New LB Offer & Potential Visitor: The OU coaches have been on the search for one or two additional linebacker prospects in this 2016 class, and I’m told they recently extended an offer to a prospect committed to an ACC school. A source also let me know that prospect is expected to be in Norman this coming weekend for an official visit.

We are working to confirm with the player directly, however often when committed players are taking a visit they aren’t particularly open to talking about it. Which is why we’ve chosen not to mention the player by name.

It’s not about trying to be clever by withholding the name or anything like that. We simply haven’t had a chance to speak with the young man, so we’re not looking to blow up his spot by putting his name out there if he doesn’t want it out. – (Brandon)

Calvin Bundage: 2016 Edmond Santa Fe athlete Calvin Bundage should be a familiar name to OK Preps fans as well as those who follow OU. Bundage was offered by the Sooners way back in January 2015 as an OLB/S type athlete. But where Bundage and the Sooners stand has been a bit of a mystery for some time now.

In speaking with Bundage just the other day, he tells TFB there has been some renewed communication between himself and the OU coaches. Evidently DB coach Kerry Cooks recently reached out to Bundage, however it’s still not exactly clear just yet where things stand.

It may be something to keep an eye on as we rapidly approach NSD, or it could just as easily prove to be nothing. Hard to say at the moment. – (Brandon)

Emmanuel Beal: Lackawanna College has recently become a popular location for the OU coaching staff to scout prospective talent. The most recent Lackawanna prospect added to that OU list is LB Emmanuel Beal.

Although Beal has yet to actually receive an offer from the Sooners, he has set up an official visit to OU for January 29. Linebackers coach Tim Kish was also out to see Beal yesterday and with former Lackawanna College offensive lineman, and good friend, Ashton Julious already on campus in Norman, it only helps the Sooners’ chances with Beal.

TFB spoke with Beal, who sounds very high on the Sooners and says he is expecting an offer to come fairly soon. – (Brandon)

Velus Jones: As we noted yesterday, Oklahoma’s primary WR target, Velus Jones (Saraland, AL) tells TFB that he will have his in-home visit with the OU coaches today. – (Super K)

Quartney Davis & Javon Wims: We also noted yesterday that two prospective WR targets that were expected to visit this weekend, Quartney Davis and Javon Wims, will no longer be doing so.

Davis (Houston, TX) had previously announced he would visit Oklahoma on the 22nd, however, I spoke with a couple people close to him who offered some additional insight regarding that decision. The people I spoke with don’t believe the visit to OU will be rescheduled and that the Sooners are essentially out of the running. Ole Miss and TAMU are believed to be the teams under consideration for Davis’ next visit, and UCLA is expected to be his final official visit.

Davis did, however, release a Top 5 yesterday which included the Sooners but again, I’m being told by people close to Davis that the Sooners are no longer truly in the mix. Now it’s recruiting which comes with the always necessary, yet obvious, caveat that things are fluid. So should something change with respect to OU & Davis we’ll certainly do our best to bring that to you as quickly as possible. But for now, you know what we know (or at least what we have been told). – (Super K)

Kapri Doucet: JUCO LB Kapri Doucet (Lackawanna CC) did confirm that he is still set to take his official visit to Oklahoma this weekend. – (Super K)

– Anthony Hines: The 2017 LB tells TFB that Bob Stoops stopped by his school earlier today. – (Brandon)
