– Baylor Game: Honestly, nothing matters at the moment but winning the game this weekend. Win this game and the Sooners stay in the playoff hunt. Lose this game and, honestly, I’m not sure when the Sooners can realistically expect to beat Baylor. The Bears’ defensive recruitment continues to improve, and Jarrett Stidham is only going to get better. – (Super K)
– Tramonda Moore: I caught up with 2016 OL Tramonda Moore a short while ago, who said he did not make the trip to Norman as was previously planned this past weekend. He did say, however, that he will most certainly be at the OU/TCU game in a couple weeks.
In talking to people around Moore, it seems that OU and Ok State are the favorites. Although Moore did say that he’s considering a return trip to Missouri. He visited Columbia a few weeks back and is intrigued by the fact they are the lone school recruiting him as a defensive lineman (a position his h.s. coach actually believes Moore is best suited for at the next level).
While Moore hasn’t publicly named any leaders, he has a lot of ties to Oklahoma State (his h.s. coach played there) and at this point the Cowboys figure to be pretty tough to beat. – (Super K)
– Shemar Coleman: I spoke briefly with 2016 RB Shemar Coleman (Southlake, TX), who confirmed he did make the trip to Norman this past weekend. He said there wasn’t any discussion about an offer, the trip was apparently more about getting to know Coleman getting to know the OU coaches and vice versa. For a little more background on Coleman, you can go back and check out this past weekend’s Open Post.
Coleman said he “loved” the visit but it looks like the Sooners are going to wait and see how things play out with their current RB offers for the moment. – (Super K)
– Clifford Chattman: 2016 ATH & LSU commit Clifford Chattman did make it to Norman this past weekend. We’ll work on catching up with him this week. Pulling an LSU commit out of Louisiana just seems a tad difficult to say the least…
https://twitter.com/cliffchattman/status/663453263325323264
– The Next Charles Walker?: A guy we’ve had our eyes on for a while is 2016 DT Von’Darius Freeman (Ville Platte, LA). Alex sent me his film back in the spring, and I had a chance to review it earlier today. And it’s fair to say I came away rather impressed.
In my estimation, there is no attribute more important on the defensive line than a quick first step. Freeman has similar size to Charles Walker (6’2/6’3 285/290 lbs), but there are a lot of DTs at that size. But what Freeman has that is so hard to teach is that burst off the LOS.
Freeman told me he hasn’t heard from Oklahoma yet, but said he does hold offers from Miss. State, Houston, LA Tech, ULM, Southern Miss and some other small schools. As his senior film starts to make it’s rounds, I suspect he will add some new offers. – (Super K)

Thanks. Hearing anything on Obi Eboh? And….First.
Haven’t tried just yet but I’ll reach out to someone who knows him later today.
Much appreciated sir. Now I’ll focus on beating Baylor!
Lose this game and, honestly, I’m not sure when the Sooners can
realistically expect to beat Baylor. The Bears’ defensive recruitment
continues to improve, and Jarrett Stidham is only going to get better.
I would say it depends how we lose. Lose like the last couple of games? Absolutely, that would be a terrible thing looking forward. Lose a close, hard-fought battle in which we play pretty well? I’d say we could end that streak as early as next season.
You could be right. But Baylors improvement not withstanding, Oklahoma can not lose to that team 3 yrs straight…and with a true freshman qb to boot…no no no 🙂
I would definitely rather just win this year. I think we have a solid shot. Get them this year in Waco, and next year in Norman, and hopefully we can slow down some of their recruiting progress.
Let’em recruit the best they can. I want to beat them at their best. We’ve never been afraid of texsa at their best, why Baylor?
A weak villain = a weak hero.
Who said anything about being afraid? Some of those recruits that are going to Baylor though, are causing OU to not have as talented a roster as we could have, if WE were landing those kids. And keep in mind, Bob’s record against UT is now 10-7. You happy going 10-7 against Baylor over the next 17 seasons?
I get what you’re saying Super K. But OU has upgraded on the defensive side of the ball, particularly the DBs and the DL.
KSU slapped 24 pts on BU 😉
Oklahoma has improved as a staff as well, can’t discount that- at all.
Here are BM’s stats vs Baylor when he was a freshman at Tech. Not bad really, he moved the ball well, and had good yardage and some td’s….But, it was tech, so they got trounced 63-34.
Encouraging though…
He was:
28-51, 314 yds, 54.9% completion, long of 41 yds, 4 td’s, 1 INT, 128.6 passer rating
He rushed 14 times for 39 yards.
No telling how he’ll do with the Sooner talent around him. Boomer!
“Lose this game and, honestly, I’m not sure when the Sooners can realistically expect to beat Baylor. The Bears’ defensive recruitment continues to improve, and Jarrett Stidham is only going to get better.”
I bet Baylor fans said the same thing, at some point.
I found that statement rather odd for several reasons. First, Oklahoma’s recruiting has been much improved as well and we get them at home next season. Also, I guess K believes that Stidham unseats Russell as the starter for next season. Not so sure about that.
That statement was pretty dramatic. Oscar worthy?
Their class is 23rd, our class is 51st. Their average recruit(on 247 sports) is 87.37, ours is 87.11.
They have better recruits right now(even if only slightly), and more of them.
Id say its pretty accurate.
Here’s the thing for me: Baylor has become OU’s texsa. But OU can’t discard texsa as baylor. The solution is simple, proper motivation: OU needs to see Baylor as BAYLOR and texsa as TEXSA.
This will turn around, starting this year. This OU team is so much better on defense. I’ve watched the past few games and I’ve seen the DL stunting more than they have in the past.
That’s the number one reason for all of the sacks lately.
New opening over at Mizzou for President
Link?
This silliness has got to stop. A leader, in this day and age, does not think all of his students, “all”, are a protected class.

It’s not silly at all in this day and age for a college president to take racism and racist threats on and near campus very seriously and to communicate that very clearly.
That’s all I’m going to say on the matter, unless something very similar happens at OU in the future.
Agreed. Perhaps my choice of word should have been “foolishness” because the president is behaving as if he is a fool. He has total disregard to those who expect him to lead them.
So some people in a pickup yelling things and a false flag swastika mean you must crack down on racism. It’s tyrannical BS at it’s finest.
Super K have you heard anything on OH LB Brendan Ferns?
I haven’t bud
I like OUr chances. We are significantly better on both sides of the ball and our strengths match up with their weaknesses especially defensively for Baylor. I think we get a few more stops than Baylor. Hit them early and often. I do hope that any dirty plays from them are rewarded accordingly.
Question? How are we significantly better than them on offense?
Their QB is making his second start?? all I got
Which witch is which? Pick the team that corresponds with the stats.
