– Hunter Rison: Earlier this month the Sooners offered 2017 WR Hunter Rison (Ann Arbor, MI), who is the son of former Michigan State and NFL receiver, Andre Rison. The younger Rison is an athletic and polished player, in part, due to the coaching of his father. And trusting his father when it comes to football, not surprisingly, comes pretty easy. “I know that he knows what it takes to be a dominant player at the next level and that’s all I want so I listen to every word,” Rison told TFB.
A lot of folks may assume that with Rison’s father having played at Michigan State, he would be a lock to end up there as well. But the younger Rison says “that’s not the case at all.” In fact, Rison said the Sooners are “easily one of my top schools.” He also let TFB know there are plans in the works for a trip to Norman later this spring.
Rison said he is being recruited by several OU coaches including: Dennis Simmons, Cale Gundy, Lincoln Riley & even Bob Stoops. But he also went on to add that the person who has been recruiting him the hardest isn’t an OU coach at all, rather a 2017 Sooners commit in DB Trajan Bandy. “He (Bandy) is definitely someone I’d love to compete with everyday…cool guy too.”
Rison said he plans on graduating early, so now the plan as of now is to commit somewhere shortly after his senior season comes to a close. – (Brandon)
– Ceedee Lamb: As most of you know, OU wide receiver commit Ceedee Lamb (Richmond, TX) received an offer from LSU last week. Lamb moved the Houston area following Hurricane Katrina, but is originally from New Orleans and grew up an LSU fan. Shortly after the Tigers offered, there was some talk of a possible visit to Baton Rouge this past weekend. However Lamb let TFB know that visit did not in fact happen, though he says there are still plans to hopefully make it there soon.
There is no denying the threat LSU presents to OU holding on to Lamb’s commitment. If and when Lamb makes that LSU visit, if he leaves still committed to the Sooners it would obviously bode well with respect to OU’s chances. That said, LSU could legitimately present some level of a threat throughout the entire recruiting process. – (Super K)
– Jaylon Johnson: Oklahoma has clearly had a lot of success recruiting out west and more specifically in the Fresno area, more recently of course in the form of five-star LB Caleb Kelly. And the Sooners once again dipping into the Fresno talent pool extending an offer to 2017 DB Jaylon Johnson.
Johnson also picked up a USC offer last week, and I’m told the Trojans expect to be OU’s stiffest competition with respect to landing Johnson. But expect Johnson to visit Norman at some point, be it during the spring and/or for a game this fall. – (Super K)
– Spring Practice: As was previously announced, Oklahoma will hold their first practice of the spring this coming Saturday, March 5th. We expect a few recruits to be in attendance and will update you as to who once we have a confirmed list. As of now, though, one of the bigger names we are expecting to be on hand is that of 2017 CB & OU offer, Tre Brown. – (TFB)

