Kapri Doucet: As most of you know by now Oklahoma recently offered JUCO LB Kapri Doucet (Lackawanna CC) following Dom Alexander’s declaration for the draft (fwiw, I’m told the decision to declare was made shortly before the bowl game). Doucet was committed to Arizona but re-opened his recruitment earlier this week when Zona’s DC/LB coach, Jeff Casteel, was let go. Doucet is also teammates with Oklahoma JUCO OT signee Ashton Julious.

I spoke with one of Doucet’s coaches at Lackawanna, who said that Doucet is “big time interested” in Oklahoma. Doucet’s coach said the 2016 LB had already taken one official visit Arizona and has three additional officials scheduled at this time: Lousiville, West Virginia & Southern Miss. The coach couldn’t say whether Doucet has yet scheduled a visit to Oklahoma, but based on what he said about Doucet’s interest I’d be surprised if the Sooners don’t receive that fifth and final official visit.

Doucet is originally from Virginia and his coach says he seems most interested in Oklahoma and West Virginia at the moment, though there is still real interest in Arizona (sounds like he’s waiting to see who they hire).

I asked Doucet’s coach where his player falls in terms of the best LBs he’s coached. “Top 3,” is where he put him, saying Doucet is up there with Quinton Coples (Miami Dolphins) and Josh Francis (former WVU LB). Coach said that Doucet is “really good of the edge” which you can see on film, but another thing you can see on film is that Doucet is a great athlete who is probably relying a lot on his athleticism right now. He’ll need to continue to develop technically as a LB in terms of recognition and hand usage, but the raw tools are certainly there. – (Super K)

– Chris Daniels: For those of you who may not know yet, just wanted to pass on something Andrew reported on our Texas site. 2016 OU commit Chris Daniels let Andrew know that he will take an official visit to Texas on January 15th. Daniels’ uncle played college ball with Charlie Strong, and Daniels’ father did tell me they have a lot of family ties to coach Strong from back in Arkansas.

The 15th will be a big recruiting weekend for the Longhorns as many of the top players from the state of Texas will be on campus (Brandon Jones, Jeffrey McCulloch, etc.). Although Daniels will take a couple more visits after his trip to Austin, if the Sooners can hold off Texas then I suspect they’ll be sitting pretty come signing day. – (Super K)

– Jared Mayden: Some pretty interesting news came across the wire as we were editing today’s OP when talented 2016 CB Jared Mayden announced via his Twitter account that he’d decommitted from Oregon.

https://twitter.com/MaydenII/status/684762147801333760

You’ll probably recall the name for a number of reasons: Mayden has been talked about repeatedly on TFB, he is an OU legacy, and he has a younger brother who is a 2018 QB prospect the Sooners have expressed some interest in.

It will be interesting to see if the Sooners can re-insert themselves into the things with Mayden as they are still looking to fill at least one more DB spot in this 2016 class, especially after the departure of Zack Sanchez.

– UPDATE (2:43 pm): Assuming this report is accurate, it would appear the Sooners will indeed get that fifth official visit from Doucet.

    I have a bad feeling about Daniels….hope I’m wrong.

    • SamSooner says:

      That’s heartburn.

      • cush creekmont says:

Post holiday dieting can cause that – along with anxiety and excessive concern of the future plans of 18 year old fellows.

    • Defend Colfax says:

I hope you’re wrong too but I would feel fairly confident about a flip if the roles were reversed. Even our longhorn sister site is selling hope for the horns.

    • Stephen Dale says:

agree and UT may be in the mix for the Oregon decommit–Mayden , as well……

  • Jeremy Phillips says:

Is Doucet just a body or do we expect him to contribute right away..? Also how does he affect other LB offers? Any word on Chip Viney & what his expectations are this spring?

    • Super K says:

I think he has a lot of talent. But would expect there to be a transition period just looking to know what to see and react to. But the upside is there.

    • Atlantasooner says:

His highlight reel on HUDL is pretty damn good. Even has some pass coverage highlights which is very rare. At this stage with DA leaving, he’s well worth an offer.

