Parrish Cobb: David Smoak of ESPN Radio had Parrish Cobb on his radio show yesterday and based on the conversation with Parrish, he tweeted out the following:

For OU fans this is big news. If the family had taken the trip down to Texas this weekend, who knows what could’ve happened. The question then is where things stand with Baylor. I will likely catch up with one of Cobb’s parents sometime this week to try and get the answer to that, but I wanted to give you a few notes in the meantime based on what I’ve been told by someone close to the family.

Like most mother’s, they want their child close. So Parrish going to Baylor and staying close to home, I’m told, would be something his mother would obviously like. But I’m also under the impression that isn’t something she is pushing (Norman really isn’t that far). It’s more something that she’d like, but would certainly be supportive either way. I’ve been told that Cobb’s father really likes OU. I spoke to him (the father) last week who didn’t offer up which way he was leaning, but everyone I’ve spoken with gives me the impression that the father is very comfortable with Kerry Cooks, Bob Stoops & Oklahoma.

The thing that may really be in OU’s favor, I’m told, is that a lot of the young football players in Waco looked up to Ahmad Dixon growing up. Dixon had a chance to play for a lot of coaches, including Nick Saban. Whether it’s true or not, a lot of folks in Waco believe that had Dixon played for Saban or a school better known for defense, he would’ve been drafted higher.

To be clear, I’m not attempting to criticize Baylor or their defensive development. Simply relaying something I’ve been told, by folks close to the situation, is a concern. – (Super K)

– Brandon Bowen: I was able to exchange texts with Baylor 2016 DE commit Brandon Bowen, who visited Oklahoma last weekend, and I wanted to share the message he sent regarding his trip.

“My visit to OU was amazing. I had an amazing time and I got a ton of information regarding the program. The coaches and the players are humble people, easy to be around and talk to.”

Can’t say for sure what it means but as quiet as Bowen is, I took that as a rave review. – (Brandon)

Erick Fowler and Briston Guidry: Erick Fowler and Briston Guidry were expected to take official visits to Oklahoma this week, but neither trip will now happen. Guidry told TFB he is not coming, and I spoke with one of Fowler’s family members yesterday who let me know Fowler has decided not to take anymore trips. – (Super K)

Joshua Jacobs: As most of you know, Oklahoma stopped by McLain HS yesterday to visit with 2016 ATH Joshua Jacobs. I spoke with Jacobs’ father a little more last night to get a sense of how things played out with OU and what their plan is going forward with NSD rapidly approaching.

Jacobs’ father said both Lincoln Riley and Jay Boulware stopped by yesterday to speak with them at the school. Then, about 45 minutes later, Bob Stoops came through as well (see picture below).

IMG_5247

In terms of the offer, it was a little ambiguous. In that the way Jacobs’ father says he understood it, was that an offer would be extended once they decided to visit.

However, apparently Oklahoma spoke to Jacobs again last night and it sounds like they made it clear he has an offer from Oklahoma, and the spot is there for him if he wants it.

Missouri will be back today for a third time in only the past two weeks to visit Jacobs and his father, who let me know they really like Ryan Walters at Missouri (who, ironically enough, is also a former OU staffer as well). Purdue will also be visiting and evidently their HC spoke with Jacobs last night.

As I also mentioned yesterday on Twitter, Ohio State has called to request a transcript, and I’m told they are looking at Jacobs for a similar role to the one OU coaches seem him playing, i.e. slot, running back, return guy, etc. Essentially moving him around like an H-back and just trying to get the ball in his hands in space. Apparently Ohio State is no longer recruiting Miami ATH commit Sam Bruce, so they are looking at Jacobs as a possible replacement.

It sounds like the family will take the next couple days to speak to the coaches that are interested and then decide where to officially visit over the weekend. The family tells me that whatever school they do decide to visit this weekend will likely be Jacobs’ ultimate destination. However, I should note that Jacobs has been to Norman on many occasions and has been on the OU campus.

In fact, Jacob’s father talked about the possibility of trying to take a mid-week day trip to Norman to sit down with the coaches. If that happens, they would still have time to look at another school over the weekend and then make a final decision upon their return. – (Super K)

Team Testing | Bench Press: Sooners continued some team testing last Friday and we just wanted to pass on a couple notes we received as to who some of the top performers were.

