Open Post | Wednesday, Jun. 17th (UPDATE 4:53 pm)

– Levi Draper: Admittedly it feels somewhat silly to be creating an entire Open Post for a single 2017 offer, but given the life of its own things kind of took on amongst OU fans it almost felt necessary to do so.

It would appear Sooner Nation can now take a collective sigh of relief.

The offer to 2017 LB Levi Draper has finally been officially extended.

Feel free to carry on about your day.

– UPDATE (1:20 pm): 2016 OU commit & JUCO wide receiver, Ryan Parker, picked up an offer from Texas today.

– UPDATE (4:53 pm): Sooners make the Top 5 cut for 2016 OT Parker Boudreaux, who also says he is planning to announce his commitment at the end of the summer.

      JH interview??

      • Zack says:

James hale interviewed draper and I think was the start of the chaos earlier today.

        • BoomerDave says:

I know a lot of people around here don’t like James, but I do appreciate the fact that he gets guys to come on his program and let’s us hear things straight from their mouths. He also had the NEO coach on his program today to talk about Chandler and Roberts. I, for one, learn things I never would have known otherwise.

        • RocketCitySooner says:

Thanks. Though JH might have been Josh Heupel.

  • Sooner Ray says:

Why has he not committed yet, what’s he waiting on? LOL!

  • Brien Brown says:

I think it’s safe to say one was coming but, hopefully it was our of the respect that they truly did evaluate him and are building a relationship vs. they just doing it cause everyone else was. Either way I am glad we offered and I think the kid will be a stud he is a stud, But, I’ll say it again if he wants to be a Sooner he will be if not he won’t, mean look at me all be obvious about it lol!

  • Fear The Magic says:

Great! Now all we have to do is get Monty back to seal the deal.

  • Indy_sooner says:

I feel good on our chances with young Levi. We have a stable of backers this year and a need for more depth next year.

  • DCinAZ says:

A sight of relief? Seems like the battle has just begun from what I read about the soured relationship the other day on here. I’ll breath a sigh of relief when he signs. LOL

  • Malicong says:

Glad to see it happen reguardless of the timing.
Now that the Draper drama has ended, let the Caleb Kelly to Michigan rumors freak out begin.

    • Brien Brown says:

Kelly to Michigan WHATTTTTT!!! LOL well played, don’t care really I think OU is very much in good graces with him!

      • Malicong says:

I do too, but with a dead period coming up and fall camp still a bit off, there has to be a freak out of some kind.

      • soonerthunder says:

PLEASE. . . don’t take away something for me to worry about. Please, I need drama. Pls, pls, pls let it be true Caleb Kelly is flirting with Mich. You can’t take all the things for OU fans to worry about in one day b/f replacing them w/some other drama first!!!!

    Is it September 1st?

    • Brien Brown says:

I’d even go for late August at least then I can do Fantasy drafts watch some Pre-Season, know more or less who the Sooners starting lineup will be you know stuff like that!

  • Lincoln Hawk says:

BOOM!!!! Maurice Chandler per his twitter.

  • Jeremy Phillips says:

    Update!

  • KJ1123 says:

Tell Denzel to get off his break and give us that boom already!

  • SoonerOracle737 says:

I think Draper’s attitude about the offer not being official lit a fire under some coaches’ rear end. Glad it happened though. Great kid.

  • JB says:

    About time!!!

  • KJ1123 says:

Now…lets get some LBs in the mix please.

  • Jeff says:

Looks like Stoner to the Pukes

  • Slim Sooner says:

Good deal. Glad the drama is over for all of us who were overwrought with concern and fretting the intelligence of our recruiters the past few weeks! Young man looks like a future star. Now, if it’s truly meant to be, hope he will be a Sooner someday.

    • Brien Brown says:

No now means until he commits we will hear all about the back and forth, will he won’t he why won’t he. Yawn anyways how much longer until the season kicks off?

  • Zack says:

So is quillen(so?) the next okpreps we need to be demanding OU offer?

    • Brien Brown says:

Quillen is listed as a “16 prospect and believe he is currently committed to Vandy for what it’s worth!

  • Jason Vos says:

Told u cry babies that Draper will get an offer. Didn’t see what all the fuss was about. The guy is a freaking 2017 recruit. Yes 2017, that 2 yrs away smh.

  • BleedCrimson says:

    G-Day minus 80
    Stephen Alexander

    • EasTex says:

There were some bright spots in those dark days.

      • BleedCrimson says:

Yes sir, I think that Bob proved that we had the talent here, by winning it all in his second season.

    • 47 Straight OU Know says:

Thanks for posting. Some people look forward to “The Countdown”.

    • cush creekmont says:

I enjoy your countdown. Still, Ricky Bryan and Dan Cody kind of send #80 greetings.

    • Sooner 4Ever says:

Sorry, I love Stephen Alexander, but I have to disagree with the selection today. There are still Texas quarterbacks from the mid-80s who pee the bed at night having nightmares about Troy Johnson closing on them with that great speed he had.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=17&v=mkvll_xaa8Q

      • BleedCrimson says:

Another great selection. I will add him to my list of favorite #80’s

        • Sooner 4Ever says:

I was a Sooner a fan from about ’75 on… but was only 3 in ’75. When I really grew into my Sooner fandom started in 82; I turned 10 and began to better understand the game and learned to follow the players and see who the game changers were.

