This is what some might call a good day.

This TD celebration is epic. I’m just assuming The Rock approves.

    SOONER!

  • MrBigsby says:

Thank God the NFL and College Football don’t allow choreographed celebrations. That was brutal.

    • HoustonChiver says:

You have to let those arena league guys have a little fun. They get paid peanuts for the beatings they take

  • BoomerDave says:

The Aaron Brooks baseball commitment happened at least 6 months ago.

  • JrsySooner says:

I am now worried about AD’s mental health . ..there is nothing wrong with dreaming but he would have to average 160 yards a game… I am sorry but the Vikings suck they have always sucked since the beginning of the NFL save maybe the Fran Tarkenton days…
I will never understand why the greatest running back in the history of the NFL stayed with such a crappy team…. you cannot help but wonder what would have been had he gone to the Cowboys the Packers or even the Patriots…. poor Blake Griffin I really hope he makes the Olympics and gets a gold medal at least he will have done something beneficial with this career because again like Adrian Peterson the Clippers are another crappy team that has delusions of grandeur

    • paganpink says:

Come on. He’s AD! He’s used to carrying teams on his back and has never been the kind of guy who set his sights lower because people told him something was impossible.

      • JrsySooner says:

Dude I get all that but he’s what 30plus….out more than a year… I didn’t just start watching football yesterday…. and I am sure you didn’t either we all know running backs have a short life in the NFL

    • Brad Warren says:

AD is the ultimate competitor. He sets extremely high goals for himself. That’s what successful people do. Also, he couldn’t just leave and go play for whatever team he wanted. He was under contract.

      • JrsySooner says:

NO. He was released by the Vikings….
Remember they parted ways… all he had to do was use that as leverage to renegotiate his contract please think about that…that was the bottom line

        • Brad Warren says:

That’s not completely accurate. The public wording and posturing may have led one to believe as much but not for a minute were the Vikes just letting him walk away. That’s just my opinion.

          • JrsySooner says:

Dude make up your mind its your opinion or the position of the Vikings… you cannot have both it doesn’t matter who you are or what position you’re in you can always negotiate anything and everything…. my point is the Vikings organization came out and said they didn’t want to have anything to do with him anymore….. they bailed on him when he needed them the most jocking around trying to be politically correct…. the Vikings sided he broke the NFL’s policies therefore he had leverage to move on…. 10 years from now we’ll be watching ESPN 30 for 30 wondering what hell happened to Adrian Peterson

          • Brad Warren says:

Calm down. My mind is made up. The Vikes distanced a bit after the incident but once he was reinstated, he was still property of Vikes. We can argue all day. Correction. You can argue all day. I’m done. I feel one way, you another. I don’t work for the Vikes or AD, nor do you. Thus, neither of us knows the whole truth. Can we agree on that?

      • Walter Sobcek says:

Wish Jerry would have brought him to Dallas. Could’ve made for one of the best offenses in history.

    • HoustonChiver says:

He should’ve come to the Texans. He spends most of the year down here in Houston anyway! one/two punch with him & Foster for the next year or two would have been brutal

    • Indy_sooner says:

      AD has no equal

      • JrsySooner says:

So what is your point I have already established he has no equal…. it’s not like you to reply with just five or six words…. come on Indy you can do better than that think about it for a second

        • SCSooner87 says:

You’re a dumbass. Does that count?

        • Indy_sooner says:

Intentionally shooting for brevity but I’ll take that as a compliment 😉

AD came within a whisker of beating the rushing record- after tearing not one but two ACLs. He defies explanation from a physical attribute sense and has no-one in the modern day (and probably all time) to compare himself to, so of course his goals, to many will be unseemingly illogical. Some try to draw up charts and hypothesize the line, break down defenses schemes.. etc but in regard to *his* own goals he defies logic in every sense of the word. We cool now?

      • John Garner says:

True, but Minnesota as no O-Line.

    • ColoradoSooner says:

How do you really feel about the Vikings?

  • Zack says:

Knight will be the starter day one. #beatadeadhorse

  • BleedCrimson says:

    G-Day minus 40
Three All-Americans, plus another great. Curtis
Lofton AA, Darrell Reed AA, Leon Heath AA – Reggie
    Barnes

  • Jason Vos says:

Is it just me or is Trevor Knight looking like he’ll be the starter the more I see all these OU promo’s with him

    • Zack says:

It’s not just you. It may just be us 2 though. I just think those reps mayfield missed were going to be crucial, but if one of the QBs could afford to miss 3-4 weeks of 7 on 7 it would be mayfield. I guess we have to wait about a week or so to start getting training camp notes and see where they stand but I do think tk9 is going to be named the starter

      • cdzendolet says:

I feel like TK will probably be the starter, just due to his experience. His ups and downs are so maddening since we have seen his potential in the ’14 Sugar Bowl. Maybe the switch to Air Raid can bring out the good TK.