Of the linemen, Jordan Wade and Dru Samia put up the most weight and reps.

Of the WRs/DBs, not surprisingly Jordan Smallwood and Hatari Byrd performed the best. Something of note, however, I was also told Michiah Quick did really well. He apparently one of the best performing WRs on the bench press which, in our opinion, is a good sign because it shows even though he may not have received the most playing time thus far he’s still putting in the work. – (TFB)

I have heard on several occasions that Quick can bench 315.

  • Jason Vos says:

How big is Hatari Byrd? Wouldnt he be better suited at ILB?

I have always thought so. The guy runs downhill and will flat out hit people. The question to me has always been could he put the weight on and keep his speed.

Still think Chris Daniels ends up at OU. The Dline is strong, and would be even nastier with Daniels in the fold

  • Jason Vos says:

I bet Hatari Byrd gets some reps at LB this spring just because depth is so thin with Evans injured and without the new arrivals in the fold

    • soonerthunder says:

I don’t think so, personally. Never have heard that. I think he’s valuable, valuable depth at safety. Can you imagine having a SR safety with lots of starting experience as a backup? Great position to be in. Safety is your last line of defense obviously, so recognition is vital, and recognition comes with experience.

    • SoonerfanTU says:

Be interesting to see if he sticks around. Unless there is an injury or two, the guy has little shot at starting again. His call on what he wants to do, but I wouldn’t fault him.

Bummer about Fowler not taking an OV. I was hoping OU had an outside shot since he looks like a great OLB prospect.

    • Bob Edwards says:

This is why there needs to be a couple of early signing periods. I would say one in August before HS FB starts and one in December right after it ends.

    • RocketCitySooner says:

It would change things. KIds wouldn’t early commit. They’d wait until NSD. So, what would that really change?

      • Rick says:

The amount of money bookies would swap on NSD.

        • metzker says:

          Good one Rick!

          • Rick says:

Something really needs to change, there was a time I remember back in the 70’s when the classes were pretty much said and done by the end of the season. Some changes afterward, but not many. NSD was anticlimatic. Really just a formality. Now its kinda “What can you do for me?”. Two problems I can see moving forward is, there is so much money involved in D1 football, and Social Media puts even you and I in touch with the recruits. That shouldn’t be! I have tweeted recruits encouragement at times, but I really wish I couldn’t after seeing what vile creatures are out there contacting these kids. The jerk on the day that the Draper kid decommitted from OSU was a good example. I don’t know what the answer is, but something has got to give.

          • metzker says:

Social media has changed things. But I remember when every year the FSU people would be wringing their hands from the lack of commits and Bobby always closed strong in the last couple of weeks before NSD, with the big-time players

    • sooner4ever says:

And then the whole coaching staff ups and leaves to join another team? Not such a good idea.

  • BamaSooner#12! says:

Slot WR Chris Black is transferring from Bama and would be eligible to play immediately.

  • Eddie and Amber says:

I didn’t know we were still in with Daniels. I guess that’s good if true.

    • Rick says:

We were never out with Daniels. He has just stepped back and taken a deep breath. I was never happy he decommitted, but I can appreciate that he wanted to give us the opportunity to recruit around him rather than wait till the last minute to change his mind.

  • j l says:

I really like the idea of a dedicated return guy. I think a lot of the issues with the return unit was the fact they couldnt afford shep to get hurt.

I know, I know, we should have put someone else back there then, but there has to be a reason they didnt.

Special teams won bama the title, it simply cant be overlooked.

    • Eddie and Amber says:

They were very cautious with Broyles his last year too. Brown was different for some reason.

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

The fake punt by Clemson really got them going vs OU too.

    • Bob Edwards says:

This may improve with more depth at WR. I think part of the problem is that the only people we had with trustworthy hands were our starting WR. If we can develop some good WR depth, that may help the PR as well.

      • j l says:

I agree completely. I get why bob did it, still dosent mean its not an issue though.

        • Maranatha846 says:

I’m glad you get why we fair caught all punts and didn’t block, cuz I still don’t get it. When you have 85 people plus walkons and you only have one guy you feel comfortable with fielding punts, you must have a bunch of recruiting bust.

