Chuba Hubbard: Much like they did with Neville Gallimore a couple years ago, OU is again recruiting a top flight player out of Canada. Speedy 2017 running back & recent OU offer Chuba Hubbard runs an officially timed 10.55 second 100-meter dash. And that sprinter speed certainly translates to his film on the football field.

TFB caught up with Hubbard on Thursday night, and he seemed very excited talking about the OU offer. “I’m pumped up about it.”  Hubbard went on to say, “ I just started talking with OU, and I know they put out the best running backs in the NFL. It’s just a great school and I really like Coach B (Boulware).”  Hubbard added a visit to Norman is a distinct possibility, but he and the family are still in the process of working on plans for that visit.

Hubbard did note that he plans on using all five of his official visits, and OU is expected to receive one of those. And quickly back to Gallimore, Hubbard said he is friends with the redshirt freshman DT which one would have to imagine can only help the Sooners chances. – (Brandon)

Joel Honigford: Sticking with the theme of recent offers, 2017 offensive tackle Joel Honigford (Sugarcreek, OH) is another prospect on Oklahoma’s radar. Honigford doesn’t have any family ties to the state of Oklahoma, but told TFB he’s still “pretty interested” in the Sooners. Honigford also shared that he’s already working on setting up a visit to OU for sometime this spring, but a date has not been finalized just yet.

You’ll recall earlier this week that we mentioned 2017 OT Blaise Andries (Marshall, MN) also said he expects to visit Norman this spring. It sounds like Oklahoma can expect at least two non-regional offensive linemen to visit this spring. – (Super K)

Deiontae Watts: Also this week, Oklahoma offered 2017 defensive tackle Deiontae Watts (Plano, TX). TFB spoke with Watts earlier this week, “I’m originally from Oklahoma. I was born in Chickasha, so the OU offer is the one I wanted.” Adding to the intrigue, both Watts’ mother and father are also from Oklahoma and the family all grew up as OU fans.

Watts is piling up offers including from schools like Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor & UCLA. Watts has a trip planned to Texas A&M for this weekend, but told TFB that following the OU offer there is little doubt he will make his way up to Norman in short order.

Watts did say, however, he also plans to use all five of his official visits. His family connections to OU certainly do not make this a done deal, but it’s still pretty clear the Sooners at least have a bit of a head start over other schools at the moment. And while Oklahoma may have been a little late to offer, new OU defensive line coach Calvin Thibodeaux, while still at Kansas, was one of the first coaches to offer Watts. And Thibodeaux also made Watts his first offer upon arriving in Norman.  – (Super K)

Ceedee Lamb: As many have noted, Oklahoma 2017 WR commit Ceedee Lamb picked up an LSU offer on Thursday. The circle that Lamb runs in down here in the Houston area is very connected to LSU. I exchanged a few texts with Lamb following the LSU offer, and he said there is a chance — it’s not a definite at the time of this post — he could be in Baton Rouge as early as this weekend. Regardless of whether or not it happens this weekend, Lamb visiting LSU at some point is almost a certainty. – (Super K)

Team Note | Offensive Line: In preparation for spring ball, OU players are now going through “coaching stations.” The offensive line obviously lost two veteran players in Ty Darlington & Nila Kasitati, so we checked with a source to see who was running with the first team right now. We were told the first five at the moment are (from left-to-right): Orlando Brown, Cody Ford, Jonathan Alvarez, Jamal Danley & Dru Samia. Understand that is far from being set in stone considering the team is still a week out from the start of spring practices. – (Super K)
