2017 CB Trajan Bandy Commits To Oklahoma

There had been some talk heading into the weekend that Oklahoma could be receiving a commitment from a 2017 cornerback, but the name being bandied about was not that of Trajan Bandy.
However that did not deter the talented Miami product from becoming the latest member of OU’s 2017 class after committing Sunday afternoon.

Bandy is quite the coup for DBs coach Kerry Cooks, both as a potential centerpiece for the secondary and going down and pulling one of the top kids out of a talent rich state like Florida. Now obviously it’s a long way until 2017 NSD, but assuming the commitment holds this is a big win for both Cooks and Oklahoma.

Wonderful to get a talent of his caliber in a talented rich state such as Florida but it scares me cause its so early in the process. But for the time being Boomer Sooner.
He doesn’t hold an offer from any of the big Florida schools so yes, that will be something we’ll have to fight through eventually.
Love this kid’s film. Very quick and very physical. 4* talent who has a ton of who’s who offers from the sec Bama, LSU, Tenn, Mich. Long way till signing day but … also seems very personable. Another kid who could help recruit other top kids. #Soonersquad17

2017 class looks like it might be the best one we’ve had since the early 2000s. Need to get that home grown talent committed and out there helping lock up others recruits.
Hoping this commit will help convince Broiles and Brown to get in the schooner ‘sooner’. Would think 3 CBs would be it for this class and would like these 2 homegrown athletes to complete that position group.
We r on the same page, I want justin and tre but I keep recruiting the top DB’s and if they screw around like the olineman from lawton did just like him they don’t get a spot, if they want to be in norman get on board, cause the train will leave without them

2016 Class had 7 – 4* players (8 if you still count Youngquest) and 1 – 5* and the 2017 class has 6 – 4*’s already. Wow this is shaping up to be a special class!

Neither of those are comparable…both committed late in the process. But there’s probably a chance we lose a couple of these guys. However the one who seems most likely to look around is Robison and he’s committed still and for a qb that’s gold because they don’t like goofing around with their recruitment.
33% of the top 100 ESPN De-Committed last yr. from the team they originally verballed. I hope we get really solid kids this year but the sign of the times says we’ll lose about 30% of our original verbals.

Might be early in the process but it’s better to be in this position (having his commitment) than trying to get in in February 2017. Never know, this kid might like Perine and Kendall…. Thier commitment and their word are the same thing.

Like it or not, kids look at rankings. They want to play with other highly ranked recruits. If we can get the kids we want, AND be highly ranked while doing it, all the better.

Yeah it is. Their bolts are military grade,which I checked before I bought it. So yeah imo it’s as good as a Colt. Just avoid the Wyndham with the carbon fiber lower receiver. It’s their low end one and I don’t trust carbon fiber for ar’s. And you’re welcome.

Sam : bandy is a quality prospect ( 4 star) with schools like Alabama on him…..OU has him for the moment but can OU keep him for another year ? It couldn’t keep Cobbs or Daniels….Bandy is a target for every D-1 program and he’s half a continent away from Norman…Hopefully OU will sign him . We’ll see as the spring turns into Fall and recruiting really heats up…..

Really excited about ’17 momentum we have going right now. Considering all the things we have working in our favor right now we have a great chance to turn this in to a real special season both on the field and laying a foundation for the next few years…
1. Coming off playoff berth and returning good young talent
2. A proven leader/winner at the QB helm
3. Perine/Mixon
4. Oline that in my eyes will be improved this season even with the two seniors gone
5. Stout/deep Dline
6. Young innovative OC in second year with program
7. MS’s second year in the press box where I believe he’s proven to be better
8. Couple of really high profile OOC games next season
9. NEW STADIUM AND FACILITY RENOVATIONS
If we spend another season in the spotlight pushing for a playoff birth along with the facility and stadium upgrades there is no reason we can’t get the national perception of the program back to where it was in the early 2000’s even without a NC.
Even with the terribly disappointing loss to Clemson in the playoff last season there is a lot to be optimistic for in Soonerland.

I am curious. Now that he’s verbally committed, does the OU staff have any thing to offer in the way of his strength and conditioning? His nutrition? Do they communicate with his high school coaches on areas to work on and suggestions on drills and such for him?
Being committed has no effect on their relationship. It is not a category the NCAA recognizes. They are still just a recruit as far as the rules go.

A verbal committment is not worth the paper that it’s not written on. It seems to be the fashion these days for kids to give an early verbal, and then bask in the attention they get from other suitors trying to flip them. Hope that’s not the case with OU’s verbals, but in each case OU still has a lot of work to do to over the next year to “always be closing.” No vig without the sig.

Great get. Another take away for me is that nearly all the recruits show themselves in OU throwback jersey’s. It just shows you what really is important to these kids. They love those things. Now we just need for Bob to make that great DT coaching hire and hopefully get up to speed at DT. I think that is the weakest area of recruiting due to so many changes. It takes a year or even two for assistants to build those relationships once they get to their new schools. Just a great pick. Looks like he will recruit for OU too and that is invaluable.