          • j l says:

Not every skill guy can return punts, so the pool of players to choose from is already smaller than we think it is.

Yes, we have had some recruiting busts, that certainly didnt help any.

Quick had the dropsies in practice last year, mixon muffed 1 or 2 punts this year when he got a shot, so that leaves sanchez/shepard, neither of which we could afford to get hurt, and thus we went safe pretty much all year.

It sucks, but its the reality of the situation. Hopefully its being addressed this class.

          • Maranatha846 says:

There are plenty of guys on the team that can field and return punts. BS just doesn’t care about special teams which is considered 1/3 of the game. No excuse for what we do.

          • j l says:

Stoops has always fielded strong special teams units until this year. Saying he dosent care about special teams is an inaccurate statement.

You REALLY think he would intentionally neglect that unit? We just literally signed the #1 kicker /#2 punter last class. Guys that typically dont even get scholarships. We even gave a scholly to a long snapper

We had really crappy recruiting from 2009-2013, and its created some holes that are still being felt.

Do you think we make the playoffs if shepard got hurt on a punt return early in the season?

Im not saying that its not an issue, but its simply the reality of the situation. It will be corrected. Grabbing someone like jacobs, who isnt starting at rb or wr will go a long ways to fixing the issue.

          • soonermusic says:

just mho, but I think the punt return woes had more to do with inability to get the blockers to perform properly–same issue on kick returns. There were definitely times when they played and needed to play punt safe, and there were one or two times early on where shep could have tried a return but missed the read or got nervous or whatever and fair caught. I honestly have never seen any coaches treat punt returners as if there’s a concern for safety. Kick returners yes, but that’s a whole different situation. I agree with your response to the troll, that Bob pays attention to special teams, and I doubt that the situation will have escaped his notice. I look for major improvement this coming season.

  • BoomerDave says:

Had a chat with Oregon coach Helfrich and 3 of his assistants yesterday afternoon. They flew into town to visit with 2 recruits, but once he figured out that I was an OU fan and kept up with recruiting he wouldn’t tell me who they were here to see, although it wasn’t due to a lack of effort on my part! I’m figuring one was the QB Wilson out of Del City who de-committed from them. Not sure who the other would be. Perhaps Tramonda Moore? They were just here for 2.5 hours. Didn’t have time to drive very far from the metro.

  • SCKSChief says:

    Is it football season yet?

  • Dick Bump says:

Good stuff! Thanks for doing it!

  • Nate Broadus says:

Joshua Jacobs is one of those players that would be tragic to lose. He’s in our backyard. He’s been to OU, unofficially, over the years, so I imagine there is interest on his side.

Get it done. We can’t let this kid get away.

    • Kody K. says:

Agree, kid is a phenom. I watched him play and then checked out his offer list and could not believe the lack of offers. Better late than never though.

      • Nate Broadus says:

Sometimes players slip through the cracks. Wes Welker is one of the best slot receivers in the history of football, and his only offer out of high school was Texas Tech.

Barry Sanders was, arguably, the best to ever play the game, and he was an under-the-radar guy.

This is a chance to rectify both mistakes. OU could have had either one (Welker grew up a Sooner fan, iirc, as did Sanders (iirc, Billy Sims was the guy he emulated most growing up).

        • Kody K. says:

          Right, you are.

        • metzker says:

Welker was offered preferred walk on, we were out of schollies

          • Nate Broadus says:

Even Stoops has admitted he would like to have had that one back. That said, it worked out for both sides. OU won a championship and Welker went on to a long, successful career in college and the pros.

The point is, even the great players can often be overlooked. This just seems to be another one (and hopefully this time OU comes out on the winning side of it).

          • metzker says:

            O i agree with your point 100% .

        • AdamsHall says:

Re Welker and TTech, I also believe he did not get the offer until last minute after another player flipped to another team opening up a scholly. I believe he was set to walk-on at OU until that happened.

      • Johnny Greenlantern Otis says:

welker was on the front of the oklahoman as one of the states best players before the season started he just was small and got no love but he wasnt under the radar

        • Kody K. says:

And to think Art Briles recruited him to Tech at the time. Makes me sick. No excuse in missing on kids in your own back yard. His nickname was “The Natural” in college.

