First off, I (Brandon) would like to thank all of you for the kind words and prayers sent my way this past week. Baby Kyler is doing great and we are loving every minute of having two boys in the Drumm house.

– Mike Williams: I caught up with 2016 defensive tackle Mike Williams out of Fort Worth. If you’re a twitter guy/gal and follow recruits, you’ll notice Williams’ avi is a picture of him wearing an OU jersey and helmet. So I asked Williams about it, and he told me he loves OU’s alternate uniforms saying, “it’s a good look.” We got to talking about new defensive line coach Diron Reynolds, and Williams at one point said, “he (Reynolds) has swag like coach Montgomery.” In fact, Reynolds was in Fort Worth this past week to see Williams and will be making a second trip this coming week as well. Williams has offers from all over the country, but made it clear that he is high on the Sooners and has been for a while. – (Brandon)

– DeMarkus Acy: I recently spoke with 2016 OU DB offer DeMarkus Acy (Dallas, TX), whose name is starting to get out in the recruiting world. We talked about some of the schools he’s high on, OU being one of them, even saying that he feels as though the Sooners are one of his highest profile offers. – (Alex)

– Diron Reynolds in Texarkana: I spoke to 2016 DT Nick McCann (Arkansas HS in Texarkana) and 2017 DE Lagaryonn Carson (Liberty-Eylau in Texarkana), both of whom said that  Reynolds stopped by to see them yesterday. McCann said the first-year OU d-line coach will be back to see him again in a couple weeks.

As mentioned in the OP last Friday, we continue to hear Reynolds’ name more and more on the recruiting trail…which was not the case a month ago. So it seems as though he was simply working to set up a plan of attack and learning about the recruits within his region. – (Super K)

– Levi Draper: Mike Stoops dropped by Collinsville yesterday to see 2017 LB, Levi Draper. An offer was not extended, but it’s obviously a good thing Draper is on OU’s radar enough to attract the DC. Draper tells me that he is also expecting Michigan, Stanford & Arizona State to come out and visit him next week with Vanderbilt (who has offered) the following week. – (Brandon)

– Teton Saltes: Last week we introduced you to 2016 DE Teton Saltes out of New Mexico. Since then Saltes has received his first couple high major FBS offers (Washington State and Iowa State) and has a number of schools set to visit soon. One of the those schools that was planning a visit is Oklahoma. The original visit was scheduled for this past week, but I spoke with Saltes’ coach who told me that things had to be rescheduled. The plan now is for Mike Stoops to stop by this coming Monday.

Saltes’ coach said M.Stoops told him they were high on Teton, and on film he looked like a kid that could definitely play for OU. Hopefully that means an offer is in the works. As we mentioned last week, Saltes already has family ties to the state of Oklahoma. Which one would have to presume can only help OU’s chances (should they indeed offer). – (Super K)

    First POST. #BOOM

You are growing strong in the force young padawan. Even though you use that time difference to your advantage.

      • bjwalker82 says:

but… The time difference shouldn’t reeeeallly matter. The post hits the internet at a single moment in time. Unless…..are you in the Middle East? Asia?

        • Jared William Reininger says:

Well he is in BAHSTAN which is an hour ahead, and I mean an hour is an hour, I mean I know this one came up at like 11 or whatever, but he has got first on a few that were early in the morning cause he was awake and I was still asleep.

  • Captain Obvious says:

You know today is Wednesday right? 🙂

  • Tyler Ray Piper says:

    Wednesday open post not tuesday

  • John Garner says:

We still haven’t offered Draper? I have to scratch my head about that and ask why?

    • McKinzie says:

I am definitely with you in this line of thinking. Local kid. Big time talent. Fills position need. PULL THE TRIGGER.

      • John Garner says:

Amen, brother. You don’t have to know a lot about football to see that Draper is a D-1 talent. And down the street from Norman. What is KIsh and brother Mike waiting for? If Bama is knocking at the door, we should be inside offering.

