Sooners Land Commitment From 2017 WR

We may be coming down the home stretch in this 2016 recruiting class, but that certainly hasn’t stopped Oklahoma from already getting off to a quick start for 2017.
And that hot start continued Thursday evening with the addition of 2017 wide receiver Ceedee Lamb (Richmond, TX), who tweeted out his commitment to the Sooners.

2017 looking to kill!
Just love it. 2017 has their qb and wr on offense and a safety and lb on defense. Maybe Mark Andrews can talk to his old high school teammate Kyle Allen.
It sounds like Allen is recruiting OU more than the other way round.

That would be the closest thing to a jackpot that OU can hit. He didn’t struggle at A&M because he sucks. College Station is where talented QB’s go to die under Sumlin.

At 6’1″ 170lb if he grows a inch or two and puts on 20 to 30 lbs he could be crazy good! Caught 52 pass for over 1k yards and 11 tds and runs a 4.4

His Hudl looked good. High pointed catches; took the short pass for long gains; out ran the corner on the deep ball.
But I wouldn’t worry too much about all the recruiting site numbers. Rivals had him taller, but 4.53 40 time, so….
He looked fast enough. I don’t believe any times posted under 4.5 I’m actually more tempted to believe the time if it’s listed over 4.5
I’ve seen 4.53 and that’s believable. Hell, I was a 4.6 guy (in pads) over 30 years ago so the 4.4’s are believable to me now with the training they get at a young age.
Sub 4.4 is believable for maybe 1 out of 100 skill guys out of HS. That’s why I don’t believe it when I see it posted on hudl. I like to wait until the kids are in college to judge their true speed.

And that I don’t believe most of the sub 4.4 times I see posted on hudl. Humphrey posted 4.25 on there but he’s really about 4.5

to me he doesnt look like he has the high top end speed but his acceleration looks pretty damn good! Plus he plays physical gotta love that!
I know what you mean. Spencer Tillman told me I was quick for a white boy because I could beat him in the 40, but he always beat me in the 100 because he had a high gear that I didn’t have. lol.
Exactly. I don’t doubt that he can run 4.4 without pads but in pads I doubt it. And if he really was a 4.25 guy he would not have RS’d no matter how much weight he needed to put on.
It’s kind of hard to believe a lot of stuff posted nowdays. These kids can grow or shrink 2-3 inches. gain or lose 20-30 pounds, and times in 40 be 2-3 tenths off. Just depends what site you read. I guess as long as he can outrun who is chasing him is all that matters.
OU recruited two extremely FAST HS receivers for the 216 class ( Duvernay & Jack Jones ) but got neither. they are a rare commodity and highly sought after……….

Baylor already has 7 commits for the 2017 class and 5 of them are Scout top 300 types……The Bears are cleaning up instate right now which is why Texas should be worried about Strong’s ability to siphon talent to Austin……

Congrats, a friend of mine quit a couple of years ago. He said it was the hardest thing he ever done in his life. He wrestled for 4 years at Wisconsin, to me that’s tuff but he said it couldn’t hold a candle.
Visits camps at Baylor, Texsa, and Okie Lite and Okie Lite offers him all in the spring… Gets an offer from The Sooners in October and is smart enough to accept that offer in December…I already like his style!
You’d think a guy with a name like Lamb would end up at OSU but Im glad we got him.

That is a good get. He’s got good hands, tracks the ball very well and is physical. I’m not sure what his measurables are but he looks to able to make up for any short comings with speed.
Just checked it out, 6’1″ at 170lbs. If he can add another 10-15 lbs. he’s going to be an excellent WR.
Another year of HS and a training camp at OU, 15 lbs won’t be a problem.
On rivals he’s listed as 6’3″ and on 247 he’s 6’1″. Not sure which one is usually more accurate but if he’s 6’3″, he is going to be one heck of an outside threat.

I think he’s probably higher rated (You know ****’s) if he had a QB that didn’t just throw a jump ball every time.
I was enjoying the highlights of him laying out potential tacklers in the run game.

The way he blocks ( like he hates db’s) he should see playing time early at OU!
(I do think someone should warn him about taunting LB’s and such at the next level
before he fins out why they love to see the wr coming on a crossing route)
