– Are the Sooners Expecting Another Commit?: Oklahoma picked up a commitment from 2017 defensive back Justin Broiles (OKC) on Monday, and shortly thereafter we’d been told the Sooners were expecting another possible commitment later that same day. Evidenced by, as many of you are probably aware already, several of OU’s other current commits tweeting out “8/8” that afternoon.

What we’ve been told is that the OU staff did receive word from a recruit, who had planned to announce their commitment later in the day. However after having some time to think about it, they chose to hold off for now so as not to take any attention away from Broiles’ decision to commit to OU. That said, we’ve been told an announcement from said recruit is likely to come before the end of the week. But as with all things recruiting, plans can always change. But for now it appears as though the Sooners could be in for some more good news on the recruiting front if everything goes as planned.
And as you also likely saw, OU’s commits also starting alluding to a possible ninth commitment in this 2017 class with tweets of “9/9.”

Naturally, there is a lot of speculation as to who No. 9 could be. We spoke with a couple people regarding one of the names rumored to be a possibility, but this person said they were not aware of any impending commitment. While we are not a liberty to share the recruit’s name, we can tell you it would not be at all overselling it in saying it’s the name of a big time prospect. And even though a commitment may not be the likelihood as some were alluding to yesterday, the simple fact that this recruit — who I (Super K) didn’t personally think OU really had much of a chance with — is clearly communicating with the other OU commits can only be good news for the Sooners. – (Super K & Brandon)
– Jalen Reagor: 2017 WR and Texas Tech commit Jalen Reagor (Waxahachie, TX) announced Monday night that he will visit Oklahoma on March 25th. I asked Reagor if the Sooners have offered to which he said, “No, but they said once I get down there they will.”
Reagor said despite his commitment to Tech, he has “high interest” in the Sooners. Adding that he really likes ‘the program in general and how they developed guys like Sterling Shepard.’
There is just a lot of regional energy right now with Oklahoma and I expect them to continue to bring in recruits from around the area for practices this spring. – (Super K)

Chris Robison is the #185 player in the country, according to 247. Draper is #85 I believe, and the #2 ILB in the country. Going by those numbers, Draper is more likely to get a 5* rating.

I think there is potential here for this to be a really special class. Not just from a talent standpoint but in personality as well. The way it looks now, and yes it is way early in the process, this group seems to really like and feed off one another. People want to be a part of something special and this group of recruits bonding this was will only help to add more talented players. Boomer!

Well, I only talked to one Div-1 school and it was for basketball. But Billy Tubbs told me I was too short and too white to play for him. LOL! I ended up going to a JUCO school in KS but quit school before my first game. UGH! Stupid me!

I’ve obliterated both of my ankles and cracked the back of my rib. Fortunately, that’s about the worst that happened during my sporting experience.
Yep, my knee cap was 180 degrees from where it was supposed to be. The doctor who did my surgery said it was the worst he had seen in his 20+ years. Took like 4300 stitches on the inside and 15 on the outside. My scars are gone now and that knee is still doing great. Of course golf is about the only sport it is used for now. LOL

Yes, I can still hear the pop in made in my head. And that was more than 30 years ago! I did not feel pain at first, but then my coach tried to “pop” my knee back into place. That is when it started hurting.

My football career lasted my 8th and 9th grade years. I spent most practices both years sitting on the sideline looking for 4 leaf clovers in the field we used for practice. I never played my 8th grade year. During my 9th grade year, since I was not good at football, my dad made a bet with me he was sure he’d win. I wanted a motorcycle so he told me if I could sack the quarterback in a game he’d buy me one. The first game of the season we were ahead handily so I pestered my coach the entire 3rd quarter and early 4th quarter to put me in. I was finally put in the game with about 3 minutes to play at defensive end. (a position i had never practiced/played before). The first play from scrimmage I was buried about 2 foot deep by a tight end who outweighed me about 100 pounds. The 2nd play I went unblocked and sacked the quarterback, causing and recovering a fumble. I never played another down of organised football in my life after those 2 plays, but I got my motorcycle about a week later.
That is an awesome story! I played DE because I was quick. I got a lot of sacks, but I hated it on running plays. The o-linemen would run me over like I was a feather. I got good at grabbing and pinching and all kinds of nasty things. My coach played me at MLB some too, I loved that position, but I was not big enough for it.
I was way too small for football. In 8th and 9th grade i was lucky to be 100 pounds. I was 5’10” and weighed about 140 when I graduated. I was a scratch golfer in High School and ended up putting all my time and efforts into my golf game as the top player on my schools golf team.
That is awesome! I would love to play scratch golf. Sadly, I do not play enough to get there. I’m lucky if I can keep my hdcp to around 12 – 14. I played golf in HS but did not take it seriously. It was a time when we hid beer in our golf bags and drank them once we got on the course. Our golf coach taught my mother when she was in HS, so he was an old fart when I got there. LOL
I played WR in middle school , my team ran the ball 99% of the time and that 1 pass play would be a pitch to the RB with an option to throw the ball.

