– Matthew Gutwald: This past Friday we talked about where OU might turn with regards to a future offensive line offer after having missed out on Parker Boudreaux last week. So we wanted to remind you about a player we’ve mentioned here on TFB before in 2016 OL Matthew Gutwald (6’4″ 270 – Dublin, CA), who currently holds offers from schools like Oregon, Oregon St & Washington. You may even recall us previously mentioning Gutwald having lived in Oklahoma for around and attending Heritage Hall at the time. In fact, he still has a 405 phone number.

Don’t be surprised if Gutwald is one of OU’s next 2016 offensive line offers. I caught up with Gutwald over the weekend who told me, “Coach Bedenbaugh said I’m his top high school offensive lineman now.” Not sure just yet when an offer might come, but Gutwald said coach Bedenbaugh is going to review his film further and is hoping to hear back sometime after the dead period is over (July 12th). – (Super K)

– Donell Dunn: A wide receiver prospect to keep your eyes on is blazing fast 2016 prospect Donell Dunn out of Cypress, TX. Dunn ran a 4.51 SPARQ verified 40, and I’m told he also ran a sub 4.4 40 at a recent TCU camp. He currently holds offers from Arkansas, Texas Tech and several others.

OU’s Dennis Simmons dropped by to see Dunn this past spring, and the 2016 prospect tells TFB he and Simmons have been communicating quite a bit in recent weeks. In fact just before the dead period, Dunn said he and Simmons spoke for nearly an hour over the phone. Evidently Simmons is pushing for Dunn to try and make a trip up to Norman at some point this summer. And while plans for that visit have yet to be made, Dunn is working on a trip to Arkansas and says he could make it over to OU at that same time.

We had been told OU is looking to continue to upgrade their speed across the board and especially at the wide receiver position. Dunn would bring plenty of speed and at nearly 6’0″ and already 193 lbs, he’s a well put together wideout. I had a chance to see some camp video of Dunn, who is a very difficult match-up due to his ability to separate at the end of a route. I’ll likely get a chance to see him in person later this month at one of the camps here in Texas. – (Super K)

– Team News | Dahu Green: Was talking to a source over the weekend and inquired as to how true freshman wide receiver Dahu Green has looked thus far. My source said that Green is “an absolute freak athletically.” We already knew he had the size, but according to what I’ve been told Green has already made noticeable strides in improving his overall game.

As I continue to get progress reports from summer workouts, more and more I’m starting to think we could see both Green and A.D. Miller on the field this year. And I just get the general sense there is more hunger in these young guys. Coming off that disappointing 2014 season and with several new coaches on staff, you get the sense these young guys know if they are able to impress there is a legit chance for early playing time.

And while I still believe last year’s class had some nice talent, I’m starting to think this 2015 class will exceed it by a significant margin. Obviously far too early to make any type of definitive calls on that, but it’s just my early feeling on things as of right now. – (Super K)

Good to hear of Dahu’s progress. The energy in the program as a whole seems much more driven and positive. Boomer!

  • Mike Reed says:

I still wonder if Rowdy Frederick will get an offer now that Boudreaux is off the board?

    • Jordan Esco says:

The impression I have is that for whatever reasons, OU just seems to be hesitant in terms of offering him. Which now having said that, he’ll probably get an offer later today.

I know there have been some others that have thrown around possible work ethic issues, but I was speaking w/ K about that very thing this past weekend and he quickly shot it down.

So I suppose at this point it is anyone’s guess as to why he still doesn’t have an OU offer.

      • Coach_AElliott says:

I’ve heard that Rowdy didn’t even play every down last year for BA and was mostly used situationally. Is there any truth to this? Has anyone on here watched a full BA game or just his highlights?

        • Jordan Esco says:

Yeah, I couldn’t really speak to that. I do believe he’s had some injury issues in the past if memory serves, so that may (or may not) have played a role in what you’re talking about. But again, I couldn’t say for sure.

  • Brandon says:

I would love to see some big athletic receivers make a difference this year it has been a while since we had wr that was 6’2″ or above be a difference maker. on another note love to hear the word hunger when describing some OU players lets hope it is contagious

  • Cole says:

The receivers are getting a lot of praise this offseason. Makes one think that more than that one guy named Sterling something gets his named called during a game and actually contribute.