    • SoonerfanTU says:

While I don’t disagree, man, the kid had NO offers before this week. Was he a potential grade casualty or something?

      • Nate Broadus says:

He is the definition of a kid that slips through the cracks in recruiting. He plays for a small school that doesn’t get much press. His hs team is not good, to put it kindly.

Those kinds of kids only have one way of getting their name out there: camps.

Nobody knew who this kid was a few weeks ago. College coaches are responsible for piecing together a class of 20-30 with HUNDREDS of recruits to sift through. Sometimes, one guy slips by unnoticed.

    • hOUligan says:

It’s his if he wants to be a Sooner. Love getting Okie kids that are P5 good.

  • Rick says:

I’m sure most of you on twitter have already seen this, but I love to see a kid who is obviously excited to get an offer from OUr Sooners.

  • Maverick says:

Jacobs equals this year’s Dahu Green? I’ll take it. Can never have enough playmakers.

    • soonerinks says:

If he has good hands, he could truly be special similar to Bush. Competition that Bush played against was obviously much better but Joshua does have some special talents. His change of pace is excellent and he has good speed and vision.

    • hOUligan says:

Hopefully, they will need to buy another table and a new display case to hold next season’s hardware.

    • cush creekmont says:

He should have said, “biggest table we had, but still not room enough for OUr history.”

  • Mr. Jones says:

So did we ever figure out what the 2nd update was that Esco posted about?

  • Nate Broadus says:

The Chris Black situation has me chuckling.

If he came to OU, the air would be thick with irony. Norvell was criticized, in part, because he couldn’t develop a wr corp through high school recruiting. He had one playmaker and the Pips. His corps were aided by transfers all throughout his tenure.

So I aks you, wouldn’t it be tasty if transfers helped OU to get out of the hole he left the team in?

I could slather hot sauce all over that irony and eat it like a tamale.

    • Bob Edwards says:

That’s the kind of irony I would rather see happen to others rather than us.

    • Birddawg says:

Clemson practically shut us out in the Russell athletic bowl. We lost 5 games. Our offense had zero creativity. The offensive game plans were about has bland as card board. That’s where the criticism stemmed from. We were all looking at “why”..” “He can’t recruit… he cant call plays etc etc” We lost too many games and he was let go.
I honestly love the balance between transfers and hs talent.
Also, I thought Norvell did a good job recruiting the HS ranks..
      (so close to getting DGB)
      Sterling
      Duron
      Stills
      Andrews

It also tied in to our bonuses, this allowed the upper management people to get bigger bonuses. It is one reason I no longer am a part of corporate America!

Of course he is, the suckeyes are getting ready to offer. They can’t offer a 3 star. HA!

  • hOUligan says:

So viewing info over the last 24 hrs or so through my crimson colored glasses, looks like Guidry was told not to bother, as the staff is feeling good about Daniels. Still hoping for Southall. Guy is explosive. And I could abide any of the 3, Jackson, Bowen or Tupai at DE.

    • cush creekmont says:

Tupai is still visiting, so I believe he is “in play.” I want you to keep those glasses squarely focused on Mr. Kelly and make sure you see Mike and Kish right next to him :).

      • hOUligan says:

It be lookin’ like this up in here when Kelly finally faxes his LOI to Norman next week… Was super stoked about DeBerry and McGinnis last year. This year, Kelly and Youngquist.

        • KJ1123 says:

Kelly and Daniels would be nice…..Tupa’i would be a nice surprise for sure. One more week! And then we return to being bored…and fighting off trolls for about 6 months.

          • Rick says:

I always look forward to the spring game too. I know it doesn’t mean much, but I still enjoy it. Then go troll fightin’.

          • KJ1123 says:

Ah that’s true the spring game…I may make the trek out there and enjoy a little spring time in Norman.

          • Rick says:

I always try to find a 50 yard line seat about 15 rows up for the spring game. My wallet is not thick enought to afford it as a regular seat.

          • hOUligan says:

Think it was ‘boomerdave’, cannot recall, a couple of weeks ago that was saying he was going to work at getting a TFB meeting, maybe a tent, for the spring game. I’d work to get to Norman for that.

