– Hunter Donnelly: The 2016 Burleson (TX) Centennial LB, who made the trip to Norman with his father, was one of many visitors on campus for Sunday’s Jr. Day. Donnelly got the chance to see all that OU has to offer and when we asked what stood out the most to him during the visit, he said Headington Hall, comparing it to a hotel.
Bill Bedenbaugh has been handling Donnelly’s recruitment leading up to the Jr. Day, so Sunday was actually the first time the 6’2” & 220 pound LB got to chat it up a little bit with Tim Kish. Donnelly seemed to get a good vibe from Kish, who let him know he would be down in the spring to evaluate him in person. Donnelly and his father also had the chance to speak with Bob Stoops while on campus. Donnelly said they both hold the Sooners head man in high regard with the success and history he’s had at Oklahoma, along with the type of program he runs.
Overall, Donnelly said he really enjoyed the visit and stated that it was the best Jr. Day he has been too so far because of the set up and time management of it all. Should OU decide to offer, Donnelly said they would be among his top contenders.
Another school to watch here is TCU as Donnelly’s father actually played along the defensive line for the Horned Frogs back in the 80’s. Donnelly did say that his dad also really enjoyed the visit to OU and that they are planning to return in the near future. – (Alex)
– Jordan Carmouche: Yet another big visitor for the Sooners this past weekend was 2016 Manvel (TX) linebacker, Jordan Carmouche. Actually, he didn’t even have plans to be in Norman but made the last minute arrangements to attend Sunday’s Jr. Day event. And in speaking with him, it sounds as though he left with a positive impression. “It was great. The atmosphere was great and I really liked the coaches and the facilities.”
Tim Kish has been Carmouche’s lead recruiter and the two have developed a solid relationship. “He (Kish) is just a great person and coach.” Carmouche went on to call OU “one of my top schools” and while still very early, it sounds as though Kish has put the Sooners in a good position for one of the more talented 2016 LBs in the state of Texas. – (Brandon)

The entire coaching staff included Bob himself, seem to have a renewed sense of urgency and motivation and it is being felt by every recruit that they come in contact with. That can become contagious and could bode well for an outstanding recruiting season. Based on he early returns we are hearing, this could go down as the best recruiting staff of Bob’s tenure.
Hell no. OU was landing top 5-10 classes every year from 2000-2005. Going forward, OU’s not getting back to that point with Bob as HC. He made his bed with Kish and Mike, losing Monty in the process. Now he has to win, and win soon, or his reign is over.
Sounds like bob has addressed some of the recruiting changes that he needed to. Let this next recruiting year play out and we will see. Maybe Bob turned the corner. He’s been more involved in recruiting than I’ve ever seen. That’s what needed to change.
That was my whole point that seemed to go right over John McCroskey’s head.
Boy, does someone have an agenda. How long have you been waiting to pounce and throw out your anti Bob Stoops drivel?
First off, not true. 2004 wasn’t a top ten class. And as I recall, 2001 wasn’t either.
Second, it’s a total piece of crap, to imply that keeping Mike and Kish had anything to do with Monty leaving. Absolutely no evidence of that.
Third, until we’re through the next several recruiting cycles you don’t know that what BoomerDave said isn’t true. I’m certainly optimistic and pleased with the early impressions of the newly configured staff.
And finally, for me at least, I’m going to appreciate Bob Stoops for the leadership and example he’s showing, during this horrible SAE fiasco, along with Castiglione and David Boren.

2004 wasn’t consensus 8th, I found two services that ranked them 11th. The point is all you want to do is rant that Bob should be gone, and you’re lurking and spinning to meet your agenda. I made at least four points pointing out the fallacy of you post, and here you addressed one, with selected info spun to meet your agenda.
If he has another year like 2014, I agree he won’t survive. It was a mistake not replacing Mike & Kish. Now, we have to wait and see if the defense is better. I can’t say I’m optimistic, but this is the hand we’ve been dealt. I expect the offense will improve significantly when it comes to scoring points.
I agree, we aren’t recruiting as well as we did earlier in Bob’s tenure. But, we are starting to get more players from CA and LA, so I’m optimistic that the talent level is improving. That may be just what we need to take the next step.
I find it a little funny or at least ironic that a ’17 commit to ASU is already looking elsewhere more that 2 and half years away from actually stepping on the field for any university. I just think that these recruits need to look up the word “commitment” and understand what the word means before they actually do commit.
yeah the save your seat thing is getting a little tired
Until they reform the recruiting process, this will be the norm. All they’re doing is reserving a spot until a better fit comes. Hopefully stoops stays away from pressuring kids until they really know OU is the place.
I agree, and from what I’ve seen, OU appears to have one of the lowest pressure kind of recruiting pitch/process of anyone. Not a ton of early commits when compared with the major programs across the country.
I get your point Zack, but ’17 commit? C’mon. I can’t think that ASU’s ’17 class is filling up that fast that he felt pressured to commit this far out.