Yeah, we are the bottom line. Pretty great stats! Ha, i just don’t know that I could use the word “significantly” when describing how much better our O is than theres. But I am certainly happy with the direction our O is trending!
Good point.
Top = Baylor Receiving yds average, good vertical passing game
Bottom= OU Completion %, BM is very smart with the ball
Eerily similar tho.
If choosing, I would take that ridiculous passing %. You can win a ton of football games with a QB throwing the ball 70% completion.
Yep. Give that man a jelly bean.
No I didn’t say we were better than them offensively. Baylor gives up yards and points. You can’t have turnovers and stupid penalities. If we play a clean game and don’t turn it over, we win this game.
Misunderstood you. My fault!. I’m excited, and can’t wait for this one
Dude we’re gonna beat Baylor. Our D-line is the key and our best asset. Of course Coleman is gonna be a monster but you know who else was a monster against us Amari Cooper and we still kicked they’re ass. Baker of course is gonna do some Baker things and make plays. I honestly believe Sterling is going to have a monster game and lead us they can’t double him cause you got DD ready to break for a touchdown at any time. Let’s not even talk about the 2 headed monsters in the backfield. It’s our year BOOMER FREAKING SOONER!!!!
I hope that you are correct…
Offer Von’Darius NOW! Love that kid’s film…That first step is INSANE!!!
I am wagering after this season we will all want to put a boolit into the head on the BiG12. Just end it all. OU and OSU to the Big10…the rest can go…… wherever.
Big 10 is a crap conference. Ohio State. Michigan. And crap. It would hurt recruiting, b/c Texas kids don’t want to play in Nebraska, and Michigan, and Wisconsin. Just no. Not the Big 10.
It’s taken a toll on Nebraska.
Every time I hear somebody suggest the Big 10, I just wonder if they’ve considered how that will impact recruiting?
I’m with you… Ohio and Pennsylvania are the big recruiting grounds up there and you’re not taking the best recruits out of either of those states and southern kids really don’t want to go up to play in those colder states for the most part. Sooners leave they either head west or put on their big boy pants and go to the SEC, I’m hoping for the SEC.
Good ballplayers don’t care where they play. They would play on a Walmart parking lot if the competition was good, their fans show up, and the game has meaning.
Not true. They often want to play close to home, against teams that play close to home. That is why we recruit Texas so well. The parents of those kids can drive a few hours to just about every single game their kid will play. Can they do that if OU is playing in the Big 10? No, they can’t.
Guess that is the reason we have been recruiting Cali so well.
They still can, half of OU’s games will be in Norman just like it is now. The drive to Gainsville, Tuscaloosa, Athens, etc is just as much of a burden from Texas as the Big 10. We recruit Texas so well because the state of Oklahoma borders the state of Texas. Parents who care about proximity are more concered with where they are Sunday – Friday, not a handful of Saturdays in the fall.
All well and good in theory but this isn’t the olden days. Recruits are swayed by any number of reasons including freaking uniforms. It’s just my opinion but I want no part of the big 10. I’d rather head to the sec. Just compare aggie recruiting to Nebraska, I’ll take aggie.
Because Nebraska is no where near Texas. Won’t have the same effect on Oklahoma. No saying it would be for the better, but it won’t be a program killer like it was for Nebraska.
Go West, young man. If not B1G as a backup.
I’d rather they just try and add Pitt and L’Ville but I’m in the minority.
I like Memphis and Cincinnati
One of the keys this week will be our WR’s ability to beat one on one coverage. Baylor blitzs a TON! I even watched an interview with Briles and he said they prefer to blitz and play cover 0. I believe the Sooners have the talent to make them pay for that and I believe OUr D can handle their O if we play sound and keep contain.
Good points.
The only question I have is would Briles blitz Baylor and play cover zero?
I’m sure he will. That is how they have played most of the season.
I think he knows this year it’s a big gamble. Swing passes to Mixon will impact your safety or LB which will open up the middle of the field for Andrews.
This will be like an NFL kind of game: 10 yards at a time until you loosen them up.
If that’s the case I’d love to see BM dump it to Mixon, Perine, Shep, and Andrews in all that space behind the blitz. BU would get shredded if BM takes his check downs.
This times 1000.
OU is one of the few teams that can leave 2 rbs in and not lose much in the passing game. Mixon could end up with 100+ receiving yards if Baylor blitzes as much as they normally do.
Just don’t see this game as some defining moment in our program. I think that’s crazy.
Will be great to win. I hope we do, but this team is absolutely getting better on O and D. The trend is upward. They could lose the Las 3 and still be trending upward.
I don’t understand all the drama.
OU fans aren’t used to losing. Getting blown out by Baylor two years running has OU fans giving the Baylor program an uncomfortable level of mystique and respect.
Couple of things I really would like to see on Sat, is better secondary play and zero fumbles/turnovers. ISU could of had a bigger day if their qb was little more on point, because he has some wide open receivers. Stidham won’t miss those throws. And ball protection as is obviously always key. I dont know if I’m nervous or excited…or both. Never been to Waco before, but this should be fun!
KJ, thanks for all of your intel last week. Much appreciated.
Magic Johnson could never shut down Larry Bird and Larry Bird could never shut down Magic Johnson all the time. Both were too good to allow that to happen. What I’ve been noticing about our DBs, assuming Stidham makes all of his throws, is that they are right there to make the tackle.
And, if the DL gets penetration, how accurate is Stidham on the move? I can bet you he’s been instructed not to run. I expect their game plan is throws from the pocket, which makes him a sitting duck.
Very true, you’ll always have open receivers at one point or another, sure tackling is definitely a must. The last time I saw Stidham in person was before his senior year in HS. I thought he was impressive, and was regarded as a dual threat QB. This is obviously, imo, his first big test, we should approach him as if he is NOT a true freshman.
Exactly, just get in his head while he’s still a true freshman. LOL!
OU will only get better. I don’t like the flavor that everyone takes when they talk about Baylor. I refuse to believe they will never lose another game. They have trouble with physical teams.
I was thinking the same thing. It will be extremely important that our DBs tackle as well as they have been. Not allowing any yards after catch will be huge in beating BU.
constantly blitzing him from various angles is one way of disrupting his game plan……………..
This.
SD is not always right, but in this particular instance he is.
S in London ………….i’m seldom wrong………
You are wrong in so many ways…
http://memesvault.com/wp-content/uploads/Hysterical-Laughing-Gif-11.gif
Didn’t you pick Tennessee to win? West Virginia? Texas Tech? A close game with Kansas St (you might have even picked OU to lose)? A close game with Kansas? A close game with Iowa St? That is just your game picks. You also said OU had no chance with several recruits last year and this year.