        • D Hunter Sanchez says:

A pick in the Akron game or below 65% passing should put him on the bench. I hope he can be the QB we hope he is, but the two-year sample size is good enough for me to want Mayfield.

          • cdzendolet says:

Agreed, unless that pick comes with 300+ yards and 4 TDs, then I am OK with it. I think Knight has earned the chance to at least prove he can handle the new system, barring Mayfield completely outshining him in fall camp, but if he shows the same mistakes he was prone to last season, Mayfield should get the nod.

          • j l says:

Mayfield is a sub 65% passer too, so why would we sit trevor for sub 65%?
Shall we just have no QB, and let perine run out of the wildcat?

        • Zack says:

That’s what I think too. That game plan in the sugar bowl was probably closest to what Riley will run. We ran the ball really just to keep bama honest and I’m sure that’s Riley’s philosophy but with the running backs he will have here then I think he’s gonna have to show he’s willing to stick with the running game early in games and early in the season.
If Riley has it figured out from the start then I think we see a 9-0 team going into Baylor. If he struggles a bit then we could be 7-2

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

Yeah I think he will be the starter for game 1. Bobs loyalty to people who do things in the right way will get him the nod.

    • Indy_sooner says:

If we were talking Heupel here, the answer would be easy, but Bob brought in a coach that has said time and again that they will put the best QB on the field. Bob himself has echoed that

    • FMsooner1 says:

He will be the starter and look OK with lesser opponents. Then when he gets in a tight game, he will throw the ball 10 feet over the receivers heads, or a pick 6. I hope he is on a short leash and we get the first loss out of the way.

      • Okie403 says:

As long as it’s an out route. Cuz one side of the field, Itll be a home crowd souvenir and on the other, it’ll either get caught by the Sooner men or pick off the opposing piccolo player in the 3rd Row. Now on crossing routes, could be a problem.

  • Lane Gilstrap says:

That was by far my favorite highlight video but not my favorite music to go with it. I am also worried Knight will be named the starter not because of Baker missing time but because TK doesn’t take as many chances as Baker does. I’m in favor of anybody but Knight. I’ve seen enough from him.

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

I’ve seen enough as well. Yet, we do have a new OC and a new offense. I think Knight will have a short lease if he is inconsistent in the Akron game.

    • JrsySooner says:

Dude I get your resentment towards Trevor Knight but you have to understand something he hasn’t been surrounded by a system that benefits him… Josh made him look like a robot at times I think under Lincoln Riley he’s going to be a little bit more spontaneous…. after all he only had one true receiver last year now he has at least 4… not to mention they have great speed an excellent height advantage….. I think this year is a whole new ballgame

      • John Garner says:

I tend to agree. I think TK’s problems arose from JH’s system, if there was one, and the restrictions he imposed on TK. It is, however, still confusing how the both of them could combine for such an outstanding effort against Bama then crap all over themselves in the season to follow. The only thing that comes to mind to explain it is the lack of experienced depth at QB (they were afraid to get TK hurt) and having only one go-to guy at WR (Sheppard). That’s not the case this year as we are loaded everywhere and LR kicks ass.

    • Okie403 says:

I’m going to kick the hornets nest with you Jrsy. I really can’t see why so many are gaga over BM. I mean really. The guy may be the next coming of Joe Montana but right now he has participated in what 5 0r 6 games, and prolly closer to 4 if you take into consideration that he didn’t finish 2 due to injury and one to performance or shared duty with Webb.

I look at BM’s career stats of 2315 yards, 12:9 TD/Int ratio and a 6.8yd/catch stat. And then throw in as well that these games were against the powerhouses of SMU,SFAustin, Kansas, Texas St and a 7th place in B12 team of TCU. Frankly he just doesn’t jazz my football guts.

After watching that ECU game on EspnU over the weekend, I’ll be real interested to see what CoachLRiley can devise with more talent at his disposal. That ECU offense wasn’t very pretty through much of that game. (That QB throws like my grandma did and had nothing on it past 20 yes). CoachBB better have the OffLine ready. I know that the poor QB from ECU didn’t have much giddyyap in his cleats, but there were way too many opposing jerseys in his backfield!