I get it but that’s why I said reform. Either take out the early commit thing where they can’t commit to a school until August 1st of their senior year (which I believe is when they can officially be offered) and give the kid an option to sign the LOI anytime.
And I don’t think he felt pressured to commit because of their class size or that but more so because it was a somewhat big offer and he wants a chance to play for a major college team. Say he got injured and that was his biggest offer but he was playing the waiting game, then asu backs off and won’t accept his commitment.
Boomer, Zack is right. And the kids committing and de-committing is far less offensive, IMO, than what Petrino did last year to a recruit. Or when scholarships are pulled 2, 3 years in, because a kid hasn’t made it to the top of the depth chart, and the school wants his spot for a current year recruit.
As for the Petrino thing, it looks like Mike Gundy over signed last year and, per Robert Allen, they are most likely going to ask WR Jalen McCleskey to gray shirt.
Zack—–thank you !! couldn’t have said it any better…………
Linebackers, Linebackers, Linebackers….!!!
What is the big board on linebackers? Like how many and who are the favorites? Even if it’s just your opinion
Caleb Kelly and Dontavious Jackson are 1 and 2
Caleb Kelly, Pernell Jefferson, Dontavious Jackson, John-Michael Terry, and Marvin Terry
What do u guys think about these starting 4 receivers
WR – Jordan Smallwood
IR – Dede Westbrook
IR – Sterling Shepard
WR – Durron Neal
Good or meh?
I want Mark Andrews in there too.
Dallis Todd has been getting some talk lately, I want to see him work in the rotation until he’s ready to take over on the outside
That’s a good point. I had Jordan Smallwood having a groundbreaking year last year, but alas he didn’t. Perhaps, that was a Norvell deal and lack of development. But I think Dallas Todd will start to separate himself, with Quick right behind Westbrook or Shepard, depending if Westbrook is able to adjust.
Yeah, Im hoping Westbrook can because his playmaking ability is just what the doctor ordered
I have had this discussion with others. I do not understand the fascination with Dallis Todd. I know he’s tall, but his high school film was not special and rarely did he separate with ease. I think Todd is a guy that ultimately ends his career buried on the depth chart or transfers.
I’ll take Mead over Todd.
he is young…so I wouldn’t write him off yet. How are his work ethic and determination levels? If those are outstanding, he has a chance; because the talent is there.
Just a prediction. I’m not saying it won’t happen…just a feeling based on what I have seen. I could very well be completely wrong.
If I am to impart any knowledge that I have acquired as a longtime OU fan, it is do not buy into the coaches’ statements regarding players during the spring and summer.
Amen
I don’t want Durron Neal anywhere near the outside.
No Quick? Also, Cale says that Westbrook is an outside receiver, at least starting out.
Quick?
I’ll take Quick or Mead over Smallwood in a starting role assuming Mead has put the weight on this offseason.
Quick would probably be the 3rd inside guy in a 5 wide set
I’m not sure you let the size of your WRs dictate as much. Smallwood has barely ever played and Quick started a significant amount of games last year as a true freshman. I think Quick is more likely to start over Smallwood regardless of their size difference. I’m not sure how it would work in Riley’s offense, but I think they would make it work.
On this I somewhat agree, but ideally you have larger WRs who can get through bump and run coverages on the outside.
With the first 2 being Shepard and who? Westbrook is an outside receiver per Cale.
Maybe just me but I want both Shep and Westbrook to move all over the field so DC’s can’t focus on them without tipping their cap so to speak…inside, outside, split opposite of trips, etc
I think we need to post the two deep in this style of offense. There won’t be a lot of separation in playing time for the first six WR, if they pan out.
This is fair. Although, Shepard and possibly also Westrbook should never leave the field unless gassed.
How do we know Westbrook is going to be that good? He hasn’t taken a D-1 snap yet. I thought LaColton Bester would be a stud coming out of juco but it took a season and a half for him to really come on.
Bester came out as a QB and took awhile to learn the correct route running. Good thing is he didn’t want to be a QB.
I think maybe,
WR – Dede Westbrook / Jeffery Mead
IR -Michiah Quick / K.J Young
IR – Sterling Shepard/ Mark Andrews
WR – Durron Neal/ Jordan Smallwood
But who knows. I don’t think we will see a lot of 5 wide sets starting out because so many fresh faces on the OL. Got to Love Mead & Andrews in the Red Zone though both Big Targets that can Highpoint the ball!
I think this two deep is more realistic.
I feel like Riley and Simmons will want more size on the outside. This starting four is all short. But I have no clue and like others have said they will probably be subbing in and out a lot
I initially thought the same, but it sounds like they will be playing a lot of flex TE alignments, sobi could see him and Meier as inside receivers.
Like it as it would be a huge mismatch for a LB/S
I can’t argue with wanting size on the outside but to begin the year the four I mention are all proven pass catchers. I definitely hope some of the taller WRs can pan out and work in because it will give our team a lot more balance and options. To start the year though with a QB that is going to need to build confidence they will put the best 4 guys on the field that can catch the ball and that is why I went with those 4. I wouldn’t bet my paycheck on anything though! LOL!
