– Linebacker Recruiting: Earlier this week both LB Mique Juarez (Torrance, CA) and Caleb Kelly (Fresno, CA) publicly narrowed their respective lists of top schools. OU failed (not surprisingly) to make the cut with Juarez when he announced his Top 2 schools as UCLA and Ole Miss. Kelly, the long-time OU target, announced a Top 3 that included Oklahoma, Oregon & Notre Dame. As we noted several weeks back, Kelly has told us he won’t announce until signing day.
Sticking with Kelly, however, some many be surprised by the omission of Michigan among his top schools. For a while it seemed like the Wolverines were a major player in his recruitment. But we were told recently that Michigan was no longer recruiting Kelly, for whatever reasons however we do not know.
Oklahoma has long been at, or near the top for Kelly, but one has to think with the departure of Dom Alexander and the prospect of immediate playing time, it only makes the Sooners all the more attractive for the talented Cali prospect. – (Super K)
– Velus Jones: Not long ago the Sooners were expecting a commitment from star 2016 WR Velus Jones (Saraland, AL). Jones was set to announce but then decided to delay. I haven’t had a chance to speak to Jones on the phone since then, but I wanted to pass on a short albeit interesting note regarding Jones.
I was exchanging texts with Jones shortly after the game against Clemson and asked what he thought of the Sooners at that point, to which Jones responded by simply saying, “I’m coming.” Sounded like pretty good news for OU to me. – (Super K)
Tramonda Moore: In case you missed this yesterday, here’s a great clip of 2016 OT target Tramonda Moore going against Clemson DE commit (and one-time OU target) Xavier Kelly.

What adds to the excitement of that video is that Moore has come out and publicly stated that Oklahoma is his current leader. We alluded to this a week ago in the Open Post saying:
A recruit that is trending in OU’s direction is 2016 OT Tramonda Moore (OKC). Moore has been considering OU, OSU, TCU and Alabama for a while but more and more it looked like OSU was pulling away. We’ve been told that may not be the case as much anymore and that his latest visit to Oklahoma went really well. Moore has folks around him that want to see him at OSU but we are told OU is his current preference.
– Penn State WR: Interesting to note that Penn State WR Eugene (Geno) Lewis has graduated from Penn State but has a year of eligibility remaining and is considering a transfer.

Pretty good news all around it seems!
Eugene Lewis go ahead and follow Justin Browns lead
Oh and thank you Super K
Bad swim move….just sayin
Bad swim move….just sayin
Yea it seemed like it took Kelly off guard that Moore hit him that hard, either didn’t know the talent or they weren’t supposed to go that hard in the drill.
Moore has a really good base. Just shows you how inexperienced some of these kids are. Kelly has probably been swimming kids in his league with success for years. Here’s a tip, if the OL is taller than you, dont swim move him.
LOL
Dip and rip!
Preach!
Preach!
Didn’t look that tough for Moore. He basically said “I don’t think so”.
Any news on how many draft picks we will have to give up on the Kyler Murray for Trevor Knight trade?
seems like a pretty even deal, Murray has time to mature and Knight has the maturity that Sumlin’s Ags desperately need
Yeah, but Knight only has one year left on his contract then he is a free agent.
That is pretty standard in sport. Trade a player at the end of their deal for someone who has more time and maybe more potential
Oh, I understand the trade from our standpoint. Just thinking A&M might want more for their player. I guess they are pretty desperate for a starting QB. I think their #2 guy right now is the backup punter.
Thought I saw that Allen is off to Houston too
That’s what I read. I thought he might go home to UA or ASU, so I am surprised.
That Tim Herman money is skrong. Thinking he got a 5 year deal with them
Allen apparently has a girlfriend attending aTm……..very nice pick up for Houston………..
Zero, we already gave them Ford and Williams.
Oh, so Knight was the player to be named later. I understand now.
Yes, Murray was the “player to be named later” in the Keith Ford deal.
No, I think it was for the Brandon Williams deal.
Anyone else surprised aTm didn’t use their franchise tag on Murray?
I know, they traded up for him too last year with that WR at Ole Miss.
aTm probably discovered Murray was too small ………Found him a home in a secondary P5 conference……….
