– Deangelo Gibbs: The 2017 athlete was in Norman in this past weekend, one of several times Gibbs has visited OU in recent months due, in large part, to Gibbs having family in the Dallas area. Additionally, Gibbs has a cousin, JR Reed, who plays for Tulsa.
With regards to this most recent visit, however, Gibbs told TFB things went quite well. In speaking with a source on the OU side of things, it sounds as though the staff feels pretty good about where they stand with Gibbs. The aforementioned proximity of family is one of the primary factors working in the favor.
It’s still too early to get a solid read on Gibbs, who does plan to use his official visits — and already having been to Norman multiple times, there is at least a chance the Sooners don’t receive one — but as of where things stand today there appears to be legitimate interest from both sides. – (Brandon)
– Anthony Hines: Continuing with the theme of repeat visitors, standout 2017 LB Anthony Hines was back in Norman as well earlier this week. Hines is very close with several other 2017 OU commits; Robert Barnes, Levi Draper & Charleston Rambo, all of whom have not been shy about selling Hines on the Sooners.
TFB has learned that Hines is expected to be in Columbus over the weekend to visit Ohio State, although we’ve also been led to believe distance could be an issue at the end of the day. So despite the obvious appeal of what the Buckeyes offer, being that far from home may eventually eliminate them.
Many believe Oklahoma may lead for Hines at the moment, but there are still no plans in terms of a commitment date. That said, one member of OU’s current 2017 class described Hines’ interest in the Sooners rather bluntly. “He (Hines) comes to OU any chance he gets. He doesn’t do that with other schools,” this person said.
And while Hines has told TFB in the past that he would like to graduate early and enroll next spring, those plans are also not definitive at this time. However, we can pass along that Hines is planning to use one of his official visits for the OU/Ohio State game. – (Brandon)

Okudah wants to play corner at the next level , so I think OU would let him choose between both the positions. Brown and Broiles at CB , Bandy at Nickel , Barnes and Gibbs at Safety.
yeah I’ve read that about Okudah wanting to play corner but everything I’ve read from TFB says they’re wanting him for Safety. Hopefully one of them will see this discussion and clear that up for us 🙂 I hope OU just recruits him and tells him he can play gunner on special teams if that’s his dream position. Kid is a stud.

So how many linebackers are can we take in this class? Obviously Draper isn’t going anywhere ILB and We are probably the favorite for Hines ILB, so does that leave Jacob Phillips ILB from Tennessee on the outside looking in? From his interview at the five star challenge it also sounded like we were the favorite there.

I believe we’re a close second, but it’s still second nonetheless. Just another reason why that tOSU game needs as many high profile kids present as we can. Gotta have that W and have our SS17 in the ears of the other high profile guys. Is there a limit on the amount of kids you can have on an OV at a particular time? Would love for there to be 30 kids at that game, if it’s possible.

I still laugh out loud every time I hear that. I used to read LT quite a bit, now not hardly ever, but during the early part of Kish’s OU career, MS tried a sort of 4-7, the WVU game proved that was not a wise experiment. Letting Kish recruit and coach LB’s made some of the LT faithful look quite idiotic. Still makes me laugh!
It was pretty widely screamed on here too. It really didn’t stop until last season.

I was never against Kish the way some were, but I was definitely doubting the Mike hire. I thought for sure his time had passed. Glad to see both are doing well and recruiting extremely well. I think once we found our identity on defense it then allowed Mike and Kish to get the type of players to fit our scheme.

Ehhhh. My doubts about Mike were earlier than last season. I was hyped about two seasons ago coming off that sugar bowl victory, but I knew we had to replace our entire secondary in a pass happy league. I predicted 10-2 regular season for us last year bc we had so many close games we lost the year before and we no longer had turnover machine TK leading the way lol.
IMHO that’s a fair assessment. Seems many of the top recruiters have a way of making an instant connection and sometimes you don’t get a lot of time. Seems Kish is more laid back and it takes a while to make the connection but his ‘genuineness’ comes through along w/ being a good teacher.
I’m not to sure how much his recruiting produces results; seems many of the big fish OU landed got reeled in by a team of other coaches. However, Kish does seem to have an eye for identifying talent and coaching players up. Evans and Alexander are good examples of his coaching ability. Neither one ever played the position and even though they were not all-conference types they have been rather rather consistent part of the defense.
He had a complete stud in Corey Nelson who couldn’t even play in games. Think anybody can recruit to a school when NFL LBs can’t even play a down. I have blamed that on MS and NEVER on Kish. That was a terrible decision it appeared to me and since they started playing LBs, I’d say he’s turned things around quite well in recruiting. They try to give “credit” to other coaches for recruitings studs, but a stud is not going to a school when he can pick any school and he doesn’t trust that position coach. I’d say that MS wouldn’t have brought him with him if he hadn’t been good in all areas.