I have a feeling Dallis Todd might surprise us.
I know what you guys have said about it in the past but the more I see on LB recruiting this year the more I’m becoming convinced that OU did get the number they wanted at LB last year and are going full tilt at it this year. Especially since the projected numbers that I’ve heard were all assuming Striker declared for the draft.
K said they were using a 4 man front in practice, thinking the 3-4 may have been a stop gap while they recovered from the terrible recruiting that doomed Jackie Shipp
That very well could be the case, I also hadn’t considered that maybe they failed to get the number they wanted and are now in a sort of desperation year at LB.
Definitely possible too
That was the thought when OU was thin at DT but with the success, OU continued to ride the odd front. My hope is the D will be more ‘multiple’ this year with the ability to go odd or even front depending upon team and situation. Hopefully the 4 man front in practices is just a prelude and part of that process.
I agree I want them to play multiple schemes in a league where teams run a variety of offenses.
I agree, and I think you’re on to something here. Coach Reynolds has experience in creative multiple systems, Hybrids if you will.
We all know how much Bob liked the “versatility” of the offense in the Wilson years, and players like Millard, with which they could line up multiple ways to create mismatches.
I think that’s what they are shooting for on defense now. Versatile players (mostly LB’s, and maybe a safety on occasion) that they can move around, and create mismatches and attack again.
I don’t know why, but the hires, and shifting responsibilities give me the impression that Bob was as disgusted with the passive defensive schemes last year as we were. I’m expecting attack, attack, attack, defenses this year.
Possibly. Don’t recall the final number but something like 20 offers went out to LBs last year and of that only 2 commits came in. How many were ‘commitable’…unk. How many would OU have taken if more had committed? Would OU have taken McGinnis if Wheeler had committed? Unk. So offers have been going out. It’s the # of ‘commits’ that come in.
2 for 20. Not a horrible ratio, in this day and age, for OU. Last year we offered around 150 kids, in total, and signed 24. 2 for 20 not that far off the overall average.
Not horrible. But consider there are around 12-14 ‘positions’ you recruit to depending upon schemes. And anywhere from 1 to 5 people at a particular ‘position’. Would love it if TFB tracked the number of offers total and by position. Seems one of the regulars on here was going to work on that.
I still don’t think they hit their number unless they really are running a 3 LB system this year which is fine with me. I think a 3-3-5 last year may have been more productive since geneo was big enough to play the run. However I do think they wanted at least one more LB whether it was wheeler or smith or Houston but they wanted it to be a highly rated guy.
Boren just said he expelled 2 students who were leaders of the chant

When I try to embed tweets, they typically dont show up for me.
If you just type the address to the actual tweet, it’ll embed itself.
cool thanks, I had been just copy and pasting them
no prob.
Did you see the post on the prior blog? Dude went off on the OU art exhibit, tied it to this and then profiled a poster based on his name and started the response with a German verbal salute…Too bad Jordan/TFB does not mod this sort of behavior.
Hey woofer…guys like that probably dont sleep at night because the tinfoil caps are uncomfortable
Boren going with DBo. Didn’t know he was hip. Good for him and his actions.

Don’t get it
Looks like you have some Netflix homework. 🙂
Maybe but not much of a movie watcher.
That’s my bike fool.
he has been going with Dbo
Not a twitter guy so first time I saw this and like it. I wish I was a friend so I could call him up and ask his assistant, can I speak with DBo? Love it.
Tell him your name is Stanley.
You got knocked the f*** out!
Bravo President Boren! Expel them all.
Meaning the kids on the bus, right?
Whoops! Yes. Anyone who had a part in singing the chant.
The other thing I notice about the LB recruiting so far is size, size and size. Not sure how they will all be used but Jefferson is already 240ish, Jackson is 235, Carmouche is 220, Donnelly at 215, Caleb Kelly is the ‘lightest’ at 210ish. Not seeing those ‘safeties’.
A Lot of size, which I could understand if teams were really run heavy in the Big 12. I’d like a little lighter athletic ones that can cover and run.
Just a side note, saw Kelly get juked out of his shoes on Sunday at the NFTC LA. Looked bad.
You mean…you want to run the 3-4 with more converted safeties?
If they are 6’2-6’3″ 210-220 and run 4.5’s…sure, why not lol
Interesting take. I haven’t heard many people say they are for the status quo regarding out LB situation.
We need both…your gonna have to meet half way…Evans was a safety (pushing 235)..Shannon was a safety (pushing 240)…Alexander was a safety (pushing 235)…Box was a safety…Run D wasn’t the prob last year…it was pass D… 250 pound backers won’t fix that issue in our league when they’ll be asked to cover a slot tight end or rb
Could be wrong, but I think Evans was a LB in HS. Shannon is not 240 lbs. Alexander is not 235 lbs. You can just watch the games and know that isn’t true.