How lucky for me to come to know football, and as an OU fan, when we were fielding a front 7 that included Tony Casillas, Ricky and Scott Bryan, Darryl Reed, Kevin Murphy and Troy Johnson. Linebackers Bozworth, Paul Miggliazo, Jackie Shipp, Thomas Benson and Dante Jones.

I have no doubt that you could line those guys up against just about any offense in today’s college game and they would dominate despite the evolution in athletic training, etc. in modern college football. Those guys were tough, strong and FAST.

I love, love, love the defense of 2000-2005 era of OU football… but they are at best a close 2nd to what we ran out there in the mid-80s.

  • Fear The Magic says:

Speaking of Levis Why isnt OU going after this kid???

    Levi Onwuzurike from Allen Tx.

    Someone notify the coaches stat!

  • Matt says:

Whats the story with Ty Darlington? Should we expect him to
get owned by the Malcolm Brown’s of the big 12 again or might he be able to
hold his own this year? Is he maybe even a legit all-conference candidate?

    • Stephen says:

Haha wait, what???? OU was pretty good at OL last year with Darlington, I don’t see this year being much different than last even with new guys on the line.

    • soonerthunder says:

if anyone had trouble blocking malcom brown they have no business playing football on any level, including junior high. worst decision in nfl history to draft that guy in the 1st round.

      • Indy_sooner says:

I may have my crimson shades but c’mon now…. 40 tackles, 7 sacks- probably one of the best Tackles in CFB last year. J.Philips by comparison 20/2 and missed 1st round by a whisker. Just trying to be real here.

      • Brien Brown says:

Just because he was a Longhorn I see why he gets some hate, but, if he was a Sooner we would love the guy, he may have been by some a bust but, he was solid last year for sure.

      • j l says:

He had 13 TFL as a DT, phillips had 7. Sounds like the NFL scouts have a bit better idea of football than us fans do.

      • Bob Edwards says:

I am assuming this is sarcasm which everyone missed?

        • EasTex says:

The /s tag is our friend.

        • soonerthunder says:

Not everyone. You didn’t and I doubt some others did either. In a backdoor way trying to defend Darlington.

          • Bob Edwards says:

I got that. But probably too subtle for the original poster. Next time use a 2×4 with a couple of 10″ spikes in it. Nah, that is probably too subtle too.

        • soonerthunder says:

i think nfl linemen are going to hv their hands full w/that dude. glad he’s gone. literally one guy that good might make the entire ut defense seem a lot more normal next yr

    • Bob Edwards says:

I would suggest meeting him face to face and asking him.

    • Brien Brown says:

OK only one of the most solid Lineman we have had the last few years and I don’t think he had any issues blocking we had more issues last year than TU and OSU combined last year

    • j l says:

He was playing last year at 286, now hes over 300 i believe. Should hold his own much better this year.

  • OceanDescender says:

Well whaddaya know…. Time to spin the wheel and find a new reason to freak out haha.

    • Jake says:

Well he hasn’t given his verbal yet!!! Fire Kish and fire Levi’s dad as well!!!!

  • Jordan Esco says:

    update added

  • Ed Cotter says:

That would be a major coup if Parker B ended up at Georgia Southern. Just found that inclusion rather interesting is all.

    • Dustin says:

Their program is definitely on the rise. I think they’ll beat WVU this season. I wouldn’t be surprised if they started reeling in some really good recruits.

      • Ed Cotter says:

That’s all well and good, just not Parker B. or any player OU is after. LOL

        • Dustin says:

It’s gonna happen. Probably not with Boudreaux. Maybe a “3-star” DT from Macon that OU offers in December. Gonna happen, though.

    • EasTex says:

I’m not certain I could bear the disappointment if that big rascal doesn’t sign with OU.
Kendall is considered the center piece of our 2016 class, Boudreaux would be the table that center piece would be displayed on.

    • John Garner says:

Aren’t they in Conf. USA? Didn’t they win it or am I hallucinating? Maybe it’s the Sunbelt I’m thinking of.

  • Jake says:

Yeah, what is up with Georgia Southern? My nephew picked them over Vandy last yr after OU never offered. I thought he was nuts, but maybe he knows something I don’t.

  • Sooner Ray says:

I like the way we’re positioned on the top five poster. P-Money, action shot, OU, right down the middle…….everything else is just decoration. :-0

  • SamSooner says:

I really like Parker Boudreaux. The fact that Georgia Southern is in his top 5 says a lot about this young man.

  • Cory Reedy says:

I REALLY want Parker Boudreaux. His name. His look. I LOVE everything about this dude. I think he will play on Sundays.

  • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

Silent commit, boys and girls. OU couldn’t keep the silent commit secret anymore by not offering him.

  • Randy says:

    The Prototype OLB http://t.co/6Mbwqj7ev3

    • Defend Colfax says:

Love that kid’s film. He has a nose for the ball and he isn’t afraid of coming downhill and blowing up a play by stuffing the fullback. Hopefully with our frequent trips to Maryland someone will stop in to see him.

    • Fear The Magic says:

He looks good but I dont think OU is even on his radar.

  • joe marble says:

In the picture of Parker it looks like he is pooping Florida.