Bandy is recruiter of the year (so far)! WOW, love this guy already. Can’t wait til he gets to Norman and busts some heads.
I really love seeing OU attack their base. Don’t get me wrong I love California and Florida kids as well as our national recruits but, it is really nice seeing all the work going in on the Oklahoma and Texas kids.
Not sure if it’s really that different other than the fact that there’s just more talent this year and more chemistry between those recruits.

Well as most of you know I am a Thompson family fan 100%. However I do not know if he will come to the Good Guys after the last fiasco. But then again Josh is no longer here. So I could definitely be wrong. I myself believe Charles has a strong impression on letting his kids choose their own path. I dont care what anyone says he has paid his dues and I have not seen him in a long time but if I was to see him today and needed help he would give me the shirt right off of his back. Lincoln would be a great coach for Casey.

Don’t think Casey is coming to OU. He goes to my barbershop along with his father, younger brother Cade and Kendal sometimes shows up. The barbers have asked him if he was going to OU and he shrugs his shoulders saying he don’t know. He really seems interested in out of state schools. Like Oregon, A&M n etc. He deserves to go wherever he wants n I hope he chooses OU, but he just doesn’t seem to excited about OU.
That could all change with an offer. Currently, OU is not an option for him.

Well if you follow his twitter account, his header is OU, his OU offer is pinned to the top, and he’s only retweeted everything OU. Doesn’t look MSU at all.
Most have him 100% to MSU, which makes sense, but twitter/tweets definitely indicate he’s all OU.

Come in and be focused on nothing but playing immediately and he’ll be fine. All the other stuff (that comes with college life) will be there after the season.
No doubt about that. Obviously, it’s a wait & see deal. But, by all accounts, he comes off like a kid who is going to bring his hard hat & get to work every day.
The situation is set up for him. Ricky came in and was stuck behind Bond and Eric. Caleb is coming in with flat out competition at every LB spot but Jordans. You have to capitalize on it.
KJ do you have any info on how Deberry looks? Lehman wasn’t too high on him but he said thats just from watching him in drills.

Samia was a blip on the screen when he came in. Awards are cool and all, but HS is HS, it’s how he approaches it that will make all the difference in the world. I will say a consensus 5 star (except for ehspen) does have a better chance at starting for sure.

Pair him inside with Evans maximize his coverage skills or OLB.. use his pure athleticism to beat tackles..
I think I’d use him on the outside, he covers well in the flats and I think he’s bid enough to take on the tackles. He runs really well.
I’m more worried about that ILB position opposite of Jordan.
I only see Tay or Curtis has options.
No knock on them, it just seems there’s no depth there.
Kelly is an OLB but he may do well sitting ILB. That would also gives you up to three pass rushers on the field. Then you can start mixing zone blitz packages.
I think my LBs would be Kelly – JMT – Jordan – Doucet…but the chances of 2 freshmen starting is obviously slim. But I like JMTs sizes and if he’s athletic as they say, he may be a really good one in the middle.
Sooner or later, the middle of our defense is going to be the most painful place on the football field to find yourself (if you’re the opposition).

Wish EasTex was here to speak for himself but he really likes Murray’s skills and even more, his will to win. Said he saw him put his team on his shoulders and carry them many times. Has a quick, compact release. Excited to have him on the team.
A lot of people are doubting Kyler Murray because of his height. His heart and will to win is unmeasurable. This kid is going to be amazing.
I would also say it’s from the situation with A&M, didn’t find a lot of success and had issues with the coaching staff. They made it seem like it was Murray thing but they lost 3 other highly rated QB’s to the same issues (coaching staff). He shouldn’t have those problems that held him back here in Norman.

Just watched a clip on Twitter of Hulk in practice. I hope I don’t catch flack for this but here goes…dude looks like a Bama LB. Big, thick and intimidating. I watch them and sometimes say to myself “where the hell did they find these guys?!” I hope big boy can get on the field and dish some punishment out! I liked what I saw in that brief clip. Boomer!

Haha. No. Guys like Hightower and Ragland weren’t burners but had a profound impact on games with their physical play. I very much dislike Alabama so I considered not making the post. With that being said they seem to have thumpers in the middle every year (sans Moseley) and its worked pretty darn well for them. I know the front has a lot to do with that but I think our front is gonna be pretty stout this year. More than anything my point was he certainly looks the part and I hope the play mirrors the look.
Just remember that those types of LB’s can’t hang in this conference. They’re too slow, which is why OU recruits guys who can cover pretty well.

It would appear that he’d be a good ILB. I don’t have any evidence of his ability to swivel and such, but Donta Hightower, for example, wasn’t an ice skater. Hulk may not be CJ Mosley, but does he have to be? Not sure.
It would be hard to deliver that punishment if all the WRs he could punish all are ten times faster than he is…