Again, all things being equal, I would rather have the bigger and longer LBs…if we are running a true 3-4.
I said “pushing”…your still thinking in past tense…Shannon was listed at 238 last year…unless Alexander has been sick then naturally he will be nearing 235 if they want him that big…Evans looks every bit of 230 right now…Now that I think about it Evans did play along the line but he was a tweener and a burner…I think he came in around 2 bucks
JD, agree to disagree on their actual size. Can we at least agree that:
1. They are not ideal for the 3-4; and/or
2. They are not strong at the point of attack
??
Ok we can disagree
this freaking clown, man

Couldn’t help yourself. Impulse control is a sign of maturity and the mentally stable.
who sought whom out now princess. is this you?
McGinnis was told he play inside on run downs and outside on passing downs…you need cover backers in the middle on passing downs
Probably should get on campus and go through a practice before this determination is made.
It tells you the philosophy they are using…ILBs need to be able to cover
Well, lately (last two recruiting cycles…after switching to the 3-4), they have been recruiting size.
Bolton and Tay both came in closer to 200..Bond was an OLB DeBerry is a OLB…Maybe DeBerry can move inside on rushing downs though
Fair, except I think we missed on so many LBs, that it does not really show who we were trying to get. My statement is true at least to the point that they were TRYING to recruit size…but missed over and over.
Yes we were looking for some size this year.. We def need both
Again, I just want to reiterate my main point: All things being equal, I’d rather than a LB that was closer to 240-250 than a LB that is closer to 200-210.
LOL way to throw that low number in there hahaha…that’s a sure thing post there hahaha…I’ll take what we put on the field next year…Striker at 225 Evans at 235 and Shannon at 240…#waitforit
You can laugh, but the original posts were talking about LBs at 210, I believe. Also, you do realize you’re making up weights for the LBs…just to support your theory
As proof of my point, DeBerry will be coming in as one of the biggest LBs we have on campus (at least LBs with a chance at playing). How big do you think DeBerry is? Now compare your stated weights for Alexander and Striker…come on…be honest with yourself.
Your are right about one thing…I can laugh hahahaha
Okay. It just went from an intelligent debate to something…well…less than intelligent. Have a good one.
Yeah, because that worked so well in 2014…
Like Bama’s LB’s at 250 made a big impact against tOSU. It’s the player, not the weight. Guess Striker was a mistake too.
Bama statistically had one of the best defenses in the country. The team was also in the 4 team playoff. They have also statistically been one of the better defenses in the country for quite a while now.
What was your point again?
It’s the player, not the weight that matters. I didn’t say Bama was not good on defense. However, weight doesn’t make the player.
A lot of truth there. We’ve had some safeties that were 6′ 195-200 that hit like a truck. It’s about POA and stopping forward progress, not getting knocked backwards/dragged for 3 yds. Generally, a guy 230-240 is going to accomplish that more readily.
Oh I agree 100%. Assume all things are equal, I’d rather have the bigger, and especially longer, linebacker in a 3-4.
I would too but most of those guys are in the pros and they don’t grow on trees. There is not many who can play run and pass coverage at 250+, that is why they are pros.
Still, most smart QBs in the pros will burn them every time.
That’s fair. Definitely harder to find. I would just be looking for something closer to that range as opposed to converted safeties that get dominated on the line of scrimmage. I think it becomes even more important when running the 3-4.
Let’s be clear on the two that have played for the past 2 years. It really isn’t fair because they were not ready to play early and weren’t brought to play early. Depth was not there and injuries hurt so they were inserted. It would’ve been nice to have them RS. Instead, they have had to endure the wrath of a lot of fans which isn’t really fair to them. They will be jrs and their size will be good and they will play well with a ton of experience. I’m excited for them next year.
I think Evans will end up being a really good player. I don’t think Alexander can diagnose plays in the middle and coupled with his lack of size…this results in a lot of overruns, missed tackles and being dragged 5 yards before bringing someone down. I hope he can figure it out, but after 2 full years, I just don’t see him being as effective as we need in the middle.
Interesting, he was freshman newcomer of the year. However, since you played LB for some time, I understand your point. Shannon will be back next year too. Last year he played with a broken wrist or hand. Either way it wasn’t easy. BTW, i don’t see LBs knocking guys backwards like they used too. Reason, the spread. They have to do so much more today. Shannon is his same height along with several pros. Lofton is shorter and he’s only been to several pro bowls. Heck, Boz wasn’t tall, maybe 6 or 6’1 at the tallest.
All good points. I could argue some nit-picky things, but I won’t. I’ll just say, I hope Alexander, Evans, Shannon and the bunch play a lot better in the future.
wow. weird. this guy could wake up in the morning and argue that he didn’t
I think you’re just a little too sensitive, such that two adults having a logical back-and-forth is too much for you. I think this is your game. If it’s not dumbed way down or everyone is not in complete agreement, you feel the need to show your ass and jump in with dumb replies. A lot like when you complained that Jordan was too negative, and Jordan shut you down (few days ago…I know you know what I’m talking about).
