– Deiontae Watts: We had previously reported that 2017 DT Deiontae Watts (Plano, TX) would be visiting Oklahoma this weekend, but wanted to check with him again as to whether or not that was still the case. After speaking with Watts on Wednesday night, we can confirm he is still expected to be in Norman this weekend with both of his parents.
This will be a huge opportunity for OU to make an impression and possibly even take the lead in his recruitment, as both Watts and his mother have told TFB the family are longtime OU fans. Also worth reminding that Watts is teammates with another of OU’s top 2017 targets, LB Anthony Hines. – (Super K)
– Anthony Hines: Speaking of Hines, we’ve talked with a number of people familiar with his recruiting and have been told that as of right now the Sooners ‘hold a pretty strong position’ with the highly sought after LB. One person close to the situation even went so far as to say if Hines were to decide today, the belief is that OU would be the choice.
The more I hear on Hines, the more OU continues to come up as the possible front-runner for his services. – (Super K)
– Jacob Phillips: Sticking with the LB theme, yesterday the Sooners hosted 2017 prospect, Jacob Phillips (Nashville, TN). Phillips holds a number of offers including from both in-state power five schools, Vanderbilt and Tennessee. I was only able to exchange a few text messages with Phillips yesterday — and plan on speaking to him further in the coming days — but it was pretty clear the Sooners made a good impression. “Definitely better than expected” was the way Phillips described the trip. Phillips then added the Sooners “gave him something to think about.” – (Super K)
– Trey Blount: Oklahoma also extended a new WR offer yesterday to 2017 wideout Trey Blount (Atlanta, GA), who already holds offers from a number of major programs around the country including LSU, Alabama and Georgia. But immediately after the OU offer Blount told TFB, “I plan on getting there (to Oklahoma) for a visit soon now…they (OU) are one of my top schools.”
When asked that prompted his interest in OU, Blount said he liked the program in general but is also very intrigued by the offense Oklahoma runs. – (Super K)
– Akial Byers: 2017 DT Akial Byers (Fayetteville, AR) shared with TFB that he is in Norman today on an unofficial visit. Byers is a player I (Super K) have had my eye on for a while. The Sooners recently offered to add to his list of offers from schools like Alabama, Mississippi, Missouri & several others. If you haven’t had a chance to watch his film, it is definitely worth a look.
Byers sent TFB a picture from earlier today while on said visit.

– Chuck Filiaga: Sooners are apparently hosting another big man on campus today as well, in 2017 offensive tackle prospect Chuck Filiaga (Murrietta, CA).

Filiaga holds offers from around the country and in talking to a source close to the Oklahoma program, TFB has been told he is an extremely high priority (and has been for some time) for the OU staff in this 2017 class. We’re hoping to have more with him following the visit.