          • KJ1123 says:

Hey that would be pretty cool actually. A TFB tent….would be easier to coordinate for the spring game than regular season games.

          • hOUligan says:

Wish I could recall for sure. He was a regular during the season but got fed up w/ all of the bs around recruiting so is only lurking. Whoever….post a reply if you read this and let’s get it done!!!

          • hOUligan says:

I love Tupai’s film. Guy reminds me of Fotu Leiatu’s film last season. A missile.

          • metzker says:

            Calmus.

    • OUBmrSnr72 says:

Would love to believe the Guidry news but that wouldn’t explain why 2 OU coaches are visiting Stephon Taylor, former LSU DT commit today?

  • KJ1123 says:

    Dont you guys work? Geez

  • Rick says:

For those of you that were wondering if anyone would admit they received funds…

    https://twitter.com/comeback_sports/status/692087641014022145

    • KJ1123 says:

      NOT SURPRISED
I think ol Sims said the Texsa boosters were good to them…

      • Rick says:

Reading the story, he thought maybe LSU was in the clear, but maybe not.

        • KJ1123 says:

I cant imagine how this works?….”So I really like your school….but I can’t see myself walking to class from the dorms everyday”…..*wink *wink

          • Rick says:

I have an aquaintance that used to brag (while drinking) that an individual would show up at his business always taking a little sumpin’ with him in a plain white envelope. He was not an OU grad, this was another school. He used to say his continued season tickets were contingent on making sure the envelope had something in it when the individual arrived.

          • KJ1123 says:

            That’s crazy……

    • Clint Lenard says:

But earlier a poster said if Ole Mi$$ did this someone would eventually say something. Well, I’m sure they will years down the road.

      • Soonerfandave84 says:

Didn’t Arian Foster say he was given money while at Tennessee last year?

        • Clint Lenard says:

Yeah, that was even mentioned in that article. But there’s no way Ole Miss could be doing it, because they’re just so good that 5 star recruits want to play for them over teams that have actually won big games.

    • cush creekmont says:

Yeah, I mentioned this earlier to Soonerdave about why Miss might be cheating, but not get caught – I would do the whole SMH thing over this behavior, but my head hurts from all this.

  • Fear The Magic says:

    Just read this on 247
They have him 100% to OU for what its worth.

Where has Joshua Jacobs been? I’ve watched the running back from Tulsa (Okla.) McLain Academy for the first time on film and he is different. He’s got acceleration and burst with the ball in his hands unlike anyone else in this 2016 class. Though he’s on the small side, Jacobs runs with a physical mentality and isn’t scared to finish runs downhill. He’s been rated as a four-star by 247Sports and in a year bereft of elite running back talent, Jacobs would have become a highly recruited national prospect had his film emerged earlier.

Just one week ago it was Wyoming, Purdue and New Mexico fighting over Jacobs. Now Oklahoma has jumped in the mix and things should get interesting.

    • Tipman says:

It’s only 2 CB predictions unlike some elite prospects with 30+ predictions but it sounds promising for OU

    • Drew says:

It has to be his competition. I was at McLain a couple of weeks ago for my little brother’s bball game, and it’s not a big school. And with his competition being teams like Cascia Hall, it’s no surprise that no one gave him a look imo.

  • Rick says:

Wow, the NFL scouts are really praising up Shep today on twitter!

  • Jake says:

ALRIGHT: Joshua Jacobs has officially become the 2016 must-have “Unicorn” of this class.

    Go get ’em Sooners!

  • BoomerDave says:

Been following recruiting for 35-40 years and have never seen anyone blow up as late and as quickly as Joshua Jacobs. Went to bed Sunday with just a handful of no-name offers. Now he has Nick Saban and Urban Meyer scrambling to set up visits. Crazy!

    • rphokc says:

      saban is in it now?

      • BoomerDave says:

That’s what his coach said. Not definite, but was trying to fit an in-home into his schedule.

        • rphokc says:

kid’s head must be spinning (and his parents) with the suddeness of attention……..may not mean anything but he didn’t jump on the ou offer apparently

          • BoomerDave says:

Supposedly trying to decide where to take an official this weekend. Where he decides to visit is who he will sign with.