    • Stephen Dale says:

one site lists him at 6-0 and another at 6-2……one site called another ‘Striker’ which may mean he is a one dimensional pass rusher without pass coverage skills . anybody seen tape of this guy other than Atlanta Sooner ?

  • Atlantasooner says:

Sadly, I don’t think OU has a chance at Mayden. He looking to leave the area.

    • Super K says:

Hearing FSU and Ohio State but am digging. Alex is reaching out to the family

    • Mr. Jones says:

I don’t think it’s a big hit if he goes elsewhere with OU already having Parker and Cobb in the fold.

  • Big Tiddays says:

Where there is smoke there’s a fire. Daniels is gone and don’t even play the if OU can hold off Texas card. Every time a kid who has committed and decided to take a few more trips has left. OU should applaud the kid for making their decision easy by moving on and getting a recruit who is ALL IN with no jellyfish spine. If they waiver before a single workout with Smitty, do you really think they’ll put in 100% day in day out.

    • rainydaze114 says:

I wouldn’t say every time. On the flipside though, OU has been able to flip a lot of talent from other schools using the same method.

  • Swanny says:

Daniels has been planning this all along, correct? He said before he committed that he planned on taking all of his visits. Should be interesting down the stretch though.

    • Big Tiddays says:

Why commit to OU then go visit OU’s rival?

      • Stephen Dale says:

con OU into a sense of complacency so the Sooners would quit recruiting other THEN roll over to Texas ? I agree with Big Tiddays in the next post below .

      • soonersd says:

Free Vacay, friends that are going, etc … I would too. I’ve partied in Austin several times and I would take that visit in a heartbeat, regardless of where I was committed.

      • Swanny says:

He said he was going to before he committed. Idk why, but this isn’t that big of news. This is a rivalry once you get here. Adrian Peterson was a strong Texas lean until the shootout, turned the tide, then he committed at the Army game. Kids don’t view this like the fans.

  • Mizuno44 says:

With the new era of social media and reputation of the millennial generation, recruiting rules should be restructured to allow schools to accept binding, letters of intent for anyone who commits before National Signing Day. Verbal commitments mean nothing anymore.

    • Big Tiddays says:

      Yep.

    • MrBigsby says:

      They’ve never meant anything.

      • Mizuno44 says:

I believe they did in previous eras. Now we’re dealing with the Generation Z, kids born starting in the mid-90’s onward, with too many influences other than a school’s recruitment process. The kids are using the verbal commitments these days to “save their spot”, putting schools in a precarious position by not knowing whether or not verbals turn into LOI’s. Schools need the time flippers waste to pursue legitimate bodies, so if you say you’re coming here, sign this piece of paper. NSD should be the LAST day you can sign, not the first.

        • Bob Edwards says:

Or at least have a couple of signing periods during the year. Maybe one in August before the HS season and one right after in December.

        • MrBigsby says:

Kids have backed out of Verbal Commitments as long as there have been verbal commitments. We just hear about it more now because of social media. Back in Switzer’s days, you really didn’t know much about a class until signing day because coaches couldn’t talk about them. Now kids are pulling hats on ESPN or various “all star” games that are nationally televised, posting pics and info on Twitter, Intagram, SnapChat, etc. I think they need an early signing period like basketball. It would be good for the kids too, because they could focus on their senior year (academics mainly) and not be bothered with umpteen reporters, fans, coaches, slimeball agents and the like contacting them daily.

        • Amayetli says:

I don’t really enjoy the argument or get why we are critical about these kids making verbal to just hold their spot or when they change their mind.

They are kids, not adults and just image dealing with all the hounding and whatnot that goes around it.

Plus their goal is to put themselves in the best position to succeed because if they don’t it could mean the difference between NFL and bench at times. Universities aren’t at risk like these kids, a university will always have a future, they will always be functioning whether a kids goes there or backs out.

Universities also offer scholly and then take them away, that affects a kid much more dramatically than the other way around. So to be honest it is the kids job to be selfish because they only get one or two shots to get it right, if not that could mean a life of 9-5 or a life on Sundays.

          • Mizuno44 says:

Then skip my posts entirely, but thanks for the lecture.

