent than Knight. The point is Knight is NOT good enough to be starting for OU and I’m not saying Bell is. But the season for argument sake is over as far as a NC, so lets see and start to develop these younger guys. Can’t be any worse than 2-3 guaranteed picks a game from Trevor.
grrr Fade Routes….
yeah, wind and fade….
If it comes down to Moneycutt………
I dont get it…maybe I’m just naive and dont realize how often linemen get away with holding. but to me, holding is just way too costly to even try to get with it. Why not just see if your back can get the yards without you holding?
That is a catch]
that’s a first down, whoops. edit.
RB coming out of the backfield was wide open
That’s what’s so frustrating about Trevor, he picks who he’s gonna throw to before they line up. No matter what the coverage is like, he WILL eye that receiver down and throw him the ball.
nice extension of play there. thought he had that one.
he did have it.
did not complete when went out of bounds…
should be overturned. isnt “completion of catch” only NFL?
EDIT: guess its part of college too..
key words “should be”. This is OU, won’t be
it is beyond me why people don’t give Trevor as much grief as they gave Landry…Landry was way better than Knight and people acted like he was as bad as Bomar
great play by Trevor on that one either way.
THAT was a pass. Neal just couldn’t hold it long enough.
damn…
Too bad. the long pass was fine with a 25 mi per hour gusting wind at his back…
!@#$%^ KSU game…..
That one is going to hurt…
WTF? is Hunnicut ruined?
DiCarlo 2.0?
Oh man, I forgot about that dude.
Honeycutt is done
not
I dont know man. His confidence might just be gone. Dude has to be feeling A TON of pressure in his head. especially now.
It’s just a tad windy out there… rewind it and watch the ball immediately get pushed by the wind
wind at his back on that one though..
though I guess that could still push it..
he has missed too many important field goals, you can’t take those back
nature of the position
well i called it
our kicker is done…
We need to go to the soccer team and find somebody who can kick.
Hope is just a fluke kick.
I’m fearing this might becoming a trend with him. Confidence not there.
We should just go for it on 4th down, no point in missing a kick
Kid gloves come off on Honeycutt got to make those
I don’t know where you have been. Have the kid gloves been on?
By stoops yes
nice
D stepping up!
BS call by the ref
HOW is that roughing? really!!??
Wow…
Losing is one thing…. Self destruction is another
ref-aided
can we cuss on this board? 😉
F no
someone answer I am dying here
Oh Sanchez, can you pleassssseee get us a pick 6!?
f baylor
Why are we so far off their WRs!!!
Nice 8 yard cushion
It’s infuriating..
!@#$%^
How can you play 10 yards off on 4th down?
rush three, and give them 7 yards off the line for the receivers
Our coaches will never learn
the coaches are afraid of getting burned deep and instead are bleeding to death on the shorter passes.
WTF are we doing 7 yards off on timing throws?????
We are absolutely GIVING them 7 yards a catch. Not even trying to stop them
That’s got to be close to 15 yards the Baylor wide receivers have between them and our DBs. I just don’t understand why Stoops plays our secondary soooo far off the receivers.
What is Mike Stoops thinking..
holy cow… coaching is stellar
it’s like they don’t have specific packages they’re going with, just making it up as they go along… 10 men on the field? 12 men on the field? “OK, Jimmy, run out there and replace Johnny AND Stevie.”
Definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
Baylor playing to WIN, OU playing not to lose……story of the season so far
this is just Wrong, you cant play that far off, they will destroy us the whole game
FIFY : this is just Wrong, you cant play that far off, they will destroy us the whole season
Between HUYA mistakes and Mike Stoops giving huge cushions on 4th down timing throws, we have no chance.
way too many mistakes. But the refs are helping Baylor big time. That should have been a 5 ydf penalty instead of 15 on the kick. And their key play on that drive was an illegal formation, should have been our ball.
Where’s that dude to whack M Stoops in the shins? He played off that whole &%$#@ng drive!!
f f
shut up mike
wow LB non existent….
Mike should be yelling at himself…
I hope somebody hires Mike Stoops in the offseason
Corners should line up in the 3rd row here
They probably guard the end line
Dog doo we play off coverage on 4th and 4
We are so scared of getting beat deep we give up. We did the same thing against K-state
At least make em earn it though
That is what I am saying. I 4th and three they aren’t going to go deep anyways.
Exactly, force Petty to make a great throw 20-30 yards down field. He won’t hit them all. Give him a five yard, wide open throw and he’ll hit it 99 times out of 100.
I’m going to write some one a letter about this bullshit!!! It can’t just be us that sees this not working every damn time!!!
Just another game OU is getting out coached. Maybe when stoops and co turns 65 they’ll be able to coach as good a Briles and Snider!!
!@#$%
I have trying NOT to say this the whole season because I have so much respect for both Stoops brothers but a lot of our problems this year is solely based on coaching. Our defensive scheme with this 10 yard cushion crap. Our horrible offensive play calling at times. Our inability to have right number of players on the field after a time out is nothing but BAD coaching. I have to say it but I am ready to see a new fresh leader co e to OU and do what the this talent ridden team is capable of.
pretty much but, it’ll be attributed to execution. I’ll offer that coaches ALSO need to “execute”.
Don’t understand all the snark and sniping in this thread.
A bad throw by Knight and a fluke personal foul.
This game is far from over.
Game is within reach but hey, bad calls by the ref and questionable coaching are prob good reasons.
I see player execution as a bigger problem than coaching.
player execution is a product of coaching
Not entirely.
there is a symbiotic relationship though
Very.
did you expect to come to a game thread and not see people express their frustrations during a home game in which they’re losing? It’s part of it- same thing is going on in countless bars and even in the stands.
EasTex, agreed but OUr teamjsut gave up 24 at home…..in the first half
But what’s with all the sniping?