  • Soonerfandave84 says:

“My source said that Green is “an absolute freak athletically.” We already knew he had the size, but according to what I’ve been told Green has already made noticeable strides in improving his overall game.”

This sums up JH and JN recruiting and why they aren’t in Norman anymore. Neither wanted him and he appears to be on the verge of becoming a contributor as a true freshman

    • Indy_sooner says:

Not just that, but a good chunk of the 4 and 5 stars brought in dropped out like flies and left us scrambling. Novell’s departure makes more and more sense every day. Character issues at the worst. Jackson, Jarboe, Metoyer etc.

  • McKinzie says:

Call me Debbie Downer but I won’t get too excited about WR potential until we have a QB who can prove he consistently can deliver a catchable football.

  • Jason Vos says:

Hey K, who do you think our next commitment will be?

Plus do we have any chance of flipping Overshown from TCU?

  • Zack says:

I like both receiver classes I just think the potential of mead, Andrews and quick is a little bit higher. Obviously westbrook will come in and be a player day one. I would take it that the receiver with the drops last week was Humphrey I hope he learns a lot from shep and westbrook because he can be good and his speed will get him on the field.

    • Jason Vos says:

From what I have heard/seen, Mead is really good

    • McKinzie says:

But who do we have who can consistently deliver them the football? There were many, many times last season when T Knight looked like a junior high QB with his footwork and accuracy. Thomas may be the man, I don’t know. I don’t trust Mayfield.

      • Jason Vos says:

At least we know Mayfield is pretty accurate, and can hit his receivers. I am worried about this shoulder thing though

      • Zack says:

I think knight can be better with a new direction. Reports have stated that he and mayfield are basically even but mayfield is getting the hype and is a different kind of leader. And like you said you don’t trust mayfield. Just get a QB to complete 65% of his passes and I don’t care if he was a walk on, transfer or a 4 star.

        • McKinzie says:

Agreed. I don’t worry about how high a recruit was rated. I just want someone who will be consistent…and not consistently bad.

        • Soonerfandave84 says:

If TK9 can throw deep passes he’ll be just fine, it’s the under 15 yard passes he struggles with(the new offense is most likely short pass heavy)

          • hemisooner says:

you could have said the same thing with a certain TCU QB before last year. A good OC can make a big difference.

          • McKinzie says:

You saying our defense will be on par with TCU’s from 2014?

          • hemisooner says:

            who said anything about Defense

          • McKinzie says:

No one. Just making a statement as to why I think TCU was so good last year…not necessarily just QB play. It was a fair point by you, though.

          • hemisooner says:

While TCU was good on D it was their offense that really made the difference last year.

          • Brandon says:

didn’t they give up 61 points to Baylor and we scored in the 30’s on them with what someone called earlier a junior high quarterback. If we had their defense there would be people complaining about some of the same stuff

          • Soonerfandave84 says:

            OU scored 14 on Baylor(48-14)

          • Brandon says:

we were talking about how good tcu’s defense was not baylors we scored 33 against tcu who people were calling a good defense that is what I was talking about

          • boomersooner says:

If we had the ’85 bears d with the ’27 yankee o and won every game by 100 there would still be complainers

          • Soonerfandave84 says:

I agree it could change and hope that it does, but I want to see it

          • hemisooner says:

this a very QB friendly offense. very simple reads.

          • Soonerfandave84 says:

That is my hope, but simple reads don’t always make a QB throw more accurately

          • hemisooner says:

no it doesn’t but it does make him have less to think about.

  • Katyboomer says:

Everybody keeps thinking we will be back to leach ball this year. The more I think about it and with the staff we have (Bedenbaug), I think we will be more Holgersen stye ( run a little more and a few more deep balls with some dink and dunk). Thoughts anyone?

    • ToatsMcGoats says:

There’s no way I see Riley ignoring these RB’s. I think people will be pleasantly surprised by the offense he puts on the field. I could very seriously see the type of offense Kevin Wilson put on the field. We don’t have a Bradford, but we can make due with what we have and still do very well.