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

The hounding amounts to “Come to my place and I’ll give you room and board, two free meals and 150,00 scholarship which will earn you about 100,00 a year for the rest of your life.” You mean that kind of hounding?

    • Maverick says:

Yeah the problem with that is the schools change. Not a kid’s fault if the position coach or head coach leave. They shouldn’t be bound in that case, or a million other cases.

Kids are kids. They don’t change nearly as much we perceive.

    • Stephen Dale says:

agree with you but swiping other schools recruits are what schools in the Little 12-2 do best.. OU might not get 10 quality athletes a year with such a restructure………..

  • Big Tiddays says:

I just can’t wrap my head around OU not being able to close some solid 4 or 5 start DTs. OUr defense with two solid run stoppers would be unstoppable.

  • Big Tiddays says:

I know recruiting has picked up. But playing in the CFP should open a few more doors before signing day. I really hope OU can close and have a top 10 or better class.

  • ruasoonerfan2 says:

What’s everybody think about Dalton Woods walking on. Hoping he makes it, tremendous talent if he can get his personal life straight.

    • Bob Edwards says:

I will be happy for the young man if he does. He has a lot to overcome to get straightened out. To date, he appears to have been making a lot of poor choices. He is putting himself under a lot of pressure to go to school and walk on in football at the same time. He is going to need to start making the right choices and that change is hard overnight, especially when there are consequences of prior choices that still have to be dealt with. I hope he ends up being successful at OU, but more important I hope he gets his life straightened out.

    • Big Tiddays says:

Only time will tell. But if he sticks through the first year, I think he will be here for the long haul. He only made his situation harder by losing his scholarship.

    • metzker says:

Is he on campus?Believe it when i see it. refresh

    • Walter Sobcek says:

Would love to see him focus on football and school and make a contribution.

      • SoonerOracle737 says:

I would too, but he has to stop digging and put down the shovel. He might benefit from just being able to talk to someone who can help guide him. If any coach can do this, it is Stoops.

    • DCinAZ says:

I moved on from Dalton Woods and plan to stay in that mindset. He seems like a trainwreck.

      • BoomerDave says:

Let’s see…you called him a “poorly raised train wreck” in the News Daily today, and now this. Can you just quit with the trashing of our players? You trashed Kyler Murray even worse than Dalton. Both kids want to be Sooners, and more importantly the coaches really want both kids to be here. So can we just grow up, accept the decision our coaches have made, recognize that Dalton has made a mistake early in life and now he is ready to make a better life for himself. You don’t know anything about Dalton or Murray, so let’s just keep your made up assumptions about them to yourself. We’ve been told often that recruits read our posts, so I think it is a good policy to not trash either current or potential Sooners.

        • metzker says:

Dave should i delete my big foot picture?

          • BoomerDave says:

No, actually Big Foot is funny, because he has been this mythical/mysterious guy. I just don’t know one can arrive at “poorly raised train wreck” after reading the story and explanation. Almost every decent human being would have fought for the near kid like he did.

          • metzker says:

Agree with ya wish him the best

        • DCinAZ says:

I’ll stop “trashing our players” if you stop stalking and obsessively trashing posters for posting things you disagree with, while trying to moderate a forum you’re not a moderator of. Deal?

          • BoomerDave says:

It’s not a matter of whether I agree or disagree with you. Some things are better left unsaid in a public forum. You’re obviously gonna continue to do what you’re gonna do, but I guess I just don’t get the need some people have to trash 18-19 year old kids, especially under a forum username. To each their own however.

        • Hartshorne Miner says:

          Amen

      • Stephen Dale says:

      • RBear says:

I think he’ll surprise- was glad to hear that he understood that family comes first- now that the issue is resolved, he can rededicate himself

  • j l says:

I dont get why UT would wait until so late in the process to offer a kid with ties to the head coach.

They didnt get a DT last year after the lampkin debacle, and daniels is the highest rated DT they had a legit shot at.

    • SoonerfanTU says:

It is kind of strange, no?

      • j l says:

        Strange AND frustrating.