No one is doing anything wrong, this is a logical discussion between adults regarding LBs (you know real football talk). Yet, you will not show yourself the door. You are the instigator. You are the problem. I guess an email to the admin is probably necessary.
sensitive? no. yeah, i’ve seen your back and forths. arguing with someone til they cry uncle. yep. some real back and forth. lot of back, but you never allow for any forth. you pester someone because you have this inherent need to be right. doesn’t mean you always are. oh and the other people i go after are the ones who feel the need to be negative and/or bash someone or something on every single subject. that’s not an opinion. that’s a douchebag. as i’ve told you before, you go your way and i’ll go mine. and now you’ll get the last word cause you always do
The point is bama has built in biases in polls and minds. They aren’t playing these offenses all yr. They’ll play a few but not a lot. And the bias comes in when you lose, you drop a spot or two. When you win, you get at least 6 back, if needed. Comparing to the sec makes zero sense. When you play 4 cupcakes for ooc and in conf. you get tenn, ark, a&m(post douchey), ole miss(before this yr), and miss st(before this yr) and add in a ken. or vandy you can see the pattern develop. With that schedule, if you don’t have at least 9 or 10 wins you’re not a very good football team
I guess you have to be 270 to hit home runs. Makes no sense as there is so much more involved.
i would take heart, hustle, and work ethic almost every day of the week over weight. does heart, hustle and work ethic make tackles? nope. but neither does weight. give me the guy that wants it more and i’ll show you a guy that can be just as good, if not better
Kind of a pointless statement/argument…once again.
No one is suggesting that OU start recruiting lazy guys that have no work ethic.
Thanks for participating.
What’s it like being a giant douche?
You’re the asshole jabbering on about heart and hustle. GTFO.
Because I have played a sport for a living. I think I would know what it takes. I don’t come on here spouting and posturing and arguing like I know everything about everything. Its freaking obnoxious. You sit here til you’re blue in the face and somebody says uncle. Its pretty freaking tired
For the 100th time, stop replying to my posts. You bring the argument upon yourself, when you decide to jump in and reply with your pointless comments. I don’t seek out your posts and reply. Don’t do it with mine. It’s that simple.
Yep. I’m sure the hundred other guys you argue with are to blame too. Hopefully you can get some help. I hear you crying out. Tell someone who can help
You seek me out. You reply to my posts. Yet I’m the argumentative one. You really are that dumb.
Look, I’m doing you a favor by telling you to walk away. Otherwise, I will continue to make you look like an idiot…just as I have over and over.
My last post. Hopefully it’s yours as well (Obviously I mean in reply to me, b/c I would not dare suggest you give up posting on here every single day, all day…like you already do).
…
It’s not an either or thing. Performance = ability x motivation.
At some point the laws of physics and biology come into play. Size can’t be increased by having more bravado than someone else. One’s strength, speed, and power can be increased by having more bravado, but there’s a limit there.
My preference is to have someone with the most optimal combination of both ability and motivation. And to some degree, motivation can be enhanced or change across time.
L’Carpetron, thank you. I thought I was the only one taking crazy pills.
i’m talking about the God given talent against the guy with the work ethic who goes out and earns everything. of course, every single team in the nation wants the God given talent guys with the blue collar work ethic. those guys don’t grow on trees. IF i had to choose and there happened to be a choice, i would want the guy with determination and heart over the God given talent guy who’s been told how good he is his whole life
I’m not going to get into a jwhig thing. That’s a little weird.
I think you’re bringing into the discussion an issue that isn’t deterministic. It’s not guaranteed that someone with freakish physical ability (talent) is going to be told how good he/she is their whole life.
One way to think about this is the following:
1. One person who has average physical ability/characteristics (talent) and a freakish work ethic.
2. One person who has freakish physical ability/characteristics (talent) and an average work ethic.
We can think of examples for both instances that turned out to be great or vanished.
of course i’m not speaking in absolutes. i believe i said, if i had a choice and there was indeed a choice, i would choose that way. of course the world is made up of your two examples and everyone in between. i was giving my personal choice of the two examples i gave. that’s it. and yes, i don’t want that either. i just love messing with the know it alls
haha…3 titles since 2009. I can’t believe you even tried to make this argument.
Wow broseph, you have some real serious “I’m smarter than you issues”. Good luck with that
Stop replying to my posts.
Our run D was much improved…the main issue w the D was cbs 15 yards off
True statement. For the sake of argument, was our Run D really good or was our Pass D so bad that no one even needed to run on us. (I think it’s a mix of both).
Well those dump off passes are really just an extension of the run game according to some but they weren’t hand offs and the Box stopped the runs
Ha…you love to go back and forth…and I enjoy it.
