2017 OL Tyrese Robinson Commits To Oklahoma

Apologies for the delay, but there was a basketball game to be won.
And now that business was taken care of, we can move on to the Sooners continuing to add to their hot start in the 2017 recruiting cycle. They do so in the form of 2017 offensive lineman Tyrese Robinson, who is in Norman for OU’s Junior Day event and announced his commitment via Twitter.

Maverick, there isn’t really other competitors out there that cold pull him away. OU checks the box on distance from home, academics, prestige, coaching staff, and revelance

Unfortunately we have bandwagon fans like the rest of the elite teams, but Oklahoma fans are pretty welcoming folks for sure. We always treat opposing fans with respect.

2017 going to be a monster year for recruiting. Loving the way this class is shaping up.
We are going to get a lot of exposure and be on big stage TV a lot next year. I hope we don’t blow it. Would love to dust tOSU, UH and the usual suspects in prime time.
B/R ran a top 50 games list for 2016, and half our schedule was on there. Lots of opportunities to impress next year. Going to be a big one for the future.
Opener on national TV and tOSU game will most likely be a ESPN Game Day event.
Can’t wait til we play Houston, already got tickets. Just the waiting sucks.

Indy I understand where your coming from brother. Recruiting is vicious now days and that does intend to happen sometimes. But his heart is in it, never seen him as excited yesterday in my life. He’s a really humble respectable kid, to humble at times in my opinion. But I told him do what makes you happy but at the same time giving you the best chance of success. And OU is the answer. As a family were neutral on teams, this is all on him.

My lone question for recruiting…….What’s roster depth at Left Tackle and D-End for 2016??
We should be fine at tackle. DE? Who knows but we should be deep enough. Looks like we are going to stick with the 3-4 which means we will be playing undersized guys in Ward and dimon. They fit a 4-3 better.
Do we have a nose tackle on campus for a 3-4?

Wade and Romar played nose. Overton and gallimore can. We will be able to recruit one next year since we aren’t taking one this year.
Galimore can, but he’s made it known he wants to be a 3 gap more so than a 1 gap player.
Galimore and Lampkin are the heir to both de spots. Lucky we got beef in the wings and hogmollys more suited for the 3-4 and taken on multiple blockers.
Gallimore was like 345 mid season, can he really play DE?
That is yet to be seen.. I remember it was sticking point in his recruitment. Ohio state wanted him to be a more traditional nose, but Monty used that recruiting magic and assured him he would be a de in a 3-4, but it is possible he might of ate his way into a nose.
Might have been good weight, or he trimmed down, since he just ran a 4.7 last week.

In a 3-4 defence your DE’s are ask to hold their own aginst mutiple blockers on any given play, and keep the MLB’s clean. Most guys that play that position are at least 6’3 or 4ish 285+.
He definitely fits that bill lol.

See he holds an offer from texsa, already, as well as TCU. Anyone know if he’s already been to texsa for JR day or unofficially? If so, already has seen all Charlie has to offer so one less worry.
Haven’t been there for junior day yet, coach song has visit his school , but at this moment OU has set the bar very high
This kid has NFL written all over him and Coach B is the best man for the job of getting him ready. Huge commit for the Sooners. So exciting!!
Coach B is the main guy who sold us and him on OU. Don’t get me wrong the other coaches are great as well, but you really do get a good family like vibe with entire OU staff. The NFL one day sounds very good but he needs to help OU get that national championship first….

He’ll definitely be a strong foundation piece on the line for multiple years to come. Hopefully between now and the 17′ season we pick up more top tier players. But after another great season coming they’ll start falling more inline.

Guess this really speaks to the theory that making the playoffs mostly helps the recruiting class for the year after.

Yep, that’s why we wanted to get him to a college where they could really help him develop at the next level. OU has a great track record of doing just that. Strength and conditioning staff are amongst the best along with Coach B.
