OU/Texas Rivalry Renamed (Again)

The annual Dallas meeting of OU and Texas has once again been “re-branded” by the powers that be. The ‘Red River Showdown’ is what *insert corporate sponsor* wants you to refer to the game as going forward.
Or you can just do what we all do and refer to it as the Red River Shootout since it never should have been changed in the first place.
Thoughts on the name change?

Have never stopped calling it the shootout. It will always be the shootout regardless of whatever politically-correct crap these goons come up with.

When typing, I just say RRR or RRS…when talking about the the game, I just say the “texas game”…so I don’t really care what they do to a logo
I say OU texas as well
I guess I’ll just call it the Red River Fart Fart since it doesn’t matter anymore. On a side note, I’m predicting a dominating OU victory in this year’s Red River Fart Fart.
It could be worse like the Red River Romp.
Only a matter of time before they say it’s a meeting between the long horned cows and the wagon drivers and it will take place in Jerry’s World. Barbeque and lemonade will be enjoyed by all. YEE HAW ! I gotta find me a beer!
Speaking of Texas. Texas Coaches Clinic. Big Time difference in Wick?Watson then Major. Wick is a STUD. “when your coaching a kid with straight A’s and a choir boy I give a F^&*( if he can’t pass protect we are getting our a$$ getting kicked”. Also I guess in the past the Oline was playing grab a$$ during Pre Practice?Specials. Not any more. Heck that s a whole extra period to get work in.
With today’s gun culture in mind I for one was glad to see the game changed from “shoot out”. The term “rivalry” only brings out the worst in people and brings a disproportionate amount of intensity to what is really just a game. To call it a “showdown” once again reminds us all of the entertainment purpose of sport and restores balance to the place games have in society.
JUST KiDDING!!! I think the change was proposed by Texass and is just one more step they are trying to make in remaking their image from candy-butts to macho Texass roughies. Somebody in an office somewhere has too much time on their hands!

I’m in the “shootout” camp as well, although, as long as there is a mass “texodus” at halftime, you can call it whatever you want.
Shootout, bar none, that being said showdown is better than RRR…my 2 cents…