I don’t get it.
frustration
BOOOOOOOMER!
How about now?
I’m going to punch a bunny
I going to change undies at halftime. Need the lucky ones
ON that drive we looked like a MAC team
KST /TCU redux……………..
re-defining arm tackle
Got ’em on their heels. Let’s call timeout.
I’d laugh if it weren’t so f-ing sad.
As they should.
No field goal attempts.
This is the dumbest color man in the world
He has been a bit “not smart” today.
smh
Nice f’ing tackle 73
TK is not going to last the game….
WE are not that lucky
He’s not a good runner. Good at going straight. Horrible at cuts.
Just a bad time for one. Could have gotten 8 more yards and stopped the clock if he just out-runs that dude to the sideline.
Yea, bad cut there.
missed that throw. damn.
happy feet…
Embarrassing
Bob Stoops needs to go into halftime and do some yelling….
At Mike Stoops.
Trevor is 9 for 19. Anyone still want to say he isn’t inconsistent? The throws he’s missing are the easiest to make.
suit up
What is inconsistent? He does this every week.
I love Trevor Knight. That being said, I hate having a QB that makes as many horrible plays as great ones.
So, two more potential TD’s if not for 1 overthrow, 1 underthrow. Come on KNight!!
run
Screw this, this thread should be renamed the ‘B***h and Moan’ thread.
Later.
A lot of football to be played. OU needs to play better.
Every thread is like that it seems, sometimes I can’t stand the negativity.
just frustration my man, and seems we having some younger bucks commenting, and the frustration is warranted imho
If we were rational people we wouldn’t be here.
This is what fans do.
like i said below- part of it. the bars and the stands are full of the same conversations for sure.
Sorry EasTex, but we are making horrible mistakes and the sideline coaching makes me crazy.
It’s all good EasTex, everyone’s just frustrated and it’s warranted. As far as being negative, it could be much worse.
and it has been in he past, this is fairly mild in comparison
Dave Wannstadt is not very good on tv.
but he was right
can see your point. was hard to see his with his delivery though..
Announcers are idiots usually, however they are right on the money on their convo about the game.
It’s not over but OU must get Baylor off the field and stop making mental mistakes. The offense needs to run more.
I’m interested to see if they come out angry and respond.
Trying not to sound negative, so i will pose a question. Which team makes the second half adjustments ?
Both
let me clarify, effective second halk adjustments?
It looks like Baylor did
only one team needs to make adjustments
….tfb might want to get that 2nd server hooked up……
This first drive is going to be uber important.
no points for the bad guys would be nice for sure
BU is stronger on both sides of the ball than ISU and it shows so far, protect your home field boys
What get’s me is, it looks like what OU did to ISU, OU just threw it out the window.
All I want him to do is not play 10 yards off on 3rd and 4th down.
Im with you there, however it may be that he doesn’t trust the corners to turn and cut quick enough on the receivers. Zack I think is able, but not sure about the other side. Could be why the backup CB was in?
backup CB was in because Wilson had to go to the locker room to get his hand checked out.
ahh
this is my biggest problem lets at least press every now n then
I have faith in the D to adjust, the O…well not so much
What does offense say ” TK, dont throw picks, and get more accurate.” lol
sad but true 🙂
So what happened to that diamond triple option from last week?
FUJH
Well then how about this: 14 of Baylor’s points were absolute gifts. TK9’s all-but-pick 6 and the atrocious(sorry if that’s too negative but it’s true) defensive play calls on the last drive. If OU adjusts and can get a stop to start the 3rd we can get back in this. Ford and Knight are averaging over 5 ypc running the ball. Pound the rock, give TK reasonable distances on 3rd and play tough on D and it’s possible. We can’t GIVE BU anymore points though.
agreed on points, i have uneasy feeling with O at this time.
They have tried at least twice that I recall, and Knight was inaccurate on both… But you’re right, it sure as hell is open.
Open has not equated to completion, hence the predicament
I didn’t see those 2 as far as make it look like knight is running. We know the officials will let ineligible receivers run up and down the field.
Oh okay, you mean where he fake runs, but pulls up to throw. I think they ran them, but he didnt actually “fake run.” or maybe it was just a normal play action on the option. Either way, they’re open and we need to hit them!! lol
This is why I hate the pistol. We should run it down their throats, but you can’t do that out of the pistol.
Spring ball should be all about putting the QB under center. The Pistol should be used occasionally, but not a base offense.
AAAHHHHHHHHH!!!
you about summed it up, add in some wtf comments in regards to O execution and you are caught up
I rest my case. Just ridiculous!! Even the announcers and halftime guys were all over it. It’s kind boggeling.
Mike Reed that is totally correct can we press cover every now n then at least on a 3rd n 5..i mean are we playing for the next set of downs
Baylor is not the juggernaut they’re billed to be- they’re very, very beatable and we are still OU, at home.
Damn straight!
Ha, I was actually going to post that same exact thing. Damn straight!
And another thing- scrap the alternate uni’s, forever.
Kyle Allen is Aggie QB.
I hope he is thinking “I can start next year.”
Really need a big play on D. Pick 6 or stip n score. Something.
Seems like its been a while since we’ve had a turnover. maybe last week, I dunno, but it feels like its been some time..
Oh look, there’s another 7 yards. Your’e welcome.
RE: Negative Comments/Feeling of the thread
We are passionate fan base for sure, you will get praised when you play with fire and passion, and you will raked over the coals when you play uninspired, mistake filled, passive, general terrible play. Time play ball…. BOOMER!
yep
Holy Crap, Mike!!! Turn the page!!
TK has got to learn to look off of the receiver all of his pick 6 come when he does not survey the field and stares down receivers
Please, for the love of God, cover the wide receivers.