Even if they had landed oliver and/or elliot, daniels is still an easy take. Hes quick enough to play on the edge in a 3 man front.

Maybe they are just trying to stick it to us, wouldnt put it past them.

      • Stephen Dale says:

not strange at all……….Strong waited to generate the greatest interest among the fan base , knowing full well, his ties to the family would allow him instant credibility with the recruit.

  • SoonerGoneEast says:

If we could get Mayden, this would be the second time we’ve broken the hearts of Oregon fans in the 2016 class. They were almost certain they had Youngquist last summer until they didn’t and he committed to OU. It doesn’t make up for 2006, but I couldn’t think of a more irritating collection of douchebags anymore deserving than Duck fans, especially given their defensive woes.

    • DCinAZ says:

It’s shocking how Oregon has made so many inroads in recruiting in Texas.

    • MrBigsby says:

Can’t think of a more irritating collection of douchebags? Hell, Baylor is IN our conference!!!!

      • SoonerGoneEast says:

Good Call, I should edit it to read, “I couldn’t think of a more irritating collection of douchebags at the very moment I was typing, than Duck fans.”

        • SCKSChief says:

Allen Patrick STILL has the ball, btw.

          • SamSooner says:

That whole crew should have been fired following the season, not suspended.

          • MoJoOkie says:

If by “following the season” you mean on the spot, I agree. Still got AP’s picture on my office wall, holding the ball up while those buffoons searched the pile for it.

          • SamSooner says:

            “Buffoons,” funny.

I initially thought on the spot but I didn’t know if that would have put them in a bind for the rest of the season, as far as having a crew to call every game. I was being generous.

          • MoJoOkie says:

I figured you thought they needed notice. On the spot or end of the season, the end needed to come, but as I recall, the replay guy got a promotion (well and purported death threats, which even in my demented humor seamed a bit over the top).

          • SamSooner says:

Are you going soft on me?

            Seriously, that was inexcusable.
And if I’m Belotti, I would forfeit that win. I lost respect for him after he watched the replay and wouldn’t come clean. He could have said this: “I know that we are not supposed to criticize officials. I know the Pac 10 is going to punish me. But in good conscience, I can’t accept this win. The officials got it wrong.”

          • MoJoOkie says:

Yep, just say well we stole that one or some such.

          • lefty67 says:

It would’ve been nice if they’d gotten EITHER. The head ref that day was promoted to Coordinator of Officiating for the entire conference the next season.

          • SamSooner says:

            Lofty standards, I see.

          • lefty67 says:

About as high as ESPN, apparently. He’s now one of their in-studio “rules experts.”

          • SamSooner says:

Well, that’s par for the course.

      • pitbull17 says:

Ding, Ding, Ding. We’ve got a winner here!

    • Zack says:

I don’t think mayden is coming to ou unless we tell motley to take a walk.

      • Stephen Dale says:

OU doesn’t need Mayden unless one of the DB commits decommits……….more important needs elsewhere to use the remainder of the ‘ships’…’

  • bigrackhunter says:

    • hOUligan says:

Kids at this level should be accustomed to the off-season grind. I’m sure they can also see how close they came to achieving all of their goals and what it’s going to take to get to ‘the top’. Back into the weight room and turn it over to Coach Schmidt and Miss Tiff.

  • KJ1123 says:

Mayden…”I’m just looking for a school that has a good tradition and stable coaches,” he told Bleacher Report’s Damon Sayles. “I’m trying to go somewhere and win, but it’s really going to depend on how I feel about the coaching staff.” Sounds like OU to me but we may not have enough spots left.

  • Jeff says:

    I see uterus flipping Daniels

  • hOUligan says:

OU pursued Mayden and he apparently felt like he didn’t fit, then. What would happen to change his mind now? Hoping Daniels is basically doing a ‘courtesy’ visit to appease his parents and a family friend. He said he was taking visits during his ‘commitment’ interview so haven’t been counting on him fully but he seems like an intelligent, squared away young man so hoping he feels the OUDNA while on the visits.

    • DCinAZ says:

30 days isn’t a lot of time to flip a guy that already made up his mind. Charlie better put on a helluva show for that to happen.