I’d rather be at the top of a “secondary” P5 conference, than at the bottom of a supposed “Primary” P5 conference.

Any news on how many draft picks we will have to give up on the Kyler Murray for Trevor Knight trade?
Great open post. If everything turns out the way the coaches are hoping for this could end up being a very good class. Oh and I would love another Penn State transfer at WR.
Turned out well last time!
Are we looking to fill all available scholarships this recruiting class, or might we save some for the 2017 cycle?
IMO never save them, players leave or transfer for whatever reason and all slots need filled
I don’t think you ever save them. If nothing else, you give one to a senior walkon.
or a walk on QB that earns one
Mine was worse case scenario, so yeah. I’m all in favor of giving a scholly every now and then to a walkon. It encourages players to walk on in the hope of getting one.
Whaley comes to mind
my apologies, It was a light-hearted swipe at Kingsbury
Nice one
Ahh subtext, I have heard of that. Never really understood it though.
It is in smaller print, just below the main text. You’re welcome.
Another question, Daniels scheduled two official visits this month, Texas & Ohio State. So, is he committed, or is he 99% committed?
Personally, if he’s visiting he’s not committed. OU is his favorite IMO.
Texas jumping in with his family connections might be a problem.
Commitment:
http://wp.production.patheos.com/blogs/excommunications/files/2015/02/inconceivable3.jpg
To the contrary:
Sorry, I know you understand it. It’s the kids these days that think commitment means saving my spot until something else comes along.
I hear you and understand, but I was raised differently and want these kids to do the right thing.
Agree.
They do, however, it’s not always “the right thing” for OUr team.
I am for making a commitment binding before NSD. Schools offering a 150,000 scholarship should not be in a position to have to scramble on NSD. They should be able to know who they have before NSD.
http://barfblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/inconceivable.jpg
The chicken participates in breakfast. The pig is committed.
Yes…
I thought I read somewhere that he said he was done with visits! Super K would be the guy to ask about it..
!
Anyone know who Sylvie or Moore are rooming with at the Army game?
Kyle Allen, the other A&M QB is transferring to UH.
But who will be the Kylest?
Kylarkyle a lest
Will Moore qualify?
Word is he will.
Is denzel on the shelf till NSD?
We will probably have some commit before that.
I bet hes lonely. He needs to visit.
3 Tramonda Moore predictions on 247 since yesterday morning
Thanks as always Super K!
What happened with Lamar Jackson was he not an Ou lean at 1time and then didn’t get to visit because of early game time did we just stop recruiting him?
Wanted to pass along that OU-Houston tix are already on sale now. I don’t know if any you are going or not but I thought I would let you know.
We’ve had great success with PSU transfers; hope we get this one and it pans out the same way.
would be nice to get a vet like lewis in the system. on a side note im ready for nsd lol
I’d like to hear more on Greg Little
We don’t pay enough.
Ole Miss bound , isn’t he ?
Is Lewis better than his stats? Because his stats aren’t/weren’t very good this year. A little better last year.
If I remember right, the last Penn State transfer (whose name escapes me) was similar as in not great stats at PSU, but was a solid contributor for us.
Justin Brown played for Pittsburgh steelers also and was solid
Odd, you are right. Justin Brown is the name, he was not some all worldly WR coming out of Penn but had a solid career here, *and* got drafted. Not bad at all
Justin was a great punt returner. We need another.
Punt return, what’s that?
I know we used to do that, I just can’t remember if we have had a “great” returner in a while.
A mythical beast I hear…that roams around the grid iron looking for punts to ….return… we have pictures of a few at OU somewhere…at some time…lol..they will get it going again…
Odd, you are right. Justin Brown is the name, he was not some all worldly WR coming out of Penn but had a solid career here, *and* got drafted. Not bad at all
One thing that plagued the PSU passing game was sacks. They allowed more sacks than any other team in the country. Not sure about the kids talent other than he was a 4* out of high school which means little now.
Given that their passing game wasn’t that great, they did have a 1,000 yd receiver, just not this guy. He was number four on receiving yards at 196 that is only 13 yds more in a season than Shep had against Kansas.