…
Why all the cushion
Nice half time adjustments
that’s ridiculous, fire Mike Stoops
This is all coaching. Every bit of these last two drives.
It’s as simple as this. The coaches don’t trust the db’s to play press. Too much respect for the speed of BU receivers.
Play-by-Play guy…..”At some point you have to make an adjustment in your coverage”.
” it looks like 7 on 7″
Come on it is defense not kick return
Gift. Absolute gift.
How much does this hurt recruiting
The booing or the coaching?
JY, this why taco tech can out recruit us as of late….the boys had some mojo coming out last season and has coached it down to a miniscule level….
I’m sure Haughton is impressed right about now
Take away Mike Stoops headset
I dont normally agree with this, but I am super glad the crowd is booing the cushion the Sooners are giving them. GIVING THEM!!!!!!!!!
……….. there is not enough rum in the house, store, county…….
I can’t WAIT for the Monday presser when Stoops talks about execution. SMDH.
OU defense needs to change its panties. Mike stoops… You’re strategy sucks ass.
I think it’s hard to play in a more stupid way than our D does right now
was julian getting into it with Mike on the sideline?
And Bob.
Because Wilson is smart enough to see his coaches have not one freaking clue about what to do
lol
I actually think that might be the worst thing that could happen..players not believing in the coaches enough to openly question them is going to be BAD for recruiting
Somebody needs to get in their faces.
probably upset that he is getting chewed for not making plays, when they keep forcing him into soft coverage. Cant cover the quick pass from 7-10 yards off…
Yes. And I LOVE it!
Julian Wilson needs to take a seat. And Mike needs slapped for that crap shoot of a defense. This is absolutely sad.
Yep. OU defense is getting abused.
Mike is not even giving the players a chance to make a play.
No more field goals, no more punts. We are in fourth down territory from the kickoff
I’ll bet the recruits in attendance are enjoying this.
The fans are booing our defense! Haven’t heard that since Blake was the coach!
They should do more of it.
And louder!!!!
Has striker been platying coverage this whole game? Feels like it….
Looks like Mike took South Carolina’s defensive game plan from their game against A&M earlier this season.
nice spot
Ridiculous spot.
OU is going to have a sweet comeback.
I will have a double of whatever you’re drinking! 😉
Probly not
what channel?
We need to go for it
This sucks…
Oh goody. OU’s back on D.
What was up with that spot on fords run
40 yard punt with the wind
Captain obvious statement: any score here and OUr boys are done for, and any hopes of positive recruiting mojo is gone…..
Guess I will Get some work done today.
only OU can make semi-good players look like nfl prospects! JEEHOUSEFERS PLAY LIKE YOU WANT TO WIN!!!!!!!!
Either OU defense gets a stop or its time for me to go beat up the mrs to get my mind off this game. In the bed, not Ray rice style btw.
Bob Stoops needs to start coaching like his job is on the line, because it should be.
He doesn’t care about critics, he knows he’s safe.
The Baptist are going to have to gift wrap a chance for a comeback
And that’s why we play off
So he can get run by? Playing off did nothing to prevent that.
Been a long time since memorial stadium sounded like that, 80k is fed up with the coaches also!!!
Baylor ran the same play straight down the field with corners playing off 7 to 10 yards ..why are we playing off in the red zone….this is easily the worst D play calling i can remember from M Stoops very very bad
It is the exact play calling for the whole year.
NO different than K-State
That still wasn’t tight coverage
Wilson needs to rename himself butter or toast
Eric Bassey redux
This game got so out of hand…
Until there is a coaching change this is what we are stuck with!
Parker wants to hit!
Dumbfounded…
Can we just jailbreak blitz every play!??!?!? ugh……
I give up
Three weeks of prep, huh?
Yea. BS.
What good does it do to play press coverage and not hit the receiver at the LOS?
i know, free release is a killer
Mike Stoops needs to be gone, right now. Not one more minute of coaching.
Anyone posting here from the stands?
Fans have been coached completely out of this one. They’re not even booing now. just silent. stunned. fed up.
Maybe time to scrap the 3-4.
Start scripting Monday’s presser now…
Wont matter. No one will press him on any issue, everything will be execution related, and wait, the “fans suck.” What I’m starting to see is, that Sooner Nation can see the writing on the wall, but the coaches cannot.
Definition of arrogance.
Coaches could certainly afford to eat some ‘humble pie.’
I’d love to know what JY, SK and Jordan are thinking right now.
Sucks when the only pleasure I get from college fotball these days is to watch Texass lose.
Who’s ready for some sooner basketball!!!!!!
Absolutely embarrassing
Narramore……..OU knows it can beat a mediocre team ; it also knows it can’t beat a good team .
Embarassed, Despondent, Apathetic. Look like dark 90’s all over again….
Stoops does not want fan apathy- some humility on his part would go a LONG way.
Cant wait to hear Bobby blame this on the players. Absolutely disgusting watching this game. Theres no fire anywhere.
Fire. Man I miss teams that play with fire.
Poor execution. I can hear it already.
http://twitter.com/intent/retweet?tweet_id=531165648622080000
The OU Staff definately has a problem staying with certain players to long…Julian Wilson should of been pulled …although him pressing coverage is not his call…Mike Stoops has completely called a bad game
And BS stands for… ?
Barry Switzer?
The team has given up on the coaches and themselves….
Stoops needs to apologize to Barry and Bud..
Complacent
For becoming the all-time winning coach at OU?
And the all-time loosing
Nice run there.
Nice run Ross! Hope we can score from the 10…
Well, there’s a good play!
Problem I have is that we aren’t giving these kids a shot at reaching their potential.
Ditto
Our corners/safeties don’t have the speed to match Baylor wrs.
Mismatch we lose
But I would rather them press and get in their face and fight and get beat rather be passive and let them walk all over us.
http://twitter.com/Jake_Trotter/status/531165648622080000
Thank God somebody is saying it.