      • Stephen Dale says:

Charlie is a longtime family friend as well as a college teammate of Daniels’s dad. Charlie may not need anymore time than one day to flip Daniels….After OU getting Lampkin last September, you can bet Strong will be selling early playing time as a lure to turn him…………

Seems like with the current players on scholarship and the commits we currently have, we’re at around 81. So maybe 5 more players to take or so. Everyone agree this looks like our possible commits to finish out?
    Jared Mayden

    Elysee Mbem-Bosse
    Marcel Southall
    Amani Bledsoe
    Johncarlo Valentin
    Tramonda Moore
    EJ Price
    Willie Allen
Whatever happened to Dontavious Jackson (LB out of TX)? Seemed like we were high on him early on but I haven’t heard anything all season about him.

    • Soonerfan24 says:

Mark Jackson, Quartney Davis and Velus Jones are still interested

    • SamSooner says:

Self-promoter. Not someone I want to play at OU.

    • blaster1371 says:

Of those you listed and Soonerfan24 mentioned I would say OU should definitely take Southall, Kelly, Moore and Jones. If only two more scholarships were available I would hop OU to spend them on one more linebacker and WR.

    • Brien Brown says:

Mayden 50%, Kelly 99%, Bosse 20%, Southall 99%, Bledsoe 75%, Valentine 25%, Moore 99%, Price 33%, Allen 25%, Little 25%, Burton 33%, M. Jackson 50% (I think he likes us but dad wants him somewhere else) Q. Davis 33% (he knows he works hard could play as a FR), and Velus Jones 75% (think he has been a Sooner at heart just last min details scared him)

      • Mr. Jones says:

I’d go higher percentage on Davis and lower percentage on Allen, but pretty much agree with the rest.

      • Fear The Magic says:

I see a lot of optimistic percentages here. Id be more like Mayden 15% Kelly90% Price 25% Little 20% Burton 15% M Jackson 50% Velus Jones 60%
        Southall 80% Bledsoe 80% Moore 75%.

Well Mean anything less than 50% isn’t to optimistic. BUTTTTTTTTTTTT, your saying there’s a chance!!!!!

        • Brien Brown says:

BTW we made the final 5 for Burton so at least go 20%

          • Fear The Magic says:

I wouldnt say that puts it at 20%. Its pretty widely believed that he’ll end up on the west coast. If we made his final 5 I think we’re more of a filler pick. Just my opinion of course.

          • Brien Brown says:

Stop being a negative Nancy just cause we lost to Clemson doesn’t mean the world is ending. I think we will end up with 6 of the kids above and possibly Doucet!

          • Fear The Magic says:

Im not a negative Nancy at all and my percentages have nothing to do with the Clemson game. Theyre mostly derived from interviews and things in general that I read on these kids.

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

So we will have a shitty class? Is that what you are getting at chicken freaking little?

            Said by D Hunter
“So we will have a shitty class? Is that what you are getting at chicken freaking little?”

lol wow what hostility. I never said anything about us having a bad class. Those are just my percentage predictions. I still think that our class will be pretty good overall.
You need to lighten up bro lol.

Edit: Ok now you deleted your post?

    • John Garner says:

Moore, Mayden, Southall, Valentin and Kelly would be awesome gets. Keeping Daniels would be as well.

  • blaster1371 says:

I would have thought that if Texass had been a keen interest of Daniels that he would have committed to them by now. However, I am concerned about him visiting the weekend a bunch of other blue chippers are visiting. I can see Strong putting on his best dance and give them “together we can change this program back to its glory days” speech and several commit as a group. Texass is shallow at DT and DE and early playing time is a good possibility. Strong seems committed to get his recruits in there as soon as possible and put Mack’s guys on a shelf.

    • Daryl says:

Anytime a kid is visiting other schools you have to wonder but the fact that he committed after Texas offered is a good sign. Also when interviewed after said that he was solid to OU but wanted to experience other places. Heck his parents even had an OU custom cake for his announcement. When you bring cake into things it gets real.

    update added

  • Mizuno44 says:

Edited. How do the Football Brainiac edition staff writers break out, who covers who?