Can we trade this guy’s year of eligibility for an extra year for Shep?
Do you know how many draft picks we would have to give up for that?
I have the same question. Looks like he was their #4 receiver at 17 catches for 196 yds. Is there something missing here? He only started three games though he did play in every one. He didn’t return any punts so maybe we are looking for him to replace Shepherd as punt returner.
Bob strikes again in 2016 lol
Hahaha
So he can raise a hand above his shoulder?
Hackenburg was his qb. Not sure why the NFL scouts are high on that guy. Looks like another mettenberger, mallet or locker. Not very accurate just prototypical size.
something, something attributes, something something, prototypical size, meaning he must be the second coming of Andew Luck
FWIW, he has 90 career catches and I think that is more than any returning receiver on our roster. Last year was not good though.
If he is a polished WR, that has played in P5 conference games, it would be of more value than an all star juco that has to acclimate. Maybe Hack a berg didn’t look his way or the situational scheme prevented him from shining…heck I dont know…lol But if he comes here (which I don’t think that i have read anywhere that he is even considering us) and becomes a 1 year all-star i’m game. Not to mention, he has 1 year to try and impress NFL scouts and there are a lot of balls being thrown around Norman…
Any updates on Aaron Hansford? He seems pretty open to OU right now based on an interview I saw at the UA game last week. My ideal close to the LB class would be Kelly and either Hansford or Fowler.
For some time now it has been rumored that Tremonda’s problem has been academic. Is this correct, is it grades, a low ACT score, combination of the two, or is it just rumors?
Justin Brown’s stats at PSU weren’t amazing either and he came in a did a great job for OU. Maybe this guy will too.
Texas A&M athletic director Eric Hyman stepping down

“Kevin Sumlin is the captain of our ship and the future looks good.” but Im out, peace.
That was a Tramondous punch.
Knocked him down. Wow. He wasn’t expecting THAT, obviously.
Am I missing something? Why are we even talking about Eugene Lewis? Is there any indication that OU is even interested in him, or he in OU? Just curious.
Twitter following is the new thing for finding out who’s going where.
Did OU ever offer the MLB at NEO? I seen he got offers from Iowa State and Nebraska now, if I’m remember correctly. He was a RB in High School, so I bet he can cover too.
Chris Baccus
No they haven’t and I doubt they will.
Ok thanks. I new that they had looked at him some this year, and I new he has been to OU for some visits, non-official. I guess I just like them LBs from the Tulsa area.
“them there” linebackers I seen in Tulsa. LOL
UT fan here, but Juarez to Ole Miss? Ole Miss has been a mediocre program for a while, so how have they been able to pull off some of the best classes in the past 4 years? Another great class, tho they keep underachieving.
$$$SEC$$$SEC$$$SEC
I wonder how much Greg Little got from them. And Rashan Gary’s mother loves Ole Miss. If they land Gary?
I don’t know if he got anything, BUT, there have been rumors for years. Usually where there is that much smoke…. I have read he is taking an OU visit, but who knows. OUr new aTm transfer QB seems to be doing the recruiting.
Do you hang out on the UT TFB? Is it as good as this one?
It’s empty their. I think it’s because UT has so many other sites where fans hang out. We have 2 on SB nation.
there
Our SB absolutely sucks. One of the mods here used to write on SB. Quite a few of us came over here from SB. Where a post game thread on SB might have 20-30 posts on a given day, there will be well over a 1000 here.
I it’s the opposite for us. But Barking Carnival and BON fans are different in many ways, tho we are all texas fans
BTW, the proper way to spell yOUr state on this thread is the same way Coach Charlie spells it “Texsa”.
Barking Carnival, huh, LOL. “THE DOGS BARK AND THE CIRCUS CARNIVAL MOVES ON” Pretty apt description of Charlie Strong. He doesn’t listen to ANYONE. Time will tell if that’s an effective coaching technique!
He doesn’t listen to anyone?
Old “Honey, I shrunk the team?!” No- he follows his own moral compass. Win or lose.
We still pulled in a great 2015 class. And we might finish between 15-20, tho our record is 5-7.
Do you hang out on the UT TFB? Is it as good as this one?