We should hire him as a coach.
Now we’re talking…….might be to late. Don’t understand game plan.
http://twitter.com/BPrzybylo/status/531165503356547074
We can’t attempt a field goal, I don’t care if it is 4th and 10.
About the time for #79 to hold
omg…
Offense is wearing panties too!
How do you allow that penetration on short yardage every. Single. Time?
3rd and short with Ross??????
Wow. JH back to predictability.
I don’t know how this sounds, but this squad looks like the Longhorns squad the last couple of years of Mack Browns term.
Pathetic.
Well….. Um….. Sure
fans leaving the stands yet?
Recruits decommitting? mass txfers? this is not a good day
need a mic in the post-game locker room
And THAT is why i was pissed when Ross got tripped up.
you CANNOT run a power offense, WITHOUT a power formation. How many times does JH and BOB have to see this play fail?
One of the best statements made of the day
We need to be under center to run a power running game.
Third and 1, three defenders in the backfield. we missed some blocks.
Bob Stoops = Mack Brown 2.0
Sad. Sad. Sad. Sad. Sad.
Unbelievable…… We can’t get one yard?
We havent been able to get one yard when it mattered in 10 years.
So much more parity in big 12 now.
It isn’t ruled by OU and Texas anymore.
Jordan Thomas looks promising as a corner for the future.
You call it parity, I call it as we have WAY too much talent to be in this position. COACHING.
Parity had nothing to do with having a 1st and 10 at the BU 11 and coming away with a big fat ZERO.
Baylor is the monkey and OU is the football they’re fcking.
I’m officially on the “FIRE JOSH HEUPEL” train!!!! He freakin’ sux!!!!!!
Hook that up to the Fire Mike Stoops train and I am with you.,
You got it, man Choo choo!!!
The entire staff has to be looked, with the exception of Gundy at this time. I have not been on the fire BS/MS train till today……
I am with you…today was my caving point. I am just speechless.
Corners in their face! Make them earn it.
wow…not sure I can take anymore this season…getting your ass kicked at home, this is on the coaches.
But I dont.
Whoever is the recruiting coordinator needs to be gone also.,
So uh…was this Baylor’s recruiting weekend or OU’s?
This has the makings of massive implosion. 1-2 finish? Hostile locker room environment?
Mediocrity at it’s best.
wonder how far our CB will play off this series…taking all bets i say 8 yards
Maybe prevent defense…
They wait to do that on third and 3
Wilson benched?
He should be
Coaches aren’t using him right.
Guy should stay at NB and let Austin or Thomas be CB. He’s been a liability all year.
this….he’s big and physical, get him up in the face of the wr and jam him to throw off the rhythm a bit….it’s not rocket surgery!
Yes!!
He was playing tight on a big pass play on Baylor’s last drive. Nearly cost us a TD. I like him, but his mind’s not right. Coaches called a horrible game, and now he’s pissed. Hard to play mad.
no he was NOT playing tight…he gave coleman an 8 yard cushion and coleman still blazed by him like he wasn’t even there.
Well, he’s been getting beat. If he can’t play focused, then he needs to sit. But, yes, the coaches have certainly not helped him.
So in order for us to get a stop, Baylor had to screw up. Must’ve been Stoops plan all along.
Why punt???
mercy
JC/BS/MS to Mich?
FUJH to SMU ?
Kish to nowhere?
Wow …..just wow
Fowler still a douche. Just like last year.
Chris fowler can go pound sand
And to all that ask “who would you choose to replace Stoops?” I say, does it matter? Can’t tell me there isn’t some one out there like Stoops 1998 style.
I’ll keep rooting like I did in the 90’s and like I always have, but this is depressing as hell.
Agreed, but it hurts my soul to see this kind of play
Ok so BS revamped the assistant coached etc a bit ago, and now we have this ….. I truly do not know how far the program has to fall before a change is made at the top…..
Ace……….there are not going to be any changes. Stoops has the salary he wants, the assistants have cushy salaries, and all is well in Bob Stoopsland.
hhmm anyone notice everytime we et positive yards a baylor player gets hurt wth is up with that
We got the wrong coach from k-state, Snyder would’ve won more than 1 NC by now.
We have only faced three good teams this year and we have been more talented and got outcoached in every one.l
Are we sure we have more talent?
On a par with at the very least
I think so. I really do.
No we don’t have much more talent.
We won’t dominate the big 12 like we have in years past.
Coaching has improved drastically. Art briles, snyder (retirement???), Patterson has his offense finally.
I’m actually embarrassed for OU.
With all the negative comments on here, I would be embarrassed for OU also.
Coaching. Coaching. Coaching. Well, except for the TK9 weekly pick 6.
I’m always happy to watch football and never embarrassed to be a Sooner! OUr coaching staff has been really disappointing tho.
Seems like it is both coaching and players today. Looks like all three phases are being taken to the woodshed.
Ed, correct it was all around loss by everyone today. The staff and players are at odds (re: wilson back and forth MS/BS today). Think the fans here are expecting the usual platitudes from the staff, and kind of forsee the same product on the field for upcoming games. That kind of apathy is a cancer
Willams 3 costly holding penalties. Seniors aren’t shining. Money-choke, Williams, Wilson
Money-choke lol
I’m sick of hearing how great this line is, never get a push when needed and are giving up a ton of yardage in penalties today.
I’m so dumbfounded. Never in my life did I think OU Would lose to a TCu Baylor and Kst in same year…
Someone look that up.. Has that happened??
Ha…It’s definitely hard on the stomach, isn’t it.
Never thought I’d see the day
Never happened before this year. Have lost to Baylor and KSU in the same season in 2012, but beat TCU
We still have to go for it.