……i’m seldom sane… FIFY
I know. Fortunately, I’m able to recognize when you are.
I wouldn’t say “constant” blitzing, but definitely more blitzing. Even disguising blitzes and dropping guys in coverage when he goes for a quick slant or out, just really trying to confuse the young qb. Lock down Coleman and force Stidham to go to the other receivers.
I think disguising the blitzes to confuse Stidham is every bit as important as the blitz or lack of blitz. Getting into his head and getting him to make incorrect reads is very important. Confusing Dline stunts will help too.
I don’t think blitzing will do any good unless it is run blitzing. They get the ball out real quick on every play. Coverage will be the key, make him force it, throw it away, or try to run.
True, but disguising coverages is still very important part of confusing young QB and providing for that momentary pause to think.
Like all of that. On the offensive side, we must establish a very good run game. KSU just ran through them all night. Do that, keep em off balance on defense. Then we don’t need to put that pressure on the QB. Got to believe this is the most pressure this young man has ever seen in his life. Bond, Stryker, Tapper…no matter how good he is, he is still a freshman who has not seen anything like what he will see on Saturday. (Unless we all of a sudden go to the 3 man front and drop 8 all day)
Meant to say “put pressure on the QB”
3 man front, dropping 8 is what I fear the most. In other words, the old MS.
Yep. Fine to put in a few wrinkles, but the two things I like most about the defense this year is we are bringing 4 on almost every down (and sometimes 5) and getting some real pressure. And getting Hatari Byrd off and Johnson on at the nickle. Hopefully MS doesn’t try to over coach.
Stidham has proven he can pass, if given time.
Gotta not give him the time rushing 3 would give him.
Stidham looked great against KSU, BUT, when KSU was able to get pressure he broke down like every freshman. He won’t in a year or two, but right now it is natural for him to break down under pressure in the pocket.
Bring the house, Mike (in creative ways).
Well said.
Been there. All dance halls and bars..
I think Stidham will find it very difficult to make those throws laying on his back or face down in the turf. It’s not easy completing passes prostrate on the ground
I really hope that’s his throwing position!
I agree. There were several times that ISU WRs were two steps behind our DBs. If ISU receivers can get behind us, the Baylor WRs will likely be able to also. I don’t know the solution; perhaps more S help over the top. But we haven’t seen good S help all season.
Agree, and for Petes sake we can’t bite on stop and go routes!
we can expect a certain DB to bite on a stop & go route this Saturday….
For every double move he bites on he gets an int. We could use more Sanchez’s on this team.
He’s and easy target for people who can’t formulate an articulate argument. (Present company excluded.)
Sanchez.
Well good enough to have the 18th best passing D.
I’ll be at the game too
Will OU play zone or man to man?
I think they’ll go man for the most part. Baylors run game I think worries me more than their passing game. Especially if we sit back.
I agree completely….Linwood had almost 200 yds on the ground last year…….
Up to the Lb’s and Striker Bond containing and crashing down forcing the hand of the QB.
Both
anyone else tired of all the osu fans chirping? it’s only monday and the LosuR fans have already worn me out….
Yet some OU fans want them to win out until the final week. No way I’m willing to take the chance of them getting by OU and into the Playoffs. I don’t want to hear their fans if that happens. I’d rather take my chances with them losing before the OU game.
OU has zero chance of making the playoff if OSU loses before they play as well.
I disagree with that. If they lose a close one to Baylor, that will have very little impact on an OU win the following the week.
We are pretty much in a battle for the 4th Playoff spot against the ND/Stanford winner, assuming both teams win their other games. That’s it. You assume Clemson, Ohio State, and a 1 loss SEC team make it over OU. I just don’t see OSU losing to Baylor as being the nail in our coffin that vaults ND/Stanford ahead of us.
We do this every year assuming teams win out but if history tells us anything that typically is not the case. Clemson to me is closest to being a lock in the playoffs and I still think the other three are open. Stanford still plays Oregon, Cal, Pac 12 Champ, and ND, ND still plays Stanford, Bama still has to play @ Miss St, rival Auburn, and SEC Champ, and Ohio St has the hardest road with Mich ST, @ Mich, and B10 Champ. Right now I would say Clemson and Bama are looking good but still think the others are open. If I was to choose right now I would say Clemson, Bama, ND, and a Big 12 team.
tOSU or an undefeated Iowa get in. ONLY way Big 10 + 4 does not make it is if Iowa loses a regular season game and beats tOSU or MSU. 1-loss MSU winning out MIGHT be below OU, but the “committee” will be able to say how great that they beat undefeated tOSU and undefeated Iowa.
In short, North Carolina beating Clemson is more likely to help OU than what comes from the Big 10.
Definitely could happen but I would be shocked if Iowa beats tOSU/Mich St in Champ. For tOSU, I think it will be tough to get by Mich and Mich St especially the way they are playing but unfortunately they find ways to win games. I think if both teams have one loss and OU wins out (beating 3 top 15 teams and 2 on the road including) then you would see OU jump both.
I would agree with your picks except I think Stanford beats ND.
osu losing to baylor will drop them out of the top 10. So instead of 2 top 10 wins, we will only get 1.
When the race between big 12/ND/stanford is as close as it is right now, that could very well make ALL the difference.
I get what you are saying, I just don’t think it matters all that much. Certainly not enough for me to root for OSU to be one win away from making the Playoffs. Screw that.
Id rather OSU make the playoffs, than the big 12 get left out again. You can tell the committee already has little respect for the conference, the longer we go without making the playoffs, the worse its going to get.
Im hoping stanford beats ND, and loses the pac 12 title game, that will make it much easier for us to get in.
I threw up a little in my mouth, when I read your post.
No OsU in the final four, under any circumstance. I have no loyalty to the Texsa SWC Redux conference we call home.
Its not about loyalty, its about what is best for OU.
The worse the perception of our conference, the worse our perception gets.
That whole benefit of the doubt thing we used to get in the early 2000’s? Ya, thats done and gone.
Look no further than the committee’s opening rankings if you dont believe me.
Frankly, I’d like to see anything that HASTENED the demise of this conference. I think Texsa has destroyed it like they did the SWC.
I think Boren feels that way too and truly regrets the way he played the Pac 12 negotiations. He underestimated the need for support from the northern California, Oregon & Washington schools (actually, thinking he and Larry Scott had it).
I think he sees the writing on the wall with this conference and will jump at the first reasonable opportunity. I think this is the reason for his aggressive comments earlier in the year.
Well if your goal is to get us to move to a different conference, then i can see your point of view.