      • Katyboomer says:

I like that analogy even better. I keep forgetting Wilson offense. All though like any offense we have had, there are always those plays that make you says hmm even with Wilson. I hope Riley is as good or better then Wilson, man that would be awesome!!!

        • ToatsMcGoats says:

I agree…the “run into the OL’s backside” plays were horrific to watch. However, I can’t imagine how ecstatic I would be if we had 2 1,000 yard rushers again!

          • Katyboomer says:

I think we will if Mixon gets enough running plays. I wonder how Perine will do with the shuffle pass? That will be really fun to watch.

          • Mr. Jones says:

21,000 yards seems a bit high but I like the high expectations! 😉

        • Brandon says:

I think we need to remember that every offense has those plays that you question. I’ve never seen an offensive coordinator that calls the right play on every play that is run.

        • SamSooner says:

I believe Riley will make you pay if he sees something you’re not defending, even if it’s not part of the game plan.

    • SoonerfanTU says:

Agreed. No chance we throw it like we did under Leach, and ignore the studs we have at running back. No reason we can’t do both well, and I think Riley will find a way to make that happen.

  • ToatsMcGoats says:

I’ve watched every ECU game from last season and I have to say…if Lincoln Riley can make Shane Carden a QB that can compete at a very high level, I have the utmost confidence that he can work with what we have at the QB position. Not to mention the fact that the RB talent on this team is not even in the same galaxy as the ECU backfield from last season. Outside of Hardy and Cam Worthy, ECU didn’t have many options, yet they still put up huge numbers. I’m not worried one bit about this offense. Even with the returning WR’s alone we still outclass ECU by a country mile. Defense? Well, then…that’s a completely different story…

    • SamSooner says:

I haven’t heard the phrase “country mile” since I left the country. Thanks for the nostalgia, Toats.

  • SamSooner says:

Here is one reason I’m so optimistic about this season: Riley’s offense. Even if the defense is not up to snuff, the offense will keep us in the game. There was so much pressure on the defense to play at a high level last year.

I’m okay with winning a few games that might require OU to score 50+ points. They’ve got the horses to do that. The real bonus will be if the defense comes along later in the season, like I believe they will, OU will be a team to keep an eye on.

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

Im optimistic too, just cautiously optimistic. I think Riley will exploit things JH couldn’t and will likely result in better QB play, I just have to see it first. I’m really excited to see Westbrook and Mixon, guys could be difference makers that open things up for everyone else including Sterling and Samaje

    • JB says:

I disagree. With OU running the ball more, and using time of possession to our advantage, there was LESS pressure on the defense. We’re about to go from about 70 plays per game to 110 plays per game. That is going to put thevD out on the field a lot more and put MORE pressure on the D…A LOT MORE pressure with more opportunities to get burned.

Riley keeps saying that his O will adjust to his personnel so I hope with Perine & Mixon will carry the ball a lot. I think we were on the right track offensively going to a more balanced approach and using time of possession to keep the D off the field, we just used the wrong QB. Bell should have been under center last year.

      • Zack says:

But what happened the last time OU ran an offense that ran 100 plays per game? They were good and even though the defense could be exposed it allowed the defense to go against a one deminsional offense, one that had to play from behind. If this offense is 7 points better than last year’s then were talking about an 11-2 team again and at 11-1 (prior to the bowl) maybe we play somebody different and go 12-1. So there’s reason to be optimistic.

        • SamSooner says:

          You make some good points.

        • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

Since and including 2003, OU has never had an offense that averaged 100 plays/game.

          • Zack says:

Well then that should help those worried about running 110 plays a game. It will be close to 80 I assume. And I bet the run/pass will be close to 48/52. And probably somewhere around 5-10 % of the passes will be screens, swings and other behind the LOS pass plays.

          • KJ1123 says:

I think they’ll hit 100 once or twice. Depends on the opp. TCU, Baylor may be high volume (passes), Kansas not so much again (run), Akron definitely not, it”ll be a smaller offensive package probably mostly run, and so on. Plus if everything is clicking and we’re winning, BS may decided to keep his foot on the gas just to remind everyone its OU.

          • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

Agreed. Even at ECU, Lincoln only hit 100 plays in a game once or twice.