Devil’s advocate: Who’s covering on those “dump off” passes? Are we talking about the dump offs like in the Baylor game?
https://thefootballbrainiacs.com/ou-oklahoma-sooners-football-pro-day-2015
I’ve never really noticed with pro days, but this seems like a big list. Good luck to all of them.
new LB offer update added
Hmmm….a juco offer. Whaddaya know.
Kid has offers from everyone. I think it’s less about him being a juco guy and more about him being a beast.
Florida State commit with offers from Bama, Florida, Auburn, Oklahoma.
Film is VERY impressive. Not sure what kind of chance here OU may or may not have, though, with him already being committed to a top program like FSU. Lot to like though w/ his highlights.
Yeah have to agree the only thing OU may have to offer to make a difference is early playing time over FSU. But who knows, you can’t ever make a “shot in the dark” if you don’t pull the trigger!
JUCO.. I wondered if we might offer a couple this cycle..
Jordan, may I suggest that you follow Alex’s lead and include the players height and weight on all player write ups. Thanks.
Still wonder if the only reason Delance decommitted was because of the video
Yeah I think it was only a small part of why he did.
$117 million in debt on the south end zone improvements. Guess fundraising’s not so hot after all, eh?
So Herman, suppose your a big booster and you lose more than half your worth due to the oil issues, how much you putting in? Or, are you saying the 2014 football’s record caused the issues.
Could be wrong…but I don’t think he said or even suggested either.
Oil will skyrocket in the next 12 months, so that shouldn’t be that big of an issue at this point.
So you are going to bet on the come? People who have money don’t work this way.
“People who have money don’t work this way”. You sound smart.
😉
Yeah I treat that guy like he’s stephen dales little brother. Makes life easier
I thought he was Dale’s great step neph-aunt.
Could be a matter of funding promised and not necessarily secured YET. Could still be in the process.
Really encouraged by the positive feedback about Kish. From one old man to another: kudos Coach!
Saw that Delance picked up an offer from Alabama. If he thinks that SAE at OU was bad wait until he finds out about The Machine at Bama.
guess where SAE was founded.
You don’t even have to go back more than a year to find an incidence of a Soroity getting in trouble for racism at U of Bama.
A.J. McCarron’s mom.
And a BOOM out of pretty much nowhere. TFB post coming soon.

WR?
I’m guessing so

This is all kinds of awesome right now, you don’t even know
Was that like one of the fastest flips ever?
I have looked at this post 4-5 times now and I crack up every time! I am bringing back “Post of the Day” honors for you my friend! LOL!
Much needed BOOM right there.
to say the least 🙂
update added
Sammie B to Eagles
??
Bradford getting traded according to multiple reports. It’s NFL craziness right now.
to say the least 🙂
Jake Locker retiring….crazy.
I don’t know if I like this. The Rams were maybe a step or 2 away depending on a healthy Bradford, to really compete in the division or for a wild card. Now going to a team that chip is cleaning house at? Not a good look
He has to be trade bait for moving up the draft board!
wow…..did not see that
To run Chip Kelly’s offense? Interesting…
Not to be greedy (well maybe a little bit) Super K but didn’t you promise in the weekend Open Post a article on Monday about the new & improved (or back to the old whichever way you look at it) Bob Stoops. Are you holding off because of what is going on at OU or just trying to torture us!
QB Adrian Hardy has committed to OU per CC.
If true, BOOOOOOOOOM!
This is soooo 18 minutes ago
Lol. I’m behind the times then.
Not sure what ‘CC’ is, but the kid tweeted it himself. So if it’s “per” anyone, it’s the kid himself 🙂
Boom
Wow Jordan! Not everyone is on Twitter. I’m not, so I certainly didn’t get my info from him on Twitter, now did I? And you wonder why many on here think you’re a snarky smartass.
Plus, isn’t every single commitment “per” the kid himself? I mean he’s the one committing, right? FYI, CC is Crimson Corner who reported the commitment before you did.
Sometimes when your right, your still not right.
So what position is this guy? Pretty rough around the edges at QB, not enough film to really see what he can do at WR.
Athlete is all I got.
247 Sports has him committed as a 6’3″ 185lb WR
Oh the humanity, Bradford to Philly.
That should be good for his knees.
I heard Philly is going to trade Bradford to Jets along with picks in order to get Marriota in the draft. Chip Kelly is selling out to get Marriota.
Looks like it. Risky…but if it pays off…
Seems a lot like the Redskins chasing RGIII! Giving up so much for one player in the NFL can be a disaster!
Interesting. The NFL doesn’t have a rule against signing a guy and trading him immediately? They should if they don’t.
Can’t just sign him since he’s not a FA. The question is why wouldn’t St. Louis trade him straight to Jets and get whatever they’re offering. If that’s not as good as what Philly is giving them – then Philly is over-valuing Marriota.
I imagine Philly has some other draft picks the Jets covet too. Not saying I know much, but the horsetrading sure is interesting.
