Hunter Rison: Earlier this month the Sooners offered 2017 WR Hunter Rison (Ann Arbor, MI), who is the son of former Michigan State and NFL receiver, Andre Rison. The younger Rison is an athletic and polished player, in part, due to the coaching of his father. And trusting his father when it comes to football, not surprisingly, comes pretty easy. “I know that he knows what it takes to be a dominant player at the next level and that’s all I want so I listen to every word,” Rison told TFB.

A lot of folks may assume that with Rison’s father having played at Michigan State, he would be a lock to end up there as well. But the younger Rison says “that’s not the case at all.” In fact, Rison said the Sooners are “easily one of my top schools.” He also let TFB know there are plans in the works for a trip to Norman later this spring.

Rison said he is being recruited by several OU coaches including: Dennis Simmons, Cale Gundy, Lincoln Riley & even Bob Stoops. But he also went on to add that the person who has been recruiting him the hardest isn’t an OU coach at all, rather a 2017 Sooners commit in DB Trajan Bandy. “He (Bandy) is definitely someone I’d love to compete with everyday…cool guy too.”

Rison said he plans on graduating early, so now the plan as of now is to commit somewhere shortly after his senior season comes to a close. – (Brandon)

Ceedee Lamb: As most of you know, OU wide receiver commit Ceedee Lamb (Richmond, TX) received an offer from LSU last week. Lamb moved the Houston area following Hurricane Katrina, but is originally from New Orleans and grew up an LSU fan. Shortly after the Tigers offered, there was some talk of a possible visit to Baton Rouge this past weekend. However Lamb let TFB know that visit did not in fact happen, though he says there are still plans to hopefully make it there soon.

There is no denying the threat LSU presents to OU holding on to Lamb’s commitment. If and when Lamb makes that LSU visit, if he leaves still committed to the Sooners it would obviously bode well with respect to OU’s chances. That said, LSU could legitimately present some level of a threat throughout the entire recruiting process. – (Super K)

Jaylon Johnson: Oklahoma has clearly had a lot of success recruiting out west and more specifically in the Fresno area, more recently of course in the form of five-star LB Caleb Kelly. And the Sooners once again dipping into the Fresno talent pool extending an offer to 2017 DB Jaylon Johnson.

Johnson also picked up a USC offer last week, and I’m told the Trojans expect to be OU’s stiffest competition with respect to landing Johnson. But expect Johnson to visit Norman at some point, be it during the spring and/or for a game this fall. – (Super K)

Spring Practice: As was previously announced, Oklahoma will hold their first practice of the spring this coming Saturday, March 5th. We expect a few recruits to be in attendance and will update you as to who once we have a confirmed list. As of now, though, one of the bigger names we are expecting to be on hand is that of 2017 CB & OU offer, Tre Brown. – (TFB)