    • Jordan Esco says:

      huh?

      • QuestFor8 says:

I think he is implying they haven’t post anything for quite sometime…

        • BoomerDave says:

I didn’t take it that way at all, but to be honest I’m not sure what he was asking either. Lol!

          • Mizuno44 says:

Glad to see you are miffed, seems you’re crouched and ready to pounce more times than not

          • BoomerDave says:

Obviously you are too stupid to comprehend. I actually was sticking up for you against QuestFor8. SMH.

          • Mizuno44 says:

I was actually just kidding, but now you’ve played the stupid card and turned my joke into reality

          • QuestFor8 says:

Wasn’t trying to bash him, just my interpretation of his initial question.

      • Mizuno44 says:

Not a brain teaser, I noticed Andrew posts on the Texas Brainiac site, and since we never see write ups from many of the others, it poses the question of whether they post elsewhere or if they’re fictitious

  • Kyle Boone says:

Doucet from the same JUCO as Ashton Julious, no?

    • Brien Brown says:

Yes! Doucet was committed to Arizona but re-opened his recruitment earlier this week when Zona’s DC/LB coach, Jeff Casteel, was let go. Doucet is also teammates with Oklahoma JUCO OT signee Ashton Julious.

      • Mizuno44 says:

I see fact checking in your future.

        • Brien Brown says:

Well it easy when it’s already in the article 🙂

        • paganpink says:

FACTCHECK.ORG. Are they the ones that said Carley Fiorina was lying when she said that she worked her way up in business from a secretary to CEO because even though she did, it was at 2 different companies so it didn’t count? LOL! Or that Ben Carson lied when he said that Hillary Clinton told her daughter and Egypt’s leader the Benghazi attacks were terrorism while telling America it was an unrelated video because that is “distorting a complicated situation” Haha! Surrre! Liberals! SMH. If they ain’t lyin’ they ain’t tryin’!

    • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

Go away, Kyle! You, sir, and your university, stank. Stanky McStank-Stank stankaroo. 🙂

  • Mike says:

Forgive me if this has been answered previously but word is that OU has no room for Mayden. Even if he were interested we couldn’t/wouldn’t take him. Correct?

    • BoomerDave says:

I think we take at least one more CB in this class. On NSD, wouldn’t be surprised if we had 86-88 on scholarship. These things just have a way of working themselves out.

    • cush creekmont says:

Samaje Perine is such a fine example of an OU player. We are all pulling for him and thinking of him Mrs. Perine. Bless you and the whole family.

    • KJ1123 says:

Tough kid, he’ll be good to go. Kid works hard, I’m sure he’ll work hard in rehab as well.

    • RBear says:

Being off his feet for a bit, this should give him a chance to work on that upper body /s

      • paganpink says:

Good point. Those little arms could use some muscle mass. No more of that struggling once he’s past 100 reps benching only 225! He will develop some real strength and endurance.

    • Chezrus says:

I had ankle surgery last year to tighten and reattach legiments… It was the best thing I have ever done… 3 screws later and about 8-12 wks recovery was well worth it… I used to havey ankle give out all the time with out actively and painful sprains when I did play sports… Now my ankle is solid… No pain (expect when it’s really cold) or sprains… Given that Perine is a real athlete, he should recover faster and easily experience better results?

    • Dustin says:

Strong body. I’m sure all will be fine. No worries.

    • SoonerfanTU says:

Tough kid to play on that ankle against Clemson.

Hopefully he can rest up. Dude doesn’t need a bunch of work in the spring anyways.

      • 22dupree says:

Yes, the rest will do him good. Seemed like each game in November, Samaje had a point in the game where it looked like the ankle had gotten the best of him. But he’d not only comeback – he’d make clutch, huge plays to spur us on. Humble, hard-working and all about the team and it’s success. Samaje is THE example for our players to follow. Can’t wait to see what he can do fully healthy next season. Get well soon Samaje!

    • Chris White says:

Glad he will get the recovery he needs! Doesn’t have anything to prove in spring so let’s get Mixon and Anderson those extra reps

      • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Does anyone else think it wouldn’t hurt for Mixon to shed 10-15 lbs for quickness sake or am I crazy?