      • Boom says:

I think you will agree that we have more depth on defense in our front 7 than years past. They are inexperienced but talented so coming in to play 15 – 25 plays a game will definitely help the team in the 4th Q. Secondary has talent, we just need our safeties to play solid.

      • SamSooner says:

JB, I agree with where you’re going. But the defense will not be on the field anymore than they would be if there were a ton of three-and-outs. Plus, we will have points on the board.

        • SoonerOracle737 says:

The three-and-outs on O really hurt us on D last year. Just a killer.

        • JD says:

The D should cause their own 3 and outs…as long as the Offense (and STs) doesn’t give up bad field position I see no prob running an offense that should be similar to our 08 09 offenses…D back then was pretty stout

      • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

At ECU, Lincoln never averaged 110 plays per game. I think you made up that number from nowhere.

        • boomersooner says:

People who hate something don’t dabble in facts. I believe I read somewhere that they are allergic to them

        • JB says:

I said 110 because 110 plays was Kevin Wilson’s stated goal per game when we went to the hurry-up no huddle. I wasnt aware the “literal” police were monitoring this board. I’m not bored enough to look up ECU stats, but Riley has said since he has been at OU–spring game to be specific–that OU will be increasing tempo on offense and that we haven’t seen that as of the spring game.

What his specific number of plays per game will be, I don’t know but it will be considerably higher than the last 2 years. If the goal is to increase tempo that translates to more plays per game and hopefully more scoring opportunities. Unfortunately, when you score fast you give the ball back more quickly. That’s less time for the D to rest. If you go 3 and out running high tempo, that means the D is back on the field more quickly. Either way, the D has to participate for more plays and will have more pressure on them than if you use Perine to grind out game clock, have the QB use up the play clock (like Bell did in Stoolwater with that 8+ minute drive), etc.

That was one of the great features of the wishbone…defense wasn’t exposed as much.

          • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

What does Kevin Wilson have to do with this team? (checks magic 8 ball) Uh, nothing. Wilson’s teams never averaged even 90 plays per game.

Because you like to make statements without looking up any information I’ll just give it to you.

            Last two years for OU:
~73 plays per game. Nearly identical to Texas A&M and Auburn.

In fact, since and including 2003, OU has averaged 80 or more plays/game only twice. Historically, with Kevin Wilson and Josh Heupel, OU averages in the mid-70s per game, sometimes in the high 70s.

            Last two years for ECU:
~83 plays per game. That’s up there with Arizona and Baylor. The preceding years for Lincoln were below 80 plays/game.

Even though you claim to have zero information to guide your WAG, and claim to not know what the number of plays will be, over 80 plays/game must be what you meant by “considerably higher.” Yes, that’s considerably higher, not 110 plays per game higher, but higher.

It seems that you have an issue with our defense and having them on the field “too much.” Thus, you invented an argument to satisfy your lack luster perception of the defense.

      • Sooner Redzone says:

Heard after TCU gameplan in 2013 Bell suffered mightily. All the teams adopted it and that was keeping him bunched in the pocket and collapsing it. His numbers nosedived. As hard to believe as it is he was worse.

        • JB says:

Since the schedule got tougher as the year went on (#10 TTU, #6 OSU & #5 BU) you’d expect difficulty, and he missed the equivalent of nearly 3 games after getting hurt early on vs ISU. I know this much…TK was awful vs oSu and BB came of the bench in the 4th and saved the day with great play.

          • Sooner Redzone says:

Blake Bell is no more Johnny Unitas for one series against OSU than Trevor is for the greatest game by a QB ever by OU against a tough opponent, Alabama. I am sure not saying there would have been some huge difference of Trevor over Blake as the QB but you are just wrong.

    • Mizuno44 says:

Great call out, I agree completely. A potent offense will ease the pressure on the defense and allow time for development.

    • Jeff says:

OU better have alot better QB play this season and not forget about running the ball to be successful this season

      • Sooner Redzone says:

I think that Perine, Mixon, and Ross need touches. I think if you look at Ricky Williams ( Tech one) he had about 90 receptions in around 2001. I also think one of the main things Trevor łacked was a tall receiver. I hope he gets some action. Big fast receivers are a huge matchup problem. The other thing if he feels Trevor is the guy and it appears despite what the radio guys are saying is still much a factor then utilize his talents.