Frankly id like to go to the SEC. Instant top 10 recruiting classes, and a couple spots boost in the polls.
Plus, games that you can still drive to from Oklahoma!
No, because if Big 12 is left out, we blow this Big 12-2 conference for SEC…see what happens to it then
I would rather the Big 12 be left out, than to see those Orange puke pots make the CFP before us……We would never here the end of it, and that could boost their recruiting. We cant have that…. Can we? That would ruin my entire year. I’m an OU fan before Im a Big 12 fan.
Im an OU fan before a big 12 fan, which is why i want SOMEONE(hopefully us), to make the playoffs this year.
The longer we go, the more we as a conference get relegated to 2nd tier status.
It might give OSU a little boost for in state recruiting, but it would improve national recruiting for ALL of us.
Why would recruits come to a conference that cant make the playoffs?
Mathematically not all 4 teams can have 1 loss so I don’t think it matters too much. If we win out they will all be seen as quality.
I agree… Obviously it doesn’t matter if OU doesn’t handle their business. Pretty much OU’s playoff starts this Saturday.
OUs only chance at a playoff, IMO, is to win out, have Stanford beat ND and then lose in the Pac12 CCG.
OsUs record will not matter.
Having Stanford beat ND, I agree. Having Stanford lose the Pac12 CCG, not so much. OU will have navigated a more difficult path and will be rewarded.
Maybe, Sam, but I really don’t see us jumping anyone. The committee gave their opinions on ND and Stanford vs Big XII teams in their rankings. I don’t think they will jump a 1 lose Big XII team over anybody.
Especially a really bad texsa. That loss looks horrible in light of the continuing texsa dumpster fire.
In this scenario, Utah would most likely win the PAC-12 championship. 1 Loss pac-12 champion would get in over a 1 loss Big12 champ because of that extra game.
Could be. OU could actually have no chance at the playoff.
Gotta not lose to Texsa, frankly.
Only thing that sets OU apart IF they win out, arguably No team plays a tougher 3 game stretch than them with their Nov schedule.. Except..
Perceptionally Ohio St, with Michigan st, Michigan and then Iowa in CCG….
I would be thrilled if they would lose every game every year. Yes, even to texsa.
Me too.
The most deafening silence usually comes from sudden, unexpected events.
Like tossing turkey legs?
Or Blake to saunders?
Let them have their moment. OSU earned it. Be prepared to have yours after Bedlam.
We lost our chance to chirp in Dallas. I wish we hadn’t. We can only win it back in Stillwater.
Waco, Stoolwater and home against TCU————–honestly don’t see OU winning any of those games………
That is because you are blind.
“1 or 2 td’s” over ISU – or 3, or 4, or 5.
Your predictions are correct about two times fewer than that stopped clock is with the time.
Of course YOU don’t.
expecting the blind to see would be silly
He obviously hasn’t seen TCU…. They will be lucky to win out
They’ll go 1-2.
Really? I’m shocked.
Think you’re wrong. This weekend will be the biggest test. TCU at home will be a win. And OSU does not play well when they are on top – big head gets to em like their cowboy mascot and they fall down.
Why don’t you just do all of us Sooner fans a favor and take your negative *** to a puke board so you and us both can be excited by your absence ?
I’m amazed you still get to post here.

Of course, you honestly didn’t give OU a chance to beat Tennessee, West Virginia, Kansas St, or Texas Tech either. I think I will go with common sense on this one and say OU will be favored over TCU, a near pick ’em with Baylor (which has pretty much already happened) and be less than a TD road dog to OSU but even that could change depending on how OSU does vs Baylor.
My personal feelings are that OU has shown, without much debate, they are the most balanced team in the Big XII. Even in lopsided games OSU can’t run the ball. TCU is obviously hurting on D and could be without their only consistant receiving threat. Baylor is relying on a true freshman and has looked very suspect on defense.
Yessir!
OSU has a reason to ‘chirp’. they destroyed a good TCU team that will ultimately battle Baylor and OSU for 1st place…
Not to OU fans…….
“good” tcu team, not great- weak D, still not tested IMO
Exactly… TCU was lucky to beat KSU.
And they were lucky to beat Tech! That miracle catch in the end zone as time expired…
Yes… That was actually the play had in mind when I commented. However, I was thinking that was KSU. It was Tech….
Complete luck….
KSU QB helped TCU win that game. I believe he threw a late pick in that one. If we take care of the ball against TCU, OU should dominate them.
That and control the QB run game.
Honestly, if OU will just run the ball more these last 3 games… I don’t think they will lose. Let that clock just tick, tick away and keep those explosive offenses on the sidelines, while our defense stays fresh.
You are reading my mind! 🙂
KSU was running at will on Baylor and would get cute and decide to throw.
We should be able to have similar success, but the difference being… OU actually has a QB familiar with the forward pass. Lol
And receivers that can get open.
OU runs an offense nothing like KSUs and does not have the same OL skills as KSU. We cannot beat Baylor using KSU as a blueprint because our O is completely different.
We’ll have to beat them our own way.
Baylor’s defense is deplorable irrespective of the offense they face.
Man, I hope so.
You’re correct… OU has far better players on offense.
We run on them OUr way….
So I take it you dont think that OU will be in that battle?
Why am I not surprised.
Now that you got your daily dig at OU out of your system do you feel better?
I hope Bedenbaugh can find a serviceable OT somewhere and let Moore take his problems to Stoolwater….
problems?
He’s drinking again! LOL

Not cool dude, I respectfully ask that you consider taking it down as it is very offensive. Thanks.
I’ll respect this board but honestly toughen up.
Thank you sir. Sorry if I am sensitive on that particular subject. I appreciate you respecting the board.
Yeah, freedom of expression offends people you should probably take it down.
Bit hypocritical huh? We are using the same freedoms as him
I will take it down because I don’t want it to take over this board but people are ridiculous. If they think that is Christ they may need Jesus.
Isnt there some rule on here concerning recruit bashing?
This is pretty blatant.
Freeman’s film is WOW. Dudes his size aren’t supposed to move like that. I hope we can get in on him before LSU.
I noticed Tay Evans was not in the game with the two’s or three’s. What’s his status?
Day to day; concussion protocol.
Baylor has one of the best olines in the Big 12 and have a very capable and potent running game. If OU can control the running game an get pressure then they can impact the Baylor offense by getting stops and turnovers and force FGs. If not, they are in trouble. I see this as a high scoring affair. I think OU has the better defense and Baylor the better defensive coordinator. Bennett is going to attack Baker Mayfield. I fear Mike playing off coverage and allowing Stidham to get in a rhythm and gain confidence. We have to be effective running the ball. Hopefully Alvarez will be ready.