Dumb ass call
Even Joy f’ing Harrington is making sense now……..oh hell
You are in a bad place.:)
indeed!
Put in a different QB ! Seriously have the balls and show the players we want to win
Well, one things for sure: Something needs to change.
Dude…. You make sense but you are bumming me out!
Sorry. I just read all the comments here calling for JH’s job, and both Stoops’ job, and that isn’t going to happen.
People are going to vent, and be unhappy, but ultimately it will come down to Bob’s decisions. Would not put it past him to move forward without JH next year. Losing like this at home is extremely disappointing, but it’s players and coaches, not just the coaches.
And what about the other realities? Just ignore them?
What other realities?
I know what you are saying that is part of the problem is that BS holds the cards and it will have to be him to make any/all changes….
I bet Switzer felt the same way
Yeah, he’s bought himself a year or two of good will.
Living on past success at this point.
pretty on point….kind like Michigan,VT, Georgia, etc.
Sooo…What’s everyone doing with the rest of their weekend?
Not watching football.
rum..more rum
The gf offered a pity BJ. Think I’ll take her up on that.
well thats a win.
Every time.
You should make TU your new favorite team
Dustin………….you’re lucky. She got any friends available ??????
and not watching any more games today that’s for sure….
Shelby………..trying to figure out WHY the Sooners play so poorly in the most important games and reading the national press laughing at OU’s ineptitude.
I’m not even looking forward to next season
Ready for this season to end, that’s for sure.
Yep
There go the shotguns. Do you think they’re shooting at the coaches?
Petty/Oakman were right…..
Well I’m not predicting any commitments today. If I had to guess I would say a couple decommit after today.
I wouldn’t blame any of them, either. I’d decommit.
Maybe some OU fans should decommit also, SMH
What are you trying to say?
I think it’s clear what he is trying to say.
I’m just trying to figure out if he’s taking a dig at me, which is why I asked for an elaboration.
Lol settle down, bud. I’m as true as a Sooner fan gets. I didn’t put down the players nor the team, I know they’re pissed.
fair enough
Hey, we’re both sooner fans, so Cheers, even though this has been a rough game.
More than rough…….embarrassing.
Been there for the dark days and the good, still a fan..but when the fan base turns apathetic (which it will) it is no bueno
Zack………..who could blame them ??? I would expect danley to go SEC .
I don’t blame them. I can’t recommend this coaching staff over the ones in the sec.
Unless I’m a huge ou fan I’m not going to this team.
I’m in Baylor offense or tcu defense .
Texas a&m in sec will always be a factor. ( I know they suck but sec)
This really smells……..something not right with coaching staff. Would like to hear Barry’s thoughts on all this.
First time Ive ever said this. But its time for some new blood in the OU program. This team has become stale, predictable, and soft. Ive never been on the fire Bob train, but this is sad. This team looks lost out there.
I don’t think next year we are going to fair any better…
So let’s win our Alamo bowl or whatever this year.
Birddawg……………this team needs to stay for the holidays, forsake a meaningless bowl game, hit the weight room, and try to become ready to play in 2015.
Boo these guys.
Well, but, we ran the ball 4 straight times when everyone was expecting us too!! lol
Does he not remember last week?
Exactly. Where the hell is that QB keeper out of the diamond??
I swear these guys out think themselves!!
Face facts, OU is the old guard, and the old gaurd d is getting hosed trying to rely on past accomplishments as a program will render OUr team mediocre at best
For all those who think bob can’t be fired, when the board of regents get tired of what’s being put out for public display this show will end.
Luckily, the Board isn’t as shortsighted as the fan base.
the Fan base is becoming apathetic which is detrimental no matter how you slice it
wont believe it till i see it however
We can lose out and get high draft pick…..oh wait
I need super k, JY, and Jordan to educate me why we this happened… Like soon…
Pretty obvious
Ego, failure to adjust, etc etc…. out classed on the field is the end result
One QB is completing better than 70% of his pass attempts ; the other 44% . One guy is keeping drives alive ; one isn’t….
To be fair, Petty really hasn’t had to do much. All timing routes against the D’s cushion. That doesn’t excuse Trevor’s play though.
Gotta love Billy Sims.
Nicest guy I’ve ever met
At least they were respectful and only kicked the pitty field goal on us.
won’t be a pretty locker room
nor should it be
RBear……………….a total team effort. most likely will be laughing, listening to their MP3’s , and Bob will bemoan execution errors and how everything will improve next week .
well, mr dale, you took some crap on here but you turned out to be prophetic…….perhaps more than you even thought
Do you really think so? I don’t see it- I’m seeing some frustration on the part of the players- wouldn’t doubt the beginnings of a polarized team unless something big changes and I just don’t see it.
What in the world did the coaches do at half time? My guess is each player got chamomile and clove suppositories.
Just pull that Fat POS out!! Obviously his head is not in this today!!
I’m going to watch every min of this game.
still over ten minutes of this… sigh- put Cody in there for crying out loud
Interested to see how the players rebound from this game. The next few weeks will speak to the character of these young men. Hoping for a positive ending to this season.
Mop-up time.
The recruiting coordinators @ /TCU/BU/WV having to be loving this….oh hell Boomer! Sooner born and bred, there is no doubt about that.
So, I mean this in all seriousness. But, do we have to give C. Thomas a shot at QB now? Knight is apparently not going to be the answer.. Though as long as JH is calling plays not sure it will matter..
stop making sense 🙂
With the season being nearly over, it would take Knight getting hurt. I think the coaches are banking on Justice Hansen to be the QB of the future, so I don’t see them making any desperation move in inserting Thomas.
well, there ya go Mr prediction man
Man, that didn’t mean I wanted him to get hurt. 🙂 Sure hope he’s going to be okay.
well, would it make sense at all to burn hansens redshirt? and get him some playing time in these last few games..