that’s a picture of Finch right? I think they got the wrong #22.
Yeah, looks like it.
Hopefully Andre Rison’s son is a terrific player just like his father, except the whole “Bad Moon” part.
ROTFLOL! Great minds! I was just posting something similar to this. Good morning Dave!
Morning Golf!
I still remember the trouble Andre was in when he was in KC. Him and his buddy, with his buddy being busted for running a drug operation and the Chiefs deciding Bad Moon wasn’t worth keeping around.
Yeah, the way that went down, I always thought he paid the guy to take the fall for him.
I am an admitted conspiracy theorist
LOL! Well Vanover did have the whole thing going on out of his house. I remember how big the news story was, I lived in KC at that time. All the guys I worked with and I were scratching our heads trying to figure that out. Tamarick was making like $800k at the time and I was like, why jeopardize that?
People are stupid.
SIF
OU will be a nice ‘fall back’ home for him until Mich St offers.
————————-
Which one are you?
Or simply this…..
half full.
Ok then it’s the one below based on your answer.
If you think your half full, I must disagree. You are 100% full of …………….
Love the offer on Rison, I just hope he has a better attitude than his dad did.
I have always wanted to be first at something, anything but alas Jordan once again denied me the opportunity.
You are a Sooner, you are ALWAYS first, no matter what!
Heck yeah!
Well, bless your heart.
TFB is on their A game this morning fast OP.
Yep. Good stuff!
what do you guys think Sanchez runs his 40 in? I’m thinking 4.55 or 4.50 at the fastest.
I was really surprised at his bench numbers.
I honestly would be shocked if he ran a 4.50. I was thinking it would be a around 4.55 – 4.58, sadly.
yeah wouldn’t surprise me.
I think he is quick.. So I’m gonna say 4.45 give or take a couple hudredths of a second..
If you ever watch Sanchez run in open field he looks pretty fast but I don’t think his first ten yards is supper fast. So I will go with 4.48 slow start but top speed will make it up.
He will definitely run a sub 4.5.
I hope you prove me wrong and are right on that.
I’m a fan of Sanchez but I believe his 40 will be closer to 4.6.
Shoes?
4.54 is my guess
4.60
Huge, huge upcoming basketball game against Baylor. Sooners must find a way to win this one or they could inconceivably be the 6th seed in the Big12 tournament. Who’d a thunkit.
Didn’t Tre Brown tweet that he was going to be at Arkansas this weekend?
4 more days until spring practice folks and we get a look at all the redshirt freshmen we were all so high on at this time last year!
Yup, I’m expecting this defense not only look a little different (new players) but feel different. Deberry/Gallimore/PJ are three players that bring nfl size that’s been missing in each level of the D. Need to bring physicality/aggressiveness if we want to win our 8th.
***Starts salivating***
Look for Parker to be an All-American as well.
Should be an interesting spring. I’m looking forward to seeing how the offense progresses in year 2.
Right there with you on that 1
Baker needs to opt for the dump off more often. It not only eliminates the need to risk injury, but brings up the defense.
I can’t help but think there’s more to the offense than what we’ve seen so far. I expect it to evolve and develop in some ways. I don’t know what that’ll look like, but it should be fun to see, although there’s a good chance they won’t show anything this spring.
My boy Cody Ford and Will Sunderland , those boys are ready to eat.
Bad Moon Rison Jr. I like it. Kids got good ball awareness and straight line speed.
As long as his Dad’s attitude doesn’t come with him.
…or any crazy gf’s. Don’t need any fires.
No kidding!
KJ, whos the redshirt freshman or sophomore you’re most excited about seeing this spring?
There’s a few, but Rodney A, Ricky D, Neville and Duvonta stand out for me. I’m interested to see if they can push for starting time in a 4-3.
is that the word, that they’re moving back to a 4-3?
I hope we don’t go to a 4-3 we have no true pass rusher at DE for a 4-3..
no kidding not to mention all the linebackers in this class are 3-4 guys
Yeah not yet at least. I think Kenneth Mann has potential to be a good pass rusher, but he needs a little more work.
I am hoping and counting on him to be that OLB that Grissom almost was..
is Mann playing OLB and not DE?
I thought he was working at DE, but not sure what he’s been lined up at during the winter.
Not sure yet, should know Sat.. Lol.
True, but I think DJ Ward is going to be a solid starter for us next year.
Senior HS.. didn’t play
Freshmen year.. Redshirt Spleen removed- out.
Essentially two years off of football.
2014 practice and strength
2015 gets back to football
2016 Makes a leap and starts.
Probably not the true pass rusher but I think he will end up with 5.5 sacks on the year.
I think the base will still be a 3-4.
I think we want to have as many groupings as possible w/o confusion.
Since we don’t have a lot of “two dimensional” players. Size/Speed.
We need to be as multiple as possible per opponent.
adding in the 4-3 groupings throughout summer and expand in season could help us in the playoffs.
I agree, I wish we had more elaborate blitz packages. But we need some solid DBs too. We are going to have some speedy LBs we should put the pressure on.
have you heard anything about how Tay Evans and Bolton have looked behind the scenes?
I watched the Evans brothers play in HS so I hope they come on strong especially Tay. Also, Cody Ford as he is the type of guy Bedenboom likes.
I like Ford too, hope he continues to progress and hold down that LG spot.
Would have been nice to see Tapper and C Walker at DE in a 4-3 this past year tho.. But like M Stoops basically said had to get Striker on the field.. Then Bond.
I believe Walker should be a 3 tech in a 4-3
Probably, but there is the problem with DE in a 4-3 no pass rushers.
Probably, but there is the problem with DE in a 4-3 no pass rushers.
PJ Mbansor is my most important player to watch.
New DB in a spread throw happy league is going to get picked on a lot.
Equates to either a player losing his confidence OR more opportunities to make big plays
Me,too, plus Que and PJ.
Assuming that 3-4 would still be the basic package with an occasional switch to the 4-3 when circumstances deem?
Sorry, see where you expanded on that down below.
Overton?
KJ, whos the redshirt freshman or sophomore you’re most excited about seeing this spring?
do you have your human intel, drones, hidden cameras, hot coeds lined up for the real scoop on spring practice………..counting on you
Hahaha construction in throwing a wrench in the cameras.
Um what about hot coeds?
I can’t put cameras on them…….or can I???

Bummer.