        • BoomerDave says:

If he’s such a big time talent that has you scratching your head wondering why we havent offered yet, then where are all the other big time offers? Perhaps his overwhelming talent isn’t as obvious as you may think. Trust the coaches please.

          • Boom says:

Agree. Interesting, if he was from Ohio, would we be saying the same. I doubt it and he needs more evaluation IMO. I think we do go after him but want to see his progress from year to year.

          • John Garner says:

Well, he’s a 2017 prospect so I figure that’s the primary reason OU is being patient. As for big time offers, don’t see any except Louisville. They just put 10 players into the NFL so I also figure they know something about talent. I trust the coaches. Kish more than Mike when it comes to LBs. But I still think Draper is OU good. Another Jordan Evans.

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Yeah Louisville has 29 players in the NFL…more than Okie Lite…

    • Sooner Ray says:

Yep, a want and a need.

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

For two years now, OU LB coaches (Kish/MS) visit people and do not offer. I guess we have to trust them since they did get what they needed last year.

      • John Garner says:

I do trust them. I just don’t understand them. Homegrown talent like Levi doesn’t come around that often. Almost all of our national award winners under Stoops like the Heisman and whatnot have been homegrown talent.

  • Jeremy Phillips says:

Anything on the Georgia ’17 offers from yesterday..?

  • wynwilliams64 says:

I saw that Coach Reynolds stopped in to see McTelvin Agim yesterday. Is that door completely shut or do you guys think Reynolds can get OU back in with Agim? Thanks guys!

    • Jdizzle says:

I am glad he is trying. I know he liked Monty, but no sense “crying in the breast milk” (Dodgeball quote). Reynolds, when recruits see that he knows what he is doing in coaching 3-4 D-lineman, will start to get in on more big-time recruits.

    • Super K says:

Brandon talks to him…seems there is still some interest but how much is the question

      • wynwilliams64 says:

Yeah, apparently Agim is a hard guy to get a lot out of. Regardless, I love hearing that Reynolds seems to be putting in the time now! Would be huge if he could give us at least 3/4 of the recruiting Monty gave us.

  • stfaulk says:

I wish Coach Reynolds would have let me know he was in town, so we could have had lunch, lol

Thanks for the update Brandon, glad you’re son is doing well…Oh and thanks for the recruiting news too guys!

    • SoonerfanTU says:

Maybe I’m out of the loop, but what construction? I didn’t think any of it was starting until after the 2015 season ended.

  • SavageSoonerEsq says:

    Teton Saltes…what a great name.

  • Sooner Ray says:

Great news about Brandon’s family. Makes this football stuff seem small.

  • John McCroskey says:

Demarkus Acy’s other offers are Arkansas State, Taco Tech, KSU, and KU.

  • Jordan Esco says:

    update added

  • hOUligan says:

Been waiting to hear Coach Reynolds name out more. And good to hear Williams say he has ‘swag’ LIKE COACH MONTGOMERY. Any comparison is not a bad thing. Keep hearing he has the personality and that he is maybe a better technician. Lot of good kids in Arky this year: Agim, McCann, Cameron Murray, Diondre Thomas.

  • RBear says:

Eyes to the skies, be safe out there in the Norman, Moore, S OKC areas.

    • OohRah Mama says:

What’s going on at home (Norman)? Is there a tornado on the ground?

      • Sooner Ray says:

From what I have gathered from the news….a tornado was on the ground earlier in a rural area and the storm is passing over I-35 area between Norman and Moore and is rotating but no confirmed funnel at this time.

        • OohRah Mama says:

*shakes head* Welcome to Oklahoma, new coaches…

          • Sooner Ray says:

They are now showing damage in North Norman where a brief tornado spun up and did some damage. Haven’t heard of any injuries or worse to people thank God.

          • OohRah Mama says:

Thanks, dear. You can take the girl out of Oklahoma, but you can’t take Oklahoma out of the girl…

      • RBear says:

Was on the ground SW of Norman and continued NE between Moore and N Norman– only hearing of power outages, downed trees and some structural damage at this point, not hearing of any injuries.