Some big men visiting…I like it. BOOMER!
SOONER!!
SOONER! Gotta go to grandson’s baseball game now.
SOONER!!!
Why isn’t Isaac Ijalana number 80 on the soonersports.com roster? I hope we can keep Robert Barnes 6’3 DB/ATH so what other visitors this weekend? So do you expect any commits in the next week or two? Boomer Sooner
Don’t believe he’s w/ the program any longer.
Bummer
you know what they say…attrition is a bitch
Yeah
Hey Jordon. Any chance you guys could post a running list of offers in the OP the way you do weekend visitors? If sorted by position, great, otherwise just their primary position beside their name and school.
To be perfectly honestly, that kind of thing just gets way to cumbersome for a site like ours. Most of the services have sortable databases, I’d recommend one of those for this type of thing.
I’d recommend just staying here!
Or that.
Yeah…realize it might be 120+ entries by NSD. Would just be nice to not need to ‘go outside of the TFB family. Thanks anyway.
Mean I can dig and maybe make a list myself. I know we was looking at a 23-27 size class by my calculations and what we where told coming in. But we needed 1 QB, 2 to 3 RB’s, 3-4 WR/TE’s, 2-3 OL, 2-3 DT/DE, 2-3 LB’s and 4-5 DB’s 1 K/P/LS and 2-3 Ath that we can put anywhere. Got our QB and think we will only take one more DB, Still think we need 2 RB’s and 2 LB’s and 3 WR’s and then as many OL and DL guys you can take!
Last year Bob E., our resident tech guru and all around good guy, posted a list of offers I printed out and worked from. So maybe he already has one started. We just need to hit him on it. But… yeah..
http://247sports.com/Season/2017-Football/Recruits?Player.Enabled=False&Recruitment.Enabled=True&RecruitInterests.Institution.Key=24026&RecruitInterests.Offered=True
…. and just like that, Bob E. delivers ….
And here are the commits:
http://247sports.com/Season/2017-Football/Recruits?Player.Enabled=False&Recruitment.Enabled=True&RecruitInterests.Institution.Key=in_24026&RecruitInterestEvents.Type=4,5
Thanks, Bob. Commits..got..offers… yo no tengo.
Buenos tacos, amigo!!
I get that and very much appreciate it, but unfortunately that’s just not something we really have the resources to maintain.
Filiaga has an NFL size body as a higher schooler. When I look at Alabama, what keeps them at the top is they have a healthy mix of talent in waiting as well as the ability to pull in those OL and DL that can come in as true freshman and dominate.
Really hoping BB keeps up the good work, would like to hear more about Grayson Reed likewise
Question to any of the TFB writers and followers. Who are the top 3 kids on OU’s board in your mind and though early who do we need to get that’s not already committed and who is one dark horse or wild card kid that we may or may not have offered yet that you all think would really make an impact with this class, like Okudah or Wilson kids I am sure we have offered but, that many feel we are a long shot for. BTW it’s game day BOOOOMERRRR! It’s also 3:00 P.M. Tulsa Time and Texas still sucks!
Edited:
You bring up a really good point. Would love to see TFB post a running ‘offer list’, maybe in the OP section, like they do w/ weekend visitors. Add and delete as offers go out and commits are made. QB/RB/WR/OL/DL/LB/DB/Ath. I have no idea how many/who has offers. To your ?? … Gotta start w/ Marvin Wilson as DT is maybe the most important ‘need’. Browning is another. Otherwise, Draper is one of the top LBs in the country. Not saying they are ‘Ours’, but w/ Lamb, Wallace and Rison, WR is covered. Got OUr QB. Got DB covered but would be nice to add Okudah.
I’m curious to know what’s up with Okudah myself.
It seems a long time ago someone reported we where in real good with a recruit that we was considered to be a long shot for. I only hope that said recruit was Okudah!
That’s right, I remember that now. Could be Okudah…
Seems he is really ‘favoring tOsu…but also seems he is getting ‘pressure’ from SoonerSquad17 so maybe…just maybe…stays close. He’s already thrown the ‘whorns down’ w/ Barnes and Brown.
I think we need Hines as well adding Browning would be a plus cause that would make everyone really happy I think. Draper, Browning and Hines would be an amazing LB class. Wilson and Okudah would be huge gets. Lamb, Wallace and Rison would be a dream WR trio also. We do need one or two more RB’s I think and never have enough OL and DL guys.
Agree. Want both but if … would take Browning 1st. Feel fairly good about Hines from what I’m hearing about his connections to Draper and Tyrese Robinson. But feel like we are somewhat set if we get those 2. Agree. Next most important IMHO is RB.
I like how they have taken care of the secondary for the most part.. You have to think some of these kids are looking at these dbs and seeing it as an opportunity with them cover guys up and letting you make plays! I think that dt position is hard to recruit in the 3-4, you’re basucally telling a kid I need you to take up as many blocks as possible for others to make the plays.. I think Marvin wilson has to be priority numero uno, I’m in hopes he is a team guy and will understand how amazing it is to be a Sooner! But that’s getting him over LSU, Bama, and every other team in the country.. I personally don’t think texas would be a possibility with the numbers they took last year but who am I
Brien, not answering your question, but see you are in the Tulsa area. Are you in the OU Club of Tulsa?
I am not! What is this you speak of?
I’m a member of the OU club of Tulsa. It’s worth the money to join Brien. http://tulsa.ouclub.com
Byers plays the run REALLY well and already has an excellent swim move to boot.
Yea he looks good!
Like his film a lot. Listed as 6’4 275ish. Looks heavier and more compact. Like how he plays all over…inside..outside. If the height is correct, maybe DE/5t.
Nice work super K—–
……………
VERY nice work Super K
I love that girl!
Ok guys, gotta get outta here.great work today TFB, and TFBERS! I’ts 3.44
and texsa still sucks.Gotta pick up Cheryl ,peace my friends———————
Peace..out..Brother Metz. Same time…same channel..tomorrow.
Good stuff, thanks.
Tonight’s game is going to be like this.
https://youtu.be/86m3jgDMazE
With 205 tackles in 10 games…at least we know he is a solid tackler.
Good speed.
sideline to sideline! That play in the goal line though!!
Man if we could get hines, that would be coup of all coups. Between him, draper, and kelly, we would easily have the best LB group in the nation.
https://youtu.be/OKtuOSDukPc
Browning is absolutely made to play in Mikey’s D. He runs so well, can play the run, drops into coverage and will come up and lay you out.
He’s gotta be #1 on our board. He’s who we need to get us to the next level.
I’m still thinking wilson would be 1 but it might be 1a 1b
Oh yeah, definitely. I should have specified that I was referring to LB’s.
I would not be so sure he is number 1 mean C. Kelly is the same type player IMO maybe a a lil bit better but mean we need a lot of really athletic LB’s him, Kelly, Jackson, and Draper would make a nice group of LB’s
If we could just get him and Hines… Man that would be a really fast and athletic defense
He is just as big a stud as TFB said he was at The Opening! What a hard hitter! He needs to be a Sooner!!
Haha I just saw J’s tweet #FREE…..