        • DCinAZ says:

I do. Mixon looks huge. It looks like he could get some more speed with a little less weight on him even though he’s pretty damn fast.

        • Zack says:

Nah. Just needs to continue to work hard. We’re all aware he took a year off from football so let’s see what a full year of team workouts does for him.
The coaches need to go over film with him and show him that he needs to get north and south, against teams like osu and tech and poor defenses, he can beat guys running lateral to the LOS but against the good/speedy defenses he has to find a hole and go.

          • RocketCitySooner says:

I’ve read the biggest adjustment for a kid coming out of high school is learning that he can’t just outrun guys to the corner. The defensive guys in college are fast enough to keep up. Maybe Mixon needs to learn that.

          • Zack says:

I believe it. The thing is he can exploit bad defensive teams but like I mentioned there’s going to be 4 or 5 teams that you just have to make a decision and go, best man wins. His run against osu was impressive but that doesn’t happen to tcu, Texas, Baylor or Clemson. Won’t work against Ohio state next year.

          • RocketCitySooner says:

Typically, the kids playing RB at the college level were the fastest guys on their teams. They have to learn that they’re now playing a lot of “the fastest guys on their teams”.

        • Chris White says:

As far as quickness goes yes but he seems a little fragile at times and though he has heart I wouldn’t want more injuries simply for weight loss

        • Chris White says:

    • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

Samaje, with all due respect, but I just want to say that your mama is, uh, of the non-ugly sort.

I mean, if that’s okay with you, Mr. Samaje, sir.

      • akryan says:

LOL, I’m glad you said it first. I didn’t want to be the only guy in here to point it out.

    • Zack says:

Eschbach made it seem like her post was fearful of amputation. Seems like your pretty standard “pray for a speedy recovery” type post.

    • DCinAZ says:

Samaje looks just like his mama.

  • ohiosoonerdevildog says:

All I can say is January 22nd is my birthday. I better get a good present.

  • KJ1123 says:

Just watching a little video on Ashton Julious. If he can get his footwork right, he may turn out to be a really good OL for us. Plays with good leverage and pad level already.

    • DCinAZ says:

I can’t believe we’d want somebody that big playing guard, which is what I keep hearing in regards to Julious.

      • Doobie74OU says:

Duke Robinson 6’5″ 300lb and Dana Savage last year at 6’4″ 345lb are a couple guys close in size but he will have to be in shape to move with our up tempo offense

      • KJ1123 says:

I too was thinking guard because of his movement. But honestly, that didn’t work with Derek, so I’d much rather have a 6’4″ 315 guard who can MOVE, instead of one that is immovable, especially with our blocking schemes.

  • Dustin says:

By my calculations, we have 81 scholarships spoken for next season. Not trying to start rumors, but are we expecting more transfers or decommitments?

    • Brien Brown says:

I count 74 kids that are on Scholly and a whole bunch of walk on kids. But I don’t work there and Idk the numbers and we have been told all along to expect this class to be 18-21 kids in size!

    • Zack says:

There were 12 scholarship seniors from everything I’ve read. Also we had 2 open scholarships all year, plus green and knight have announced transfers and 2 players left for the draft. So that’s 18 available scholarships and I was told by a poster on another site that they expect 2 more transfers. If all of that holds true we should take 20. I’ve heard the rumors of holding off on scholarships and saving them for 2017 but I don’t see why we would go into next season with 2 or 3 open spots. At the same time I think it depends on if we get who we realistically think we will land. We can’t afford to take warm bodies just to sit and transfer out in 2 years.

  • BleedCrimson says:

Nice win by the WBB. Thought they looked like toast in the first half. They were down by 12 or 14 at one time, but closed to within 4 at the end of the 3rd. Took their first lead during the 4th and pulled away to win by 13.

  • Rick says:

I don’t know if you guys saw it, but Justice Hansen committed to Ark State.

  • Tboneathome says:

  • Mizuno44 says:

We offered Javon Wims on December 16, does he have any interest?
