Sooners Add Talented Louisiana Safety To 2016 Class

Oklahoma added another talented defensive back prospect to their 2016 recruiting class when the coaches received word that Chanse Sylvie (6’0″ 186 – Shreveport, LA) was committing to the Sooners.
As many of you will probably recall, Sylvie is a player TFB has talked about several different times in the past. Both for his multiple visits to Norman and the strong relationship he’s long had with OU defensive backs coach, Kerry Cooks.
It’s a win on multiple fronts for OU both in that you add yet another talented safety prospect to the trio of true freshman you brought in last year, and you continue to establish a foothold in a talent-rich state like Louisiana. Which is something this OU staff has been working diligently towards for the last couple years.

This guy has to be placed on the OU full time staff in some capacity. I can’t really comment on his coaching ability but his recruiting style has proven to be OU level good.
Since many on here are all about giving certain coaches all of the credit, who gets the credit here? Cooks or Viney? Or both?
In an interview Sanchez credits Viney with helping the most; no mention of BJW or Mike. I’m thinking Viney can coach. Agree +1000…gotta find a permanent place on the staff for Viney.

A year or two in the weight room / training table and this kid will be beast at safety. He likes to hit and gives awesome run support.
Is Sylvie more suited to play a NB role kinda like what Steven Parker is playing now or Free Safety like Hatari Byrd

Sometimes this recruiting is a game of Chanse.
You don’t take some Chanses you won’t be successful.
This is true, with offers from the Notre Dames and Michigans you don’t get many second Chanses either.

I have no idea whether LSU passed on him or vice versa. LSU has 4 DB commits in the class of 2016 ( 1 -3* , 2-4*, & 1-5*) to date…….
OU needed Db’s and Sylvie should help the moment he steps on campus.
Bob : Sylvie probably has a chance to play a lot at OU. LSU, however, took 2 4**** & 1 5***** DB already……OU needed Sylvie ; LSU didn’t….Hope he turns out to be everything you guys think he is………

Good to see you back…been awhile. I’ve been busy with normal summer stuff like getting the hay done for winter, and knocking out some big projects at the day job.
I know all about busy. 2 full time jobs will do that to you. I should have some internet time in the evenings with my second job so hopefully I can keep up appearances here.

I think Delance had another list a little while back that didn’t have OU on it, so it was pretty much known OU was out.
I don’t even think of Delance since he decommitted. Kid doesn’t feel comfortable in Norman, he shouldn’t be there. Oh well, we’ll survive. Best of luck to him.
I hope he chooses Texas or at least a Texas school. It would be nice knowing he was over there on the other side.

It’s been hectic. Got laid off in April and been working 2 jobs since. Family is doing good. My 6 month old is already crawling so she keeps me busy when I’m not working. How you been?
I’ve been getting by, working like a dog lately and not able to post as much as I once was because of work load. Sorry to hear about your layoff but at least you have something going right now. Don’t give up, keep doing what you have to do to take care of those little one’s because YOU are their future, we’re all pulling for you to land a good, stable, close to home job soon.
