Calling Eric Striker OU’s most indispensable player seems pretty silly to me (which is no way a reflection of his talent), but to each their own I suppose. (ESPN)

For all the great things Boren has done both for the university and athletics (and there are many), I have to believe that ‘wallflower’ comment will wind up being his legacy for at least a decent portion of OU Football fans. Although I’m certainly open to being convinced otherwise.
David Boren sounds like a man who hasn't learned his lesson on leaving some thoughts publicly unexpressed. Column: http://t.co/lFgqAKNol4

Are we still in this conference?
I’m guessing in body only not spirit. I think Boren is getting tired of texass’s B.S. Not to mention the BIGXII.
Tejas will destroy this league. The day is coming.
Texsa has already destroyed this league. Nebbish, Mizzery, and eATMe gone because of the oppression.
It’s what they do.
R.I.P. SWC.
Let’s start the Mid South Conference. And rule #1 NO TEJAS TEAMS EVER. Any suggestions on other teams?
Or just invite back the teams that left if we expel Texsa.
I like this but its just an opinion so don’t be to harsh. I haven’t had breakfast this morning.
1. Oklahoma
2. Puke State
3. Nebraska
4. Missouri
5. Florida State
6. Clemson
7. Auburn
8. Kansas State
9. Kansas
10. Iowa State
11. Iowa
12. Tulsa or East Carolina
I’m open to suggestions.
I think you should eat something. 🙂
How about:
Oklahoma
Florida st
Missouri
Auburn
Ole MIss
Bama
LSU
Texas A&M
Kentucky
Vandy
Tenn
Florida
Georgia
S carolina
Ark
Miss st
I take it you have had breakfast.
OU will never leave little brother behind.
UNFORTUNATELY……….
True its like being born a siamese twin. One being dead from the neck up but you still have to drag it with you wherever you go.
Might be advantageous to join the Ohio valley and have recruiting access to the Upper Midwest plus the East Coast…….
And look at what Mizzou has accomplished since crossing over to the dark side.
Speaks well of Mizzou’s decision-makers…….
agreed………………….
It is already upon us.
3 or more yrs ago—-agreed.
I saw Boren’s statement as a kind of an ultimatum. Essentially, patch this sinking ship or we are getting off. I am not as excited about the PAC as some others. I would say Big 10 or SEC.
I say SEC or bust. Although they no longer have the best team, they still get the top recruits and place more players in the league which is the recruiting magnet. Clearly, OU would get the Lion’s share of players that A&M and Missouri and the lesser SEC powers are getting. Missouri’s won the East twice. You’d think OU would be the equal of Bama if standards hold true.
Or at least Mizzou’s standards…………
If my memory serves me correctly, Stoops does not want us in the SEC. I believe it was in part because of all the recruiting issues there. PAC 12 would be a great place for OU if push comes to shove. As for expansion, I like FSU and Clemson a lot. Georgia Tech would not be bad either – good football, good baseball and decent basketball.
OU will never change conferences because we always try to bring our little brother with us.
And if I remember correctly, the PAC 12 was not excited about having OSU, but was about having Texas and OU. Am I remembering right?
Interesting thing about the Burton tweet, first symbol next to ND is a bag of money.

Striker is our most indispensable player, he is the only one that other teams have to game plan for either on offense (now with new system), or defense.
I’d include Sheppard. I think Sterling is indispensable as well, now that he’s healthy. Opposing DC’s will have to game plan for him as well.
I think you are both right. 🙂
They won’t be able to, he won’t be the ONLY wr we throw to now. Not that he won’t be the best but moreso not the only option.
I only mentioned SS because of the receivers like DeDeE who can make DC’s lose sleep, he’s the only one who has played in a game.
I’m indispensable as a fan.
You don’t think coaches have to game plan for Perine? At min, they have to bring in extra trainers to handle all the injuries.
No, not in this offense. Not saying he won’t be a huge part of the offense but I expect all the running backs to be used the same way. If a offense treats Striker the same as other OLB (DE) they will get ate up..
Now the 2 biggest parts of our defense will probably come down to Bond, and Will Johnson.
I actually agree with this. QBs = crickets, RBs and WRs have sufficient depth and we have new guys on the line. Besides Shep and Perine he is the only one that consistently poses a threat any time he hits the field and honestly, he has *no* replacement in terms of production IMHO
My thoughts as well… !
Not gonna gameplan against Perine? I know he’s an airraid guy, but if he ignores Perine he needs to be fired after this season.
He won’t ignore him, but he won’t and better not be the ONLY rb touching the ball. I think Perine will like and excel in this offense. Will show he can block, catch out of the backfield and show off his quick (especially for a 240lb) start and stop feet.
The cookie monster is sad because he has no cookies and you are sad because you have no friends. Bwahahaha!
What’s Lacrosse?
I think it’s a Buick. 🙂
Thank you, I knew I had heard that word before.

Shortest books in the history of the written word:
1) French War Heroes
2) Oklahoma State Football All-Americans.
I’m suggesting we combine them into one volume and release them on a postage stamp.
Add number of conference championships by TAMU and you have a deal.
Claimed conference championships or actual conference championships?
LOL!
Actual.
An asterisk wouldn’t take up much room on the postage stamp. Which is really all A&M football heritage is… and asterisk on football history.
If you ever go to NYC @sooner_4ever:disqus be sure not to visit the statue of liberty.
That is some funny stuff.
Iowahawk has no equal as a humorist.

LOL @ David Ubben, ” Banking on future growth is a wholly unnecessary gamble.”
LOL!
Those words must have sounded good when they were still in his mind.
Perhaps what he meant to say was, “Banking on future gambling growth is wholly unnecessary.”
Perhaps, or he felt compelled to say something…anything.

In regards to OU joining the SEC but not wanting to leave OSU behind; why would OU want to leave OSU behind? For the last ten years or so OSU has put a quality team on the field and has played OU very well. The two teams I would want OU to keep playing if they go to another conference would be OSU and texass. However, if OU is in the SEC then no way I would want both of those teams to be OU’s out of conference opponents. As much as I disdain OSU they are a team that has the ability to beat anyone and certainly must not be taken lightly.
Another thought on OU joining the SEC. What would make people think the SEC wants to expand? The revenue sharing would be divided even further. Also, I doubt the SEC brain trusts thought Missouri would be as competitive as they turned out to be and certainly took the aggies to gain a footprint in texass. Neither team was added to bolster the competitive level of the SEC. OU would be a challenger to the “traditional” powers in the SEC- not sure that’s the direction the SEC would want to go in.
That person’s 5 step plan to fix the Big 12 is absurd. He could have simplified it to 1 step and said “be better”.
If OU moves to the $ec wouldn’t OU have to drop wrestling?
What would the offseason be….without expansion talk….