It does take confidence to play corner, at least he’s got some of that.
A whopping 160 pounds. And half of that is his nads. I like that kid.
Chuck Filiaga is from the same HS that Curtis Bolton went to. Interestingly the head coach at Vista Murrieta that past 10 years or so, has retired, so VMHS will be under new leadership. No scandal or anything, just retired…FWIW.
I’ve always been terrible at guessing who will/won’t be drafted high (or at all) for oklahoma, so who do you guys think on the current roster has a chance to one day get drafted in the first round.
On the current roster? I’d say Brown for sure if he continues improving.

Big boy there but the interest is hard for me to read to be honest.
Came out on his own dime. Gotta be encouraging.
I’m always trying to wear sunshine on my sleeve. 🙂
Good for you.
Did you catch that awesome BB game?
I caught the final 11 minutes or so. My boy had a baseball game in Vinita. Of course 96.1 had the ‘Nova game. Had to keep up with a stat cast.
It’s looking like I will miss Saturday’s game because my wife’s son has a tournament this weekend.
Have they set a tip-off time?
Don’t think it will be official until games are done, which could be by now, but I’ve seen 5:00 and 7:30. Assuming we will be the late game on West coast.
They’re over. Oregon looked good. Gonna be a good game Saturday.
Yeah, I turned the channel when they went up double, was hoping for Duke but either will be a challenge.
Duke just didn’t have enough horses this year. They’ll be back, though.
We need to play like we did tonight with a little more Buddy on fire and we move on.
My man Christian James played well tonight. Jordan was on fire.
Yes. I should have used comma’s in my post after reading it again because we will need ” more” Buddy, but you probably knew what I was saying. Lol.
I’m too tired to play that game lol. Can’t wait til Saturday.
The team was very balanced tonight for a change which was great to see. Hope we are peaking at a good time.
When James is playing quality minutes it really allows the starters to get some much needed rest. I like it.

On my list to watch first thing in the morning, my eyes are heavy. 🙂 Love this boy though.