Soonersd, Wilson, Brown, Cheryl, Brien,Cav, Shelby, L’Carpetron, left “The Grove” while delusional fans in Oxford shouted “hotty toddy” to other delusional fans; they took the Lane, while driving Higg’s rig, that led to Waco; they hopped on a ferry and watched a dumpster fire as they travelled up the Brazos River. There, they saw Sooner fans abound, such as JimInTexas, who placed a couple of Chubbs (a device that sets the bolt immovably if the lock is picked) to bind Briles’ wrists but did not stop Briles from sending ill advised tweets about what Baylor had accomplished under his watch, while his players pillaged and plundered the very village that took them in, acting as if they were the Oakland Raida(s). Both universities, Ole Mi$$ and Baylor, have Rainydaze ahead.

It was truly amazing that they got away Scott free; Mesmerizing, it was; the ultimate illusion you would only see in under the Electric lights of Vegas, or Colorado, or London, or StL, or EasTex. If you don’t like tricks, go to a coffee shop, in the 403 area code, and have a Framoka with CDZ, KJ, Jed or Daryl or all them. Keep your phone charged because they’ll be Collin you soon.
While Baylor and Ole Miss are mucking up, Jake, J.r., and Zack were playing Golf in DC, they missed many fairways and often found their golf balls in the Woods, south by SW (southwest). Jason had a combined 47 strokes on holes 7, 11 and 12. It appears his belief is that you should Garner as many strokes as you can in 18 holes. I’m willing to bet you that the other golfers decided they didn’t need to watch him like a Hawk. They all Drew the conclusion he sucked.
TRob keeps bringing the good news about a kid name Creed, which enable all of us to “simma dine, ni!” David, Matt, Rick and Dave are glad the off-season is coming to a close. They are ready for the season to start and end with 14 wins and a crown fit for Malicongs. Alar, if it sounds like the name of a genie, it’s because it is, lives in the vivid (sometimes twisted) imagination of Robertson: ask the HWMNBN and the Mike Gundy. The summer workouts have started, which means the season will start soon. Here’s hoping the friendlies come back and the knuckle heads stay away. This is going to be a good year and I don’t believe there’s a way OU blow this opportunity and Metz this up.

Hey TFB peeps! Just finished up a week in Haiti with no a/c. Awesome trip. What did I miss?

Meet Jean Pierre, high Vodou (Voodoo) Priest of Williamson, Haiti. My wife and I have become friends with him over our past few visits there. In this picture, he’s invited me to pray for his sister who he can’t cure. He’s leading me there, which is a huge deal for his people to see happen. After his sister experienced relief, he led us to many other homes to do the same. I wish I could detail it all, but mods may not want a book about that topic posted here.

So it being that time of year, thought you guys might like the updated Fulmer cup. Not surprising the SEC is in the lead with four teams in the Top 10. Colorado leads the team competition and has the highest rated individual (or is that the highest individual). The B-12 is in seventh place among conferences with most of our points come from a surprisingly strong KU performance.

The Fulmer Cup was conceived of in 2006 by Spencer Hall, head editor of the SB Nation blog Every Day Should Be Saturday (EDSBS). Named after then-Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer, the Cup is awarded to the team whose players, during the off-season, collectively accumulate the most points. Points are awarded for “negative law enforcement contacts” (i.e. arrests and citations) and are scaled to the severity of the offense.
The season begins the moment the national championship game ends, and runs until 24 hours before the first kickoff of the first Division I game of the new season. The team with the most cumulative points at the end of the season is the winner!

I found a Rocky Patel Super Ligero that I really like. For everyday smokes I’ve got a couple of Diesel’s that I first tried from a sampler pack that I have developed a fondness for. Nothing really on the high end, trying to find that balance between good quality and not spending my retirement on cigars.

If you like the sort of thing, you should look at the Trans Siberian Railroad. Runs from Moscow in the west to Vladivostok in the east where you can catch a boat to Japan if you want. I’ve only ridden the stretch from Khabarovsk to Blagoveshchensk back when we were adopting our kids, but it was interesting experience lots of beautiful country.

Back a very long time ago, OU used to post a player on the line just outside the offensive tackle. This player was large enough to block effectively and had an ability to catch balls. Of course, the tradeoff was these Tight Ends often lacked true receiver speed and moves.

I never thought this team was going to win the whole thing with all of the youth, and we don’t have the dominant deep pitching staffs we had with Stewart/Moran or even Ricketts/Gascoigne. But they proved were good enough to get it done. Parker may not be as dominant as Stewart or Ricketts, but she’s as mentally tough as any of them.
With the youth of this team, it makes me think there’s another national championship or two in store!! I would like to see a backup pitcher develop who can give Parker some rest.
Jayden is going to be really good also. She held auburn in check longer than most pitchers during the entire season. Plus from what I have read we are going to have one of the best pitchers in he nation coming in this fall. I definitely see a bright future!