Chip wants him to run the Oregon offense at Philly. Badly.
Not good….
“Eric Striker on the recruiting impact of the racist SAE video: ‘What parent would want to send their child here now?'”
“If I was an incoming freshman and about to come here, and my momma saw that, I don’t think she’d want me to come here. It’s scary for people.”
http://www.newsok.com/eric-striker-on-the-recruiting-impact-of-the-racist-sae-video-what-parent-would-want-to-send-their-child-here-now/article/5400087?custom_click=rss&utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
Just a little out of context, he went on to say more.
Don’t ya love the media
Got to love picking and choosing quotes.
How is that picking and choosing quotes?
Striker said that quote, then talked about how current players need to rally around new freshman, then basically said the same quote again.
Him saying anything of this sort is detrimental, IMO, whether Kersey took him out of context or not. People from around the country following this story look to Striker since he’s been on CNN
Because he didn’t leave it at, “What parent would want to send their child here now?”
To my knowledge, he hasn’t come out and publicly bashed the school or the program outside the reaction video posted the night of the SAE video. The quote you presented from the article used leaves a much more negative tone and is pretty much makes it sound like a doom and gloom situation. On the contrary, he has been pretty supportive of the student body, the program, and coaches.
Seriously? Does Striker seriously think that there isn’t racism at EVERY school?
Just wondering when Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson will be out protesting at OU?
Will you stop? His view is from his experiences. Please stop. You are irritating me.
For an alternative (meaning nothing NewsOK) and much more positive read on Eric Striker:
http://www.foxsports.com/college-football/story/oklahoma-sooners-sae-fraternity-racist-video-eric-striker-leadership-031015
Did the Delance interview on TV happen yesterday? Just wondering if he said anything new other than what was already reported.
I know I’ll probably get ripped for this comment, but IMO , Coach needs to reel Striker in a bit. He’s just crushing us with negative recruiting talk. Prospective recruits know about what happened. Not necessary to continue to say it over and over to every media outlet that sticks a mike in his face. He’s angry but enough already. Let’s not let the drunk fraternity guys do more damage.
This doesnt help either.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2392058-video-of-frats-racist-chant-made-me-decommit-from-oklahoma-i-was-disgusted
Well, we can at least take comfort in that fact that most people know that the Bleacher Report is a house rag. Hardly journalism.
Wow really with that statement. Read this article again Ms. Connie. Your statement makes me feel real colorful as sensitive as I am right now. The under tones of that being said, WHAT POSSIBLY COULD BE POSITIVE ABOUT YOUR STAMENT? WHAT IS IT??????
.
Look this is bad and it sucks that it had to be at OU. This might sting a lot or very little in recruiting. Either way it will take time for this to subside not go away but subside.. I thought what Pres Boren did and the national fraternity was the most they could do at this time and you have to think there will be other consequences to go along with it. There will be changes and we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. Bad no matter how you look at it.
Sooner nation forgive I do apologize. For give me please. Right now this racism thing, it feels like a 3rd degree burn. Then someone seeing for the first hits you thinking it’s funny. Oh the tears and anguish that comes with such impact. For give please and Ms. Connie that definitely includes you to I’m sorry
http://gfoms.com/stadium-plans-revealed/
VERY anxious to see where I end up, as my SEZ seats are likely gone.
I’m sure they have a plan in place for all season ticket holders in the SEZ. The plans call for an increase in capacity to 84,000 so I’m sure it will be no big deal.
How does the Eagles trading for Sam Bradford help them get Marcus Mariota?
Not only that. But is Sam an option QB? I know he’s a helluva athlete, multi-sport and whatnot, but Chip can’t seriously want Bradford to run the ball.
seahawks got jimmy graham and a 4th rounder for max unger(a center) and the 31st overall. seems like a steal to get one of the best tight ends ever. so they think if they trade sammy and some picks, they could get the slot where they think they can draft him
I’m in a Philly burb. Total meltdown going on here. If Bradford were healthy, this “might” end up being a good trade. BUT, he’s missed most of 2 seasons in a row.
As a Sooner, I love him coming here. As an Eagles fan, I think the trade stinks.
Now “maybe” Bradford can get Demarco to join him.
Some “rumors” going on in Philly. Bradford , and three firsts, for Tennessees first round pick (#2).
OU Tennis taking on Virginia. Top-10 matchup.

Wow that field is loaded. Southern Highlands is a beautiful course.
that robert trent jones knows his stuff. where in vegas is it?
Enterprise. Very southern edge of town on the west side of I-15.
by the race track? or farther in toward town?
edit: scratch that. wrong side of town

yep. “i was way off. knew it started with an s tho”
Yeah you had me confused for a minute, man. I kept searching for a new racetrack they may have built since I left. lol
yeah you didn’t hear? 🙂
haha I guess not
Tied for fourth after two rounds. More than respectable.