          • rphokc says:

yeah, I read that and it doesn’t make sense vis a vis the ‘normal’ way of deciding, but we’ll see

    • soonerborn says:

If Saban offers then hes a 5 star. Urban brought him to a 4 star

      • soonerthunder says:

Got that right! just a rumor of saban or a sec school would get a guy 4 stars. a visit by saban would be 5 stars for sure. that’s how these things work. get signed by saban, and the same guy, who would have been a 2 star or lower, will get him 6 stars for sure (they just don’t show up on our computers).

Like I heard Stoops say on radio show his first month as OU coach: “There’s a lot of good football players out there.”

  • Jefe says:

Any news or insight on a current OU LB on the roster potentially leaving OU or being ineligible?

  • Randy says:

Said this couple of months ago, no maybe we can get both (w Jacobs) ?

    Randy • 2 months ago

I still believe OU needs to take another RB in this class. Local kid, 4 star doesn’t matter.

    Next year :

    Perine – JR (draft eligible)

    Mixon – SO (draft eligible)

    Brooks – SR

    Ross – SR

Anderson – RSFR – coming off injury

    • KJ1123 says:

If Gallimore runs any faster he’ll be carrying the ball too

    • Jake says:

Take your facts elsewhere, Randy. There are trolls out today & they will come after you like white on rice for this heresy.

    • Tipman says:

Good call. Even if one between Mixon/Perine leaves, we are still very thin. It’s also well documented how the short-lived a RB’s career is in the NFL. Even if Perine or Mixon aren’t first round grades they still might want to leave

      • Randy says:

Yep, and the fact our best option (excluding Shepard) on offense were 2 RBs.. cant hurt having more.

        • Tipman says:

Perine also does not have anything left to prove; Mixon still has some work to do

          • Eddie and Amber says:

Perine seems more to me like the Shep type that would stay 4 years. Mixon not so much but with split time could definitely use a couple more years.

          • Tipman says:

Personality-wise, I agree but Shep came off an injured JR year and he had a chance to significantly increase his stock by returning (which he did). I’m not sure what else Perine has to prove or how much he can help his draft stock

          • Exiled In Ohio says:

BS will be the first to recommend to Samaje that he go after next season.

          • rphokc says:

I would think if perine can have a good/great yr and avoid serious injury he should take off if he wants to………he’s getting banged up and coming off surgery now……go get some bucks

          • KJ1123 says:

I think he’ll leave early too…his type of running style shortens his shelf life.

          • RBear says:

I think Perine’s Momma will make sure he gets his degree before going anywhere, if that happens in 3 years, maybe he’ll leave but not before the degree IMO.

          • Slim Sooner says:

Good point. Momma loves her baby boy. Think you’re right.

          • Rick says:

Both are obviously ultra talents, any NFL team would covet either to sign.

          • SoonerinLondon says:

Yep. I suspect Perine is gone and Mixon stays to be the big dog for a season.

  • OU Boomer says:

TOS moderator has been heavily hinting that we one of our LB’s is either transferring or getting the boot. Have you guys heard anything along those lines? Would help me understand the push for those two JUCOs.

    • Exiled In Ohio says:

Agree. Picking up Beal seemed very strange, given who all was still on the board. That’s not to say there’s anything wrong with Beal, but you build a program with HS kids.

    • Zack says:

      Did he mention which one?

      • OU Boomer says:

No, actually said he wouldn’t say. Just said that we should know by NSD why we are seeing all these LB offers. Certainly points to there being an issue with one of the 6 on roster currently.

  • OU Boomer says:

Also, any way to verify that Bowen’s father was pulled from his vehicle, searched and harassed by the Norman PD on his visit weekend?

  • KJ1123 says:

I heard Schmitty measured Julious at 6’4″….

    • Jake says:

Mannnnn. Way to make me miss Breaking Bad.

      • cush creekmont says:

Jake – you better call Saul (in February anyway).

        • Jake says:

Oh, I’m gonna call him- don’t you worry! Ha.

Not near Breaking Bad level, but ever since BB, these back stories regrading the characters are really entertaining to me.

      • SoonerinLondon says:

        God. No kidding.