Not running, not lifting…hmm.
he lifted.. tied for 2nd among DBs on bench press with 19 reps. He probably just figured his time was going to be slow enough on a regular track he didn’t want it to be even slower in Indy.I haven’t seen a vert for him though.
Ah ok , I thought he wasn’t lifting as well. Makes sense about him not running. But he only has a week before the pro day. Hope he gets some good work in before then.
He needs to run a 4.50 to get a higher grade , The DB’s 40’s today were terrible.
Damn that’s an impress bench from a guy with long arms like his.
He lifted, and did both the vert & broad jump. Just didn’t run or go thru position drills for whatever reason.
This may have already been shared and discussed and I missed it, but what do you all think of Tennessee’s wholesale recruiting?:
http://espn.go.com/college-sports/recruiting/football/story/_/id/14852682/tennessee-volunteers-offer-scholarships-20-teammates-img-academy
Kind of risky, but I guess we will see how it works out.
Haha that’s funny..
Might as well take their name too,
Tennessee IMG Academy Volunteers sounds horrible.
They should just do like every other school. Hire one or more of their coaches.
How about Tennessee OMG Academy Volunteers. I guess it cuts down on travel expenses.
PR stunt. Waiting till now to offer a consensus 5 star? Seems like they waited to offer the kids who are no brainers until after their evaluation of some of their lower prospects.
Thinking if I’m a recruit do they really want me or do they want me for my teammates?
if Tennessee get 4-5 high quality, elite talents from that group , it was a sound strategy…….Has OU ever tried to recruit anybody except Shea Patterson from IMG ?
They offered Cesar Ruiz, a center, pretty good too. Not sure about anyone else.
It’s no wonder they have attracted such bad apples: 20 kids from the same school. You can’t offer a cluster of players, in such close proximity, and avoid a bad situation. Some of those kids are going to have issues.

Consistency!
Just another stat proving this program is the Greatest Football Program in modern day history.
Bama is threatening us though. We need a National title.

Curious on the Bryce Youngquist situation.
???
Yeah, no one wants to elaborate on whats going on. You’d think if it were medical it would be an easy explanation. Probably something personal.
I would guess that it is probably family related.
JMO, but there’s nothing easy about revealing a young person’s issue, be it medical or otherwise, when they’ve chosen not to do so themselves.
We got some more Sunshine Sooners coming to Sooner Nation , #JustWaitOnIt.
That Johnson is a pretty physical kid, plays downhill well too.
Solid off the line in bump for sure.
The feeling you get when you’re an avid gym rat and a 175-pound, noodle-armed DB can out-press you at 225.
Yeah but I bet he can’t even sniff the speed of your 2×4 swing.
Ho! U-S-A! U-S-A! 🙂
I wonder. What would a WWF/E combine look like? Would they post everyone’s cholesterol readings?
I think you’d have to include HGH levels as well.
lol, they are more strict on drug/steroid usage than the NCAA is, guarantee that. The benoit situation forced them to completely revamp their wellness policy.
He’s strong in proportion to his bodyweight. Real strong.
Well put the full court press on Jaylon Johnson with Chip Viney!
Does anyone know why Dom didn’t run a 40 at the combine???
If I was going to guess, he knew it wouldn’t be great and didn’t want to do it on a national stage. Saving it for pro day IMO but who knows.
have been told he may be dealing w a hamstring issue, but not sure how much truth there is to that considering he did both the vertical & broad jumps

Thanks Jordan!
I’m most excited to know who is doing well in practice
practices start on Saturday 😉
Yeah, I’m excited
Threw together a recap for OU guys at the Combine, if you’re interested: https://thefootballbrainiacs.com/ou-oklahoma-sooners-football-sterling-shepard-charles-tapper-devante-bond-eric-striker-2016-nfl-combine
Lol, Charles Tapper (refresh for video):

Gotta love him. Sure will miss him.
No doubt about it
I’m pretty sure this was posted here the other day (presumably by our man, RBear- haha), but just in case (refresh for image):

Better enjoy the next 6 months of bragging rights.
ugh….that game again
Post that on orange bloods. Dang, almost have to flag this. LOL
At least he got the first line correct.
who is malik jefferson?
hopefully it won’t be more than 6 mo till OU can brag some.
I can’t wait til Saturday so there is some talk about what we love…….Sooner Football. I can’t wait to hear about what is going on.
I hope re-institutes the Oklahoma Drill this year. We invented the f****** thing. NFL teams use it.

ZuZu is very hard to stop in the Oklahoma Drill.
29″, 100 pounds.
This must be the calm before the spring practice storm. 🙂
