We’re half way into the season and still not entirely sure which OU team will show up on any given Saturday. Let us hope the OU team that shows up today has a strong inclination to send their opponents packing back to West Texas.

Should have been starting from the beginning. Him and brown are studs.
They’re both future NFL linemen. Orlando Brown is only starting because Kenyon Frison’s suspension forced it — but if Frison comes back (which, iirc, is the plan) then OU’s OL has a BRIGHT future now that Zeus Jr. is getting valuable experience. He’s getting better every game.
Next year’s line with Alvarez at center and Zeus Jr/Samia/(potentially)Frison is a hell of a foundation to build a line with.
Now that was efficient. Just keep the tempo going and this could get ugly. D needs to stay focused on their assignments.
I like to call this Air Raid+. Power when you need it, finesse when you want it.

Huge props to D. Austin. This is just the sort of game where you want your Zack Sanchez to be jumping the route for an interception or 4. Looked like a nice competitive interception in the end zone to me, though.
I was concerned with the combo of cushion he’s been giving and number of shots his way but a pick off the bench is a good day for the kid.
He better give a cushion. He’s not Sanchez and the last thing he should do is let someone get away. His tackling in space has been impressive.
Not sure about the Mayfield interception…. I know if it’s TK or anyone else back there the online community is blasting everyone in sight first and asking questions later, but I think it may very well have been a busted route by Westbrook, bringing his man into the passing lane. Will be interesting to hear later about that.

If, and I guess maybe it’s a big if, OU simply comes out and plays like they did the first half this game could again be out of reach pretty quickly. The offense has shot itself in the foot three times, two turnovers and botched drive–actually several shots in a row, to the feet on the botched drive, but minus stopping ourselves, this game would not be close.
In all fairness they shot themselves in the foot a couple of times as well.

They attacked Austin all day and he took some blows but he also tackled well for the most part and, of course, the interception was fitting for anybody who would fill in for Sanchez.
Yes, gives me a lot of confidence to know we do have guys back there that can fill in and excel. Sanchez is good. But I think these young guys will be better. They are hungry and know what happens when you tackle poorly. Embarrassing things like the Baylor debacle of 2014.

LSU fighting for survival against the awesome WKU Hilltoppers. The kittens have managed to battle their way to a 7-7 tie with just over 5 minutes left in the half. They have even managed to keep production on the field from getting too far behind the mighty hilltoppers…..only 40 yards less total offense! Damn those SEC teams are tough!

How about a salute to Dakota Austin. He did not miss a single tackle on those quick throws.
I was extremely proud and happy for him. He’s been around for years and has never got any meaningful snaps. He came in and was very solid. Kept everything in front of him and as you mentioned, tackled excellent. Also, the pick was a big time play.
I am proud of Austin too. Anybody else surprised, though, that either Green or Mbanasor didn’t get the call up after the injury? I know they have backed up J. Thomas. Do the coaches differentiate the cornerback positions that much?

Sure hope he did the way TT’s OC was picking on him. The kid stepped up.
Thought he played excellent. Some may not agree with this, but in a lot of ways, I like his play more than I like that of Sanchez. And JT has been solid on the other side. Parker looks good. Johnson looks good. If we can coach up PJ and the young safeties, we should be pretty solid in the secondary over the next few years.

I’m anything but a Dline expert but Q really needs to be playing more. I noticed several occasions where our edge rushers would get pressure(like they often do) the QB had no room to step up because the DT pushed his guy back in the pocket. Low and behold that guy was Q on most of those occasions…. I mean Q next to walker is a pretty awesome duo IMO.

I think we enter the 3 game run ranked around 12. That’s a good spot if we can finish the year with a couple of top 5 upsets.
That sounds about right to me. Until we play Baylor, we really won’t know how good we are, so I wouldn’t mind that. And I doubt we have to worry about them being motivated against any of our last 3 games (considering we lost against them all last year anyway).

What I was pondering, Russell and the first team offense was still on the field for baylor with about 6 minutes left in the game. When was the last time baylor had to play an entire game with starters, last year’s bowl loss? Kind of hoped we would be the first team to test their stamina in a tough game.
Baylor is very vanilla on offense , IMO they can be easily stopped if you play smart and make no mistakes. Their defense is extremely overrated , really not that good
Coaches and players got to be salivating looking at the defenses they have remaining on the schedule. Perine and Mixon should have some big days coming, with the only one I’m not sure about…Okie Lite.
We are getting better each week and I love the attitude of the players & coaches. I believe OU can blow out OKST , I just have a gut feeling. I will say I did predict OKST will have 2 losses at the end of the season. I think they steal one from TCU or Baylor.
I know tcu and baylor suck on defense, haven’t seen Okie Lite play yet.
Currently, tcu has two LBs that are 195 and 200. It explains a lot as to why so many have run up the middle on them.
I would give TCU somewhat of a pass on defense , 6 of their starters have been out all year and have no depth. Puke St hasn’t played great ball but they all their Big games at home
I know of tcu’s injuries, and with that line up on D their offense may not be able to keep up with our offense, especially the way our defense is looking.
If we didn’t have those two turnovers , this defense would of held them to 13 points. This defense has came along way and I’m proud of them. This team has something to prove.. #Justwaitonit

I like it when players play with confidence and passion , I haven’t seen that in a OU team in a long time. Their is a true brotherhood in this locker room.
Didn’t hear that report but I did hear he fractured (?) something in his neck. That was a preliminary report though. Saw where they replaced him with the freshman, Stidham (sp?). From the clips on TV, he looked real mobile.
His recruiting videos showed he was a real dual threat QB.

I am well pleased with the improvement and potential of this team going forward, on offense and defense.
Steady improvement is evident. Two more unbeatens fell yesterday. Iowa State did a good job against Russell (16-37 for less than 200 yards) and now Bears have to go with a freshman QB. TCU is beatable. The sky is still the limit.

I believe that Perine and Mixon will both be over 1k at the end of the season. They should, if Bob has a little chat with Linclon, be more run plays being called. They both should have at minimum 12 to 15 carries each.

Been saying for awhile that the JUCO WRs are not primetime. It’s taken them awhile to understand they are not playing against juco players. Their fumbles & drops have happened at inopportune times. My hope is they can get it together before we head down the stretch.
Yeah, I kind of wonder why Andrews is backing up Shepard intead of having them both on the field, given that, as you say, our jucos are struggling with drops.
This is the team we wanted to see . A run heavy air raid , guys tackling on defense , putting up 60 . If the boys can keep this momentum , November is going to be good !!