  • Boom says:

Redshirt Freshman. I’m looking forward to who will be contributors next year. Depth is finally starting to pick up. OT, hope one of them becomes a cornerstone and Orso in the rotation will be a big help. LB’s, best depth in years.
Joe Mixon – (not sure if he is a freshman/Soph)
Dallis Todd, Carson Meier, Mark Andrews
Alex Dalton, Kenyon Frisom, Orlando Brown Jr, Joesph Paul
    Dwayne Orso, Courtney Garnett
    Curtis Bolton, Tay Evans

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

I want to see big Orlando Brown play

      • Clint Lenard says:

He and Frison won’t be held back too long..

        • Coach K says:

Hope not. Tackles really worry me right now.

          • Exiled In Ohio says:

Agree! I’m optimistic about QB, WRs, and DBs; hopefully that will be fixed or at least much better this year. I think the OL will determine whether it’s a 9-4 season or whether we’re competitive for a playoff slot.

          • Coach K says:

I don’t think there is any way Ou is competing for a playoff spot this year. QB play has to be a lot better not to mention finding someone to fill the hole left by the DL departures.

          • soonerthunder says:

I think the system and a better/deeper WR core and experience and depth (at QB) will make the QB position better. Several WR starters last yr may be better this yr but will be backups this yr. That’s an upgrade. On the DL departures, it’s mainly one: Phillips. He took plays off and admits it himself. I think we’ll be better there simply b/c we’re playing guys who will not take plays off. Also, Tapper didn’t have as good as yr as ’13 and his health issues are fixable. I see the DL being better.

          • Coach K says:

Phillips is the only Guy Ou had for the middle of a 3 man line. Sorry it is the truth whether he took plays off or not.

            WRS could be better.

Will have to see if it is an upgrade. I think people are getting a little too excited for the frosh WRs but Westbrook will be good.

Phillips is a HuGe loss taking plays off or not. He demanded a double team no one else does.

          • JD says:

Winning the b12 is competing for a playoff spot…I think we have a shot depending on how things come together at certain positions…I think were gonna be a lot better than last year and we were so close to only having a Baylor loss…One loss OU would have made the playoffs last year

          • Coach K says:

I think you are being a little generous.

You can say close to 1 loss but they had 5.

I don’t think they compete for championship late in the season.

Big 12 won’t have a playoff team unless TCU goes undefeated.

          • JD says:

Yet still we were CLOSE to only having a baylor loss…We very well could have won the TCU game…could have won the KState game…and of course bedlam…and yes had we only one loss OU would have got in to the playoffs over TOSU (at the worst in the discussion and that is competing for the playoffs right there)…and this year I expect us to be ALOT better than last year…so I FULLY expect us to COMPETE for a playoff spot…and If Stoops doesn’t then he doesn’t need to be a coach anymore

          • Coach K says:

I don’t think Ou would have gotten in last year with 1 loss.

          • Boom says:

That is why i said “hope” they come along. Even if one of them start, it will take several games or after mid-season to gain any momentum. Maybe the quick hit offense will help the OT’s.

          • Coach K says:

Hope so. Just talking to some who would know the Ot will struggle this year.

  • BleedCrimson says:

With 61 DTG, here is a clip in remembrance of a 61-41 beat down of Oklahoma’s Second University

    https://youtu.be/ZilsZVKzuIs

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Watching this brings back memories of 60 points five freakin games in a row!

Zac Robinson reminds of T Knight. In particular, his running ability and inconsistent passing.

    • LifeLongSoonerFan says:

Man there were some good offensive players in that game! Bradford, Murray, Gresham and Broyles for OU. Bryant for OSU. . .

      • Slim Sooner says:

Yeah, plus Iglesias, Brody Eldridge, and Brown. I sure do miss those guys. Sigh. But I’m looking forward to this year. Gotta be better than last year, at least I hope.

      • BleedCrimson says:

I was thinking along those same lines watching the replay. Lots of talent in that game. Wondering if we have the same type of talent going on the field this year.

    • Sooner 76 says:

      They’re a university? Who knew!

