During his usual Monday meeting with the media, Bob Stoops provided the update on Baker Mayfield so many were desperately were waiting for. Additionally, following Stoops’ comments OU’s head trainer, Scott Anderson, also spoke with those gathered as to the specifics regarding Mayfield’s status.
Here’s what we learned.
(1) Mayfield did in fact suffer a concussion, Anderson confirmed this.
(2) Mayfield has passed all the concussion tests he has been put through thus far and barring a setback during the week, he is expected to play on Saturday against Oklahoma State.
There you have it.

The football gods are smiling on OU! Thank you
Thanks for updating. Just shows that there are concussions and then there are concussions.
Baker giving a good interview. Humorous in parts.
… And Baker said he has been headache free since Saturday in the second half. Is watching film and doing his cardio workout.
That’s pretty d*mn impressive that the guy played as well as he did and was still throwing on a dime with a concussion.
Now we got that out of the way.
Lets talk bedlam!!
1 game away from a Big 12 championship!
CFP birth
the DL play for both teams will decide this game
Ogbah is a beast.
Phenomenal player for two seasons now.
His matchup on a freshmen…
If I’m OSU,
I would be moving ogbah all over the line.
Double team shep with my 2nd and 3rd CB
Put Peterson on Westbrook or the number 2.
OU has to get a WR/TE to step up in this game and get creative on the run game.
Best way to negate a pass rusher is to punch them in the mouth with Perine…repeatedly.
Yes! If the aggies give us any looks like TCU was early in the game, I hope Riley just runs all damn day. Then, bust em with play action.
If OU can run the ball and OSU can’t that’ll be the difference unless Mayfield is getting sacked repeatedly and that results in turnovers.
“Just as we, at 247, had previously reported…”
tweeted by some douche earlier…
I’d say that’s laughable, but considering the source seems kinda redundant.
It’s true, the funny thing is, they went from reporting Mayfield will play at Oklahoma St. To, “as we reported, all signs point to”..
For anyone wanting to re-watch the TCU game, StoneColdSooner delivers again:

Thanks! Not sure I want to re-watch this one though, lol.
stonecoldsooner has definitely become a great source for high quality game uploads, but I’m not sure I could rewatch that game – might end up on the verge of a breakdown all over again 😉
I can’t believe Stoops gave an update at all, let alone one so thorough.
I have to believe that was for the benefit of the CFP committee.
Yep. Almost certainly
Whew. Sounds like all good news! So that’s over now everyone repeat after me :
We want Open Post…we want Bedlam Thread
We want Open Post…we want Bedlam Thread
We want Open Post…we want Bedlam Thread
Walk it off, dude.
Rub some dirt on it.
Little siriusxm love for OU/OSwho:

Wondering why Riley never used the TE when Trevor was playing. Trevor really likes to throw to the TE.
Andrews def needs to be used more over the middle
Will any puke players try and hit him in the head?
Seems hard to believe anyone would intentionally do something that will get them ejected from the game, but then we are talking about the pukes so logic doesn’t necessarily apply here
What is Landthieves new handle?
@RedDirtSport
Add that to the Thanksgiving day thanks-list.
I still say that’s one of the worst, most flagrant fouls I’ve seen in CFB, and the punk toad that made the hit should be nailed to a wall (figuratively speaking of course ;).
I’m sure few know for sure, but to me, it appears to be totally intentional. That LB of tcu’s should be forced to miss the rest of the season and bowl game.
I want a boom!
FWIW, Sam Bradford’s concussion in 2007 seemed significantly worse – eyes totally glazed over – and he was just fine for Bedlam a week later. Had a good game.
If only head injuries were so simple.
Yeah emphasis on “FWIW” 😉
Real Heisman winners don’t get concussions.
/sarcasm
Yeah, and real football players don’t even wear helmets. Or nothing more than a leather one.
K must be writing up one of the best OP’s we’ve seen since TFB came around. Or, I’m just being really impatient. Probably the latter…
there are so many booms his keyboard exploded
And now for something completely different:
I have to say that the way Lester handled his press conference today was some of his best work. For a guy that isn’t known for his eloquence, he really did a first rate job, IMO.
Go Huskers! Go Cardinal! Go Auburn! Go Gamecocks! GO OU!!
Not necessarily in that order ….
No particular order… they all accomplish the same thing.
Without the last, the others don’t matter! I knew what you meant; just messin’ with you. Bored at work.
Yup yup… gotta take care of business in Stillwater. I’m really hoping to sneak in at the #4 spot for a rematch with Clemson.
That’s the payback matchup I would like to see. Venables had the advantage of knowing OU’s offense last year; this year it will be new to him.
add in the fact that OU is now a spread/air raid offense… exactly the kind we were all angry about Brett not knowing how to scheme against…
I’m all for it! Revenge Tour 2015 continues!
OP up!
Prevention
1.No tolerance for intentional/avoidable head hits
2. Severe penalty
3. Knock a Key player out of the game and jeopardize his mental health and function should be treated with a consequence/penalty it deserves. Not a personal foul with ejection.
4. The message should be sent to osu that a head hit of Baker will not be tolerated and consequences will follow.
5. The consequence of an avoidable head hit should reflect the potential damage it can cause as well as the outcome of the game.
Parkers block is the new superman play. Especially if OU goes into the playoff and beyond.
