– Alternate Uniforms: I have been told the Oklahoma football team is planning to work in an alternate uniform again at some point in the coming 2015 season. There are a few options that are currently on the table, though, we are told none of which have necessarily been finalized as of yet. But a couple of the options I have heard about so far sound pretty slick, and if they are approved will almost certainly get the attention of recruits.

One of the options on the table is an all black alternate uniform. I was also told there is an option with an all white matte helmet. – (Super K)

– Abdul Adams: This was included in today’s daily news post earlier this morning, but on the off chance you missed it I wanted to quickly address it here as well.

This is coming from what many believe to be OU’s top 2016 running back target, who has been very complimentary of the Sooners after they offered a while back but has still yet to make it to Norman. And while it certainly wouldn’t be the first time a prospect has committed to a school without having visited, it’s probably not out of line for one to assume there’s a chance — assuming Adams were to commit prior to making an OU visit — this may not be a good thing with respect to OU’s chances. TO BE CLEAR I’m not saying anything definitive one way or the other, as I am always very hesitant to read anything into somewhat innocuous tweets from high schoolers. But we are working to try and track down more information on this either from Adams himself or those close to his recruitment. – (Jordan)

– Chandler Garrett: If you’ve been regularly checking our OU Jr. Day #2 visitor list for updates, you may have seen that we added a 2016 quarterback — something a number of you have been lamenting the absence of for some time now — earlier this morning.

Brandon is hoping to speak with the OK Preps 6’5″ 215 pound Mustang product later today, so hopefully we’ll have more of a substantial update for you soon. For now, however, there is certainly plenty to like about Garrett’s game. As you’ll see in the very first play on his highlight tape above, even for a kid of his considerable size he’s certainly no statue back there. And he can definitely fling it around the field.

To date Lincoln Riley’s only two QB offer have been to two highly touted national prospects, so it will be rather interesting to see if, coming out of the weekend (or shortly thereafter), Garrett doesn’t leave Norman with an OU offer in hand. – (Jordan)

– Tyler Tamar Vaughns: We all know by now that one of the primary reasons Dennis Simmons was brought to Norman was because of his experience in an ‘Air Raid’ system. But another important reason for his hiring were the recruiting connections he possesses in the talent rich state of California, a state in which the Sooners have also already established a pretty decent foothold. So when I heard the former Washington State WR coach, now OU outside WR coach, was the lead recruiter for highly touted 2016 WR Tyler Tamar Vaughns (LaPuente, CA), it made a ton of sense.

The 6’2″ 175 pound wideout is one of the top prospects at his position in this 2016 class, and holds an OU offer he previously received from Jay Norvell. However, I had a chance to catch up with him recently to see where OU stands both just in general, but also following the coaching change at his position. And it was apparently early on in our conversation that it isn’t just Simmons who is making the Cali product a top priority for the Sooners.

“I’m hearing from a different OU coach everyday,” Vaughns said. He went on to say, “just by talking to them I can tell they are cool guys, and I can’t wait to meet them in person.” Which may lead one to believe that a future visit to OU could be in the works, so I asked if that were indeed the case. Vaughns said the plan, as of right now, is to try and get to Norman ‘some time in August.’ – (Brandon)