The good news is that we will have the same team next year, without the super experienced, behemoth offensive line. Oh wait…
If we punt now than Stoops should not be allowed back in the locker room.
Welcome to the new era of sooner football
perfect…just perfect
Baylor showed us mercy by punting, and Knight merely repaid the courtesy of spotting them with even better field position.
Today sucked. But, alas, the sun shall rise tomorrow. Brush it off, Sooner Nation. Life goes on. BOOMER SOONER
Just because it has come up the last 10,000 times I don’t believe it. I am rooting for perpetual darkness.
To each, their own. 😉
The return of Satan? Enormous plagues sweeping the earth?
Yup, just another year. Oh well, we can still beat the snot out of Okie St.
Lets hope.
He really shouldn’t have been in at this point.
4th down and you can’t hold a block for 1 second?
Embarrasssing
Who’s your band wagon team for the rest of the year?
I’m rooting for KSU
Frogs
It would be kind of cool to see the new guys do something. I think they have the more complete team over KSU, but dang that Bill Snyder and his lucky windbreakers.
Nobody, I want everyone to lose. Lol
NO bueno there. Sure dont like to see anyone get hurt.
Injury added to insult!
What will it take for this team/coaching staff to realize what they have been doing the last few years is not going to win you championships or games against good teams?
Firings.
Of who realistically? The only one I can see them firing is Kish. The rest are either good recruiters (Montgomery, Bedenbaugh) or have been around forever and Stoops will be loyal to. Or he’s related to them.
Mike Stoops and Josh Heuple
Which are unrealistic in my opinion. He won’t fire either of them.
I agree, but than Bob Stoops needs to be on the hot seat next year.
And hire whom? Think with your brain. Who do you want to get to replace him? C’mon, really – who?
Seriously man, really…put it down. Meth is bad, mmmmkay?
and we are the new texsa….never want to see a player hurt though. take care all ….outta here
Bunch of bully’s !!!
We’re gonna need some nasty ourselves to get this team back to winning. Now 4th qt QB jobs maybe not but we need some attitude back.
Nasty comes from a few good leaders, and coaching. Man, I sure thought we had that back early in the year..
I’ll say it again, I’m sick of hearing that this o-line is good. If TV announcers want to describe the line they can just say “they’re big.”
Kind of puts it all in perspective- prayers to TK.
Kind of looked like the neck to me.
Well…. I guess Oakman was right…
I also think he was late on a hit on a guy that was already on the ground with his 270 pounds.
I sure hope TK is ok. Hate to see this
The posters over at BC are asking the very same questions we are asking, albeit with a lot more glee. They are calling a big recruiting gain from this as well. Not really that important, just found it interesting that we aren’t making this stuff up. Everyone is watching.
Seeing the obvious
…to everyone but those to whom it should matter.
pride
Is this what has become of OU? No fire at all; and that comes from the coaches!!!!
the era of mediocrity continues…
Trevor Knight=JW Walsh
Yep, just glad I didn’t make the drive, as soon as more people stay home rather than go things will happen
Yup. Every year out of college, I care less and less. I obviously love my Sooners, but perspective…
I’ve been out since 1985, and for true fans, it doesn’t get any easier.
Get off your high horse with that “true fan” talk. Come visit me in the emergency department and you might think differently.
yep.
Sports provides us an outlet for pent up frustrations in our day-to-day lives, a chance to cheer or vent but we have to guard against becoming too emotionally invested for sure. Keep things in perspective and attend to what truly deserves our attention.
Still sux though 😉
Post of the day RBear.
Continued mistakes don’t get corrected. Players that make mistakes don’t get pulled. Not sure why.
Julian was replaced.
I’m wondering if that was part disciplinary for yelling at coaches though. He played some after that but they deserved it. Wilson had a good view of their terrible scheme to start the second half. He should’ve been more physical and pressed but the scheme wasn’t set up for anything but allowing Baylor to score.
Parker started instead of Thomas.
Time for some Cody Thomas….why not?
Okay, who else needs to sub in……..
Smith!
50 is a given, can they hit 60?
I guess I have to take back all the times I made fun of Bryce Petty; it would seem we were the team that wasn’t ready.
But, we worked on them for 3 weeks.
Which is sad, if true.
absolutely.
1ST. Burn the new unis. 2nd. Ask Mike if he’s still a defensive Guru? 3rd kick Jfh ass!
the new unis didnt have anything to do with this loss.
pretty sure that was a tongue in cheek comment
whoops. comment, meet beer intake, and response.
Absolutely not. I love the new uni’s. Especially the “OKLAHOMA” on the chest. Just freaking play like it!!!!!!
I f-ing hate the unis. We are OU, NOT Oregon and certainly not OSU. We have tradition, if that isn’t good enough for the players then coaches aren’t doing enough to sell the brand!
Not sure if I’m more embarrassed or more disappointed.
Maybe it’s because it’s Baylor and I’m not used to them being good. But this is horrible.
45 straight BU points
Story of the game
I could have done without that stat.
sorry but it is what it is- sure hope Bob doesn’t blow it off
“players got to make plays.”
…never thought I’d live to see this stat…….so far, 45 unanswered pts IN norman…
Mack Brown
we must find a trigger man and an OC that will work to his strengths
So, somebody’s head need to roll after this debacle? I know B Stoops doesn’t have the balls to fire Mike or Hype but this is unacceptable.
mike stoops has to find corners that he trusts to play man coverage
kind of hard to recruit that with this product on the field
I don’t think that’s how it works.
Kids will look at this and say, “Hey, I can play better than that, I have a chance to get on the field early since I am better than those guys.”
I don’t want anyone to mention this one.
nah, i’ll be wearing my OU Hockey hoodie
Ha, good plan
Baylor sux.