  • Randy says:

Love hearing the team news. We hear some on the prospects during the dead period, Super K is there any news on the coaches durin this off time. Offense coaches at 7 on 7’s or how Cooks is doing with his new secondary ?

  • Stephen says:

    Dahuuuuuuuuuuu!

    • Mike Reed says:

Trevor Knight instead of Baker Mayfield. Is that an indication of things to come? Hmmm……

      • Exiled In Ohio says:

Wouldn’t make sense to take a guy who hasn’t played a down for OU.

        • Jordan Esco says:

Not sure I agree entirely. He’s coming from another Big 12 team, so he has plenty of familiarity w/ the league.

I would agree w/ a lot of what I’ve seen since this was released, that bringing Knight is somewhat of an odd choice given that the QB1 spot is presumably still unsettled.

          • FMsooner1 says:

Perhaps the shoulder issue made Trevor the obvious choice? Perhaps the 7 on 7 drills have determined a winner? Maybe he is just the upper classman from the QB position.

          • Jordan Esco says:

Could be any of those and/or any number of other reasons.

I think it just strikes many as an odd choice, b/c obviously the majority of questions Knight will be asked will be regarding the QB1 battle.

So I think most would have expected Bob not to take a QB at all and avoid he/them having to deal w/ the issue (for the most part), or at least like they’ll have to now w/ Knight going.

Just seems like the opposite of what Bob has normally done in the past. But at the same time, Knight has clearly proved himself to be a well-spoken representative for both the program and university. So from that standpoint it obviously makes a lot of sense him going.

          • DFWSooner says:

Didn’t Blake Bell go last year?

          • Sooner Ray says:

I think Knight is a good choice, it’s his job until he loses it. He does represent well and he can handle the tough questions. He will be coached to match his answers with the staff and it will keep other teams guessing just as we are.

    • OceanDescender says:

TK is still an unquestioned leader of the team. It’ll be interesting to watch that dynamic if another QB earns the job for the opener.

      • ratman says:

Good leader of 8-5. Guess Bob and team enjoy “pick 6’s”??

        • OceanDescender says:

I never said he performed amazingly last season. Didn’t even say he’s going to win the job this season haha.

        • Zack says:

But it’s not like mayfield and Thomas aren’t turn over happy either.

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

I’ll give Knight his due, gotta have some big cahones to go B12 media days.

      • Finney56 says:

You also have to give it to TK9. He is a great speaker and a great advocate for OU

      • ratman says:

One thing is for sure, he will be the worst qb there!

        • Boom says:

Curious, did you play QB. If not, have you been around QB schools or coaches? You seem to know a lot about QBs so please pass along.

      • JB says:

True. It’s not surprising though they’d ask him to do it. I don’t think much of his quarterbacking skills but I think he is an excellent human being and an excellent representative for OU.

  • Jason Vos says:

Hmm Trevor Knight must have balls of steel to be going to media day. The guy will get peppered with questions.

Also why would Trevor Knight be at Media day if he isn’t going to be the starter?

    • Katyboomer says:

Good points.Things that make you say hmm. Unlike some, I am not ready to write off TK just yet.

      • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Is it because he started the last game? Is it due to the Mayfield injury? Are all the QBS going? Inquiring minds what to know?

    • JD says:

He prob posts on these sites to get prepared for all of the Debbies

    • John Garner says:

Unless I missed a report, a starter hasn’t been announced. So, I imagine that TK is still considered the #1 guy until LR says different.

      • Slim Sooner says:

That and like someone said, he’s pretty good with the media and represents well. Don’t think it’s necessarily a clue to starting QB, but who knows right now. I’m kind of spooked about Mayfield’s deal. “Fatigue” could be anything. I’m old and have some aches and pains that I plan to call fatigue!

  • Matt says:

Rewatching the 2012 Baylor game this morning (I was working in Wyoming that year so I had only seen highlights before now). It amazes me the number of man coverage players we had on that team. I realize the run defense was shredded but the fact that they could line up and just play man coverage across the field against a group of receivers like BU with no pass rush? That’s insane considering what we watched last year.

  • Zack says:

I say knight starting game 1 is looking like a 67% chance. What do you guys think?

I think it was close to 50/50 but this tells me knight is no worse than second on the DC. And I think there may be something to the mayfield injury. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if we hear about surgery of some sort prior to or right after fall camp starting.