I was at the last game in Waco and the Bears were more physical and played with a real mojo. They play confident against OU so we better be ready to hit them in the mouth the hole game. No taking quarters off like the ISU game.
I disagree about their D coordinator. I also think MS blitzes like a maniac against a freshman QB. Outside of the fact their offense will get yards, I see this as a much more favorable matchup than any of us expected preseason.
If so it will be a complete reversal of how MS coaches. I hope he plays tight coverage and blitzes because Baylor won’t prepare for that. They will be preparing for what they have always seen in the past.
He didn’t blitz the Texas QB this year and played off coverage and this is what concerns me.
We also played 7 yds off the receivers on 3rd and 3 all game, then back pedaled at the snap of the ball. If we do anything close to that again we will be blown out again.
Does anyone know what recruits will be in Waco?
Is this Eric Striker?
Lol
Here’s to BM having a great game. Still don’t understand why there is zero talk about him nationally. His numbers have been crazy good behind a poor/average OL. Yes he stays in the pocket sometimes too long accounting for a few sacks, but most of that is negated by all the times he scrambles Romo-like to get out of being sacked.
Please don’t compare him to Romo. Maybe that is why nobody is talking about him.
Regarding the Baylor Game comment, you had me with the first couple of statements, but lost me on the last two. I for one see a drastic improvement on the defensive side of the ball, and a defense that performed well and gave us a chance to comeback under duress at Tennessee. We lose that ballgame and all sorts of poop is hitting the fan early in the season. We’ve recruited some really good talent in all positions on defense, communication is better, and we’re playing more aggressive. We, realistically, should be in a very good position over the next several years to compete in this conference.
Kellen Diesch committed to Texas A&M.
I don’t get it.
Interesting.
I don’t get it. This team has done the least with the most.
Could be the emergence of the tackles and the guys waiting in the wings. Frison, Evans, Ford, etc. Be a tough fight to get some playing time I assume.
Exactly what I was getting ready to post. Brown and Samia FR + Evans then Mittermeier.
OU’s future is really, really bright.
Texas A&M has 8 Freshmen OL on their roster currently.
Just looking at their DC. They have one RS FR backing up both tackles and he was a 3 star coming out of HS (for what it’s worth). They may have told him he will most likely have a good chance to play right away.
Nothing like getting to play early so you can get the jump on your inevitable 8-4 season and irrelevancy within your conference I guess.
Haha no kidding.
Those 3 little letters
s…e…c
He was already committed to an SEC team (Arkansas). ATM isn’t a step up from Arkansas.
Its still another SEC team. You see kids flipping from one SEC team to another all the time.
Its frustrating.
That’s true but I just don’t see what kids are seeing in A&M. They have that patch on their jersey but they’ll spend their entire career toiling in mediocrity with no hopes of winning anything of significance.
Same goes for tennessee, ole miss, etc, yet all those schools are killing it in recruiting.
My assumption is kids feel like its their best shot at going to the NFL.
We send plenty to the NFL, but these kids are star struck. sigh.
Maybe he likes the band…
I think Sumlin bolts to USC at the end of the year. Can’t really explain why, just a hunch.
This tactic should be employed any and every time Stephen Dale post
I absolutely hate Baylor. I hate that they are worth a crap and that I have to listen to idiot baylor fan. It’s like some illiterate fool winning the lotto and now they are in the country club. Art Briles is an Urban Meyer level scumbag and if I ever get the chance I’m going to throat punch his pos son. Ok sorry… I feel better now. Anyone going to waco for the game must stop at the Czech Stop in West TX… best bakery ever.
“New money” never knows how to act right.
That’s why the good Lord in His infinite wisdom has never let me win the lotto lol.
LOL!
Me either.
Throat punch his son? Random, but I like your style. Lol
Lol social media got me all worked up and since I refuse to argue on there, I came to a safe place to vent. Kendall Briles might just be the “OC” but he’s just like his daddy and it’s bad form to punch an old man like Art so I figured he’d do.
A respectful throat puncher… Solid.
The old man probably confirms or denies the plays before the snap.
Josh wants to go all Krav Maga on the Briles clan. 🙂
He sure does…
Their technique encompasses weapons, remember, and the fact that anything can be used as a weapon against superior numbers. Perfect for a Mayfield “that dude’s probably lunging at me from behind” dance, right!?
They also go for the throat and eyes from the gitgo.
Briles doesn’t shower.
I always stop there on the way to Round Rock to see my grand kids. I wish they had an apricot kolache IV so they could just hook me up.
http://www.czechstop.net/
I will say if you have film to breakdown after a playoff game its best not to have 3 or 4 Hot Chubbies on the way home. There isn’t anything there I don’t recommend highly. The German chocolate cake, beer bread, cinnamon rolls… ok now I’m hungry.
Phrasing!
Guys, we really need to talk about getting “phrasing” back in the rotation.
When I saw the anguish and fear in the eyes of DC Bennett and Briles in the first half of last weeks game as KSt was gouging the bear defense rushing the ball, I knew then we would win this week.
EasTex, sounds like you just made a prediction. I like it!
Well, it does look that way, but then I always expect the Sooners to win.
Seeing the look of hopelessness in the eyes of the bear coaches only confirmed what I believed, anyway.
so , do you think they were thinking Perine / Mixon = nightmare ?
No, I think the realization hit them that no matter what they did their defense couldn’t stop the run.
Thanks , no doubt by now they are thinking about it :))
YES! I was thinking precisely the same thing. They broke. They blinked. Whatever you want to call it. Sh*t wasn’t going right and they had NO answers.
I look forward to watching the two old men try and stop the upcoming young buck.
When it comes time to throat stomp someone, I’ll put my money on the man from Muleshoe.
If OU gets up, I don’t think Bob will call off the dogs.
BU never calls off the dogs. I’d love it if we returned the favor.
I hope he doesn’t! I would like the score to be 80-14 if possible.
If we get up, we ought to have Schmitty come over and just frog march Bob back to the locker room and leave the ugliness to Riley and Reynolds. ‘Cause you know those two would be throwing hail Marys and calling safety blitzes if we were up by 50 and there were 5 clicks left on the clock.
They need to work on their poker faces. 🙂
I’m just hoping BMs little scissor-kick dance step confuses the team and people in Waco the way Kevin Bacon’s dancing confused those poor kids in Iowa.
If we distract them with the forbidden dance, it could just be enough to get the win.
No one is safe from the forbidden dance. The Lambada.
Or the Dance of the Seven Veils. 🙂
I bet the Dance of the Seven Veils is what BM is thinking about when he does his little scissor-kick.