Not today, that be on our coaches
BAYLOR SUCKS
Oh, I wish they did. Combo of BU being good, and this OU team being pretty poor.
Baylor Sux though. lol
Never thought Baylor would come to Norman and be up enough to play the second teamer.
Can we push someone backwards when we tackle? Please?
Well this sucked, but all the heartbreak is worth it when we do win, or have great seasons. So there’s that.
excellent radio call by TRow there
So far today Stoops lost the home crowd, lost his team(not saying for good, but he certainly lost their effort today), lost his starting QB, probably lost some recruits, lost the mystique of the OU home field advantage, and gave up 45 unanswered points. Did I miss anything?
We lost the game.
Lost his BALLS.
nope your right on point on all accounts.
This statement makes me lose my lunch. Good thing my lunch was liquid and I have more.
“Toby, I’ll get you an update on TK after this play here..” Toby says, “psshh, go for it. Who cares about this play!” ha!
nm
Baylor has beaten OU 3 out of last 4 years. WHAT the FUDGE!@
Certainly not your daddy’s Baylor anymore.
Baylor sux.
The problem is that it’s not your daddy’s Sooners either!
K-state I think is 2 of 3
BUMMER SOONER!!
til I die
Merv Johnson just said it……running game averaging over 6 yards a carry in this game. Something really smells. What kind of offensive game plan was this!
how many of those yds were on Ross’ carry?
What’s the perspective if we hadn’t beaten Bama?
Good Point. But, we DID. damn. perplexing. Maybe Bama really didnt care? ( i say that in jest..) but for real, lol
Exactly. This season wouldn’t be near as disappointing.
Yea it would, for me anyway. I always come into season expecting greatness. and unfortunately since the year 2000, I’ve always been disappointed. lol (though smashing Saban was nice!!)
Oh, definitely. One of my favorite OU ball games ever. Just brought so much hype and expectation.
. Great game.
Haha Every year I run my mouth about OU winning the title. I’ll be right one day, though!
Damn straight!
hey, some ‘black humor’………..”Damnit. Another close loss. “
Jeckyl/Hyde that OU
OU looks terrible against ALL good teams. That aint no Jeckyl/Hyde.
Did Flowers play today?
Didn’t notice. But we should have used Blake Bell a lot more AGAIN in my opinion.
Say Goodnight Gracie…
This team is so fragile rite now this tt game is up in the air
No effin way. We will SMASH tech. they’re more effed up than we are!
I agree. We should be able to run for 500+ yards against Tech.
With our backup qb? tt will load the box, this game just got a lot tuffer
Yep, TT is 117th in rushing D.
Nah.
Young though. Very, very young. no veteran skill guys, save for Bell. And he’s actually more inexperienced cuz of position change..
Agreed. Which is why they need to promote Josh to another opportunity somewhere else. The kids are not being put in the best position to win. This has become a trend …no bueno…
I’m looking for a Defensive change of some kind. we need to ATTACK!!! why are we being so passive? light a fire under M Stoops but would you!
Interviewing Bob now on radio..
Poor execution?
three bad plays, and then offense and defense couldnt do anything good enough in second half. Strangely, he sounded at peace. Maybe he’s happy we’re out of it?
Maybe he got his reason to move on
Bob isn’t leaving… Ever.
You’re probly right unfortunately
just gave every excuse reasonable for “losing the lead.”
But not for FREAKING QUITTING.
He’s a walking excuse
I just dont get it!! We let their 3/4 WR have a lifetime game against us, we showed no adjustments after halftime still playing way to soft on the corners
it’s discouraging to see our coaches do the same thing over and over and over again and expecting something different to happen. is it too tough to see that you can’t play 10 yards off the receiver and only send 3 guys at the QB? get up on the receiver, hit him off the line and send our pass rushing specialists and get them out of a rhythm. we started of doing so well….why go away from it?
The definition of insanity
I think we are seeing why M Stoops & T Kish are no longer at Arizona.
Or run out of the pistol for 1 yard and fail 3-4 straight times.
This is what I don’t get, maybe someone has an answer for it, but if we are rushing 3 and they have five in the pattern, that means we could double 3 of their receivers and man up the other 2. how are they getting so wide open???
sounds good doesnt it? I’m with you though. I have no idea.. 10 yrd cushions maybe?
ou plays a zone d so they sit off wr 8-12 yards so they wont get burned on the deep ball.
Shocked, but if Wilson sees what all the fans see, I LIKE IT.
Yep…I love Wilson’s attitude and fire.
Maybe better than his ability!! ha! totally kidding. not sure kids are being put in right position yet..
That was also the drive where the DB’s played 10 yards off and they picked up 5 yards on the edge at least 5 times in a row. I would be very angry too. I would have just played up on the line myself… If I had any talent at all. Haha.
I was mystified (again) at the lack of adjustments. I cant blame the players for getting upset.
Looking forward to hearing the Brainiacs thoughts on the game. For now, Tejas/WVU game is looking like a good one.
Same here. Brainiacs will help us through this nonsense.
I’m not sure anyone can help us. Bob wins, but Bob loses too. Damn.
When I see this, my blood pressure shoots up.
http://i.imgur.com/A0ZwISk.jpg
IF it werent so true, it’d be laughable.
I don’t like this either. Why keep doing this?
It’d be better if it was from the 4th & 4 and we lined up 8 yards off.
Pisses me off so bad. Lets rush six and play 8 yards off with our corners… I love the idea of pressure, but half measures never work.
What is the goal of that defense? every route will be open even if some of defenders drop back.
Speaking of Knight, anyone have an update on him? Or is it too soon?
Last I heard on radio was that he felt okay, but they were deciding whether or not to take him to hospital and having him checked out. Neck I think..
OK, thanks.
Right there with you j l.