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

I’m still holding out hope coach finally puts me in…

    • Stephen says:

I’m starting to lean toward this as well, but I don’t know how I feel about it.

      • Zack says:

I’m surprised we aren’t hearing much of Thomas. I really thought the transition would help him most as he’s the one who looks the closest to a qb.

        • rphokc says:

ditto, esp since he didn’t do bb……..seems like this is his chance to go get it if he’s got it

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

If he needs rotator cuff surgery, it should be done within 2-3 weeks of the injury. It is close to a third week isn’t it? So, if in a week there is no announcement, he either does not need surgery, it is not a tear, it is a tear, but they want to try and heal him through not surgical procedures.

      How Well It Works

Rotator cuff repair surgery for a tear from a sudden injury works best if it is done within a few weeks of the injury.

    • Tim A says:

I like him in Alabama game only. Am afraid it will be a long season unfortunately with him – just doesn’t make good decision and accuracy is very inconsistent. Plus, if he runs (which he is tremendous doing) he will get hurt…..then we’re down to one (if Mayfield is truly hurt).

      • Zack says:

I get why people are down on tk9 and I’m not saying anyone shouldn’t. But I do hope he redeems himself. He seems like a good kid.

        • Tim A says:

I hope he redeems himself also – and agree he sure seems like a good kid and leader. I just wish he was more accurate passer and that he learns to not stare down receivers.

    • ratman says:

      Hope not!

    • JB says:

I’d go with a 67% chance of him not starting

  • Jordan Esco says:

Does this kind of s#$% creep anybody else out? I mean how/why is this newsworthy? Don’t get me wrong, good for TK as she does not appear to be unattractive in the slightest. But how is this relevant to anything?
    https://twitter.com/OUDailySports/status/618160427864735744

    • Zack says:

Not creepy but what’s wrong with OU’s female population that our 2 QBs are dating girls that like orange.

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

Did he slip her OUs playbook in December?

      • D Hunter Sanchez says:

The way he played wasn’t all JH fault, Katie’s curse and then apparently meeting the Clemson cheerleader got his mind off the game.

        • Zack says:

maybe he played bad that game cause he couldn’t wait to call her. Even though he waited like 6 months to tweet her

          • ratman says:

He played bad that game because he was dominated by Clemson D.
I don’t care who he dates I just wish he was an above average as a QB.

          • Zack says:

The Katy perry deal was before tcu

    • Cush Creekmont says:

I would go with “WHO CARES.” about anything like this. However, if OU Daily Sports has ANY relationship with the university (gets any state/university funding), it should NOT be wasting time or money on this “s#$%” – (direct quote about the subject matter from J Esco).

      • JD says:

I don’t think it has any connection to OU…one of the tweets is domestic violence university tweet aimed at Mixon supporters…I doubt the U would have anything to do with that

        • Cush Creekmont says:

OU “student newspaper” so it is OU sanctioned – I guess they believe that is “journalism” in the 144 character age.

          • JD says:

In that case then TK is a student so good for him…I wasn’t popular enough to get my pic in the school paper

          • JB says:

The OU Daily (or as we referred to it, in our most politically incorrect manner back in the 90s, “” The OU Gayly”) has always been crap. University & college newspapers always are.

    • JD says:

Anything to help recruiting I have no prob with

    • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

It must be newsworthy because you posted it here…

    • Sooner Ray says:

We have a QB dating a Tiger (better than a cougar I guess) and a QB dating a Poke. Either we are planting moles or other Universities are trolling the hell out of us.

    • blaster1371 says:

I’m right there with you. I thought this was way creepy.

  • JD says:

The thing I liked about Green’s film was how physical he was…he would win one on ones for the ball..he would go get the ball…things like that make a qb better…we don’t have pin point accuracy qbs but don’t need them with some of the guys we’ll have this Fall…Shep would get it and our production went down when he went down..hopefully we don’t see that again

  • Dlee914 says:

BREAKING: ESPN 100 Payton Pritchard has decommitted from Oklahoma, he told @GoodmanESPN. Well this sucks!!

  • Stephen says:

    Payton Pritchard, he gone.