I had serious withdrawal pains after the last episode. Sundays have not been the same.

Better Call Saul has some potential, and Narcos is worth the time, but nothing can top Breaking Bad.

        • Jake says:

No doubt, man. I’m looking forward to BCS Season #2 coming out though.

Completely different type of show, but have you watched Daredevil on Netflix?

          • SoonerinLondon says:

Haven’t tried Daredevil. I’m giving Man in the High Castle a try, on Amazon. Have only seen the first two, but I like the premise…Germany and Japan win WWII, so what is the US like with Germany running East of the Rockies and Japan running West.

          • Jake says:

That sounds pretty interesting. Daredevil, for a superhero show, is surprisingly good action. Doesn’t special-effects you to death. More plot & “real action”, and feels like a detective-vigilante show.

    • OU Boomer says:

Wow, considering most profiles online have him at 6’7″ or 6’8″, that is pretty sad.

  • Johnny Greenlantern Otis says:

watching this jacobs highlight tape is pretty wild he has some speed on em

  • RBear says:

Just going to throw this out there because it bothers the hell out of me- maybe it does others as well, dunno.

Jordan or whoever makes the call on stuff like this, would you consider disabling the ability to post gifs on this board?

The pages become cluttered with too much moving, nonsensical garbage to wade through IMO.

I’m sure there will be plenty of folks out there who disagree but gif images not only clutter the page but make the pages slower to load.

Just my preference, flame away if you must 😉

  • bmrsnr says:

Sounds like Alabama’s rb this class is having some grade problems, so Saban might make a pretty hard pitch to Jacobs.

  • Jeremy Phillips says:

looking forward to this weekend’s official visitor & junior day visitors list..

    • rphokc says:

perhaps b/c events are happening so quickly, but haven’t seen any quotes about anything from jacobs

  • CrimsonNative says:

That picture of Stoops at Jacob’s school looks like he’s telling the story of when he first saw Jacob’s film, “are you kidding me, you guys haven’t offered this guy yet?”

    • RBear says:

yeah, you can click on the pic and even zoom it bigger by clicking on it again if you want- he definitely looks like he’s wowed.

  • SoonerDesigner says:

Has the Zach Farrar offer come and gone or is that still a possibility? Visit lined up?

    • Johnny Greenlantern Otis says:

man all over his twitter is MSU stuff so i think he woul dbe hard to flip at this point

  • RBear says:

Love this Crystal Ball prediction from Demetric Warren:

    http://247sports.com/Player/Joshua-Jacobs-88328

    • hOUligan says:

Jacobs photo next to definition of ‘blowing up’. Came across he had just over 800 yds on 76 carries and 12 TDs in 1st 4 games his JR year before getting injured. Think that is another reason he is relatively unknown. Grab that OU offer and run, J.J.

  • j l says:

Crazy how jacobs came from nowhere to a top 300 player in what seems like a matter of hours.

  • Jordan Esco says:

    update added

  • SemperfiSooner says:

Not sure how to decipher Farrar’s twitter post with a ? and eyeballs. Is it the offer has him questioning his commitment to msu and looking at OU or what? Anyone have thoughts?

    • Zack says:

There’s no telling but from everything that’s been said about farrar so far i expect ou will make a big impression during the visit.

  • Maranatha846 says:

Man I’m sure not one to decipher Twitter code. Have to ask a youngen. Ha

  • Jason Vos says:

Didn’t know Lincoln Riley was that tall. Farrar is definitely at least 6’3 going off that pic

  • Patvan says:

I think it means he has some questions about Oklahoma would like to take a look

  • Brien Brown says:

In all fairness to a lot of Oklahoma prep RB’s there is some real studs that don’t get talked about cause of classification or team is not very good. People have argued with me that a top kid in C-2A wouldn’t make a difference on a Jenks or Union, but that is just belief, I am sure that they may not end up being a stud RB at a larger school but whos to say they wouldn’t with a much more improved line and you can’t teach quickness. Same goes for some of these small school QB’s! Diamonds in the rough I tell ya and there is some big boys that play the O-Line and D-Lines that get overlooked not just OK preps but a lot of places!

    • blaster1371 says:

Didn’t the freshman running back for Iowa State come out of Oklahoma? I think he got about 1300 yards rushing this season.