Lastly and unrelated to above: thx for such a great site TFB guys. Don’t always agree with commentary (Jordan ✌️) but appreciate the thoughtful and cordial discussion. For those who can’t keep it civil or never have any real positive input (Stephen D ?), why not leave the rest of us alone?

Ok. That is all. Back to work!

      • Lane Gilstrap says:

I would be good with Cody Thomas or BM for the record. I’m just fed up with TK

      • SoonerinLondon says:

Have I said this before? If not: We are QB-challenged.

I’m really an eternal optimist, but the reality is that we are generally depending upon TK9, who so far has been TKPK6 and BM, who went from undefeated starter at TT to 4th team without a scholly offer until he threatened to transfer to OU.

To steal a quote from Mad Men; “Not great, Bob.”

I’m hoping the new coaching and system will magically transform them.

        • MoJoOkie says:

As far a TK goes, I am inclined to agree with the crowd that believes that JH contributed, to a high degree, to TK’s erratic play. One example that still haunts me is the throw from the endzone, all the way accross the field, for a possible five yard gain against K-State. That call had JH written all over it and made no sense. After half a season or so of those types of calls, and confidence in the system will work on a QB. Time will tell, but I am not fearful in the least that TK will get the nod at QB and that LR’s offense will be much freindlier to him.

          • SoonerinLondon says:

The throws that haunt me are the swing passes to a back, landing at the back’s feet. That was the TK9 we saw in his first game and, unfortunately, the TK9 we’ve seen in the spring games hasn’t been much different.

That is my real worry…that we haven’t seen much improvement in accuracy, which is the foundation upon which the new offense is built.

Anyway, I guess it will be what it will be. I’ll still go to the games and be the old geezer screaming like a kid to try to pull them through.

          • MoJoOkie says:

Well, we’ll see what Lincoln Riley can make of it.

    • jonnyBgood says:

Just as many are saying, I too understand your lack of excitement regarding TK9 as “the guy.” However, a poster the other day made a great point about Boykin and the way he looked before and after the new O was installed at TCU. He was pretty darn pedestrian before the new spread attack was put in and now the kid is in the Heisman discussion! This was a great parallel and I wish I could remember the poster’s name. Now, TK9 may be a bust? He may end up getting benched for a lack of production? He may turn into a similar version of the guy we watched torch Bama that beautiful night in NOLA?! My point (and many others) is we need to let everything unfold and if he is named the guy we need to stand behind him and trust the coaches and their decision to appoint him as the man to take this team to greatness. I am in no way ready to write this kid off just yet. I believe he has the skill set to be a rock solid collegiate QB and I pray he proves me right this upcoming season.

Can we kick the damn ball off already?!?!?!? Boomer!!!

  • Indy_sooner says:

Can’t lie. Aggies and Mo, can go kick rocks if they were still in the B12 but I still have a difficult time digesting the loss of Nebbish.
I listened to the entire show and its a lot more candid and informed than the crap that some of our own stations put out.

  • KJ1123 says:

The backfield is going to be nasty this year! I hope they settle on a qb to just take care of the ball. I wanna see ground pounding wearing down defenses with the run game type of ball this year.

    • Brad Warren says:

Not to be capt obvious but that’s not the offense we’re going to see.

      • KJ1123 says:

True for the most part. But to me it’s simple math, 4 bonafied studs in the run game compared to 2 in the pass game means Linc should adjust accordingly. The offense will be fun to watch regardless though.

  • Walter Sobcek says:

I think we will see both QBs in the first game. As disappointed as we all were with TK last year, he may be more effective in this new offense and with the return of SS and the addition of the new receivers. Plus, he has the potential for some huge runs ouf of the spread. Either way, we should see much improved play out of the QB position.

  • OohRah Mama says:

After reading Charlie Strong’s slap to Bobby Stoops’ face in his media days interview, I’d just like to ask forgiveness in advance, take off my white gloves, get the bar of soap out ready to scrub my tongue and say

**** you, Charlie Strong, **** Texas and **** the horse you rode in on. If I wanted any s*** from you, buddy, I’d wipe it off your lips. May you fall off the Empire State Building and catch your eyelid on a rusty nail as you go down. May every single Sooner on the football roster humiliate you and yours on the scoreboard in Dallas more than you’ve ever been humiliated before. I hope you get a mouthful of cold sores and gargle with rubbing alcohol. You no longer have my respect, for whatever that was worth, and I hope your time at Texas is miserable and short.

Holy **** and Hallelujah, pass the Tylenol.