If they land 4 of the top 5 in the recruiting class then it’s time for the ncaa to figure out what the hell is going on. The thing I don’t understand is there are plenty of other schools to team up with other big time recruits and take over college football. A team with no tradition being able to do that would have to smell.
You know me Zack, I’m pretty cynical about SEC, Media, and Ole Miss in general.
I guess the ncaa is scared to get too involved in things since they are probably one or 2 fiascos away from not existing.
I’m no fan of the NCAA, but, what kind of governing body will there be if they cease to exist? Will the individual conferences police themselves or is just going to be a free for all?
After the Cam Newton fiasco, where FBI had tape of boosters and their activities with the players, I have basically viewed the ncaa as feckless.
The NCAA is powerless. Have you guys read this article?
http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2014/4/10/5594348/college-football-bag-man-interview
Interesting article, not that I think there’s anything in the article that we didn’t already know or at suspected. There have been too many kids flashing bills on Twitter, too many parents getting new jobs, cars, houses etc. I know it goes on. We all know it goes on. As long as people with no morals and integrity continue the process and continue to get away with it clean, it will continue and grow. I can only hope at times, someone gets caught, turns in a lot of people who turn in a lot of people, and some attention comes to light with the general public.
Well the conferences gained autonomy or whatever didn’t they? So they kind of have more power than most people probably realize. I’m of the mindset that division 1 is too big and that it needs to be separated into 2 divisions. Major college football should only consist of 64 teams. I have more thoughts on this subject but it’s not the most organized format.
That’s my point. You don’t go from crap to getting the best recruits in this day and age.
I don’t get why a kid like Juarez, from sunny Cal, would want to go play football in Miss. Not just the state, but they have the facilities and stadium of a HS team.
When they landed the 3 big recruits last time it was fishy. To do it again with no real success makes even less sense.
I know you’re a Texas guy but there’s one blue blood that is lacking the top tier talent but is as good as anyone at competing at this level and putting guys in the NFL and that is OU. Maybe OU hasn’t been down enough to get those guys to buy in to returning OU to prominence.
In your opinion do you think the big 12 is the reason OU and Texas aren’t getting most of the guys they want?
When you look around at USC, bama, Ohio state and for the most part notre dame, they all get guys big time recruits.
Bama has been successful and they have ESPN. USC always finds its way back. Ohio state has Urban Meyer (the best quiet salesmen in the world) and some smart kids want to go to ND. Jeffrey McCulloch has ND in his top 5 (very smart kid).
BTW We’re trying to get Chris Daniels from you guys when he visits next weekend. Haha! Nah, I think he’s staying put.
Perhaps beating Alabama back to back and finishing second in the SEC West is not underachieving. As good as their classes have been they do not compare to Alabama’s classes.
Sorry, but Alabama at least is a storied football program. What did they do before they landed Freeze’s first class? You don’t go from decades of mediocrity to all of a sudden landing 4 great classes in a row. They’re under investigation so we’ll see what happens.
I think we all know why they’ve had success, but unfortunately any investigations will result in nothing…because SEC.
I agree. The SEC has become college football. I think getting with ESPN made that happen. Texas is never on ESPN.com’s scoreboard when the game’s on LHN.
Ole Miss & Miss St have been longtime cheaters but never rose above mediocrity. Its obnoxious when they land 5 star national recruits. You can bet all of them will head to the NFL as soon their 3 yrs are up.
I think the suddenness of it is what seems so strange to me as well. I could see them landing a 5 star and then building off of that, gradually growing into potential top 10 classes. But they went from not even sniffing a top 10 class to being there annually.
We need to start pulling some big names on defense, and a few on offense.
The defense has some big names in this class, and is pretty heavy on that side with bigger names. The offense has some big names at the QB and RB spot lacking at WR, and the O-Line is has been nice this year and last. Don’t need big names just need big time performers
That’s what I’m saying
okay, who’s left? who do you think we’ll get and who do you not know but think we have a chance to get?
Think we’ll get Kelly,Bledsoe and who? . . .
Still in the running for? . . .