It’s come down to No. 6 singles. OU up 3-2 in the third set.
yeah, got to catch the end of the match on soonersports.tv
Awesome win!!! 40-0
OU vs. ORU for those of us that can’t see it on TV.

Sooner bats still adjusting to Daylight Savings Time
Well, that was embarrassing. To add insult to injury, 3 backward K’s in the 9th to end it.
My Apology: “Some” people on here are writing me saying that I’m an insensitive racist for saying that racism exists on all campuses. I am NOT saying that what SAE did was right in any way. Obviously it was 100% wrong. My point is that racism on campus didn’t start at OU, and it will not end at OU. I am not an African American, so I haven’t experienced racism, BUT I do not believe that a few racists at SAE, should cause OU to lose recruits. I think the recruits are smart enough to realize that racism DOES exist, and it’s not limited to just OU.
I think most people would agree with what you said. However, “I am not an African American, so I haven’t experienced racism…” you do not have to be black to experience racism. It happens everywhere to people of all races.
indeed, and if u can’t tell from the pic I am not Afican American, or as i say black
Did I miss something? And, do you really own a parrot?
Dustin. I really do own a parrot. She’s a Sun Conure. And yes, her name is SOONER.
That is awesome sauce
It’s a sensitive issue for everybody.
True story, many years ago I was stationed in the Philippines for two years in the USAF. I had a Filipino girl friend that complained that I had too many friends that were African-American. I still shake my head when I think about her saying that.
Should have told her your African American friends thought you had one too many Filipino girl friends. 🙂
Well, I could have said lots of things, but just think about her comment.
I was gobsmacked.
I finally told her it doesn’t matter what she thinks they are my buds.
Okay, okay, I’m sure we have heard enough of the SAE fiasco.. but here is one article a buddy sent me that is the most on point thing I have read about this yet. Please click the link, I think you’ll find it worth it..
http://www.thelostogle.com/2015/03/09/10-questions-about-the-racist-sae-video-that-need-answers/
I thoroughly enjoyed that
LOL!
It’s all Greek to me. 🙂
Here is a link you might find informative, I did. It’s not humorous, but is written by a brilliant constitutional lawyer.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/volokh-conspiracy/wp/2015/03/10/no-a-public-university-may-not-expel-students-for-racist-speech/
I keep waiting on these two students to sue OU. I think he’s reaching a bit by referencing the George Mason case. I doubt they would risk their lives by coming back, anyway.
He said a mouthful here:
They may get the expulsion overturned. After that? Who knows? This will definitely haunt them for the foreseeable future.
Sorry, but I found this just about as offensive as the frat boy’s chant.
……geez, author claims to be a comedian…….he’s tryin’ way too hard to write humor a/o be funny while adding liberal use of f-bombs, which is a substitute for lack of comedic creativity
exactly. that’s how i feel about apatow movies, among others. waaaay too much cussing. some great ideas for comedy in some instances, but the cussing far outweighs that
Bradford traded for Foles! Anyone else see this!?
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/12456228/sam-bradford-st-louis-rams-traded-philadelphia-eagles-nick-foles
Here’s a good read. Hope it hasn’t been posted yet. If so, sorry.
How the Oklahoma Sooners and the Selma Marches Saved Alabama Football
http://www.rollbamaroll.com/2015/3/9/8179963/how-the-oklahoma-sooners-and-the-selma-marches-saved-alabama-football
…well, just watching cnn and the lead is the frat story………student’s name is out, and he says that the family in dallas has had to leave their house due to threats……….housemother has a very embarrassing video of her out now………….and so it goes
Don’t watch cnn. 🙂
Same here… way too much slant in my opinion. Was a time when CNN reported the news.
bingo. there is no news any more. its all agenda. every single one of em has an agenda and it ain’t reporting the news. even fox, to an extent. there is a reason, tho, that fox is always ranked first or so i’ve been told. and it probly has to do with “obama is great, obama is good, let us thank him for this food” type crap coming from the rest(not to start a political debate, at all)
Of course that’s their top story…
SIAP, but now that Sammy B is no longer with the Rams, I’m packing away all my Rams gear. Guess I’ll still support the Cards & the Blues here near The Lou. But the Rams can bite me.
I pulled for the Rams from the day he landed there, I’m done with them now.
Word, brother. Now I couldn’t care less if they move back to L.A.
I thought the raiders and chargers are looking to build a stadium and move to LA and St Louie is looking to build a stadium on the Mississippi
I don’t like Chip Kelly and I don’t like the Eagles, but I hope (and think) Sam lights it up.
I pull for Sam, wherever he is. But I don’t like where he’s headed.
I can’t pull for Philly…although I am pulling for them to trade him
I don’t have a favorite NFL team, I just flip channels watching all the former Sooners I can follow.
Yeah I do the same….it does the program good for former sooners to excel

Going to leave this here. Not sure at all if this has been posted (if it was im sorry)
future head coach
Great interview. He sure has a way with words, if he can put his plan on the field we will look like a totally different team.
Thanks for the post. Great interview.