…
http://media4.giphy.com/media/UTjxThsflxCPC/200.gif
Or maybe the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.
Too many moves. 🙂

Find a gif of Fred Flintstone bowling. I think that’s what we’re looking for.
The tippy toe stone thrower. 🙂
And… we’ve lost control to this post. LOL!

Awesome
Easy now, big fella.
I hope we rotate the DL often this game, especially the interior. I’d like to see Q get more snaps. BU’s OL looks pretty stout, we’ll need alot of beef in there.
Coaches will need to have guys ready to go in quick when baylor runs tempo and the play ends near the OU bench.
A little extra cardio for the big boys this week.
Yes, and substitution groups. OU has to control/stop the bears running game first and foremost.
Exactly, I worry more about their run game than their passing game (not much more). On paper it looks like a really good matchup upfront against their OL. Our OL matchup looks like its in BU’s favor, but I gotta believe our young guys will rise up to the challenge.
I like several things about this game. 1) First time we have a healthy Shepard in three years. 2) BM (3) Perine (4) Mixon 5) Andrews. 6) The defense has flipped the TO ratio.
Time to go hunting for Bear.
Sic’em Sooners!
After the last 4 games…no disrespect to those teams….this teams adrenaline level is going to be through the roof Sat. It’s going to crazy.
did Zack practice today?
I dont know yet, they should be wrapping up right now.
Monty did a great job bringing in some good players. Diron seems to really be having a positive impact on their progress. Now to keep the DL recruiting momentum going!!!
Boy, I imagine a lot is riding on our performance in these last few weeks in regards to recruiting and commits, but I sure am anxious to get a few more guys committed, stat!
I’ve been perusing the Big 12 team statistics.
http://www.big12sports.com/ViewContent.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=10410&CONTENT_ID=1398062
Keep in mind baylor has played 8 games and here is a reminder of their schedule.
http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa-15/big-12/2015-baylor-bears-football-schedule.php
EDIT= I found it fascinating that only Kansas has a lower average home attendance than baylor.
Interesting. Could there be more Crimson than that puke Green in the stands this Sat??? That would be a sight.
The bear fans are going for a “black out” and the bears will be wearing the all black they wore two years ago. The crimson clad fans should stick out clearly.
Oooohhh, I hope the OU fans are in all Crimson, no black OU gear.
Spread the word!
And white- classic good versus evil scenario in every sense of the word!
That pretty much used to be the case.
McLane only seats around 45k.
45,100 and they don’t even sell out.
is it still free for students to go to games at Baylor?
Don’t know, but for what their parents have to pay for them to go there it should be.
They don’t sell out? Wow. Given their ranking and recent success I would have thought otherwise.
In their 4 home games they have averaged 44748.
Thanks, EasTex.
I think the thing I find most interesting is their 3rd down statistics. They’ve had quite a few 3rd down attempts and the conversion rate isn’t that great. Which, to me, means the distance to get to the line to gain has been a little longer than they like.
Don’t be surprised to see success at stopping them on 3rd down or they will be settling for field goals.
Yes, and also notice how many times they go for it on 4th.
So, that moves them up to 66% conversion rate overall. But they’ve only found 40%, 21 attempts out of 53, worth the risk. They converted 16 of the 21. According to the stats, that 76% of 4th down attempts are converted.
Now, that looks powerful but keep in mind they didn’t think 60% of those were worth the risk. Another thing to consider is who was the opponent. If a weaker opponent scares them 60% of the time, would they even try against OU?
All in all, Baylor gets first downs about 63% of the time. That’s against weak competition. I think the litmus test is KSU and ISU, while not stellar, can cause problems.
Final thought: Baylor is not as good as what some might think. That 63% first down conversion rate will drop to the mid to low 50s on Saturday.
To me, baylor is as good as the quality of their competition.
Of course, OU has to bring it Saturday night and not let up. We’ve already had to deal with one “blind squirrel” this season at the Cotton Bowl.
Blind squirrel: Ha!
I think OU will be out for redemption of the fiasco at the Cotton Bowl. This is the game to redeem themselves.
I don’t even view it as redemption as much as a determination to play at the level they know they can, irrespective of the opponent. They now know what can happen when they aren’t focused and have found themselves as a result.
That game, for me, is the turning point for the next few years.
I can’t see into the distant future, but for this year I totally agree that game helped the Sooners define who they are.
Don’t you know that I’m clairvoyant? Remind me to tell you about a crazy dream I had back in 2001. If it comes true, OU will win back-to-back National Championships. When they win one, the other will follow.
I knew you were going to say that. :-0
You have the gift, too?
Wait… I didn’t need to ask you that.
…

yep.
Interesting.
#EffBaylor
Bear meat?
I wonder if Texas fan will appreciate the irony when Austin native, Baker Mayfield, dispatches our next three opponents in route to the Heisman?
Well, I’m heading to Waco this weekend to catch the game. I wasn’t planning on going but my sis got us some tix. I will be ready and wearing all crimson. BOOMER!!!!!
I both envy and pity you.:-)
Envy for being able to see the Sooners live, pity for the geographical location of the game.
ET,
I was going back and forth on if I really wanted to go. I decided that I would for a couple of reasons; 1. Its the first time we play in the stadium so I thought might as well join them and 2. Like to see us be the first team to beat Baylor at their place. I still don’t have a gut feeling on this game and I hope it is a good one at that when it comes. LOL!!!!
It’s in the bag. Write it down.
You will enjoy the game.
Just don’t linger any longer than you have to before or after the game. 🙂
What happened at Mizzou today marks a major turning point, and perhaps the beginning of the end for college athletics. That a football team was able to force a President to resign “for not doing enough” tells me that education is no longer the primary business at the University of Missouri, football is. That is not a sustainable model, no matter what sports fans think.
I’m not here to judge the President’s actions or non-actions, but you can’t have athletes threaten the institution. If the Regents were unhappy with his performance, it’s their job to remove him, not emotional students. Nor can you have the football coach speak out.
And why choose to boycott a game against BYU, not another SEC team? Simple, the SEC would sanction Mizzou if they did. Or perhaps it is to discriminate against BYU.
We know where Mizzou’s priorities lie, and it isn’t academics.
Ridiculous drivel. Go to bed.
Nonsense. Mizzou’s President is a coward. Period.
And it receives millions of dollars of state funds. They said today that about 10% of the students are black. And a portion of that 10% just forced their views over the taxpayers of Missouri, and the Board of Regents of the University along with those in state and local government, simply because they disagreed with him! Unbelievably cowardly and pathetic. They have, in effect, given control of their college to far left social groups and the Black Lives Matters racial demagogues who moved in there after the Ferguson hoax and riots to incite racial hate. Unbelievable.