I say Kelly, Bledsoe, Moore, and Southall are all guys I feel solid about. I am thinking a guy like Velus Jones is now more attractive than he was and I say 50/50 on him. Guys that I think we are on their radar but see as long shots, Bosse, Hansford, Flowers, Cam Williams, Juarez, Price, Little, Cleveland, Doucet, Chatmann, Mayden and Burton. I think OU could steal one or two but IDK who that is, my gut has always said Burton, and I think Mayden, Price, Little, Doucet, or Hansford are the most likely to flip or to surprise IMO. Flowers the LSU DE/LB commit could be worth watching. Again all IMO guys like Jordan and them know much more than I do I am just a fan and watch film and the boards and Twitter a lot. But Kelly, Bledsoe, Moore, Southall, and Jones Jr. I think for sure are all Sooners, and I’ll go Burton and Flowers as the flips/surprise gets!
Came across an article on Lewis. Don’t know if he ends up at OU, but since he’s a topic. Oh, and apparently, he is experienced at signaling for a ‘fair catch’…so he’s good to go as a PR.
Lewis, a first-team Class AAAA All-State selection during his senior year at Wyoming Valley West, played quarterback that season, totaling 1,534 rushing yards and throwing for another 1,012.
Hixon noticed Lewis fairly quickly on the practice field last fall, saying, “his athletic ability is kinda off the chart.”
PSU returns a boatload of talented tight ends to go with Robinson, a first-team All-Big Ten choice, and Moseby-Felder at wide receiver. But Lewis is viewed as a receiver who can make plays down the field and possibly in the return game.
“You know, I’ll probably be outside more, a deep-field threat but, you know, whatever Coach O’Brien wants me to do, that’s what I’m going to do,” Lewis said.
And special teams duty?
“We’ll see how that goes,” Lewis said.
>”I did some kick return and punt return (during spring), so we’ll see how that goes.”<

Chanse is rapidly becoming one of my favorites and the kid hasn’t even signed n or been assigned a locker.
Same here. I fell in love with his game, then discovered what a tremendous person and personality he is.
He is staying busy. San Antone this week, then packing up and moving to Norman the week after.
I like this kid. If he ever needs a place to crash, he’s always welcome at my house.
Ray, a kid like this would be welcome in any of OUr homes.
This kid is all in, article says he is “crutin” for us.

D’Andre Christmas-Giles was warned not to leave La. Some lawyer on twitter told him that the people of La will never forget.
People are getting pretty weird. There was some jerk on Twitter a month or so back making threats and just overall disgusting remarks to a young recruit of ours in the ’17 class. Needless to say the jerk had no “class”, and I’m pretty sure the dad got involved on that one.
Fear is a reason why big-time recruits from La don’t leave the state. We get upset when Texas kids leave the state, but it’s not that serious as they leave all the time. We already have to deal with other programs in Texas.
Texsa is a “football” state. It is one of if not the best HS football state in America. When UT has 25 schollys to give in a certain year, and 100 of top 250 players in the nation are from Texsa, someone is going to be left out. UT has historically gotten their picks, coaching seems to be more of a problem than the recruiting.
We’ll start getting them once we start winning. I’m still amazed at our 2015 class…didn’t see that coming.
Start winning? Are you serious? Who is the Big 12 champ for 2015?
I’m a Texas fan.
When we use the term “we” on a Sooner site it is automatically assumed the topic is OU not texass
Right
I find it interesting that Scout lists him at 6′ 175lbs 4.73-40.
Rivals has him at 6′ 186lbs 4.48-40.
While the weight disparity isn’t that great, the speed is. I saw him play three times this year and I can assure you he isn’t 4.73 in the 40.
Recruiting site 40 times are about as reliable as a politician’s promise during election year.
I like his rivals 40, therefore I can keep his rivals 40?
Sure, and if it ends up being wrong Donald Trump will fix it.
Go Donny!!!!
You would like Trump, Bob. And he would like you.
No
I was thinking how funny it would be have a movie written starring Hil and Donny in a love story, with the final line being something to the effect of “YOU’RE FIRED”.
I was going to say no, but Bob said you could so you got lucky

The film I watched showed his speed and unless these were all very slow boys, (I don’t think so) his speed was excellent. I kinda wonder how a US AAA is only listed as 3* too. I’m pretty excited about him. A kid that loves us this much this early, has got to be something special. I would much rather see a kid WANT to play for us rather than just choose us off his list of potential candidates any day.
