(Ed. note – Apologies for the early morning content dump. Once again travel dictates the schedule and rather than making you all wait until much later this afternoon, I figured you would prefer it just go up this morning. Appreciate you both reading and understanding!)

* The Weekend: Not the music guy, but the big recruiting weekend the Sooners are expected to host. If you haven’t already seen it, and you can do so HERE, the visitor list for his weekend is quite impressive. Especially when you take into account the group of talented prospects Lon Kruger & staff are expecting in Norman.

* Devin Duvernay: Oklahoma has long standing track record of developing elite slot receivers be it Brandon Daniels, Mark Clayton, Ryan Broyles and current Sooner Sterling Shepard. 2016 Sache (TX) wide receiver Devin Duvernay has the type of talent to continue in that same tradition.

I spoke with Duvernay about his upcoming visit to OU, who shared he and Sooners WR coach Dennis Simmons have a great relationship and speak almost daily. Duvernay also said that OU’s offense is one of the things that appeals most to him, as well as just an overall comfort with the staff and university saying, “ I just feel good about the place.” We got to speaking about his twin brother and Baylor commit, Donnovan, and likelihood them playing together at the next level. Devin was adamant that “it is all even” in terms of his recruitment, saying that OU, Baylor, Ohio State and Alabama all are on an equal playing field right now.

That said, in my opinion it will be an uphill battle for anyone to beat out Baylor. But coach Simmons and Cale Gundy have proved to be coaches that can compete with anyone. The fact that they have the star receiver coming to visit gives them more than a puncher’s chance. A good showing this weekend will go a long ways in his recruitment. – (Brandon)

* Elysee Mbem-Bosse: Oklahoma has had some off and on luck in the state of Georgia in recruiting classes past. But ever since the addition of defensive backs coach Kerry Cooks, the Sooners have made more of an emphasis to make themselves known in the Peach State.

In the case of Mbem-Bosse, a 2016 LB, however, Cooks is not the lead recruiter rather Tim Kish. The Sooners LB coach is making his mark known with the star linebacker. Mbem-Bosse says Kish is a great guy and they talk often. Mbem-Bosse did say that he plans on using one of his official visits on the Sooners, but he isn’t quite sure when that visit will be scheduled.

The fact that OU is even expected to get an official from Mbem-Bosse is no small feat. He has offers from Auburn, Michigan, Alabama and just about every other elite team in in the country. If OU does get him on campus anything can happen, as his only visit so far was to North Carolina State. His recruitment seems to be one that could last well into the new year. – (Brandon)

* Marvin Wilson: The 2017 DT is one of, if not the most sought after defensive lineman in the country. With offers from just about everyone in the country, Sooners DL coach Diron Reynolds has plenty of competition for the star defender from Bellaire, Texas.

I had the chance to catch up with Wilson to see where the Sooners stand right now for him. One thing I came with from that conversation was that Wilson is definitely open to a lot schools at the moment, which makes sense considering he’s just a junior and still fairly early in the recruiting process. But during the course of our chat, Wilson did allow that OU is one of his top schools right now.

Wilson went on to say he plans on visiting OU in the future, but that visit may not occur until after this season. Wilson also said that he and Reynolds speak several times a week. In fact, Wilson said he is really close with Reynolds and loves his laid back approach to recruiting him. Wilson said the other schools at the top of his list is LSU, Texas, A&M, Baylor and Michigan. – (Brandon)