I mentioned on another thread the Justin Stolarik Affair here at OU. That’s how you get rid of someone. Holding your school hostage, not so much.
Rene, the lesson here is the value, measured in revenue, of athletics. The athletes have learned that they have power. Let’s not lose sight that education is a business, anything that’s for profit is a business. The University of Missouri recognized that and must separate itself from the president in order to protect its brand.
So, the question is who fired whom? Was it the athletes or the powers that be?
Why can’t athletes threaten a university? There are expectation a university has as far as student behavior. That can not be one sided, in my opinion.
I’m black. I would not stand for the President’s slow roll on those incidents. Parents have entrusted their children to be protected, held accountable, and be the example of what a higher education is all about: a place for the intelligent and for those looking to expand on their intellect. If this is what a University has to offer, why leave their current environment that doesn’t promote growth.
He’s the President of a University. He should get that more than anyone.
And why is academics the only priority?
and the other priorities are?
If I have to name them, I’m wasting my time.
Because these are academic institutions and their primary function and the reason they exist is the education of their students. These are supposed to be student athletes. The vast majority of these student athletes will earn their living doing something other than sports.
I agree. So, as student athletes, with the emphasis on student, they deserve the same protection as everyone else. You can’t have a hostile environment in schools or at work. If someone believes their welfare is being threatened they have the right to take action.
Who’s to say if this doesn’t get corrected that the people responsible for those acts of racism won’t get more aggressive? Each incident will continue to escalate, potentially, until someone loses their life. Then we’ll be asking the question, why didn’t someone do something?
Didn’t you and I hash this out earlier? lol
Yes. I don’t know why I can’t leave it alone. LOL!
I have myself to blame. It’s like food: I shouldn’t eat it (all) but I do.
I know what you mean. I’ve never had the good sense to walk away, haha!
Well, slap my hand if you see that I’m sucked back in. I’m going to hang around for a little bit and go to bed. Packing lunches for my girls, for school tomorrow.
So you’re saying one shouldn’t eat all the food?
My favorite food is anything my wife cooks. Her family is old-school so everything is made from scratch. You don’t think that much about it until you are not eating home made cakes, pies, and cookies.
Some observations :
– the whole enchilada is going to be OUr D line against baying, overgrown dogs O line –
if we win that battle they don’t run and qb does not get into a rhythm – we win
If we lose that battle – they run at will , throw from a safe pocket and we get hammered –
Hope MS and Co. are figuring out ways to get to young Qb early and often
– he who must not be named is back – whoever it was that had him duck taped to a chair the past week or two and was commenting here – r.i.p. , you will be missed 🙁
– Oscar is my new favorite poster 🙂 sorry ET , I’m sure you’ll get it back ..
Don’t care about all the Mizzou talk. That’s their problem. We had our own and our players were part of the solution. Boomer!
Any chance of landing trayveon Williams?
Looks like he just had an OV with the Aggies on October 30. That’s no quinky dink.
Oh well. If kids want to go to a&m good for them but they ought to learn they will never be more than 10-2 once every 5 years.
You should pay to have that a message put on a billboard.
In other news…
A bedtime snack to die for.
I think I’m going to make some this weekend to go with my bear meat.
I know what EasTex does for a living: he sales tater tots for a living. Yep, that’s it. What marketing genius he is.
You have bear meat?
Come Saturday, about 11pm, we will all have bear meat.
So, your bear meat is metaphorical?
You bet.
Sorry. I thought you were really cooking up some bear meat. I was intrigued. I wanted to know what it tasted like.
Like chicken.
Awesome
I’m close to Pennsylvania and Canada: We do have black bears up here. Eastern coyotes are making their way down here too. Eastern coyote are coyotes that have bred with wolves. They are aggressive.
I wonder what they taste like.
You’re asking the wrong guy.
Give me the standard meats and perhaps a dab of lamb here and there. But that’s it.
So, seriously, have you ever eaten bear?
No.
Edit: EasTex said it tastes like chicken scat.
The most exotic food I’ve ever eaten is…
I think your eggs and ham have turnt my friend.
Looks like airline food.
That could be a quote from O’ Brother
LOL, one of my all time favorites.
Same here!
You’re that Sam?
That’s funny!
I do not like them
in a house.
I do not like them
with a mouse.
I do not like them
here or there.
I do not like them
anywhere.
I do not like green eggs and ham.
I do not like them, Sam-I-am.
Never had bear that I can remember but gator tail and rattle snake isn’t bad. I have eaten at several Chinese buffets so my exotic list may be longer than I realize. 🙂
That’s just flat out wrong. LOL!
One of my adopted daughters is from China and one is from Vietnam. Let’s just say they would bring some interesting foods back from the Asian market. I ate everything but the dried octopus. It didn’t taste bad but it wouldn’t rehydrate in your mouth. Basically it was salty, fishy shoe leather.
What’s up Bob? Where have you been all day?
Working and busy with stuff at home.
Welcome back.
My girl spent some time in China as an exchange student, she was very glad to get back home for some familiar food. 🙂
I spend a lot of time with the chinese. Awesome people, incredible foods.
I generally like the food. But since my daughter spent a number of years in the orphanage, let’s just say they didn’t always eat premium meats.
I (sometimes) draw the line when they start serving alcohol from a barrel with dead rats in the bottom of it.
Yeah, the Vietnamese daughter probably had the stranger diet. We were at the zoo not long after we first got her. We were looking at the bats and she asked if we had ever had those. We finally realized she meant had we ever eaten them. Apparently, they are crunchy when cooked but I don’t think I want to find out.
Ha! A Vietnamese group took me to dinner once. I had no idea you weren’t supposed to actually eat the chicken feet. Apparently you just suck the meat off. I had no idea there was meat on them.
The aboriginals of the Philippines, the Negritos, were amazing. They ate any and everything. One of their tricks was to chop a large plant with little thorns inside and wait for bats to come by and jump up spreading the broad leaves, then yanking it down with the leaves enveloping the bats with the little thorns. Not sure how they cooked them or if they did.
You all are making my stomach do flips.
Amazing.
Eww!
True story.
I’m glad I’m done eating for the day. Now, I’ve just got to get it out of my head before breakfast tomorrow. But that’s a problem for me because I’m an artist: once I draw a visual it stays with me.
Maybe this will help. It’s the only way to eat lobster.
It always amuses me how we view some foods as good and some as bad. I doubt very few on here have a problem with eating the butt of pig, but most would probably have a problem with eating dog which is common in some countries. It’s more about what you are used to.
Yep but my stomach is still flipping.
I would eat my secretary’s dog. I hate that yappin mutt.