I don’t understand the star ratings, anyway. This kid is a player.
His game speed is fantastic, he looks like a Sidewinder missile when he attacks.
That he is “all in” and has demonstrated it so convincingly for all these months, I expect he will be an excellent player.
We all say we don’t understand the star stuff but then when OU brings in 3 stars all we say is that OU should be getting 5 stars. LOL and when I say we include myself.
I’m just not that enamored with the stars. You look at their ratings and so few tenths of a point separate one star to the next. They don’t evaluate the kids and their potential for development, their heart or their character. Just their measurables and their tape.
Tex I agree with you. We have so many guys come to OU through the years and just explode that were supposed to be below average. You can’t measure work ethic and you can’t how much more a guy will develop physically or if they will develop mentally in the game.
I can’t count the number of 5* recruits who get to college and never grow an inch or add a pound. Physically they peaked before they left high school and became solid contributors, but their performance curve flattened out. Two I can think of, McFarland and Nkemdiche(?). Good players, but based on their recruiting hype and star ratings one would have expected them to become unblockable monsters in college.
While the star system is essentially the best method we have, currently, for the masses, I would dearly love to see what the coaching staff’s system looks like.
Yes sir. It is funny because a coaches continued pay check is based on their eval of a player. We shouldn’t question the offers and recruiting unless we believe the coaches don’t really care about winning and keeping their job.
And a LOT of the time I don’t think they know what they’re looking at when they watch tape.
I know. I think you are right. But then after the Clemson game a number of TFB posters are saying that we aren’t talented enough on the LOS.
Not having Walker at DT really hurt.
The OL looked good early.
The way the entire team looked after half time, I wouldn’t rule out they all donated a pint of blood while in the locker room.
I wonder about how they adjusted to the heat down there. Did they go out into it too much? Did the coaches overwork them and not give their bodies long enough to adjust? I wondered the way they looked bushed at the end of the 3rdQ.
I noticed how weak and slow they seemed at the start of the 3rd.
I noticed how weak and slow they seemed at the start of the 3rd.
One has to remember that the stars are evaluated by “PAID SITES”. (Caution my cynical side is showing again). I would assume that the possibility of buying stars from some sites could be a possibility, with in some cases better players with lower rankings being better players. They are in the business for nothing but the money.
I’d do away with all 5* myself. I’d make all 5* 4*. Not sure there is much if any difference between a 5* and 4*. When we get a 5* I personally am not any more excited than getting a 4*.
Definitely a good get. Would take two of his kind every year.
Agree! Stars…smars. If the coaches want him, he must be good. And when the coaches can’t judge talent often enough they will be gone.
Texas’ best o-lineman Connor Williams (TR FR All-American) was a 3 star recruit.
If memory serves me, I think OUr last 2 heisman winners were both 3*.
I think they hit a kid according to the level of competition they play like their district and what not and classification. Mean IDK really but, that would make sense to me int he fact that they are saying well yea they are this good cause this is who they play!
What the quandry is, that how can a player look that good, be invited to the big game and still just be listed a 3*, I’m gonna bet he is just pretty salty in the D backfield.
He isn’t just salty, he is a salt block.
Well I think he is a 4 to 5 star kid. Just because one site has him ranked one way vs another and so on and so forth. But I also think they take smart kids and kids that aren’t trouble makers more to than stars I think they have to have a certain GPA also. But who knows how this works!
I disagree. The district my old high school is in is often referred to as one of the toughest 5A districts in the state. This year being no exception, there are many very talented kids that don’t even have a recruiting page at scout of rivals.
I think that if a kid isn’t attending camps, which many from small towns can’t because they don’t have the resources, they miss an opportunity to get noticed. They also rely on who the schools are offering to even know who to look at.
I’ll be driving through your town tomorrow or the next day. If you hear a really loud horn, followed by “HELLO ET”, you’ll know it was me. 😉
Heading out or heading home?

Is there something to this PSU WR and coming to OU?