Welcome to the 90’s.
nowhere near the 90’s. Well, nowhere near 94-98
I don’t know having too many men on the field after a TO seems like 94-98 all over again. But no we really haven’t gotten quite that bad. Though we don’t have four eligible QB’s to play in the same game, so there is that.
At least we have the fourth best coaching staff of the 10 conf. teams.
Maybee..
Peabody……………not quite……………….KST/ Baylor/TCU/WV/Texas/Okie St/ then OU.
If there are any on here who were part of the “fire Venables, hire Mike” crowd, I’m just wondering if you’d like to take it back. Just curious.
Agreed Daddy.
I personally don’t see a huge difference between the 2. After Mike left, the Big 12 got more pass happy and tougher to defend, and his defenses at Arizona mostly sucked. Right now there really isn’t any defense that is stopping the spread – not consistently anyway. Not in the SEC. Not anywhere.
good point.
I always hear coached day ‘you have take what they give you” I’m from the school of ” take what you want!”
Well, Baylor took what we gave them alright, which was 10yd cushions! lol
Well I guess me and super K can do away with our optimism for the next 10 months
Nah, we all need some optimism.
Actually any optimism you can add would be welcomed. We need something. Lol
I just don’t like the say “well next year we’ll be good” but maybe this will cool our “national” recruiting and we can pick up some local guys.
Agreeance.
Sad

…
Before the game ou was 105th in pass defence, that coach needs the boot!! osu was 109 now after this game were prob the last in the big 12 with tt and osu to go.
Ok….who is next? Tech? Need to stop the bleeding….
Wilson…………..think you can add two more losses to Ou ( TT/OKie ST) and one win ( Kansas) = 7-5 and a minor bowl bid if the team wishes to accept such… OU wins the national trophy for the most most disappointing team in D-1 football for 2014.
We’ll beat them both because they both suck more then even we do, Stephen.
Texas is smashing WVU
Fck Texas
I support Stoops. I don’t always agree with what he does, but I support him. But for $5 million a year, he better care.
Really? what a great attitude our coach has. Why not just man-up. thats almost a disgusting remark by him. And its not the first time I’ve heard something like that from him.
#steaksonthegrill
WOW, really 5 mill not good enuf for him to care
Really, really sounds like a man who is done.
What a punk ass response. Go back to Ohio.
I think everyone has reached a decision.
He’s rite tho, he hasn’t done good enuf all year. The sad part is he’s just know seeing that
just listened to the audio of the above remark………….it was a po’d response to a hoover question ……..the above is not the full give-and-take and does not give the context
Yea, me too. Listening to his post game conference..it almost sounded like he WAS taking blame for whole season, literally.
After the way they played today, wondering how we won six. Geez!
Aside from WVU, all the competition was pretty sucky
The back end of the D got torched. 5-10 yard cushion got us killed. We smashed it down their throat in the 1st quarter and it was successful. Then FUJH, as he always does when things work, went away from it!!! Where was the QB counter we ran last week?? We didn’t run anything we did last week. We out rushed then, and if we would have stuck with it, it would have been by a wider margin. This one is all on the coaches and the position they out their players in!! If this is the product we get from 3 weeks prep, I’ll take 4 days prep over this crap any day!!

Because there was NO coverage
Maybe he was referring to Baylor… 😛
Hahaha!! Spit some beer out when I read this!!
That’s because OU surrendered the first eight yars from scrimmage
….sadly laughable…………..

Mike Stoops: In hindsight, you have to take your chances and tighten up and force him into making an accurate throw. #Sooners

Geez.
Pagan…………………this team’s demeanor turned on the INT and missed FG. 10 pt swing Ballgame.
Can’t tell me there are no assistant coaches out there who are not like stoops in 1998. I’d start with the OC at TCU or Auburn.
But what makes people think they would come here when they’re having such success where they are?
Well, there are 5,250,000 little piggies per year that might persuade…
A successful OC or Dc would come to OU to be a HC.
heard about this on the radio……….

It looks like they’re going to have to have some serious team meetings. It also looks like Mike has lost the faith of some of the players, as well as the fans.
I think he’s tired of being left over there with no safety help. If they played a safety on his side he would feel more comfortable I bet.
What was said?
Best part of the game after the first quarter. I loved the confidence and swagger his defenses had before he left for AZ. But now, the D is a hot mess. I hope this leads to measurable change.
today i lost faith in Mike Stoops..to play off of WR’s and just allow catch n throw first downs was deplorable ..he let down his Defense..and today a serious look needs to be looked at and acknowledged..and to hear him say “u need to try and make the qb make an accurate throw ” is common sense
In other news the Domers are getting whipped. Very odd football year.
aub is going in reverse at the half
I’m not sure, but I’ve heard tea leaves are also good for divining emotions and the unknowable. And Ouija boards.
haha – yep, amateur psychology is not an accurate thing. But it just looks like the coaching staff has checked out – the lights are on but nobody is home.
A couple of games back, one of our best D players said they had no idea what to do with wide splits.
Sounds like the coaches have quit coaching.
And last week was solid black I believe, with no logo that I saw.. Strange.
I agree on most points and adamantly agree that is time to end the Trevor Knight experiment because we have failed to development him or he just isn’t much of a QB. He seems critical errors that hurt you inclose games
Kendall Thompson starting for Utah tonight
Would be nice to see him really play well against Oregon. With the way today went, at least that will be something to root for.
yep the only reason i am watching games right now
out with a knee injury, no pads/helmet on the sideline
What??? What happened?
Sounds strange, I wish the man nothing but well, however there is a sense of malaise/apathy…..re: gary gibbs if you catch my drift
Agreed. Sometimes it seems by his facial demeanor, like he almost despises the fans, the media, and maybe even OK itself.. Just finally had his fill of the Sooners?