Yeah, a lot of small dogs would better serve man by being barbequed. Now Golden Retrievers are a different matter.
On a stick? 🙂
What do you think corndogs are?
My dad used to go down into Mexico on fishing trips, he always told me to NEVER order a hot dog down there.
Now that was funny.
It’s a slow quite place. I told her she could have it there rather than leave it at home so long as it was quite. Yeah, right.
Dog was a staple in the P.I., but not just any dog. There was a certain dog that I don’t know the name of that they preferred. They would deprive it of food and water for a few days for two reasons, so it would have no waste in its system and so it would gorge when fed. They would then give it a big bowl of rice and water. The dog, thinking it would starve again, would consume the bowls contents. Then they did the CNS disconnect and cooked it up with the rice stuffing.
Wow, that’s amazing.
I don’t want to try it, just amazing what you find in different cultures.
I would rather you just go back to posting tot pics. 🙂
That’s what the regular folks did. You don’t even want to know what the Negritos did with dogs.
/blecch
This shows the difference in size with typical Negrito males.
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vFL4LFQ9Y3c/STPMfie0lZI/AAAAAAAABDY/lWBEcCDpMYE/s320/aeta.jpg
Those folks were so perfectly adapted to the jungle it was astounding. The jungle is unique, the canopy is thick, but a few feet above the ground it is clear. They just tuck their heads and literally run through the jungle, while you and I would have our clothes ripped to shreds in minutes. They have these crude bows and arrows, sling shots and knives that are precision instruments in their hands.
Although the guy on the left is much taller, he still looks to be fairly short. Very cool.
Sounds efficient.
I used to like a bowl of rice in the morning with cinnamon toast and coffee. But I will think about that poor dog from now on. May switch to tater tots.. lol
LOL!
You be you, Gary.
Would not doubt it. My Vietnamese daughter went back when she was about 18, she took pictures of a restaurant where they had with snakes in jars. Don’t know if it was alcoholic or pickled.
If you ever have a chance to visit the open air markets, it’s amazing. There’s a lot of things that can’t be sold here, but it’s still an eye-opening experience.
I’ve never actually been to Vietnam (long story), but I remember the open air markets in Siberia. It was weird to see meat lying out on the counter. Of course, it was cold enough that they didn’t need refrigeration.
There’s a lot of things I consider not safe to eat, but Asian farmed fish are the worst of the worst. If you’re not getting live fish, then check the packaging. If someone raised them locally like they do over there, they would go to prison. Yet they are allowed to ship them over here. Amazing.
So that’s where the “rattlesnake” shot originated?
I learned something . Rattlesnake Tuesday on the hill has a real beginning!
What time do you get started tomorrow? I’m looking for an excuse to leave work.
Usually 2-4:30 or so. Some times 3-6.. Depends on kitchen clearance for me. First rattlesnake is free. Come by some day.
I’ll see how tomorrow goes at the office, if it slows down in the afternoon I’ll try to swing out there for a drink.
In Richard Marcinko’s first book, Rogue Warrior, he described his encounter with a Cambodian diplomats “Cobra Dinner.” It was five courses, all of which included different parts of a King Cobra. The aperitif was Cobra venom in wine.
Sounds good.
Okay, then.
I’m thoroughly sick. Time to hit the sack.
I’ll see you fellas tomorrow.
You must have missed the lobster pic. That cures everything.
Don’t forget to stop by here for breakfast. I’m fixing scrambled eggs and pig brains.
As a predator, I love hunting other predators like coyotes and bobcats.
We don’t have bobcats but we do have coyotes and wolves up this way.
When I go deer hunting I like to arrive pre-dawn so I can hear the end of the coyote concert and the encore. I imagine they are all holding up bic lighters at the end. 🙂
Too funny. They always act like they don’t see you. That’s scary because you know they do.
They ain’t scary, they spook and run with a raised eyebrow.
You’re braver than I am.
I’m at the top of the food chain and I know it.
More like chicken scat. 🙂
Now that, I’ve not tasted.
Since you’re serving, I like my bear stomped, roasted, and beaten to a pulp.
And I will put it through the grinder for you as well. LOL!
I like the rugs. 🙂
Those are nice also.
All other news pales in importance to this.
Speaking of pale, I’m going to cook a pale of these this weekend. The kids will love it, my wife will have my head. She’s always concerned about their caloric intake. Me, not so much. They swim all the dang time, they are always in a severe deficit.
Heck, active kiddos burn more calories in the act of eating than they consume.
My son, wow! That boy can eat. I can’t keep enough food in the house. He swims before and after school.
I didn’t appreciate what my parents had to do to feed three athletic boys all within 4 years of each other, until I had kids. We put the food away. My dear, sweet Momma always made plenty, which disappeared fast, but in her wisdom she made a gallon of gravy. We would finish all the food, then cover our plates with bread covered with gravy until we were finally full.
You have to love the Mamas. I know I told you my mother made buttermilk flapjacks. She would make them as long as we ate them. We would put a spoon or fork underneath our plate, near the top, so that we could properly sop the syrup. Being from Georgia, we had cane syrup.
Never got pancakes at home or at my grandmother’s. We got scratch made biscuits and cornbread.
Especially when they are teenage boys.
A bowl of bacon wrapped tots with some mustard and a Pepsi cola.
Don’t drink the soda! You have to keep your health in mind.
Good point. Just the tots and bacon makes sense.
The 4th qtr of the nebbish-mich st game is about to start on espnu. Think I will check it out.
I’m going to watch the 4th quarter of the OU game.
I’ve seen it twice since Sat nite.
Three wins this season and they were over capacity with 90k in the seats. What do you want to bet no one left early?
They just scanned the stadium with less than 2 minutes left and it was packed.
They’ve sold out every game since the early 60’s. I’m sure Nebraska has we’ll under 2 million people. Amazing stat.
Other things to do in Nebraska
http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view7/3706427/wheat-field-o.gif
Coming from the piney woods of East Texas, when I moved to Wichita, Ks I took a drive out west and had my mind blown by the wheat fields. As far as I could see in every direction was this ocean of gold waving in the wind. It was beautiful.
Those piney woods aren’t so bad either. I can go just about any speed, this country is beautiful.
Indeed it is.
I love my old stomping grounds, but being surrounded by trees my entire life and to see such wide open spaces did a number on my head.
You’re from the Marshall area, correct?
Yessir.
Beautiful country. I used to work with your famous neighbor south of town.
You mean Ol’George?
He has a nice place out there in the country.
Indeed. And a place in Houston too, but not near as much land.
Years ago when my dad was still alive, I used to stop not far from Marshall and pick him up a bunch of hog head cheese. Love that country.