Looking at the game film of that JC linebacker offer out of Arizona that was on yesterday’s Open Post. I don’t see how people can think he is an inside linebacker candidate. His game film had “Striker” written all over it. He has a very similar outside rush, good explosion after twisting inside on pass rush and has damn good instincts on how to run the play down from the backside. Not sure how Deberry plays in pass coverage but I can see him moving inside.
I loved the JC kid’s timing for blitzing in the B gap. He was determined and fearless when he decided to go for it.
I would like to see a blitz come from the middle LB every now and then.
Agreed.. Gotta, mix it up. Boz proved it could be done
My thoughts as well. Very Striker-like.
I thought Bolton and even Tay looked a lot like Striker in hs as well…and lets not forget Stirker isn’t the ideal size for OLB but has the freakish ability to explode off the snap and get around the tackle and never give up..get these guys to campus and see what happens weight wise, agility, and speed wise after Smitty gets em
I am impressed with how Tay has developed physically. I watched him in high school and never thought he would put on the good weight he has. He is very athletic.
https://youtu.be/a4DD6bIreV4
and as fast as he did..He basically put the same weight that Jordan did a year earlier
Looking back at that lanky LB in his senior year, I can now see what the coaches were most likely seeing, a frame that would fill out and develop. I recall seeing him as a really skinny junior that got pushed around a little, but did he ever make plays.
I didn’t know if you guys saw this earlier.

So technically Wood and Murray are 4 and 5 star players joining the team for 2016. Let’s keep this in mind when evaluating this class.
I knew it had something to do with the little girl, but had no idea, he was going through all that. Like he said, hind sight, he should have talked to the coaching staff about it.
TE? OR what position?
I think recruited as a TE/HB type player, but knowing some people who knew how he played says is a vicious tackler from the DE position, really loved the contact.
Austin English II?
Maybe, he’s really tough, he was a very good QB, an exceptional runner, a big time hitter on D. If he applies himself, could be just the guy, good size very athletic.
I don’t see how the coaches will trust him at this point. He will have to light up that Scout team to get a shot. Perhaps he can get it done.
I think that’s the idea. He will have to prove himself. If he does, wow, what a potential great player.
TE for me. That kid is athletic.
This kid can do anything athletically, he’s just had a lot of personal matters to deal with. He could be a TE, take a snap or two as a backup QB, then play the next series as DE. He’s a multi-tool.
Finally the truth comes out. I think that Dalton will eventually get his scholarship and prove to be a great addition to the team.
Thanks for sharing.
He will have a rare privilege to actually earn a scholly while at OU. Most players are “given” a scholly based based on HS performance. He will have the added motivation to earn the spot and continue to earn the spot every day he gets up. Good on him!
For the sake of the team, I hope he does live up to the hype.
Thanks for the link. Glad to finally know what he had to deal with.
It does concern me that he has another child on the way at such a young age.
If I were providing him with any guidance it would be “wrap that rascal.”
LOL.
EasTex, how goes it, sir?
I’m looking forward to national signing day. I’ll be all eyes and ears for Men and Women basketball and softball. That will have to do me. I start traveling again, next week. I try to get it done early in the year so I can be available for vacations in the summer. I try to limit traveling for work once school is out.
How did it go with the unexpected guest for the game? Did you make it akward for them?
It went well, Boomer. He decided not to come and admitted that he had invited himself. Thanks for asking.
The football season didn’t end the way I thought it would. However, it was a great season.
It was a great season! I will like to see what Riley can develop in the off-season.
Hey, Sam.
This year is off to a weird start.
I’ll follow what the Sooner men and women are doing, but nothing compares with my passion for Oklahoma football.
There are so many other events going on around the globe and in our country that I am following that are occupying my attention, right now, along with family matters.
If I didn’t have so much going on I would be on my way to the Malheur Wildlife Refuge in Oregon.
I make it a point to read what you share. I’lll have to catch up on this tomorrow.
You’re right about OU football: that’s my passion. But I find myself rooting for anyone, in any sports, that has an OU logo, crimson and cream in color.
There’s some sick stuff happening in the world. It’s hard to believe that people won’t let you be if you let them be.
I’ll keep praying and keep my eyes toward God. He’s our only hope.