      • Brien Brown says:

Mike Warren, yes sir he did! Played ball for Lawton according to 247 he was the 620th ranked player in the Nation ranked the 38th best RB in the Nation and the 9th best player int he state of OK!

        • J J says:

Saw him play twice last year, he’s got stuff you don’t teach… Hard to quantify but he was easily best player on the field both games

          • Brien Brown says:

He looked good for ISU no doubt this year. I am surprised he got out of the state mean considering OSU’s lack of running game this past year and the fact that TU can’t continue to miss on in state talent like him year to year!

  • Doobie74OU says:

Zach Farrer is a BIG kid!

  • Sooner Ray says:

After an evening of loading and hauling a bull to a new pasture of eager and willing females, I was hoping to come home to a new boom. The wait continues. Jacobs and Farrar are moving up on my want list.

  • Sooner Ray says:

After an evening of loading and hauling a bull to a new pasture of eager and willing females, I was hoping to come home to a new boom. The wait continues. Jacobs and Farrar are moving up on my want list.

  • Kanfdog says:

Can anyone explain how New Mexico and Wyoming saw Joshua Jacobs film but everyone else missed him? How does it happen that Bama, tOSU and OU are all the sudden going after a guy with days left until NSD that it seems even Tulsa didn’t know existed in their own backyard? I mean is it still the high school coaches job to get his film out and that guy dropped the ball? Jacobs hasn’t played a snap in over 2 months. Did a service finally get ahold of his film or something?

    • Sooner Ray says:

      Can’t explain.

    • Bob Edwards says:

A lot of four and five start guys get noticed because they play the game well. They get their film out early, go to camps, etc. My guess is he didn’t. He played on a mediocre team (6-5) and had a decent but not great junior year. Then he blew up his senior year. Probably his coaches didn’t do a lot to tout him. He’s also on the small side. Probably just a combination of things. I don’t know for sure, but those are the kind of things that keep a kid from getting noticed.

      • Kanfdog says:

Ok, that makes sense. Thanks. But then how does every school somehow find him with 10 days to go? Did some service pick up his film and all the schools pay for that service? How did everyone find the diamond in the rough at about the same time?

        • Sooner Ray says:

That’s how the game works. When a blue blood offers a 3 star, they instantly jump to a 4 star. Word gets around.

        • Bob Edwards says:

Film gets out or one of the bigs show interest. Everyone is watching everyone else. Why did no one offer Baker Mayfield a scholly? A quarter of a million HS football players graduate every year. Some needles get lost in the haystack.

      • BigJoeBrown says:

I recall Super K mentioning it one time, that what really helps is going to camps. Various camps across the states, where coach’s attended.

    • Martin says:

My limited understanding is that his only film went out about 10 days ago.

  • bmrsnr says:

Its being reported that Jacobs mentor told Alabama reporters that the tide is the team he wants to play for. Any truth to this?

  • rphokc says:

re jacobs…….interesting comment from the bama link shown below……..

“Rushed for 2,704 yards and 36 touchdowns his senior season. One of his mentors told me last night the reason he hasn’t received more attention is because he didn’t hit the camp circuit very hard and “Oklahoma and Oklahoma State did a poor job of recruiting their own state.”
Big programs are starting to take notice, as Ohio State requested his transcripts, Missouri is expected to offer this week and Arkansas inquired for more information. OU and Ok. St. are also showing increased interest as well.
Jacobs is on Alabama’s radar and there is a chance the staff will travel to Oklahoma to see him this week.
The mentor told me yesterday that Alabama is the school he wants to play at and he believes Jacobs could be a great compliment back to Bo Scarbrough next year with legit 4.4 speed. Also runs a 10.5 in the 100. “

  • TSFFKAG says:

Will Z. Farrar wait till Feb 3rd to sign with reveal his OUDNA?

  • Stephen Gribble says:

I still think we are missing out on great in-state talent. Not sure why, but there are so many kids here undervalued. Taven Birdow from Altus won almost every award and title you can earn in high school and the kids best offer is Navy? Those are the kids we need to add to the big names, the ones who are dying for the chance and offer from OU. They will fight and work!
