BREAKING: Austin Kendall Commits To Oklahoma

Sources have confirmed to TFB that 2016 QB Austin Kendall (Waxhaw, NC) has committed to Oklahoma. Kendall was previously committed to Tennessee, but things had been trending in a positive direction for OU of late. His relationship with Lincoln Riley and the opportunity presented in Oklahoma not taking a QB in the 2015 class both playing a key role in Kendall’s decision.
The Sooners now have the centerpiece with which to build the remainder of their 2016 class around.
Oh, and one more thing.

He’s impressive. He loves having 1 on 1 coverage out wide. Makes some risky throws into tight windows and coverage that require impeccable timing and accuracy to avoid being intercepted. Very mobile for a pro style QB. Score a big one for Lincoln Riley!

Dontavious and Pernel hung out together and talked to Stoops together during the junior camp I believe as well…they talked about playing together and making the team better and not necessarily competing against each other for a spot but playing together..I thought that was encouraging..be nice to get them both

The word “centerpiece” accurately describes what an early commitment from a QB like Kendall can be. He can help bring in WRs and OLs. He won’t hurt with Whaley’s recruitment either, although it sounds good for Whaley already.
Now if they can just land Garrett we’d have two great ones in our wheel house.
It might not be a good thing if we try to take multiple quarterbacks. This guy committed in part because we didn’t take one last year.
He also de-committed from Ten for taking two. If we get another qb it will be way later in the year. I imagine we are now done.
Thought I read here a long time ago that OU may have only 17 schollies to offer in 2016 plus one or two gained by transfers or removals. If that is what Punhas to work with I would think only one QB in the 2016 class.

According to Rivals he’s the 3rd ranked overall QB, and 27th overall player nationally. Look at ESPN and 247 though and you’ll have to scroll a ways to find him on their overall player lists.
I think I read where Lincoln had a relationship with him when he was at ECU.

Kid looks pretty good on his film. Really good at the deep ball hope he can throw short stuff too.

Hmmm a pocket passer and not a dual threat guy. I like it alot. He moves well in the pocket. Good downfield vision. Very accurate and good touch on his throws.
Agreed. I’d like to see him with better footwork and hips on the throws (tends to fall away a lot), but his accuracy and arm strength are good. He has that Roethlisberger mobility.