I am always comforted by the knowledge that despite what many like to believe, we are not in control and I know who is. 🙂
I came across a fascinating article on one of my favorite think sites that you might find interesting. The lack of knowledge and understanding that this author addresses has always puzzled me.
http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2016/01/the_nastiest_insult_to_call_a_black_man_according_to_liberals.html
EasTex, I read the article. Thanks for sharing. It was insightful, informative, and needed to be said. Now, all he has to do is get buy-in.
I understand what “Carlton” is speaking of: I grew up in the South. For whatever reason, I’ve never had a Southern drawl. Black kids gave me hell: I heard things like “trying to act White” or “Look at him trying to speak proper.” I quickly developed the following retorts: “I’m trying to act like I have sense” and “I’m not trying to speak proper, but I am trying to speak properly.”
It doesn’t stop there. Some White people don’t know what to make of me. Before I corrected one of my peers, who was fond of saying that “I was Whiter than he is” or because I take pride in my appearance and being cordial, respectful, he was surprised at how aggressive and how well I played basketball. He’d invited me to play. After we finished playing, he said, “I had no idea you could play that good.” I wanted to be angry but I let it slide. I said, “That’s all I did growing up. We played all day.”
But, thanks for sharing. I appreciate it.
If people would just use their heads.
It has always been very simple for me, I treat others with respect because I have self-respect. I am not an age-ist, race-ist or sex-ist, I am a behavior-ist. Nothing anyone can do or say that will get me riled up as quick as bad behavior.
hey EasTex, you out there brother? people on TFB are getting concerned. hope all is well, it would be nice to hear from you on the TFB board again.
EasTex. Hope all is well buddy. You are sorely missed here on the TFB board and hope everything is okay. Please stop in and say hello when you can!
Hey, EasTex. Just checking in w/ you. A lot of your old friends on TFB are rightly worried about you w/ the 5 month absence. If you’re busy or whatever…understood. But a quick appearance would rest some minds. Prayers up that you are well wherever you are and whatever you are doing. Hoping to hear from you.
Probably no big deal, ET, but Just a quick note noting your extended absence on the forum and hoping you’re okay.
Me and a bud of mine are going to meet up at a local gun shop tomorrow and buy some more AR platform weapons. Concerned about unilateral actions taking place, and you never know when you are going to have a problem with feral hogs. 🙂
The first gun show of the year out in Arizona was this past weekend. Reports were the attendees had trouble getting near a table because of all the people there. I expect that to be the case for the near future at every gun show.
I avoid the shows for that reason. Fortunately I have FFL friends and the local shops make sure we have everything we need.
Y’all have one of the biggest in the country in Tulsa. Bet that place will be a zoo the first show they have this year.
I’d be right there with you if I did not have so much going on in my family life.
People can be parents at a young age, but it takes a man to raise a child. Fwiw, Dede Westbrook is a parent and by all means appears to cherish that role.. I think if Dalton had been more forthcoming he’d have found that Stoops is extremely partial to family situations.
good advice…….from a few small town girls to thousands of coeds…….watch out dalton!
Funny, that was my first take away from the article as well. Kids with multiple children at that age, especially if it also involves multiple relationships, are usually in for a life of drama that is well beyond what they are prepared to deal with. I certainly wish him the best and hope he quickly develops the maturity required for his situation.
Mama always said to put your rubbers on if it was raining outside…..
well, reading the article, I was checking off the difficulties of his journey and things seem sorta worked out, then ya get near the end and, btw, there’s another kid on the way…….geez………in any event, don’t ya know the pride he will have when he earns that schollie………….good luck to him
This seemed rather anti-climatic to me.

Here’s a shocker.

Not a threat to us.
oh, good news………while catching up here and watching the news, the n koreans just tested a hydrogen bomb
Ah, those pesky little bastards.
Yeah no big deal right?
ooo
They are so “Ronery.”
/and dangerous
For self defense, of course…because hydrogen bombs are good for self defense.
Also, I doubt they did test one, but that’s just me.
Too bad they didn’t have a misfire and nuked their own country- I would say back to the Stone Age but I think they are just a few decades evolved, from that era.
